Lo Que La Vida Me Robo, Capitulo 74. 02/24/14

Refugio tries calling Esme put gets her voice mail. He wants her to return.

Maria is glad Ale is back. She wants to say goodbye. She's leaving before she gets thrown out on her ear. Ale offers her money but where she's going it will not be needed. When Ale asks her what she means, he notices she has slit her wrists. She passes out as blood is dripping to the floor. Ale calls for re-enforcements. He tells Rosario to get bandages while Victor calls an ambulance.

Next day, Refugio has fallen asleep waiting for Esme's return. He tries calling her again but gets voice mail. He wants to make sure she is okay. He gets a call from Angie and tells her he is on his way.

Maria asks Ale why didn't he let her die? Ale says what she did was really stupid. Maria says she has no one else but him. You all are ready to throw me out on my ear. Where else will I go? I am alone. I have no one and don't want to live without you. I prefer to be dead. Ale advises Maria to rest and they will talk later. Ale sends Margarita to watch after Maria. Victor asks if he thinks Maria would try it again? Ale doesn't know but Maria is not well. Ale turns to his mother and says he doesn't know what to do. Rosario understands his anguish but believes what everyone else on the patio has been saying. She did it to get attention. Maria knows once you bring Montse and your son, she will have to go. Ale says she has no one in this world. Rosario understands but reminds him that Maria and Montse don't get along. Macario agrees. Maria will only get in between you again. Ale feels bad since he has known her all his life. Victor tells him to wait until she gets better. Ale tells Macario to fetch Dominga from the hacienda and bring her back. Macario will do it gladly. Ale also wants him to bring Padre Anselmo. He wants to baptize his son by the end of the week. He also says he wants to take advantage so that he and Montse can get married again. The reason they got divorced was to get rid of all the bad mojo. Now they want to get re-married to start fresh. Happy faces all around. Ale plans to visit Montse and invites Rosario to tag along. Rosario jumps at the chance to hold her grandson again.

JL is finally released and comes home. Angie tries to get him to lie down, but he rather sit for awhile. She leaves to get him a drink. He takes the opportunity to ask what's troubling Refugio. Refugio is desperate for information from Esme. She didn't come home last night and he left countless messages. He takes a look at JL and asks him what's up. JL needs to know if Ale and Montse are back together. Refugio tries to tell him to forget about her, but JL points out that the way he is feeling about Esme is the same way he feels about Montse. He won't rest until he finds out. He's positive the only reason Montse didn't come visit him at the hospital is because Ale has forbidden her to visit. Poor girl. She must be locked up and every move being watched. When Refugio keeps refusing, JL says perhaps Montse might know where Esme is since they are friends.

Dim asks Montse what's going on between her and Ale. There mother doesn't understand what is going on. Montse explains that her marriage to Ale was a purchase. She wants to erase all that bad mojo and start fresh. So your divorcing to get married again asks Dim. Yes, replies Montse. Now no one is making my decisions but me. That's whats important. She says she's off to see JL at the hospital, but Dim doesn't think it's a good idea. Tia Carlotta comes in and agrees with Dim. Montse says Ale knows and is okay with it all. Tia Carlotta thinks she should just call the hospital and see how he's doing. Dim agrees and says she can't leave anyway. Ale is due at any moment. What for asks Montse. To ask for money again? She will not allow it. Dim says that is not the case. He asked his mother to call Ale. He doesn't believe Graceless for obvious reasons and he wants to know if he and Ale are brothers. He wants a DNA test.

JL is resting and Angie comes to check on him. She wants to know what he and Ale talked about when he paid him a visit at the hospital. Does he regret what happened? JL says Ale doesn't believe that the boy Montse had is his. And is he asks Angie. JL can't believe that Angie is asking that. Angie points out that they loved each other and were planning on escaping. That's in the past replies JL. The only thing I feel for Montse is appreciation. I don't want to see her unhappy. I would like to find a way to help her. Angie understands but doesn't think JL is telling her the truth. That he still cares for her. If you tell me, I promise to understand. But please tell me the truth. JL says he already told her he didn't. He asks for a kiss.

Refugio is outside Montse's house and up walks Ale. He asks Refugio what he's doing there? Are you here for that man? Refugio says he's not here on behalf of JL, but to speak to his wife. I know that Montse and Esme are friends and since last night I have not heard from Esme. I want to know if she knows anything. Ale wants to know what business he has with Esme? I'm her boyfriend replies Refugio. Ale says he likes Esme and if he hears anything, he will pass it along. And another thing, tell your friend for his own good, not to get anywhere near my wife again. Rosario tells Ale that it was not a good thing what he did. Montse loves you. I know replies Ale. But she still loves JL since she said so at the hospital. I am going to fight for the woman I love.

Graceless comes in asking if Ale has shown up. Montse tells her that under no circumstances she is to ask Ale for money. Graceless doesn't want to hear it and wants an explanation on the game she and Ale are playing. Montse tells Graceless she is under no obligation to explain anything that she does. Graceless again says she just wants to know if Montse came to an economic agreement with Ale. Montse reminds her that she is not like her. Only interested in money. Graceless insults her and says if she just has a little bit of intelligence she would have him take care of her. Dim during all this exchange is enjoying himself. Doorbell rings and Montse goes to answer it. She warmly greets Rosario and Ale. Tia Carlotta does the same. Rosario wants to visit her grandson and Montse offers to take her. She asks Ale if he's coming too? Ale says in a bit, he has business with Dim. Graceless tells Ale and Dim to join her in the study. Carlotta tries to follow but Graceless stops her.

Ale tells Graceless that it's best if he and Dim deal with all this alone. Graceless says she just wants to take care of her baby. Ale points out that her baby is nearly 30 years old. And if we are half brothers, then this should all be dealt with between us. Dim takes his dig and says after all this he understands why Ale doesn't trust her. He just wants to find out and be done with it. Ale says he wants to be the one to handle the DNA testing. Dim agrees. Ale wants to take a sample of his DNA with him. He tells Graceless to give him some scissors but Ale says it has to be the hair follicle. Dim says then just pull it out of my hair, but Graceless steps in and says to Ale that he will not be pulling any hair out of her baby's head. Dim pretends he doesn't want her to, but she does it anyway and puts some hair in a bag for Ale to get analyzed. Ale says as soon as he finds out, he will let him know.

