I've reposted my post from last week's messages, since I got it up so late. Here it is.

Thanks, Mena, another wonderful recap!

In the short run, Bert can help Ines by backing up her story. But that won't work forever. And we know Santi will gradually get his memory back anyway.

Alicia is already looking better than she did in prison, where they had her hair frizzy, no makeup, etc.

Pancho and the Marrero legal system sure had a dismal record solving murders, and putting people in jail. Let's see, Santa was jailed earlier for killing that chauffeur/assassin. Then she was released. Santiago was jailed for fake passports. He was released. Ivan was convicted of murdering Carlos and jailed. Released. Mara was convicted and jailed for poisoning a customer. She'll be released. And of course, Santa herself will probably be released soon, if that hot shot lawyer was right. So, five people convicted of or imprisoned for murder, all not guilty. And except for Horti's confession, the police solved ZERO of the crimes! Not to mention they don't know about the trafficking in women taking place right under their noses. It's amazing Pancho isn't even MORE upset, given his abysmal record.

But maybe things will improve for him. I hope so.

LOL The first person Santa/Diabla goes after and kicks behind on is NarcoGuy. The writers have a sense of humor!
 

Monday – Part 1

As we saw at the end of Friday’s episode, Inés calls Bert, who is at Begoña’s house, and tells him that Santi is alive but has lost his memory. He has to come over ASAP and help her answer Santi’s questions before the situation blows up. This is his opportunity to separate Santi from Santa forever. Willy is asking Bert a lot of questions about Vicente’s death and how Bert knows that Santa is innocent. Bert doesn’t answer and is heading out the door when the big-shot NY lawyer shows up to tell Santa’s family that Santa is going to be released from prison this very day. There is much rejoicing.

Mara is in her cell with Santa. She tells Santa how she overheard the guards planning to drug and torture Santa, got a message to her family who called Bert. If Mara expected Santa to thank her for helping her, she is disappointed. Mara goes on to say that Bert must really love Santa because he moved heaven and earth to help her and stayed with her all night in the infirmary. Santa owes Bert her life. This is not what Santa wants to hear and when Mara repeats it, Santa slams her against the wall and tells her to shut up about Bert already. Poor Mara looks like a hurt puppy. That’s a nice thank you for possibly saving Santa’s life.

Vicky and Tránsito are back at the Trebol del Oro but Vicky still hasn’t been told her diagnosis. [Qué the hell? I thought the doctor was about to tell her.] Anyway, Vicky says that if Patricio doesn’t kill her the disease will. She is going to write a farewell letter to Ivan. She asks Tránsito to deliver it. Tránsito is hesitant, fearful of Patricio’s wrath but Vicky pleads with her saying that Ivan is the most important person in her life and of course, Tránsito agrees to deliver the letter.

Death of Horti- This was very unsatisfying for many reasons. First, Horti did not suffer commensurate with her evil deeds. Second, she dies without telling anyone that she was responsible for Arturo’s hit and run injuries in a previous attempt to kill Mara. Third, she didn’t get a chance to kill Lisette who is annoying beyond belief and fourth we had to sit through a lot of forgiving and pious platitudes. Bottom line: Pancho hears her confession to poisoning the patrons in Mara’s restaurant [did Horti incriminate the nurse?] and he goes to see the judge. Lisette is beside herself with frustration. She tells Arturo that Horti can’t die until she… “Until she what?” asks Arturo. He guesses that Lisette was trying to get Horti change her will and wants to know what Lisette was bargaining with. She doesn’t tell him. Horti is worried that God might be black – yech. Elisa forgives Horti for being a racist and assures her that she is going to heaven (if there is a heaven, Horti is definitely not going there), Horti gives Arturo her blessing to be with Mara. Horti’s dead son comes for her and she croaks.

Bert is on the way to see Inés when Franco calls. He asks if Bert has heard the news that Santa is getting out of prison thanks to the lawyer that he, Franco hired. Cutting to the chase, he tells Bert that he is interested in Santa and hopes Bert doesn’t have any problems with that. Bert’s marriage to Santa was a farce. Bert agrees without any enthusiasm. Franco has a great idea – let’s get together for dinner me and Santa and you and… Bert volunteers that he has a girlfriend – Lisette [this would undoubtedly be news to Lisette.]

 

Monday – Part 2

Santa wonders what Diabla/Alicia’s relationship is to Francisca and George.

Bert arrives at the cabaña and Inés fills him in on what Santi remembers and what she has told him. Bert is amused that Inés is pretending to be Santa. Inés says that it is no problem because Santa is in prison. Bert drops the bombshell that Santa is being released this very day. Inés leaves Bert with Santi and we see her driving somewhere vowing to get rid of Santa. [With her new skills, Santa is going to wipe the floor with Inés]

A really nervous Tránsito delivers Vicky’s letter to Ivan but she won’t tell him where Vicky is. Ivan reads Vicky’s letter, which thanks him for all his love and for making her feel like a real woman. She tells him that she has met another guy on her trip and is very happy. Later Ulises comes over to the bookstore and confirms that the letter is in Vicky’s handwriting. Ulises is doubtful that Vicky has really found someone other than Ivan but Ivan is convinced that Vicky has left him for someone else. He decides that he should move on with his life, too. He leaves Ulises to close the bookstore and goes to the Trebol del Oro and orders a bottle of booze and a bimbo. [How ironic – we know that Vicky is right upstairs.]

Alicia is watching the video of the happy Cano family birthday party again. She calls Fran on the phone but when Fran answers she doesn’t say anything.

Elisa comes to see Mara and tells her about Horti’s deathbed confession and she should be free very soon.

Maybe Horti is really Jewish because they sure are burying her quickly. Her body is coming right from the clinic to the Church. Lisette is being her obnoxious self and Arturo says that if she doesn’t want to go to the funeral, that’s fine with him. Padre Milton comes in with Horti’s lawyer. Apparently, Horti wanted her will read even before she was buried. Lisette tells the lawyer to cut to the chase – who is inheriting Horti’s money? The lawyer reads the will, which says that her grandchild, Felipe, will inherit everything. Lisette is overjoyed until Arturo pops her balloon by saying that undoubtedly Horti named an administrator to handle the inheritance until little Felipe is of age. Horti did name an administrator and it’s – PADRE MILTON!! Lisette is so angry that she attacks the Padre physically and has to be hauled off by Arturo and the lawyer. So much for getting on Padre Milton’s good side.

