Mentir Para Vivir #46 Tue 12/10/13 The Dog was Found Near the Frog, but Then the Rabbit Died

Casa Bonita Hotel: At the bar by the pool, Manolo asks Lucina if Raquel had a part in the cover up. Yeah, she had a small part. Lucina tells him to look for something to get them out of this mess. Manolo tells Lucina to get a lawyer; falsifying passports is a big time crime. Manolo might know how to help Oriana, but Lucina will have to tell him everything that she knows. Good luck with that Manny!

Aresti Mansion: Leonardo, the guy who found Tito, pulls up into the driveway and introduces himself to the Martin, the doorkeeper. Martin tells Leonardo to beat it. Paloma is sick and she's not receiving guests. Leonardo asks if Paloma has a mutt and describes Tito. The doorkeeper says, yeah, but Tito moved out a while back. Just then, Fabiola comes boppin' out and spots the hottie at the front gate. She immediately, begins to undress him with her eyes and so do I. Leonardo inhales deeply, he instantaneously feels the electricity between us them. Anyways, hottie tells Fabiola that Tito has a broken leg and he's been hit in the head. After speaking to the stranger for all of thirty seconds, once again, Fabiola displays her "good judgement" with men by hopping into the SUV with Ted Bundy. Her excuse is to accompany him to the veterinarian's office to check on Tito, of course. Luckily, for her, suspicious Martin decides to act as chaperon. Martin tells Jorge to take down Leonardo's license plate and then he jumps in the back seat with Neron, the man-eating doberman.

Veterinarian's Office: Lying on a cold metal examination table, Tito whines pitifully as Fabiola scatches his ear and learns of his near mortal injuries from the doctor. His right leg and ribs are broken and bandaged. Tito has a pin in his leg. Upon realizing that Tito is a wealthy mutt, the doctor decides to rack up the charges, by performing more unnecessary tests and procedures. He might even have to amputate, depending on the profit margin. Leonardo cuts the vet off when Fabiola protests. The doctor tells Fabiola that Tito shouldn't go home to a little girl. Children can be rough during healing and if Tito recuperates at home, the vet won't earn record breaking revenue. On the ride home, Fabiola wants to know who and why someone would have drop-kicked Tito and left him to die. Leonardo tells Fabiola not to tell the little girl anything until Tito is completely out of danger. Fabioloa tells Hottie that the dog belongs to Inez. Small world, Leonardo knows Inez.

Aresti Mansion: Paloma is on the phone with her cardiologist. She wants to go on a road trip with her granddaughter and great granddaughter. The doctor will allow it as long as she takes along Luisa, the nurse. Fabiola runs in and tells Paloma that Tito is alive! A stranger found him half-dead in the park and took him to a vet.

Gilded Cage: While Jose Luis is sitting at his desk and drumming his fingers, Oriana enters his office. She wants to know how he could have been so cruel. Jose Luis says he got angry and just snapped. Oriana is afraid that he might snap with her or Rhodalina one day. Oriana tells him that he should speak with Mariano, the priest. Jose Luis says that the only person who can help him is Oriana. Oriana doesn't want to talk to him and she's tired of helping him. Of course she's tired of him now that he's had the charges dropped against her in Columbia and has eliminated Berto. He feels so used, he says.

Later, during story time with her mother, Rhodalina sits silently on her bed plotting vengeance against her father. Tito was her friend, he had no right to punt him across the room. Oriana is comforting her daughter when Paloma calls to report that Tito is alive and well, but the vet still has to rack up charges and won't release him. It's not everyday that he gets a sloppy rich dog in his care. Once Tito is discharged, he will stay with Fedelia at the beach house. Oriana tells her daughter that God performs miracles. Rhodalina thinks it was a bad miracle when her father reappeared because he killed Tito.

Sucker Textile Mill: Antonio hands Mr. Trejo the Articles of Incorporation for his review.  Trejo wants his lawyers to take a look at the paperwork. Mr. Trejo is thinks the 60% of the company is way to much for him to give up. Jose Luis says that The Caribean Investment Company is investing a lot of capital in the Bonfil Trejo and deserve a large ROI. Mr. Trejo says that Aresti Breton became successful by working with local artisans. Antonio says that they could undercut Aresti Breton profits by approaching the tribe chiefs and having the chiefs make the artisans only do business with Bonfil Trejo. Jose Luis says that he wants the paperwork signed tomorrow. Mr. Trejo agrees.

