PEAM# 163- 10/24/13- Alma Learns That A Hyena is Not A Laughing Animal

From yesterday-
We begin with Jesus and Astudillo discussing the fact that Jesus completely believes Alma is innocent.  Astudillo begs to differ because Alma’s bracelet was found at the scene of the crime along with the security tape showing Alma’s SUV at the warehouse along with the gun in the vehicle.  Jesus says that Alma is too smart for that and that Killeronica has implicated Alma somehow.  If Astudillo believes Jesus, then he has to explain how did the murdered woman write Alma’s name in blood.  Jesus has an answer for that too. It could have been written by someone else.  Astudillo doesn’t believe that Killeronica can be so macabre.  Killeronica hates Alma and Jesus and wants to separate them. She is capable of anything.  They have to do something.  Talk to that witch and get the truth out of her.
Astudillo wants to discuss it from a legal perspective with Killeronica.  Good luck.
For today
Valentina calls Jesus and is digging for information on the pretext that she wants him to put her to bed.  She is trying to find out about Alma and asks her father for her and that she want to speak to Alma.  Jesus pretends to call Alma to the phone but she is too busy to take the call.
Astudillo tells Jesus that if he takes the law into his hands he could end up in jail.  Jesus cannot afford that and he has to think about how he and Alma in jail would impact Valentina.  Let’s do it the legal way!!

At Topochico
Alma is welcomed into her jail cell by the other inmates and the guard.  Welcome to your new home for many years, Ms. Killer, they taunt. Alma.

At the Killer’s House
Meanwhile Killeronica calls the jail to find out that Alma is an inmate at Topochico.  I didn’t know that that information was given out randomly on the telephone.
Killeronica is pleased to know that Alma is incarcerated and caresses her blond wig.  She is so thrilled and calls herself a genius.  She looks at her gallery wall of enemy pictures and tells Jesus’ photo that this is the beginning of your suffering.  You will be a frustrated, single father without Alma.  Excuse me for winning?  Now she sounds like Charlie Sheen!  Winning!! - Ugh!

At Jesus and Alma’s
Jesus tells Valentina that Alma took a little trip.  She will be back soon.  Val notes that Jesus is sad.  Is he sad because he misses Alma?  She misses Alma too and they say a part of the Four Corners, Four Angels Bedtime Prayer.
There seems to be meeting with Sebastian, Panfilo, Chatita, Jesus and Luisa- (only Susana is missing) Jesus tells them about what Veronica has done and he is ready to do something like snatch Killeronica out of her house but Sebastian doesn’t want to make things worse.  They have to do something.  And then the doorbell rings- it’s the Avon Gossip League. Jessica wants to hold the baby.  They league had been working late becaseu Rogelio, Julio and Xochy are addressing up any issues that may come up at the office and then Xochy starts whining.  Oh come on!!! Let’s not blame it on the hormones!!!!!!    Jesus notices that Cardenas and Marisela are missing and the leaguer tells him that there is another issue- Ricardo.

Ricardo and a dog fight over a chicken leg, no they share a chicken leg with the dog getter the better half.  This is pitiful.  Marisela and Vicky are walking the streets looking for Ricardo.  They are walking, arguing and looking for Ricardo.  They have a false alarm and approach a man that they think is Ricardo.  Ricardo is having his own pity party, for which I cannot sympathize.  Dumb ass!

At the Sanitarium
Marcia apologizes to the doctor and nurse for proposing the twin switcheroo.  The doctor and the nurse apologize for over medicating the wrong twin and not noticing any difference during their sessions. Do I hear incompetent, or shyster??  Marta was to apologize to Jesus for kidnapping Val and return back but the days turned into months.  Marcia looks very strange; maybe it’s the make up and the crooked headband.  Marcia is free at last.

Back at Alma’s
While looking at ipad pictures of Alma and Luisa, Jesus prays to his namesake for help.  Please protect Alma.  Rogelio comes in and greets his “niece” Luisa and tells her that she has a cousin Fernandito.  He shares that Killeronica sold her son for a few millions.  Rogelio agrees with Jesus that Alma couldn’t have killed anyone and that Killeronica is behind this all.  He will talk to Killeronica for Alma, Luisa, Valentina and Jesus.

At The Morgue
Marcia comes to identify her sister’s body.  She asks the doctor to leave her alone with her sister.  When they agreed to interchange she never imagined that it would end like this. She is to blame, please forgive her and she loves her sister.  May God bless her.

Back at the Jail
Alma thinks about her baby, her eyes, her smiles and this injustice that has ripped her from her baby.  She is dying being away from her baby.

