Mentir Para Vivir #42 Wed 12/4/13 Do they make small anvils for Chihuahuas?
Labels: mentir
I never grew up with animals, but I know you don't criticize how a dog owner treats their dog, unless they are mistreating them. I've also only seen big dogs sleep in outdoor dog houses, not little lap dogs like Tito.
It's only been a few days, but JL's jealousy and possesiveness are already rearing their ugly head. Having Ori followed too. How long before he tells her the charges against her have been dropped?
So neither Ricardo nor Piero is the sperm donor for Sebastian. Not that this surprises me. There are going to be consequences for this.
JL is seriously delusional and I think he's on the edge of the deep end. There is no world (except the cinematic Italian Mafia) in which criminal activity can lead to a better life for one's family. In view of his actions there is no way Oriana will forgive JL, so no matter what he was like before she can't possibly feel the same way about him anymore.
And the Oscar goes, once again, to Tito. I LOVE your title. Lots of foreshadowing here, I fear.
Lucina's warnings about men like JL are certainly coming true. It does seem like JL's role in the organization has grown or changed since their time in Colombia. He operates like a major crime figure now, something Oriana might have picked up on in their earlier life.
The scene at the school was very sweet. Alina is a tough little girl, better able to defend herself and her interests and handle change than Oriana gives her credit for.
Is a minor in Mexico considered to be under 21? Or 18? The Piero/Fabiola link is sweet but does seem a little creepy. I appreciated everyone's thoughts on this yesterday.
What I wonder about is whether Mexico has different minimum ages for things like alcohol consumption, smoking, military service, etc. like we do.
Most of the world has 18 as the age when you're no longer a minor - I don't know why the US keeps the 21 years old age limit for drinking, but you can drive a car at 16!!!
Poor Tito...he's not in Paloma's house anymore, huh?
I hope Rhodalina sets her eyes on daddy as her next target... ahem...
I love that Tito will be JL's undoing, hopefully. I'm a big dog lover and always had one, but not sleeping on my bed. But each to his own.
JL is mal, but Alina, who's one of my favorites, *is* spoiled. At that age, especially since Ori gave Alina her way, I would've made up with my dad in the morning. That said, anything that brings JL down is good.
Sure hope Fabiola has no romantic interest in Piero. She doesn't need a 30-something filled with regret about his own teen years. Glad Ricky pointed out how inappropriate and old Piero is.
I'm really concerned about Oriana not being honest about JL to those close to her. Her consistent claims that he isn't violent doesn't jive with how he keeps threatening her; that's a form of verbal abuse which is violence.
Vivi - ITA w/you regarding JL. He's so slimy with no sense of his own responsibility.
Yes Alina is spoiled though some of it is b/c of Oriana's guilt about having to flee Colombia. I cringed when she ask Pal to not invite Ricky to the house.
I think Ori's life is getting worse with JL. They have already argued, and it won't be a good pattern for Lina, if it continues. Lina thinks Ricky is the bad guy, but JL earned a bad point with Tito. Az least he bought a dog house for Tito, but in my opinion, Tito sleeping with Lina isn't a too big problem. Small, smart, clean, healthy dog. I have an old lady friend, who has slept with 2 dogs since years, and one of them is huge, and she didn't get sick from them. They are very well-kept animals.
I thought the same as J desde NYC, JL is like Maddy. They don't like the animals. Further thinking it, they might be a good pair, haha.
:D :D
I loved the meeting of Ori and Ricardo at Aresti house with their body/face language, and the scene was so great when Lina appeared. Before I thought they will kiss, but they just hugged each other. It was exactly right.
Others have already said it, but if this were a normal family situation, Lina would be very spoiled and bratty...but since she's acting this way with JL I am totally fine with it.
Like Jardinera, I had a theory about Pi and Fab...but it got shot to heck with the DNA results.
He let the Tito lie in the bed with her until she went to sleep and then he put him out in a dog house. How is that bad.
On the other hand, ordering a hit on Berto...makes him a bad person.

