PEAM #180 - El Ultimo Lunes, 11/18/13, We Need All the Angels and Guides We Can Get…

For the last Monday, I give you photos from Oaxaca: The Day of the Dead Parade by Students and my favorite Saturday Market with the Puppy Xolo, Bobo and also my own Willa.

Los Angeles Siempre Ayuden uno al otro

Los Escuincles (Xoloitzcuintle) Xolos were considered sacred dogs by the Aztecs (and also Toltecs, Maya and some other groups) because they believed the dogs were needed by their masters’ souls to help them safely through the underworld. They were also useful companion animals. According to Aztec mythology, the god Xolotl made the Xoloitzcuintli from a sliver of the Bone of Life from which all mankind was made. Xolotl gave this gift to Man with the instruction to guard it with his life and in exchange it would guide Man through the dangers of Mictlan, the world of Death, toward the Evening Star in the Heavens.   Wouldn't you like to have 5 month old Bobo here show you across the great water when you pass to the next world.  -text from Wikipedia

And last but never least, one more recent shot of my personal angel and guide, Willa! These images help me to look to the passing on of this telenovela and on across the great water to the other side where there is light and art and …..

This is my farewell recap many thanks to all the faithful for hanging in…. Hasta la proxima...

Jesús and Delia worry about the disappearance of Valentina and what hideous outcome is Veronica really capable of.

At Avon Alma and Pati discuss the conjugal visit and the upcoming wedding. Last, today is the day that Jesús they are going to arrest Veronica.

Veronica and Valentina in a park look at clouds, Valentina sees an Angel like her amiga Alma.  Veronica is not pleased.

Jesús talks to cops and his Alma worrying about the disappearance of Valentina.

They cannot find Veronica's car yet and Delia tells him not to worry. She consults with the abogada of Jesús and shows him his love's bracelet, which he knows well at first glance, it is indeed Cynthia's.

The monster Veronica stuffs candies into Valentina with a certain manic force.  Poor little Valentina tries to placate her Mamacita as always.

Jesús talks again with Delia who is so sure that a MOTHER won't hurt her daughter. But Jesús recites all the murder and mayhem committed by Veronica and asks her if she really thinks the demonic Veronica is such a good mother that she won't hurt her own daughter when she already sold her baby son, has killed a couple of innocent bystanders and so on and so why not...

Marcia shows up at Rae's and brings her a computer.  This is finally enough to make Rae thank and hug Marcia.

Sebastion, Panfilo and Chatita worry about Valentina and none of the old coots can believe that Veronica can do motherly harm to her daughter.  Dementia is a powerful soporific. Ask me why I know...

Marta offers Rae a better life, an education and the desire to be her MOMMY DEAREST.  The apartment of Jesús is open and they could live there together.  Rae thinks it is bien chido. Some loose ends are being neatly tied up.  I like this particular tie up.

Now Pati has to worry about the disappearance of Valentina and knows perhaps that Veronica has ill intentions about her baby son, Fernandito.  She makes arrangements to get home as soon as she can to protect him herself.

Veronica and Valentina arrive at the special hideaway  house and begin to drink water, Valentina's is marked with a red dot. and suddenly Valentina is so sleepy, asleep, unconscious... Evil mother Veronica fingers the innocent soft locks of the sleeping princess with such evil intent and her signature toothy grin.

Sebastian and Susana dine in elegance. Susana accuses Sebastian of hiding something and he admits he is nervous but she says you know that I love you. She pushes him to get to "al grano" the point, fiddling with this pickets, he fishes out the engagement ring in a box.  Asks if she wants to marry him, he is suddenly the happiest man in the world when she says of course I do.

Jesús vows not to control himself in the search for his daughter. Just as Veronica meets with the hired big killer/crusher guy, he has a cell phone, is it Valentina's phone? but he insists it is all activated as he tells Veronica.  We wait to see whose phone it is while Jesús stays up late in double sincere blue plaid pajamas and robe swearing that he will rescue his daughter.  Alma consoles him and several days ensue.  Veronica instructs the big guy how to keep the sleeping Valentina out with additional applications from the bottle of red dot water.  Big guy carries the princess out and Veronica can spend the day shopping or plotting.  But no! Veronica calls Jesús that he must come alone where she says and tell absolutely no one if he ever wants to see his daughter again…

Berserkonica plans the final showdown with Jesús and sets the trap we can only guess at.  Jesús who is scared enough to lie to his beloved swears that he has to go out but it is really nothing.

