Mentir Para Vivir #23 Wed 11/6/13 That's no forro - that's my wife!

MPV Wednesday 11-6-13  That's no forro - that's my wife!

Celio tells Ricky the only thing missing fjrom El Bungalo is Ricky's graduation photo album.  Ricky instructs Elio that under no circumstances is Seba allowed entry on the premises

Gimnacio Sagrado
Mariano of the Plaid Priesthood is intrigued with Seba's attitude w/Maria; and now this issue with the photos and the "secret".  He reminds Ricky that Maria often imagines things and she may have made up the whole thing about the "secret". He asks Ricky if Maria might have been promiscuous in her youth and if she was a virgin when.......Ricky gets frustrated and repeats, again, that he doesn't remember anything about that fateful night.  Mariano miraculously puts two and two together (he is a priest, after all)--maybe Seba is someone else's son!  And maybe that's the "secret" he and Maria share!   Must be the Power of the Plaid Priesthood!

Casa de Paloma
Cesar returns to speak with Paloma -- she reminds him this is her house so if he wants to return, he's welcome.  She's heard of his plans and asks if he's really sure this is what he truly wants.

Seba's Depa
Guau! Dude has a maid!  Ricky pays his son a visit.  Sebas is less than cordial, as usual.  He just wants to know if Ricky's come with news of his mother's trust fund.  Ricky explains the paperwork is in the works. Now, about that photo album.  Seba just explains “La Loca” wanted to see pictures.  Ricky notes that Seba speaks of her so contemptuously (despectivamente).  This doesn't jive with his eagerness (afán) to please her, the gifts, and his insistance on having her live at the house.  “What? So I suddenly felt filial love!” responds Seba. Ricky is understandably skeptical and asks “What's wrong, hijo?” Whoop! Big mistake.  Seba takes umbrage at being called “hijo” by Ricky.  “There can be nothing between us, only resentment.”  He accuses Ricky of robbing him of their father's and mother's love.  Ricky always treated him like a dog! “You just wanted me to be a monigote (rag doll) just like you!  A man who graduated with excellent qualifications -- work, then home, then back to work again!”  Ricky tries to defend himself saying everyone has their own personality and possibly he made a mistake where Seba is concerned.  Seba vehemently agrees to this last statement. Seba:  “I'm not one of those classic little executives who wears the suit and tie, shiny shoes and never misses a day of work.  Ricky wonders what SabeNada wants to do with his life.  None of your beeswax is the reply.  Ricky goes back to asking about Seba's attitude toward Maria. Seba insulted her when he learned she was his mother and now suddenly he visits with her and spoils her.  Ad what's with the "secret".  Seba: "She's plum loca and doesn't know what she's talking about.  Now get out of here, you're not welcome in my home."  Ricky: “Well, in that case, you're no longer welcome in my house!  And return my photo album!" Yeah, that's telling him Big Poppa!  Seba is furious. Speaking to himself after Ricky leaves, he figures Ricky only wants to know things in order to take away what is rightfully his!

El Buen Vivir Restaurante
Oriana and Berto share a meal. He asks why she and Ricky split up (note to wardrobe:  lining on Berto's jacket is hideous -- it isn’t fully lined and you can see it when the camera's behind him --it's not supposed to look this way, right?  Looks cheap)  Anyway,  she tells him the split was due to all her problems and she doesn't want to burden Ricky with them.  He probes for more deets but she's not telling.  He asks about Lina.  He toasts to an advantageous (provechosa) friendship.  He confesses he's been fascinated with her from the moment he first saw her.  She makes it very clear that she's not interested in starting a new relationship just now.  That's ok, cuz he's a patient guy.  He knows how to wait.  Ruh-roh, Jose Luis is at the bar with his minion! He sees Oriana. Eliseo calls her a forro (cover) then backtracks to say she's pretty when   Jose Luis informs him that's his wife!  JL instructs him to check out the guy.