At Alma’s
Jesus tells Luisa that her mom is strong and with his namesake’s help this will end and she will be back very soon.  He loves Alma will all of his being.  Be strong, Alma.

Jail
Alma’s cellmate wants to know, whom did she kill?  No one, yes, innocent just like everyone else.  Alma doesn’t remember what happened.  She is called Tecolota becaseu she doesn’t sleep; Alma’s crying kept her up all night.  Alma misses her newborn baby.  Tecolota has two kids that sees on Sundays. She is in jail for homicide too.

At Marcia’s
Marcia reads the newspaper that says that Alma killed her sister.

At Avon
Xochy is 2 days pregnant.  Great, now there will be another whiner in Monterey.  Marisela has no news abut Ricardo; She looked for him all night and nothing.

Jail
Tecolota points out a tattooed inmate with braids who is throwing daggers at Alma, named the Hyena, nothing funny about her. Be careful.

Agent Suarez’s Office
Jesus introduces Agent Torres to Agent Suarez.  Jesus pleads Alma’s case.  She is a woman with impeccable characteristics and Agent Suarez says that many an “impeccable” woman has had her 5 minutes defending her child and man due to mental illness.  Alma lost 2 hours from when she went to the pharmacy until she returned outside of the building that they live.  During those two hours the murder took place.  The conclusion- someone drugged her, that’s why she doesn’t remember.  Agent Suarez gave Jesus a really?? Look.  Jesus tells Agent Suarez that Killeronica is behind this all.  There was no mention of a drug or toxology report.  Do you have proof, Jesus?  Jesus thinks that the gun was planted in her car. The agent says that there was DNA of Alma’s at the scene and that her fingerprints were fund on the gun.  It’s a little too obvious.  Jesus insists that Alma is not a killer and that an injustice has been served.  How did Killeronica drug Alma?

At the Killer’s House
There is a knock on the door.  Rogelio wants to talk to Killeronica.  She greets him with a butcher’s knife.  A knife??? What’s going on Killeronica?  Well, I live alone and have to protect myself from myself.  He had baby pictures for her to see but she could care less.  His smile and curls won’t work for now. Okay, then Jesus knows that Alma is innocent and that you have implicated her in Marta’s death.  Killeronica can’t believe that Rogelio is Jesus’ voice.  He is trying to defend Alma.  Killeronica reminds Roger about his illegal business dealings.  Her day will come.  She then stabs and curses Rogelio’s picture.

Jail
The Hyena likes blonde hair and grabs up Alma in the cafeteria.  She is to call her Mrs. Hyena.  The Hyena keeps on touching Alma’s face and everything functions on money there and it smell like Alma is loaded.  Alma wants to know why should give her money and Hyena puts Alma in a chokehold.  Oh boy, Alma is not built for this place.   Her cellmate gives her rule number one- don’t snitch to the guards.

Outside of Agent Suarez’s Office
Agent Torres tells Jesus he can’t see Alma until she is formally charged.  Jesus calls Astudillo.

Alma’s
Panfilo wants Chatita to explain to him why Marta pushed her down the stairs.  Its becaseu I knew that she was Marta.  It was her feminine intuition or super Chatita intuition.  Chatita is remembering more.  She wants him to guess what she remembers?  She remembers that she loves Panfilo.  They kiss.

Avon
Jesus is greeted by the crack security team and Paty.  She tries to tell him that someone is waiting for him.  The gossip league tries to tell him too.  Marcia and Julio are waiting in his office.  Marcia knows according to the newspaper that Alma killed her sister.

Jail
Alma misses her baby. Tecolota tells Alma that she will only be able to see her baby on Sundays.  Her cellmate is serving 20 years because it was not premeditated.  Alma’s crime was premeditated so the least that she will get will be 30 years and her baby will be woman.

Avon
Marcia believes what she reads.  Astudillo interrupts that visit and Jesus wants to see Alma but that is impossible until her legal situation is determined.  He wasn’t to know how to drug someone, by a drink and injection, how??  Julio is worried about Ricardo. They have to do something.  Xochy bursts into Ferny’s office and babbles on and finally tells Ferny that she is pregnant.  She is two days late.  (Spare me the details)   Rogelio, no longer grumpy but cheerless arrives to work and wonders why Paty is not home babysitting for Fernandito.  Domitilia is on the case. He needs to talk to Paty.

Jail
Astudillo is interviewing Alma to find out if she drank anything before because Jesus believes that she was drugged.  She needs to see Jesus.  It will be in a few days, their hands are tied.  Astudillo shows her a family picture and she thought bubbles back to the delivery and the days after.  Jesus is thought bubbling the same thoughts.
Chatita calls Jesus because Luisa is burning with fever!!!!!

