Mentir Para Vivir #98 Tue 2/25/14 Breaking News! Ricky Turned Down SEX! Oh and Antonio Got Whacked.
Ricky and Mariano fist bump one last time. Sorry, bro...I'm gonna have to "leave ya hangin this time'", says Mariano as he slowly drops his hand. The
heart monitor blares alerting the staff that the priest has flat-lined. Ricky steps aside so the doctor can check Mariano’s
carotid artery. This makes sense because
the flat-line noise is not proof enough that the priest
has croaked. The doctor tells Ricky that
Mariano is a goner and makes no attempt to resuscitate him.
Piero enters the hospital lobby. Over the radio, he’d heard there’d been a
shoot-out involving Mariano. Ricky and
Jackie sadly return to the lobby and announce that Mariano is dead. Oriana holds her fiance as he cries while
Jackie gets comforted by her mother.
Feeling left out, Piero moves closer to Ricky and Oriana and clears his
throat.
Group hug? Ricky ain’t in the
mood. Piero says that Mariano was a
good man and lays a hand on Ricky’s shoulder.
He’d really like a group hug, but he doesn't want to appear too needy. Ricky practically tells Piero to go find his
own woman to cuddle with. He orders him
to go prepare the funeral and notify Mariano’s relatives. Piero tells Ricky that he hasn’t been able to
get in touch with Sebastian. Ricky
wonders out loud how they are going to tell Paloma that Mariano is dead.
Piero calls Homero, who is at the police station with Leo,
and tells him that Mariano is standing at the pearly gates. Homero informs the others of the priest’s
death. Leo says that he’s happy that he
killed Sammy the Bull. Homero wants to
know why Manolo hadn’t confiscated Sammy the Bull’s computer yet. Carmelo says that Leo will be his guest until
he sees the attorney general. Homero
agrees, but want’s his grandson to have his own cell. Leo doesn’t deserve to be Bubba’s bitch
because he killed Sammy the Bull in self-defense. Carmelo agrees. Soon after Homero and Manolo leave, Antonio
calls Samuel’s phone. Carmelo removes it out of the evidence bag and
informs Antonio that Samuel the Bull went straight to hell for killing a
priest, but asks Antonio to come in and give a statement. Antonio is shocked and says that he will be
right there.
Antonio hangs up and immediately runs into Escalona’s office. Sebastian watches as his father cleans the
money out of the safe and puts it in a Hefty Bag. Antonio tells Sebastian that he’s going to
the bank. Sebastian tells Antonio that
Matilde is with the I.R.S. Sebastian’s
not afraid of going to jail because he was just the copy boy. Antonio pats his son the back and tells him
to take care of himself. He flees the
building without offering Sebastian a 20 dollar bill or a heads up. Unbeknownst to Antonio, Sebastian follows him
to the bus station and watches him get on the bus to Tia Juana. Right around that time, Sebastian listens to
his message from Piero. Sebastian calls
Piero and tells him that Antonio got out of Dodge. Piero calls Homero.
Over at the Brothel, Lucia tells Cesar, Ruben and Raquel of the
death of the Mariano. Raquel blames
Jackie and says that Mariano should have never gotten involved with her. Raquel doesn’t like to talk about sad things
and leaves. Cesar regrets ever boinking
Raquel and hopes the baby isn’t his. He
thinks she’s heartless.
Rosa Skypes with Patrick and tells him that Sammy the Bull is
dead. She explains how he ambushed her
on the way to the airport and killed a priest.
Patrick could care less and asks about the CD. Yes, she has it, but the priest was her
daughter’s boyfriend (it’s a long story…she’ll explain later) and her daughter
is devastated. Patrick will send someone
over to get the CD…someone who may kinda be like a hit man. Andddd...he might kinda sorta try to kill you once he gets the CD. Rosa says no, she’ll hold on to CD and send
back Sammy the Bull’s body.
Back at Paraiso Real Estate Company, the auditors tell
Escalona and Matilde that there are too many errors in her documentation. She brushes it off and says that she just
signed the papers that were set in front of her. She’s got the job as president because she
invested her Aresti Breton stock. OMGosh
Auditor catnip! Another company to
investigate! Matilde asks Escalona about
Antonio. No one knows where he is.
Over at Paloma’s house, Oriana and Jose Luis are talking
about the massacre over the phone. Oriana confirms that Mariano is dead.