Arista Breton
Ricky arrives at the office looking for Ines -- he's told by Marilu they don't know where she is.  Marilu shares with the other receptionist, Paulina, that he's in another bad mood,.  Marilu doesn't understand why, they've split up.  Paulina sets her straight -- "Donde hubo fuego, cenizas quedan"  (smoldering ashes where once there was fire)

El Buen Vivir Restaurante
Berto shares he hasn't married cuz he hasn't found the right woman.  There has to be chemistry.  He doesn't want a woman who'll settle for being home with the kids, although it's important the children are taken care of.  She must be dynamic, productive. Oriana humors him but says men will always be demanding.  "Tell me then, is your sister an entrepreneur (emprendedora)?"  "Oof, my sister?  Jaja, don't make me laugh.  She's lazy!  She's only interested in designer clothing, dining out, and going out!"  Oriana asks if she ever cheated on her husband, to which he replies “She's lazy - not stupid.  She knew if Gabriel ever found about an indiscretion, he would have left her with nothing.  As it turns out, Gabriel didn't leave a will.  Lila ended up having to share everything with Gabriel’s sons.  Oriana now asks if he thinks "Oriana" may have killed Gabriel, as Lucina has told her.  He has no idea and now he changes the subject and tries flirting again telling her what beautiful eyes she has.  She tries to keep him on subject, saying "Oriana" had just met Gabriel and therefore wouldn't have a motive for killing him.  She finds out he knows all about "Oriana" -- that she was blamed for her husband's crimes in Colombia. She asks him who he thinks may have killed Gabriel, his sis perhaps?  Nah - sis wouldn't hurt an ant.  He wonders why she's so curious about Oriana and points out: “Isn’t it quite a coincidence that Oriana has a child the same age as Lina?

In the background, Jose Luis instructs Eliseo to follow Berto when they leave and report back later.  He slams down the payment for his drink and walks away.  This draws Oriana's attention but she only sees his back as he leaves.  She keeps staring as Berto blathers on, clueless, about futbol.

Arista Breton
Ricky is sure Oriana’s out with that desgraciado and wonders why she's so naive. Piero arrives with an attorney, Julio Manriquez, who specializes in international law.   Ricky wants him to check on a case in Colombia.

Ricky explains his only interest in Oriana's case has to do with finding out who killed his father.  Julio asks for Oriana's passport- Ricky says he doesn’t ghave a copy.  Julio needs some official document to compare (cotejar) her signature with that in the Colombian bank. Piero and Ricky tell him there must be signatures on her mortgage as well as with the Mexican Embassy.  Ricky denies knowing her but still asks Julio for his discretion while he's investigating.  Julio assures him they have attorney/client privilege.  He also tells Ricky that the authorities in other countries may be reluctant (reacio) in sharing information with an attorney from another country on an open case.  He warns him this could take some time.

Casa Breton
ruh-roh -- SabeNada arrives in his flashy car to see Mommy Dearest but his way is blocked by one of the employees. Guy's got guts - he's puts himself in front of the car and refuses to move (must be paid well).  Seba is pithed but all his arrogant insults don't work on this guy and he makes to leave but Maria calls out to him from behind a barred archway.  Seba continues with the insults and manages to talk without being overheard.  He warns her she'd better shut her mouth about their little "secret".  He rushes off, leaving Maria in tears.  Berniece--caretaker and servant didn't hear what he told her.

Casa de Paloma
Oriana gives Lucina a breakdown of her meeting with Berto.  He seemed to take it well that she isn't interested in a relationship at the moment.  Lucina tells her to calm down but Oriana tells her that what has her so nervous is that she's sure she saw Jose Luis at the restaurant.  Lucina doesn't want to believe it and blames herself and her active imagination.  She tells Oriana to forget about what she told her earlier

Gimnasio Sagrado
Mariano breaks the news to Cesar that the Bishop hasn't signed off on him going into the seminary, but agreed to think about it.  Seminarians are normally much younger, but he did agree to think about it.  Cesar tells him Mums isn't keen on the idea and kicked him out.  He's staying at Lucina's hotel but wants to leave ASAP.  Even though he plans to pay for each night he stays there, he's not comfortable with the arrangement.  Raquel doesn't even know he's staying there.  He just doesn’t want any problems.  Mariano suggests he be patient, it may only be for a few days, after all.

Minion Reports
Eliseo reports to Jose Luis on Berto and Oriana.  Berto was seen arriving at Aresti Breton.  Oriana was followed to a residence on Magnolia street. He tried to get info on the tenants but the doorman refused to give him any info.  He gives JL the address. Room service arrives and JL grills the waiter about Aresti Breton and its owners. The family is well known in Hermosillo.  The waiter is able to tell him about Ricky, Paloma, and where they live.  JL asks if there's a young woman living with Paloma.  Waiter heard tell the long lost granddaughter, Ines, reappeared and is now living with Paloma along with her daughter.

