Lo Que la Vida me Robo #4- 11/22/13: Dimmy Dim Dim Did A Bad, Bad Thing!

Ahoy, Amigis! I couldn't let go of the Nautical Theme we had going on LT. We do have the Naval element here ; ) I too am having withdrawls but as Ms. NovelaMaven quoted me, that ship has indeed sailed. At least we have a couple hunks and that gorgeous beach, and who knows maybe some shirtless beach scenes ; )

The Poor Fool According To Dimi:
Monse (Monserrat) and JL (Jose Luis) are making out on the beach and Dimi sees all. He thinks so that's the poor fool Monse is hooking up with! JL sees that Monse is worried about the running away and getting married. She isn't doubting, just thinks it won't be easy, seeing as they have no moola. JL lets her know he will get some lana (money) but she has this piece of land her Tia left her, and someone is interested in it, she could sell. JL doesn't want her doing that. He'll take care of her and everything she needs cause, say it with me Y'all, Te Amo!

The Smart Sexy Man:
Ale (Alejandro) is with that dirty dealing Bruno and wants to know how he got ahold of these documents (the promissory note and the deed). Well, you see Bruno tells him, Dimmy Dim Dim (Dimitri or Triple D) has been borrowing huge amounts of money from him. Since Dimmy Dim Dim couldn't pay him back the Admiral  signed a promissory note and the deed is collateral. Ale wants to know how it is that the Mendoza family, who rumor has it, doesn't have this kind of moola laying around, do tell! Bruno tells him although they have put up a good front, the family isn't as moneyed as it used to be. They are about to lose it all! Ale will take the promissory note and the deed and Bruno asks him if he'd like an envelope with that? Yeah, and by the by, think of the voice of The Donald, Bruno is fired! Bruno doesn't look surprised.

I Always Feel Like Somebody's Watching Me:
Pobrecita Monse, can't catch a break. As soon as JL leaves here comes Dimmy Dim Dim to give her a piece of his mind. He can't beleive he thought she was so innocent and here she is sucking the face off this guy. No wonder Sebas (Sebastian) wouldn't marry her. Well, she must have a thing for the sailors! Monse tells him that this guy, Cabo Jose Luis, is her boyfriend, and she is marrying him. Dimmy Dim Dim, looking out for himself of course, says the guy's got no money. Monse doesn't care, she's in love, JL works hard for the money, so hard for it honey, and she could care less about money and power the way Dimmy Dim Dim does, and he better not be giving a word to their Motha either! She goes off, and he can't believe it. Will he blab? We'll get to that in a tick.

The Girl Can't Help It:
Maria is having a pity party for one, so much so, she won't go riding. Gaspar tries to convince her, but she isn't going, too worried about Ale you see. He hasn't been home and she hasn't been allowed to go with Victor to Agua Azul (Blue Water). The cook (can't remember her name), I'll call her Cookie tells Maria that Ale is busy working, she'll only get in the way. Well, Maria is all in a huff, cause Ale met a woman there and if he sees her again.... The cook tells her it isn't as if Ale is coming back married or anything! Hmmmmmm...........

Ale and Victor Have a Chin Wag:
Victor has come to see Ale in Agua Azul to update him on the hacienda, everything is fine there and Maria sends her regards. She wanted to come with Vic but he told her best not to. Vic asks about the factory. It has alot of problems. Seems Bruno has been stealing from the factory for years and Ale just fired him. Vic thinks he should have sent Bruno to jail. Well, Ale was going to, but he made a little deal with him.

Juvie and Bruno Chew The Fat:
Bruno wants to know to what does he owe the pleasure of Juvie's company? Seems Juvie (Juventino) wants to sell Bruno that bracelet that Gracie (Graciela) gave him. Can he buy it, and don't try to pull a fast one on Juvie either. Juvie knows it's expensive he's already checked. Bruno knows this but right now he is unable to buy it especially after what just happened to him. Don Alejandro Almonte just fired him! Juvie laughs, can't believe it, he always told Bruno to be careful or he'd be caught. Well, Bruno doesn't take this lying down, he rolled his eyes, after all, he tells Juvie to watch his step cause Ale can find out how much Juvie has stolen from the hacienda. That shuts his mouth! Juvie isn't looking too pleased.

Gracie Gets The Skinny (the sort of truth) from Dimmy Dim Dim:
Gracie has run into Dimmy Dim Dim and wants to know what is up? Did he get more time to pay the debt? Well, you could say that. She is sooo relieved. Just you wait Gracie. Dimmy Dim Dim tells her that he forged his Papa's signature on a prommisory note. So there! Gracie is pithed! Oh, and that ain't all, I gave up the deed to the house. Gracie is beyond pithed. She thinks Dimmy Dim Dim has lost his mind. The Deed to the house for one million pesos! Is he insane? So sorry he has already given the deed to the house. As soon as he pays the debt, he'll get all that back. Gracie wants to know how in the hell she is supposed to come up with that money without his Papa the Admiral finding out. Sell her jewels of course. She is sooo pithed, but doesn't get to answer him cause Lauro wants a word. She leaves Dimmy Dim Dim and his smug self and goes with Lauro.