Yeah, he lost too much blood after Sammy the Bull shot him. Sammy the Bull died after Leo shot him with
an arrow. Jose Luis wants the family to leave
for the U.S. and live happily ever after.
Oriana says hell no and hangs up the phone.
Right about the time they hang up, Ricky enters the
courtyard. He’s really bummed out over
this Mariano thing. He says that Mariano’s
luck was changing. He was about to
become a doctor, he had a woman and could now stop lusting after Oriana. He remembered how the two had met when they
were teenagers. Mariano gave him boxing
lessons and they told each other everything.
He doesn’t want their luck to change.
He wants them to live to see their baby born and hear it call him daddy
and her mommy. Rhodalina interrupts and
asks why they are crying. Oriana
explains that their friend died and went to heaven. Rhodalina doesn’t want to die because she once had a premonition that her death will probably involve an electric chair. Ricky says that they will be fine as long as
the three of them are together and love each other. Group
hug!
The doctor is leaving from his visit with Paloma when he is
spied by Ricky and Oriana. The three
disentangle from their group hug and ask the doctor to stay. They have some bad news to tell Paloma and
she is going to need a sedative. Get your
needle out, says Ricky. Anyways, they go
into the house and tell Paloma that Mariano got whacked. She asks about Jackie. She’s alive, but she’s bummed. Paloma says that Mariano was like a son to
her.
At Aresti Breton, Sebastian recounts witnessing Antonio’s
daring escape by Greyhound. He asks if
Antonio is his father. Piero lies and tells
him that he (Piero) is his father. Sebastian
gives him a big hug.
Ricky and Oriana are back in the courtyard. Oriana asks Ricky how he could believe that
she could ever cheat on him with her husband.
Yes, Jose Luis has big feet and a big bank account. Yes, I
lived alone with him in his house for a while.
Yes, she wore Victoria Secret to bed and looked quite fetching in Santo
Domingo. Yes, she ran to him and stayed at
his house alone with my daughter for several days. Yes, my daughter took a picture of us kissing
and showed it to you. Yes, I sneak off
alone to be with him without our kid every so often. How is that suspicious? No, I didn’t tell you I was pregnant the
first and second time that you asked. But
why would you think that I would sleep with my ex-husband? The baby is yours. Why are you so jealous? Ricky apologizes several times because he’s
whipped. He suggests getting Raquel to
take a DNA test so that Jose Luis will obsess over that baby and leave them
alone. Otherwise, he wants to move to
Mexico City or Acapulco She can’t leave
Paloma.
Back at the Brothel, Jackie asks Lucia why Mariano did what
he did. Lucia explains that Mariano was
raised to believe that he was bullet-proof and that he from the planet
Krypton. Many people had tried to tell
him that he was not related to Superman, but he was stubborn and would never
listen. Really, who shows up to a gun fight with no gun? Anyway, Lucia goes on to explain that
Mariano did it to save her life. Jackie
is upset that Rosa didn’t give the CD to Sammy the Bull. If her mother would have given the CD to her
uncle, Mariano would still be alive. She
is upset that she didn’t get to “teach him to dance” aka (ride the baloney
pony) aka (get a little bit of little Mariano) before he died. Tramp. Jackie vows revenge on the entire mob. Anyways, Jackie says that her mom is a nobody now that Joaquin is dead.
Over the phone, Homero tells Piero that Paraiso will be shut
down soon. Manolo tells Homero that Leo
can’t go before the attorney general until tomorrow. Looks like he’ll be Bubba’s bitch after
all. Homero ain’t havin’ it and demands
to know who the Attorney General is. He
pleads his grandson’s case and Leo is freed before the rooster crows. The paparazzi meet him on the way out. They want to know if he is part of the
Olympic Archer team because he has a dead aim.
Ricky’s attorney steps in and does all of the talking.
Yes there was a funeral.
There was a sermon about some grain falling on the ground and eating
bread. They cried. Moving along now.
After the funeral, Ruben and Fedelia are hanging out at her
mansion. Fedelia’s is upset because
Mariano is dead, Ricky is chasing Oriana, Sebastian moved, Gabriel was