Casa Bonita
Lucina and Raquel continue to make plans for the Grand Opening, making up the guest list.  Lucina mentions Ruben and Cesar, but MadHilde will not be invited.  Cesar's invited cuz….well, he's living here now.  Whaaaat?  Raquel is agog at the news.  Lucina tells her to be cool check cuz she's gonna keep her eyes on her.  She also plans to invite Berto cuz he'll also be a guest at the hotel.  BTW, Oriana can’t bring herself to have anything to do with him.  Lucina continues working on her list -- They have to invite “Pezudo” - he's staying in the large suite.  Raquel immediately asks if he's handsome.  Lucina has no idea; she only spoke with him over the phone.

Casa de Paloma
Eliseo delivers a huge bouquet.  Ricky arrives just as he's delivering them but  slinks off so he isn't seen.  The guy accepting the delivery sneaks a peak at the card.  "No te he olvidado" (I haven't forgotten you) is all it says.  UY!

Oriana tells Paloma she hasn't heard from the blackmailer again.  Paloma's surprised, saying they usually want money right away.  Ricky interrupts their visit and they continue to discuss the blackmailer. Oriana is sure is isn't  Raquel or Lucina and Paloma is sure it isn't Santos.  Ricky is certain they'll hear from them soon -- they never stay away for long.  Oriana tells Paloma she doesn't care if they disclose her past.  Paloma does care though.  Ines is her granddaughter and she doesn't want anyone to harm her.  She doesn't care so much about herself, but they'd better not dare talk bad about her granddaughter!!

Minion Reports
Eliseo reports back to JL that he wasn't able to deliver the flowers personally and just as he was handing over the flowers, this quate (dude) shows up.  Handsome, well dressed quate.  The doorman addressed him as ingeniero.  He walked right in, just as though he were at home.  JL next instructs him to go to Ricky's 'hood and get the 411 on him.  Eliseo balks at all the work and this makes JL angry.  If he, JL, hadn't told Eliseo how to escape, they would have ended up chamuscados (scorched) like the rest.  Apparently, Eliseo, has heard this before.  He's just tired of living in a miserable pension while JL is living it up here.  JL promises to see what he can do to make him happy.

Casa de Paloma
Oriana regrets having told Paloma anything about the blackmail.  Ricky reminds her the truth has a way of coming out.  Now he starts grilling her:  He wants to know why she met with Berto after he told her not to.  She erupts at him trying to tell her what to do.  Besides, she made it very clear to Berto there would be nothing between them.  "Oh yeah?  Well then why did he send you those flowers!"  It is only now that she gets the card.  He continues to shout at her, demanding that she look at the card.  She does and tries to say it's nothing interested.  He's not buying that.  "Nothing interesting? Then explain why you've suddenly gone pale?  is he threatening you  again, or is he proposing something else?"  He's shouting at her now.  She shouts back at him.  She doesn’t want him butting into her life.  She's done with him.  In fact, she's done with everyone!  She leaves him dazed and angry.  He next grills the doorman about the florist.  Poor guy doesn't have any info.  The order was a handwritten note with only the date and address written on it.  He didn't even notice where the taxi was from.  Ricky stalks off.

Madhilde and Ruben discuss Cesar.  She hasn't reconsidered letting him come home.  She insists Cesar should be the one to apologize and ask her to come home.  Ain't gonna happen, says Ruben.  She wonders why not, after all she's done.  Doesn't she deserve some consideration?  It seems as though Cesar only wants to make her suffer.  He hates her!  Ruben assures her Cesar does not hate her. He's doing this because it's his calling, she must understand this.  She refuses to believe this.  Cesar knew her dream was for him to have some type of managerial position at the business.  But nooooooo, he only managed to become a mediocre accountant.  Ruben feels Cesar did his best.  MadHilde continues to think he only did it to annoy (fastidiar) her and do away with his mother' dream.  Has he any idea that her dreams of him being an important executive are over?  Or marry a good woman, of good breeding, not to mention children.  He'll never give her grandchildren.  Ruben suggests she accept it as he has.  Now she turns her viper's tongue on him!  "It's so easy for you.  You’ve resigned yourself your whole life. You've never fought for anything because you've never had the guts to do it! You’re mediocre, just like your son!  The two of you together aren't worth anything."  Ruben finally speaks, telling her not to speak to him this way.  "And why not?  That's what I think of you. The truth may not hit, but it is painful."  Ruben tells her he's glad Cesar didn't turn out to be in her image.  If he had, he would have been a despicable man! (Yay, Ruben!) He leaves butMahilde isn't done.  After he leaves, she whispers to herself, "like you! (meaning Ruben is a despicable man)."

