Corazón Indomable Friday 12/06/13 Here To Visit Maricruz Olivares? Take A Number.

Clutching a colorful chicken to her ample bosom and leading her reluctant burro, Filemón, who has a turkey and a second chicken strapped to his back, la Indía Maria takes a moment to catch up on the local gossip with Santa... ¿Qué? I look back up at the paused TV screen... yes, that's Santa, a burro, Indía María and a healthy handsome hen... did I miss something?

"Do You Think We Could Get Jobs Posing Nude In Mexico?"

Wait... confused? Yeah, so am I. Thinking that someone may have been diddling with my drink, I gaze at the half empty pony glass from which I've been gently sipping some Gran Centinario Añejo. Looks OK... smells right... a cautious taste with just the tip of the tongue... Hmmm tastes fine... smoky, a bit of an astringent but gentle bite, hints of vanilla and cinnamon... let's move on.

María's been out of the loop and says that she has heard that José Antonio has changed... gone over to the dark side and has been cheating Maricruz.  Santa tells her that's not the half of it... Maricruz is in jail in Mexico for killing a man for painting her naked. María is shocked and wonders if we all wouldn't be better off as burros. She gives that impish smile of hers and hugs Filemón.

Now this is more like it... We join Maricruz in the prison visitation room having a little chat with an old friend... Doris. Doris reveals that she is paying for Maricruz's lawyer. She comforts Maricruz by telling her that she doesn't have to worry about her daughter or Octavio. She will look after the both for the next... ummm... 40 years or so and that Lupita'll make a great big sister for the other children that she and Octavio will soon be having,

"Did I tell you? We're going to marry in a few days and move to Isla Dorada."

Reassured, Maricruz thanks her and goes back to her cell. She tells Doris that she won't really be needing the lawyer that she has been paying for.

"Save the money and spend it on you and Octavio."

Meanwhile, on a damp prison patio Carola and Carmela discuss a way to welcome Maricruz to her new home. Maybe during lunch.

Alone in her cell, Maricruz doubts Doris' good intentions for coming to visit,

"She came solely for that, to rub in my face that she is paying for my lawyer as if it were charity and that she is going to marry Octavio. That she will marry him and they will move far away."

Yup... that's pretty much the way I heard it.

She clasps her hands to her forehead in frustration and anger. She really doesn't like the idea of Doris as Lupita's stepmom.

Carmela and Carola have planned a little welcome surprise for Maricruz at lunch. A bunch of the other girls have agreed to pitch in. Maricruz has been a bit standoffish and they want to make her feel like one of the guys... or see her dead. Whichever works best.

María and Santa continue their gossip. María imagines how things might have turned out between Ramiro and her if he had only stuck around a little longer. She thinks that she and Santa might yet snare a man if they go to Mexico where there're more to choose from. Both agree that Maricruz is almost certainly innocent. María gives Santa the chicken. No mention of José Antonio's accident. María is seriously considering a trip to the big city. She tells Filemón not to worry, she doesn't plan on riding him there... she'll take the bus.

"(I Wonder How Much They Paid That Rat?)"

As Doris, who is sitting outside the prison in her car suspected, Octavio arrives in a cab to visit our caged bird.

"I knew it, I knew that he would come to see her."

She doesn't think that, after their little chat, Maricruz will be in a mood to see him.

And She'll Have Fun Fun Fun Till Her Daddy Takes The T-Bird Away.

Octavio asks the guard in the visitors' room if he may visit Maricuz Olivares or María Alejandra Mendoza. The guard informs him that she has just visited with a lady and has gone back to her cell. She'll check, She asks his name,

"Octavio Narváez."

Maricruz is still pouting about Doris marrying Octavio and becoming Lupita's stepmom. Maybe something she should discuss with Octavio, don't you think? Well, think again buckeroo. When the guard announces her visitor, she looks wistful... we even hear a few notes of their piano theme...

"Nobody Knows The Trouble I've Seen"

But first let's look in on José Antonio. As most of us hoped... he looks bad.

Suffer You Bastard!

The Dr. examines him and confirms that he is in terrible shape. He tells Ester who is weeping at his bedside that things are grim and it'll be 72 hrs. before we know if he'll even live. Worse, he may end up being an invalid. If he survives he'll likely spend the rest of his life in a wheelchair.

"...The Good News...There's A Sale On Wheelchairs At Walmart."

Do I hear weeping out there? Thought not.

The guard remarks that he's very handsome and when Maricruz tells her he's her daughter's daddy, she guesses that the child must be very beautiful.

"Very beautiful and very intelligent."

Maricruz adds with a smile.

But then, with Doris' words from earlier echoing in her head, she tells the guard to send him away. She never wants to see him again. Just like that. (These two, whatever their differences really should talk.)

The guard dolefuly delivers the message.

"Sorry."

As he sadly leaves the prison, still hidden in her car, Doris watches and gloats.