Ale goes to Montse's room to visit his son. (He looks really good holding that baby I must say). Montse wishes to talk to Ale and Rosario offers to take the baby for some fresh air. Montse says she doesn't know if Dim is the son of Benjamin but knows her mother is only doing this to take money from him. Ale believes it also and think that Dim and Graceless are after half of the inheritance. If Dim is also Benjamin's son, then he is entitled to half the fortune. Ale walks away and when Montse wants to know what's up, he tells her that Maria tried to kill herself. Fortunately I found her and was able to get her help. Montse thinks she only did it to make him feel responsible and sorry for her. Montse says as long as Maria is there, I will not be. Ale again defends Maria. Maria's father was a good man who helped me when I needed it. Maria has no one and I do feel responsible for her. I can't abandoned her. Montse suggests sending Maria to the hacienda to live and they will stay in Aguazul. But do not ask me to live with her again. Things will get bad between us again. Ale agrees and wants Montse to join him to buy his mother some things.
Dim wants to know who else knows about the dead baby. Graceless says only 2 people and neither one of them will speak. Is one of them Amelia? Of course replies Graceless. Dim says it's her responsibility to ensure that she doesn't open her mouth. Dim gets a call from Adolfo. He tells his mom that Pedro Medina wants to see him. Graceless tells him to leave right away. Thanks to that man, you didn't go to prison for the death of Bruno Gamboa. Whatever he needs you do. No matter what it is.

Refugio pays a visit to EZ and demands to know where Esme is at. EZ has no clue who he's talking about. Esme says she is in a lot of trouble and the last person who saw her was you. EZ agrees but she sent him away since she decided to return with you. But I saw her kissing you shouts Refugio. EZ says it was just a goodbye kiss. Refugio wants to file a missing person report. He begs EZ to help him find her. He leaves and EZ calls Pedro to tell him someone came to file a missing person report on Esme. Pedro says not to do a thing. He doesn't like anyone talking about him and ensured that Esme will keep her trap shut forever. EZ hangs up and says that he warned her.

Margarita tells Victor she is taking a tea to Maria, but he offers to do it instead. He goes to her room and finds her gone.

Tia Carlotta is pushing the baby in the stroller out in the garden. Maria knocks her in the head with a rock and takes the baby. She says that his mother took what she most loved in this world and now she will be returning the favor.

Maria is walking away with the baby when Macario, Dominga and Padre Anselmo walk up. Padre asks Maria what she's doing with the baby. Maria lies and says Ale asked her to watch the baby while he talked to Montse. Dominga is overcome with excitement on seeing the baby and takes him from Maria's arms. Macario, Padre Anselmo and Dominga coo over the baby as Tia Carlotta stirs from her forced nap. Macario thinks Dominga looks good with a baby in her arms and tells Dominga at anytime he will help her have one. Dominga reminds him only after their married and Padre Anselmo seconds that. Maria tries to leave but Padre detains her. He found out from Macario the newest stupidity she did. Don't you know it's a sin to take your own life? Only God can do that. Tia Carlotta is finally alert and looks to see the baby. She screams that the baby is gone. Macario, Dominga and Padre Anselmo tells Tia Carlotta to calm down. She says someone hit her over the head and she passed out. Padre Anselmo and Macario look behind them for Maria. They realize that Maria wanted to steal Ale's baby.

Graceless goes to visit Amelia. While she's waiting she has a little chat with Virginia. She hates it that Josefina got in the way of her and Dim's relationship. She feels that Virginia is the one for Dim. She also says that Dim just left his ugly wife. Virginia is happy on hearing the news.

Dim pays a visit to Pedro. Pedro says he hates ungrateful people. Thanks to him, Dim is out and about free as a bird. He has been waiting months for Dim to come and thank him. Dim apologizes and he thanks Pedro. Pedro lists all the crimes that Dim and his mother did. He could have gone to prison for a long time and his mother too. Dim wants to know what he wants. Pedro reminds him that their future is in his hands. He asks if Dim is really the son of Benjamin. Dim says Ale is currently performing a DNA test to see if it's true. And you care going to fight for your part of the inheritance asks Pedro. Of course replies Dim. Pedro says he can help Dim get all of the fortune not just half. In exchange for....asks Dim. Pedro says he's interested in the hacienda and the lands around it. If you sell it to me at the price I set, then I will help you get it all.

Graceless inquires about Angie. Amelia says she's not doing well. She is always at the hospital and isn't taking care of herself. Now that they are home, perhaps she can get to the business of getting better. So her husband didn't die asks Graceless. No thankfully says Amelia. But I know you didn't come here to ask me about JL's health. Your right replies Graceless. But just tell your daughter to take care of her husband, especially since Ale and Montse just got a divorce. Amelia asks Graceless to spit out what she wants. She's busy. Graceless gets right to it. 30 years ago, you promised me to keep a secret and I need you to do it again. Swear to me that you will not speak to anyone about the son I had with Benjamin. Amelia says she doesn't have to swear anything to her. If she has kept quiet all these years then there is no reason for her to say anything now. Graceless thanks her. Amelia says not to thank her. The only reason she has kept quiet is because she is ashamed of helping her. Tell me. Did you ever cry over your child dying in your arms? Because I have a daughter that is dying and there is not one night that I don't wake up crying in pain. Graceless says the baby was in the way of her obtaining the future she wanted. You know that. Graceless goes to leave knowing that Amelia is expecting a visor. Amelia says she is trying to fix some clothes so they will fit. How she misses Juanita. She sure was good with a needle. May she RIP. Graceless doesn't understand why Amelia would mention her. Because I remember when we would play outside while your mother fixed my mother's clothes. Graceless says she doesn't regret any decision she made to get away from the filthy hole she was living in. Amelia insults her and admits for a child of a tailor, she sure made it far. (with friends like that, who the heck needs enemies?)

