Mentir Para Vivir #72 Fri 1/17/14 I Confess! The Road To My Personal Hell Was Paved With My Greedy Intentions!
Lo Del Pasado:
Fabiola and Piero get the news from her OB that she’s HIV positive and she goes into shock. She might as well have Leprosy, and she very well knows it. (Thank you, Sebastardo, for spreading the cheer.)
Lo Del Nuevo:
Outside the hospital Piero tries comforting Fabiola despite the bad news. She knows she’s a carrier [portadora] and knows she can no longer have a normal love life. He tells her pshah! With the right precautions, one can. After all, she’s only known to have the virus; it’s not all-out AIDS yet. Besides, love isn’t just sex…..[Sorry, but I don’t believe “platonic love” is quite the same, let alone worth the effort.) Piero is desperate enough to offer himself up for the “sacrifice”, to be her lover and a sick baby’s father. (You’re a better man than [most] am, Gunga Din!) Just then Ric rings Piero on the cell, and he’s guessed she’s got the virus. Piero confirms it.
Ric says there’ll be a family meet up at Paloma’s and to bring her there.
Fabi refuses to face her family, especially her mutt of a Mama, so Piero takes her to his place to rest up.
Back at Palacio de Paloma, the gang’s all there. Ruben is zoned out, weeping while all the others are having to listen to mutt-faced Madtilde rant at the others with “I told you so! And now she’s got aids [sidosa]!” Ric corrects her scornfully. “—Enough already! It could happen to anyone!” “—No, not to anyone! Only to slutty women [cuzca] who sleep around!” Paloma stands her ground and blames her for being over protective to the extreme. She tells her that by not letting her socialize with kids her own age ever, this is the result.
Ric finally calls Piero to see why they haven’t gotten there yet. Piero explains. Ric repeats Piero’s mention of her fear of her mother. Ruben and the others give Piero a verbal message of their support. Madhilde turns it all around, making it all about herself. “—How dare you blame me for what’s happened to my daughter?” In frustration Caesar tells her to show a little mercy! She begins her selfish keening with a litany of woes. “--Who’s going to have mercy on me? My husband has gotten a divorce, my daughter has AIDS, and so does my grandchild…” Ruben finally grabs her roughly by the arm (twisting it, we hope) and tries shaking some sense into her. He ends up dragging her off to straighten her out. (Just in time cuz I was running out of shoes to throw at the screen.)
Meanwhile, at Fort Falcon, Oriana is going crazy from being held almost like a prisoner there. Jose Louis refuses to let her go out alone and when she screams she wants to see her “abuela” he accuses her of making dates to see her boyfriend. He gives in when it seems convenient to get a message to Raquel which in this case is an envelope with a check in it. He calls Mike over to drive her to Lucina’s with a secret check for Raqi.
JL returns to his email message to Joquin stating that they have no cotton-growers available so they need to find another business to invest in.
On the way to the B&B, Mike informs Ori about the check to Raquel. He confirms she’s JL’s lover, and that she’s beautiful—“—Of course, not as beautiful as you, Sra.!” “—Aren’t you the gallant!”
Joquin Skypes JL and demands his presence in Santo Domingo immediately. JL explains he cannot get there immediately because of his twisted knee, but will fly in the next day—and with his wife—despite Joquin’s objections.
Fabi tells Piero how unclean she feels and that he deserves somebody who’s still “pure”. Piero compassionately tell her he loves her and doesn’t consider her like that at all. Caesar and Ruben arrive unexpectedly with a compassionate show of family solace and support. Ruben tells Fabi she cannot count on Mom for a thing. They’ll make sure she gets the treatment she needs.
At the B&B, Ori mentions she’s looking for a child psychologist to treat Lina for her fears about her daddy’s temper. And how is JL treating her, Lu asks her. Fine, just like the JL she always knew—not that they’re sleeping together or anything. “—Did you know he’s going with Raquel?” “--Sheesh! She puts out for anyone with money!” Ori mentions Mike having a check for her from JL.