The Mortgage is Due:
Lauro informs Gracie that they need to pay the mortgage on the hacienda. Well, how are they gonna do that? Get a mortgage on the house to pay for the hacienda. It would be better to lose the house than the hacienda. Gracie is having one hell of a financial day, wouldn't you say? What are the options and when does this happen? As soon as the lawyer finalizes the deal. Gracie isn't liking this. There has got to be another way. What way? Well there is the deal that fell through, ya know the one, Sebas (Sebastian) marrying Monse, if they could kiss and make up, problem solved! Lauro tells her he won't sell  his daughter for financial gain y punto! Gracie feels if Lauro just tells her what is going on, Monse will cave, don't be so stubborn she tells Lauro. He isn't having it, we will not sacrifice our daughter y punto! Do you hear me, do you care? Never! Monse comes in on the argument and wants to know what's wrong, ask your Papa, Gracie says and huffs out. Lauro has a bit of an attack and Monse rushes to give him some pills.

Gracie Makes Her Demand:
She tells Dimi she needs that deed y pronto! Well as soon as Bruno gets paid he'll get them back. Lottie (Carlotta) comes upon them and deduces that Gracie is upset cause Dimmy Dim Dim caused it. Right on Lottie! Dimmy Dim Dim snorts at Lottie and she tells him to cut it out. Lottie also blames Gracie for Dimmy being the way he is, if only Gracie had been stricter with Dimmy, to which Gracie tells her to shut it! And why is that? She asks Dimmy to go so she can talk to Lottie alone. Will she blab? Gracie needs her help to fix it with Sebas and Monse. If he could just come back and marry Monse. Lottie isn't down with that, who knows why they broke up and if he cared enough he wouldn't have gone back to London. What about that handsome Ale? Well, Gracie isn't down with that. First of all he is a bastardo and second of all he is a son of a filthy peasant woman (her words not mine) and that ole Benny (Benjamin). Gracie wants them to put their heads together to get Sebas to marry Monse.

Vic and Ale Do Dinner:
Ale asks Vic if he remembas the woman he told him about. Ya know the amante of ole Benny? Well she happens to be the wife of a respected guy in town, Admiral Mendoza. She even came to see Ale to ask him not to say anything. Ale has also met her husband the Admiral. What was said when she found out that Ale inherited all that moola? She put up a good front, but Ale is sure Gracie hates him. Gracie is a bad person, but her daughter, ah she is a beauty. Vic thinks if Monse is like her Mama, Ale will have some play time with her. Ale tells Vic he may have his Papa name but he isn't anything like him y punto. Ale isn't going there.

Gracie's Eye and the Window to Her Soul:
Gracie is reminacing about ole Benny as she strokes a bracelet in her hand. She remembas him telling her that he loved her wild and passionate spirit and she was the best lova in the world. He'll reward her for that, and she is sooo full of herself as she gloats. She loves the bracelet and he puts it on for her. It's fit for a queen. Besos! Lauro interrupts her little reverie. He knows she's upset with the way things are right now, but they'll get better, trust him! Be patient, patience is a virtue after all, and they'll get back on their feet.

JL and Refugio Have a Drink:
JL is having a drink with his bestie Refugio (Carlos de la Motta, love this actor) and wants to know how it's going with his novia. He tells Refugio they are running off to get married in Vera Cruz. Refugio can't believe it. You see the family would never approve of him marrying Monse so the best thing to do is to elope. It's cause JL is crazy in love with Monse. JL tells Refugio he does need some moola, to which Refugio tells him there is a guy in town, let's see, oh, yeah, his name is Bruno Gamboa, go see the guy.

Who's That Knocking On My Door:
Gracie and Dimmy Dim Dim have come to see Bruno. To what does he owe the pleasure of this visit. It's the deed you see. The jewelery should be recompense enough to get that deed back. Oh, indeed it's more than enough, but you see Bruno doesn't have the deed or prommisory note anymore. Que, Que???? You see Don Ale took them from me. Dimmy Dim Dim grabs Bruno. Bruno shoves him and pulls a gun. Gracie puts Dimmy behind her and faces that gun. Gracie doesn't want Bruno hurting her boy. Well Dimmy wants to know why Don Ale has those documents. Bruno tells them Don Ale "forced" him to give them to him. Well, he gives them an explanation cause Gracie doesn't quite understand. Well, since Don Ale is the new owner of the factory, seems it came up that Bruno ended up "owing, meaning stolen" to Don Ale and he took those documents as payment and he wasn't gonna argue with Don Ale. Oh, and nice jewels by the way. Gracie and Dimmy are leaving and Dimmy threatens to kill Bruno. Bruno still has the gun and says well Dimmy you know where I live, I'll be waiting......... Once they are outside Gracie gives Dimmy what for, for causing all this hoo haa and to go home and wait for Mommy. And for the love of Dios, stop acting like an idiot. Wishful thinking!

Ale Has a Meet With Monse:
Monse has come to see Ale with a propostion, what type you ask? I'll tell you. She's come to see if he is still interested in that parcel of land he asked about. Of course he is and that ain't all. Er, back to the convo. She wants to sell him that parcel of land as quickly as possible. Why the hurry he wants to know. Oh, it's personal she says. Does her family know. No, Monse doesn't want them finding out either, please be discreet. No worries. He'll give her a fair price too, which he writes down for her so she can take a gander (look see). She accepts and wants the money in cash. Please contact her when she can come and sign and get the moola. He'll let her know. He hopes this is the start of a beautiful, er, friendship between them. She goes and as she does, Vic comes running in and says who's that lady, beautiful lady. Oh, that's Monserrat Mendoza if you please.