JL watches Angie sleeping and covers her with a blanket. There's a knock on the door and it's Refugio. JL wonders if he found out anything. Nothing replies Refugio. I came across Ale and had to leave. He told me to tell you not to get anywhere near Montse. It can be really bad. JL says Ale tried to kill him and he assures him the next time things will turn out different. Refugio tells JL to leave the whole Montse situation in the past. JL points out that Montse is not happy. And you aren't happy asks Refugio. Poor Angie. She doesn't deserve this. JL says he feels horrible for keeping his feelings for Montse under wraps. Refugio wonders if Montse left her husband for him, would he turn around and leave Angie? Knowing that her only reason for living was him? JL changes the subject and wants to know if Refugio knows where Esme is? Nothing says Refugio. I even went to EZ and he assured me he would help find her.

Ale finds out from Victor that Maria is gone. He hopes Maria didn't do anything stupid again (too late!).

My recording ended so I don't know what else happened or what's going on tomorrow. Can someone fill in?

Last scene: Montse returned to Ale's house and found out Esme is missing and knows something else is bothering him.

Avances: Rosario sees ir hears something shocking and wails "Nooooooo!!!" And Ale hugs her and Bitch Maria is on the scene.

Gracias por el recap! Will appreciate it fully in the morning.

Gloria:

Thanks for this most marvelous recap! Loved all the detail.

I'm so very glad that BM got stopped in her tracks and didn't steal that bebe. I liked Padre Anselmo giving her the bidness too! BM needs a one way ticket to the manicomio!

Now I am really worried for Esme. I really hope nothing bad has happened to her. She's not at Angie's and Monse hasn't heard a thing from her either. I am really hoping Pedro did not come back and knock her off.

I wish JL would just get over Monse already. He needs to focus on Angie who loves him more than her life.

So Amelia has been keeping this secret a long time. I wonder how she "helped" Graceless, and from what Graceless is saying that bebe boy is dead and gone.

I don't like what Pedro is up to with Dimmy. I'm kind of hoping that Dimmy will tell Ale, but I'm not holding out much hope there. Dimmy is too greedy for words.

Ale does look good with that bebe, but he needs to man up and find a place for BM away from him. Give her a job at the factory, but her days of living with Ale should be done. He needs to wake up and smell the coffee. He should see all the harm she's caused, but all he sees is the poor pitiful BM that has no one. He needs to take the blinders off and get rid of her already!

I can't believe Ale allowed Graceless to pull that "hair" from Dimmy. We just know she did a bait and switch!

Can't wait to see what happens next!

Gloria,

Thanks so much for the awesome recap. It was very informative and detailed. And so much happened during this epi.

BM is just running out of ways to stay by Ale's side. This suicide attempt was the quickest way to get Ale to feel guilty. I think she's evil. She knew exactly what she was doing when she hit Tia over the head and took Laurito. Thank God she didn't get away with it. I really hope Mac, Dominga or Padre A tell Ale what BM was up to. He has to find this out.

I was a bit confused about the hair sample from Dimi. Ale said they needed a follicle hair, but I remember the hair Graceless had from her dead baby was just hair without a follicle. So what was in that paper Graceless gave to Ale?

It will be interesting to see how Pedro plans to get all of the Almonte money for Dimi. How is he going to get Ale to give it all up? Pedro is such a sleazebag!

BTW, I hope that Esme is just out of town and doesn't want to answer Refugio's calls. I hope stupid Pedro let her leave town.

Glad to see that JL is out of the hospital, but now I fear that he's going to go after Montse. What an idiot! He promised to make Angie happy til her dying day. He needs to find out that Montse is happy with Ale and Laurito. Of course that doesn't mean he won't do anything stupid.

So it looks like Graceless was poor as a child. She obviously was jealous of Amelia growing up a rich girl. I don't think her family was from Italy. It was probably just something she made up. She had to come up with a family story to tell Lauro. Maybe Benny knew she was poor. Who knows. Seems like Graceless has a lot of skeletons in her closet.

I loved the look on Dimi's face while Montse and Graceless were talking about Ale and the divorce. Priceless!

ITA with you that Ale sure does look good holding little Laurito. Of course Ale always looks good.

More to say but I am very sleepy.

Off to bed...hasta pronto!

Thanks for your recap, Gloria. It really helped me keep the chronology straight, and clarified the dialogue for me.
The scene where Ale was explaining to Monse why he couldn't kick Maria out, I believe he said "I have to think of what to do with her." DUDE-there are psych hospitals even in TN land. Why is he doing a half-assed suicide watch on her. What really disturbed me that no one who knew made any effort to tell Ale what Maria had done to Carlotta and the baby!!

Gloria: I always enjoy your recaps and this was no exception. Your honest, straightforward, insightful detailed laden recap was sensational. You recanted the rich, full bodied contents (with a side of wry humor): "Macario, Padre Anselmo and Dominga coo over the baby as Tia Carlotta stirs from her forced nap" - excellent.

Your "He doesn't like anyone talking about him and ensured that Esme will keep her trap shut forever" made me shiver slightly. Madelaine, I am fervently hoping she follows that advice (until Pedro comes to his inevitable end), and that she is still of this world! Sigh.

“Dim during all this exchange is enjoying himself”. I found myself laughing out loud at his facial expressions, they were all priceless (as was this rare bit of levity amidst the all too somber occurrences taking place).

Thankfully, this was one of the most quickly thwarted kidnapping attempts in TN history. How horrid this could have been. Let's hope baby Lauro is now under lock and key, under 24 hour surveillance. Agree with you AuntyAnn, very fortuitous timing by the Padre and company! They literally saved the day.

I still am not clear on what exactly happened to Graciela's child and the role Amelia played.

I can't imagine what causes Rosario to shriek in horror in the preview. I hope nothing else happened to Baby Lauro.

JL is quickly slipping out of my good graces. He needs to concentrate on his beautiful, loving wife and devote every waking moment to making her happy and as comfortable as possible. He owes her his life and much, much more. Even Refugio is perturbed with him.

Gloria, thank you for this exceptional recap.

Diana

Gloria, that was a great recap! Thanks!

