El Campo
Ceferino arrives to threaten the campesinos. He makes them
an offer he hopes they can't refuse. Before his goons can make good on
his threat, the police chief pulls up (egads, I always forget his name).
Ceferino tries to act all innocent but the chief isn't fooled. He tells
Ceferino to take his goons and scram!
San Carlos
Mariano leads a seaside ceremony for the real Inez (poor thing
doesn’t even get a real cura) Paloma scatters her granddaughter’s ashes
on the water.
Hermosillo
Ceferino calls JL and gives him the bad news that the good guys
won again. JL is furious. He wants Ceferino to kill someone, or do
something – anything. He needs the
campesinos to fear him. Ceferino backs off, saying it’s too risky right
now. JL doesn't give up. He calls in Mike and orders him to do his
dirty work. Mike immediately calls Joaquin to tell him JL ordered him to
kill a campesino. He also takes the opportunity to tell him JL is working out
the custody of his child with Oriana. Joaquin barks and kicks everyone
out of his office. He tells Mike about the recording JL supposedly made,
detailing all of Joaquin's dastardly deeds. He orders Mike to find said
recording and then kill JL.
The next day JL, Marilu, and Ricardo meet with the judge regarding
Alina’s custody. Ricardo brings in one more witness to
testify......Alina. The little lamb is understandably very afraid. JL
tells Ricardo this is a dirty trick. The Judge wisely takes Alina aside
to talk. Alina tells him she doesn't want to live with her dad. She tells
him of the day daddy played fútbol w/Tito and mistook him for the ball. She tells him JL
told her Tito was dead. She admits JL never hit her but she still doesn’t
want to live with him. She’s afraid of him.
The judge returns to his chambers and excuses Marilu so she can go
watch Alina. He tells JL he now knows of the Doggie Dropkick incident.
JL begins to protest. Antonio, who's acting as his lawyer butts in before
JL can make things worse. "My client is innocent. The incident with
the dog was an accident. He would be incapable of mistreating his
daughter." Manriquez butts in, pointing out the psychological damage
done to the little girl. The judge feels JL should undergo psychological
treatment for his bipolar condition. JL loses it. "Bipolar?! What's
wrong with you? I'm not loco!!" The judge continues, saying that
while JL is in treatment he can only see his daughter once a week. He rules
that the Señores Aresti Breton will have custody for the time being. JL
continues to scream and protest as Antonio drags him out of the room.
Unfortunately, Alina is right outside the offce and witnesses yet another
outburst from Daddy Dearest. She runs to Marilu's arms. Inside the
office, Ricardo asks the judge if he really thinks it possible for this man to
be cured.
Elsewhere in Hermosillo, Marilu and Fidelia have done some major
shopping for Alina. Fidelia just wants her to be happy. As they're
rushing about, Ruben comes upon them and after a few niceties, he tells
Fidelia that he's divorcing Matilde. He's had enough. He tells her it was
nice to see her, and reluctantly walks away, almost taking their bags with him.
Marilu teases her aunt about how nervous Ruben was when he saw
her.
Back at Paloma's, Ricardo tells Oriana the news. He and Marilu
have custody of Alina; however, JL can regain custody if he undergoes
treatment. He also gives her the bad news that the judge is allowing JL weekly
visits with Alina. Oriana frets about this, knowing JL's ultimate goal is
to get custody of Alina. Ricardo tells her not to worry. The
treatment will take time, time that she can use to gather the evidence Homero
needs. She worries JL will use those weekly visits to poison Alina
against her. Ricardo reminds her that Alina is one smart galletita and
won't fall for his lies. Besides, she'll be living with Ricardo and
Marilu and she'll only hear good things about Oriana at their house.
JL's House of Horrors
He calls Oriana to tell her to pack her bags cuz he's coming for
her tomorrow. She tells him not to bother. She'll drive herself. As
she’s packing, Alina comes in and Oriana fibs that she’s going on a trip.
JL is on his way out. Mike tries to tag along but JL isn't
going to let that happen. Instead, he tells Mike to call the maids to
tell them their vacay is over, call the employment agency about hiring a
butler, and then go to Antonio for a job. He doesn't want Mike at his
house any longer. He doesn't care what Mike does, he just doesn't want to
see him again.
Before he can make it out of the house, JL gets a call from Dr.
Veronese, all around MD and psychiatrist, calling to make an appointment with
JL. JL tells him to go to hell cuz he doesn't have any problems.
Once JL is gone, Mike calls Joaquin and tells him Mrs. Zorra is
moving back in, sans baby Zorra. He also snitches that JL hasn't been
able to patch things up with the cotton growers and weavers. He also
tells him Zorro has kicked him out of the house. Joaquin orders him to
find a hotel room somewhere. Mike brings him up to date on his other
task. He got into JL's computer but he was unable to break through the
passwords. He also searched the house, but found nothing. There is a safe
in the office, but Mike doesn't know anything about safes. Joaquin promises to
send him an expert. Joaquin starts beating his drums and wonders aloud why he
doesn't just have JL whacked, once and for all.
