Mentir Para Vivir #48 Thu 12/12/13 Hablar para Aburrir
Oriana and Lina get settled in their room. Lina likes Fidelia, but not as much as she likes her Granny. She hopes God left Tito at Granny's house and Granny brings him with her when she comes to visit. Ricardo calls Oriana and she tells him the house is great and his aunt's super nice and even asked Lina to call her "Tía." When Lina finds out it's Ricardo on the phone, she wants Oriana to ask him if God brought Tito back already. Ricardo asks to speak directly to Lina and tells her that Padre Plaid, who's way closer to God than any of them, because God works out at Padre Plaid's Gym of Penance regularly, said it will be a few days, but there's no estimated arrival date. Lina gives the phone back to Oriana and Ricardo lets her know that Fabiola's been checking in with the vet, but he hasn't been to see Tito himself yet, since he doesn’t want to lead the investigator that JL has tailing him to the vet's office. As soon as Ricardo can take care of a few things, he'll go visit.
Cesar visits his aunt, who asks him to come home already, and convince his stubborn mother to stay, too. Cesar says he'll try, but he likes it where he's at and he really doesn't want to deal with his mother. Fabiola says she'll stay and she's told her mother already.
Smoochy mushy talk from Ricardo and Oriana. They postpone the good stuff until Lina isn't around to listen.
Nadia announces the arrival of Ricardo, so Paloma bids Cesar and Fabiola farewell. She asks Fabiola to escort her brother to the executioner…digo, to his mother's room, so he can talk her into staying.
At the Bar Bolo, Sebastian holds court, griping to Antonio about how Ricardo's just being nice to him to look like a good guy in front of everybody else. You mean with the not forcing you to pay back all the money you spent on booze and not taking away your last name. Yeah, what a creep, Sebastian! That's some rotten luck you have, there. Antonio offers Sebastian a job with Francisco. Sebastian realizes immediately that whatever it is isn't honest work, not that he really cares, but he wants to know what it is.
Ricardo and Paloma make plans to go visit Oriana, as soon as the lawyer gets the notary to finish up with some paperwork for Paloma to sign. If Francisco's guy is still following them, they'll just sneak out the back door of Aresti Breton like Oriana and Lina did. Tomorrow, he'll deposit the money Sebastian should be paying back to Lila for the sale of the house in Tijuana. He wants to pay Paloma back the money she paid for the shares that weren't Sebastian's, but she refuses. They review that Inés is off the hook for the money laundering in Colombia, though still a suspect in Gabriel's murder. Ricardo is convinced that the same gun that killed his father also killed Berto. Paloma wishes they had the gun, but Ricardo says they'll have to hope that the ballistic evidence is enough. As far as the identity theft, Paloma wonders if they can get Oriana out of that charge by having Paloma adopt her with Inés' name. Ricardo suggests asking a lawyer about that one. "So, what are you waiting for?!"
Matilde whines that she's not going to "humiliate" herself in front of her aunt because she's already done it for years and she's tired of it. If Paloma doesn't want her to leave, as Fabiola says, then Matilde wants Paloma to ask her herself. Fabiola takes a call from Piero and leaves the room to talk to him. Matilde is suspicious about why Piero would be calling Fabiola. Cesar just rolls his eyes and reminds her they were talking about something else.
Fabiola explains to Piero that she was talking to her mom, which is why she sounds nervous. He wants to get together so they can talk. He's worried about her. Fabiola says she'll call him later and let him know. Piero wonders to himself QTH he's doing. You're not alone, Piero. We're all wondering QTH you're doing. We also have our suspicious and are a little skeeved. Just saying.
Cesar emerges from Matilde's dungeon to tell Fabiola that now she's trying to blackmail him by telling him that she'll stay if he comes back to the house. In a bizarre bit of editing tomfoolery, Cesar and Fabiola now have the EXACT SAME conversation that ended last night's episode. Cesar doesn't want to move home and deal with his mom, Fabiola tells him she's pregnant, he asks if it's Piero's baby, and Fabiola just hugs him.
Antonio explains the job is money laundering and Sebastian asks if it's dangerous. I bet the answer he was looking for was "yes." He's turned on to hear that the people he'd be working for have more money than Ricardo or Paloma…and that they're going to be exporting fabrics, making them Ricardo's rivals.
Ricardo calls Manolo and asks about the ballistics report. Manolo says the same gun killed Berto and his father, but they have to follow procedure. They can't just declare that Oriana Caligaris is innocent yet…and it would sure help if they could tell him where to find her. Ricardo claims not to know. Carmelo gets a report from one of his underlings. Francisco Castro bought a house, so now they have an idea of where to find him, but they still haven't found Berto's killer.
Cesar visits Padre Plaid at the Holy Gym to tell him that Fabiola's pregnant with Piero's baby. *headdesk*
Inés and Marilu have a little walk in their high heels, down the stone steps of the back patio, down to the pool area. Yeah, I know when I'm just hanging around with my girlfriends on vacation and we decide to go chat by the pool, we always wear the highest heels possible. Cause nothing says "vacation" like tired feet. Inés is grateful to Fidelia for treating her and Lina like royalty. Marilu says they are important, because Ricardo loves her, so if they're important to Ricardo, that makes them important to Fidelia. Marilu mentions that Ricardo is her distant cousin and yeah, she loves him, but she thinks Inés is kinda awesome, so she'd really like Inés not to leave Ricardo. She even knows that Inés is really Oriana, but that only makes her think even more highly of her. She would have done the same thing in her place. Marilu is grateful for what Inés has done for Ricardo. All she wants is for him to be happy, so she wants Inés to reconsider getting back together with him. That was bizarre. And I don’t just mean because of the shoes. Marilu is "the ex"…she's supposed to be mean and conniving and doing everything in her power to get Ricardo back. She's supposed to SAY she loves him, but really just be obsessed with having him as a trophy. I keep waiting for her to throw somebody a mean look behind their back or thought bubble something dastardly, but it's not happening. Freaky!
Marilu and Inés watch Lina playing on the beach. Inés doesn't have her hair straightened and it's lovely. She calls Fabiola to get an update on Paloma and Tito. Fabiola says she'll call Leonardo and then call her back.