Finally Valentina opens her eyes and wonders who this big guy is, not her Papa Jesús,he tries to get her to drink the red dot water, which she smartly throws on the floor, he catches her and makes her drink the red dot water. She agrees but ..
Jesús makes his way to meet Veronica who plans his demise, stupidly telling no one that he is about to be duped by the big duper.

Fortunately the ordinarily witless Alma calls Delia to tell her that she thinks Jesús is going to rescue his daughter and didn't' tell her the truth because he fears interference which he clearly needs.  Delia is all on board that this is a bad sign.  The Big Guy inspects his Valentina teeth marks but Valentina seems totally unconscious.

Delia calls Jesús and tries to find out where he is.  He puts her off.  Meantime Enrique and Delia flirt and surmise where the plot is turning next.  Nobody, I mean nobody thinks Veronica is trying to entrap the deluded Jesús… for sure he has everything under control and no one knows anything.

Speaking of deluded, in white shoes that match his white sport coat, he arrives at the appointed place and rushes down the stairs while the uber-deluded Veronica pours wine and floats about the floor in her angelic wedding dress waiting for the love of her life who must still be our Jesús.  So much evil in such an angelic face, except for the not so angelic sneers and demonic plans.

Fernando and Xochi talk about boobies until the office staff tells them they need to worry about Jesús instead of boobies all the time…

Jesús arrives at the cave of amor to see a greeting painted in lurid colors on the cave wall and the princess bride (Demonica) with white dress and an unfortunate black veil.  He throws her to the couch and threatens until he chokes her and she tells him he will never see Valentina or guess where she is unless she does exactly as she commands.  He accuses her of offing Cynthia and she says what a hypocrite she was. (hope the devil-cam is running)  Then she insists he sit and drink a toast of the fine wine to celebrate their love. She tells him that he is going to marry, oops was going to marry Alma this weekend.  But now she wants to toast to the love that she wants from him. Maldita-onica begins to unravel, rushes to the ice cooler and springs out a tray of tasty bits to charm him.  But well…. what or whose tasty bits is she offering up?

Last scene and previews:  Alma freaks freely in front of her Papa and Chatita, she recounts the wall of the psycho stabbing of Jesús and Valentina.  Alma is sure that Jesús and Valentina are both in great danger.  Veronica has also threatened the wedding of Alma and Jesús.

Delia and her trusty staff plot a rescue while Veronica eats her wedding snack with wine while Jesús worries about Valentina and wants to know where she has hidden his daughter.  She needs his kisses and protestations of love if her wants to know that his daughter will be okay.  He gives a wooden kiss to Veronica's mad passion.

"The Big guy is looking out the window while Valentina sneaks out the door of the hideout.  While Veronica decides that Jesús's kisses are NOT hot enough.  She goes to the drawer to get a gun to register her disappointment.

Next:  Still the threats of death to Jesús, ruin and loss of Valentina, oh my, jiggety jig, home is so far away…

Cheryl:

What a marvelous last recap! I loved the picture of the cute puppy and of course beautiful Willa : )

Ay yi yi, Killeronica is truly round the bend now! What a dress, and the veil, she reminded me of the Corpse Bride I must say. What a wigged out beyotch. She would harm Valentina in a minute. That's all she wants is Chucho.

Poor Vale, but the girl is smart. That henchie's name is Satan, how apropos. I hope she outruns him and runs into someone that will help her. She's been through enough already!

I wish Chucho hadn't been so stupid. Really he should have told Delia all and she would have figured out some way to be unseen by Killeronica. I wonder how he is going to get out of this one.

Cheryl:

I have so enjoyed your recaps for this TN and you will be missed. I look forward to your comments on the other TNs.

Thank you ,Cheryl , for another great recap today and thank you for all of the great recaps during this novela. I have especially enjoyed your wonderful photos.