Coming attractions;
Injustice for Alma, no surprise there and the snake Killeronica’s vengeance has no limits.

I am so waiting for your wonderful masterpiece before I comment : )

Aww, thank you
I'm wrapping it up. I had a late start tonight. :-)

I have to give kudos to Rogelio for standing his ground in front of a knife wielding psycho.

TJ:

Thanks so very much for this wonderful, marvelous masterpiece.

Killeronica is definitely BSC. She should be in the manicomio, but I'd rather she got hit with the piecart full of those anvils she so richly deserves. I just knew she must have done it, blonde wig and hair tossing. She's a genius? Meh, not so much. I hope she gets hung by her own petard and soon!!!!!

Now that Xochi suspects she is preggers, maybe she will stop the whining, one can hope.......

Love all the support that Chucho is getting from everyone, especially Rog. How great was it for Rog to stand his ground with that BSC Beyotch???? TJ, I so agree with you there!!

I don't like Det Suarez's 'tude but he is going on all the evidence he has. Why isn't he thinking about how convenient all the evidence was right there in front of him? I think Alma was drugged too and it had to be between the time she exited the car and got back into it. Maybe something was left in the car while she was gone, got it on herself and it caused her to black out. Not a spoiler, just my own musings.

Oh, and the woman playing her cellmate, great actress, she was in La Verdad Oculta as an architect and in Destilando Amor as a victim of her Uncle who raped her constantly and she finally killed him. Bibelot Mansoor is her name.

Bibelot Mansoor was Rossy in Querida Enemiga. I was watching this novela on a binge one day and recognized the voice. Here, it was the headband that pulled it together for me since Rossy wore head-wraps LOL.

Alma should have applied Rule #1 for riding public transit and that evidently is also a useful rule in jail: Don' t stare at anybody! But she probably never rode the bus or train, so how was she to know? She should have kept her eyes on her lunch tray in line. The part about not snitching to the guards was particularly funny since the guards were standing against the wall and witnessed the whole altercation.

What can we say? Only that Tablet Jefa did a wonderful job yet again!

Jarifa

Thanks TJ. Began to fall asleep early last night (wasn't feeling great) so I needed your wonderful recap to keep me up to date. I actually drifted off with Rog cooing over Louisa with that mega-watt smile. Not a bad image may I say....

With so few episodes left seems like we are getting just a little progress here and there on some characters, but looks like most of our time will be focused on BSC Virus and Alma dealing with jail. Guess this allows Chucho to once again save the day and FC can be dramatic. Oh boy...

I love that Val is old enough to have an inappropriate relationship with a pre-teen boy, but way to young to be told the truth of what is happening to her family. Did anyone ever think she could possibly be in danger too? What about her visitation with mumsy or if she ran into her...shouldn't she be warned somehow?

I don't think Virus is done yet...Should we play darts and guess her next victim?

Daisynjay

I got home a little late last night and what I saw when I turned the tv on was Alma's yellow hair.

I swear it was as yellow as a broom!

Someone should be taking care of that lighting, interior, exterior, juárever it was (once inside it was shiny again), but I guess this late in the game and in such a hurry to finish, who cares?

Made the mistake of watching this last night. BIG mistake. Agree with Daisynjay that Rogelio's mega-watt smile to Luisa was the best part of the show.

In spite of the utter silliness of this plot right now, I can't help reacting when Alma is supposedly separated from her newborn. And talk about a lactating emergency! One's milk doesn't dry up from one argument, and in real life this lady would be in huge discomfort. Sorry to go on a la Leche rant but I HATE THIS STORYLINE. In every way.

Thanks Tablet Jefa for covering it though. You're a trooper and you tell it like it is. Much obliged.

I would like this TN to end tonight, with jesús marrying Alma in jail, she spending the next 30 years in there, and coming out when she is 70 to greet her grandkids. Of course we would see Cerro de la Silla and the clock hands spinning like crazy, Jesús at 80 would look exactly the same, but now Luisita could be played by who else? Blanca Soto!! Valentina is now in her 40s and Quico is her stylist and confidant.
Chatita would still alive like Benjamin Button, better than ever!

Haven't seen this yet and haven't read the recap either, but Bibelot Mansoor's name caught my eye. She's great - so I guess I won't be skipping this episode after all.

Thanks in advance, TJ. Lately I suspect that it's better to read the recap first, before watching, just to be prepared for the inevitable confusion, outrage, and disappointment, alternating with utter boredom of watching Alma and Chucho being bland...