JL Goes to See Bruno and What Does He Find?
JL has come to see Bruno about some moola, and walks in and finds him on the floor. JL is floored that's for sure. JL is checking for a pulse when Bruno's housekeeper comes in. She accuses JL of killing her boss. JL has the deer in the headlights look. We'll get back to them in a tick.

The Mendozas Sure Like Ale:
Gracie has come to see Ale about those documents. She lets him know about Dimmy who he doesn't know, is a reckless boy and gave those documents to a man, and tells Ale you know who I'm talkin about. You know that admistrator of yours. Well the fact is Dimmy forged the Admiral's signature on the prommisory note and she'd like to have those documents back. See, if the Admiral finds out what Dimmy Dim Dim did, he'll kick him out. Got that? Well, Ale explains to her that Bruno gave those documents to him as a form of payment for a debt. She gets that, but is hard up economically and she has to sell some jewelry and that can take days. So he makes a deal with her. She stands up as he does, and gets within kissing distance of her. She thinks he's attracted to her, but rejected! He is so interested in her daughter, and that's the deal!

I Was In the Right Place, But It Must Have Been The Wrong Time:
He tells the housekeeper to calm down, he didn't kill Bruno. The door was open and he found him this way. JL shows the housekeeper his Military I.D. and tells her he is going to call the authorities. Please go out and don't touch anything. He whips out his cellphone and does just that.

Gracie Considers the Deal:
So he likes her daughter. Well, yeah, he's met her a couple of times, no funky bidness and likes her. So if Monse's family would accept him, in case something more happens. Gracie is a dunce and wants to know what he is talkin' about? Well, you see, Ale is looking to get married and have a family and Monse fits the bill. Well, she can't be doing this in a convo. He has to talk to Lauro and Monse herself. Gracie tells him noone can tell Monse what to do, she's a rebel. Well, Ale is okay with that, he wouldn't want to force her to do anything she isn't willing to do. Gracie plays her trump card and says there is still a serious problem, ya know being a bastardo and all. He gets that. She says money means nothing to her, ummm liar, liar pants on fire, but her family is old and prestigious in Agua Azul and well he is just the son of a lowly servant that grew up as a servant. In other words sucks to be you, Ale! Well Ale sweetens the deal. He'll pay all and he means all of the Mendoza debts if she would allow him to be a suitor to her daughter, don't be telling anyone either, especially to Monse, he doesn't want any misunderstandings. Well, she'll need a few days to think about it. And those documents? He goes to get them for her as she smiles her smarmy grin.

With My Naked Eye, I Saw:
Lottie asks Dimmy what is he looking for. Oh, nothing, he's in his room. Is it drugs she wants to know or something like that. He starts off saying she must be losing it and then gets in her face and screams at her to "GET OUT" and don't come into his room again without knocking. Lottie is shocked. She goes but doesn't trust him and besides he's rude. Dimmy finally finds what he is looking for. It's a gun, he and his naked eye, recall him demanding those documents from Bruno, fighting over the gun, Dimmy shooting him and Bruno dying. Dimmy took the gun and now it's in his room wrapped in shirt. He finally hides it behind an upright bureau and looks pleased with himself.

JL Gets Grilled:
The cop is getting the story from JL about how he found the door open, went in, found Bruno dead and he didn't notice anyone leaving as he was looking at the address on this piece of paper he had with directions on how to get here. He pulls the paper from his pocket. The other cop comes from outside and says they've searched and the murder weapon is missing. Now comes the Naval Capitan to find out what is going on with Cabo Alvarez. He heard tell one of his men was mixed up in a crime, and he will by gum cooperate fully. Cabo Alverez promises to do so. He has to go downtown to the police station to make a statement.

Lottie Has Managed An In:
Gracie comes home and wakes a sleepy Lottie who says she managed an invite to see Violetta (Sebas' Moms) at five for coffee. Lottie isn't really happy to be doing this as in going behind Lauro and Monse's backs and here comes Dimmy. Gracie wants some alone time with Dimmy and Lottie isn't happy. They go into the office as Lottie listens at the door and Monse catches her. Wants to know what she's doing. Seems Lottie is feeling left out some, cause noone tells her anything. She goes off in a huff as Monse shakes her head.

Dimmy Dim Dim Thinks They Are In The Money:
Gracie is putting the deed back in the safe and Dimmy is surprised she has them, must have sold her jewelry. Gracie tells him to stop being an A$$hat, well you know, no that, but stupid. He had the nerve to take the deed, to a shylock no less and if his Daddy ever found out he'd be toast. Gracie hasn't told his Daddy just for that reason. She tells him to stop living the life he was used to cause they are on the point of losing it all. If they don't come up with a solution and soon, they will lose not only the house and hacienda, but also their oh so precious social status, their good name will be in the dirt. They will be shunned I tell you! They will be poor, for shame! He wants to know the deal with Ale. Well in exchange for those documents Ale wants to date Monse. Ya don't say from Dimmy Dim Dim. Not only that, he wants to marry Monse. Dimmy Dim Dim thinks this is perfectly awesome dude! Gracie doesn't agree, being the son of a filthy peasant (her words not mine) and being a bastardo to boot isn't who she imagined Monse marrying, tainted blood you see. Dimmy tells her no never mind, think of all the moola we could get from him and besides Dimmy could work at Ale's factory. I bet he thinks Ale is estupido. I got news for him. Anyhoo, she wants to go another way. He just wants all the money Ale can provide for the family, meaning him, cause he's willing to pay all their outstanding debts. Dimmy tells her to think about it.

