Por siempre mi amor #30 1/15/2014: Rumors of Feo's Demise Are Greatly Exaggerated

Recap by J Desde NYC

Many thanks to Corazon de Salvaje for filling in for me last week.  Bronchitis is the devil. Prayer and Mucinex works.

Scenes, as usual, are combined

Lo Refrito:
Feo is truly the ugliest woman in creation as he and his two fellow minions flee the jail in Sucia's convertible. It's all very Thelma and Louise except for the cliff. The two minions thank Sucia and run off.
A prison official says that the body they found and the smoke means that this scene was planned.
Lo Nuevo:

Some Heart to Hearts, Some Truer Than Others
As Art and Isa come home they hear blaring music. Upstairs is Dafne luxuriating in Ara's room.  She smiles and sits in this cool nest/swing thingamabob Ara has. Isa comes up to investigate and sees it's Dafne.  She didn't go to the movies with Este and Ara since she didn't feel like it (no tenia muchas ganas).  Isa asks Dafne how she is doing. Dafne says same as always.  Sometimes she feels normal but then she feels alone and depressed (deprimida).  Isa tells her not to feel alone since she has Ara, Isa and Art and her parents.  (The face Dafne makes as Isa commiserates is classic, as if she realizes all the bad things Ara and her have been saying about Isa are dead wrong).  Dafne continues by saying she hasn't mattered to her parents for many years. Isa tells Dafne to have a heart-to-heart with them as she is with her and things would go differently.  Dafne says if only Isa were her step mother things would be different.  Ara is lucky that Art chose Isa to be his wife since she has been more than a stepmother to Ara, but a mother.  Isa has this look of relief in response as if she has wanted someone to acknowledge that she has been a caring step-mother to Ara and says as much.  "I had the hope that one day Aranza would say that to me." Dafne says she and Ileana have been telling Ara that she has a good step-mother but Ara has been tonta to not recognize it, but one day she will because deep-down she does love you.  (And this is where I put on my skeptical hat.  I doubt Dafne has been singing Isa's praises, even though I'm sure Ileana has and it is a bit hypocritical of Dafne to say so). Isa is all hopeful though, and starts crying and telling Dafne she's grateful for the heart-to-heart and that if Dafne needs anything to let her know.  She hugs Dafne and we see Dafne's emotion-laden face. She looks shocked that Isa is a good woman and grateful for the hug as she closes her eyes and savors it. "Seriously, Isabel," Dafne says after the hug, "I wish my step-mother was someone like you."

Bruno and Ally chat about Gaby and why Bruno went to Spain. Ally mentions that she and Gaby are very similar. "No," Bruno insists, "she's wheat colored, dark-haired..." "Not on the outside," says Ally, "the inside." "We're both free spirits, without ties or commitments." Bruno says that while they are similar in that way, they are different because unlike Gaby, Ally knows how to love. Ally asks if Bruno is sure because she gets the impression that Gaby still has feelings for him.  Bruno says he doesn't care what Gaby feels or felt because he's with the woman he loves.  Ally doesn't look so sure, and neither does Viewerville, even as Bruno seals it with a kiss.

We get another "Caigamos en oracion" from Tita as she and Zenaida discuss how they will hide that Tita is a biker from Bruno and Ally because if Bruno finds out he'll kill her. (Sara, what's the count thus far?).

Ozzie and Balthazar talk about Ozzie asking out Tita again. Balthy says you both are single and ready to mingle so go for it!

Dafne is still in Casa Isa/Art and picks up the phone and hears from the jail authorities.  Isa gets the phone in time to be told the details--that Feo died in a jailhouse fire. Isa drops the glass she had in her hand and sits down.  She then begs the jailer to not call her ever again about Feo since he's been out of her life for years.  The jailer reminds her that she was the in case of emergency contact in his file and it was his duty to tell her the delincuente is dead.