Santa walks out of the prison yelling, “¡Por fin!” “Finally!” Franco is there to meet her. He tells her that it was the lawyer that he hired who got her out of prison. She didn’t think that Bert was capable of doing that, did she? Franco asks if he can give her a ride home. Santa isn’t sure where her home is. She asks if Franco is interested in her because she looks like his dead girlfriend, Margarita. Franco is surprised that she remembered what happened when she was in his house. Then Santa is able, thanks to her training from Diabla, to put a choke hold on a man (Franco). He has to signal his guards to back off. Santa wants to know who Franco is and what is going on. Franco doesn’t have to answer because Begoña, Willy, willy and Paula show up to get Santa. Santa releases Franco from her choke hold. Willy asks Franco what he is doing there and Franco tells them that he hired the lawyer that got Santa released. Paula recognizes Franco as Sebastian, Babs’ novio who hung around the Cano house for a while. Willy wants to know what Franco’s interest in Santa is.

Mara finds out that Santa has been released and now she is the only member of the cast in prison.

Bert backs up Inés’ story to Santi. Santi asks Bert if he knows why he was shot. Bert tells Santi that he is involved with a drug gang and double crossed one of the gang, which was why he got shot. He is wanted by the police and the gang and should not take a step outside the house. Santi remembers a voice saying, “get rid of the corpse,” after he was shot. Bert tells Santi that the best thing would be for him to just “disappear.”

I was thinking Horti might just meet up with her dead son Felipe - in hell!

Bert and Lisette do have a child, and a twenty year affair, so maybe they'll get back together, and she and he will be evil again (more than they already are).

For a smart girl, Ines is an idiot. Does she think Santi will never recover his memory, and they'll just live happily ever after there in the cabana? Now that she's killed the old woman, she has moved beyond annoying to evil, and must be punished.

Bert has to find some way of getting Franco caught by Pancho without Pancho knowing Bert was sort of Franco's partner. This won't be easy.

So Franco, Bert, Santi and Willy are all in love with Santa. She doesn't like the first two, although she "owes her life" to them, for various reasons. She's furious at Willy for his affair with her mother. And she thinks Santi's dead. What's a girl to do? Kick butt!!
 

Jean, ICAM about Hortensia's death being unsatisfying as hell. Sure, she got to exonerate Mara, and I think the show was subtly letting Elisa be a little overly gracious when she was going on about being reunited with her shooting-at-cops son Felipe in heaven, but that was it. The hit-and-run gets swept under the rug entirely, since the two people who masterminded it are both dead, Arturo and Mara have a clear path, and now it's all about Lisette vs. Padre Milton (by telenovela standards, this is one damn hard-working priest) and possibly Arturo. Gee, thanks, show.

Santa

fabulous recap Jean!

it's amazing that Santa's torture and overnight in the hospital completely healed all of the cuts and bruises on her face that have been with her since she got there. (will they start using Tasers at the spa?)

I was looking at Hortensia as just bargaining for perks in heaven, but it was sure nice that she gave Arturo her blessing with Mara, he just glowed, and Lisette, who I was beginning to look at as one of the good guys, was having a flip your hair around, in your face, kind of a day when she discovered that the inheritance would bypass her and go directly to her son felipe, my son too Arturo has to keep adding, (and when did they finally go with felipe), anyway, padre Milton sure knows how to look guilty.

Good one Humberto, telling Santiago that he should go into hiding, (he already knows the hide from the narco boss routine) and this would work for shotgun Ines as well, and the "great white shark" has sure taken a hit, standing in the shadow of Franco, can't wait to see him on the double date.

I don't know how much help Pancho will be, with his wedding and all.

I didn't much care for Santa before, now I really don't like her. She treated Mara terrible, for saving her butt & not even saying adios when she left. She is self centered, not even talking to Mara about her situation & now she is a bully. A new SyS, Santa/Sebastion should be more interesting than the old SyS.
 

Jean, thanks for a terrific recap. I so totally agree with your dismay/disgust over Horti's death scene. I was especially grossed out by all the pious cliches and platitudes. The only thing I enjoyed was Horti's fear that perhaps God is black.

Variopinta, yes, a new SyS would be more interesting than the old one. OTOH, I find the "new" Santa beyond belief. A day or two of lessons from Diabla is all it takes to transform her from clueless clutz to Superwoman?

I am still being amused by Santa and Sebastian... she recounted all the times he kidnapped her with chloroform before and asked if he thought she had forgotten all about these episodes. Then, not only did she put a chokehold him, she kneed him pretty good too. Then she asks him what his story really is while she has him in a chokehold and pulls at his hair.

In general, however, I do agree with the comments that this new Santa is pretty rude. And ironically Diabla keeps moping over the old CD of the birthday party and how beautiful Barb is.

The phone call from Sebastion to Bert to alert him that he is interested in Santa was interesting. It is probably a good thing Bert kept his feelings close to his chest because he might not be alive much longer if he hadn't!!

One good thing about Horti's death is that I hope we are done with the racism storyline. It was done in such a heavy-handed, cringe-inducing way. According to the census, the "real" Marrero is 41% Caucasian and 46% African American but you sure don't see that mix on the streets and in the restaurants (or prisons) of "novela" Marrero.

Santa's one-day "training" to become a martial arts specialist is so ridiculous. It reminds me of Marelene Favela as Esmeralda getting "warrior training" at the Amazon camp in Zorro. At least, the Amazons wore skimpy, little outfits instead of baggy prison jumpsuits.

From the previews, it looks like Santa is just going to beat up everyone she doesn't like. Not really an improvement...


 

Marrero is a real place? Let's hope the real cops are better than NovelaMarreo ones.

But thanks for the Zorro reminder! I liked that show despite amazon women and all the other groups that somehow ended up in CA. I think the Amazon women would be much better trainers than Diabla. I don't recall them having to branding Esme with cigarettes (or whatever they smoked).

Jean, thank you for the entertaining recap; I loved your description of Horti's death... very disappointing, indeed.

I agree with you all about Santa: if before she was somewhat tolerable and she had a reason for revenge (Willy's death), now she's just plain unlikable. The new SyS can only be an improvement on the old one... just my honest opinion.
 

Have you ever wondered about the name Tránsito? I'm a little embarrassed to admit that I thought it was a made-up name or a joke. It turns out it to be a traditional 'nombre de pila' with a religious significance. It comes from the Latin, transitus, meaning voyage, passage, crossing. As a baptismal name, it is an allusion to the passing or death of the Virgin Mary, the passage from life to death and from death to a new life. Literally, Tránsito means 'going beyond' or 'going to the other side.'

SANTA, Martes, Part 1

Before Franco can answer Santa's question about what his story is, her family shows up (Begoña, Paula, Willy and willy). After hugging willy, she ignores the others, says she's leaving, she has stuff to do. They just stare.