murdered, her sister is dead and her niece is doing hard time. She feels like she has no one. No one to live in that gigantic mansion with
her and all of her millions (hint.hint).
Ruben takes that hint and says that he might be a homeless, chronically unemployed,
playboy, but if she needs a mooch to move into the mansion and help her spend
her millions, he is her man. He asks her
to marry him. She says that she has
always loved him and readily accepts her new sugar momma position.
Across the lawn, in Blueberry Hill, Piero tells Ricky that
Antonio ran away and left Sebastian behind.
Sebastian told Piero that he knows that Ricky isn’t his father. He wanted to know if Antonio was his sperm
donor. Piero told him that he was his father. Ricky thanks him.
Ricky calls Oriana to check up on her. He sounds so bummed that she offers to go
over and give him a little lovin' to help him get over his pain. RICKY
SAID NO! It is late and Little Ricky
Ricardo was not in the mood. Once again,
before I move on…you heard it here first.
RICKY TURNED DOWN SEX. Rhodalina gets on the phone with Ricky and
tells him not to be sad because Mariano is in heaven with the angels. After they hang up, Rhodalina makes her
mother promise to never die.
The next morning (no, he was serious…they did not have sex!)
at Paraiso Real Estate Company, the auditors have completed their
investigation, but now the Feds have arrived.
They have orders to arrest anything with a pulse. The secretary runs in and tells Matilde that
the feds have closed down the building and they are on their way in. Matilde resists, but she’s dragged out of the
office. The secretary has to go too.
The auditors are licking their chops. They show up at Aresti Breton with a
warrant. Piero shows them to the
accounting department and tells them to search where ever they want.
The IRS agent tells Carmelo that everyone at Paraiso was
arrested except for Sebastian and Antonio.
Carmelo is surprised to hear that a Breton was involved with money
laundering.
Ricky has finally shown up for work. Piero informs him that the auditors are
auditing. Ricky is not worried; they are
clean. Piero is worried about Sebastian
because he knew all about the scheme.
Ricky tells Piero to call Homero to see how he can help. Sebastian provided evidence that bought down
the organization, so he should be OK. Piero
calls Sebastian and tells him to meet him at Homero’s.
Jose Luis calls Oriana.
He’s bought the plane tickets and wants them to leave right away. Oriana calls him crazy and hangs up.
Jackie is bitching at her mother about Mariano being
dead. Once again, she whines about not
being able to sexually violate our innocent priest before he died. She vows revenge against the entire mob for
being c*ck blockers.
Jose Luis learns from the news that Antonio escaped and is
wanted by the feds. He calls Antonio to
find out what happened. Antonio tells
him that the auditors showed up and shut the place down. Antonio wants Jose Luis to help him leave the
country. Get a plane over here right now
or he will squeal and tell all that he knows. Jose Luis asks him where he
is.
Back at the brothel, Oriana visits Lucina. She wants Raquel to get a DNA test and prove
that Jose Luis impregnated her. Lucina
says that Raquel is too afraid to get one because Cesar or the milkman might be
the father. Oriana hopes that Jose Luis
is the father so that he can direct his obsessive activities away from her. Raquel can have him and all of his money and
move to the U.S. Good riddance.
Matilde calls Cesar for a lawyer and bail money. She wants him to call Paloma and see if she
will help get her out. She assures her
son that she is innocent. He says that
he believes her.
Antonio is not happy to see Jose Luis when he shows up
without a plane or a helicopter at his secret hideout. Jose Luis tells him that he’s poor and can’t
afford those kinds of luxuries. Antonio
reminds him that he will tell the cops everything if he is caught. Jose Luis promises to help him. Relieved, Antonio hugs him and says that he
wants to show him something. We never
get to see what Antonio was going to show him because Jose Luis pulls out a gun
and whacks him. You gave me no choice,
he says with a smirk.
It has been a pleasure recapping Mentir Para Vivir for
you. I still loves me some Ricky! Jealous Ricky, crazy Ricky, horny Ricky…I
will take all of him.