Speaking of La Reina del Roma, Raqi opens the door and it’s Mike with the check. She invites him in, offering him a drink, and tries seducing him. He refuses the drink and her diversionary delights. Bad for his health, not to mention the job, as he’s driving 2nes around today for JL. She takes a second to ask how well The Missus and Hubby are getting along. Fine, says he. “--No, are they sleeping together?” “—I wouldn’t know to say." His ramera radar starts going off. "--Excuse me. Gotta go!” He exits and she immediately makes a mischievous little call to Ric.
Ric is still chatting with Paloma. Wanting to cause a little hell between her ex-BFF and her ex-one-night-stand, Raqui tells him that his wife is definitely sleeping with Jose Louis and clicks off. Cara de cat-who-just-ate-the-mouse de Raqi.
Ric manages to hide his concern from Paloma. In walks Caesar and Ruben with Fabiola. Fabi runs to Paloma and gets a much needed grandmotherly hug.
Raqi comes down the stairs and sees Lu with Ori saying good-bye. “—Ah, so we’re still lying, eh?” Ori looks down her nose at Raqi and returns the insult. “—Same as you, right?” “—Me? Not at all.” Lu jumps in and has Raqi’s number. “—You? Heck yeah! You going with her husband and gawd knows how many others!” Ori and Lu air kiss and Ori leaves, pointedly ignoring Raquel. Mike smiles warmly (?) at Raqi Ramera and she returns the favor with a hugely salacious smile. Lu brings her back to the present and asks if she’s gone to bed with Caesar. Raqi gibes that the poor guy had such a desire to get it on with somebody that he almost drove her crazy and wouldn’t give her a moment of peace—and so she gave him a piece….
At the hospital, Sebastian’s surgeon tells him he’s morally obligated to inform the hospital who he slept with so they might save other lives. He tells them that he can’t remember; that none of them are worth the effort since they were all sluts. Mariano and Ric ask for his help also. Mariano reminds him others can get sick from them also. Too bad. Doesn’t matter. Screw ‘em all. Ric changes the subject. He tells Seb he’s offering his bungalow for him to recuperate in, and he’ll pay all of his expenses.
A bit later, he gives the news to Fidelia and Marilu. Fidelia doesn’t feel obligated to do a thing for the brat, especially now that they know he’s got HIV. For all they know he’d try taking advantage of Alina, too! Ric persuades her that it’s the moral duty to at least keep him in the bungalow and to get him a nurse to give him round the clock care and to make sure he’s taking his drugs properly and regularly. She gives in, but only after Ric promises he won’t be allowed into the manse.
Afterwards, Ric and Marilu have a chat. What if Sebastardo is so angry with the world that he tries taking it out on somebody, even on Lina? Not a chance, assures Ric, he’s not that perverted. Ric thanks her then for helping persuade Fidelia to allow him at least into the bungalow. She did it because she loves him, she tells him. He feels awkward hearing that and walks away without responding. He mentions then that Raquel called to tell him Oriana and JL are living conjugally again. Could be, but she wouldn’t know if it were true or not, answers Marilu. Well, he doesn’t really think it’s so because she promised she wouldn’t, he replies. (Viewerville knows deep down he does believe it’s true!) Marilu tells him to recognize that they were once in love and did have a normal married life. “—Are you saying this to upset me?” No, she tells him, just to prepare him so he won’t feel so majorly disappointed when and if.
Ric calls Oriana immediately to whine and gritch and otherwise give her grief. Oriana doesn’t want to answer it. JL forces her to answer it. “—Either you answer it or I answer it!” She clicks on and asks if anything is wrong with Alina, but before he has a chance to speak. He roughly asks if she’s sleeping with JL. She goes on with the deception and answers she’ll be taking her to a child psychologist and then will visit her abuela. JL chimes in he’s coming with her since he’s now seeing the doctor per the judge’s orders. Ric hears her tell JL “lovingly” that she’s not ready to see him yet. Ric, who can’t stop sticking his …er…oar in all the time and making things more dangerous for her tries to process. He clicks off. She hangs up abruptly and tells JL the line went dead.