Fabiola calls Leonardo who already knows that she's only calling to ask about Tito. That's right, Leonardo, the ladies love them some Tito. You're just the wingman. Tito's getting out of his casts soon and the vet thinks he'll be ready to go home in about a week. Fabiola says that's too bad, she was hoping to take Tito to see his partner-in-crime Lina at the beach. She sends Leonardo kisses and says he's an angel, then mocks herself for doing it as soon as she gets off the phone. She then calls Inés to tell her that Tito's doing well, but not ready to come home yet. Inés says that's too bad, but she hopes they'll come soon. When she gets off the phone Marilu asks why her husband is so violent. "I don't know. I think he's sick." Off the top of my head, I'd say Narcissistic Personality Disorder, but I haven't pulled out the DSM to check.
Francisco pulls the hankie-wrapped gun and a picture of him with Oriana and Lina out of his safe. His butler announces the arrival of a cop and Francisco says he'll be right there. Francisco goes out to talk to Carmelo, who tells him that Berto was killed a few days ago. Fernando says he met him when they were both staying at Casa Bonito, but no, he didn't know about it because he usually only reads the financial section of the paper. Carmelo says that according to the porter at the hotel, it was Francisco's employee, Eliseo, who killed Berto. Francisco recycles the story about Eliseo being his taxi driver when he first got to town and how he offered him a job, but just because he felt bad for him. He was just doing odd jobs for him…bringing in the paper, putting gas in the cars, that sort of thing…and Francisco ended up firing him. He doesn't know where he's at now or even what Eliseo's last name is. Carmelo asks what exactly Francisco does to be able to afford this nice house. Francisco says he's working for Caribbean Investments Company, headquartered in Santo Domingo. "And do you live alone?" Francisco laughingly says he doesn't really have any reason to answer questions about his personal life and he's already answered the questions about the person who killed Berto. Carmelo agrees and takes his leave, telling Francisco that people who come to invest in this country are always welcome.
Francisco gets a call from Antonio to tell him that the lawyers have gone over the papers and Trejo Bonfil is nearly ready to sign. As soon as Antonio brings the signed papers to Francisco's hotel suite, Francisco will send them on to Joaquin. He's not going to sign them himself. Antonio also tells him that Sebastian is willing to work with them, but Francisco isn't ready to talk about that just yet. Francisco then calls Joaquin to tell him Trejo Bonfil is going to sign the papers within days and he'll send him the paperwork as soon as it's signed. "But I'm not going to be a part of this." Joaquin reminds him that they had agreed that Francisco would sign on behalf of CIC as "President" of the new partnership. Francisco refuses, saying that he only promised Joaquin that he would get him a company and then Joaquin would pay him and he'd be out of "the business." Joaquin tells him he's taking advantage. Francisco insists he's done his job, he wants out, and Joaquin had better not send an assassin after him because he'll be ready. Joaquin says that Francisco still owes him a favor for getting his wife off the hook with the Colombian authorities. Francisco insists he'll pay him back another way. Joaquin laughs and hands the phone off to Luis Gatica…Luis Gatica!...so he can hold it up while Joaquin plays the drums. "Are you dancing, Fox?" The people in the office with Joaquin start awkwardly busting a move. "Are you dancing, Fox?" Francisco looks freaked out.
Ricardo and Piero go to visit Maria. Piero asks if it wouldn't be better for everyone, Maria included, if she died. He thinks her life has been miserable. Ricardo can't think of her so coldly, since he thought she was the mother of his child. Piero thinks Ricardo has done a lot for her and he shouldn't feel bad. Ricardo just remembers how she was so sweet and innocent. Piero sounds like he's about to reminisce about "that night" (really, Piero?) but Ricardo cuts him off and says he can't believe Antonio would be so inconsiderate toward her. Piero says he'll end up paying for it. He's been wondering if maybe Sebastian isn't Antonio's either. Maybe she slept with someone else. Ricardo doesn't think so. The doctor comes running out to the lawn where Ricardo and Piero have been talking. He found a tumor in Maria's brain. Turns out, the seizures were due to that and not due to her epilepsy. He's going to run more tests and see if it's operable. He asks Ricardo about what he's read in the papers…that Sebastian's not his son…the Sebastian is his son and that's why he's still a Sanchez Breton…. Gossip much, doc? Ricardo says that the doc knows the truth, but no one else needs to. The doc thinks that Ricardo should let Maria's father know what's going on with her.
Matilde pleadingly tells Paloma that she doesn't want to leave her alone, especially now that Inés isn't around. "So stay!" Matilde cries and whines that Paloma treats her badly and criticizes everything she does. Paloma says she only points out when Matilde is being an overbearing shrew and not letting her kids live their own lives. Matilde tries to take credit for how well the kids turned out, but Paloma shuts her down, saying Matilde only taught Fabiola to be submissive and she'll probably run off with the first guy who talks to her sweetly because she's starved for affection. Matilde cries that she loves her daughter. "Then maybe you could try showing it by listening to her every once in a while so she'll confide in you instead of being terrified of you! And while you're at it, try letting Cesar live his own life! And please quit crying already." Matilde cries that when Paloma puts it that way, it sounds like she's been a monster. "Well, you have been!" Paloma tells her to drop all this nonsense about leaving. "The kids aren't going with you. What are you going to do all by yourself? If you care about your kids as much as you say, then you'll stay here to be with them." Matilde says she'll stay on one condition, but Paloma doesn't want to hear any conditions. She does want to let Matilde know that she gets to keep the shares that were Sebastian's. All is right in Matilde's world now…until Paloma tells her she's taking Fabiola on vacation. She won't tell Matilde where they're going, saying she hasn't decided yet.
Piero and Ricardo go visit Benigno's hovel. Ricardo has to interrupt Benigno's ranting about how it's BS that Ricardo isn't Sebastian's father and he must have paid off the doctors and blah, blah, blah to tell him that Maria has a brain tumor. Benigno immediately worries about what's going to happen to his stank-ass self if she dies. Even his…whatever she is…tells him not to talk that way about his daughter, but Benigno says it's not like he even LIKES her…who wants a daughter who's a whore just like her mother. Oh, Benigno, there's a special place in hell reserved just for you. Mrs. Classy tells him to shut it and then warns Ricardo that he'd better not think that if Maria dies he can stop making payments to the man who "took care of her" for all those years. I'm not sure she understands the definition of "take care of." Ricardo, disgusted, tells them what hospital Maria is at and says he only came to tell Benigno because they need Benigno's permission for the surgery. Ricardo and Piero leave and Mrs. Classy smacks Benigno around, telling him if the girl dies they're not going to be able to keep getting money out of Ricardo. And why, exactly, is Benigno getting any money out of him at this point?