However, the writing in this novela is clear that Tito is basically the best est dog ever, and he is small, and quiet, so to not like him/banish him from Alina's side, the same Matilde did, is choreographing JL as a two faced bad person. Also, the point of getting Tito in the first place was to allow Alina to adjust in her new life at Paloma's. It was a sign that she and Ori had finally settled down comfortably after the initial drama in their lives that JL precipitated. Even if one thinks dogs shouldn,t be in human living areas for hygiene sake, the fact that JL didn't,t think that that Tito is gonna help Lina acclimate to the new house is troubling since it's obvious he's not tthinking about Lina's tranquility. After a few months, Lina would move on from Tito and not need him so close by. But she does now given all the upheaval in her life.
I think Lina has been spoiled since JL showed up and started telling her lies. That's when she started to change. Lina was very respectful while she was at Paloma's. I remember her visit with Paloma when she was recovering from the infarto. She didn't try and pull her 'I'm the cute bisnieta' card on Matilde who was stopping her from visiting; she expressed love amd concern about Paloma's health and madesure not to bring Tito around Paloma so he wouldn't bark and disturb her. Lina was doing great until JL brainwashed her at the Kids Burger.
And Oriana agreeing to go back to JL for her daughter when it's clear that she has no feelings for JL was a bad idea. All that's gonna happen is Lina is gonna see two parents who
dislike each other fighting.
We can agree or disagree about whether Tito should be in or out, and if Alina is spoiled or not spoiled, but if JL wants to endear his family to him, this is not the way to do it. Once his family is established and settled in, then go ahead and work of these issues. But it's way too soon yet to try it.
In the US, you can go off to war and fight for your country, but you can't have a beer at the end of a hard day on the front lines.
The problem is JL's attitude. He just barely got Ori and Lina into the same house, using blackmail (after he's the one who blew up their former home life), and he wants to be king of the domain. He wants everything his way, right now, and everyone to act the way he wants. Sorry, buster. You lost your vote when you made your family go on the run from the police and the mob.
As for dogs indoors and even in the bed, as long as the dogs are well-behaved, reasonably clean, and there are no allergies involved, I see no medical contraindication. Certainly personal preferences and cultural and religious considerations must be honored, but dogs and humans share very few pathogens. Actually, Lina, as a human child, presents more of a potential health threat to Paloma than Tito.
It looks as though we're about to lose one of my personal favorites... Berto. He's a rather terrible person, not to mention scroungy looking, but I like the way he defiantly stands up to JL and I find him to be very entertaining in an icky sort of way. Apparently JL doesn't share my amusement and admiration. I guess he's got his hands full scuzzing things up in Agua Azul as Adolfo (LQLVMR).

JL is such an overbearing controlling creep. I hope Oriana either moves out or puts a lock on her bedroom door. Personally, I am not a huge fan of dogs and would never let one sleep in the bed with me (the smell of dogs really bothers me, even when they are clean), but if Lina wants the dog in her bed and her mother has no problem with it, then he should let it go. His throwing the dog outside was just to make sure we know that he is steamrolling his wife and daughter and insists on having everything his way.
I have read that kids who grow up with furry pets or live on farms and are in the dirt and around animals all the time actually have lower rates of respiratory illnesses and allergies, so JL's logic is bunk.
Personally, I hope he continues in this jerky behavior so spoiled Lina will want to get out. Oriana should have just told her absolutely no way would they live together. It's not like she doesn't already know something is wrong with their lives, after the sudden moves and the lies.
How does Ricardo still seem to be under the impression that Fabi loves Sebastian? I guess I wasn't paying close enough attention. Did Piero sugarcoat the rape story that much, or does Ricardo just not think it's that big a deal? I wish Fab would tell someone more caring and competent what actually happened. Oriana's condom advice was well-intentioned but not at all what was needed.
Thanks Paquita. Awesome recap.
The lawyer can acquire Antonia's DNA the same way he got Sab. Those two deserve each other.

UA, yes, I did actually think of ENDA during last nights episode. I literally was like "Oh no. Is JL gonna pull a Carlota and kill Tito." He very well could still do it.
I do hope the man that JL/FC made the business deal with doesn't end up broke and lose his company.
Looks like Oriana's nightmare has begun.