Bungalo Azul
He tries to call Oriana butonly reaches her voice mail.  He sends her a text message (that we aren't privy to).  She immediately calls him back, saying he must not to what he's just texted about.  He reminds her they agreed to hand over the gun to Lopez.  He's planning to travel to San Carlos tomorrow.  She's really angry and repeats he must not do this.  "But amor," he says, "we'd agreed."  "I'm not your amor. And even though we had agreed I don’t want to now!  NO QUIERO! Now leave me alone!"  She hangs up on him.

Casa de Paloma
Lulcina comes to Oriana's room just as she's hung up on Ricky.  Oriana tells her she knows JL is alive and is somewhere here in Hermosillo.

Paloma's Dining Room
The Help is complaining about all the work they have to do.  Doorman complains Jorge is so busy driving everyone around, he's not here to relieve anyone.  He tells the head housekeeper he has some juicy gossip about Ines.  She has a secret lover and he peeked at the card on the flowers she received.  "I haven't forgotten you." it said like the guy is still stuck (clavado)on her but there was no signature.  He assumes Ines must know who it is.  Housekeeper thought Ines was dating El Ingeniero.  Well, there you have it, he says.  Now she has someone else.  She defends "Ines", saying she's a decent woman and wonders if possibly the flowers were meant for, let's say, Raquel (who we all know may not be considered decent in Hermosillo).  Doorman tells her the delivery guy specifically said the flowers were for Ines.

Up in her room, Oriana shows Lucina the card.  Lucina tries to say maybe the flowers are from another secret admirer but Oriana knows better.  Jose Luis knows she's here. He knows her name, her address.  Lucia reminds her he also has a lot to lose (el tambien tiene cola que le pisen= he also has a tail that can be stepped on) Oriana is frantic -- he's her husband and Lina's father!  She has too many problems; she doesn’t need another one, much less this one.  What if he's the one who sent the anonimo?  If he found her here, he surely could have found out about Gabriel and the Murder by the Seaside.  Maybe he went and spoke with Manolo in San Carlos.  Lucina:  what, do you think Manolo's an idiot? well...maybe but he's not going to be telling just any Johnnie Come Lately about what went down.  Oriana seems to rethink it.  Ok, so maybe JL’s not the anonimo but the  fact remains that JL is here!!!  What if he wants to take Alina?  Oriana's just as much a fugitive from justice as he is.  Lucina tries to calm her down:  Don't worry you have me.  You have Paloma and Ricardo.  She urges Oriana to tell Ricky about JL.  He loves and adores her.  Plus, he’s an intelligent man!  He could be a big help.  If Oriana doesn't tell him, she will.

Calle Pendulo aka Casa Breton
Eliseo finds out from a tamalero that Ricky lives at 6 Pendulo.  He sees Ricky leaving the house.

Casa de Paloma
JL is keeping watch and spies Oriana (in a much too tight, much too short number for a mother IMHO) and follows as she leaving to take Lina to school. He then follows her as she arrives at work.

Aresti Bretoni
Ricky instructs Paulina to call all the taxi companies to find out which one delivered flowers to Paloma's house but doesn't want Marilu to know about it.  He finds out Ines still isn’t in but Berto is.

He accosts Berto outside.  “How dare you invite my novia out to eat and then send her flowers!!” Berto was under the impression they'd broke up - at least that's what the gossip is.  Besides, she accepted his invitation.  As for the flowers, he has no idea what Ricky's talking aobut.  Again, Rickey grabs him by the collar -- but Berto insists he didn't send the flowers. Ricky accuses him of going after her for her money. Berto throws the same accusation back at Ricky. It's well known that Ricky had been after Paloma to sell him her shares but she never agreed and now he has the opportunity with the granddaughter.  Ricky:  You’re wrong -- you’re the one after her money!  Berto: Every man for himself but let's make one thing perfectly clear.  I'm not your employee, I'm a partner in this business.  See ya!