JL doesn’t believe Ori’s act. (Thanks for nothin’, Ricardope!) He tells her that her little boyfriend is a creep who proved he apparently cannot let go of his booty. (presa=prize, slang for stolen loot]. She sneers back at him and tells him he’s no different. He takes her roughly by the arm and declares he’s going to the psychiatrist with her and to pack her bags cuz right after they’re headed off to Santo Domingo. He’s got to see the boss. She’d rather not, but has not choice. Mike interrupts to tell him that Antonio’s come to speak with him. Ori takes the occasion to walk away. He starts screaming that they haven’t finished their conversation. It’s obvious to the both of them that she apparently thinks they have!! (Yep. If anybody has had his "nether parts" severed and stuck away for safe-keeping in this circus, it's gotta be JL!)
Antonio walks in on the fight and chuckles. Fakesisco screams at him that it’s none of his beeswax and what of it? Antonio notes that he called her Oriana and thought her name was Ines. JL ignores him. “—Why were you so late getting here?” He says he was caught up looking into what he asked him to. He thinks it’s a great idea for them to drop Arte Folklor, declare it bankrupt, and reinvest their laundered money in something more profitable, like real estate.
Antonio realizes Fakecisco isn’t paying any attention to a word he’s saying and emphasizes his need to de-stress and stop worrying so much about his family. JL screams at him to butt out of his private life, y punto! He orders him to prepare a detailed report to read on the trip to Santa Domingo the next morning and dismisses him with a signature insultingly rude bat on the forehead.
Upstairs, meanwhile, 2nes calls Paloma and notes something stressed in her tone. Fabi takes the phone and tells 2nes that she’s got HIV. She is coming right over! She clicks off and tells JL she’s heading for Paloma’s cuz Fabi’s contracted HIV. He screams after her that he’s going to despite that fact that she’s afraid he might run into Sanchez Breton. In front of Bernice and stoic, unflappable Mike, she screams back that of course Ric could be there, but that is not the reason. The fact is, she explains, Paloma and he don’t see eye to eye and so much so that she shouldn’t have to still put up with him over there. Tough, he says, you’re not going alone! “--Understand, we’ll be discussing a tragic situation!” “--Well, more’s the reason for me to accompany you! I’ll just stay put in the garden!” He turns angrily to Mike while he leaves to change and threatens to cut off his fambly jewels if Mike lets her out the door in the meantime. Mike follows orders. “--Sorry, Sra.” She quickly whispers to him about the trip to Santo Domingo the next day. He tells her it’s a good way to possibly find out something useful.
That evening Raqi notices Caesar with a suitcase and he tells her that he’s leaving to move back home. He won’t tell her why. “Just because [porque si].” She offers a little good-bye roll in the sack, but he refuses.
In the B&B’s kitchen Lu and Ruben chat about the sad news and the baby. Caesar comes in to say good-bye. Raqi comes into the kitchen and overhears Lu say she knows he’s leaving to take care of his sister. Raqi asks what’s going on and Lu tells her to zip it. She does, at least until Caesar and Ruben leave. Lucina asks Raquel if she’d ever slept with Sebastian and asks her to be totally truthful about it. Raqi Ramera sheepishly lies that she hasn’t. Lu gives her the bad news: that Seb has HIV and that he gave it to Fabiola and possibly to their baby. Duh-duh-duh-duhhhhhhhn!!! Cara de shock-and-awe de Raqi.

(Last 1/3)
2nes finally makes it back to Paloma’s. She goes in while Mike and Fakecisco obediently wait in the garden. JL can’t fight the urge to show a bit of masculine dignity even if he is heeling to his wife’s demands. “—Don’t take a long time!” “—I’ll take as long as I need!” She goes in. He invites Mike to sit on the bench next to him. “Pretty place and pretty darned big.” “—Yeah, the old lady is drowning in cash. She’s major stockholder in Aresti Breton. When she kicks off my wife inherits the whole thing.
Afterwards, Raquel retreats to her booty-oir and has a tearful, ‘what was I thinking????’ moment. (Every eye in Viewerville remains dry.)