For once finally Jesus had the appropriate response in the face of Delia's insistence that Veronica wouldn't do anything to Valentina.

"She goes to the drawer to get a gun to register her disappointment." LOVE, LOVE, LOVE.

Great recap.

Veronica needs to die. There is no other fate I can see for her. Valentina can't grow up visiting her in prison or the manicomio and Jesus should not have to worry about whether she will bust out of either such places.

Good point about the entree Veronica served. I mean, she SAID it was salmon, right, but it might well be the main course for a Donner party. Cinthia having been curing in the ground for how long now?

Great recap, Cheryl, thanks so much and thanks also for the photos!

Thank you, Cheryl. Not a lot of laughs in your final episode, were there? Glad you managed to keep your own sense of humor right up to the very end of your recap. I'll miss your lovely weekly photos.

What was with Vero stuffing chocolates and gummy bears into Vale's mouth? Can't she let the kid feed herself, even on their big "happy day" together? I thought she was going to poison her dead right there in the park.

It's nice that Marcia wants to adopt Rai, but it seems a little weird to me. They barely know one another.

Kudos to Sebastian for proposing to Susana in private.

I believe the cell phone Satan gave to Vero was a burner so it supposedly can't be tracked or traced.

I'm very annoyed that Chucho didn't punch Vero in the head when she tried to kiss him. The moment she admitted that someone was looking after Vale, he should have knocked Vero out and looked for her phone to call Lurch, er, I mean Satan. Good thing at least Alma is using her brain.

I thought I saw (or did I imagine it) Satan hesitate after looking at the teeth marks and watching Vale sleep. Like he was wondering whether this final job for Vero was really worth the trouble. If I recall correctly, he's also the one who got cold feet when Vero was beating on pregnant Alma. The guy may actually have a soft spot for pregnant women and small children. It would definitely be nice to see him betray Vero.

Most of all, I'm disappointed that Valentina couldn't be rescued before she realized what was going on. Now she knows her own mother drugged her and left her in the care of a stranger.

Marcia with Rai seems really creepy to me. I know it's just because she's Marta's twin, but the actress should try to look less maniacal in the role. She's kept the same gestures and creeptastic facial expressions. I'd run for the hills if I were Rai.

Enough with the boobies ... I've had enough of that whiny booby!

I was actually thinking last night that the Marta/Marcia actress had done a great job playing the two different characters - until last night. I thought she came off a little bit kooky.

I also thought it was weird/wrong to give the kid a major expensive gift before asking if she wanted to be adopted. And it was also not appropriate to ask Rai before speaking with Chatita (I think she said she hadn't discussed it with her yet).

But let's just ignore all that... I don't think we're supposed to see it that way.

No matter what a villana does I doubt we will ever see a galan decking one.

I am still trying to decide if Veronica is crazy, pretending to be, or just sociopathic.

Thanks so much, Cheryl for this and all the wonderful recaps and photos. so appreciate everything you contribute to our little community.

I worry about how this will all end up for Vale. I guess a tragic death for Demonica would be the kindestr outcome for little Vale --but from the previews I fear she won't get that closure.

I agree that the phone Satan brought Vero was meant to be untraceable -- since the cops had nothing to link Vero to it. Everybody has their phones turned off so they can't be pinged. Luckily Delia got a location off Jesus' phone before he turned it off. Even if she can't locate him exactly, she knows (sort of) where he's headed.

Looking forward to a rescue tonight (I hope.)

The goings-on in this telenovela right now are unwatchable for me, but oh my, I loved, loved, loved your intro and cultural information.

And that picture of Willa is magical.

It looks like it should be the illustration in a wonderful children's book...one of those special books that one remembers all one's life...The Secret Garden, Heidi...well, you get my drift. The picture of Willa is a classic, full of charm and whimsy, and belongs in a tome of fine children's literature. I'd take Willa as my guide and angel anytime.

But this telenovela...ack!!!

Thanks for all the kind words on the little angel/guide photo gallery. I think the doomsday outlook of the end of our creepy story is falling down the rabbit hole.

Veronica needs killin'! No two ways about it.