María has decided to leave Filemón with her friend, Román, while she's away. Since Román is a very clean person (bathes every 15 days or so) she is giving Filemón a bath. After sponging him of a bit, she opts for a full submersion and tugging on his leadrope tries coaxing him into the river. Well how cute is this? As she pulls, he balks, she falls back... wait for it... into the river.

What Do The Simple Folk Do?

Who could have ever seen that coming?

Lunchtime at the prison. Carola has arranged for everyone to line up for food just as Maricruz comes in.

 Woooo.

 Maricruz says nary a word.

Back at his hotel Octavio finds Doris waiting. She inquires,

"Where have you been?

Carola invites Maricruz to sit at the mean girls table. Maricruz declines. Carmela kicks over a chair. Woooo. Carola tells Maricruz not to be afraid,

"Sit down."

Maricruz quietly stands with her tray. The scary guard across the room insists,

"The Carola is offering you a good spot, or what, would you rather start a fight?"

Back at the hotel, Octavio admits that he went to the prison to see Maricruz but that she refused to see him. Doris seems pleased.

The guard approaches Maricruz and insists a bit more firmly. Maricruz quietly approaches the seat opened up for her when (wow, another surprise we didn't see coming) Carmela, who has stood up, gives her a little push from behind. Oops! Maricruz dumps her tray in Carola's lap.

"How 'Bout Some Gravy With Those Mashed Potatoes?"

I doubt that came off exactly as planned. Oh well. Carola slaps Maricruz. Maricruz responds in kind.

Woooo!

The fight is quickly broken up after a commercial break. Bad Guard scolds Maricruz. Nice Guard (not nearly as ... ummm... substantial) scolds Carola.  It gets sorted out... sorta... we are left with the two guards in a glaring match.

Indía María  and Filemón arrive at the bus stop/station. Román is not there  yet so to keep someone from stealing him she tethers Filemón to the bus back bumper.

Now What Could Possibly Go Wrong?

She hurries to purchase her ticket.

In the prison cafeteria, opinions vary as to who was responsible for the little dustup. Maricruz joins her new inmate friend (Cira?) at her table. Cira bravely confronts Carola. I sense a great deal of negativity here.

María banters with the ticket agent. There is word play involving the word corrida which means bull ring but also bus route schedule in Mexico. He calls her a crazy old lady after she leaves. Boarding for her bus is announced. She tries to convince the ticket agent to store her burro until her friend comes for him.

Doris and Octavio chat about Maricruz, Lupita, the past and the future. Doris sums things up by pointing out that Maricruz is looking at at least 20 years in prison.

"Talk To The Hand."

Teresa, the hefty mean guard counsels with Maricruz. She explains that all are equals here in prison but that some are more equal than others. Carola is one of those. You have to go along to get along. Stuff like that. Maricruz asks God for strength.

Simona visits José Antonio's bedside. Ester explains the gravity of the situation.

Cira (the nice inmate) brings Maricruz a tray with fresh food. (Hers got spilled awhile ago... remember). She sits with Maricruz. They discuss Carola. Maricruz tells her that they were old friends before prison. Cira suggests that Maricruz nice-up and make a few new friends while she is here since it looks like she'll be staying awhile.

The nice guard tells Maricruz that she has more visitors. This time it's a quiet pregnant chick with a cute husband and an older lady with them. Maricruz correctly guesses that Solita is here. She joins them.

"(This Little Light Of Mine...)"

Ester tells Simona that she feels that God is punishing them for the way they treated Maricruz. Simona doesn't disagree and comforts her by telling her to be strong and stand by her man... Next!

They're all glad to see her. They think she's innocent. Nilda offers to help pay for a lawyer. Maricruz tells her that she's guilty so she doesn't need any lawyer... Next!

Well, time for a PSA. Don't... I repeat... don't tie your donkey to the back bumper of a bus about to depart. María chases after the bus dragging Filemón. (Anyone else flashing back to the dog in the movie Vacation?)

Carola and Carmela hold a debriefing after their less than successful welcome for Maricruz. Certainly Dominga (Nice Guard) and Teresa (Mean Guard) bear some blame. They agree that mistakes were made. Oh well, it's not like there won't be more opportunities over the next 20 or so years.

In a restaurant, Octavio consults with Maricruz's lawyer. He doesn't fully grasp the relationship dynamics at work here. He thought that Octavio is engaged to Doris and here is Octavio expressing hopes to reunite with his client. He tells Octavio that, what with Maricruz insisting that she's guilty and all, the best deal he can hope to get for her is 10 years. Sharp as ever, Octavio immediately recognizes,

"10 years is a lot, Licenciado."

And some of you have asserted that he has only one functioning brain cell. Doubters. Haters. Whiners. Complainers. Crybabies.

Octavio still has confidence in the lawyer.

Maricruz is in her cell with her bunkmate, Carola. She is trying to read.

"(Hmmm... Fifty Shades of Grey, Chapter 2)"

Carola is busy taunting,

"I'm talking to you. What? Can't hear me?"

She's still worked up about having soup spilled in her lap and describes what she would have done if the meddling guards hadn't intervened,

"You wouldn't have a hair left on your head."