Back at Paloma’s, 2nes gives Fabi a bit of much needed consolation. “You’ll be able to control the disease if not cure it, at least. Think of the baby and how it needs you.” FF>>
Meanwhile, Caesar comes in and sees JL and Mike in the garden. Mike explains who and why they’re there. JL is getting antsy to leave.
Inside, 2nes tells Paloma (and Fabi) about her trip in the morning. Paloma suggests she take her own credit card with her just in case she needs to get back to Mexico and her hubby’s got other ideas. If he takes it away from her simply call collect and she’ll send her a ticket home. 2nes says that shouldn’t be necessary.
Ric pulls up outside Paloma’s with Mariano. Seems Mariano’s inherited land and money from his dead mother. He’s now a rich man in his own right. Whatever money he’s got now will only be used for doing good deeds, he tells Ric. They get out of the car and see JL’s car as they enter the garden. Ric’s not backing down or backing off. It’s his madrina’s house after all. As they enter, JL is kissing Oriana’s hand as they get ready to leave the premises. He kisses her on the mouth just as Ric and Mariano pass by. Oriana placates by not resisting. Ric cannot help but witness the spectacle JL is putting on for him. He is irked but decides not to say anything and walks on. Oriana notices this, especially as JL and Ric lock eyes.
Mariano walks over to say hey and to discuss Fabi’s situation. She asks him to watch over the whole family for her. Never worry, says the majestic Mariano. He gives her a brotherly kiss on the cheek and walks on. JL gets jealous that even the priest is kissing her. Ori is soooo tired of it. “—Let’s. Go.”
Later, Ric complains to Mariano about the way JL was acting like Oriana was his property, kissing her and with such an attitude--! Mariano stops him. “—Just like they were married. Remember that they are.” Yeah, Ric says, but she promised to be faithful! “—I’ve been but she’s not!” Hey, what’s a kiss, asks Mariano? “--Especially one she reluctantly gives?” Mariano gives him a verbal slap upside the head and asks if he remembers the reason they really came for. Caesar enters the room. He explains he’s back home to help with his aunt and sister. He asks after Seb. Ric is suddenly speechless.
Lucina comes upstairs to have a sisterly chat with Raqi, but Raqi refuses to admit the truth to her. Lucina goes on and on about just supposing she had slept with him.”—I mean if you’ve had sexual relationships with half the world….. (That’s rich, Lucina.
That night from her bedroom, Oriana makes a call to Homero to tell him about her unexpected trip to Santo Domingo and that she’s scared to death about it. Snoops asks if she’s frightened he’s going to abscond with her and she won’t be able to return. No, answers Ori. He’s not going anywhere without Alina and without her; and he knows Ric will put up a stink. She’s just scared of being put in the mix with a bunch of outright criminals and gawd knows what else, especially meeting this Joquin guy.
Snoops is in his zone and replies matter of factly. “—Take it as an opportunity to find out things that would be of use to us.” She gets angry that all he can think of is “what might help out the case” instead of what could happen to her. Snoops assures her that Jose Louis is going to be the first one to look out for her down there. “--Remember that the sooner you find what we need, the sooner you can be free of this thing and the nightmare will have ended.”
The next day arrives and they’re waiting for JL to go in with Dr. Varenese for his first session. “—don’t forget I’m doing this only for you.” She looks at him blankly. “—No. You’re doing this for you.” They call him in.
Across town, Fidelia watches as the ambulance arrives with Seb and the attendants roll him inside Ric’s bungalow.
Back in Varenese’s office JL says he’s not bipolar, just a normal guy with abnormally huge problems with the job. (I’d say!) What’s he do for a living? [dedicarse] He’s an investor, an entrepreneur. Dr. V asks if the job is a stressful one. “—No, not really. My life has been a pressure cooker since I lost my parents; and I grew up practically alone. Since boyhood.” He laughs and Dr. V asks why he’s laughing. JL asks if he thinks he should cry rivers like a little girl or what? If Dr. V. thinks he’s going to have another fit of anger right then and there, then he’s wasting his time. “—I am a happy man.” “—Despite the problems you’re having with your wife?” “—What problems????” (So much for dispassionate discourse….)