Lisette is livid that she got screwed out of “her” rightful inheritance by Horti. Arturo tells her she's behaving shamefully. This falls on deaf ears, as she goes to Bert's office, and asks him what she can do to fight this Will change. Bert thinks a moment, and says well, if the Administrator (Padre Milton) were to disappear.....the parents would be the administrators! Lisette is shocked, are you saying I have to kill Padre Milton? Bert just smiles, he wasn't suggesting, just explaining the law.

Pancho is talking on the phone to the judge from Mara's case, explaining how Horti confessed, when Inés enters. She wants to talk, but he's busy. But when he's called to the other room for a minute, she rummages through his drawers, and finds his gun! He left it unsecured AGAIN. She pops it in her purse, and heads off in search of Santa. She arrives at Begoña's house, and demands to see Santa. No one can understand why she is so insistent, and Begoña, Paula and Willy don't trust her one bit. Willy steps up, tells her he'll NEVER allow her to be alone with Santa. And forget about the baby, he'll take full charge of her. Nope, replies Inés, I'M going to take it, it's mine! Paula is aghast that Inés refers to the baby as a thing. Inés is on a roll. There's no proof that you, Willy are the father, whereas I gave birth to the child. And there's no way I'll allow any DNA testing on some “stranger”. So I'm going to do whatever I want with the baby. Paula and Begoña can't believe what they're hearing. You didn't even want the baby last week. Why do you want her now? Inés just smiles. She then gets tough, and threatens Begoña, tell me where Santa is, or else? What are you gonna do, KILL me? Replies Begoña.

Santa's first stop is the mansion, where she runs into George, and demands that he tell her what relationship he has with the Diabla. George won't tell. Enter Bárbara, calling Santa a killer, and insulting her in her usual smug fashion. But this is the new Santa, and she SLUGS Barb, then slaps her, kicks her, throws her to the ground, and beats her without mercy! (I know I shouldn't have, but I enjoyed this!) George can't believe it.

At the Trebol de Oro, Iván is getting drunk, and a young hooker is trying to tempt him into more. He resists for a while, remembering his love for Victoria, but eventually decides that if Vicky found a man and moved on, why shouldn't he? As he gets up to go with the girl, he knocks over a glass and bumps into a guy. They start yelling at each other. Upstairs, Vicky and Tránsito hear the noise, Vicky says it sounds like Iván! Tran says impossible, he'd never be here, he's such a nice boy. She goes to investigate, finds that it IS Iván, and is powerless to do anything, as he goes off with the hooker. Not only that, Vicky sees him, too! The next day, she's wearing the same clothes, didn't sleep a wink, tells Tran that she sort of wanted Iván to start a new life, but seeing him here with that woman made her jealous. Tran offers a pain pill, but Vicky wonders if there's a pill that can lessen the pain in someone's soul.

Franco goes to meet Bert in his office. He wants the truth, does Bert have feelings for Santa? Well, speaking of the truth, replies Bert, why don't I just call you Franco Garcia Herrera! Yes, I know all. The police are looking for you. Franco isn't worried a bit about that. He still wants to do business with Bert. He suggests a double date, Bert can bring Lisette. And don't try anything, I've got my men posted all around your office. He does. Later, Bert calls Lisette.
 

SANTA, Part 2

Elisa is despondent, with Mara in jail, there's no money left, and there are several more patrons who went to the hospital from the poisoning and might sue. Lázaro says not to worry, I brought you this help wanted ad. Someone is seeking an image consultant. Elisa brightens up, that would be perfect for me.

Inés comes to the cabaña to check on Santiago. When she's in the other room getting his medicine, he just happens to look in her pocketbook and finds the gun!

Ulises comes to the police station, and shows Pancho the letter Vicky wrote to Iván. It's Vicky's handwriting, but there's no way Vicky would take another lover, he doesn't believe that for a minute. He asks Pancho's help in checking this out.

Santa next follows George, and he leads her to Diabla/Alicia's house. Inside George says we're in big trouble, Santa is snooping around, what if she finds out I've been working with you for years? Alicia doesn't care, tells George you're in it for the money, you knew the risks. Just be careful. He leaves, and Santa enters. The two Diablas size each other up. Santa tells Alicia she's not leaving until she gets answers. Why was Diabla calling George? And why did she have a picture of Francisca Cano? Alicia doesn't play games, looks right at Santa, says, because Francisca Cano is my mother! Yes, all the stuff I told you in prison was true, except I left out the fact that the family I hated was the Canos. George has been supplying me with info for years. Don't you see? We both hate the same family. We can join together. The two Diablas will bring down the Cano family? You can live here with me! Are you with me? Santa doesn't exactly jump for joy, but it appears she WILL join Alicia. She also tells her she just gave Barb one heck of a thrashing.

The doorbell rings, and it's Elisa! Alicia is the person whose image has to be improved (we all probably guessed this). Santa hides, Elisa enters, and tells Alicia (who introduces herself as Alicia Aseca or some other fake last name, I didn't really catch it. Elisa says she can remake Alicia's image. She has a nice body, and pretty hair. Alicia says, yeah, but what about my patch? Elisa says they can get a new, more elegant patch. Sure, says Alicia, but don't you wanna know why I wear it? Lesson one, says Elisa, is that proper people don't pry into the personal lives of others. Alicia likes this. You're discreet, but not afraid of telling the truth to me. You're hired. See you tomorrow. After a beaming Elisa leaves, Santa says wait a minute, she knows the family. Well, does she like them? No, says Santa, I don't think she has any close feelings for any of the Canos. Well, then fine, we're all set, says Alicia. I can't wait til my makeover when I confront my mother, looking like a million bucks. I've waited years for this!

Inés comes back in the room, sees Santiago holding the gun. Santi says what was this gun doing in my bag? Inés doesn't bat an eye, oh, it's my brother Pancho's gun. He's the chief of police, so we can't mess with him. You didn't even remember I had a brother, right? But, Santa, says Santi, why do you have his gun, that seems strange to me. Oh, he just told me to hold it for him, I'm going to return it now. Santi says this is still hard to believe. Inés says c'mon, I'm your Santa. You can trust me. Now don't you ever doubt me again, okay honey? She lightly kisses him on the lips. But I'll go return it to Pancho now. Bye, honey. As soon as she leaves, Santiago takes out his phone, dials a number, saying into the phone something like “It's working. No one suspects a thing.” OMG!!!!!
 

Great recap, Hombre. How did you get it done so quickly? I had to check my calendar to be sure this was Tuesday--I couldn't believe today's recap was already up.

I enjoyed the brief exchange between Alicia and Elisa. When Alicia pointed to her patch and asked how she was going to impress people when she had such a handicap, Elisa said something like "it needn't be a handicap, it's intriguing," and I think Alicia was very pleased. I'm eager to see more of Elisa and Alicia together.