Woooo!

Maricruz responds,

"You too should be careful of me."

Woooo!

Next day we see Maricruz's lawyer approaching the prison.

Looks like the girls are having another meal. Carola is chunking bits of food at Maricruz who is sitting at a different table.

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun!

Dang, this is a really scary place.

Teresa tells Maricruz to move closer to the table. Dominga enters and announces that Maricruz has another guest waiting to visit with her. Heck, if this keeps up Maricruz will need a receptionist. Looking bored Maricruz asks who it is.

"It's your lawyer, Licenciado Navarro."

She gets up,

"I'll be right back."

He stands and asks her to sit. He wants a detailed account of the crime and pleads with her to be honest with him. She tells him that she knows that Doris hired him. She tells him that she's guilty and doesn't need him.

Meanwhile Alvaro is getting permission from the warden to visit Maricruz. Looks like she has a busy day of entertaining guests ahead of her. Permission approved but he'll have to get in line. Right now she's with her lawyer. He'll wait.

Maricruz asks her lawyer why she should trust him since Doris hired him. He tells her that he's an honest lawyer doing his job even though Doris does indeed want to see her in jail for a long long time.

While Octavio, who is alone in his hotel room, avows that he is even more convinced of his ex-wife's innocence, the lawyer is urging her to put her trust in him.

A frantic Aníbal is visiting Natasha. He wants his painting, Liberación, back. Alfonso removed Aníbal's signature, signed it himself, and has now sold it to some German guy named Von Klaus.  Aníbal, who is not thinking clearly wants to go to Germany, explain the truth of the situation and retrieve his masterpiece. Natasha reminds him that they had all agreed to help Alfonso out by each lending him a painting to display at his exhibition. Better that Aníbal paint another masterpiece. He doesn't see
how since he hs no money for paint, canvas, or other supplies. (I suppose he could use the money that the trip to Germany would cost.) Natasha offers to buy him the supplies that he needs. He just wants his painting back.

"Maybe I Could Convince Them That I'm Crazy."

He wants her and the other artists to back up his claim to the painting since otherwise no one will believe him. She explains that would be breaking some sort of artists' code and bring shame to Alfonso's memory,

 "We all swore..."

he swears that he didn't swear nothing. She tries to get him to relax and offers to get him a warm drink.

"But Natasha, I can't rest, nor eat, nor sleep. Because... I killed Alfonso del Olmo."

♪ DUNG! ♪

Back at the prison, Maricruz isn't sure why but she believes lawyer Narvarro. Even so, she dismisses him as her lawyer because she wants nothing to do with anything tied to Doris. He's troubled but accepts her decision. He gets up and shakes her hand,

"Con permiso, Señora. Hasta luego."

Then You Do The Hokey Pokey And...

"Hasta luego. Gracias."

Next!

It's... Alvaro! He even knows the lawyer and greets him as he exits. They agree to talk later.

"Well,  Good Luck, But I've Already Tried A Tuba"

Maricruz is sitting alone at the visitors table with her head in her hands... she looks up... Alvaro grabs her hand and kisses it (sorry, no tuba)...

"Sorry But They Wouldn't Let My Tuba Come In"

She may not love him but she sure looks glad to see him...

"Alvaro!"

Thanks Carlos, so many unpredictable happenings today. Not!

I was afraid that Filemon would get dragged by the bus like JA got dragged, but I would feel sorry for the burro. Ester needs to wear waterproof mascara.

I hope they bring back Teobaldo. I would like to see him again too before this is over.

Carlos..."I've got Sunshine on a Cloudy Day" ..thanks to our guy...Carlos. I must confess that I quickly had a to check out your photos and clever captions, and you have outdone yourself, amigo. I especially enjoyed the tributes to The Beach Boys and Cindy Lauper.

Hub happened to be in the living room when the lady was washing her burro. He stared transfixed for a moment before saying, "Well, we know how this is going to end, " as he walked out of the room. It's nice to know that the writers are offering us a substitute jackass after the original has been put out of commission.

Well, I was in the middle of weekend chores and gift wrapping when I decided to peek in on Caraycaray. Now, I must get back to work. Overcast here with a prediction of snow and ice in our future. Yuck. Later, gators.

Yeah, the whole donkey thing bothered me too. First she yanking on the rope and about to pull his head off and then she ties him to the bus. I was worried that the poor thing would get dragged behind the bus.

Thanks cathyx, Susanlynn, and briishcomedyfan,

Well, gang, I did the best I could with what I had to work with.

cathyx, I must admit that the only surprise was the return of la Indía María.

Susanlynn, I thought you might enjoy the song title captions. Did I hit on an earworm for you?

britishcomedyfan, welcome to the CI discussion group. Thankfully, it appears that no burros were harmed in the filming of this... just embarrassed.

Carlos

I was thinking about Maria a few days ago, but I didn't think they would bring her back.

I wasn't surprised that MC would not see Octavio. She has to believe every word that Doris tells her of course. And even after the mother of the year has a problem with Doris raising her daughter, she still turns down the help of a lawyer. Go MC. Maybe she'll request the max sentence too.