Outside the house, Piero asks Ricardo if maybe Maria isn't Benigno's daughter. Ricardo says they'd have to find a copy of her birth certificate to find out. Piero has been reading the recaps and comments and asks if maybe Benigno raped her and Sebastian is Benigno's child. He takes a call from Padre Plaid, who wants to talk to him IN PERSON about Fabiola. Piero tells Ricardo, who asks "What's going on between you and Fabiola?" Piero says there isn't anything.
Francisco pours Antonio a drink and wonders if maybe they should get Sebastian to be president of the company. "Are you kidding? He never even finished high school!" Francisco says that will make it easier for Antonio to control him. "I think you just want to wash your hands of this whole thing. And where does that leave me?" Francisco says he's going to make a lot of money. As soon as the papers are signed, CIC is going to make the first investment via electronic transfer. It's all legal. Then they'll send the merchandise and be paid in triplicate, easy. Antonio says it sounds easy, but if things go wrong, Sebastian will be the first one to go down. Francisco doesn't care. He wants to bring down Ricardo. "Because of Inés?" Francisco warns Antonio that he doesn't like personal questions. He asks if Antonio has a problem with this because Sebastian is his son. Antonio insists that even if he were, he doesn’t care. Francisco takes a call from Raquel, who tells him that Oriana's car is still in the parking lot. He says he'll call her later. Antonio smirks that Francisco's got a "movida" (lover, girlfriend, someone you're "putting the moves" on). Francisco ignores that and asks Antonio about the ways in and out of Aresti Breton. Antonio tells him about the back way out, where the trucks load and unload. As he's shooing him out, Francisco asks Antonio what street that back exit leads to.
Lucina talks to Manolo about the gun she found on Berto's body. Manolo says he can't do much with it since it's covered in fingerprints. And the ones he can't match to Lucina and Raquel still don't get him anywhere without having Oriana and Lina's fingerprints to compare them to. Lucina gripes that she can't exactly take Oriana and Lina to him to be fingerprinted. Manolo says this isn't the right gun, anyway. It's a .22 and the gun that killed Gabriel and Berto is a .44. Lucina insists that the guy who killed them both must be the guy that Felipe identified. The guy who works for Francisco Castro. Raquel has been listening at the door and looks worried when she hears this.
Manolo and Carmelo talk about the Francisco Castro connection. Carmelo says he visited the guy today. Nice house, looks like he makes a lot of money, says he works for a foreign investment company. Manolo encourages him to investigate, but Carmelo refuses. "Maybe they're smugglers, drug dealers, money launderers…that's not my area." Manolo says murder sure is, "And I just happen to have an unsolved murder that seems to be connected to yours, and both guys appear to have been shot with the same gun, so if you won't investigate, then I will!" Carmelo accuses him of trying to look good for Lucina. Manolo angrily insists that what he wants is to get to the truth. He slams the phone down and screams at someone to turn on the a/c. A guy pokes his head in the door to say "the a/c's busted, boss," before getting the hell out of there.
Piero is shocked to hear that he knocked up Fabiola. "She said it herself…or at least she insinuated it to her brother." Ay, Padre! Those are two different things. Piero says if Fabiola said it, then it's true. Padre Plaid reminds Piero that Fabiola's not 18 yet which means he's going to jail. "Fine, then, it wasn't me. It was Sebastian. But if she wants me to be responsible, then I'll support her. I know I'm old enough to be her father, but I like her and if that's what she wants, then I'll accept it." Padre Plaid says they've got to see what her family thinks. Piero scoffs at that. "They're not going to say anything if it means covering up their daughter's mistake." He scornfully says that Padre Plaid knows what kind of family they are. "What's more, when Fabiola told me, she threatened to kill herself." Padre Plaid asks if Piero is actually willing to marry someone young enough to be his daughter and who's pregnant with someone else's child. Piero says she may be young enough to be his daughter, but she isn't, and besides…he thinks he's in love with her. "Does she love you too or is she just looking for a way out of her problem?"
Leonardo's grandpa asks if he likes Fabiola. He reminds him what kind of family she comes from. Leonardo says he's not a nobody. "You don't have a job." Leonardo says he's a painter. "And painters starve to death!" Leonardo says it's not like that anymore. In fact, he's been offered a chance to exhibit at the art institute in Hermosillo. Grandpa says that doesn't mean anything. Painters don't even mature until 40 or 50…and in the meantime, how does Leo think he's going to support a wife? And what about kids? "Hey, I've got a rich grandpa, right?" Ha, ha. Leo reminds grandpa that back when he decided not to work for his dad's fabric company, grandpa supported him. "Well, yeah, I never really liked your dad. And besides, I needed someone to play chess with. Hey, have you heard that your godfather Trejo Bonfil is broke? He's getting ready to partner up with a foreign company." Leo says it's been years since he saw him, but he's a good person. "Yeah, but he's always been an idiot." Grandpa knows the name of the company that Trejo Bonfil is partnering with is Caribbean Invesntment Company. Leonardo is surprised that his grandfather knows so much. Grandpa admits he likes to stay informed, even though he's retired from active duty. "Call it a professional vice. So, when's your exposition of weird paintings?" Leo asks if he's actually thinking of leaving his man cave to go see his paintings. "I don't know. But I would like to meet that girl Fabiola."
The PI is still stalking Ricardo. He gets into his office and Paulina tells him that the papers are still gossiping about him. He asks her to get Paloma, Lila, and Matilde there at 6 to sign some papers. In his office, he calls Oriana and tells her they're going to finish dealing with his father's estate later, even though he doubts Sebastian will show up. He wanted to let her know that he and Paloma are leaving that day. They've just got to figure out how to evade the PI who's tailing him. He tells her not to worry. On cue, Cesar comes in and starts tossing Piero around, demanding to know how he could do that to his sister! Ricardo pulls Cesar off Piero as Cesar threatens to have Piero thrown in jail.