Another thing that interested me in tonight's episode: how Pancho's face lit up when Ulises came to his office. I think Lucy should start looking elsewhere.

And your "OMG!!!!!" sums up my feelings as well about the ending of tonight's episode. Nothing else about the episode was surprising, but...QTF????

That ending was to die for - I waonder who is santi's accomplice... I don't think it's Santa because she just got out of jail.

When Alicia introduced herself I believe what she said was Alicia "asecas", which means that she should be called just Alicia, no last name.

I'm getting my extra-strength beanie out now.

Lisette is little Felipe's mother so she would be entitled to an allowance from the estate to provide a home for the kid. The amounts might not meet Lisette's expectations but it's better than nothing and if she had been nice, she could cajole Padre Milton into quite a lot of money to raise the kid in the style to which she is accustomed.

You can see the giant anvil hovering over poor Padre Milton now that Bert has told Lisette that only the good father stands between her and the kid's $$$.

It is of course, not true in "real law" that the parents would take over as administrators if something happened to Padre Milton. If the will didn't specify a backup adminstrator, then the court would name one. The parents could request to named adminstrators but the court would be unlikely to grant such a request because the testator (Horti) clearly didn't want the parents to have access to the $$$.

I also experienced some satisfaction as Santa beat the crap out of Babs, especially after Babs was characterizing herself as a model of virtue. But what Santa did is a criminal offence (battery) and if Babs filed a complaint, Santa could find herself right back in prison.

Alicia couldn't have been in prison under the name of Diabla. She must have been Alicia something - Perez? Cano? It just seems ridiculous that everyone, including the guards called her Diabla and now Santa is doing it.

Then there's Santi. I sure hope he isn't talking to Pancho but I'm guessing it's some babe DEA agent. But when did this contact get made? Presumably, he really got shot. Did he never have amnesia?

Adriana, thanks for the explanation of asecas, or sometimes spelled a secas. I looked it up, and you're right, it's like just plain Alicia.

Jean, you make a lot of good points about the beanie tightening needed.

BTW, I do think Santiago's accomplice is Pancho, just as it was before. I think he did lose his memory initially, but he recovered it maybe a day or so ago, and contacted Pancho then. Just my guess, of course.
 

Tuesday

Hombre, this was a terrific recap. And I have to admit I didn't flinch when Diabla Dos beat the crap out of Barbara.

I was taken aback by the ending like the rest of you, but after I thought about it, I figured Santi must have been talking to Pancho. [Well at least that's what I hope.]

I am not a bit bothered by the illogic and inconsistencies. The crazy adrenaline beat of the story keeps me going.

I was as amazed as George, when Santa started beating on Barbara, (Barbara doesn't need a gran final to get what's coming to her, it's getting dished out every day) and I wonder how long it will take for her face to heal, she won't even be able to go out for a drink and a man.

could Vicki possibly ever look any worse, I've been wondering that for months, those good bye forever love letters never do seem to work out so well.

what really worries me, is that we haven't seen Patricio for a couple of days now,

I kind of like Lisette, she is a survivor and she doesn't take cr*p from anyone, but I'm not so sure I like how she didn't reveal Mara's innocence, and then is so upset that her son will get the inheritance, but she won't, and now Humberto, who rarely smiles, suggests that if padre Milton disappears, well... he was really enjoying her predicament and planting that seed.

So what is Santa's beef with the Cano's again, since Willy really did sleep with Daniela, and she hates him now anyway, and Vicente is dead, the Cano's are ruined, and...

but I'm thinking Pancho should hire some more cops now that Diabla & Diabla are in town.
so will Elisa be able to teach Alicia to eat something besides pizza.

it's kind of interesting how the Martinez clan all travel together now, (except the rogue Santa) and confront people with each of their different viewpoints and concerns, and they all live in a 1 or 2 bedroom house, soon to have a new baby, and no one has a job.

 

Deb, you cracked me up with you analysis about the Martinez gang (sans rogue Sansa- HA!) living together in that tiny house and they're all unemployed.
Quite the twisted group, too. The back from the dead cheater, his pregnant sister, his ex lover/ mother-in-law, his son by one mother, soon enough his daughter by another one... The Cano Mansion wouldn't have enough rooms for such a bunch.

And YES, what is Santa's problem with the Canos now? Is she upset they put her in jail? At most she can say Bert didn't do a good job defending her, but he did save her life.
Is she just in revenge mode and can't shake it? If now she's all over town, beating up people and screeching at everyone, imagine how she'll be when she finds out Bert framed her.

I have to agree that it is time to tighten the beanie.. Santi suddenly indicating he is on some secret mission. IMO, it only makes sense it would be Pancho or the DEA. He made the call right after he discovered Ines was "holding" Pancho's gun for him.

IMO DiablaSanta is still fuming over the humiliation from the family that she keeps reliving in her mental moview. She sees that she failed in her attempt to "out" the Cano family as they are all walking around and she has gone to prison twice now. DiablaAlicia told her in jail that DS failed because she was too "emotional". The other thing is that Daniela lied about being victimized by Willy, but I don't remember Santa ever confirming that it was a consensual relationship.

Re: the beatdown of Barb... George sure didn't rush to help Barb out. In fact, he left the house to go find DA and tell her DS was out of prison. Not even an ice pack? Sheesh George!


 

Let me add to that comment about Daniela... it was "consensual" as far as seducing an underage girl can be...

Did I write that "it only makes sense that ..." That statement itself is funny given the twists and turns.
 

Lisette shouldn't worry about the Padre having control of the money. She should be worried about whether there will be any left after all those people suing Mara find out the truth and go after Horti's estate. Might be time to start selling off furniture and hiding the money, Lisette.

Willy, et al should also stop being concerned about Ines raising that baby and start getting a lawyer. He has a pretty strong case against her if he reports that she knew he was locked in the basement the whole time. Pretty sure that would look bad in a custody case. But she's nuts so they need to get on this ASAP.

Someone should have shot Santi a long time ago. Having his life threatened seems to have made him smarter. Unless he left a loaded gun in the hands of Ines. Did he have a chance to take out the bullets?

Great comments, all, especially yours, Kelly. I was thinking that of course Willy could get a court to order a DNA test if he is claiming to be the father of the baby and wants custody but the basement thing is good, too.

My guess is that Santi is working with Pancho. The only problem with that is, Pancho thought he was dead.
 

I must be evil too NM, because I laughed when SD beat down Barbara. To make myself feel better about my lack of sentiment for Barb, I chalked it up to how absurd it looked to see SD slugging rather than the usual slapping! Mr Mena laughed at the scene too. I was already amused when SD roughed up NarcoGuy and then told him that it was HER decision about where she was going to go after she got out of prison... "es MI decision!".

