Mentir Para Vivir #36 Tue 11/26/13 Either Man Up or Take Some Midol, Ricky!

Alternative Title:  Pretty Ricky has an Ugly Day

Clinica Psiquiatrica de Sta Cruz:  Sebastian is desperately trying to convince his mother to say that Ricky is the only man that violated her at the infamous birthday party.  Maria says that it’s not true!  Sebastian knows, but tells her that Ricky is a very bad man.  He wants her to say that she had sex with Ricardo and no one else; she reluctantly agrees.  She makes him promise that he will get her out of there and he does.  She rubs her face against his hand.  Berniece watches the scene from across the lawn.

Trejo Bonfil Textiles/Hospital Lobby:  Oriana calls Jose Luis from the hospital.  She’s reschedules their meeting for the following day because Paloma has not been discharged yet.    After they hang up, Ruben approaches Oriana and tells her that Paloma ready to be discharged.  Oriana is concerned that Matilde will tell Paloma about the article.  Ruben says that he will kill Matilde if she does.

The old owner of Trejo Bonfil Textiles returns his liquor to the desk drawer and stands to greet Francisco Castro.  He explains his sad history to the imposter.  His wife is ill.  Two of his children died in a crash and he ran out of money as Aresti Breton business flourished.  Francisco explains that he is part of a global investment company that made a few bad decisions; they are looking for something safe, something that will grow.  They have decided to do him a favor and sink dirty money in this company.  The man is thrilled.  He doesn’t want to see a one hundred year family enterprise go out of business.

Aresti Mansion:  Ruben, Inez, Matilde and the half of the hospital staff have escorted Paloma home.  Her yearly donations to the hospital must be amazing!  In the courtyard, the servants kiss her a$$ and pretend to be thrilled that she is back.  Matilde wants her to get inside quickly, but Paloma is enjoying the attention.  Ruben immediately runs into the house and shoves his clothes in a suitcase.  Matilde comes in after him and demands to know where he was last night.  He tells her that he’s leaving her.  He can’t take her wonderful personality anymore.  Matilde removes his clothing as quickly as he packs.  When he tells her that he’s moving to the Casa Bonita, she pounds on him.  She tells him to think about Fabiola.  How she will take it?  He says that Fabiola will know why he left and says that he will see his daughter around.

Meanwhile in Paloma’s room, Paloma wants to meet Franciso.  She wants to get all up into Ines’ business and threaten him.  Divorce Inez or we will expose you.  Inez tells her that he left town. Oriana explains that Jose Luis wants Rhodalina.  Paloma says over her dead body.   Paloma says that he will be back for his family.  Hopefully, someone will tell her the truth soon, so she will be able to give sound advice when she’s butting in to other people’s business.

Aresti Breton Meeting Room:  Ricky, Mariano and Piero are meeting with a hot defense lawyer with dreamy hazel eyes (hopefully, there will be a reason for him to take off his shirt in this scene).  The lawyer believes that Ricky would have been charged by now if there were evidence against him.  With Maria’s story and Sebastian’s DNA, they have nothing to worry about.  Ricky and Piero don’t look so sure about that.  Suddenly Sebastian runs into the room and sucker punches Pretty Ricky in the jaw.  He thinks that Ricky is the one who leaked the story to the newspaper.  He believes that Ricky did it so that he won’t inherit his share of “their mother’s” fortune.  Ricky assures him that the papers have been signed.  The money is his.  Anyways, the hot defense lawyer with hazel eyes, who still has his shirt on, tells Sebastian that he can be charged with assault.  Sebastian tells him mind his own business!  Sebastian doesn’t want the name Perez.  He doesn’t want Ricky to take away his surname and make him a nobody.  Later, the secretary applies some ice to Ricky’s face.  The accountant brings in some paperwork and asks if Ricky needs anything else.  Ricky puts the paper work in the drawer, but not before he announces loudly that Oriana’s gun and Berto’s gun are also in there.  Piero tells Ricky that he should take the guns out of his drawer and put them some place more secure.  Ricky agrees.  He loudly announces that he will remove the guns from his desk and take them to his aunt’s house.  He will put them with her jewelry.  Piero and Ricky leave the room and probably leave the door unlocked so the thief can easily steal the guns.  They will get a DNA test.  Ricky wants to go see Oriana.

Mariano and Sebastian go out for coffee.  Mariano asks Sebastian how he will feel if he finds out that Ricky was innocent and did not rape Maria.  Sebastian stalks off, but not before telling the priest to pick up the tab.  He can afford it from all the donations that he gets.