Ale and Vic Do Lunch:
Vic never thought Ale would try to buy himself a wife. Well Gracie was a force to be reckoned with, she has a knack of humiliating him and he wanted to show her, he was better than her. He shouldn't have done it, but he soooo likes that Monse. Vic thinks he would have done better with someone like Maria, well that's all well and good, he didn't think he'd fall for Monse, but it's okay, the Mendoza's would rather be broke than have him in the family. Lauro happens to be doing lunch with someone named Vicente and goes over to say hidey ho to Ale. Ale introduces him to Vic. Lauro asks how the people accepted him after the inheritance and all. Well he hasn't had time to be doing that. Lauro feels a young man, such as himself, should have some play time. Why not come for coffee talk sometime? Ale would love to.

Looking Out To Sea:
Monse has come to meet her beau, on that gorgeous shoreline, with that sugary white sand. No JL in sight. She looks out to sea with the beautiful green and aqua colored water, just waiting.

Meanwhile At Police Headquarters:
JL is giving his statement and asks how much longer it's gonna take, things to do, places to go, not that, but he's wondering. Well this is a homicide bud roe, this takes time!

Gracie and Lottie Pay A Little Visit To Violetta:
Gracie and Lottie are at Violetta's and Gracie is trying so hard to make Vio see, there must be some misunderstanding, must be some kind of mistake, in other words isn't there still a chance that Sebas and Monse could ya know, get married. Gracie loves the coffee, but Lottie ,its a bit weak for her. I am loving Lottie and her frank speaking! According to Gracie, Monse hasn't stopped crying since Sebas went back to London, she is sooo heartbroken. Why did they break up? Gracie doesn't seem to know. Between them they could fix this si? Er, No! Sebas isn't into Monse anymore, she isn't so innocent. Lottie jumps to Monse's defence and says she's a decent girl, quit talking smack about her. Well the chisme is that Monse ain't all that and the only reason Gracie is so hot to marry Monse off to Sebas is the money problems she's having, Vio has heard all the chisme. Vio even knows that Lauro's bidnesses aren't doing well either. Gracie flatly denies any such thing.

No Beach Bunny Here:
It's dark and JL is running on the beach looking for his Monse, who is long gone. Pobrecito!

Lauro and Monse Have a Chat:
Lauro asks Monse where's she's been. Just for a walk. And Mama? She's out with Lottie. So why so sad he asks her? Nothing Daddy, oh sure there is come talk to me. Monse knows her Daddy asked her not to date right yet, the breakup ya know, but she really wants a boyfriend, someone she could marry. Her Daddy isn't against the idea, he likes the idea of grandchildren, but there isn't any rush. Well what if she met someone not in their social class for instance? Someone that doesn't have a bidness, or properites, just a simple intelligent guy that works hard. How about that? He really has nothing against that, but when she marries he would like her to marrry someone that can give her the lifestyle she is accustomed to having. Monse's face falls. Daddy wants to know where this came from? Monse says forget about it, as Dimmy Dim Dim listens in. Here come Lottie and Gracie and when Lauro asks where they've been she says the Church trying to explain to them why they haven't given as much as they usually do. Lauro picks this time to have a chat with Dimmy Dim Dim in his office. Oh, and by the by he has invited Ale over for coffee tomorrow. Vamanos Dimmy!

The What Are You Gonna Do With Your Life Talk:
Lauro basically asks Dimmy Dim Dim what he is gonna do with his life. Can't be lazing around doing nothing and as a matter of fact when he was his age he was doing things, and by the way he'll have a chat with the Capitan and how about joining the Navy? Dimmy don't want that. Well too bad Lauro is gonna do that anyway, and Dimmy tells him that ship has sailed, really he did. Well since Dimmy feels that way, leave the house y punto! No choice, he's out!

Gracie Doesn't Have A Clue:
Gracie is speaking with Lottie and can't understand what Vio meant about chisme about Monse in town. What is Monse doing to impugne her innocence. She doesn't get what Monse could be doing. Lottie thinks it's a bunch of bull thought up by Vio that old hag. Dimmy Dim Dim comes out and tells Gracie and Lottie his Daddy told him, either he joins the Navy or his Daddy is kicking him out of the house. Lottie thinks it's about time and Dimmy is 28 can you beleive it, and feels he's too old to be putting up with the violence there, the fighting etc. I got some news for him! I bet there'd be violence on him cause he's a stupid A$$Hat, jus' sayin'. Lottie thinks he is a whiner and says his Daddy would insure he'd be a paper shuffler, cause well, he isn't qualified for anything else. Oh, SNAP! Monse comes in about some pie, but Lottie doesn't wanna go just yet, things are interesting, but Gracie tells her to run along to the kitchen now. She wants to talk to Dimmy Dim Dim alone. Dimmy doesn't wanna be going in no Navy y punto. Slap Daddy upside the head he tells Gracie. Gracie wants him to find a job, any job to appease Daddy. Dimmy is so not down with work. What a waiter, jamas! Gracie says they all may have to work because of the economic situation. Well didn't Dimmy hear that Ale was coming on the morrow. Answer to all our problemas! And Gracie better make a decision cause Monse is already dating someone. Well when he followed Monse he found her with some Cabo of the Navy and that's who she is dating. Shut The Front Door Irene! Gracie is fit to be tied. Que? Oh and not only that, Monse is in love with the guy and not only that but when she tells Daddy, he'll go along with it. He asks his Mama what would she prefer, a rich bastardo or a poor sailor, take her pick. The doorbell rings and here come the cops looking for one Demitrio Mendoza! Cara de impactados de Lauro, Gracie and Dimmy Dim Dim. End of Epi!