JL's Hotel
JL returns to his room and finds Raquel waiting for him. He's
in a foul mood. He tells her about the goings on. Raquel tries flirting,
but he's not in the mood. He explains Oriana is moving in tomorrow.
He knows that through her, he can regain custody of Alina. "What
about me?"asks Raquel. He tells her nothing's changed. "Of course,
I continue to be your lover," she complains. He tells her to stop
with the melodrama, she always knew the score. She complains she can't
continue to live with Lucina. She's always scolding her and trying to get info
out of her. uh-oh. This piques his interest. Raquel
tells him Lucina surely goes and tells Oriana, Ricky, or Manolo everything.
JL grabs her by the throat demanding to know what she's told Lucina.
Raquel can't imagine what she could tell her since she doesn't really
know anything about him. He gets smarmy with her and asks if she's still
interested in that apartment. He doesn't want to buy, only rent. It’s
not convenient for them to tie themselves down here when tomorrow they can just
take off to the Caribbean or Europe. "What about your mujer?"
she asks. He doesn't care about her. As for the child, she'll stay
with them. Raquel whines that she doesn't really care for children. He
tells her if she wants him, she'll have to accept his daughter. She throws
him on the bed and well, you know what comes next.
Hospital
Ricky visits Sebastian. Seba assumes he's only there to gloat. He
asks if Ricky is aware that he inherited La Loca's epilepsy. He figures Ricky
must surely be laughing at him. Ricky denies this of course and explains
he's there to ask him to move in with him. Fidelia, Marilu and Ricky can
take care of him there. Seba lashes out that he wants nothing from Ricky, or
the special treatment. He doesn't want their pity either. He
doesn't want them to treat him the way they treated Maria. If Ricky's so
worried why doesn't he just leave? Just the sight of him makes his
stomach turn. He plans to return to his apartment and watch out for
himself. He wants to know what happened to Benigno. Ricky tells him Benny
is already in the pen, serving time for attempted murder. Seba hopes
he rots there. He rudely dismisses Ricky, telling him he never wants to
see him again.
Trejo Bonfil
Antonio interviews Mike. Mike tells him he knows about electronics
and has experience in computer technology. Antonio puts him in charge of
the computers and offers him 15,000 pesos a month. (what?)
Mike agrees with me and tells him that won't nearly be enough and besides,
he'll need a car. When Antonio balks at his attitude, Mike reminds him
that the money isn't theirs, it's Joaquin's. He dares Antonio to call
Joaquin and ask him what he thinks. He walks out and doesn't stop when Antonio
calls after him.
Judge's chambers
Doctor Veronese calls the judge and tells him of JL's rude response
to his call. The doc tells him JL's one sick puppy. He also offers his
opinion that he wouldn't consider giving JL custody of Alina, even if he
underwent treatment. This therapy is a lifelong commitment. If JL
even considered undergoing treatment, he'd probably only do it for a short
time. The judge insists JL just needs a chance. He calls JL himself.
He warns JL that if he doesn't obey the court order for treatment, he'll never
regain custody of Alina and lose the visitation rights. This leaves JL
impactado.
Casa de Paloma
Matilde cries to Paloma that she doesn't want a divorce.
What will people say? They'll think she failed as a wife. Add to
that Fabiola's pregnancy, and they'll say she failed as a mother as well.
Everyone will gossip. Let them gossip, says Paloma.
"They gossiped about me too when Palomita left. And now, no
one even remembers." Matilde reminds her that was long ago and
people do remember. She asks Paloma not to give Ruben money for the
divorce and to convince Fabi to marry somebody. Paloma doesn't want to
get involved (too late), period. Matilde wonders if Paloma no longer
loves her, even a little bit? Paloma tells her that, despite everything, she
still loves her. But she believes everyone has a right to live
their own life. Matilda starts to bad mouth Palomita but Paloma stops her
in midsentence. She warns her not to talk about Palomita or she'll throw
her out (again).
Oriana comes in to say good-bye to Paloma. Matilde leaves
without saying anything else. Oriana and Paloma shed a few tears as they
say goodbye. Paloma asks if maybe she should ask Homer for a gun.
Oriana laughs at the idea and tells her not to worry. She thanks
Paloma again for taking her in even though they're nothing to each other.
Paloma corrects her, saying she's everything. She came and enlightened
her life and she'll always be grateful.
Hotel Casa Bonita
Raquel brags to Lucina that JL will be buying, rather renting, her
an apartment tomorrow. Renting, because one day they'll leave to live
abroad. Granted, she'll have to put up with the little girl for awhile but it
will be in a mansion in Europe or a big house on the beach. Lucina laughs
at her stupidity. He's deceiving her. When he's done with her he'll
dump her on the street like a common prostitute. Raquel repeats this will
never happen because she knows his little secrets. Lucina asks about
these secrets and when Raquel doesn't tell, she warns he may end up killing
her. Raquel says Lucina is just jealous because she managed to nab a
young, handsome, rich thing that Lucina never managed to get for herself.