Francisco pulls the hankie-wrapped gun and a picture of him with Oriana and Lina out of his safe. His butler announces the arrival of a cop and Francisco says he'll be right there. Francisco goes out to talk to Carmelo, who tells him that Berto was killed a few days ago. Fernando says he met him when they were both staying at Casa Bonito, but no, he didn't know about it because he usually only reads the financial section of the paper. Carmelo says that according to the porter at the hotel, it was Francisco's employee, Eliseo, who killed Berto. Francisco recycles the story about Eliseo being his taxi driver when he first got to town and how he offered him a job, but just because he felt bad for him. He was just doing odd jobs for him…bringing in the paper, putting gas in the cars, that sort of thing…and Francisco ended up firing him. He doesn't know where he's at now or even what Eliseo's last name is. Carmelo asks what exactly Francisco does to be able to afford this nice house. Francisco says he's working for Caribbean Investments Company, headquartered in Santo Domingo. "And do you live alone?" Francisco laughingly says he doesn't really have any reason to answer questions about his personal life and he's already answered the questions about the person who killed Berto. Carmelo agrees and takes his leave, telling Francisco that people who come to invest in this country are always welcome.
Francisco gets a call from Antonio to tell him that the lawyers have gone over the papers and Trejo Bonfil is nearly ready to sign. As soon as Antonio brings the signed papers to Francisco's hotel suite, Francisco will send them on to Joaquin. He's not going to sign them himself. Antonio also tells him that Sebastian is willing to work with them, but Francisco isn't ready to talk about that just yet. Francisco then calls Joaquin to tell him Trejo Bonfil is going to sign the papers within days and he'll send him the paperwork as soon as it's signed. "But I'm not going to be a part of this." Joaquin reminds him that they had agreed that Francisco would sign on behalf of CIC as "President" of the new partnership. Francisco refuses, saying that he only promised Joaquin that he would get him a company and then Joaquin would pay him and he'd be out of "the business." Joaquin tells him he's taking advantage. Francisco insists he's done his job, he wants out, and Joaquin had better not send an assassin after him because he'll be ready. Joaquin says that Francisco still owes him a favor for getting his wife off the hook with the Colombian authorities. Francisco insists he'll pay him back another way. Joaquin laughs and hands the phone off to Luis Gatica…Luis Gatica!...so he can hold it up while Joaquin plays the drums. "Are you dancing, Fox?" The people in the office with Joaquin start awkwardly busting a move. "Are you dancing, Fox?" Francisco looks freaked out.
Ricardo and Piero go to visit Maria. Piero asks if it wouldn't be better for everyone, Maria included, if she died. He thinks her life has been miserable. Ricardo can't think of her so coldly, since he thought she was the mother of his child. Piero thinks Ricardo has done a lot for her and he shouldn't feel bad. Ricardo just remembers how she was so sweet and innocent. Piero sounds like he's about to reminisce about "that night" (really, Piero?) but Ricardo cuts him off and says he can't believe Antonio would be so inconsiderate toward her. Piero says he'll end up paying for it. He's been wondering if maybe Sebastian isn't Antonio's either. Maybe she slept with someone else. Ricardo doesn't think so. The doctor comes running out to the lawn where Ricardo and Piero have been talking. He found a tumor in Maria's brain. Turns out, the seizures were due to that and not due to her epilepsy. He's going to run more tests and see if it's operable. He asks Ricardo about what he's read in the papers…that Sebastian's not his son…the Sebastian is his son and that's why he's still a Sanchez Breton…. Gossip much, doc? Ricardo says that the doc knows the truth, but no one else needs to. The doc thinks that Ricardo should let Maria's father know what's going on with her.
Matilde pleadingly tells Paloma that she doesn't want to leave her alone, especially now that Inés isn't around. "So stay!" Matilde cries and whines that Paloma treats her badly and criticizes everything she does. Paloma says she only points out when Matilde is being an overbearing shrew and not letting her kids live their own lives. Matilde tries to take credit for how well the kids turned out, but Paloma shuts her down, saying Matilde only taught Fabiola to be submissive and she'll probably run off with the first guy who talks to her sweetly because she's starved for affection. Matilde cries that she loves her daughter. "Then maybe you could try showing it by listening to her every once in a while so she'll confide in you instead of being terrified of you! And while you're at it, try letting Cesar live his own life! And please quit crying already." Matilde cries that when Paloma puts it that way, it sounds like she's been a monster. "Well, you have been!" Paloma tells her to drop all this nonsense about leaving. "The kids aren't going with you. What are you going to do all by yourself? If you care about your kids as much as you say, then you'll stay here to be with them." Matilde says she'll stay on one condition, but Paloma doesn't want to hear any conditions. She does want to let Matilde know that she gets to keep the shares that were Sebastian's. All is right in Matilde's world now…until Paloma tells her she's taking Fabiola on vacation. She won't tell Matilde where they're going, saying she hasn't decided yet.
Piero and Ricardo go visit Benigno's hovel. Ricardo has to interrupt Benigno's ranting about how it's BS that Ricardo isn't Sebastian's father and he must have paid off the doctors and blah, blah, blah to tell him that Maria has a brain tumor. Benigno immediately worries about what's going to happen to his stank-ass self if she dies. Even his…whatever she is…tells him not to talk that way about his daughter, but Benigno says it's not like he even LIKES her…who wants a daughter who's a whore just like her mother. Oh, Benigno, there's a special place in hell reserved just for you. Mrs. Classy tells him to shut it and then warns Ricardo that he'd better not think that if Maria dies he can stop making payments to the man who "took care of her" for all those years. I'm not sure she understands the definition of "take care of." Ricardo, disgusted, tells them what hospital Maria is at and says he only came to tell Benigno because they need Benigno's permission for the surgery. Ricardo and Piero leave and Mrs. Classy smacks Benigno around, telling him if the girl dies they're not going to be able to keep getting money out of Ricardo. And why, exactly, is Benigno getting any money out of him at this point?