Berto now gets on the phone with his sis complaining about living in a pigsty, driving  cheap car while she's living it up with her mani-pedis, outings with her friends, etc. Acutally, she's having a massage while on the phone with him.  HA!  He demands more money.  She refuses to pay up.  He reminds her that he knows her little "secret"! She hangs up on him.

Paulina reports no taxi company reported having delivered flowers to Paloma’s house.  Maybe it was an independent cab.  He asks about Ines and is told she did arrive but left almost immediately, taking some folders and paperwork with her.  But she doesn't know where she is.  He asks her to check with the guard at the front door to see if they saw her leave.  Paulina runs off to her tasks.  He now calls Jorge to see if he picked up Ines.  He get crazy eyes when he learns Jorge didn’t pick her up and didn't arrange to pick her up elsewhere.  More bad news for our crazed hero. Pauline reports that the guard at the front door reports Ines left in a taxi but wasn’t able to hear where she was going.

Minion Reports
Eliseo verifies that Ricky is the same guy he saw last night when he delivered the flowers.  JL instructs him to go ahead and get himself at a better hotel room and he can rent a car, but a cheap one.  He doesn't want him drawing any attention.

Casa de Paloma
Oriana is home.  She tells Paloma she bought a laptop so she can work from home.

Ricky arrives next and speaks with Paloma.  He learns Oriana plans to work from home.  He tells her about his jealous rage and the altercation with Berto over the flowers.  He's sure Berto’s not the one who sent the flowers, but then who?  Is it possible she has another lover?  Paloma refuses to believe that.  Ricky now wonders if Ines isn't the person he thought her to be.  He knows something is wrong.

Up in her room, Oriana checks her e-mail.  She’s received a message from the blackmailer who is demanding the 5 mil by tomorrow, and she must come alone.

Avances

Raquel and JL meet.  I swear he actually licks his lips!  Guau

Oriana tells Ricky JL is alive and well.

Sorry gang. I got carried away and hence a bit long winded. Sorry for the huge recap tonight.

Ricky gets a little crazed and very controlling in tonight's episode. He may feel he's losing control of his woman. He wants so much to protect her that he's not allowing her to have a say. It's no wonder she hesitates to tell him stuff. And what about those crazy eyes! Calmate senor!

Madhilde has lost control over one of her brood -- and she's not liking it one bit. How can Cesar do this to her! It's all about Mommy -- what she wants for their lives whether they like it or not.

Thank you for the recap, Paquita.
Haven't gotten around to reading it all, yet, but I had to come to tell you that "Padre of the Plaid Priesthood" made me spill tea all over my keyboard.

New rule: when reading a recap made by one of the Caray mates, be sure not to have anything from the family of liquids around (this should not be mistaken with the rule that clearly states that one should always have their beverage of choice handy, in case a truly bad tn requires it, or if it's after 5 or if you just feel like it); also, biscuits and other solid food, could turn into a choking hasard, I remember how once I laughed so hard at a particular line over with the Corazon Indomable peeps, that I almost chocked on a piece of Oreo. Nobody knows Heimlich around here!

Me no likey Ricardo. He has no right to stop Sebastian from seeing his mother. He has no business roughing up people to find out who sent flowers to Phoniana. And Phoniana...ay ay ay. What a... perra. Not fans of either of them. Pobrecita Matilda. At least she's not two-faced. She says what she means and she means what she says. After this episode I have a lot more sympathy for Sebastian in the way he reacts to that control-freak Ricardo, who's never been honest with him.

When the truth comes out, I look forward to seeing Phoniana, the hotelier w/ the globos and the blonde bimbo perp walked to prison for fraud.

Tks Paquita

Anyone know who the actor is that plays the lawyer Ricardo hired? Can't remember where I saw him.

So much work and no time to see the capitulos.

Very belated thank you to Adriana Noel, the absolutely hilarious Cynderella (aka Rhoda Penmark #2), and Paquita.

Your recap was NOT too long, Paquita. It was perfect! So agree with Adriana re "Padre of the Plaid Priesthood". I think it would make a good title for a book series. I think Padre deserves his own show.