I appreciated that Ori pointed out to Ricky that his kind of jealous is destructive and doesn't just go away. I'm not sure that Ricky did a convincing job of assuring her.
It was a noble gesture that Piero claimed paternity for Sebas, so that he wouldn't feel bad that his sperm donor is a jerk who left him to hang out to dry. But in the long run, is this a good idea? What if some sort of genetic issue or question comes up at some point?
How many more times is JL going to ask Ori to run away with him? She couldn't be more clear about saying no. I'm guessing he's going to stop asking, and will just force Ori and Lina to go with him.

This was so hilarious from start to finish. I'm sad I won't get to read your recaps anymore.
Thank goodness the doctor was already at Paloma's for the quick sedation after bad news delivery, but they better be careful from now on with the tragedies, Paloma may just get hooked on the sedatives and become a druggie.
It's so idiotic for Sam to assume that there is just one copy of the cd. But I don't know why JL didn't make several of them instead of just one.
And speaking of JL, he has crossed the line into cold blooded serial killer territory, and I think it makes it more likely that he won't survive until the end of this show.

This novella was aptly named because it seems like it is a reflex for everyone in the story to lie in response to any question put to them.
Poor Sebastian. He is all screwed up in the first place because of living a lie for the first 18 years of his life, then people lie to him some more. Piero could have responded to his question by saying some version of "Yes, Antonio is your biological father, but I have always thought of you as my son and I would love to be an adoptive father figure to you." Nope. Gotta lie.
And Orianna told Lina that she would never die. Not that everybody dies, but that she wouldn't die for a long, long time, but "I promise I will never die". These people are nuts.
Ricky's choice to forgo nooky was truly surprising.
I don't know why, but I just love Ruben.
Raquel has been a pretty tame antagonist. She is pretty avaricious but she doesn't ever seem malicious to me. And she was right about Mariano being killed because of his association with Jackie.

Gracias, Cynderella! I laughed through the entire thing...not just any laugh, but an evil cackle :D Your recaps have been just delicious. I think my favorite bit from tonight was about Jacki being c-blocked by the entire mob! Priceless!

Cynderella, I so enjoyed this incredibly hilarious recap. Your zany recaps have never failed to amuse us throughout this entertaining but uneven TN.
When Ricky told Inez that he was tired and didn't want her to come over, I thought no one might even notice... boy did I guess wrong. I should have known that Cynderella wouldn't miss the significance of that rejection and exploit it to the hilt. Heck, you made it the centerpiece of your title.
I chuckled when JL asked Antonio, "Where are you?" Gee, who could have guessed what was coming next? I think that the writers felt they needed to throw in that coldblooded murder to kill any residual sympathies that we might have for JL to prepare us for his ending.
How selfish of Inez and Ricky to think that JL is very dangerous for Inez and Alina so "Lets see if we can feed Raquel and her child to him instead." They've both grown so much, haven't they?
Finally, this cracked me up so much:

I thought that Piero did a noble thing by telling Sebastian that he was the father. We don't know if Antonio is the father since he didn't get tested and Maria was promiscuous. Telling him that he doesn't know who his father is, is not fair for Sebastian to live with. Giving Sebastian the idea and hope that his father is a descent caring man is the best thing he can do for him and who knows, maybe they can actually develop a father/son relationship from this. And then Piero can possibly be a grandfather too someday.

Cathyx, I don't want to produce rumors, but last week I read that when the Vendaval finishes they put PSMA the place of Vendaval early afternoon (2 or 3PM) (don't know exactly: end of March/start of April) because of low ratings, and QA starts a 8PM. I read this.

There is an old wives tale. Men with big feet and hands have other big things. I mention them because JL is huge. When I recap, I give everyone a motive for their actions no matter how dumb the action seems. When I mention JL's boats, I'm trying to explain the reason that both Orianna and Raquel would stay with him. He's Crazy. There has to be another reason why and I've attributed it to his shoe size. Hope that helps.
P.S. I did the same thing with Piero. He stood there staring at Ricky and Oriana while she comforted Ricky. I thought he wanted a hug too, but was too afraid to say it.

Fatima, I am also still wondering about that portrait. Why on earth would they have it look just like Oriana and never have anyone comment on it and never explain it at all.
Thanks for the info about QA, Alejo. I had been wondering what was going to happen with it since at one time it was supposedly going to follow MPV. I saw little snippets of it when I was in Mexico and it looked promising. It'd be wonderful for me if that all happens the way you've said, though a bummer for the PSMA fans.

Will the filming of Quiero Amarte be done filming before they show it here? --> No, I don't think, because we don't know that what will follow QA in Mexico. They talked about La malquerida remake, but its in infancy and there are also rumors about deletion.
A few weeks later we"ll know that it was true or false info. I do not consider it impossible, but I am also a bit skeptical.