Outside the house, Piero asks Ricardo if maybe Maria isn't Benigno's daughter. Ricardo says they'd have to find a copy of her birth certificate to find out. Piero has been reading the recaps and comments and asks if maybe Benigno raped her and Sebastian is Benigno's child. He takes a call from Padre Plaid, who wants to talk to him IN PERSON about Fabiola. Piero tells Ricardo, who asks "What's going on between you and Fabiola?" Piero says there isn't anything.
Francisco pours Antonio a drink and wonders if maybe they should get Sebastian to be president of the company. "Are you kidding? He never even finished high school!" Francisco says that will make it easier for Antonio to control him. "I think you just want to wash your hands of this whole thing. And where does that leave me?" Francisco says he's going to make a lot of money. As soon as the papers are signed, CIC is going to make the first investment via electronic transfer. It's all legal. Then they'll send the merchandise and be paid in triplicate, easy. Antonio says it sounds easy, but if things go wrong, Sebastian will be the first one to go down. Francisco doesn't care. He wants to bring down Ricardo. "Because of Inés?" Francisco warns Antonio that he doesn't like personal questions. He asks if Antonio has a problem with this because Sebastian is his son. Antonio insists that even if he were, he doesn’t care. Francisco takes a call from Raquel, who tells him that Oriana's car is still in the parking lot. He says he'll call her later. Antonio smirks that Francisco's got a "movida" (lover, girlfriend, someone you're "putting the moves" on). Francisco ignores that and asks Antonio about the ways in and out of Aresti Breton. Antonio tells him about the back way out, where the trucks load and unload. As he's shooing him out, Francisco asks Antonio what street that back exit leads to.
Lucina talks to Manolo about the gun she found on Berto's body. Manolo says he can't do much with it since it's covered in fingerprints. And the ones he can't match to Lucina and Raquel still don't get him anywhere without having Oriana and Lina's fingerprints to compare them to. Lucina gripes that she can't exactly take Oriana and Lina to him to be fingerprinted. Manolo says this isn't the right gun, anyway. It's a .22 and the gun that killed Gabriel and Berto is a .44. Lucina insists that the guy who killed them both must be the guy that Felipe identified. The guy who works for Francisco Castro. Raquel has been listening at the door and looks worried when she hears this.
Manolo and Carmelo talk about the Francisco Castro connection. Carmelo says he visited the guy today. Nice house, looks like he makes a lot of money, says he works for a foreign investment company. Manolo encourages him to investigate, but Carmelo refuses. "Maybe they're smugglers, drug dealers, money launderers…that's not my area." Manolo says murder sure is, "And I just happen to have an unsolved murder that seems to be connected to yours, and both guys appear to have been shot with the same gun, so if you won't investigate, then I will!" Carmelo accuses him of trying to look good for Lucina. Manolo angrily insists that what he wants is to get to the truth. He slams the phone down and screams at someone to turn on the a/c. A guy pokes his head in the door to say "the a/c's busted, boss," before getting the hell out of there.
Piero is shocked to hear that he knocked up Fabiola. "She said it herself…or at least she insinuated it to her brother." Ay, Padre! Those are two different things. Piero says if Fabiola said it, then it's true. Padre Plaid reminds Piero that Fabiola's not 18 yet which means he's going to jail. "Fine, then, it wasn't me. It was Sebastian. But if she wants me to be responsible, then I'll support her. I know I'm old enough to be her father, but I like her and if that's what she wants, then I'll accept it." Padre Plaid says they've got to see what her family thinks. Piero scoffs at that. "They're not going to say anything if it means covering up their daughter's mistake." He scornfully says that Padre Plaid knows what kind of family they are. "What's more, when Fabiola told me, she threatened to kill herself." Padre Plaid asks if Piero is actually willing to marry someone young enough to be his daughter and who's pregnant with someone else's child. Piero says she may be young enough to be his daughter, but she isn't, and besides…he thinks he's in love with her. "Does she love you too or is she just looking for a way out of her problem?"
Leonardo's grandpa asks if he likes Fabiola. He reminds him what kind of family she comes from. Leonardo says he's not a nobody. "You don't have a job." Leonardo says he's a painter. "And painters starve to death!" Leonardo says it's not like that anymore. In fact, he's been offered a chance to exhibit at the art institute in Hermosillo. Grandpa says that doesn't mean anything. Painters don't even mature until 40 or 50…and in the meantime, how does Leo think he's going to support a wife? And what about kids? "Hey, I've got a rich grandpa, right?" Ha, ha. Leo reminds grandpa that back when he decided not to work for his dad's fabric company, grandpa supported him. "Well, yeah, I never really liked your dad. And besides, I needed someone to play chess with. Hey, have you heard that your godfather Trejo Bonfil is broke? He's getting ready to partner up with a foreign company." Leo says it's been years since he saw him, but he's a good person. "Yeah, but he's always been an idiot." Grandpa knows the name of the company that Trejo Bonfil is partnering with is Caribbean Invesntment Company. Leonardo is surprised that his grandfather knows so much. Grandpa admits he likes to stay informed, even though he's retired from active duty. "Call it a professional vice. So, when's your exposition of weird paintings?" Leo asks if he's actually thinking of leaving his man cave to go see his paintings. "I don't know. But I would like to meet that girl Fabiola."
The PI is still stalking Ricardo. He gets into his office and Paulina tells him that the papers are still gossiping about him. He asks her to get Paloma, Lila, and Matilde there at 6 to sign some papers. In his office, he calls Oriana and tells her they're going to finish dealing with his father's estate later, even though he doubts Sebastian will show up. He wanted to let her know that he and Paloma are leaving that day. They've just got to figure out how to evade the PI who's tailing him. He tells her not to worry. As soon as they get off the phone, Piero comes rushing in to tell him that Fabiola's pregnant with Sebastian's baby and she's trying to pin it on him. On cue, Cesar comes in and starts tossing Piero around, demanding to know how he could do that to his sister! Ricardo pulls Cesar off Piero as Cesar threatens to have Piero thrown in jail.
Tomorrow: JL wants Raquel to find out where Oriana is; Ricardo smacks Sebastian around; Oriana is worried about JL finding them and taking Lina; JL tells Raquel that when his job there is finished, he's taking his daughter and getting out of there.