Madelaine, I so agree BM should be given a job at the factory. Didn't Ale threaten her with that earlier?

Emarie, I also don't know why nobody went running and screaming to let everyone know what BM did to Carlota to get the baby. ???? That is how BM and her crazy train just keep rolling along. They should have called a doctor for Carlota and the police and a doctor for BM.

Loved the response Montse gave Graciela when the latter reminded Montse that it was Ale's responsibility to financially support her (Montse): Montse said yes it was his responsibility to support her but not Graciela. Yay!

I also liked Montse putting her foot down about BM in her conversation with Ale.

What I didn't like was Montse still wanting to run to the hospital to see JL.

JL is becoming a duplicitous pain.

My favorite scene was between Graciela and Amelia with Amelia reminding her of her origins as a seamstress's daughter: an employee of Amelia's mother but only after Graciela reminding her of the "promise" about the baby she had with Benjamin 30 years ago.

So now we know: Graciela had a baby with Benjamin 30 years ago ; it died in her arms; the baby was an impediment to Graciela's big plans; Amelia helped her out in this situation some how and now feels great shame because of it. In the last episode she left the "impression" with padre Anselmo that she had killed the baby. Maybe she just did that to mess with his head. I sure hope we find out the truth soon!

Just a perfect recap Gloria. Don't need additional asides when just reading your wonderfully detailed facts makes one's head spin.

Sooooo glad Maria was not only discovered, but now there are additional people who truly understand what a BSC nut-job this woman is turning into. And good for Monse to lay it on the line with Ale. They had better be told what she tried to pull with the baby. Tia, who never keeps her mouth shut, bless her, for once should be shouting from the rafters that someone tried to knock her out. If Ale still would cut her slack after they would be told, then he's the one needing the hit up the head.

I'm with you all about Dim last night. As "pretty" as SR is and I do enjoy his acting, Osvalde is knocking it out of the park in this role. I love watching his facial expressions, his reactions when others are talking and how he shows the complexities of the character. May not like Dimwit most times, but I'm loving Osvalde in this role! I would just love to see him pull the rug out from under both his mother and Pedro when he does inherit ( which we know for awhile he will). But that would put a big 'ole bullseye too early on his head. Side note: how disgusting is it to hear Graceless constantly refer to him as her "baby"--even in front of others. Just wrong. Especially coming from her.

The whole "Maria's father was a good man" seems to be a laser point to indicate that he WASN'T her true father. My guess is the good man took in the little one and Graceless has no clue Maria is her spawn. I think the good sisters took the little one & gave it to a local family. If Graceless was sent away to a convent to have the baby, then there was no intention I would guess to keep it anyway. I think she just told everyone it was dead so she could get back to her plan of getting out of her poverty and hook someone rich. Can't have a baby hanging around for that.

I prefer to believe Esme took Pedro's advice and got out of town. Not having seen Nadia lately, wonder if she has Esme hidden off somewhere. Anywhere. And EZ's reaction when calling Pedro--yeah add him to the scum heap. Showed so much concern.

JL--shut the hell up about Monse. That is all.

Daisynjay

Dear Gloria,

Thanks for fantastic recap! I loved all your details and phrasing--how Ale called for reinforcements, how the divorce took place to get rid of bad mojo and also how you noted that Ale looked really good holding the baby. I agree--and I especially love him in that darker blue shirt.

What Gracie did or didn't do with the baby is all vague, but I guess that's how it's meant to be for now. Interesting to know more about her background, though.

Also, she keeps saying "hijo"--don't think we've ever heard her say "hija" have we?

I'm just not sure if she's using "hijo" to indicate that the baby was actually male or if she's using it in the more general default way that can mean any child, especially when the sex is unknown. But, surely, she would have known the sex of the baby, so are we to understand the baby was male?

Or maybe she's just using it as the default way to describe her baby because she doesn't care enough about it to be more specific?

I'm not sure what's going on with this, but from last night's conversation I got impression that the baby was male. Would be curious to know if others had this impression or it's still unknown.

Thanks again, Gloria! A great recap, as always.

Pedro and Shameless should start dating they are perfect from each other! I bet Satan is regreting he even created these two hellspawn! And Count Basura is no different then Pedro,he is just using Carlota like a trophy wife ,the same way Pedro,he has no chance winning the Municipal position without a wife.

Pedro does*

Great job, Gloria! As noted, you made some excellent observations about our characters and their often times confounding actions last night.

The fact that Ale was even feeling out Monse to see if she would accept living in the same house with Maria was ridiculous! He can’t even stand to see JL’s BFF on Monse’s doorstep. How dare he even for one second think that Monse could accept Maria living in the same house with them. So glad she shot that down in no uncertain terms.

JL needs to pull himself together. I did notice that at least he’s still being loving with Angie and giving her kisses and caresses. But he needs to stop moping, and he needs to stop asking Refu to get the 411 on Monse. Ya, basta!

I love how news only travels fast when the writers want it to. But when a crazy woman has just assaulted someone and nearly got away with kidnapping a baby, no one thinks to IMMEDIATELY call either parent on their cell phone, or to call Ale’s house to leave a message with Victor or the maid. Much less the police (not that I trust them). Really? Time for all these people to stop giving Maria a pass on her craziness. She’s gone from annoying to dangerous!

Gloria, thank you so much for this excellent and detailed recap. There were lots of juicy parts last night and you captured them beautifully. Well done.

Julia R and Daisynjay,
A DNA test reveals sex, so Graciela wouldn't be trying to pass off Dimitrio as Benjamín's offspring unless she knew her own child was a boy. (We won't even talk about whether the snippet of rootless baby hair will show anything at all.)

Let's revisit the convent scene between Graciela and Padre Anselmo some 30 years earlier:

Graciela opens her 'confessional' session by telling the Padre "I've committed a grave sin." She goes on to tell him that the child died, but didn't suffer. She held him/her in her arms and he/she just fell asleep (or something like that).

She says she has to go back to Aguazul to marry Admiral Mendoza.

Padre: But you don't love him.
Graciela: I don't love Benjamín Almonte either.
Padre: But you gave him a child.
Graciela: I took a child away from him -- which is very different. And now it won't get in the way of either of us.