Which just got me thinking, why don't any of these stories come back as sequels instead of remakes? I would love to see more of these characters.

Yeah, sequels. That's the ticket!

Fatima

Oooh, sequels! We should be careful what we wish for though. What if Mejia did the sequel? Shudder to think of that possibility!

A sequel to Corazon Indomable, God forbid!

Paquita - Terrific. I thought last night's episode was especially good and your recap captured all its emotion. My favorite snark: "'And return my photo album!' Yeah, that's telling him Big Poppa!"

Ricky means well but he was so out of line. Can't stand Berto, but Berto was right to rebuff Ricky in the office the way he did.

So funny when Eliseo was describing Ricky to Jose Luis. "He's tall, young..." Then, Eliseo sees JL's face kind of fall, so he's quick to add something like "uh, he's not that young."

Variopinta: Don't know the actor's name, but he was the cheating married cop in Un Refugio para el Amor.

Thanks Paquita, I finally got a chance to watch it, this week has been too busy with work and other things. I'm glad for the translations of some of the last bit, I was having trouble following Ricardo's thought processes.

I was hoping that Oriana would show Lucina the picture of Jose Luis. That way Oriana will know that he's staying at the hotel.

This is really going to shake things up when everyone knows about Jose Luis. I still think it's Raquel bribing because I can't think who else could or would do it.

Anonymous, don't you have a problem with Matilde having a problem with Cesar wanting to be a missionary? Isn't ones child doing God's work the ultimate complement for a religious person?

Paquita- This wasn't long-winded. It was wonderful. I haven't seen the episode yet, so I loved the play by play, especially the Minion Report. :) JL’s minion was Johnny the mechanic in Teresa.

I really like how nothing stays secret for long. By next episode, Ricky will know about the resurrection of JL. I also like how people draw logical conclusions, even in the most emotionally charged situations. I'm amazed Oriana is putting together the whole JL thing so quickly. In another tn she would have insisted he was dead, because that was what she was told. But she's going with her instincts on this, and her instincts are right.

Sounds like Ricky has a problem with the Green Eyed Monster. But just one look at Berto should be enough to tell him that Ori would never be interested in that sleaze. Even Raquel hasn’t lowered herself that low (yet). Is Ricky so insecure that he thinks Ori broke up because she just doesn’t want to be with HIM, instead of what she told him about it being about how complicated her life is?

I’m looking forward to Ricky following up on Padre Plaid’s suggestion of the DNA test. I was hoping to read that he grabbed a hairbrush or some such while he was at Sebas’ place. I’m also looking forward to Raquel and JL meeting.

Paquita thanks so much for your recap. Your title was funny too and the recap was not long.

The pace of this tn is quite unusual for most (unless Uni is ripping you to shreds as they are w/LT). I am hoping Ricky finds out the brat is not his.

Vivi - thanks for your comment from yesterday about the baby. Regarding Ricky, he is insecure b/c he is vulnerable; he is in love and knows Oriana loves him too. That and hormones keep him from realizing how stress out Oriana is and why she says she can't handle all this stuff (including him) right now.

Variopinta:

The new lawyer is Julio Manrique alias Rafael del Villar.

We have seen the guy in thousand telenovela eternal third-rate roles. PEAM, MEPS, URPEA, Esmeralda or LFDD Maripaz's lawyer.

Everybody knows but not. :D

Thank you for the recap Paquita.

About Matilde's feelings for César's choices: I don't have a good opinion of her as a person but I don't think her feelings over that are strange or anything. When my friend chose to become a priest his parents were very upset, since they expected him to marry and have children. They weren't so mean like Matilde is being but my friend did tell us that they cried and tried to change his mind at the begining. Fortunately for them my friend fell in love the year before he was ordained and left the seminary but they had already made peace with his choice at that point.

I have to say, since this is the first time that I've commented since Jose Luis reappeared, that I really like Diego Olivera's look here.

I've been very busy with work lately and my next door neighbor died due to hemorrhagic dengue. It was very sad because she was still very young, only four years older than me, and she had small children. I'm home right now because we had to clean up the house since the government notified us that it would send fumigators to all the neighboring houses again today now that she's been buried.