It just keeps getting worse and worse. Leonardo was the only one who had it right--don't say anything to the kid until he makes a complete recovery! I suppose she's smart enough that she'll get it when she's older, but right now...I'm just imagining her telling her school friends about her daddy and her dog who both came back from the dead! There's going to be some fun parent-teacher conferences about that one.

Age differences always seem smaller the older people get. 15 and 20 sounds like "What would they have in common?" But 30 and 35 sounds reasonable. To me anyway.

Last night I did see the censors at work when Raquel turned over in bed with JL. Vivi, thanks for yesterday's alert. That was strange, cause surely Altair was wearing underwear beneath the sheets in taping that scene. On second thought, this time the censors made the scene even sexier. So Piero confesses that he may love Fabiola. I really hate it when they have a character be in love with another after only 2 meetings. In real life even flighty teens don't fall in love after 2 meetings. I would have thought better of this show that they wouldn't do the typical.
Fabiola is a sweet girl but has the development of maybe 15, not 17. So this makes Piero's feelings for her even creepier to me.

Gracias, Cynderella! Lol...Piero lusting after Fabiola from afar for years would only make it more skeevy. I think he's feeling major guilt about Maria that's catching up to him and he's trying to wipe out his karmic debt or something.
Haha Cynderella, I always read your recaps. I know you talked about charging the rich people more by extending Tito's stay, but you were kidding and he's a professional and I doubt he would do that. But still, it makes no sense. The only way they do that is if they can't get a hold of the owners.

