De Que Te Quiero, Te Quiero #3- Wed 3/12
Diana takes Rodrigo's condition as an excuse to eavesdrop on Diego and then rub herself all over him. Once she's outside, she calls the maid at the house and offers her money in exchange for NOT finding Natalia.
Who is diligently looking for work in the DF paper. I approve of her choice of pink highlighter.
A few days later and La Fonda Los 6 Garcia isn't doing so well. Brigitte the Brat passes on the gossip that everyone is saying Natalia ran off WITH Andres and is turning out just like her mom. Natalia's brother pressures Carmen to tell him what's going on.
Hilda fed Diego the story that she gave Natalia his cell number, but Natalia wouldn't give Hilda her number.
At the mall, Natalia picks up some stones at the good vibes kiosk…and they work right away--the owner wants to hire her to work on commission.
Grumpy Grandpa gets even grumpier when the cops tell him their investigation isn't going anywhere. He decides to take this straight to the DA (or the applicable Mexican equivalent).
Carmen spilled the frijoles to Natalia's brother, who thinks it's best to go to the cops so that "Diego" can pay for the crime of attempted rape instead of being treated like the victim. Carmen chickens out when they hear the cops grousing about how the DA is demanding they get some results. Outside, she explains to Natalia's brother that money talks and it's best if the entire family gets the heck out of Tuxpan.
Diego has decided to go to Tuxpan, but it seems like telling Diana about it was a big mistake.
Carmen sold off the fonda, just like that, and for cash. She announces to the kids that they're moving. Business sucks, the 'hood sucks, and she's ready to pull up stakes. Brigitte the Brat is thrilled, but they're all surprised to hear this move is happening ASAP. The movers will be there at 6am, so she tells the kids to start packing and calls Padre Juancho…who isn't home. So she calls her godmother instead to tell her the news, but lies about the reason. Godmother invites the family to stay until they find their own place, Eleazar and his frowny face be damned!
Padre Juancho isn't thrilled to find out that Natalia's working at, erm, an "esoteric shop," but he seems happier when Luz (the godmother) comes over to tell them that the rest of the family will be arriving tomorrow.
Carmen and her brood bid a teary farewell to their stylishly mint house and head for the DF.
Diana calls to give Hilda advance warning of Diego's arrival and to harass her some more about keeping up the lie. Hilda smiles sweetly and tells Diana not to forget the nice bonus she promised.
Los Garcia are 6 once again, and they start moving their stuff into Luz and Eleazar's place.
Diego finds Natalia's house, where a kind and helpful neighbor tells him that Natalia turned out to be as slutty as her mom and ran off with Andres. Diego remembers her saying that she and Andres were just friends. Helpful neighbor says Andres finally wore her down. Shut up, helpful neighbor.
Diana calls Hilda, yet again, to screech at her and grouse about how Diego must have gone straight to Tuxpan to hook up with the townie. Diana is sooooo standard-issue it grates. I'm predicting she gets Diego drunk, makes it look like they slept together, and uses a (potentially fake) pregnancy to get him to marry her.
Diego heads for the police station to get an update on his brother's case. Neither the local cops, nor the investigators the DA sent have anything remotely resembling a lead. The investigators' ears perk up when they hear Natalia isn't living in Tuxpan anymore, even though Diego said he didn't think she had anything to do with it. Seriously? Diego says he was going to hook up with someone at the festival and that makes her a suspect? Diego goes out to the beach to mourn his lost love.
Eleazar is predictably unhappy to find out that Carmen and her family are now living with his mother, but Mama puts her foot down. Carmen butts in to let Eleazar know that they have no intention of staying with Luz long-term.
Diana has called Hilda for YET ANOTHER update, but they're interrupted by Diego coming to ask Hilda what exactly Natalia said when they talked. Hilda maligns Natalia, saying girls around there run off with whatever sailor shows up to sweep them off their feet. Diana calls Diego, who says the cops don't know squat and there's no reason for him to stay there. She bounces up and down in excitement, thinking she's gotten rid of her rival for good.
Montage of everyone settling into a post-Tuxpan life. Mr. 5ft suggests Diana's going to start drugging those drinks she and Diego are sharing. Post-Tuxpan life includes school for Natalia, a new apartment for the Garcias, and…sadly…Diana and Diego hooking up. Even Grumpy Grandpa doesn't look happy about that. Profits…that's what makes Grumpy Grandpa happy. Natalia graduates from computer school. The Garcias start another fonda. Brigitte is still a Brat. Diego puts a ring on it. In the church, no less.