After the meeting, Jose Luis burns his finger, while Antonio slams beer at an outside cafe. Apparently, the smell of cooking flesh is not appealing to the other non cannibalistic restaurant patrons who have placed a wide distance between themselves and the evil duo. Antonio tells Jose Luis that Mr. Trejo will never go for a money laundering operation. Jose Luis agrees. That's why he wants people in the Accounting Department. Piero angrily approaches Antonio and tells him that he and Ricky both took a paternity test. Neither of them are Sebastian's father. Piero calls Antonio a coward and a traitor. Jose Luis congratulates Antonio on learning that he is Sebastian's father.

Aresti Mansion: Fabiola wants to move to the beach with Paloma. Fabiola doesn't want to move with Matilde. Paloma tells her that she can stay with her for as long as she wants.

A while later, Ricardo is sitting with Paloma and tells her that Fedelia is thrilled to have her arch enemy's aunt, niece and great-niece vacationing in her beach home. Good, says Paloma. Perhaps she can accommodate Fabiola as well. Oh, she will love that too, says Ricky. After Matilde stole Ruben away from her, Fedelia almost died of shame and became an agoraphobic. It took years of psychiatric help for her to even venture out on the porch. She lost contact with all her friends and refused to eat. She will be so thrilled to learn that the daughter of the woman who stole her only love is staying at her beach house. What are the odds that she might regress?  You all will have so much to talk about.

Ricky giddily calls Oriana to share their plans for her life with her. While shes is talking, Jose Luis comes home. She pretends to be talking to Paloma, but Jose Luis wants to check the cell phone. He believes that she is talking to Ricky. Rather than giving him the phone, she throws it on the floor and breaks it. This only proves to him that she is talking to Ricky. They begin to argue, but stop when that notice Rhodalina crying at the door. Rhodalina runs to her room and jumps in her bed. She yells at her father for killing her friend Tito. He offers to buy her some toys, clothes, tap shoes (with crescent shaped heels) and another puppy. He asks what he can do to make her forgive him. She tells her mother that she wants to move in with her grandmother. Yeah, good luck with that.

After unsuccessfully trying to reach Oriana by phone, Ricky visits Fabiola and asks for Leonardo's contact information. He wants to know where Leonardo found Tito. Martin describes Jose Luis' truck to Ricky. Fabiola hands Ricky Leonardo's business card.

Old Folks Home: Leonardo is playing chess with his grandfather when he receives a call from Fabiola. She gives the phone to Ricky. Ricky wants to know where Tito was found so that he can get Ines' address. Leonardo says that he found Tito in Frog Park. The grandfather and grandson find it odd that Paloma doesn't know her granddaughter's address. The grandfather wants to hear more gossip about the Aresti's and Breton's.

Aresti Mansion: Paloma and Ricky discuss strategy for getting Oriana away from Jose Luis. Paloma calls Jose Luis and asks to speak to Oriana. Jose Luis says that Oriana is in the bed. Paloma wants Inez to attend the emergency shareholder's meeting at Aresti Breton tomorrow at 11. Ines is Paloma's representative and her heart problems make it impossible for her to attend. Jose says that he will pass on the message, but Paloma doubts it. Meanwhile, in another part of the mansion, Fabiola learns that the rabbit has died. She must tell Sebastian.

Castro Mansion: Jorge recognizes Inez' car and has discovered Oriana's home. Ricky orders Jorge to risk his life by walking up to a mobster's home and knocking on the mobster's door and asking for a mobster's wife. There's an extra thousand bucks in it for him, if he lives.  Anyways, tell Ines' that there is a board meeting at 11 tomorrow.

Inside of the home, Ines' hears the servants debating on whether or not they should tell her about the board meeting. She makes them give her the message and then orders them back to work. Ines asks for her husband, but is told that he is gone. She runs to use the house phone but discovers that the lines have been cut. She goes into Jose Luis' office, hacks into his computer and prints out documents. The pass word is Rhodalina.

Back at Aresti Mansion, Ricky and Paloma discuss the faux board meeting. Ricky tells Paulina to put together an emergency board meeting. Lila, Matilde, Sebastian et al are invited to attend. They hope that Ines will show up.