Marcia is manifesting Marta creepiness in pressuring Rae with inappropriate gifts behind Chatita's back.

Valentina should go directly into therapy and stay there until she doubles her current age.

The Monkey Writers should give us at least one non-boring happy ending.

One more night of torture, thanks for hanging in to all on the team!

Thankfully, Pablo will give us his multi-faceted, ironic write up on the finale.

Thanks, Cheryl for this great recap and all the others. And thank you for sharing your pics. They are beautiful.

How cute were Suarez and Delia?

I also like the end of the Marcia/Rai story, though it kind of came out of left field.

Vero calling Vale “Valentina” instead of “mi amor” or “hija” when she was stroking her hair, creeped me out.

Julie: I was also disappointed that Vale wasn’t rescued before realizing what Vero did.

Anon 11:07: I agree. Enough with the boobies talk. This is the kind of “humor” that gets old fast.

UA: I was wondering about Vero, too. I think that her being OCD at the beginning set the stage for her losing it later—not that OCD people become murderous! But her need to control got twisted into something evil in her.

Will they wind up the bad stuff tonight and then the happy endings on Wednesday? Or are we in for some big bad on Wednesday?

Nanette

I think they showed the last two hours on the same night in Mexico, so the good stuff and the bad stuff might have been intermingled throughout the two hours to keep up viewer interest. I figure a lot of people are probably only interested in Vero's anvil and not the wedding(s).

There's also the preview of Vero sending unconscious Chucho out on a raft, which suggests that this isn't going to be a quick resolution. Especially considering this director's boundless appetite for misery.

I've seen some TNs where it's miserable right up to the very last minute, with 57 minutes of horror followed by three minutes of happy-family and wedding. Like the wedding is little more than the period at the end of a sentence.

I went back and read the recaps for the PESE final and I'm convinced that every single TN should end with a special message from Eva.

Julie:

You are so right, if only we could have a special message from Eva after every TN. I so immensely enjoyed that ending : )

Great recap, Cheryl. But I especially loved the photos. :)

I really hope that Jesus doesn't eat or drink anything Vero gives him. I'm not encouraging violence, but Jesus is a big, muscular guy. He knows reasoning with Vero will never work (he’s been trying for 2 years). Before she was able to get a gun, he could have overpowered her, tied her up, called the police, and then let them do a search with the evidence and clues on hand. What he's doing is getting him nowhere, and the time is ticking by.

I also thought the Rai-Marcia story came out of nowhere. But juaever! It wraps up one storyline, since we know Chatita basically lives in Jesus and Alma's house taking care of the baby. No way would she be able to take care of Rai too.

Thank you, Cheryl, for the recaps and today's photos. I enjoyed reading about xolos. I liked all of Vero's nicknames. Maldita-onica. hahaha.

I agree with you who thought the secene with Marcia and Rai came out of left field. I was thinking, "When did they even meet?" And Marcia tries too hard. It's weird.

I'd like to see Valentina save the day. The writers have already aged her beyond her years. She deserves to be heroine. It'd make a nice twist for her to rescue papa Jesus. Too bad we won't get it.

Bill: maybe Marcia is trying too hard so as to make up for how Marta treated Rai. That's the only explanation I can see.

I never thought of that about Marcia treating Rai that way to make up for Marta. I know this little plot came out of left field, but I agree with Julie that now Rai will be taken care of, they aren't moving across town, they will be two doors down from Chatita, and Chatita did say she got a good vibe from Marcia so I think it will all be good.

Mads: I think we're supposed to believe it will be alright. Maybe the actress just channeled her Marta character by mistake.

Cheryl, another good job along with the fantastic photos. I always learn something in your recaps.
Berserkonicka is a wonderful name for Vero.
This novela has gone from bad to worse with the constant torturous involvement of Valentina. Harming a child is not funny in no way shape or form.
Thank you, Cheryl for hanging in there for the sake of recapping.
Only two more episodes.

Wonderful photos! Bobo is adorable, and of course Willa is elegant beauty manifest.

Cheryl, it's been great fun reading your recaps. I'm just now catching up on these last episodes, so will comment on El Gran Final.