Ruben joins Lucina. She tells him she's worried about Raquel
who stubbornly insists on being JL's lover. He's the worst but Raquel
refuses to see it. Ruben doesn't like him either but he's under the
impression that Lucina knows a lot more about "Francisco Castro" than
anyone else. He asks her to tell him what she knows. Lucina is
reluctant to talk about JL. He's hardly worth the effort. It's
Raquel she's worried about. Ruben's noticed Cesar's attraction to Raquel.
Lucina tells him to advise Cesar to find someone more worthy of him. For
no reason should Cesar consider getting involved with Raquel. He'll end
up getting burned. Lucina asks about Ruben's news. He tells her
Paloma has offered to pay for the divorce and Matilde will have no other choice
but to accept it. Lucina toasts to this news.
Casa de Paloma
Oriana and Ricardo meet for their goodbye. He thinks Paloma’s
gun offer was a good idea. He's worried and she tells him she has to do this to
get on with her life. He suggests they see each other now and then.
She doesn't think that would be a good idea. She may not even be
able to see Alina for awhile. He can't help feeling this is goodbye.
“This isn’t goodbye,” she says. “You have my daughter. Please
understand.” She runs upstairs.
After she's gone, JL suddenly appears and demands to know what
Ricardo is doing there. Ricardo defiantly says he's there to see the
woman he loves. This infuriates JL who jumps into action, kicking Ricky,
followed by a left cross. When Ricky is still down, JL grabs a vase and
shatters it over Ricky's back. Oriana comes running, screaming for him to
leave Ricky alone. Ricky manages to get up and kicks back, slugging JL
and swinging him around and throwing him against the wall. POW! He swings him around again. SWOOSH! and stomps on his knee while
he's down. CRUNCH! JL screams
out in pain. OWWW! Ricky picks up a
vase of flowers and stands over a writhing JL as Oriana screams for him to
stop. Just as it seems he's about to finish off JL, we hear a shout.
Our friendly Geriatric Spy has come to the rescue, carrying a very large
gun. He scolds them for their barbaric behavior in a lady's presence.
JL protests that this imbecile will use any pretext to seduce his wife.
Homer assures him Ricky needs no pretext. He seduced her long ago.
The police chief has joined the fracas asking Homer what he'd like him to do
with these two. Should they arrest them? Nah says Gramps. This is just a
lover’s quarrel. He tells everyone to go home. Oriana argues that they're both
hurt. In that case, they should go to the hospital, says Gramps. He tells
the Chief to escort them lest they resume their fight down the street.
Oriana worries that they're both very hurt. Gramps tells her
not to worry. They're both young, healthy men. They'll be good as new in
a few days. Oriana tells him JL wants her to move in tomorrow. Gramps
jokes she can then play the role of nurse, and cure him. She takes offense at
his jocular manner. Gramps thinks two grown men fighting like animals can't
be taken seriously.
Elsewhere in the house, Fabi announces to Matidle about her plan
to take a year off from University and she doesn't plan to get married.
Matilde agrees that marrying Seba may not be such a hot idea, but maybe
she should consider one of the two gents that have shown interest. Fabi thinks
of them as friends. She doesn't want a marriage like Matilde's. She wants
to marry a man who loves her. She's come to realize it's been some time since
her parents were in love. Perhaps they never loved each other. She
doesn't want the same thing to happen to her.
Homer, Paloma, and Oriana gather in Paloma's room. Paloma
and Homer are both worried about JL's violent tendencies despite Oriana's insistence
that he's never hurt her. There's always a first time, warns Paloma.
Homer agrees but he's got a guy who can protect her -- Mike Rodriguez.
Oh yeah, he’s undercover. (great going Gramps --tell everyone and
Mike won’t be undercover much longer). Mike calls just then to tell him JL's
booted him from the house. He thought it would be a good idea to work at the
office so he can watch Oriana from there and help her with the computer stuff. Gramps
isn't happy about this since he needs someone to watch over Oriana at JL's
house. Mike then tells him JL asked him to get a butler from the
employment office. FOCO!!!
Gramps will have someone from the Agency fill in the butler job!
Hospital
Ricky, sporting a sling, runs into Dr. Veronese. Doc tells him
about JL's rudeness. They discuss Seba's condition. He's had
some ups and downs. He's responding well to treatment and they're running
more tests.
Doc next calls Oriana and tells her about JL's refusal of
treatment. Doc refuses to give up and tells Oriana that if she sees him
at JL's, she should act as though she doesn't know him. He doesn't want
JL to know he's good friends with Paloma (conflict of interest anyone?)
JL's house
JL's complaining, as usual. He's on crutches and complaining
to Mike about how long it's taking to hire a butler. He also complains
the maids won't be arriving until tomorrow.
Bungalo Azul
Celio is tending to Ricky. Ricky receives a call from Oriana
who urges him to avoid further conflicts with JL. She tells him of
Homer's plan to plant a bodyguard/butler in the house for her safety. The plan
is for her to take Alina to school in the morning and then she'll go to JL's
house. She repeats her gratitude for everything he's done for her and her
daughter. She's his life, and he hers. He'll always be her gran
amor, no matter what happens. tearful goodbye......
Avances
yet another tearful
goodbye between mommy and daughter
JL is become even more unhinged
bad news about Seba.....but what??? Has he met his anvil?