Ric, meanwhile, is trying to make Seb as comfortable as possible. He tells him he’s hiring a nurse for him. Whatever, answers Seb. Ric lets him know then that he’s not supposed to enter Fidelia’s house because she’s afraid of him. “—Is it fear or disgust?” Ric reminds him of all she had to put up with between him and Maria, especially, being as aggressive as she was. “—So I’m a prisoner here?” Not at all, Ric explains. “—Once you’re wounds are healed, you’re free to come and go as you like.” He’ll even have his car brought over. (Love the ankle socks and hospital slippers look, Sebbie. Nice touch.) Finally, the thought hits Seb. “—How’s Fabiola doing?” Ric is again at a loss for words.
Dr. V has hit the nail on the head and JL suddenly unloads. He pursues Oriana’s complaints to the judge. JL says he admits he’s made a few mistakes, done a few bad things, but only to improve their quality of life. “--Of course, she doesn’t see it that way, and I think it is just so… unfair!!” Dr. V. hits a raw nerve when he tries asking about those supposed “bad things” he’s done. “--Who the heck do you think you are? My confessor??!!!” Dr. V changes tack. “—Back to your wife. The report says she thinks you’ve turned violent; that you’re not the man she married.” The only thing that’s changed for him is that he loves her more today that when he married her, and that he’s afraid to lose her. It hurts like a nail puncturing his heart. Why? Because he can’t stand the thought of losing her love, of losing her. “—Perhaps you already have.”
JL refuses to accept that. “—Perhaps I’ve made mistakes, but I’m ready to mend my ways and make up for everything wrong I’ve done—for my wife and my daughter. I treasure them.” He begins to choke up as he continues with his train of thought. “--But, damn it all, I’m trapped! In view of the business I have to complete, that doesn’t allow me to show her that I’ve changed. Because of that she doesn’t believe me. You can help me, Doctor. Tell me how I can make her understand that I love her more than my life. How???” Tears are running down his cheeks now. “’—You’re the professional. Tell me!”
Dr. V tells JL that it’s not that easy to do. JL wipes his nose on his sleeve and continues. “—When I married her I felt like I was the luckiest man in the world. She’s so gorgeous, so intelligent, so kind.” Jose Louis chokes back another sob. “—She gave me a beautiful daughter that I carried in my arms. I gave thanks to Dios for all the marvelous things he’d sent me. (Gawd, it’s sad—not to mention really embarrassing to see a grown man—especially a macho hunk--cry,) He loses it totally here, beats his chest in utter frustration and turns into a bawling baby. “--I’ve ruined everything, Doctor!! Everything!!! All because I wanted her to live like a queen without wrecking everything we had. How I would love to turn back time!! But, I don’t know how!! I don’t…know…how.”
Marilu, Fidelia and Ric are discussing using Bernice to assist with Seb’s therapy. Ric has Marilu call Oriana to ok things. Ori wonders why Ric didn’t call himself. “—He didn’t want to bother you.” “--Yeah. Right. All right. How’s Lina?” Fine. Oriana tells ML that she and hubby are going on a business trip to Santa Domingo. ML hangs up and gives Ric the news. He gets pensive.
The doc and JL come out after the session. Dr. V tells Oriana sincerely that they had an interesting chat. He took his meds and will have to see him monthly, but that as long as he takes his medicine twice daily …blah, blah, blah (we note the samples his diligent rep was meticulous enough to provide him with)… then JL should be on the road to recovery. Oriana thinks Big Whoop inside we’re certain, but tells the doctor that it is good news.
In the meantime, back at Falcon Fortress, Mike is finishing up a call from Joquin who’s asking if he’s gotten the daily schedule [bitacora] he’d sent him. “—So then he is coming with his wife, huh?” Yes sir, says Mike. “So what about her? Is she still beautiful?” “—She’s very attractive, Sir.” (White slavers alert!!) Ho-king tells Mike he’s sending a safe-cracker(?) over there the next day. Ho casually stops his other king pin buddy from macking on a hooker in the corner to get the guy’s name—Edwin Solana--for Mike.