Daniel Returns
At Avocado House, aka Casa Don Hilberto, a handsome and grown-up, Esteban look-alike Daniel arrives to Cuca, Hilberto and the priest's joy. Hilberto asks Cuca if Sucia hasn't shown up yet since she promised she would come. Nope, she isn't around, Cuca says. Hilberto calls Sucia as she's playing Bonnie and Clyde with Feo--He does look handsome without the beard and goatee, but he still looks like George Hamilton's broke cousin--and makes up the excuse that she can't see her brother since she's helping a friend get to the hospital.  She quickly deflects when dear padrastro offers assistance.  She makes sure she calls him "papito", tells Hilberto to give Daniel a kiss for her and promises to be at Daniel's welcome home dinner in time for dessert.

After Sucia takes Don Hilberto's call, Feo tells Sucia he's staying with her.  She protests since her sugar daddy, el ruco (Word Reference says it means "old and worn-out"), will be coming in and out the apartment. He can only stay in a girl's apartment--this sounds like a maid/housekeeper residence in her building--if someone can explain, please do in the comments.  When they get to the building she gives Feo the keys to the room and her apartment and tells him to be very careful--he should only use the service entrance--to make sure a Rodolfo doesn't see him.

Esteban: Still too Good for Ara and a Credit to his Parents
Esteban and Aranza are celebrating their six month anniversary and talk about their lives so far--how when they were kids they and their parents would watch the same two animated films over and over and how their families went to Orlando--Disneyworld I'm presuming--together as well.  Then Esteban says he has a surprise for Ara; it's a little blue box with, of course, the marriage certificate from the kermes, including the rings and the picture. (I told you guys he would save these things).
Este then gives a spiel about how he loves everything about Ara and will forever and they kiss. Este tells Ara they should wait to have sex until it's the right time and special instead of rushing ahead.

Ding, Dong Feo is Dead
Art reminds Viewerville why he's the galan as he skillfully comforts an Isa obviously impactada by the news that Feo is dead.  He always tells Isa that they have to tell Andy in person that Feo is dead since that's something you can't say on the phone.  (Where was this kind, reasonable man with common sense when he was running off and getting married way too soon over his traumatized daughter's objection?)  Moving on...Isa also tells Art that Dafne might know about Feo since she initially answered the phone, so Art says we'll have to tell Ara too since surely Dafne will tell her something about the call.

Isa and Andy are at Mau’s and Andy's telling her about Feo's demise. Meanie is glad he's dead and got a little taste of his eternal abode, hell, with the jailhouse fire.  Andy says Meanie shouldn't talk that way about the father of her kids and Meanie, and I have to give it to her here, says that Mau is the father of Andy's kids.  He's given them everything, even his last name when he adopted them, so Andy shouldn't feel even say Feo is their father ever again. Mau says that Andy didn't mean to say Feo was the boys' dad to offend him; Meanie insists that saying Feo is the father of her boys is to be ungrateful because Mau has earned the right to be called Papa by Esteban and Angelito. (As much as Meanie is foul, she's always a little, or a lot, right when she's being mean, which is why I like her character. She won my heart with the Feo sartenazo). Andy apologizes to Mau, who, being the great man he is, tells her there's nothing to apologize for.  Andy asks who is going to claim Feo's body and Isa looks as if she's going to faint at the thought she, as the emergency contact, has to do it.  Andy and Art decide to do it to Andy and Isa's gratitude.
Meanie then tells Andy to stop with the sad face; she should be glad that moocher (mantenido) Feo is off the face of the earth since her sons don't have to carry the weight of him being their bio father on their shoulders.

Two Dirtbags, Still Dirtbagging After All These Years
Feo goes to Sucia's apartment and takes her food and calls Efrain aka Unholy Methuselah who asks what name he's going to use from now on. Sucia makes it to Don Hilberto's as everyone is leaving.  She greets Daniel warmly and offers to plan his official fancy-pants, coming out/introduction to society welcome party Hilberto wants.  Daniel, however, looks at Sucia as if he smells something bad and wants nothing to do with her.  Surely his military school training in the U.S. taught him to smell a perp because he looks at Sucia as if he would arrest her if he had handcuffs.

Back at her house, Sucia upbraids Feo for being at her apartment when the ruco could show up anytime and being on her laptop. Feo is transferring money to his account to start over and after having spoken to Efrain he’s decided to go by the name Javier Castillo de la Fuente since he knows of a guy who just died with that name.  Feo and Sucia watch the news and see that the escape plan worked since he's presumed dead and the two accomplices are his presumed killers who escape.  Feo and Sucia do the nasty, which we thankfully don’t see.