Aresti Mansion:  Ricky runs over to Oriana so that she can kiss his boo boo.  He lies and tells her that he ran into a door, but she’s not buying it.  He admits that Sebastian sucker punched him.  He didn’t hit him back because he’s a lover not a fighter.  Later, Ricky reveals that Jose and Luis leaked the story to the papers.  She wonders how they found out.  He doesn’t know, but Ruben overheard them.  Ricky tells Paloma that Sebastian probably, most likely ain’t his.  Maria had other lovers.  Paloma butts in again and wants to know when Inez will divorce Francisco and marry Ricky.  They could get hitched in Mexico and Las Vegas.  Ricky is shocked and horrified when Oriana tells Paloma that she and Ricky have broken up.  They’ve only been pretending to be happy in front of her because she’s sick.  She’s going back to Jose Luis.  He runs out of the room and stalks her out in the courtyard.  After Ricky leaves, Paloma wants to know if Oriana still loves Ricky.  As soon as Oriana comes outside, Ricky grabs her and accuses her of positioning herself as Paloma’s granddaughter so that she can inherit the money when Paloma dies.  Oriana slaps him.

After checking Paloma’s vital signs, the nurse calls the doctor.

Random Outdoor Café:  Jose Luis and Antonio are having lunch.  Antonio admits that he boinked Maria, but he is not impressed with Sebastian as his potential son.  Antonio tells Jose Luis that he quit because Ricky also wants him to get a DNA test.  Jose Luis tells Antonio to visit Trejo Bonfil in the morning.

Aresti Breton:  Ricky returns to work and is met by Piero. After entering Ricky’s office, Ricky tells Piero that Oriana is returning to Jose Luis.  She dumped him in front of his aunt.  She used him for the sex last night.  He feels dirty.  She doesn’t love him.  He is such a girl.

Aresti Mansion:  Oriana calls Jose Luis and tells him that she is ready to meet with him.  On the way out, she sees the doctor coming in.  She follows the doctor and Matilde to Paloma’s room.  The doctor gives Paloma a sedative and hopefully we’ll be seeing less of her now that she will be sleeping.  …Matilde screams at Oriana in the living room, she too believes that Inez hopes that Paloma dies so she will inherit everything.

Outdoor Cafe:  Oriana meets with drunk Jose Luis at the Outdoor Café.  She wants to limit his visitation to twice a year.  Jose Luis says that he wants his wife and his child to live with him.  If he wants a child so bad, he should have a child with Raquel, she says. He accuses her of being jealous.  She repeats that she feels nothing for him and doesn’t want to reconcile.  He blames Ricky and threatens to kill him.  She reminds him that he will go to jail for life if Ricky is killed; you too he says.  When she stands to leave, he yells, that they are not finished.  She returns and sits back down.  She tells him that she is not moving out of Paloma’s house and that she and Ricky broke up.  He again threatens her with her child.  She tells him that she will go to jail and arrange for a nice family to get Rhodalina.  She reveals that she knows all about his offer to put money in the Casa Bonita.  She refuses the money because she is part owner.

At the church, Ricky is having a hissy fit...more like a bitch fit.  He’s acting like a chick and frankly he needs to Man Up or take some Midol.  His woman left him.  They haven’t made love since last night and he’s got the shakes.  She used him for sex!  He’s never been used for his body before.  He wants her back!  Mariano defends Oriana.  Finally!  Ricky confronts the priest and tells him that he knows that he has ungodly thoughts about Oriana.  Mariano tries to deny it.  Ricky will not budge!  He asks Mariano if he would boink Oriana if he wasn’t a priest.  I didn’t hear what the final answer was. .

Doll Hovel:  The reporters are at Benigno’s home interviewing him about the rape.  He doesn’t look comfortable about cutting off his gravy train, but continues to lie.  He says that he saw Ricky boinking his daughter.  He looks very uncomfortable when he asked if the sex was consensual.  He repeats the word.  Maybe he doesn’t know what the word means.    Across town, Raquel tells Lucina that Ruben grew some avocados and left his wife.  Raquel then shows Lucina the scandalous newspaper article.  Right then, Oriana shows up crying because she had to break up with Ricky.  She doesn’t want to hurt Paloma.  Lucina says that it’s time to tell Paloma the truth.  Oriana agrees and says that she’ll do it when Paloma gets better.  Later, after Oriana leaves, Raquel tells Lucina that she will convince Jose Luis move to another country and take Rhodalina with them.