Yes, Carlos, thanks for the Beach Boys' ear worm. I recently heard them sing that song at a concert . They were great. Do you think. Doris was listening to them on the radio ? ...probably not.

Awesome as always, Carlos, but MC reading Fifty Shades of Grey has to be one of your best captions EVER.
:))))))))))

Loved, loved, loved the song captions. And amazed at how well your wry, slightly detached humor and writing style adapts to these absurd episodes.

"I sense a great deal of negativity here."

(Reminds me of my husband "processing negative energy" instead of saying he was having a heart attack. So much funnier when it's in YOUR recap rather than in MY life, amigo mio!)

"(Hmmmm...Fifty Shades of Gray, Chapter 2)" Ah, now you have me laughing out loud, you wretch! Wicked, wicked, wicked.

"Heck if this keeps up, Maricruz will need a receptionist."

Funny from beginning to end. Much better than the episode (Do NOT take that personally, Gringo and Vida)and just a treat.

Which the show Friday was not.

(Gringo and Vida, see previous disclaimer).

Can someone explain me, why Carola hates MC so much? I think, she should be thankful, because she got from her part much more then ever expected.
Alegria

Thanks Adriana, Judy, and Alegria,

Adriana, and here I was thinking that was something of a throwaway line.

Judy, sadly, I must agree with you about the quality of the episode. I think that they may have pieced together some sweepings from the cutting room floor. Here I sit finding myself in the awkward spot of rooting for OU while waiting for the Baylor matchup with Texas.

Alegria, I'm with you on that. I thought that María Alejandra parted ways on rather good terms. What were the odds that they'd end up as cellmates in the same prison?

Carlos

Carlos, as a recapper, I got the biggest laughs in here with some of the lines I didn't care too much about.
It's all about perception, I guess.
This has been one of the most sexy-less tns I've ever seen, the leads humped like rabbits in the first few episodes and then shared a few kisses for the next +100.
So, I'm guessing MC has either forgot how to do it, or love making is just another one of the areas where Tav is oblivious - so, she needs to research for when she gets out of jail.

Carlos, when this show aired in Mexico we all knew, that Carola will return. Looooong before. Were rumours, that Carola was chosen by the audience as the best villain of the show. That is why she was returned. Romero looked at his previous novelas and found only one chance to return her - put her in prison. And if people liked her as a villain, she will be even worse then ever. And all this sooo stupid and old-fasioned. That is why I hate Romero. He made his screenplay look like I'm watching novela from 70-s. As if I had no choice to see modern novelas, never had internet and so on.
Alegria

yes, Adriana, for a girl who everyone calls a wanton savage, Mari has not had much of a sex life, has she ? How old is Lupita supposed to be ? In fact, there is not much happening in that department for anyone on this show now that the artist is out of the picture. Oh, I forgot about Solita and Perico expecting a sibling for little Nameless. ....Nameless II .

....and newly weds Simona and Dr. Lovelorn .

I woke up this morning thinking about the mountain of negative comments that I will have to wade through from the CI Complainers Club. It's enough to make you not enjoy your coffee. However the recap came long after I had finished my morning coffee. Oh well, the recap came up and so I started to dig in. WOW!! A laugh right from the start---"Take A Number." A home run for sure. The ball traveled so far, it's out of the park. Carlos, unlike others, I must admit that I had thought that on several occasions recently your picture captions were---well, a little less than?
This time however---well I'll just say that that Derek Jeter and Alex Rodrigues would have a hard time keeping up with you. Just about everyone a home run. I have to wonder if that tequila
especial had anything to do with your brilliance this time around?
Enough praise for now, I don't want to be responsible for causing you to have to go out and spend your Christmas money on a larger size Stetson hat. I'll climb the mountain of negativity and battle with the Complainers Club a little later. First I will have to take my vitamins and gather up my strength, and read all of the posted complaints that
are sure to be pouring in from last night.
the gringo

Excellent recap Carlos! I found the episode a bit dull and more filler but you recap was so much more interesting.

Who will we see next? The Emir and Teo? Then Ed and Aracely? Starting to feel like old home week.

Esther admitting that both she and JA treated MC poorly was just too little too late and if she returned they would still treat her badly. Glad JA got his but again too little too late for me.

Previews show Tav finally getting to see MC. When he tells her he didn't do it will she finally fight for her freedom? We can only hope! How many episodes are left? Id like to finish up before the Xmas holidays.

Thanks gringo and Carvivlie,

gringo, at first I was cocerned that you had been abducted and replaced with a Stepford gringo. But there was enough sauciness left for me to recognize the true gringo. I'm glad that you enjoyed the recap , the title, and the photos with captions. I have to admit that this episode provided a lot of title options and photo-ops.

Carvivlie,of the old characters that could return, I think that I'd most appreciate an encore from the Ex-mir Karim and Teobaldo... not Ángel...Teobaldo. I also wouldn't mind seeing what's become of Raiza.