The idea that Santi would really be interesting...

I was thinking Ivan passed due to the fact that after so much alcohol, he was not exactly in the condition to forget his troubles with a hooker. He probably passed out.
 

That is, the idea that Santi is really in cahoots with the bad guys would really be interesting... But it would require tighter beanies and my head is getting sore.
 

Count me in as another member of Team Evil. However, whereas SD was at least passably convincing in her beatdown of Barbara, all I could do while watching her pitiful performance with Franco was keep tightening my beanie. My beanie was a lot tighter than her grasp on Franco.

As for Santi, I suppose he's got to be working with Pancho, but I say that only by process of elimination. I confess that I did try to imagine that he was working with Franco, helping Franco perform some kind of double-cross, but that seemed both too much of a stretch and too much against the Unwritten Rules of Telenovelas, which say that the galan can't be allied with a vicious murderer. Though Santi is such a wussy galan that perhaps the rules don't apply?
 

Mena, I think you and I were thinking along the same lines re Santi's possibly working with the bad guys. As you say, that would be interesting! But I too can't tighten my beanie that much. (BTW, I read your message after I posted mine. Great minds... :-) )

SANTA, Miércoles, Part 1

The writers tricked us again, as Santiago’s accomplice is......Francisca! Yes, he recovered his memory just about a day ago, and called his Mommy. They meet in the graveyard, near Alicia’s tomb, and Santi tells her to keep his secret a secret. In fact, if she meets Inés, just play dumb. But son, why did you do it? It’s the only way I can find out who’s good and who’s bad, Ma (I wish WE could find out. Currently, just about every one of the major characters has lots of bad, although some minor ones are okay). Santi asks Fran why did we meet here? Oh, because no one in the family goes to the tomb of your sister. I do, he replies. If only she hadn’t died at birth. We almost think Fran just might tell him the truth, but....Nahh!!!

Alicia tells Santa that beating up Barb was fine, except for the REASON. Barb had insulted Santa, saying she was a killer, and Santa let her emotions get control of her. That’s a Diabla Do Not. Santa understands, tells Alicia she will live here, but first she wants to visit willy, which she does. But when she arrives, even the kid can see this is not the same old Santa, and he’s afraid of her! She doesn’t get to have some private time with willy, and tells Begoña, Paula and Willy how she’s not too happy with any of them. She’s especially mad at Willy, whose philandering made her lose years of her life! She stalks out the door, followed by him.

Outside, we have two cars, waiting and watching. There’s Franco and his henchmen, ready to try to romance Santa, and then Inés, with Pancho’s gun! Santa and Willy come outside, still arguing, Inés points the gun at Santa, and fires. At the last minute, Willy sees something out of the corner of his eye, jumps in front of Santa, and HE gets hit! The family members rush outside, Franco speeds away, Inés speeds away, nobody sees either one in the confusion, and Willy is rushed to the hospital, Santa not quite controlling her emotions anymore. (Now she has Franco who got her out of prison, Bert who stayed up all night with her, and Willy who jumped in front. She OWES each of them. Sort of).

Lisette visits Padre Milton, and basically stalks him in his presence, without saying anything. He goes, you’re making me nervous. Yes, she is.

Iván did NOT sleep with the hooker. Hooray! She tells Tran that Iván was too drunk, and passed out. During the night, he continually called out Victoria’s name. This is good news, Tran and Vicky hear this, and are very happy. But not for long. First of all, Vicky has mixed emotions. She’s glad Iván was faithful, but on the other hand, she does want him to go on with his life and find someone else. Then Pat shows up, why are you two dames so happy? Vicky doesn’t look sick to me! Get on your whore clothes, slut, you’re debuting tonight as a prostitute! Vicky shudders, obeys. Downstairs, Tránsito tells Pat, don’t be so hard on her, she really IS sick. She has cancer, and it’s pretty far along, looks bad, but I haven’t had the heart to tell her. Well, Pat has no qualms, goes back upstairs, tells Vicky take OFF those whore clothes. She’s baffled, why? Because you have cancer, and I don’t want any customers sleeping with damaged goods! What a guy. Vicky’s destroyed, of course.
 

SANTA, Part 2

Iván goes back to the mansion, after his night of troubled slumber, and is met by Daniela, who’s mad that he wasn’t there. Where was he? He won’t say. She complains, how can she stay off drugs if he isn’t there? He says you can’t always rely on me, you need to do it without me. You need a positive way to channel your life. And here he is. He introduces this guy, and my tv cut out right there. I guess he’s some sports star, who is going to train Dani, but I didn’t get his name or his sport.

Barb visits Bert, shows him her bruised face, says you have to sue Santa, make her pay! Bert says, sorry, can’t help you. Barb is angry, says if you won’t help me, I’ll do things myself. You all don’t even KNOW who you’re dealing with!

Arturo thanks Ulises. He’s leaving the boarding house, will move back to his house, take care of things in the wake of Horti’s death. He’ll also have to deal with the bookstore. The two part as good friends. After Art leaves, saying good luck in finding Vicky , Ulises thinks about how much pain this house holds.

Bert tells Lisette she has to pose as his girlfriend, in a double date. He doesn’t mention it’s with Franco (and Santa, I guess). Lisette agrees, but of course wants Bert’s help, in taking down Padre Milton.

George visits Alicia, and whines as usual. Where’s my money? Alicia tells her about Santa living there, and about Elisa being her image consultant. George isn’t happy about either of these facts, but Alicia tells him to buck up and be a man for once.

Mara gets out of jail. Elisa happily tells her she’s got a job, so she can help with the expenses. Lázaro says, right, and we have something else we want to tell you, right Elisa? Elisa is shaking her head, no, no, no, but we know Laz will drop the bomb about the two of them.

Santa, Paula and Begoña wonder who could have shot Willy. Begoña and Paula remember that Inés was very threatening yesterday, wanted to speak to Santa alone, it must have been her! Santa calls Alicia, tells her that Willy was shot, and they suspect Inés. Fine, says Alicia, I’m with you 100%. Just tell me all the places I could find Inés.

Cut to the cabaña, as Santiago flashes back to various things, puttering around. The doorbell rings, he figures Inés is back, he opens the door, and it’s Alicia!!!!! She’s even more shocked than he, here is her brother, who’s alive! He beckons her in. Have we met? Whoa! And we have to wait til Friday now, because soccer’s tonight.

geez, who would have guessed Santiago would call his mother first, so she wouldn't worry.

hmm, I wasn't sure if Willy stepped in front of Santa to take the bullet or to just stop her from leaving, since he wasn't done talking. I just can't help feeling sorry for this guy, life has not gone well for him over the last few years, but what is it that makes him so unlikable.

wow, Barbara's face looked horrible, I'm glad her eyes are alright so she doesn't have to wear a patch.

maybe the Padre should hook up with Pancho and start wearing one of those vests, I don't think Lisette stalking him would be much help, it's not the Padre's fault, it's just that he needs to disappear is all.