Avances:

Gracie catches JL and Monsie in the clinch!

Ale comes to the Mendoza's for that Coffee Talk.

Tune in Este Lunes and Ms Gloria will tell you all about it. MUST SEE TV!

Hola Y'all! Sorry for the wait and the rather long recap. Please enjoy ; )

Thanks, Mads! That was a corker!

I can't believe they've shut down the Luis Gatica table, and I'd barely had a sip of my Bloody Bruno.

P.S. Love the song titles. Your brain must be organized like a jukebox. ;}

Oh, nooo! Bruno is gone already? I couldn't believe it. Maybe the powers that be decided he shouldn't be a bad guy too long. He was a great character, though. I loved how he switched personalities in a minute, mean ol' scary thug to fawning yes-man. Love Luis Gatica! He will be missed.

Thanks for a great, incredibly detailed recap, Mads. Really rich and textured. I love the DIMMY DIM DIM lines. I wonder if that actor is contractually obliged by Televisa to maintain his uni-brow. He had it when he played another dim brother (of Ana-Paula) in LQNPA, too!

Also, that scene where Graciela thought Ale was coming on to her was really freaky, though very well played by both of them.

Can I just say that I love Sebastián Rulli? When I first saw the clips of him in the promotions for AV, he did nothing for me, but after I watched him in it, he completely won me over, and I think he is a very good actor. But now I am totally biased in his favor and can only think he is great in everything.

I really like Alejandro, are we finally gettting a galan with a working brain? I also enjoy the fact that our leading lady does not seem to be a push over, and I especially love how much Carlotta dislikes Dim Dim "are you hiding drugs?! That's what people like you do!"

Madelaine: A Saturday evening treat. This was a rich serving, brimming with delicious details and savory, sassy observations. "Dimmy Dim Dim (Dimitri or Triple D), "Of course he is and that ain't all" and "...she smiles her smarmy grin" were a few of my favorites. Best line: "I bet there'd be violence on him cause he's a stupid A$$Hat, jus' sayin'". Excellent!

Like Anon, I am mourning Luis Gatica's most inopportune, disappointing early exit. Blue Lass: "I'd barely had a sip of my Bloody Bruno" was perfect. The character (and actor) were mesmerizing and the surface of his dirty dealings were just beginning to be scratched.

I guess that leaves Juvie to continue the dirty work. Hey, Alberto Estrella is great but Luis will be missed. Hopefully, a longer part is in store for him quickly.

Dismayed that Ale making a deal with the devil (Graciela). Monserrat is not a piece of property, not a bargaining chip. The entire proposition made me very uncomfortable.

Oh and I have to ask, was Graciela actually wearing white ankle socks with frilly tops?? Her crimes against fashion and good taste have already been well documentted here.

Julia, did you see Pasion? Reviews were mixed but I loved it. It was the first time I saw Rulli and Colunga (as well as Levy). Ruli and Colunga were both marvelous. I've been disappointed in every role Colunga has had since. However, Rulli seems to have grown as an actor and I'm really liking him here. Levy shone in LT and also matured as an actor.

Madelaine, a fantastic summary! Thank you for all of your time and effort - this was DamFab...

Diana

Excellent recap, Mads!

Alejandro knows he was wrong to make that proposition. We can bet it will come back to bite him in the butt much later when Monse finds out about the "deal."

SR has definitely gotten better with each tn. Nice to see an actor improve his craft. He's not hard on the eyes, either. I like that Ale is smart, but is not perfect.

Sad to see Bruno go so soon, but his murder will set a lot of action in motion, I'm guessing. I think we will also soon be seeing Luis Gatica as a bad guy in Mentir Para Vivir (there have been hints), so I don't feel so bad about losing him in this tn.

Ale is learning all the dirty secrets of the Mendoza family. He knows Monse meets someone (likely a guy) secretly at night on the beach. He knows the family is broke. He knows Gracie was having a long-term affair with his dad. He knows Dimi was in debt to a loan shark, falsified his dad's signature, and stole the deed to his family's house. He could drag their name through the mud, if he chose to. How dare Gracie still try to make HIM feel ashamed of his background!

Mads thanks so much for this fun recap and your musical selections. Though we are missing LT, the new show, handsome Ale (SR!! Julia you can always express your love of him.) and a fast moving story are pulling me in.

Diana, yes I think those were sock and something else horrible on Graciela's feet. It was her worst fashion crime to date but did make me LOL.

Vivi - yes we know according to tn law Mony will find out about this deal and her wonderful mother will most likely tell it b/c she's so fond of her. I do like that Ale is smart, not perfect, and now has a lot of info on the family. If he were Juvie, he'd be having a field day.