This episode seemed like a setup episode. Obviously, some bad crap is about to go down.
We found out at the beginning of this that Piero has recently gone through a divorce, so I don't think he was lusting for Fabi from afar for a ling time. There was a similar storyline in Marido en Alquiler recently-- the 21 year old heorine, broken up with the similarly aged galan, and starts being courted by an older man-- a man in his mid-late 30s. The issue-- he's been her dad's best friend and right-hand man for years. He watched her grow up. When he told his BFF his feelings and intentions towards his daughter, he got punched. His friend then asked him when he started to feel these feelings for his daughter, and he said for some time now, but not before she was of age. There was debate on the Telemundo feed, and I questioned if he really just flipped a switch in his brain when she turned 18. Hmmm.... He had also just been through a divorce. In any case, we (the audience) are now totally behind this guy. We want the heorine to stick with him because he is so mature and caring, unlike the galan. Unfortunately, she's still in love with the galan.
This feels even more unacceptable/odd because Fabi is so young, AND immature. The heorine in Marido is mature for her age.

As for Leo's age-- he looks to be in his early-mid 20s. This kind of age difference, although pushing it here in the States, is often shown in tns as perfectly acceptable and normal. In En Nombre del Amor, the teen heroine, in her final two years of high school over the course of the story, had three galans in their early-mid 20s, and she was engaged to all three! Even more shocking was the fact that the actress was even younger than her character, and most of her galans were older than the characters they played. There were NO love/sex scenes. Altair Jaraibo (Raquel) had to carry the load of most of the sex scenes in her usual bad girl role.
Gracias, Vivi. I'm getting caught up on Marido en Alquiler today. The Patricia/Simon pairing seemed to come on all of a sudden. He said he didn't have feelings for her until she turned 18, but it seemed more like the timing had to do with her breaking up with Antonio.
I would suspect that JL is going to stake out the loading dock and follow Ricardo and Paloma out to the beach house. Or just shoot Ricardo. Or blow up the car. Or nuke the planet from orbit. He's just that kind of guy.

I'm sorry I have disappered without a trace. It is December and the examtime is coming (in Hungary from mid-December till mid-February), and for next week I have to make an at least 15-pages marketing strategy plan (about plum jam export) and on Wednesday I will have a difficult exam, so I am learning from morning till night. I don't have any time to watch series, but I haven't forgotten reading your recaps per paragraphs, comments and discussions. I loved its! :)
For me Marilu's behaviour with Ines is unbelievable. I don't think it is a real life situation, I haven't seen yet similar situation, when the ex and the new were hail-fellows. For me it would have been more believable, if Marilu had done small evil things in the office against Ines.
I liked when Joaquin's people had to dance in his office.

I think Piero's problem that he feels lonely himself, and he should have a girlfriend, and the innocent Fabiola would be a great partner for him. It is not hard to love Fabiola, I also love lil'girl. But I still see the opporunity in this pair, but the chance is less and less with Leonardo's presence. I don't mind who will be Fabi's finally partner, if he isn't Seba. With their first meeting, I saw Fabi is very likeable for Leo.
And I regreted Piero in the end, when Cesar punched him, sometimes he is so unlucky, similar to Vladimir in MEPS or his character in STUD.

I'm sorry I have disappered without a trace. It is December and the examtime is coming (in Hungary from mid-December till mid-February), and for next week I have to make an at least 15-pages marketing strategy plan (about plum jam export) and on Wednesday I will have a difficult exam, so I am learning from morning till night. I don't have any time to watch series, but I haven't forgotten reading your recaps per paragraphs, comments and discussions. I loved its! :)
For me Marilu's behaviour with Ines is unbelievable. I don't think it is a real life situation, I haven't seen yet similar situation, when the ex and the new were hail-fellows. For me it would have been more believable, if Marilu had done small evil things in the office against Ines.
I liked when Joaquin's people had to dance in his office.
And another misfortune with Maria, poor girl, what a bad destiny.