Ozzie and Tita: Never Too Late
Ozzie comes over Tita's with flowers and asks her out.  She says yes and offers to make him by hand a pineapple upside down cake--did I get this right?—and they’ll eat in the garden/patio. Bruno is snoopy through the window and sees Ozzie and Tita and he’s perturbed that his mother is dating again and says so to Ally.  Ally says Tita has the right to start over again with another man since she's young, jovial and full of passion, to which Bruno gives a yuck face since he doesn't want to think of his mother doing the Southside slippery slide with anyone. Over coffee and cake in Tita's garden, Ozzie pulls out all the stops.  He complements Tita's cake, saying she has the hands of an angel and the rest of her is angelic too. Tita blushes, wondering if Zenaida put something in his coffee but Ozzie comes on stronger than Cuban coffee and asks Tita directly if he could court her again. Ozzie tells her he's never forgotten her and Tita says she hasn't forgotten their kiss from 10 years ago and she doesn't want that kiss to be the only memory they have so she says yes.

Esteban Finds Out from the Papers Feo Dad is Dead; Ara the Hater Swings and Misses
Feo's death is front page news and Gaby shows Isa, who lets her know she already knew.  Gaby says Feo's death is a relief since he had promised to get revenge on Isa and Art.

Este is driving on the street and picks up a paper from a newspaper hawker and finds out his bio Dad is dead. He's so impactado the other drivers have to honk their horns to get him out of the green light at the intersection.

At Casa Art/Isa Ara tries to throw shade on Isa for being associated with a criminal because of the call from the jail.  Art lets the little bad seed know he knew all about Feo since Isa was the one who put him jail and he and Isa have no secrets.

Avances:

Este confronts Mau and Andy about how he had to find out from the papers Feo was dead.
Sucia rifles through Sugar Daddy's phone and he's not happy.
Ara hears Art and Isa talking about the baby coming and thinks she'll be unloved once the baby is born.
Art and Isa find out they're having a boy!
Este tells Ara his bio dad dying and connects it to Isa's first hubby.
Tita is revealed as the mystery food giver to Marinela's "kids."

Glad your feeling better, J. Thanks for getting this up so quickly. Fabulous title. I gotta go catch last night's ep of QPTR, but I'll be up early tomorrow to read this. I can't wait to read your take on tonight's shenanigans.

Thank you J for a speedy recap and I'm so happy that you have kicked the bronchitis bug. It's a tough one. Yep,the power of prayer is amazing.
Deep down inside Ally knows that Bruno married her on the rebound even though it was five years later and that he still has feelings for Gaby and Gaby has feelings for him. Regarding Ally, first comes denial and eventually there will be acceptance. Poor thing.
Feo looking like George Hamilton's broke cousin- hahaha!! Why is Feo so lucky and he is a computer whiz, talk about rehabilitation.
Feo and Sonia doing the nasty- ewwwww!!!!!
Why is Methuselah free and still involved in illegal business dealings?
I am trying to see the goodness in Ara that Vivi sees. She is so loving around Esteban but other than that she leaves nothing to be desired. She is so poisoned by Sucia that she doesn't think rationally and doesn't realize it. She can so very hateful.
On a brighter note, the scenes with Oso and Tita are adorable. Balthy is such an asset to Oso. He tells it like it is.

Thanks Sara! I feel so much better and was in great spirits to do this recap. I hope everyone likes it. I'm gonna catch up on MPV and catch the first ep of La Impostora. I want to catch up on Pobres too, but I have no time.

TJ, I think Ara is redeemable. She was the only one who was nice to Ally when she showed up. Everyone else was in shock and upset that they were rude giving her the silent treatment. The fact that she is going out with Este, who's not rich and vain says there is good in her; and when he was telling her how important to him she was, I saw the old Ara in her face. I don't think I'll like her for long, but I know she's redeemable.

TJ- Everything that J said.

J- I'm so glad you're feeling better and have given us another of your great recaps.

The scene between Dafne and Isa was interesting, with its mix of sincerity and falsehood. Dafne totally badmouths Isa when she's with Ara. I think it's just jealousy because Ara has what she wishes she had. That hug with Isa was sincere. You could see the longing on Daf's face.