JL and Oriana walk into the hallway just as Mike hangs up. “—Confirming our flight plans?” Mike lies and says yes. He hands JL the report Antonio wrote up for the trip. She offers to help JL pack, but he has Mike off doing it. He thanks her for being there for him today and says that from now on she’ll see that things—and he—will be different. She smiles prettily. “--Good. I hope so. For your sake.” He goes in for The Kiss and she suddenly turns into a cold fish, turns on her heel and wordlessly walks off. He winces. The credits roll.

I will be waiting for what will be another fantastic weekend recap from you!
All I will say for now is that the direction that some of the characters are taking I am not liking one bit.
I'll bet if anyone knows the CC scenario it will be Vivi in DC!!
Fatima
Piero really stepped up for Fabi this episode. I felt like he was being supportive, without being creepy. He's been a bit creepy of late with Fabi, but this episode he was more back to his normal level-headed self.
They need to be more forceful in making Sebas tell who else he's slept with. They were too easy on him. I really hope they don't let him off the hook. And Raqui better get herself tested, ASAP!
I'm looking forward to Santo Domingo. Looks like Joaquin and his bro have the hots for Ori. I'm really worried for her being in this den of wolves with no backup.
And while she's doing this dangerous work, Ricky needs to get a friggin grip. I can't believe he is getting so pissy about the possibility that she slept with JL. What part of her being undercover in order to get her freedom is he not understanding?
Your reacap is worth the wait. ;-)
Vivi in DC, hopefully Carlos will chime in re the CCs. I don't know how to find them on the remote and don't use them.
I'm still very frustrated with where some of these characters are headed.
I guess I am a mean and cold person as I simply cannot find it in my heart to feel anything for Sebastian's situation right now. He is a selfish jerk and it boggles the mind that such a Pee Wee Herman looking dude would have had so many sexual encounters. To this day, I still scratch my head at Raquel wanting a roll in the hay with him.
Fatima
Also about Ric's behavior, after he tells her that if she has to sleep with JL he will understand, he's now acting like a complete idiot. Calling her at the house knowing that JL is there is putting her in jeopardy. He only thinks with his little Ricky.
They probably didn't want to force Sebastian to answer because he has such an explosive temper. But I thought it was nice that Lucina didn't believe Raquel when she told her that she didn't sleep with him and was still claiming to care about her and be there for her. Let's hope she gets tested.
I can't see how it would be possible for Fabiola to have HIV but not her baby. Don't they share everything?
"The risk of mother-to-child transmission of HIV can be reduced to less than 5 percent through a combination of prevention measures (PMTCT) , including antiretroviral therapy (ART) for the expectant mother and her new-born child, hygienic delivery conditions and safe infant feeding. According to new guidelines issued by the World Health Organization (WHO), a woman with HIV can breastfeed her baby in settings where it is judged to be the safest infant feeding option. She must, however, breastfeed exclusively and she or her newborn need to receive ART at the same time."
I hope that Lucina says something to Cesar about Raquel.
Would you say that this portrayal of such a young character being diagnosed with HIV could be considered a "progressive" move on the part of the writers? I think what I like about the inclusion of this issue is that, with the exception of Matilde, all of the characters have responded in a supportive and favorable fashion to Fabiola's life changing dilemma.
This will affect her for the rest of her life in terms of therapies and her future mate.
The really hard part has been to watch this totally sheltered and unprepared teenager deal not only with a pregnancy (after rape), but with this diagnosis.
This young woman faces a difficult road, but will be made easier by her family's access to treatment, etc.
Not all women are so lucky.
Fatima
Fabi is indeed very lucky to have a family with resources so that she can get the best treatment for herself and care for her child.
Yep, Raquel needs testing, even if she hadn't slept with Sebas. Surely Lucina will stay on her to do this. Besides, if Raquel wants to have a baby to milk JL, she needs to make sure her body's ready.