[Kisses his hand. "Su bendicion, padre. Buenas noches."]

She never tells Padre Anselmo that she killed the child, but that is what he infers from her confession of a "grave sin." Maybe she was wrapping up her pregnancy and childbirth (and possible death of the child) in the confessional flag. Maybe the implied sin of murder was just her way of assuring that the Padre never spoke of the circumstances to anyone.

Maybe there is a son out there. [you gotta do something to fill up the next 100 episodes.]

Hey, did anyone else notice how Refugio spends the whole night in the wreckage of Esmeralda's place and doesn't even turn a chair or a table right side up? Sheesh.

Gloria, thanks so much. I am riveted by your recap because Hulu does not have the dang thing up yet. This happened last Monday also. Color me FRUSTRATED.

Loved your phraseology of getting rid of the "bad mojo". Unfortunately Bad Mojo Maria is still around and causing havoc. I guess we will have to deal with her until about 45 minutes to the end of this story. More time for Carlos to wind us all up.

Thanks for the 411 and all the juicy details. I probably won't get to see this until very late this afternoon. Why Hulu, why?

I dont depend on Hulu or Netflix because they suck. With what Malaria did to Carlota ,there is no turning back for her,she is a loose cannon like Ximena from Triunfo Del Amor

NovelMaven: Thanks so much for answering my question and providing more information!

Part of my confusion was that I think I was still under the assumption/theory that María was going to be the child Gracie had abandoned, but now it seems that it cannot be the case--unless, Gracie had two.

Maybe you have a lll been discussing this already, and I missed something.

Thanks again!

Thanks for the empathy, Demetrios. "They suck" pretty much sums what I'm feeling too. But my VCR doesn't record very well either. Still, I think I will have to go back to using it.

Thanks again, Gloria...you're a lifesaver.

Thanks NM - good point to know. She I guess BSC Maria is parentless again.

So we possible would need a male a few years older than Dim to Ta-Da, become the step-bro of Ale. Or Dim could be Benny's too and she had ANOTHER child even older with him who she says, or thinks, died. can't help but feel with all the episodes we have to go, there is yet to be a humdinger of spawn out there still lurking. Who could shock---how about Pedro? We have no clue as to his background and why he's a certified nut job. Or are the playing him too old to be Gracie's? Do we know JL's background? Was he adopted--got the black hair. Gees...this could be fun to see after all.

Did I see it right yesterday that someone said, sorry forgot to look before typing, that there may ANOTHER 50 episodes tacked on to this TN? Not a fan. never fails to make the scriptwriters to get lazy, do filler episodes and come up with ridiculous plot points. And they would have to bring in more actors I would think.

Daisynjay

I really think the “Maria is Gracie’s kid” ship has sailed. It’s been pretty clear from the flashbacks and conversations between Gracie, Padre and Emelia, that the baby was a boy. It’s not clear to me why Gracie would lie and say he had died, if he didn’t, since she and her family clearly intended to give him up quietly so that Gracie could marry Lauro.

The bigger mystery from that conversation between Gracie and Emelia was the revelation about Gracie being the daughter of a seamstress. How did Gracie and her family pass themselves off as a “good” family when/after she married Lauro? Does she really have Italian roots, or is her maiden last name a fake? If her mother was a seamstress, what did her father do, and who was he? How could no one else in Agua Azul not know about her humble beginnings?

Great work, Gloria.

DVR Users: You need to set them to record a few minutes past the hour to catch the ends of these episodes. Cable companies don't acknowledge start and end times that are not exactly on the hour except for Turner networks and those are likely because Turner lets them know. None of the Spanish-language networks fill them in on this.

So Graciela is the daughter of a seamstress rather than coming from a "good" family. No surprise. It certainly explains her declassee behavior and fashion sense and her paranoia about gossip. Makes me wonder whether we will see her mother eventually and if her mother was a madre soltera as well.

I see the friendship of Amelia and Graceless ending badly in the not-too-distant future. Not that Amelia is likely to find out that Graceless once hoped that Dimwit could marry Angelica's future fortune, but a disclosure from Dimwit after a nasty exchange with Graceless could be very interesting.

Mature actresses often do better catfights than the younger ones.

It would please me immensely if the lab people would tell Alejandro that they need follicles, blood, or bucal swabs for DNA and that they need to be taken on the spot. That's what any good lawyer would advise in this situation.

Thank you, Gloria, for that detailed recap. I was surfing between this show and The Voice (excellent singers and judges this season) . I saw Malria whack Tia on the head with the rock (groan ) and her take the baby , but I did not see Padre, Macario, and Dominga thwart her evil scheme. I am so glad that Malria is as inept as a kidnapper as she is a seductress and a housekeeper. YAY for the good guys. However, Rosario's upset in the previews ,so something bad must be happening in tonight's episode.

I hope that Esme is still alive and hiding out somewhere. Would she go to Angie's godmother ?

I hope that Dim does not team up with awful Pedro.

I wonder what Amelia did to "help" disGraceful.

NovelaMaven..I noticed that Refugio made no attempt to straighten up Esme's place other that to pick up the flowers and set them on the table. I would, at least, have been trying to put the furniture back in place as I left. Maybe it's a female/wife/mother thing..setting things right...picking up after others .

I've been wondering also about what Amelia did. Did she suggest the convent and bring her there or was it something bigger?

I think Pedro is too old to be the possibly-missing son of Graceless. I think he is meant to be older than Alejandro; he certainly looks it. IRL there is a 9-year difference between him and SR.

However, he does have blond hair and blue eyes so for him to be related to Alejandro is not impossible. He could be, but Graceless is too young to be his mother.

Refugio was too frustrated at the situation,he could care less about fixing some furniture .Pedro is around 30-40 so he would be too old to be Benjamins son but twists can happen,we know nothing about his parents or his past life, maybe he was a son of a buisness partner of Benjamin and when he died,Pedro took over.

I caught a Pasion rerun , and I think that Tia Carlotta is in it playing the sister or sister-in-law of the corrupt governor.