Carlos

Carlos...Ex-Mir is on the run in Robo, so he may not be able to join the Free Mari movement that is underway as he is currently trying to keep himself out of jail. Que lastima.

Carlos, thanks for the nonstop laughs you provided for us today. I loved your setting the scene with your glass of tequila.
There were just too many good captions and observations.

Maricruz worried about Doris as a stepmother: maybe she should have thought about that before she lied her way into jail.

This whole novela could be used as a PSA/cautionary tale for anyone prone to compulsive actions or those in possession of that one brain cell.

cathyx, I too was worried that Filemon would end up like JA. It looks like JA will now be marginalized for the rest of the story if he survive.

Looks like Maricruz is going to be drawn into the prison drama somehow and since she won't back down I fear it is going to get ugly. But the ugliness can't last too long because the happy ending is in sight!

Jarifa

Oh my gosh, Carlos, the whole dang recap is so funny punctuated with those great pics and captions it's hard to pic a fav. Each caption is so believable and fits right in with the whole wacky story right now. Just wanted to thank you. Will enjoy the comments soon which I'm sure will echo many of my own thoughts. Gracias!

Ooops. Lila as anon 6:38 p.m.

Thanks Jarifa and Lila,

Heck, after reading some of these comments, maybe this episode was better than I realized. It was certainly full of low hanging fruit and I even managed to pick some up off the ground.

Jarifa, so far it's difficult to picture that much danger lurking in the depths of the prison. The rat looked fat and sassy and as for the prison inhabitants... I've seen more rowdy and dangerous looking daycare populations.

Lila, your praise makes me blush. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Congratulations to my Baylor Bears in their 30 to 10 victory over Texas to clench the Big 12 Title in college football.

Carlos

Carlos...this line gave me a giggle : in regards to jackAssh. ,As mNy of us hoped...he looks bad., Yes, indeed.

congratulations to your Baylor Bears !

I knew that the negativity would be coming. "absurd episodes"---sweepings from the cutting room floor? JudyB are you and Carlos on a tag team? Carlos is good but not better than the episode, PLEASE!!!

Cathyx---LOL It's nice to know that the writers are offering us a substitute jackass after the original one had been put out of commission.

Which brings up several complaints from the Complaint Club
about CI abandoning past characters---and there she was, India Maria. Looks like the Complaint Club was WRONG AGAIN.

Alegria---Carola wanted to own the casino, Mari kept her from it.
Also Maricruz exposed her stealing

Jarifa---I agree. I think that it's going to get pretty rough in
cell block #9. Carola and her buddy look pretty mean, add a couple more baddies and maybe the mean prison guard and the Goddess
of Mexico might not look so pretty in the near future. That's my guess. When One Cell finally realizes that Maricruz was willing to sacrifice all for him, they will be bound together forever.

Friday I walked pass an elementary school near my house. Walking toward me was a Latino lady With her little daughter. The little girl could have been Lupita's twin or at least her sister. I couldn't believe it. The looks and hair were identical.
The little girl had her tight curly hair pulled up on each side just the way Lupita's was when Carlos described it as dog's ears. I couldn't believe what was walking toward me, CI in person. Well, you know what I mean. It made me very happy.
the gringo

And who knew that The big O was good with numbers ? indeed, 10 IS a lot...less than 11 but definitely more than..say..9. We knew that he was an idiot, but now we learn that he is an idiot savant. ...the Mexican Rain Man.

gringo,

"Carlos is good but not better than the episode, PLEASE!!!"

¡Eso! Now there's my gringo that I've come to know and love.

"...just the way Lupita's was when Carlos described it as dog's ears."

I meant that with utmost affection. My daughter (now a bit older) had/has identical hair (except hers is lighter) and we used to do it up in identical fashion.

Carlos

@Carlos - your recap and captions were a THOUSAND times more entertaining than this nothing-but-filler episode.

And kudos to all the peeps commenting today. Wow, you all are on fire.

Oh, Carlos, if I may, I suggest you stock up on your tequila. I don't know if you realize this, but it looks like you will be in charge of recapping the TWO-HOUR FINALE on Friday, December 20th.

Gringo, I think that the tray incident in the cafeteria was unfortunately just a warmup. I dislike hospital scenes the most but jail scenes are getting to be a very close second.

Jarifa

Thanks Latina,

and... NOOOOOOO!

Carlos

Carlos, you gave us a great recap to savor over the weekend. Hard to pick a fave photo--all the captions were masterful.

We have so many cameo roles going on in this TN. Can't help wonder if the producers took bids and collected money from the actors or if they cast the roles based on favors they owed. Hadn't expected to see India Maria again.

I do hope JA regains enough sense to feel sorry for his bad deeds. I wouldn't want his injuries to be purely decorative.

I'm sure you're not thrilled with the finale falling to your rotation, but I look forward to having your sure hand at the tiller as we sail into the sunset with this one. Just save some of the special tequila for the event.

Yup, boring filler episode wiped out by a thoroughly entertaining recap.