Two years pass.
Drugs in the drink or no, Diego and Diana are still getting along.
The fonda officially opens, complete with blessing from Padre Juancho, live music, dancing, and tacos. No Eleazar, though, and Carmen's developing a thicker skin about it. Seems like she has a new pretendiente (suitor)…silver fox Carlos. Who turns down the offer of a taco. OK, that's it, I don't trust him. Carmen introduces Carlos to her kids…Brigitte (the Brat), Natalia, Abdul, Paolo ("mi negrito" dark-skinned boy), and Lupita.
Grumpy Grandpa is also happy when Diego closes deals. He feels overworked, though. It doesn't help that he fired his secretary.
Carlos is a bad dancer, but he makes Carmen laugh. And he makes Eleazar scowl when he finally bothers to show up and finds Carmen having a good time instead of pining over him. He turns down a taco, too.
Somebody…not his assistant, since he fired her…buzzes Grandpa to tell him he's running late for a meeting and Diego offers to go instead.
Eleazar is so upset that he vents to one of his underlings over tortas (big 'ol sammiches!) about Carmen…"And don't call her 'that Carmen woman,' it's 'Carmen.'" They get summoned to interrogate a woman who was arrested at the airport for having drugs in her luggage. She claims she packed her own bags and has no idea how the drugs got there. Eleazar seems to believe her and tells his underling it's the same old story--they fall for some guy and he ends up using them to smuggle drugs.
Abdul leaves the party early to make sure they'll have enough fish for tomorrow and to hang out with his friends before they're officially open and he has to work his ass of every day. Carlos tells Carmen and Luz that he's a widower and has been living in DF for five years.
Diego gets carjacked on the way to the meeting grandpa was running late for. (For which grandpa was running late?)
Tomorrow: Diana has a lover (wait, somebody on this show actually likes her?); the continuing story of Diego's carjacking.
Labels: te-quiero
I'm not happy that after all that "No, Diana, there's nothing between us, I'm so not into you!" she really did just have to get Natalia out of the way. I mean, that's it?!
Hope your artistic projects are going well. :)
Fatima
I don't know why I didn't think about it, but the church wedding is not cool. How is he going to get out of that?
If the opening is any indication there are still more characters waiting in the wings.
Thank you so much for these recaps!
PS could you shoot me a quick email, 5ft?
I'm so glad to see a heroine going through and finishing a postsecondary school program. Good for Nat! Those Garcias are hard workers and don't seem to have suffered from not having a father around. But I do hope Carmen's baby making oven in shut down. I don't trust the Spaniard.
Hi Fatima! Yeah, I'm in between concerts and in between major holidays, so the timing on this one is good :D
No one has said jack about Rodrigo once we hit the "two years pass" mark. They never even said he *was* in a coma, though, really, what else could be going on, if he's not dead. Oh, I should not have said that! Maybe he's not in a coma and in some kind of rehab facility. Anyway, Rodrigo has disappeared from the radar.
Yep, they married in the church...Diana has signed her own death warrant, if we're going the traditional route.
Sara, I either just emailed you or freaked out some other Sara :D
Hi Vivi...they may not be full recaps always. I think this one barely qualifies. It helps when there are fewer convoluted conversations. This one is pretty straightforward, with the action giving plenty of cues, instead of all those "a bunch of people sit in a room and talk and then someone looks really angry and gets up and walks out" scenes that need way more explanation.
The info on the Televisa website is that Rodrigo is in a coma. I hope that's not a spoiler. Is Uni editing thus one too?
I was assuming coma, but isn't it odd that we didn't even get a token shot of Rodrigo in a hospital bed, maybe with Diego or grandpa sitting by his bed? Oh, who am I kidding, Grumpy Grandpa probably thinks only profits will save his boy!
Sara, this is why Uni really needs to watch themselves. Once a network has a reputation for cutting tns, every time you see something shaky with edits or the plot, you think they're cutting again.
In spite of Marcelo, I'm still wavering on this..
And you know you can't wait for Marcelo to finally admit his undying luuuuuurve for Carmen and get the frown off his cute little scruffy face :D
I say so far, so good. It's good to see the young ones. FC, Jorge Salinas can't be galans much longer. We definitely don't want to see anymore 50 yr old virgins, like Juan in FELS.
I see a real future for Livia Brito.
I've seen her in her other 2 novelas
Triunfo del amor, Abysmal de pasión, excellent in both in addition to being beautiful.
Her bio on wiki says that her father owned a restaurant in Mex, no mention of acting.