Gloria--You came right out of the gates with a winner...but you are always a winner at recapping. You've always delivered a recap replete with detail, nuances and characterization. Thank you.

This was a pivotal episode. Every character, major or minor participated (except Nadia, but she did that the day before). I don't need to comment on this because I'd just be repeating everyone's most excellent comments.

One thing that bothers me about Graciela thinking a weeks' old infant's hair will be able to determine heredity. Infants' hair is very thin (while some have none at all). The first hair on a newborn is fetal hair that usually falls out as permanent hair grows in (My mother has locks of my hair as an infant and I have both my children's locks as infants, so at least anecdotally, I can attest to how fine it is. Nothing like my or their adult hair). I'm not a DNA lab technician, but wouldn't the lab get suspicious of the thinness? I hope this is what sinks her.

Graciela may have really taken Dimmy's hair out and Ale will be taking it to the lab, but who's to say she hasn't already pre-empted the results by bribing the lab. No, there are no limits to how far this woman will go for money. Well, she is in dire financial straits right now.

Well, we didn't see her humble origins in our conjectures about Gracie's past, but now we understand her drive to marry rich. And, that it wasn't her parents pushing her into a marriage with Don Lauro. (I do believe she is of Italian descent. Mexico has had immigrants from all over Europe.)

I'm not convinced one way or the other her baby is dead. Padre certainly thinks so. Amelia certainly think so and she seems likely to have been there. What we aren't sure of to date is how long the baby lived. It seemed to me she said a few weeks. Where would she have been during that time--still at the convent? Wouldn't ALL the nuns know about the young woman delivering a baby and then the baby dying?

Maybe the baby died under mysterious circumstances, maybe not. It wouldn't have been that hard to fake a death to others and let the nuns arrange for an adoption. Graceless would likely never know what happened to the baby, but she's sure the baby was removed from the scene and was "dead to her."

Her tears the night before moved me not at all. Sorry, Gracie. Your Patio table has been cordoned off with yellow police tape until further notice. Oh, and the chairs are all gone, too.

Thanks for the recap Gloria. Your asides and observations were so good.

While finding out Graceless is not from a wealthy family is not a stretch, its a great twist and yet another skeleton in her closet.

ITA w/all of those frustrated that no one is telling Ale or Montse about the botched kidnapping. Really?

Gloria, thanks a million for your amazingly detailed recap. Like others who can't watch, I truly appreciate your great description of the action. Although I was dismayed (but not surprised) by dreaded BSC Maria's actions, I did have to laugh at Tia "[stirring] from her forced nap." Like the rest of you I can't believe blabbermouth Tia isn't telling all about what happened to her. Does she know BSCMaria bonked her on the head?

At this point I think it is a crap shoot for all the orphaned/abandoned offspring. In other words, Maria's dad might not be her real dad, but who is? Are we absolutely sure that Rosario is Ale's mom? I guess so because there is that call of the blood thing. No spoilers, just guessing about what could upset Rosario so much. I don't think Gracie's bebe is dead.

Even though I can't watch Hulu in Mexico and my wifi isn't good enough to stream episodes anyway, I am NOT watching live episodes here because they are about 2 weeks ahead of the US and I don't want to know what happens in advance. It's still more fun to "watch" with The Patio.

I'm worried as heck about Esme. Please writers, let her be OK!!!

Susanlynn--I've been watching Pirate Ric in Pasion religiously. You are correct. Tia Carlota's name in Pasion is Fortunata, although Fortune is not really hers. She's also the metiche spinster living off the charity of the family, but they are quite wealthy and powerful. She is beautifully costumed.

Of course El Sr. Rulli is in it, too. His crying style hasn't changed a bit. He still gets red-eyed. Daniela Castro is young and beautiful and elegant AND blind. Lots of other familiar actors, but I think they are the only ones from Pasion in Robo.

I'm reading the recaps and comments as I go along. You and La Paloma, Jardinera and others have really kept me in stitches.

Fantastic recap Gloria and many thanks. I missed a lot of the conversation between Emelia and Gracie so it was a big help to have your recap.

Could we start a table for those pulling for Dimie to reform? He really is engaging as an actor, and he keeps having these moments of goodness that seem to come out of him despite himself. I started this TN wanting an anvil for him and now just want to see him become a good guy!

ITA with all of you who are saying the JL pendulum is swing back toward putz-dom. Poor Angie. She deserves so much more!

I also hope those of you commenting on the low probability of getting dna proof from the baby's hair is accurate. But in my limited experience of TN's there is not much concern about minor details like science or law procedures, so...

If Dimi gets the inheritance I'd love to see him NOT share it with Gracie!

Later guys!
Becky

Fantastic recap, Gloria!

I am wondering if Dim really is Benjamin's son. Maybe Gracie wants him to believe he's Lauro's son (if only to maintain what she insisted on earlier), but she wants him to get that inheritance, too, so she's letting him think that she switched out the hair or messed with the DNA test somehow, but really Dim's own hair will prove the relationship.

I still think that Refugio is a candidate for the baby Gracie had (which may or may not have actually died). NOT JL, because of the waterfall snoozling with Montse. That would be too gross.

I am also curious about how Gracie and Amelia schemed to pass Gracie off as high society. Amelia is an interesting character. I think it's funny how disgusted she is by all the studying she thinks Virginia is doing.

I think Blabber-mouth Tia and just-as-blabber-mouth Macario will certainly tell Montse and Ale, respectively, about Maria's stupid attempt. It's just that in TN time, they haven't had a chance to do so. Not to mention equally blabby Padre Anselmo. If Maria were smart (doubtful), she'd be high-tailing it back to the Hacienda without stopping at the house for her things. If I were Montse, I would insist that the kidnap attempt be reported to the police - regardless of whether they are corrupt or not. Maybe Gracie will report her and insist Maria be arrested!

I'm at the Redemption for Dimmie table. I don't like the character all that much, but I love to watch him.

Hi Anita. Loved your comments.

Juvie and Victor were also in Pasion.

Diana

Thanks, Anon; you beat me to the comment about Macario. He won't be able to stay quiet about this and not enough time has passed for us to be concerned yet.