Interesting that as much time as MariCruz spent in over 100 episodes with her Venganza monologues, she's only managed to get it against Lucia in the mud pit. Every other person that hurt and humiliated her who has suffered an anvil has done so in a manner thoroughly unrelated to her. Eusebio was killed by Miguel for messing with Lucia. Simona got a brain tumor (although she DID fall from a horse while in a rage over MC, it was nothing that MC meant to do intentionally). Miguel was killed by Nazario for killing Eusebio. The Emir was ruined by his countrymen. Alfonso was killed by Anibal for stealing his painting. Even Lucia's final anvil came as a result of an auto accident.

I like it better when the villanos suffer at the hands of the good guys (think Amor Bravio, CME, etc).

My name is Naima, and I am a complainaholic.

Thanks Paloma and Naima,

Paloma, I'm still reeling over the news that I may be up for the last (and to add insult to injury...2 hr) episode. Thanks for the confidence in me that you expressed. Maybe we'll get a lot of flashbacks and a long drawn out wedding.

Naima, I have to agree with your evaluation of Maricruz's vengeance. She managed to have that one triumphant moment at the rose garden, but other than that, she's mostly damaged herself, those she loves, and some innocent bystanders.

Latina, I agree that the comments this weekend have been excellent. I've got the Tequila, but I'm hoping for an emergency soccer game or maybe an awards show... Yikes!... 2 hrs. I'm guessing that gringo will have high expectations. By the way, volunteers are welcomed and encouraged... we could make this a class project.

Carlos

Thanks Carlos! You also rescued the episode for me. I kept muting the show (especially during the prison cafeteria scenes) and grumbling "Ugh, more filler!!!!".

Thanks so much for your images and captions to make it all better.

So Carola was voted back as "best villain"? After she escaped Isla Dorada with a more than generous buyout? Hmmmmm.......

Remember, in many TNs, villains don't have any particular reasons they are a villain, they are just generally nasty people looking to make someone else's life miserable.

And the poor protagonistas are somehow super powerful villain magnets. That's how they got to be the lead character(s).

Great pictures and captions Carlos.
I was happy to see the return of La India Maria. I am probably the only one who enjoys her movies.
I also think Ana Brenda has done a remarkable job with the drivel that was written for her, (many of the other actors as well).
Has Daniel Arenas played a bad guy in previous novelas? This is the first one I've seen him in, but he has been such an AWFUL good guy in this one, that I believe he would be a really AWFUL bad guy if given the opportunity.
And my vote for whether Mari and Octavio wind up together at the end goes in the NO column.

5 CATS

Carlos- I wanted to see the episode first, before commenting on your excellent and funny recap, but I just can't get around to watching. I find myself choosing to play Scrabble against my tablet instead.

Wow! So Carola, Maria, and Filemon are all back! Even reject suitor Alvaro, minus his tuba. The writers are going to pull out all the stops for these finale episodes. I say, bring dead Lucia back as a ghost, too!

There definitely was a lot of filler in this episode. The entire India Maria could be ff'd and the prison discussions. None of that advanced the plot.

I hope that Octavio gets married one more time before he ends up with MC. Then Doris can get a brain tumor and die and Octavio can inherit all her money all the while taking the 10-20 years for MC to get out so they can get married when she's out. Lupita can be her maid of honor. No, better yet, Lupita and MC have a double wedding. Surely this can be accomplished in the last 2 weeks with the marvelous editing we've seen so far.

Thanks Audrey, 5 CATS, and Vivi,

Audrey, I always considered Lucia as the most dangerous, most entertaining, and well, best villain. I enjoyed Carola, but always considered her as more of a thorn in Maricruz's side than as a real threat. Before she departed the first time I considered her as being more greedy and pragmatic rather than evil. She told Maricruz that she killed a man but I just don't see her as a killer. Now if it turns out that she killed Teobaldo, then I may reconsider.

5 Cats, I have a very strong affection for la India María because my beloved Spanish tutor, Adriana, introduced her to early on in my Spanish lessons which included a close look at Mexican culture.

Vivi, Scrabble? Against your tablet? If you get a chance you should check out the India María scenes... they're classic and predictable which I don't thin is a bad thing. The scenes at José Antonio's bedside were weirdly funny to me, and Aníbal's scene was fun. I really like this actor.

A troubling thing for me is that when prisons are involved in TNs, someone invariably gets stabbed. I really don't want to see Maricruz get stabbed or see her stab anyone.

Carlos

cathyx, I like the double wedding. Años despues, we could have Maricruz finally getting out of prison. During those intervening years, Lupita has fallen in love with Shadrach (formerly Noname Boy), Solita's son, they have a year old daughter (still unnamed of course), but have not married. In a surprise move, it becomes a triple wedding as Maricruz (freshly out of prison) and Octavio (freshly made a widower after Doris' brain explodes during one of her eye-popping attacks) decide to wed, and Miguelito ("Do you like gladiator movies, Miguelito?) and his boyfriend from daycare days decide to tie the knot as well.

Carlos

Speaking of no name, I didn't see him when they visited MC in jail. Where was he?