I can't help you with Daniela's new personal trainer, but she sure wasn't looking forward to boot camp.

I guess Mara could move in with Arturo and they could run the bookstore together, although food sales might be down.

Paula is pretty smart for a dummy, fingering Ines for the shooting, and the Diabla sisterhood is pretty strong, "your enemies are my enemies", (no reason to get the cops involved), but I forgot Alicia didn't know that Santiago was alive, hmm, I think Willy looks more like a twin though.

 

H de Misterio - Thanks for the gem of a recap.
Narco Guy just keeps me amused! He tells his henchmen to step on the gas after Ines shoots Willy by mistake. This is not NarcoGuy's murder, this time, he says. No point in going down for the wrong shooting for goodness sake. I wonder if this changes dinner plans?

One part that I didn't see in the recap... Ines comes blasting into Bert's office as he is on the phone and being told that Willy was shot and everyone thinks it was Ines. As Bert hears that the bullet was for Santa with compliments from Ines, he stares at Ines. Bert looks like the gears are rolling about Ines! I forgot who called Bert?

When Transito told Pat that Vicky had cancer I thought maybe Transito was making up the diagnosis to get Vicky out of Pat's way. On the other hand, if Vicky does have cancer, it will help solve Vicky / Ivan mismatched age and what to do about the future of their TN relationship.


 

Maybe some radiation treatment will help Vicky grow a pair so she an finally shoot Pat with the gun STILL under Transito's bed.

But what's up the schedule? I'm on the west coast and we are getting this and Reina but no Marido tonight due to the soccer final. Is the other side of the country different?

Another terrific recap, Hombre. Before I comment on the episode, I want to say that I was very interested to learn that your TV also cut out as the guy Ivan brought with him was introduced. My TV has been doing that fairly often lately, and always with about 10 or fewer minutes to go in Santa Diabla. At first, I thought it was my old TV, but now I guess it's more likely that Telemundo has a gremlin that only comes out late at night. :-)

I was stunned when Santiago's phone partner turned out to be his mother. I guess he feels she's just about the only one he can trust, but with anyone else but Santi, that trust would be misplaced. Oh well, at least he knows she can keep a secret, since she did so concerning her relationship with Vincente for many years.

I can't think of any punishment that would be adequate for Patricio. He certainly is among the lowest of the low.

So are we going to see the call of the blood working with Alicia and Santiago? Will they sense something special before they know who each other is? Guess we'll have to wait for Friday to see whether that cliche comes into play.

I do think that Willy deliberately stepped in front of Santa to protect her. This TN should have been called "Everyone Loves Santa."
 

Great recap, as usual Hombre!!

Yeah, who'd think the first person Santi calls would be his mommy. He asks her to tell Santa that he is alive but Fran refuses. I was wondering why Santi didn't just call Santa but he probably hasn't heard that she isn't in prison anymore.

Who did call to tell Bert about Willy being shot? It doesn't seem like anyone in Begoña’s house would have called. Maybe it was Franco.

Before Inés shot Willy, Franco said something to his goons about waiting until there weren't any witnesses, which leads me to believe that he was going to invite Santa to the dinner party by chloroform again.

Going back to Fran & her secrets. We recall that she was all nervous when she was supposedly getting calls from "Monica Perez." She thought Monica was dead, as she is. But why isn't she worried about Alicia turning up? Maybe she doesn't know that MP told Alicia who she really was.

I have to say that I wasn't expecting Vicky's diagnosis to be cancer. Usually, you say what kind of cancer, but whatever. That Patricio is a nasty guy.

Ivan did say the trainer's name but I can't remember what it was. He could be a love interest for Daniela so that Ivan can get back together with Vicky (I don't think that she will die.)

It was Santa, calling Humberto from the hospital, he wants to know where she is, she just wants to let him know that Ines was responsible for shooting Willy.
(of course no one saw her but us and Franco)
 

New guy was young, cute, kick ass stern looking. No drugs for Daniela.

I don't quite understand the deal with Santi & Fran. He says it worked to her ( I guess her), what worked? Fran is bad news.
 

I just love those looks from Humberto, fabulous, he doesn't need words, just taking it all in & processing. None of the other actors in this can accomplish this.

You're so right! It took me a while to recognize just how good an actor Carlos Ponce is, but he's really head and shoulders above most of the others in this cast. And, as you say, he's especially good at suggesting so much without saying a word.

Just pondering, what has Willy done other than being a mujeriego? He hasn't killed anyone, been involved in illegal stuff, that we know of.
The poor guy has been shot twice, been chained up in a cellar, what 2 yrs? Give this guy a break.

Juanita, 1st time I've seen Carlos Ponte, he is incredible, even in the Allstate commercial. I will definitely be watching for his next TN. I think Franco has met his match, match between dos guapos.

As Laurence Olivier said, if they know you're acting, you are doing it wrong. Carlos Ponce passes.

Glad you all enjoy Carlos Ponce, he's been one of my favorites from way before joining Telemundo. The first tn I remember of him was called Sin pecado concebido (with first lady of Mexico Angelica Rivera) - back then I thought he was cute, but he's like good wine, he gets better with age. And his acting has improved a lot - but then again, I've never seen hil play a villain, this type of part is richer than a protagonista.
I mean, look at Santi... We were all super exciting thinking that wow, Santi called someone, he's so so smart, is he a good guy, is he in cahoots with someone?
NOPE, he was just calling his moooom.

Why did Bert kill Vicente?

Bert says something when he does it - like, "I have to do this," but that's not much of a motive.

Here's what I think. The writers thought it would be a good idea to have a severed head found on the dinner table of the Cano house with a lot of suspects. How to make this happen? You need a victim - Vicente is basically done with his usefulness in the novela - he's been exposed as Bert's father and Willy's kidnapper.

Bert gets picked as the murderer. There is really no reason for Bert to kill Vicente - he was leaving town anyway and he was Bert's father. If Bert really wanted to get back at Vicente, he could have turned him into the police where he would have gone to jail for keeping Willy in the cellar for 2 years. So motive is pretty weak.

But now we come to how. Of all the ways to murder someone, beheading that person seems to me to be the last one a cool character like Bert would choose. I would think he would want to make it look like an accident. Likewise, why would Bert put the head on the dining room table of his own house? He doesn't seem to have it in for Fran particularly. The whole thing makes no sense but it was shocking and moved the story along so we just tighten our beanies and go with the flow.
 