Ori has made it clear to JL that she's only there to help him have parental rights to Alina. She's told Ricky she's in a separate bedroom just like before. And it's not like her having sex with JL would suddenly open the floodgates and he'll give her the combo to the safe or his password. Ricky needs to trust Ori's intelligence on this.
I appreciate learning from everyone's comments and information about HIV in pregnancy. It is a very sad reality for young women in many areas of the world. Still, it certainly casts a tragic shadow on this novela and Fabiola's situation. There was a somewhat similar situation with a young male character in Las Tontas no van al cielo. In that case, his girlfriend did not contract the virus. The theme again was that his family was supportive and he went on to lead a good and healthy life, lecturing other young people about the dangers of HIV.
The Santo Domingo trip does look pretty dicey for Oriana. I guess that we will finally see Luis Gatica get some screen time. I have this feeling based on the visit to the psychiatrist that JL will end up as a kind of tragic hero. The anvil will fall, but only after he has exonerated himself somewhat and proven his true love for Oriana and Alina.
The Ricardo character, in contrast, is so juvenile even as he does most of the right things. I liked the scene between him and Sebastian yesterday. But he doesn't seem to grasp the danger that Oriana is in and how important it is that he stay away from her and that she be convincing to JL.
One more good scene was the one with Lucina and Raquel.
I am not a real emotional person, but these last two episodes have left me weepy. I think it's the most emotional I've gotten over a TN.
I guess I can't shake the "this is in appropriate" factor w/Piero. While he's being kind and protecting Fabi from her despicable mother, he's still being too pushy for me. I would feel much better if the writers allowed Fabi to grow and mature as a person as well as go to college before she decides to marry. She needs that time and no pressure to marry especially now.
ITA w/Vivi that Maddie needs to be banished. She is so abusive and Paloma needs to just kick her out again NOW. She's just waiting to unleash poison on her daughter and until she proves she won't, she needs to be gone.
And about Sebs, now that he is over his trauma, he needs to man up and list his partners. It needs to happen soon so they need to stop coddling him.
And thanks Vivi for the HIV info.
On the HIV story, I do hope they take the time to do a PSA on the risk level with condom versus the risk level without one.
Basically, use your TV remote, find the TV Control Menu, scholl to Close Captions, and from here you must figure out the steps for your TV. If you have your TV Owner's Manuel, you are in luck. If you don't have the manuel, Google Search your TV Mfg., and model #, get the manuel on line.
After all of that is done, and you still have no CC3s, Call you cable provider, and request the CCs be enabled on your TV. (especially if you have HD Digital Cable.)
As this show has taken on HIV as a story line, and can have two thirds of the characters at risk. (Racheal Ray slept with Seabass, JL, and Ceaser.) She could be more the HIV "Hub" for the characters than Seabass. If JL sleeps with Orines, who then sleeps with Pretty Ricky, who may sleep with Marylulu....etc.
"What a tangle webb we weave...."
Suggested title : Lying, Crying, Spying and Dying
LOL - the no-tell, motel office. I did spy Luis with one of the girls who has been seen hanging on Joaquin. What a nice bunch of guys! Low-lifes for sure. More trouble for JL as he tries to defend Oriana from that bunch.
LeeFox - you have the themes right for this one. I do think that PSA values will prevail, however, and that Sebastian and Fabiola will find a way to live productively with their illness. After last night, with his soft words about Fabiola, Sebastian will be redeemed as a character -- only my guess. Raquel is another story and I am so hopeful that Cesar will be okay.
Fatima, I agree with you that Fabi has really been put through the ringer in this tn - the rape, the pregnancy, HIV!!! That's quite a lot to deal with when you're only 18.
Ric is beginning to annoy me so much. All he seems to care about is if Oriana is sleeping with JL or not.
Guess what, stud! She has done it a million times in the past and she might have to do it now, too, to SAVE her life. Geez, I understand that he's upset over this, but would he rather she died?
Raquel has been portrayed as a sexually active character from the very beginning. She has a lot of sex and she enjoys it, sometimes just for the fun of it, not to trap a man.
We don't know that she hasn't used condoms, yet, so maybe she's safe.
Because, if she's sick, I guess the writers' message is pretty clear: having lots of sex and enjoying it is bad, bad, bad.