It never ceases to amaze me that being illegitimate is still being held against someone who had no say in that condition. Graciela is proof positive that being To The Manor Born (and what happened to her family's fortune?) is no guarantee of class.

Dimitrio is about as dumb as it gets. He actually thinks they can take advantage of Alejandro whom I am now betting is better-educated than any of them. He's in the driver's seat and Graciela isn't going to like the ride.

Madelaine - Thank you for the great recap.

"Oh and I have to ask, was Graciela actually wearing white ankle socks with frilly tops?? "
Diana - I could not see exactly what was on her feet (drum majorette boots w/pompoms?) but could tell it was something out-of--the-ordinary.
Graci looks and dresses like a cast member from Valley of The Dolls.

More like Phyllis Diller on a bad day.

Love it! Classic Mads with perfect songs and the best descriptions ever. Great title and I'll bet it will definitely be appropriate as long as Dimmy is with us.

But que??? Luis Gatica killed off in the first week? Color me shocked. No wonder he was giving it his all. Pooh, I like him.

"Valley of the Dolls", "Phyllis Diller on a bad day"...oh my, you ladies are on fire. Freakin' brilliant.

Thanks Mads! This is a stupendous recap.

Madelaine - Great recap. Love all the musical titles, but it's "The Girl Can't Help It" that keeps running through my head.

My favorite moment was Graciela's delight thinking that Alejandro's indecent proposal was going to be about "her." I know this is a remake of Amor Real, but it's a beanie moment that in 2013 Alejandro goes straight to wanting to form a family with Monserrat.

Shame on the cameraperson for not showing Graciela's ankle and footwear. I wanted the full kooky effect.

Hi again,

Diana--No, I haven't see Pasión--am fairly new to telenovelas--but from what you say it sounds like I should!

Karen--Thanks for solidarity in appreciation for all things SR!

Glad others are liking SR in this role, too, and Ale in general. I agree with what many of you have said and also find it satisfying to see the lead male character be a smart guy for once.

Mads--thanks again for super recap!

Thanks, mads! for that snappy recap.

Doris..Yes, you are so right. Graci is definitrpely channeling the cast of Valley of the Dolls..Sharon Tate , I believe. She seems to be holding on to a certain look that she must think makes her look like a young hottie.

So far, the story is following many of the plot lines of Amor Real. However, the story made more sense set in the last.

Good Morning Ms. MADS. Always love your take on things, and agree with the commenter that said you must have a Jukebox in your head. Your musical repertoire is just amazing.

As is your juicy way of talking/writing: Chin Wag and Chew the Fat were my favorite headings, but the best part was if we were in a hurry, we could grasp the whole episode just by reading your titles over each paragraph.

Thanks for a tasty, rich, efficient and musical recap, my talented friend. I'm enjoying this story so far. In many ways it deviates from Amor Real, but I'm still liking it. Sebastian Rulli is making a good successor to Fernando Colunga in hunkitis.

Thanks for the recap, Mads. "I am loving Lottie and her frank speaking!" I so agree!
Loved: "No beach bunny here".
Haven't watched the episode, yet, and am a little foggy on why JL was in Jail. Finding Bruno dead? So soon?
The story is visually beautiful, but to have to clamp a titanium beanie so quickly is disturbing-ie, Alejandro already "buying" the right to court Manse. Like a piece of a story out of the century before last.

Emarie- JL wasn't in jail. He was just being questioned by the police since he found the body.

I think those of us who know how this relationship between Monse and Ale start (from the original story) are just going to have to put the beanie on and accept it. It's a totally old fashioned premise, but it's the way this story has to start off. In general, I think they've done a good job of updating the story to mosdern times.

Thanks, Madelaine. Love your funny, conversational style. I haven't seen the novelas this is based on and I think that's kind of an advantage for me. As others have said it is good to have a smart, even slightly dark galan. Have never seen SR in love scenes either but the way his eyes smoldered in a manly swoon when he told Vic he really liked Monse. . .umph umph umph, bet he's gonna be hot! His fake-out of Gracie too when they were in "kissing distance": smart and hot? I think so: he's come up in a wealthy household as a servant being close to the rich folks not only when they were wearing their fancy duds but privy to much dirty laundry as well. I'd rather see a kind of conniving galan whom love redeems than a witless, spinless cute clod, like some.

Lila

Absolutely NO apologies for having a long recap, Madelaine! It was so much fun to read and enjoy. :))

Urban, LOVE your zingers!!

Sebastian Rulli is doing a great job in this role. A man with a brain is so incredibly sexy (mind you, he's a dreamboat anyway).

Fatima

Oh and forgot to mention "Shut the door, Irene!" That one always cracks me up. Sometime, Mads, I'm going to have to give you a call. I'm dying to hear your voice and have a good ol' chin wag with you.

Thanks for dishing the chisme for us, Mads. Very fun!
OK, I watched the episode and I think I am getting the premise. I feel like I am watching "No Que Podia Amor [Nada]" all over again.
Starter Galan, so sweet, will be discarded along the way, probably.
Unibrow guy again playing the black sheep brother-he's going to drag the family down, no doubt. He has pretty green eyes, though, too bad his principles are too high to tame that brow of his. Pero, no importa.