I have a couple real life situations where male relatives married girls/women young enough to be their daughters. For me that didn't set a precedent that it's ok across the board.
I draw the line where the older suitor is supposed to be in a counselor, advisor, teacher or other role model. Although women are not exempt, it seems that men have a harder time considering someone "off limits".
That said, I don't like Piero for Fabiola because now that he's attracted to her he's no longer objective. His affection is not what she needs right now. I hope Caesar's assault and Father Plaid's counsel brings him to his senses.

Late to this one because I was out last night and have been catching up.
One of my past cats had to spend a month at the vet because of something that had been neglected by my mother when she had him. He ended up with surgery and a feeding tube that he had for a month. I couldn't take that amount of time off work to watch him 24/7 so he spent a month at his regular vet's office. The staff loved him and took excellent care of him; I visited him 3x a week. He made a full recovery and lived another 7 years to be adored by me and my friends. That vet stay cost me $1500. But Tiger was worth every cent.

OT, but still some quasi relevant Odds 'n Ends.
I had the good fortune of having access this weekend to Univision's telenovela channel that runs old TNs. They were playing one called "La Madrastra". I'm pretty sure I remember it being mentioned here as a classic TN.
It had Cesar Evora in it. He was at least 40 pounds lighter, so I could see why Urban has said he was a galan in his time!
I didn't see much of "Abismo de Pasion", but the woman with the orange skin and crazy eyes was also in La Madrastra (Sabine Moussier?) and was paired up with the same guy that she was with in Abismo (Sergio Meyer, I think..I had to look it up). She still had the crazy eyes, but brunette hair and no orange skin.
The witchy mother in "Soy Tu Duena" was also in it. She looked just as elegant, but was just as witchy.
Then, the lady who does all of the crying, Victoria Ruffo, was the female lead. Yup, she was crying. She is a master of the waterworks!
Funny thing is that even though I only saw two episodes, I pretty much got the general story line in just those two episodes. :)
I only saw this channel for two days. I sure wish I could get it, but am stuck with what I have for now.
Anywho, I was just excited to see a TN that had been talked about here and to see some of these actors in previous works.
Oh! I also saw the father from "Cuando Me Enamoro" playing kind of a jerky guy in the TN that followed "La Madrastra". He was so young looking, but it was hard to see him playing a jerk. I think he is such a good actor. Rene Casados...the name just came to me.
Going back to "LM", there was an older actress there who clearly had had so much plastic surgery done on her face that it almost looked like plastic surgery gone wrong. It was very distracting to watch her. Would those of you who know "La Madrastra" well know to whom I am referring? I'd like her name so that I can look her up and get the scoop.
This channel is also going to rerun "Dinero". Those of you who get this channel sure are lucky!

Fatima, I don't know about the plastic surgery queen you mentioned from La Madrastra, but it isn't Lucia Mendez, whom I think has had almost as much plastic surgery as Michael Jackson.
If you get UniMas, they're at the tail end of El Privilegio de Amar where Cesar Evora plays a priest and they're at the beginning of Las Vias del Amor which has both Jorge Salinas and Gabriel Soto. Both of those guys are frequently shirtless in this series (and Jorge has no chest hair, which made him look even better). Enrique Rocha is also in it and plays the most interesting of all his villains. He has an interesting look in that series; in fact he looked pretty hot for 60!

Fatima- I'm in Southern California and everyone here says Sea of Cortez. (I think I heard "Gulf of CA" more when I was in AZ). Can't speak personally to safety though. So many people go down to Rocky Point and others areas on the coast, but sine all we ever hear are the bad things, it's hard to know what it accurate. Maybe it's a win some-lose some situation? Also try checking flights to Guaymas from Tucson. Might be more options from there.

Kelly, thanks for the input re "Sea of Cortez" vs "Gulf of California".
I've known it as "Gulf of California", but I had to check this point and found that "Sea of Cortez" (or Sea of Cortes)is interchangeable with "Gulf of California". It is also known as the Vermilion Sea (isn't that pretty?) A little geography point I had to get straight in my head for myself.
I wish I could get some good up to the minute info on relative safety in that area. A friend who is from the state of Durango told me that I should not even consider making the trip by myself (which I wasn't) and that it flat out was not safe. Darn, darn, and darn.
AlejoP, how are your studies going, my friend? :) Thank you for clarifying the location of each of the hotels in MPV. I have not been able to find out if they are real, bona fide locations, but will keep searching.

Yeah, Fatima! Christmas decorations are up in my city (where I study in the 3/4 part of the year) from the beginning of Advent! Plazas, Building, main roads, street, squares, the mall. I think it's very nice, there is a huge Christmas Tree in the middle of main squarem and Christmas lights ara everywhere in every form. Forms: traditional, bell-form, fir-twig form, star form. These mediate the Christmas spirit! :)
But in my small small small village, (where I grew up, it has less than 300 inhabitant), there isn't big decorations. Only a fir-tree in the village center, and that's all.

It's a dessert with poppy or ground wellnot, but my granny always does with cottage cheese for me, because I like this variaton the best. But I think, every kind of "bejgli" is delicious.