I checked back in to see if there were any other comments and there it was, staring at me. I'm the best editor ... AFTER I hit send.
Cathyx, you took those words about JL right off my keyboard. Oriana needs to know he's at risk because of his relations with Raquel.
She offered herself to Ricardo not because, hey sex is fun, but because she was hoping to slither her way into a relationship with him.
He pointedly used a condom.
She slept with Sebastian to stick it to Ricardo. She was probably hoping to throw that in Ric's face but this HIV thing has put a stop to that.
She slept with Cesar to prove she was irresistible to any man and she slept with Jose Luis to stick it to Oriana. She'd be sleeping with Mike if this HIV thing didn't slow her down.
She offered herself to Ricardo not because, hey sex is fun, but because she was hoping to slither her way into a relationship with him.

I can't find the words for Mathilde, despicable and intolerable woman, Lucina said well once: bad mother. I would deport right in the middle of a desert, and let her shout there. Lety Perdigón forms her character fantastically. She had a similar character, Catalina in Primer amor, but Matilde is more hateful. A mother should support her daughter in difficult situations.
The following fantastic scene is of Raquel. Her face-game was superb, then the crying in the room.
I didn't like Fidelia's ado when Seba arrived. "Es un enfermo no un monstro." I agree with Marilu's sentence.
I can not believe, finally Seba realized Ricardope is not a bad boy, and they were talking with normal tone.
I can't bear TN Crazy ego of JL, when our main villain cries or roars. We have an enough much crying heroine and a similar much crying main villain. They are too much at the same time for me.
When people found out about it, they were so happy and thrilled because they could continue with their "at risk" behaviors". I'd have people calling me up with outright glee in their voices! The drug company tried to make it very hard to get that drug. Those nuts thought that they are industestructable. Seriously, I felt ill when I approved that drug. I'm glad i don't work there any more.
I'm looking forward to seeing Matilde get her comeuppance by the end of this TN. She's off her rockers and gets worse by each passing episode. She would rather insult her own daughter than support her.
The diagnosis just might prove to make Seba turn his life around. He does seem genuinely scared. We will see how it plays out.

No everyone possibly exposed in Hermosillo will get HIV. I certainly hope that Cesar is not infected and I agree with those who doubt that Raquel will have the disease. Maybe it will be limited to Sebastian and Fabiola, though the possibility of JL being ill could further complicate things with Oriana so I would guess that there will be some speculation about this as the tension builds in their relationship.
Marilu and Mariano do seem like a nice pair, though I had been hoping that Marilu would team up with Cesar. I'm still betting that our man of the plaid cloth returns to it in the end. Just a crazy guess, but inasmuch as he continues to function as the neighborhood priest, it seems to be a role that he values./
I had to tune out during Madhilda's cruelty to Fabi. The whole family needs to get a restraining order and block Mad from coming near them.
Ori should've taken up Paloma on her offer of a second credit card. Maybe I'm crazy but I'm not worried about Ori having sex with JL. She wields much more power not having sex with him and I think she sees this.
Ricardope is so spot on. I like Ricky, but when he gets hung up on the sex thing (Ori having sex with him or JL), I want to slap him.
I wouldn't fault Marilu for trying to push the envelope and getting Ricky to sleep with her. If he willingly gives in (because of his jealousy and insecurity about Ori), then that's his problem. I would be very disappointed in him if he did. If Ori sleeps with JL, it's because she has to. If he sleeps with Marilu, it will be because he (or his little Ricky) wants to.
I am hoping and expecting that the HIV spread will end with Sebas and Fabi, and that Raqui will be in the clear (and Cesar and JL). But this scare will hopefully make Raqui think harder about some of her choices in the future. I really enjoyed her scene with Lucina. Everyone should have a friend like Lucina. She'll slap you around when you're wrong; tell you off when you're being a b!tch; but she'll always be in your corner when you need her. In that way, she and Mariano are very alike. I haven't given up my hope that somehow these two will end up together. :)
Fatima...who enjoys a good face to face convo.