Beautiful scene with Boyer wearing orange complementing the blue of the ocean.

Anyone else think an anvil is hanging over Lauro?

Thanks, Mads! As always, I enjoyed your deft musical and nautical spin on things.

My but these Blue Water folks like to talk. What's a poor recapper to do? The narrative is moving along nicely. (Let's all remember these as the Good Times when the mid-novela doldrums come along.)

I was impressed by the cap/hat brim management skills displayed by our young lovers. If Carlota had been there, she might have yelled out a warning:

Watch out! You're gonna poke your eye out with those things!

Lila- I also enjoyed Ale faking out Gracie in that scene. She really did think for a second that he was hot for her.

For a taste of the chemistry between SR and AB, check out min 4:20 to 8:30 of this clip from Teresa: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qENATxgYMLo

Sometimes they were sexy, sometimes playful, other times violent and intense. They work well together.

Thanks, Vivi, just watched the clip. Day-yam! Yeah, they got it goin' on: expressing desire across all 5 senses that reaches out even from a You Tube clip. Maybe I'll hulu+ that one!

Lila

Thanks Madelaine, this is great as always. I was able to watch the episode this afternoon while reading this recap. It was such a treat... almost like watching it right along with you.

I'm sorry that Bruno was bumped off so soon. I was getting a kick out of his character and thought that I could detect some chemistry between him and Graciela.

I thought that Verónica Jaspeado was going to be in this but I haven't spotted her yet.

I was happy to see the Ex-mir Karim (CI) show up again so soon as JL's chum. I hope we see a lot of him... he is also one of my favorites.

I wonder why José Luís didn't use that cell phone to call Monserrat to tell her that he was running late because of a dead guy?

Carlos

Madelaine, thanks for your juicy recap. It is refreshing to see a galan with some smarts as a foundation for his good looks.

Gracie's footwear may have had those fluffy organza bows tied at the ankle. She does think she's the hottest thing in town, doesn't she?

Carlos: "thought that I could detect some chemistry between him and Graciela". Oooh, now I am REALLY sorry about his premature demise.

I was also starting to wonder about Verónica, but spied her name in the credits so she should be appearing (hopefully sooner rather than later).

Diana

Still catching up with this, but I have never seen Luis Gatica looking so hot, even though the character is so sleazy.. Adore the grey hair - wow!

Too bad it's over!

Audrey - yes, LG was hawt and muy sexy! That bad boy personna will do it every time!

Diana

Gosh yes. LOVE me a silver fox.

Good Morning Y'all! Thanks so much for your lovely, kind words.

Blue:

I'll be writing and just like Pop Up Video, in my case, Pop Up Radio happens and boom! It's in the recap : )

Anon 5:40:

Our LG is gone! I too agree about his morphing from one side of his character to the other. I too will miss him.

Julie R:

About the actor and his eyebrows, I commented on that very thing on LQNPA and another commenter responded that the actor liked his brows that way, au naturele.

Eli:

I liked your comment about Lottie disliking Dimmy. So true. I think she should have kneed him when he got up in her face like that. What a putz!

Diana:

I missed the ankle sock thingy, darn! I'll have to keep an eye out : )

Vivi:

I so agree with you about Bruno. His murder will set things in motion. LG is very versatile. This is the first time I've seen him as a bad guy.

Karen:

I too like this fast moving story. I thought it would drag, but it hasn't. Amazing!

Urban:

I liked your reference to "To The Manner Born" perfect! You'd think as much trouble as Gracie is in, she'd look beyond the birth thingy!

Doris:

It's so good to see you again. I'm glad you are joining us here. Your "Valley of the Dolls" made me snort. So true!

Urban:

Phyllis Diller, Priceless!

Cap'n:

Yes, Dimmy is quite dim. It's all about the moola with him. He thinks Ale is stupid. Wait till he finds out Ale is way smarter than him.

Neice:

I too thought it was funny when Gracie thought that Ale was sooo into her. Gracie thinks she is all that. She is so all not that ; )

SusanLynn:

So glad you are joining us on the Patio. Yes, SR is a smart one in this one. Can't wait to see what else Ale is gonna do.

JudyB:

I just love throwing these old sayings into my recaps. It livens it up some. It's the oral storytelling gene in me ; )

EMarie:

I have noticed the quality of the filming. It is gorgeously done. I love all the beach scenes especially. That sand is so sugary looking. The sand here at my local beach is well sandy colored ; )

Lila:

I too haven't seen the other two novelas this one is based on. This TN for me is new. I so agree with your assessment of Ale. He is smart as a whip. What the others don't realize is that he is that smart. Gracie still thinks she got one over on him. Can't wait to see when she finds out she didn't.

Fatima:

Thanks! I hope you join us here on the Patio. I like your point of view : )

JudyB:

Anytime amiga. I always enjoy a good ole fashioned chin wag ; )

EMarie:

I too think there is an anvil over Lauro. I didn't like that little attack he had. About the Dimmy character. He is kinda sorta like Miguel in LQNPA, but Miguel wasn't evil like Dimmy is. Dimmy doesn't seem to have any remorse at all for killing Bruno.

NovelaMaven:

Thanks so much. They do run on don't they? But it is the beginning, maybe later they will slow down.