Jose Luis wants to hire Sebastian at Bonfil Trejo. Antonio says that Sebastian is unreliable. He's drinks, does drugs and parties all of the time. He's dumb. He dropped out of college. Jose Luis wants to hire him in the shipping department. He can be trusted to route the receipts directly to Antonio. Antonio thinks that they should try to get help from Joaquin, but Jose Luis says that Joaquin is pissed right now. He won't help. Antonio knows that Jose Luis only wants to hire Sebastian to bug Ricky.

Blue Berry Hill: Piero tells Ricky that he found Antonio hanging with Jose Luis. Ricky tells Piero that Jose Luis has practically kidnapped Oriana. Oh, yeah, Celio is healing well.

San Carlos: Manolo receives a fax from his cousin, Carmelo. The ballistics report shows that the same gun killed Berto and Gabriel. Manolo is happy. This proves that the crimes were related and that Oriana is innocent. They agree that Ricky didn't put a hit on his father. They have to find the third party.

ANTAGONISTA SIGHTING!!!!!  Don't Blink or You'll Miss Her: Lucina is lying in bed with a headache. Lucina tells Raquel that she is terrified that Manolo will bust her out to the feds. Raquel goes off. She threatens to give up Oriana if Manolo will let her go. Lucina tells Raquel not to mess with her. Raquel storms out.

Sebastians' Love Shack: Fabiola tells Sebastian that he's gonna be a daddy. He calls her a tramp and says that it's could be any body's baby. He never loved her. She was just a roll in the hay, he says.

Cynderella -- What a great title and thorough recap!

Sooo disappointing that Fabiola is pregnant. Expected, but disappointing, especially since she has met someone nice.

How on earth did Matilde raise such thoughtful, sweet children?

One more thing -- you are so right about the craziness of Fabiola hopping in the car with Leonardo! What was that about? Perfect illustration of how Madilde's overprotective childrearing has negatively affected Fabiola's judgment regarding men. It does seem in this case that Mr. Hottie is a good guy, something lucky for Fabiola.

Not only was it a good thing that hottie is a good person, but that Paloma's staff is on the ball. Loved that one of them went with Fabi while the other took the plates down. I wonder if his grandpa could end up being a love connection for Paloma?

I thought Lina made some excellent points when she was explaining her pain to JL. Tito was her friend, not a toy. He listened to her, and they understood each other. He cannot be replaced with things or another dog. Then Ori told him to let Lina process her grief, and he still continued to push the shopping and new dog after all that. What an emotionally tone deaf jerk.

Sebas continues his slide to the dark side. Poor Fabi. If he does work for JL, I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up making an attempt on Rick's life on JL's behalf.

I forgot to thank you, Cyn. I also like the title. :)

Has anyone else noticed the new bumpers before and after commercials with brief future scenes? I saw glimpses of two disturbing things so far, and one good thing. I won't mention the two bad things, in case no one else has noticed them, and it seems like they're giving us spoilers. But the one good one shows Rick and Alina playing. They're on the grass, playing airplane (he's using his legs to make her fly), and they're laughing and giving each other kisses. This obviously bodes well for something we've all noticed-- the fracture in Rick and Alina's relationship, and him not being very paternal/nurturing with her.

I saw the "bumpers", Vivi. How are they spoilers, if they were aired?

OK, I am going to have to side with Reality on Fabiola. How is it Matilde's fault that Fabiola will jump in the car with any strangers. After a while "some things" have to become her fault. Fabiola had the hotsies for Leonardo, that's why she jumped in the car with him. Her hormones were popping. It had nothing to do with her rearing.

In my opinion, an over protected mother would have drilled into their kids, the dangers of strangers. That chick was just awestruck by his beauty.

Ah Cynderella Novia de Victor Hugo Cabrera, my partner in wacko humor!

EXCELLENT, amiga. :))

Pregnant. I was hoping against hope that this would not be a story line, but now it is and all we can do is watch it unfold. As painful as it was for Fabiola, she needed to hear and see the kind of person that Sabenada really is. She is a good kid, but this is one of those life altering moments. I only hope she doesn't do anything stupid.

Vivi in DC, I, too, saw those interesting "avances". I don't want to say anything so that it is not a spoiler. It disappointed me to see the little snippets, but I think they will all work out in the end. I don't like to sound so vague, but I don't want to be the bearer of bad gifts in the form of a spoiler.