Now we have confirmation that Sonia and Feo are more than partners in crime. They also like getting in on with each other. Mari being Feo's daughter is looking like more of a possibility. We also got a hint about how long they've known each other. Sonia whines about Gil not throwing her a sweet 15 party, like the coming out party Daniel is having. And Feo reminded her that SHE'S the one who didn't want it. That means he's known her since she was a teen.

Like I said about Meanie before-- even a broken clock is right twice a day. She's totally right about Feo, and tight that Mau was a great choice. But I don't think she respects Mau for the good man he is-- just for what he has and provide her (and Andy and the kids).

Great work, J.

One thing is really bothering me about the fire and the dead body (or bodies): For some years now our military has taken DNA samples from all personnel in the event of a death like that where identifying the body via facial features or fingerprints is not possible. Shouldn't prison officials do the same?

Dafne really bothers me; she's looking to do down a similar path to Sonia. I can see a connexion.

The idea of Feonando being Marianela's father is sickening.

It also won't be pretty when Feo goes after Isabel and when Esteban encounters him.

J and Vivi you both have a point, I'll hang in there for Ara's sake.

Esteban definitely brings out the best in Ara. I think that's why Sonia is trying to convince Ara to dump him, because Este brings out the good in her, and Sonia wants to destroy every bit of good in Ara. Dafne wants them to break up because she's jealous of Ara. From the way she was opening up drawers and soaking up Ara's room we can see she envies Ara's possessions. She wants Ara's stepmom; she wants Ara's dad; and I think she wants Ara's boyfriend too.

Ara was actually being a good friend to Dafne these last few episodes-- listening to her troubles, offering up her family and home to spend Father's day, offering to let her come on her 6 month anniversary date with her boyfriend, and letting her stay in her room the evening and even spend the night.

J:

Thanks for this marvelous recap.

So agree with everything Vivi said about Dafne and Ara. I just hope Ara at least is redeemed in the end. Este does bring out the best in Ara, and I agree with TJ in that respect. I can't wait to see when finally all of So-not's lies are revealed to Ara. How will she cope?

I am really loving Tita and Ozzie, how cute are they? I am so glad they are getting another chance.

I'm on the fence about Ally. She seems to be grounded, she is a mite jealous of Gaby, but not overly so, I think. I really liked what she said to Bruno about Tita, that was very cute, and I agree with J about the slippery slide, lol. No child wants to think of their parents or parent doing that ; )

Can't stand that Feo is now out of jail. I had a feeling that So-not and Feo had been doing it. Ewwwww is right.

J so glad you are getting over the bronchitis and are feeling much better. Prayer does work!

Urban:

I know what you mean about the military and DNA they do do that. They were thinking of doing that for prisoners here in the U.S. But some states are balking due to the privacy issue. I know some states do that as the federal system does. I don't know if they do this in Mexico. TNs never seem to use the current laws do they? They have their own TN law it seems ; )

Terrific recap J! I LOL'd at "Southside Slippery Slide", I've never heard that one before. ;)

We're slowly learning more about the Sonia/Fernando relationship. Now I'm starting to wonder if Sonia had anything to do with her own mother's demise? In addition, if she was involved with Fernando way back then, Gilberto may know who he is.

I am totally on Meanie's side with regard to who is the "father" of Andrea's kids. I don't like her much, but when she's right, she's right.

Xlt, I got Southside slippery slide bit from this hilarious blogger called Luvvie from awesomelyluvvie dot com.

I always thought Sonia killed her mother too because she never talks about her. The fact that Feo knew Sucia when they were teens caught my ear too, but I didn't put it together as Vivi did that it means Feo is Marinela's dad. Bless that poor child if she has those two as Bio parents.

Meanie was right about Mau being the boys real dad. Meanie is still an interesting enigma to me. She insults her niña and nietos but her critiques are usually right but she's so mean about it, you can't really take her side. Plus, she does read people well. She did act in Andy and Mau's best interest by nudging them closer, but for her own selfish reasons. But I can't blame her for wanting things that serve her kid's interest and her's as well.

Totally agree with everyone who says Este is the key to keeping Ara from the dark side. And yes, Ara has been a great friend to Dafne and Dafne is jealous of Ara's life. She really did enjoy that hug Isa gave her and I think she meant it when she said it would be great if Isa were her madrastra.