Insult to injury??? OH PLEASE Carlos!!!Your hat size has already grown by the mountain of flattering comments. I'm sure that
the final mountain of flattering comments will keep you in pain all through Christmas and maybe through the New Year too. Get real
Pain and injury/suffering? Who do you think you're foolin'---Not the gringo. You'll look good in that new larger sized Stetson or is it a Resistol?

Negative comments--negative comments. Blah Blah Blah. A lot of hot air. I think that if I ever read anything nice about CI, that I would have a heart attack and miss the ending.

Filler--filler--filler Right! Everything is filler. Bring back the forgotten cast members, and when they come back---well, it's just filler that's all.

Sorry to spoil your end scenario Cathyx but Mari will be out long before her 10--20 year sentence is up.

My ending scenario. In every prison scene either the villain gets sent to prison and is killed while he is there or the good guy gets falsely sent to prison where he gets beat up and suffers a lot before the truth comes out and he is released. I think that Maricruz will get jumped and beat up badly. When One Cell realizes that she did it all because of her love for him, electricity will start to flow through what little brain he has and he will have a transformation. The end result will be that they along with the two children will live happily ever after.
the gringo

My ending scenario, MC becomes Carola's prison wife. Lupita, inheriting her parent's intelligence and raised without her mother, runs off with the first boy who shows her the attention she so craves and joins the circus. After they get married, Doris drives Octavio to drink and he loses their vast fortune at the casino's on Isla Dorado. He becomes homeless and goes back to Simona's and ends up marrying Ofelia, who is the only one who has had any stability in this entire show. They live happily ever after.

Romero hasn't imagination at all. Everything was sooo dull before. Every conflict ended very easy. So many time we spent on watching crazy Simona and then she sent Octavio free in 5 minutes. Few episodes everyone were looking for Octavito and he was found in 5 minutes with story "next". I'm afraid, that here everything will end the same way. Endless episodes in prison, which are absolutely unimportant for the plot, but then MC will be free in 5 minutes and "next".
Sergio Goyri in all his interviews said, that public liked him sooo much, that he will fight for the love of MC till the last episode. Really?
It's not a spoilers. I's what I feel watching all this episodes in September.
Alegria

Thanks for this wonderful recap Carlos. And after your great work, you continue with your comments; this one made me giddy, "I've seen more rowdy and dangerous looking daycare populations." Congrats to your Bears.

Regarding bringing back people, I want to see the Emir and Angel/Teo.

Thanks Karen,

"I want to see the Emir and Angel/Teo."

And since Ángel now works for the Ex-mir, it would make sense if they both show up.

Carlos

Cathyx..I like your ending. It can happen in our minds.

I haven't had must of a chance to post a comment. I'm with Gringo and Vida. I love CI and can't WAIT until the next episode.

I want to thank all you recappers for a job well done. I reply on the recaps and closed captions to understand what is going on. So again a BIG THANKS to you guys. I really new at novelas.

Carlos I so glad you have the opportunity to recap the last episode. I love your pictures and captions. Being a south Texan (CC), I got your points. I was going the for the Longhorns.

Thanks Susanlynn. But I can predict the real ending as well as anyone.

Natasha tells the police that the crazy painter confessed, they check his fingerprints and it's a match. MC gets out, Doris finds out first but keeps the news from Octavio. Octavio and MC keep near miss running into each other until they finally do, they kiss, the end.

I forgot to add that India Marie shows up in the big city with her burro, hijinks ensue for more time filler, she sees Octavio. She then goes to the jail with her burro to see MC, more hijinks ensue at the jail, she finds out MC isn't in jail anymore, then tells Octavio that MC isn't in jail anymore, but MC is no longer at her 'on display' apartment so they try to look for her all over the city. Needless to say, more India Marie hijinks ensue until they are reunited.

Cathy, the expression "hijinks ensue" always makes me laugh, it's just so FUNNY!
Thank you for the laugh!

Don't thank me, thank India Maria for all of her ensuing hijinks.

Carlos: Thank you for the laughs. I'm looking forward to having you at the helm for that last episode.

Like everybody else, I was more wondered about the donkey than the other JA. And he seems kind of small for India Maria to be trying to ride him.

I don't mind the India Maria scenes either. I really enjoyed the ones early on when she was delivering pizzas in Mexico City.

5 CATS: Daniel Arenas played a "villain" very nicely in Teresa. He wasn't exactly evil, but he cheated on his sweet girlfriend and broke her heart. His character (Fernando) wasn't thinking with his brain in that TN either.

Thanks Aleta,

and thanks for the expression of confidence. I'm not a huge fan of TN weddings. Maybe this will be one of those where everyone who is still alive shows up and I'll mainly just have to call roll.

With it being 2 hrs. (really? 2 hrs.?) I suppose I may have some mayhem to deal with in the first hr. Maybe Lupita will manage to get herself kidnapped or lost again.

Carlos

Thank you Carlos for another witty and fun recap. I loved your introduction and it was the perfect start to our incredible story.