When Mr. Trejo Bonfil was having his convo with Snake Eyes Antonio and the Snake Oil JL, Mr. Trejo mentioned something about his clients. Was he saying he did not want to lose his ties to them? It seemed like JL was pretty dismissive of his concerns, but I would like to be clear on Mr. Trejo's concerns. If one if you could enlighten me, please?

My precious little Tito El Bambino was the perfect little actor last night. Your take on the veterinarian's motives, Cynderella was HILARIOUS!!

It is getting harder and harder for Oriana to escape from JL. His penchant for making bad choices is escalating. JL is a time bomb waiting to go off.

Agree with Vivi in DC that JL is going to perfectly manipulate Sabenada into killing Ric.

Just saw Cynderella's comments. Is it ok to talk about the "bumper" scenes?

Fatima

I decided to delete my follow-up comment on the bumpers, because I do feel they are spoilers.

Vivi, if everyone had the opportunity to see them, I don't think of them as spoilers. You should have left them.

Fatima, I forgot what was said during the client conversation. Hopefully, someone else will fill in.

Thanks, Cynderella NdVHC!

I noticed in the previews for the new Jaime Camil TN that one of the characters is carrying around a little Tito type of dog, but alas, it is not our Tito El Bambino.

I agree with Rhodalina Penmark. Tito IS a little person. :)

Fatima

Thanks for the recap Cyn. I'm not sure I will get to see this episode and your detailed recap is appreciated.

Vivi-I saw one of the bumpers you're talking about and I consider them spoilers. I don't like it when the producers do this. I guess they are trying to pique interest, but I really hate spoilers.

Thanks, Cyn.

When a parent locks up her teen children and tries to control them to the degree that Mathilde has, they're bound to rebel in dangerous ways. When they're not taught how to exercise judgement because the helicopter parents make all the decisions and dictate their lives they never learn how to be adults. The possible consequences are dire, as we see now with Fabiola.

The worst-case scenario is that the "children" don't get to have their own lives and will be the slaves of the parents later on. I wonder whether Mathilde has that in mind.

Tito is better off staying at the vet's until he's healed. He shouldn't be returned to Oriana and Alina until JL is out of their lives.

Thanks Cynderella, the dog lived but the rabbit died. Haha.

I saw the spoilers too, and I didn't understand how what I saw could end up happening, but I'm not giving it away either.

Everyone already said what I would say so I won't repeat. What will Antonio do next? If he approaches Sebastian about working at Fermi, then they will probably discuss Seb's paternity.

Cynderella - Great recap. Loved your snark on Fabiola hopping in the SUV with Ted Bundy and agoraphobic Fidelia being just delighed to hang out with the family that could've been hers and Ruben's.

If I'm remembering correctly, Piero speculated to Ricky awhile back that Oriana would only get one year tops if they went to the police. At this point, with JL trying to keep her on lock-down, I might consider it.

Fabiola going to her boyfriend-rapist about her pregnancy is strange. What did she expect? Telling Oriana, or Piero, or even Ricky, I would've understood.

I saw the new bumpers too. No idea what will happen, but I'm thinking at least Ricky will have a reasoned strategy for every move he makes.

Thanks Niecie,

Paloma mentioned that the Matilde/Ruben/Fedelia triangle happened so long ago, that no one remembers. I disagree.

About 10 years ago, I worked in the fundraising department at a hospital. One of the donors was the widow of a WORLD famous children's author. Trust me, we have all read the books. Anyway, I just thought she was a sweet old woman. Not so said the other old donor bitties who shunned her. They kept their husbands close to them when she was around. During cocktail hour, I learned that she had stolen the world author from his first wife and children and the first wife committed suicide. So, no....people don't forget!

Excellent recap!

Poor Fabiola has NO self-protective instincts. She hops in the car with a stranger, she goes back to the devil's lair to tell him she's pregnant. Not sure what she thought was going to happen there. Usually I hate it when telenovela characters hide their pregnancies from the fathers, but Sebas is such a mequetrefe, I don't see why Fabiola should ever speak to him at all about anything, baby or not.

I hope Leonardo will kindly help Fabi to develop some armor and street smarts. He almost seems too good to be true: he loves animals, he rescues in the park, he plays chess with grandpa, he doesn't have a novia. I love his gossipy grandpa, too.

Can't believe JL's password was "Alina". He is so not cut out for the shady life of crime.

What do you think Oriana was copying from JL's computer?

Docs or emails that implicate him to the mob, I hope.