I amend my assumption about Amelia the other day in view of a new possibility. It is unlikely that Graceless was the only unmarried girl in the convent with a pregnancy to conceal. Could there also have been a baby switch? Could there have been a dying baby substituted for Graceless' infant? Could Amelia have taken the living child to the orphanage to be adopted by Gaspar (meaning that Maria was that baby) or someone else (meaning that Refugio was that baby)? Of all the people with unknown parentage he is the one male who looks most like both Alejandro and Monserrat.

Or how about Esmeralda, who looks about the same age as Refugio and looks more like a relative than Maria does? Either of these two would be great karmic justice.

Becky, I will join you at Dimi's table, even though I will have a bag over my head at first. (Oh, the shame!) But the actor rocks.

Julia, thanks for reminding us about Refugio possibly being Gracie's kid. That would be very interesting, but I doubt she would ever be nice to him or acknowledge him in any way. Urban A, same deelio if the baby is Esme. I have seen similar situations happen in real life and it's very sad, where the birth parent absolutely will not or can not warm up to their offspring.

Dimi's table is currently serving all the junk food you know you shouldn't have, but it's soooo tasty. We are living on the edge.

Elna June: thanks for your kind words re: the lists. I try to mix my choices with those I get from the comments. But admit, it’s mostly subjective.

JL is really getting on my last nerve. This obsession with Mons is ridiculous. Surely, he wouldn’t leave Angie if Mons were free. That would make him on the level with Dim and Alpo for being the worst skunks.

Noticed that Ale also mentioned the root of the hair as we all discussed before. So the writers are aware of what is needed for the DNA test. Don’t see how they could let the baby hair pass now.

Finally, Maria is caught doing something reprehensible by people who will not keep their mouths shut about what happened. Not one of the witnesses is on the bad guys list. Especially Tia, who does not have a past with Maria

Nanette

Great idea Julia. I will bring potato chips and onion dip, and root beer and ice cream to make some floats.

Nanette, amazing isn't it? That the writers actually mentioned the root of the hair? That, and the fact that BM's kidnapping plan was quashed so early, absolutely shocks me.

Diana--thanks for the corrections. Juvie left the scene too early for me to recall him in Pasion, where he played a very big part as Ric's BFF. Victor's part in Pasion was smaller as Pirate Juancho and he hasn't been seen in several episodes. I don't mean to mix tns, sorry.

I did think it odd that the scene where Carlota wakes up from her enforced nap didn't have all of them holding and questioning Maria. I guess they were more concerned about Carlota and didn't at first connect it with no baby in the stroller, even though that's what she shouted out.

BTW, this is the first baby in a stroller/carriage I've recalled seeing since Cuando Me Enamoro, when Regina's baby Renata was kidnapped by Josefina. The young Fina was played by Margarita Magaña.

There is someone else that has no family. That is JL. He has no family whatsoever. I wonder if he could be the possible bebe. He is the same age, give or take, a couple years either younger or older than Ale. Hmmmm.........

Mads- Can't be JL since he and Monse already had sex. That would be a big no, no.

They had the baby out of Maria's hands before Carlota said she had been hit on the head. With all that those three know about her they should have had Macario's cell phone out in a New York minute to call the police.

Thank you gloria, for a really good recap. You caught all the twists and turns and we are now left to wonder just what will happen over the next many months of the story.

I, for one, find myself confused at the myriad of possibilities presented by Graciela's deceptions.

Who is kin to whom? We have Pedro, Jose Luis, Refugio, Maria and Esme missing parents. The baby hair thing is written in a manner so oblique that I think we are not supposed to be arriving at the correct conlusions this 'early' in our ultra-long novela.

Add me to the lists of those who have expressed dismay at a possible extension of this 160+ capitulo novela.

I have been thinking that the return of Nadia's 'family' could provide us with a whole new set of stories AND they have already been introduced, at least in name. The writers are going to have to do something to stretch the thing out.

I am also with those who sit at the Osvaldo B. table. I think the actor is very, very talented. I sure hope he wins an award for his portrayal of this terribly flawed but somehow redeemable character. He steals all the scenes he is in with his charisma and puckish sense of humor. I am not sure Dimitrio can be saved but I want Osvaldo to be with us until the bitter end of the story.

The character of Jose Luis is, for me, getting SWEATY again. His ambivalence about his wife is very disturbing. His head seems messed up, perhaps from his recent trauma and illness. I guess I can give him that. But the obsessive thing with Montserrat and thinking that he might run away with her again; here is another person who needs counseling STAT. It seems there is a rather urgent need in Aguazul for trained mental health professionals.

Elna June

They should have been suspicious the second that Maria said that SHE had been left in charge of the baby. In what universe would Ale or Monse have let that happen?! They all knew she had just tried to kill herself the night before. There should have been some major alarm bells ringing and strange looks, but they all just swallowed that excuse and started cooing over the baby, until Tia woke up from her unexpected nap.

Oh, yes...I am sure that I was not the only person on the Patio who was appalled that no one got Tia Carlota to a doctor for a checkup ASAP. Bad public service announcement, Televisa, re: head injuries. She was knocked unconscious—get her to a doc for an exam.

Elna June

Thank you so much Gloria! I really appreciate your thoroughness. . .often miss important details! Haven't read comments yet, saving these as a treat for getting some work stuff done.

Soooo glad little Laurito wasn't spirited away! That loca Maria was going to kill him! So glad too that Macario, Dominga and Padre - 3 of the voices of reason - realize she was trying to take him.

As unpleasant as the prospect of harm to Little Laurito is, I'm glad the drama may be moving from a rift between Montse and Ale to eeevil plots hatching and hopefully being squashed all around them. Let the baddies come at them, but let them stay united and keep us entertained with regular injections of hawt lurve scenes!

I look forward to y'all's indepth and entertaining analysis. Thank you so much once again Gloria!

Lila

Gloria: thanks for the recap. I really appreciate it since I didn't see the ep. Now I know what scenes I can skip when I watch it tonight. Looks like there won't be many. Lots happening.

Gloria - Thanks a bunch.