TJ, this was a great recap. I always liked Bibelot Mansoor, so I may have to go back and watch. (Only saw a few minutes before son switched to football.)

Thank you TJ. So many funny lines. I like it when you tell it like it is: "Ricardo is having his own pity party, for which I cannot sympathize. Dumb ass!" Amen sistah!

I like Bibelot Mansoor too. It was great to see her pop into the episode. I don't want any more characters introduced, but since Alma has to have a cellmate it might as well be someone we like.

Thanks TJ. Another ep where I only watched the last 10 minutes (will catch up this weekend). Can't believe how I've gone from really liking this TN to really not caring what happens.

OT: Vivi: thanks for the LRDS info. I'm keeping a look out for it's start date. According to Wiki, it was only 63 eps!!!! Kind of like that.

Did anybody heard that Televisa was remaking ESDLC?

Thank you all for your compliments, because these episodes are difficult to sit through especially since they are no longer funny.
Madelaine - thank you for noting Bibelot Mansoor, I didn't see Queridas Enemigas but I do remember her now from Destilando Amor.
Pablo- I totally agree with you, what a great and humorous ending.

Pablo:

What is ESDLC?

TJ- Fabulous recap. Thanks for sticking with this and giving is a complete recap. I didn't watch, so I especially needed the recap.

I also like Bibelot. She has a unique look. She has been taking increasingly smaller roles. I wonder what's up with that? I enjoyed her in QE and LVO. But I last saw her in a tiny role in Amorcito Corazon, and this role sounds even smaller.

Sorry, is El Señor de los Cielos.

What? Why would Televisa remake it? It takes place in Mexico and most of the characters/actors are Mexican? They even showed it simultaneously in Mexico when it was on Telemundo.

Pablo:

No I haven't heard anything about that. Wasn't it a hit on Telemundo? Maybe they will make a continuation of it or a parte dos.

Some of y'all were talking about the dramatic shift in tone, and I agree. It's been hard to watch the latest horrors to happen to Chatita, Valentina & now Alma. The earlier conflicts involving Jesus I felt were necessary to show his character but the thing happening now seem so out of place & ridiculous, it's not even funny. I saw this initially as a light hearted novela, but its rarely the case now. I'll keep watching as a fan but these last weeks are rough.

I'd like to hear opinions on whether this abrupt downturn is because of the Elias fiasco, or just a major brain fart.

I would like to review some episodes to see the difference BEL and AEL.

It could be obvious, because before Elías left, Verónica was annoying but not sanguinary, and AEL all hell broke loose. Maybe the writer(s) felt that to fill up the rest, they needed to include more kidnappings, threats, killings, and such, instead of showing us how beautiful and pretty families can be when they love each other so much, and then focus on all the couples we have, Alma, Chatita, Susana, Marisela, Jéssica, Aída, Xóchitl, Ivonne, and so on forever...

Well... the Elias fiasco could have been used as an opportunity to go in a different direction... maybe a better direction. But in reality I don't think it changed much of anything.

I suspect that Eli's early departure forced the writers/sloths/possums to make Rogelio a nicer guy so that Paty could get back together with him. Other than that? Vero was already increasingly vengeful. And Eli probably had nothing to do with Marta's storyline, which has been the one that's really been annoying me. Ricardo going bankrupt? NOthing to do with Eli. Xochi being a basket case? Nothing new there.

What I'm saying is that most of this grim stuff was already in motion or was poised to happen. I don't know if the Colombian version got like this towards the end, but considering how severe a lot of UFCS was, I'd say this is just the way Juan Osorio Ortiz likes to roll. Eli or no Eli.

A minimally competent professional writer should be able to write a character out of a story without changing the entire tone of the program. There are already so many characters in PEAM that they didn't HAVE to add more in. But they did. A crowded set is no substitute for good storytelling.

So I'm going with a collective brain fart.

Thanks Pablo and Julie for your feedback. I don't know the producers/writers of the TNs as well as most of you, so I didn't know if it was a situational thing or the "Meija" syndrome.

Julie, you have more background on the producer than I do. So it's his MO, is it? Pah!

Thanks Sylvia. Just shaking my head at the fairly abrupt turn this TN took. Trying to make sense of it. I know. I know. This is TN world.

Sylvia, did you see UFCS? I'm not sure what stage of the story the rerun is at now, and I don't want to give any spoilers, but that TN had the most depressing wedding I've ever seen. (Among numerous other very gloomy turns.) I mostly enjoyed it anyway, but the guy has some weird ideas about insanity, women, and humor. And people attempting to jump off of overpasses, apparently.