Though one has to question MC's choice to spend decades in prison rather than with her daughter, several have noted India Maria's decidedly poor burro mothering skills as well. I cannot help but deplore her choices of burro care throughout this episode. Tying one's burro to the back of a bus while imploring some stranger to watch over your burro niño until designated caregiver may or may not show up had me shaking my head in amazement.

Also, since I did not see it mentioned, I'll point out there was a monkey sighting on Thursday. As Solita was being informed in that intuitive way of hers about her sister's jailbird status, we could see a monkey tail circling the sofa behind Nilda and then behind Solita. Since it was really only a monkey tail sighting, perhaps our monkey is still busy with other projects and this was his stand-in body double.

Barbara

Carlos: Thanks for the laughs! The captions were to die for! I didn't realize I'd slept through most of the last half of this schmaltz, so I appreciate the rundown of all I missed.
======
I have to admit I cringed with the jackass being tied to the bus. We could have done without that IMNSHO.

Thanks Barbara and Jardinera,

it looks as you both found that tying of the burro to the bus bumper to be disturbing. I had immediate flashback to this scene from the movie Vacation. We never got to see how things turned out for Filemón.

Carlos

I would not be surprised if the donkey shows up in Mexico City. I imagine the bus ride will be awfully slow, unless they use the Mejia horse teleporter again.

OK Carlos---Since Christmas is just around the corner and also because I know that the tequila especial is quite expensive, your funds must be running low. I know that you will be needing a larger hat size and it get's cold in Texas, a head covering is a must to prevent pneumonia or something even worse. Because it is Christmas and because the gringo understands your situation, I will be willing to chip in a little to help you out this one time. If the mountain of adoration
had not poured in and made your head swell, all of this wouldn't have been necessary but since this is the way it is, it's the least the gringo can do.

Bluejean---I'm glad that you are with Vita2 and myself, it had been
getting quite lonely just us two against all of Caray Land.

Aleta---Right! The India Maria scenes are a hoot and fun to watch
Filler? Blah, blah, blah! So what!

Cathyx---Your 1st ending scenario
is very funny. It's good for a laugh but not very realistic.---Your prediction of the real ending sounds pretty good. I agree
with you that Natrasha or is it now Natasha will turn the crazy painter into the police. The rest of your real ending is possible also. But I think before any of that will happen, I agree with Alegria that Maricruz will get hurt by the mean girls.

You guys know how I am always saying that I CAN'T WAIT---Well I'm not so sure. I mean that I have mixed feelings about tonight.
I don't want to see Marycruz get hurt. That won't be an enjoyable episode. But if it does, I will try to focus on some of the positive points as I'm sure that there will be some
the gringo

Thanks Bluejean,

I read your comment and just didn't get around to responding to it last night. I'm so glad that you are enjoying this show as much as gringo and vida2 (whom I don't think we've her and from for this episode). Sorry (well, maybe just a little) about your Longhorns... if they're not playing against Baylor, I always root for them. I graduated from UTMB so that makes me something of a Longhorn myself. I'm guessing the CC stands for Corpus Christi.

gringo,

"I will be willing to chip in a little to help you out this one time."

Wow, so you'll be doing part of the recap that Friday? Just click on the anvil and send your part of the recap to the Email address you find there. Thanks. Anyone else is welcome to volunteer to chip in... Seriously.

Carlos

By the way, I won't name names, but there are several regulars that we haven't heard from this time... you know who you are... I hope you guys are safe and warm and join us here for that last episode.

Carlos

Carlos,
Finally caught up with the recaps. This recap is on point as usual (is the secret drinking tequila while watching??) :)

Loved the reference to the tequila in the beginning. I thought we saw the last of Maria many epi's ago.

No weeping for JA coming from me...to be honest,I think he deserves worse.

Lupita did not get any (zero, zilch) bit of intelligence from her parents. I give that credit MC Dad or maybe the old SuperMari.

All the jail nonsense: seriously the place sounds like high school.

Favorite captions: this little light of mine and reference to 50 shades of gray.

You are too funny! I am glad that you will be the one recapping the final episode! My expectations will be high.

and just to clarify...i have high expectations for your recap...unfortunately not the show :)

Thanks CeCe,

"...is the secret drinking tequila while watching??"

Yes, before, during, and after... actually.

"My expectations will be high."

Yikes!

"...and just to clarify...i have high expectations for your recap..."

Double yikes!

Carlos

Carlos, Carlos, Carlos.....What a joy you give me with your funny captions. I love especially quote from Camelot-what do the simple folks do....
A few weeks ago, I cited that if there were ever bad writings,(style wise) E.L.James 'Fifty Shades is one of them yet made a fortune and so are series of tns including CI., and lo and behold you had MC reading Fifty Shades. a product of bad writer reading a badly written one(*of course I don't mean the porn) Hilarious!!!!
Naima, your eval of MC's revenge was spot on, I too, commented the same as I was noticing that everybody in this tn was blaming MC for their misfortune.
And members of the CICC, I rest my case.