So Graciela's mother was a tailor. Since she worked for Amelia's rich family, she must've made elegant clothes. But I'll bet Gracie looked down on her mother's sewing and preferred store-bought knocks-offs. So 30 years later, Gracie dresses like a hot mess.

Nice to see Ale having a thoughtful convo with Rosario, Macario, Victor, and Dominga. He's finally back to listening to good advice, even if he won't take it. But I can see Ale -- after sleeping platonically side by side with Maria for about six months -- feel guilty about tossing her out.

This show is getting too silly for logic.

If Refoolio is active military, then how is he allowed to crash off base without being AWOL?

Why is the strip club called La Escondida when it is located right on the corner of a busy intersection? Inside joke, perhaps.

Why was it an old dancer who told Refugio that Esmeralda had quit? Was it MILF night at the club?

Why does JL still care about Montserrat when he has in my opinion an even hotter and also very rich babe who loves his behind unconditionally?

I thought that Alejandro owned Dimitrio. Why does he not have him shoveling manure at the stables like he did in an earlier capitulo?

Thanks, Gloria. You gave us a great, detailed recap. I was out for the evening and saw only the last few minutes, including Amelia saying Gracie was the daughter of a seamstress.

Sometimes girls of questionable background, including illegitimate daughters of gentlemen, were sent to girls' schools, where they made friends with classmates of higher status. (Becky Sharp of Vanity Fair was one, Harriet Smith in Emma another.) They could use these friendships to advantage in their climb up the social ladder.
If not school, then just by playing together, Gracie had a higher status friend in Amelia.

I was happy to learn a plausible explanation for Gracie's weirdly draped outfits. She must have learned some sewing skills. Although her table on the patio is roped off, I'll drape a lace tablecloth on it and add a big chiffon bow to one corner.

I was also happy Maria's kidnap attempt was stymied. I don't think I could bear to see the baby in evil hands right now. He needs to be with his (good) granny.

Good Point O-H:
"I thought that Alejandro owned Dimitrio." Didn't Ale and Fina make some arrangement and Joaquin stepped in and messed it up? It was so long ago. It was either resolved by someone paying Ale back or the storyline was dropped.

Vivi? Help us out.

O-H--
"Why was it an old dancer who told Refugio that Esmeralda had quit?"

I think she's the manager/dancer. Esme was planning this romantic dinner to finally tell Refu that she's decided to stop the provocative dance career to please him. Normally I would have said, girl--you need to do what you want to do, but in this case I can see Refugio's point of view. I think she came around to seeing that how she was dancing was not appropriate if she wanted to be with a military man. She also wanted to be out from Pedro's and EZ's influence over her.

In any case, she had no clue Refu was going to go looking for her at El Escondido before dinner. Now why he went looking for her if he knew he was invited to dinner would be another question. He showed up with flowers for her.

I think that was up when he was forced to marry Josefina. Wasn't he supposed to work at the factory after that?

Thanks for another great recap, Gloria. I really enjoy and admire your work.

Yikes! What in the world was María thinking? She's made some very bad choices here of late. I won't even try to defend her recent decisions, but since no one has died, there's still hope for redemption.

Meanwhile, I'll continue cheering Dimitrio. I've like him from the very beginning and I really hope that he finds his way back to Josefina. I want to see them end up together (imagine the gorgeous children) but if not, I want her to have the opportunity to dump his scrawny butt.

Vivi,

"They should have been suspicious the second that Maria said that SHE had been left in charge of the baby. In what universe would Ale or Monse have let that happen?!"

I had the very same thought. (Did I just say that?)

Carlos

All I know is that Ale and Montse better find out that BM tried to take baby Laurito. That is something that cannot be swept under the rug.

Anita- Ale is supposed to own Dim. Ale paid Dim's debt to Fina's bro, and Dim's end of the bargain was that he would marry Fina and work in Ale's factory in Agua Azul. Since Ale went off the rails and went MIA for 7 months, no one held Dim to his obligations. Thank goodness Pedro at least calls in his favors. I hope he makes it as uncomfortable and painful as possible for Dim. Perhaps even a joint dip in the bubble bath hot tub?

Carlos: I don't think Maria is thinking. She's clearly mentally ill. I don't think I hate her as much as I used to (did I just say that?)

"Perhaps even a joint dip in the bubble bath hot tub?"

Vivi, seriously. You think Dim deserves THAT?!

Nanette,

"I don't think I hate her as much as I used to..."

It's a step in the right direction. Allow me to make room for you here at the María table and buy you a drink.

Carlos

Nanette,

"Perhaps even a joint dip in the bubble bath hot tub?"

Even better.

Carlos

Now serving bubble tea at the Dim table.

Oxnard Huero: "Was it MILF night at the club?" Thanks for the guffaw of the night!

I'd like a seat at Dimmie's table but I'll place the back to the table so I can exit quickly if need be. He's so wishy washy we all should be able to come and go as we please. . . .or wear bags on our heads.

Lila

Carlos: thanks for the offer. I'd love a vegan tea latte.
No hot tubs for me. Excessive heat gives me a horrific headache. Bummer.

MILF night at the club...haha. That reminds me of the panhandler I saw this morning. He had two cardboard signs. The first said something like "I'll be honest...it's for hookers" and the second said "MILF hunter". Maybe he'd be happy at La Escondida, with its clothed dancers who have the moves of middle-aged moms trying to hula hoop.

My understanding of Spanish is evolving but I could have sworn that Carlota was in one episode packing that sissy-man-boy Dimitrio’s things in preparation for his pending indentured servitude at the factory and teasing him about having to clean toilets or something to that effect.

Oxnard- Yes. Alejandro is the one who let the ball drop on Dim's punishment while he was having his months long pity party. And now he seems to have totally forgotten about it. Dim has gotten away with theft (Fina), fraud (wedding to Fina), murder, and perjury, with no punishment.

You called it, Vivi in DC! This is why I have such a hard time rooting for this lazy jerk's redemption.

Agree. The actor is doing a fab job. It's his character that stinks!

Gloria, thank you SO much! Like my fellow empath, JudyB, I rely on Hulu, so your excellent recap was just what the doctor ordered!