A home run recap! I love your description of the Ozzie and Tita scene. "Comes on stronger than Cuban coffee" is wonderful.

Somewhere deep down there is a kind spark in Ara, but she is surrounded by people who are determined to makenher cynical and bitter (I mean you, Dafne and Sonia.)

Min is a frustrating character. Pretty much right 99% of the time but she's such a beyotch about it.

The avances I saw last night made it look like Feo might be getting plastic surgery. I hope the fix his nose which has not looked right to me since the beginning.

J desde NYC, great title and fabulous recap. So glad you are feeling better after your bout with bronchitis. Thank you for all your work on this. The embedded vocabulary was an extra treat.

"It's all very Thelma and Louise except for the cliff" was excellent! Other great lines were "but he still looks like George Hamilton's broke cousin", "Southside slippery slide" and last but not least " Surely his military school training in the U.S. taught him to smell a perp because he looks at Sucia as if he would arrest her if he had handcuffs".

“Tita says she hasn't forgotten their kiss from 10 years ago”. Really?? Who would have guessed one kiss from Ozzie would be so unforgettable?

J, Your arguments about Meanie were so well stated, you persuaded me to reconsider my opinion slightly (which is amazing considering I loath the character). But, I have to admit, she does have some good points although Vivi said it best: “even a broken clock is right twice a day”. Snort.

Esteban is a junior dream boat. How sweet and romantic that he saved the rings and marriage certificate. As you noted J, "Esteban: Still too Good for Ara and a Credit to his Parents". Totally agree on all counts. Tablet jefa, I'm with you in trying to see Ara's virtues but agree that other than her relationship with Este, I'm not seeing any sort of sweetness or light. I hope that changes. It was a shame Este had to learn of Feo's "death" in such a manner. The poor kid.

Also enjoyed the Isa/Dafne scenes. Isa's character is so sweet (and Susana is as always, very appealing). think you are right Vivi, Dafne would love to step into Ara's life - she covets what she has.

Very concerned for Isa and Andy...I wondered if Feo was going to have plastic surgery from the previews, thanks for mentioning that Sara.

Thanks again J!

Diana

JDNYC great. George Hamilton yes and Southside slippery LOL

Daphne - I agree she wants Aranzas life including her bf and if I didn't know better, a chip off the ole Sonia. She too is trying to break Ara & Esteban up

Esteban - Oh boy. You are about to snatch defeat out of the mouth of victory. Let's see, your dad is going to close the deal right under your nose. What a punch to the gut your princess defiled.

Andrea & Isa - good god almighty you two are like pavlov's dog at the mention of Fernando. Neither of you have really gotten over the dude. You'll soon have company along with Sonia when Aranza joins the harem.

Mau - unfortunately nice guys don't win

Ally - I'm an ally. Thought it funny you called him on his reaction to his mothers re-budding romance

Fernando & Sonia - Really, how long has this been going on?

Thanks, J., for the excellent recap of this depressing mess.

Vivi...Dafne coveting Ara's "stuff" and life made me think of Pester's covetous frenemy ..MayIHaveYourStuff Mayuya.

Hmm..plastic surgery. How big a change will there be ? Could we please have a new, better looking actor playing Satan ? I still cannot buy the fact that Isa ever fell for this dude. He is muy creepy and not good looking, so. I cannot buy him as a ladies' man who makes all the women swoon. Evil JL on MPV...now that evil dude is a hottie. I can believe him seducing a beauty like Isa..but Feo..no.

Susanlynn- Luckily for Dafne, Ara treats her much better than Pester treated Mayuya. And hopefully for us, Dafne won't try to sleep with Ara's dad like Mayuya did with Fully! Yuck!

Hmm....I wonder if Tita is thinking about bidding on the Pope's motorcycle and leather jacket for Ozzie ?

Glad you are back J NYC, I am back from a painful day at the Dentist and you are back from bronchitis, either way, it wasn't much fun. I great recap so you are back for sure. I loved the "she's playing Bonnie and Clyde with Feo---also, your Cuban
coffee line.

Tofie---Your Jethro from the Beverly Hillbillies as an equivalent to Tassels was great.