Variopinta asks, why did Santi tell his mom, "it worked", what worked?

The obvious motive was to mislead viewerville to think that Santi was in touch with the police or other law enforcement agency.

But you could explain it this way: This was obviously not the first time time Santi had called his Mom. She wasn't surprised to hear from him. So maybe in a previous call, she advised him to continue to pretend to have amnesia and he is saying that that worked. Just an idea.

Re the question of why Bert killed Vicente: remember the conversation that Bert and his mother had (which was overheard by Begoña) where Fran says something like "The best thing might be for Vicente to disappear." It's possible that Bert decides she's right, or decides to do his mother's bidding, or just has enough resentment toward Vicente that that pushes him over the edge. But I agree that in some ways it makes little sense to have Bert do it, since he hardly seems the right person to have put Vicente's head on the dining room table.

I'd add that Vicente simply knew too much about everyone's past sins. If Vicente went to jail, he would be sure to incriminate Humberto. Killing Vicente was the only way to ensure his silence.

Beheading? Gah! I guess it caught our attention! It seems out of character for cool Bert, yes, but I can believe in his fiery rage, a rage that is simmering under the controlled, expensive exterior.

I'm very anxious to see Alicia and Santi together. You would think that video where he reminds the happy Cano family of her absence would have softened her feelings toward him. But as often as she watches it, she doesn't seem to pay any attention to his insistence that not everyone is present.

hmm, I can see Humberto (beating everyone else to the punch) in offing Vicente, Vicente was Humberto's closest confidant and dirty deeds doer, and first he finds out Vicente has been carrying on an affair with his mother, betraying both him and his father Gaspar, next he finds out Vicente IS his father, but finally when he discovers that Vicente flat out lied to him about killing Willy, and with Willy being alive it threatens to totally unravel Humberto's world, well, that was just too much, and you could see it in Humberto's eyes when he threw Vicente out of the G-Cano offices.

and how about Santa's smack down of Francisca in front of Pancho at police headquarters,

ah, and Franco finally has a date with his beloved Margarita, er Santa, it didn't take long for his dress present to hit the floor, I don't think Santa is going to play out like Barbara, was she just going along to find out about Santiago,

I can't help but laugh at Barbara's new face, Lucy liked it too,

so Victoria has breast cancer, and not a bruja in sight to cure her.

 

I also think Bert killed Vicente to silence him. Vicente had been discovered to have kept Willy in the basement, and would have been arrested soon (I know, he was going to flee, but that might not have worked). As for the sword, I think it was just hanging there in the office, Bert used what was handy. As for the head on the dining room table, at that point Bert was mad at Santa, and tried to incriminate her. Remember, he's the one who sent her the text "Go to the dining room now."

Too bad Vicky doesn't have leukemia, which they always cure with a bone marrow transplant on these shows. If she has to die, I sure hope she takes Patricio with her.

I loved how Ines was pointing the gun at Bert, holding it with her left hand. But she's right handed, this was just a better camera angle. When she went to shoot, she had to switch it to her right hand. So if Bert realized she had it in the wrong hand, he might have known she wasn't quite ready to shoot - although with loca Ines, one never REALLY knows.

I'm not sure, but since Santa told Pancho that she thinks Ines is the one who shot at her, but hit Willy, and Pancho knows his gun is missing, he may realize that Ines took his gun. He already was at the point, earlier, of having to arrest his own father, now his own sister! He's going to need that comfort from Ulises.
 

Friday

Hombre, I certainly got the feeling that Pancho's stressed-out neurons were firing away ("my gun is missing…la loca de mi hermana shot someone…oy vey") And at some point he is going to have to acknowledge to himself why he looks for Ulises in his most difficult moments...

Though we agree on the WHY of Vicente's murder (to silence him), we'll have to agree to disagree on the manner. No matter how hard I try, I can't see beheading your father as a crime of opportunity. Yes, the sword was handy. So pierce him through the heart! Beheading someone takes us to a whole new level of malice and rage.

I hope that AliciaDiabla is a bit glammed up and Barbara's face is still a mask of ghastly bruises when the sisters finally come face to face. [Come on Elisa, work your magic. Don't waste your time worrying about Mara's reaction to you and Lázaro -- she'll probably be relieved that you two are together and will finally butt out of her life with Arturo.]

I do hope that somehow Padre Milton stays safe from horrible Lisette (though I fear he is just another pawn to be sacrificed in this game).

Will Willy survive? Or will willy need to lose his father twice?

BTW, I have no problem seeing SantaDiabla as the Avenging Angel. The actress has the perfect physical presence for the role -- she looks capable of taking on any of the cast, male or female. It is the relatively petite AliciaDiabla who surprises us with the menace and power she projects. She doesn't have the physique of an Amazon, but she makes us believe she is ten feet tall.

So Victoria finally has a diagnosis. Will she undergo treatment or just curl up and die?

So many balls still in the air...
 

It's not just Humberto lopping off Vicente's head, it's serving it on a platter, a la John the Baptist,yuk. Then buying that Santa did it, she didn't walk in with a bag that could hold a head

Santa Diabla, Capitulo 88 12.13.2013

Here is a brief recap for the Friday episode with all the WTQ?! caras impactadas momentos …. I BTW, thanks for the kind words from our recap readers.

Part 1

Santi – While Santi searches for Ines in the various rooms of the house, the doorbell rings. It is Diabla1, looking for Ines “on behalf” of Diabla2 (whose enemies are apparently mutual, per Diabla 1). Santi and Diabla1 study one another and avoid introducing themselves using their real identities. Santi reports that Ines is not at home. Diabla1 is astonished to learn that 1.) Santi is indeed alive, and 2.) he has amnesia. Diabla1 is speechless. WTQ?! Diabla1 manages to depart without explaining who she is. Santi is left with his WTQ?! look that we have all grown accustomed to from him. Later in our capitulo, Santi has followed Diabla1 from his house to her next destination, her own house. He arrives in time to see Santa being dropped off by NarcoGuy, who plants a goodbye smooch on “Margarita”. Santa looks at NarcoGuy with her version of WTQ?! and takes her leave. Santi, of course, wonders what Santa is doing with his nemesis and gives us his second WTQ? look of the eve.

Elisa - Elisa welcomes Mara home while Lazaro tries to welcome Mara to the news that he and Elisa are now a couple. Elisa manages to avoid the discussion and after a puzzled Mara leaves the room Lazarao wonders why Elisa wants to hide their amor. Does anyone else think Lazaro lacks a little in the area of restraint?