Aresti Mansion:  Orina sits in her room and remembers the great times with Ricky.  Rhodalina comes in and interrupts her thoughts.  She wants to go see Paloma, but Matilde won’t let her in the room.  Oriana takes Rhodalina to Paloma where she climbs on the bed and appears to kiss her neck. Nice try, Rhoda Penmark! We all know that you are actually checking for a pulse!  Rhodalina’s no dummy!  If Paloma’s dead, she and her mother inherit it all.  Dammit!  Her plans are thwarted once again!  Paloma awakens.  Rhodalina quickly composes herself and puts on her cute act.  Paloma wants to know why she didn’t come see her sooner.  Rhodalina says that Matilde blocked all of her efforts.  Paloma tells her that she can come any time she wants.  Rhodalina busts her mother out and tells Paloma that Oriana has been crying every day.

As Ricky pulls into his driveway, he is met by a mob of aggressive reporters.

Great snark, Cynderella. :)

I understand Ricky's frustration and anger over being dumped out of the blue like that, in front of Paloma. But it was really low of him to then lash out by accusing Ori of being after Paloma's money. He's smart enough to realize she broke up with him abruptly like that because Paloma was pushing the whole divorce and marriage thing, which is not possible in Ori's current situation. Ori shouldn't have blindsighted him, I'm glad she slapped him.

By the way, they really need to stop having these arguments out in the open. Mati was above them on the catwalk, but I don't think she heard all the Oriana/false Inez talk.

I wondered if Padre Plaid wasn't planning on grabbing that beer glass Sebas took a sip out of, to help with the DNA testing.

I can't believe that Raqui is going to go along with JL kidnapping Lina and trying to take her away.

I chuckled when the owner of JL's new mark was shown tucking his liqour bottle away in his desk before JL was ushered in. This is going to be like stealing candy from a baby.

Forgot a word: Ori shouldn't have blindsighted him, BUT I'm glad she slapped him.

Great recap Cynderella. Thanks.
Wow! you really do not care for Ric. Came through loud and clear. He is just a man in love and like Vivi said, blind sighted. Oriana hit him in the gut and he reacted. Who can blame him. I guess if they hadn't made love the night before, he would have picked up on her motive. Racq's desperation is such a turn off. Is she willing to throw her friend under the bus for the likes of JL? Her jealousy is revolting. Way to go Ruben! Escape from Alcatraz. Why was Madhilde trying to stop him? According to her, he is good for nothing.

Hilarious, Cynderella. I so enjoy your recaps and your wicked humor.

I already do not care all that much for Ricky, but he really rubbed me the wrong way in his confrontation with Mariano. He felt obligated to tell him that he just had sex with Oriana and then challenge him about having lustful thoughts about Oriana? The man's his best friend and a priest besides for goodness sakes. Grow up.

Carlos

I enjoyed all of your lines Cynda. :)
Mucho gusto and so many happenings in this show again, I love it.

I have mixed feelings with the scene of Maria and Seba. I think because of Maria and her reaction. The girl had a very sad destiny. Perhaps I liked this scene part, because we, viewers, know that they are mother and child, but she doesn't.

Ruben's moving out from Aresti mansion would be good, but I felt that I'm sitting in a theatre, it was so theatrical for me. It seemed so artificial and staged. It was a serious moment, but it had funny elements that Maddy generated for me.

Seba has gone too far with Ricky's hit. I sometimes wonder on his aggressiveness.
And after Ricky's sentece to Oriana: no soy un tipo aggressivo :D :D I don't think so every moment, because we could see some heated moment from him. Oh, yes, like today in the courtyard. But today and I understand better than earlier. After Seba's slap, Ori with her senteces cuased slaps, that was worse than his "son" gave him. And he got another real slap (it was justifiable) from Ori because of his accusations.

What I liked the best: Ricky confronted his amigo priest with his ungodly feelings.
And Ori's behaviour with his husband in the restaurant, finally she didn't cry, she was smart, brave, mature and very credible, didn't afraid of JL.

How can Raquel think that JL and she can take Alina far away to live in happiness? It was irresponsible and immature answer to Lucina. She is totally opposite of Oriana. Why does she think that she means a lot to JL after a night?

I don't like Antonio's wardrobe. He always wears colourful, spotted, striped shirts, trousers and suits.

Alejo- I also liked that Ori didn't shed any tears in front of JL, and was firm with him. I got a kick out of when she challenged him to make a scene in front of all the restuarant patrons, and he backed down. I like when she shows she's a fighter.