Diana---You said that Aranza, now a woman will disregard So-not's poison. I hope that you are right but I don't think so. I do hope that Aranza doesn't go all the way over to the dark side after all, there's Esteban. I hope that he can help guide her away from the dark evil that So-not and Feo
would like her to be a part of.

A sweet scene with Isa and Dafne last night. Dafne is crying on the inside and that embrace looked for real. With So-not and Feo soon to be out of control, wouldn't it be nice if Dafne swung over to Isa's side?

Urban---DNA samples of the deceased? It's a novela.

If S0-Not is Marinela's mom and Feo id her dad, how did Marinela turn out to be such a good person?
Isn't it funny how life works?

So many bailed out on CI and now there is bailout talk here---QUE!!
the gringo

I too don't think Fernando looks like but he obviously is Studly Whiplash and before the TN over will have bedded half the cast. I noticed a little concern that the Fernando connection to Isabel may not play well within her new social circle. Though I see this beautiful refined woman she did go slumming and liked it. I also believe had she not found out about Andrea and the boys she would have covered the embezzlement just to keep him. Haven't seen any rose petal carpets from Art.

Does it seem as though Dafne is on the road to redemption ? After years of feeding Ara negativity concerning Isa, is she going to become a positive influence on Ara and join sweet Esteban in saving Ara from Soton and Feo ? I would like that. Dafne certainly endured a very sad and neglected childhood. I would like to see her have a happy ending....maybe with tassels if Mari doesn't want him..or Dan the Man.

Forgot to say thanks, J, for that clear, detailed recap of all the happenings. I am glad that you are getting over your bout with bronchitis..stay well. I have started taking probiotics to strengthen my immune system.

Gringo-- I bailed on commenting on CI. I admit it. I won't bail here. I like the show so if they don't go circo then I will stay positive, but I am recapping so if it goes downhill I may not be able to hide my disgust in the recap. At least the trip downhill (if there is one) will be shorter than CI. (Fewer eps.) I admire your unflagging devotion to CI.

Susanlynn- I'm holding out hope that Dafne is redeemable.

Susanlynn:

You should have seen this same actor, the one that plays Feo, in Zorro: La Espada y La Rosa. He played a Capitan in the King of Spain's army named Pizzaro. He had a shaved head and was more muscular. This TN was done on Telemundo in 2007, it was a period piece. Very excellent TN. Christian Meier played Zorro, what a hottie ; ) I found clips of it when someone mentioned it in comments once.

I think it's funny that Sonia's nickname for Feo is Diablo. I haven't picked up on him calling her a nickname.

Mads- I looked up images of the actor playing Feo since I had never him before. There are many pics of him when he was trim and muscular, and he happily showed his body. Maybe he should have trimmed down for this role to make his ladies’ man persona more believable. However, in real life, the guys who are the biggest players are usually NOT the best looking guys. Good looking guys have nothing to prove, and women are obviously not as visually oriented as men are when choosing partners.

Ah yes Diablo in a grey dress and magenta blouse will turn heads

Madelaine...I did not have a channel carrying Telemundo at the time, and I remember being very jealous of Sylvia enjoying the show. I saw a few episodes when I was on vacation down the shore. I liked Zorro's dad. I am not a big fan of the guy who played Zorro . he was the galan in Dona Barbara starring Edith Gonzales on Telmundo that I watched.

I noticed a new show called "Women Killers" that Sofia vargara produces. I guess it is based on the Mexican show "Mujeres Asassinas"

I actually think Feo is handsome without the beard and giatee. It's the stupid tan and his attitude that's a turn off.

What's a crying shame is that Thelma Madrigal is a pretty woman but I get a sinking feeling in my stomach when she is on screen.

I like the fresh faces and healthy bodies of the young atresses in this tn. I'm sure by the time they all hit their 30s they will have exercised and starved every last bit of baby fat off themselves.

Tofie- I thought Thelma looked particularly pretty and young as she listened to Esteban read her his love letter.

Yeah, ViviDC thought so too but couldn't help thinking that the same girl will gut punch him soon and makes me sick. You can see her mind churning as Daphne starts up on playing the field and going for older guys. Does the rug get pulled out tonight?