What a prize recap! Cynderella you really know how to tell it like it is, albeit in an entertaining way. I really enjoyed the humorous way you described the scenes with my 2 favorites, Rhodalina and Tito. Say what you want, I love this little 6 yr old grown woman.

There's too many favorite lines to even think about quoting but that entire scene in the vets office takes the prize.

I have never heard the word "bumper" used in this context before. Could someone expound on the difference between a bumper and the other advances & "attractions". I did see the scene with Rick and Lina playing and I would have been naïve enough to comment that it looks like the 2 are going to make up. Now it looks as though I would have been mentioning a spoiler??
Not only that, certain things are so predictable in novelas until those 2 getting back together is almost a no brainer. Just saying because this is something I could have unknowingly easily spoiled.

Foxy- An advance happens at the end of the episode, showing us an extended preview of what's going to happen in the next episode. A bumper is what we see just before we go into or come out of commercial. Sometimes they are just snippets from the opening sequence with one or two characters, and sometimes they are snippets of scenes we have already seen. Lately, they are showing scenes of things to come in those bumpers. I mentioned the Lina and Ricky thing, because that's a nice positive development that doesn't really affect anything. But the other two things they showed are MAJOR, and negative plot developments and I can't believe the producer decided to show them up front like that. But as someone mentioned, it probably did serve as a good incentive for people to keep watching to see when and how these events would happen.

If Uni showed it during the run of the show they're not spoilers IMHO.

Julia, yes, that's exactly what Fabiola lacks, a sense of self-preservation. Mequetrefe means loser, no?

Cyndy, you're a gem. The snark is so seamless I don't know sometimes when it's snark or what really happened aince I don't watch the caps until Saturday night. The vet being greedy and Fabiola rolling off with Ted Bundy certainly had me ROFL.

Thanks Vivi, although I understand your explanation, I must admit that I'm not following the "spoiler" logic since they were aired.

By the way, I recall a novela not too long ago where they had something in a snipit that was never shown in the novela. What are the chances of the 2 other spoilers being misleading, in other words, a "tease" so to speak?

Cynderella,
You got the trip to the vet down pat, that's exactly what they do.

Pobre perrito.

My kitty is my little person, smart too, she understands my Spanish just as well as my English.

Mis gatos tambien.

Thank you for the great laughs, Cynderella. Ted Bundy - LOL!

So Oriana and Alina are going into hiding because they are in danger. And they are going to a super secret location with Paloma, her nurse, her niece, probably the trusted servant, maybe even Jorge for driving them around. And of course Ric, Piero, Mariano, Lucina, Marilu will know the location.
This is just too silly.

I haven't seen the spoilers this time, but a few weeks back there was this huge bumper right in the middle of teh episode - it lasted for about 2 minutes and itpractically had ALL the importangt events that have happened and that WILL happen. So, yeah, I pretty much know all the important details... probably why my interest for the tn has is considerably lower than before (that and the lack of interest in the main couple).

Wrote the first comment with my foot, apparently. So many mistakes...

Also, I really need to change my passwords... But I have so many accounts to so many different places, keeping track is just so hard!

Cynderella, you are indeed a Caray treasure. This is hilarious. I love you takes on Leonardo and the vet.

Julia,

"Can't believe JL's password was "Alina". He is so not cut out for the shady life of crime."

And I can't believe that it wasn't the first password that occurred to Oriana.

Tito is a gifted actor. He convinced me that he's injured.

Carlos

Thanks for the recap!

First, I have to chime in about the bumpers. I saw two of them. I saw the good one with Ric and Alina. As for the bad, possibly spoilerish one, I am just wondering if it really happens WHAT will cause it to take place? I'll just say it reminded me of something that happened in LFdD. But like I said who knows under what circumstances will cause it to happen if it does happen.

To those of you who watched LFMB (maybe more than once...) you might remember that at one point in the TN the opening credits were showing major spoilers but then none of those events actually took place in the end. Who knows if that'll be the same for this TN.

So it is love at first sight for Fabi and Leo? Her pregnancy might be a problem though. Clearly Seba is not going to assume any responsibility. And with the possibility of him working with JL and Tony, I don't think he will pass that up if he gets the offer.

It looked to me like Ori discovered JL's business deal with Caribbean Investment Co. JL needs to set a less conspicuous password for his computer.
--TF

Thanks everyone for you kind comments.

Cynderella

Gracias, Cynderella, for the recap!