Holy crap, I just realized I still haven't even read the recap. FOr all I know, maybe Ricardo went splat. I should probably find out before commenting further. ;-)

Julie, I watched it for a while pretty regularly, then I got busy with other things and watched intermittently. So I don't actually remember the ending all that well. I remember the doggies Popeye and Abeja, and the terrific boyfriend Alex who died at the wedding altar. I think I kind of stopped watching so regularly after that.

I didn't watch UFCS because I had already watched LOS SANCHEZ, Azteca's remake of LOS ROLDAN.
Mundo Fox is airing LOS REYES, the colombian remake of the same.

I remember liking LOS SANCHEZ because (in that time, before UFCS) was very funny (fish out of water) and the company Mr Sánchez received from the old lady, was not real. So I like when people don't want to include commercials in the Tns. Anyhow, I have been tempted to watch LOS REYES, but always forget.

TJ thanks for your recap and sorry this tn has become such a mess.

Julie:

The wedding on UFCS has already happened, Pina has lost her bebe, Pina wants a divorce and is on Pancho's side now, and Rebe and Pancho just got engaged and Chela and Enzzo are muy attracted to each other, but the kids and Pancho aren't down with that, and Moni has met Violetta.

Ah, so they've already seen Mr. Perfect drop dead at his own wedding. I'm still traumatized by that one. Chela's hopeless devotion to Pancho grew very tiresome. The maid's luck wasn't so great either. Elena's story bummed me out too. And don't even get me started on Violeta. I also remember a festering hand, and let's not forget about all the cancer.

Yeah... from now on I'm going to have this rule that if I feel like watching a drama, I'll watch a drama. If it's a comedy, IT HAS TO BE FUNNY!

Oh, plus Candy's whole backstory. That wasn't exactly hilarious either. :(

Oh whoops, I shouldn't have blabbed. I forgot it's being shown right now. Sorry! I'm glad I didn't tell any spoilers.

I also recall wishing the young son (Temo?) would fall down the well.

Can you tell, I am still watching UFCS at night, lol? I missed the first four epis when they showed it the first time on UNI so I caught up with that, and stayed with it, even though I helped recap it and saw it already. I really liked the Enzzo and Chela romance. It was pretty hawt, Enzzo that is, sigh!

Candy's back story wasn't nice at all, agreed for sure.

Yeah and Dona Fern and the cancer. She's already been to Germany for treatment.

I did like this TN and it was way funnier than this one, I must say.

Veronica knows how to hire low-lifes for some reason. I think the two guys following Alma somehow got into her car when she went into the store, then chloroformed her just enough to put her out for a little while (while Veronica did the deed), drove her to her apartment, and left her to wake up all disoriented.

Good thing the guards are there to keep order while the female inmates have a free-for-all! Must've been a slow day and they needed a free show. They just stood there watching!

I don't think Xochitl will settle down any at all. Now that she's pregnant, she'll be all hormonal - can you imagine poor Fernando living with a crying, whining, pouting mess for NINE MONTHS?? She's only TWO DAYS late on her period! Hay, que aguante!

Not liking Jesus' hero syndrome right now - "Nobody can solve this crime and free Alma but me!" He's even dragging poor Delia into his stupid rants and excesses.

Also not liking his snide looks and smirks at Rogelio. Rogelio's been the bane of his existence, but at least he's trying to turn over a new leaf now. I though Jesus was supposed to be a nice, forgiving person.

OT:
Today I had the opportunity to watch the first episode of LIBRE PARA AMARTE, and I don't need to watch the other 180. Is PEAM all over (la misma gata pero revolcada).

Check to see the similarities:

Viva la familia!
Taxi driver me, Never!
Switch secretaries for Taxi drivers (solidaridad de gremio, remember?)
There is a girl whose step father calls ''princesa'', her mom is queen.
Queen is also a superhero (saved a boy from dorwning in CanCún)
They also take pictures with a phone that has the same obnoxious ring tone.
They have a mascot, animated crocodile
There's another absent minded mother
There is another fraud

The only plus, for you, Gabriel Soto shirtless and another cute guy from the taxi place.

Despite the relationsip between the protagonist (Trevi) and her beau (a very fat Santamarina) I am sure she wil end up with Soto... from hate to love there's only one step.

Cr*p! My twin brother Blapo didn't die when Alma shot him! Never mind him!

Pablo:

Bwahhhaaa.

Cap'n:

Temo goes into the well on Friday evening I just saw it! You got your wish ; )

What??? OMG That's so funny! I remember him falling in and wishing nobody would find him. What a weird coincidence that episode would air tonight of all nights. OK, I'm a little creeped out now.