Cynderella - Terrific recap. My favorite:

"half of the hospital staff have escorted Paloma home. Her yearly donations to the hospital must be amazing! In the courtyard, the servants kiss her a$$ and pretend to be thrilled that she is back."

Add me to the group that thinks Paloma is being a buttinski. She had no right to put Oriana on the spot in front of Ricky.

I too felt like Ricky was taking it out on Padre Plaid. So what, the Padre has a right to his secret fantasies. He has no intention of doing anything about it. Ricky was just rubbing salt in the wound. So far their relationship has been very one-sided, with the Padre always helping him.

Antonio was amusing describing what a rotten kid Sebas is. As if he would've been willing to take the DNA test if the kid had exemplary qualities. Yeah, right.

ITA Oriana was great with JL in the restaurant. Now why all of a sudden is he getting drunk. He should go back to the finger flaming cause that seemed to keep him calm.

Thanks for your recap Cynderella. Ricky did have a bad day. And Seba needs to stop being a jerk.

Raquel's foolishness will make things end very badly for her (my guess). Clearly she doesn't understand that JL would dismiss her a NY minute.

Yes Paloma is butting in; unfortunately she thinks she's helping Oriana b/c Pal believes JL is just like Pal's horrid hubby.

Great recap Cyn..., thanks. I love your sense of humor about Paloma. As far as trying to figure out who is more right or less wrong in the on again off again relationship of Ricky and Oriana/Ines, I call it a draw. I think they deserve each other. Neither one has me sitting on the edge of my seat when an anvil is threatening to fall. In fact, I kinda like when JL comes on the scene and stirs things up a bit.

Muchas gracias, Cynderella. I hope you get some quality screentime with your lawyer buddy in future eps.

I also thought that Padre Plaid talked Sebas into going for drinks with him so that he could take the glass for a DNA test.

I don't understand why Sebas thinks he will lose his name/family connections if the truth comes out. Ricky's parents adopted him, and he was registered as their son and with their family name. Doesn't that make it official and permanent regardless of DNA? I don't think Ricky would have any say in the matter even if he wanted to get rid of Sebastian.

I am liking Raquel less and less. Going after a creep like JL is bad enough, but would she really help him take Oriana's daughter away from her? That is way too far down the slippery slope.

Ricardo was juvenile and stupid picking that fight with Oriana. Since they had not in fact broken up, he should have figured out that she was just saying that to stall Paloma's plans.

However, Orinez was also juvenile. She should have just said, "butt out, Granny; I'll get divorced and/or remarried on my own schedule" instead of making up an excuse.

Happy Thanksgiving Caraymates!

Alejo, Adriana, and other overseas Caraymates, tomorrow is the most celebrated holiday in the U.S. so most of us will be with family + friends, cooking, eating, and being merry in general. Although Uni is showing all the shows tomorrow (Telemundo is not), most of us likely won't get to watch or comment on a recap right away.

Enjoy the day everyone!

Thanks the information Vivi. It's true I suspected it is soon, only in the exact date I wasn't sure. Once we read a text in English lesson about the Thanksgiving, so I know a bit about it. One typical food is turkey, you remembered and giving thanks the founding Fathers.
Happy Holiday Every American Caraymates! :)

Around the weekend (perhaps Friday - Tuesday)I wasn't near net connection too, because I am travelling home in my small small Smallville from the "Big" city.

Not only Thanksgiving but Chanukah /Hanukkah, so it's called Thanksgivinkkah, spell ck didn't have that one. Won't happen again for 75,000 years. Turkey & latkes sound good to me.

Happy everything to everyone.

Safe travels to your hometown, Alejo. Enjoy your time at home!

Yes, the turkey is usually the centerpiece dish, and all the other dishes vary from family to family-- based on your immigrant culture, individual family culture, and the region of the country you live in.

They just showed a menurkey (a turkey shaped menorah) on the news. Apparently it's a hot item this year, but considering that the two events won't coincide for 75,000 years, I'm not sure what a wise investment it is. :)

Oh dear Cynderella! I SO love your off the wall humor!!!

In my view, both Ricky and Orines were like children last night. They both need to sit down and take a deep breath.

Raquel just keeps going lower and lower. Pretty soon, she will find herself in a pit (of her own making). How delusional to think that JL will want to be with HER and Rhodalina?!

AlejoP, save travels home!!

I'm just glad that Uni will be showing the TNs tonight and tomorrow. It is must see TV!!!

Fatima

Gracias for the recap, Cynderella. Maybe we'll get lucky and Marilu will spill coffee on the hot lawyer soon :D