Carlos:

I too am happy to see Carlos de la Motta here. He always gets such fun characters. He is always the fun loving bestie. One of my favorite characters he did was "Meester James" on DA ; )

La Paloma:

I will have to check out Gracie's shoes. It could have been the ankle strap with pom poms or huge bows. They are in fashion at the moment : )

Audrey:

It's so great to see you here. I'm with you about LG. He will be missed.

Now to my own thoughts about this epi.

I think Ale has good intentions towards Monse. He did say he never thought that the Mendozas would accept him, due to his origins and upbringing, but he thought he'd take a chance. He isn't wanting to force Monse to do anything she doesn't want to do. I think he wants to take things slow, as in Monse getting to know him and falling for him. They both felt that spark on the beach that night. I don't think Jose Luis is for her.

There is such a difference between Jose Luis and Ale. Ale is strong, knows what he wants, and talks to Lauro and Gracie. Jose Luis lacks what Ale has, the strong part, to me Jose Luis is a shrinking violet. Instead of facing Lauro, he wants to run away with Monse and marry her. Could you see Jose Luis facing Gracie. She'd make mincemeat out of him!

My favorite character so far besides Ale of course is Lottie. That women speaks her mind! I like her character. She isn't afraid to speak her mind to anyone. Good for her!

I too am liking Ale's character. So strong and smart. I like how he fired Bruno, that should be a warning to Juvie. Gracie still thinks she can pull one over on Ale, let's see how he handles that. Dimmy doesn't stand a chance. For some reason Gracie and Dimmy seem to think if one wasn't "To The Manor Born" as Urban said, they are missing a few tools in the shed. Can't wait until Ale proves them wrong.

Gracie and her "tainted blood" remark. Consider the source there. What a snobbish, viperish woman she is. And filthy peasant, really????? I would love for her to lose it all. She needs to be taken down a peg or two.

I too will miss "Bloody Bruno", Blue that was perfect! I too liked how he went from simpering to evil machinations in one scene. What will Juvie do without him? Will he heed Bruno's warning to him? He's another one that thinks Ale is stupid.

Mads, I'm pretty sure Gracie would jump that "filthy peasant's" bones in a heartbeat. Dontcha think? Both she and Dimmy seem to have a problem with forward thinking. It's all about the NOW with them.

Cap'n:

I was cracking up at your comment! Gracie sure did look like she wanted to jump his bones and wouldn't have had a problem at all. What I laughed about in this epi, was when Dimmy and Gracie were discussing, er, Dimmy was telling her the best thing would be to marry Monse off to Ale, he was doing the back and forth motion with his finger as in we're in the money. It's all for us, no one else. That had me laughing. They do live in the here and now. I hope the Admiral kicks Dimmy out on his butt!

I also wanted to mention that I saw Maria Zarattini's name in the credits on Friday. She wrote for both "Amor Real" and "Bodas de Odio" that this TN is based on. I looked her up and she is doing some writing for this one. Maybe that's why the story is moving the way it is and the pacing is good.

Things are slowly moving along. I was surprised that Bruno died so soon. Loved how he played both the suck up to Alejandro and the thug to everyone else. Never thought Dimmy would be courageous enough to pull the trigger...accident or not.

Also not really feeling Jose at this time. Its all te amo and lets run away and never any other real conversations. The most action I have seen him take was when he found Bruno dead. Hopefully there will be more to his character in the future.

CeCe:

Exactly how I feel about Jose Luis. There doesn't seem to be too much substance to him. I was expecting more from him. I want him to get some "avocadoes" and stand up to Lauro and especially Gracie. I don't like the way he is taking the chicken's way out. I too agree about him and the crime scene. Very smart there.

Mads: thanks for the detailed recap. I haven't seen this ep yet and am really looking forward to it.

For those of you that didn’t watch Amor Bravio, you missed a great one. But that’s not the point here. I started a Highpoints/Low Points list about half way through (I love lists). Since it looks like Robo might be just as interesting/good as AB, I decided to do a highpoints/low points list for it. I’m not sure how this is going to work starting a list from the beginning. It might be a little thin until the show really gets going.

Week of November 18, 2013:

Highpoints:
Good acting on the part of SR when he found out the patron was his father.
The meet cute between Alejandro and Montserrat.
Luis Gatica!!! (CME, AB).
Alejandro got the deed to the Mendoza hacienca from Bruno.
Low point for Montse, but high point for us—J-L is a bit of a wuss.
Ale is not going to back down re: Bruno and the factory.
Demetrio kills Bruno.
Ale fakes out Graciela re: his wanting to kiss her.
Lauro kicks Demetrio out.
Demetrio is busted.

Low Points:
Skeezy guy rubbing up on the housekeeper.
Graciela slapping her daughter.
Luis Gatica plays a bad guy ☹
That sorry excuse for a human—let alone man—Demetrio gives Bruno the deed to the hacienda.
Luis Gatica gone too soon.
I don’t know who’s worse, Graciela who doesn’t want Ale for her daughter because he isn’t good enough or Demetrios who wants him because of the money.

Nanette

Madeleine: To die for! Loved it. Three thumbs up--Er 2 plus a big toe, anyway.

Nanette:

Loved the hi/lo list. I have missed them. Keep up the lists please! They are so welcome here.

Jardinera:

Well, thanks amiga. I loved the two thumbs up and the toe! I am so borrowing that from you ; )