Jarocha

CathyX, Yes, this is a telenovela, but don't you think his sudden decision to quit his job abruptly and become a missionary is troubling? A vocation director would find that troubling. Abrupt decisions are not a good sign. Quitting a job w/o prospects is not a good decision.

And you know and I know it has everything to do w/ that blonde bimbo and whatever happened in the car. Remember how he was curled up in his bed after the incident?

Matilda has good instincts. She has every right to question her son because there's more to the story. Right? You better believe it. And Matilde will be proven right very soon.

Variopinta, you just know that if they ever go for sequels, they WILL choose Corazon Indomable - staring Lupita, Nameless by Solita, Miguelito, Namelss by Simona (or is he Tav Jr?), and Nameless by Esther (does the kid have a name?)
All the old folks would make guest appearances, we'd get to see 20 something Ana Brenda and Daniel Arenas play 50 year olds, Simona would still be waiting to die, Alvaro.. would be already dead because he's just too old even now, only Santa would look exactly the same because, you know, she's Gandalf's sister, therefor a witch, therefor gets old slower.

It could be called The Venganza Monologues and each of the characters described above would have their own venganza against someone - and it would last for 743 episodes, so almost as long as CI already feels like.

Jarocha thanks for stopping by and my condolences to your neighbor.

My problem with Matty is her methods. Of course, she may be disappointed about the missionary decision but she has this life designed for her son that he does not want. And when he doesn't conform, she kicks him out of the house.

Thanks for this most excellent recap Paquita. Very well done. I love the embedded vocabulary.

I'm liking Berto a bit better. He seemed like such a repugnant sulking lump initially but the guy has a sense of humor and I like how he stands up to Ricky. But you have to wonder a bit about him if Raquel won't go there.

Ricky acts just a bit too entitled and big for his britches as far as I'm concerned. I also find his forthright requests for sex very off-putting.

I hope that José Luis chooses to reveal himself to Alina first. I think that would be a very touching and emotional scene.

Carlos

Jarocha- Thanks for dropping in. I'm so sorry to hear about your neighbor. How sad. All the best to you family and neighbors, and I hope the dengue is under control.

So many new developments tonight, with new revelations about the depth of Ricardo's feelings for Ines (my excuse for his jealousy, which was too much), Jose Luis' return and the next installment of the threat letter. Paquita, you covered these and so many other story elements beautifully.

And Jarocha, with others I send my condolences. What a sad event for you and the other neighbors.

Thanks Paquita, great recap. Ricky is using his brain and voicing his opinions. Shocking! Is this a TN? He is actually connecting the dots and following up on leads. Berto is dressed like a cheap dude and looks desperate. How can he possibly aim so high? Oriana is way out of his league.
Madhilde???? I just don't have the energy>

Hanna

Matilde is a two faced hypocrite and a bad mother to my mind. Her mothering is all about HER, not about the best interests of her kids. The only problem Cesar has is that he needs to breathe. He needs to sit down and formulate for himself as a working-unlike his parents-grown adult what he wants to do with his life and at every turn his mother is trying to suborn that. As I said before, matilde needs to harangue herself and her lazy husband and let her son be. Ruben and Matilde basically found in Paloma hustle or a mark they could bleed
dry and that's why she's mad at Orianez-she ruined Matilde and Ruben's plan to wait it out and inherit when Paloma dies.

A thought experiment, especially for the Anonymous poster who dislikes Orianez. Do you think Tilde would have treated the real Ines any better than she is treating Orianez? The real Ines was obviously troubled, having lived a rough life surrounded by prostitution and all the vice that goes with it. Based on how Tilde has reacted to Orianez and especially Alina, I can tell she would've made the real ines' life hell to get Paloma's money because Tilde felt she deserved it and not someone as declasse as Real Ines.

When Phoniana signed those documents, she committed fraud. That's the bottom line. She's bled granny of $5 million pesos to help her fraud friends get a hotel. That's illegal. I ask you, what's dear sweet granny's role in her real daughter's turn to drugs and prostitution?

Ceasar and Fabiola to this point are the only pure good characters in this telenovela? You think that happened w/o Matilde? Or is the writing of this telenovela mere cliche?

The other day someone asked me why I was so focused on Phoniana's lies and not everyone else's. Because it's one thing to lie about your identity, but quite another to sign that name to legal documents. That's fraud. For that reason I cannot sympathize with Phoniana.