Diabla2/Santa - Santa leaves the town hospital for the town jail to report Ines’ alleged attempt to murder her. Begona has a second thought about who might have tried to kill Santa – Fran – in order to keep Santa from discovering that Fran is Vicente’s real killer. Begona relives the moment she overheard Bert and Fran talking about needing to make Vicente disappear. Fran talks about committing murder like it’s another errand – just got to take care of it. Santa makes her way into the police station and barges in on Pancho to report Ines’ alleged crime. Pancho is busy looking for his misplaced gun (somebody get this guy a clapper device). She asks if there is any news about Santi. Pancho informs her that NarcoGuy is really a NarcoThug from Guatemala who may be connected to Santi’s disappearance. Since Santa is one of the few people who knows the real deal about NarcoThug, the wife, Santi, and the contract on Santi’s head, she knows the significance of this development. On the way out of the station, Santa bumps into Fran, and the pair are off and running at the mouth with insults and accusations. Santa swings with her now trademark THWACK and slaps Fran in front of police chief Pancho who tries to calm the pair down. Santa finishes slapping around Fran and leaves the station. NarcoGuy waits at the bottom of the stairs with the SUV and offers her another ride home. Santa, remembering Pancho’s news, decides to go along for a ride with NarcoGuy to gather intel on Santi. Prince NarcoGuy invites Santa to dinner and even provides a dress for the occasion so she can look like a reina (he needs to retire that charmer line – he used it with Barb too). Polishing his charm and dashing way, he reminds Santa that he knows where her son and mom live if she refuses. Who could say no to that?

Daniela – Ivan gets Daniela to get ready for workout boot camp, pronto. He explains to Druggie Dani that the trainer is an expert with addicts so she will have to save her tired tricks for someone who doesn’t know any better. DruggieDani is not happy.

 

Part 2

Bert- Ines’ visit to Bert’s office to request his help goes haywire when Bert tries to force Ines to turn herself in to the police. Ines whips out Pancho’s “borrowed” gun and fires a warning shot over Bert’s head despite his attempt to sweet talk her out of the gun. She dashes out of the office and runs back home. Bert shows up at the cabana house and finally convinces Ines to give him the gun before someone gets hurt – never mind hurt Willy who lays in the hospital thanks to said gun. Bert and Ines wonder aloud where Santi is. Speak of the devil. Santi shows up back at the house.

Arturo – Mara pays a visit to Art and within minutes of a happy reunion and declarations of love, they make their way upstairs into the bedroom to get busy…. Predictably, Lisette returns home and finds her way upstairs to – shock – discover Mara and Art together in bed. Lisette gets righteous and then vindictive saying that she just keeps running into Mara and her mother in compromising positions. She reveals to Mara that she discovered Mara’s ex-fiancé with Elisa. Mara has cara impactada.

Barbara – Beat-up Barb shows up to the Robledo house looking for Fran. She runs into Loopy Lucy who reminds Barb of her manners and says Fran isn’t home. Lucy asks Barb to have a look at her new wedding gown. Barb flounces out of the house after telling Lucy the dress looks like some sort of white Christmas tree (forgot to jot down the exact insult). Unfazed, Lucy shrugs and caresses her new dress.

Diabla1/Alicia - Back at the DoubleDiabla house, Diabla1 reports to Santa that Santi is – gasp- alive! No puede ser! Diabla1 explains that Santi told her he has amnesia and Diabla1 deduces that Ines is taking advantage of Santi’s amnesia and calling herself Santa Martinez. Diabla1 muses that she wanted to tell Santi off at the time of their encounter but just couldn’t bring herself to do it. Santa reminds her that Santi was the only decent Cano of the lot and always spoke of his deceased twin, Alicia. In fact, Santi played original music at her grave. Diabla1 is seen, again, reviewing the family videos.

Ivan – After leaving Dani with the trainer to do pushups and jump rope, Ivan meets with a publisher. The publisher wants to publish his book and contract for three more. She tells Ivan to expect a sizable advance for his work.

Victoria - Somewhere in the middle of the capitulo, Victoria muses about having cancer. She pays a visit to the doctor who confirms that it has progressed, perhaps to the lymph nodes. Pobrecita Victoria considers her newly revealed fate.

Pancho- Pancho has had a very bad day and he pays a visit to Ulyses. This is getting to be a habit. Pat eavesdrops on Uly telling Pancho that he can't help thinking Pat had something to do with Vicky's disappearance.

Fran – Fran returns from her difficult day to an empty Robledo house. She discovers a note on the entry table saying “your daughter came to see you”. As Fran ponders over the note, a hand covers her mouth with a chloroformed cloth. Fran awakens to find herself tied to a chair in the same ramshackle location Santa woke up to next to Vicente’s corpse. Santa emerges from the shadows and says to Fran “I am your death”. Cara impactada and indignada on Fran.

 

Hi All, This has been a very busy pre-holiday weekend. As a result I dashed out a shorter recap.

After Santa found out that Santi was still alive and probably staying at the cabana, I thought she'd run there to check for herslef.
Instead, she goes and Kidnapps Fran? By her words it looked like she planned to kill her, but I don't think the protagonista will go so far.
On the other hand, I hope SHE DOES, because:
1. Fran is despicable
2. I can't stand Santa so if she becomes a killer she will be no better than her enemies.
3. Killer Santa would be no better than killer Bert - the two of them can ride off into the sunset together like the laws of chemistry and awesomeness require

 

Many thanks, Mena. I enjoyed the recap and needed it, since I fell asleep for a short while near the end and missed the scene between Ulises and Pancho and most of the scene between Santa and Fran. I woke up to see Fran tied up and Santa telling her "I am your death." I thought I'd missed a lot more, since I couldn't figure out what was going on in that last scene nor how we got there. Like you, I would have expected Santa to go running off to find Santi after hearing that he's alive, but no, apparently she instead goes after his mother. QTF.
 

Thanks Mena. I really liked, "Pancho is busy looking for his misplaced gun (somebody get this guy a clapper device)." Was Pancho blaming Cifuentes for his (Pancho's) gun being missing? To lose your gun twice extreme carelessness. Does nothing - desk drawers, bedrooms (Arturo and Mara) have locks?

I will join the chorus of viewers who cannot understand why Santa kidnapped Fran instead of trying to find Santi. Does Diabla1 know about what Santa is doing? Fran is the object of HER revenge, not really Santa's.

I also don't believe that Santa will kill Fran (too bad) but for a protangonista, she is straying pretty far into villana territory. Santa has been drugged and dragged off to strange places so many times, she may not realize that doing that to someone else is a serious crime.
 

I agree with the commenters. There are some real storyline derailments.

Santa's kidnapping is just an odd twist. This is much like what they did to Vicente when they were torturing him.

Have we even seen Pancho together with Lucy lately? Did she even ask why he was at Ulysis' house?

And the story continues to twist and turn......
