De Que Te Quiero, Te Quiero #167, El Gran Final 8/29/2014

De que tenemos un final feliz, un final feliz

Once again we all must thanks Kat for taking this tn on all by herself.  Without her enthusiasm, I might have let this one past by.  And though we’ve had some downs lately with the plot, the beauty of this blog is the community that Jane has created.  It is so much fun to virtually watch tns with others and laugh, scream, and mock (Ferro explains in the banner and informs new bloggers about our antics because our mocking can be misunderstood as hate) the craziness that is in most telenovelas.  And we learn some Spanish too.  Thank you for your kind words and encouragement as a recapper because the talent we have here is extraordinary, one can get very intimated.  Kat, Sara, and Vivi are some the best of the best and I have been honored to share time with them and you.  And now, the final episode...

De Que Te Quiero, Te Quiero #166, 8/28/2014

De Que Ellas Son Rehenes, Son Rehenes o De Que No Hay Pila, No Hay Pila

All, it’s been my great pleasure recapping for you all. I’m glad Kat started us on this road. For the most part, it has been delightful. I especially want to thank my fellow recappers, and this fantastic group of commenters! Now, on to the recap!

Rod has taken both Natalia and Brigitte as his hostages (rehenes) at gunpoint, and left El and his team unarmed and handcuffed to the stair railings. He’s ordered that a squad car be left running for him. He smacks Nat unconscious in the back seat, and orders Brigitte to sit next to him in the front. Brigitte begs him to let HER go, and to think of their child. He tells her he couldn’t care less (me importa un comino) about her and the baby. Plus, she betrayed him! She swears she didn’t betray him. He doesn’t believe it

Nat wakes up, assesses the situation, and decides to play hero(ine). She puts a choke hold on Rod, causing him to swerve and then stop the car. He breaks free of her hold and threatens to pistol whip her again. He orders them both to the floor of the back seat, and threatens to shoot them if they cause any more trouble. They both cower on the floor, and Nat cradles Brigitte protectively. Nat finds her cell phone and stealthily makes a call.

El and his team are free and El calls Captain Vermudez. The captain is NOT pleased and won’t even allow El to go inform Carmen in person that her two daughters have been taken hostage by a lunatic. El goes anyway, and breaks the terrible news to Carmen with a hug, while Mushroom listens sadly. Carmen is inconsolable and demands that El return her daughters to her!

De Que Te Quiero, Te Quiero #165 - Wed 8/27

De que casi todos tomaron malas decisiones, tomaron malas decisiones!

In the lawyer's office, Diego explains to Nat that he's owed her the divorce for a while and hands her the papers.  I believe cake is also customary…no?

Eleazar downs a glass of champagne in an effort to exorcise the ghosts of Carmen's past enamorados.  Carmen declares she's alllll his and after some steamy smooches, retreats to the bathroom to get…ahem…more comfortable.  Unfortunately, El is still having auditory hallucinations of the exes in question and starts checking the room for them.  Carmen, in a gorgeous purple negligee set gets El back on track.  They fall to the bed and I seriously hope the audible commentary from Los Ex playing in the background while the animated hearts float by was only for us and not playing in El's head.

The lawyer explains that since they were both in agreement to divorce in the first place, all they have to do is sign.  Natalia refuses to sign and walks out.  Hey, now, I'm SURE there's a mandatory declaration of "No te voy a dar el divorcio!" (I'm not going to give you a divorce) that's supposed to go with that.

De Que Te Quiero Te Quiero #164- Tuesday 8/26/14

De que se han olvidado del testamento (y otras cosas), se han olvidado
Soooo. Last DQTQTQ recap. Can't say as the show is going out on  a high note and tonight's episode proves it, BUT I have really enjoyed the camaraderie and conversation! Thank you again, Kat for getting this started. And thanks to Karen and Vivi as well for jumping in when the marathons began! Thanks, too to all the folks who commented!!!!

In the interest of full dislosure: I didn't take one stinkin' note and I didn't pay close attention. I've organized by "couples" (used loosely.)

Carmen and El
The get busy "reconciling", but a radio call from Cenudo breaks up their fun. Rod has robbed a drug store.

Karina and Alonso
Karina begs to help her get HOTscar back. They discuss how the baby daddy thing is going to work out with Oscar in the picture. Alonso wants it to be clear that HE is the father. Karina promises that the baby will know that Al is his dad and Oscar is her husband.

De Que Te Quiero Te Quiero #163- Monday 8/25/14

De que no dijeron NADA del testamento, no dijeron NADA

Refrito
  • That stupid making puma sounds business.
  • Nat “saves” Diego. Mouth to mouth.
Lo Nuevo
Luz tell Lupita that El and Carmen are getting back together. Lupita asks if she can call her “abuela” instead of “madrina.”

Simona comes back and she’s looking for Diego. Carmen notes her splotchy appearance. Simona explains.

Diego tells Nat she’s the love of his life. Nat says he’s the love of her life. She wants assurances that he’s not just being impulsive and she wonders about Simona. He assures her he loves her and that Simona has left the campsite and him. They smooch and hit the ground.

De Que Te Quiero Te Quiero #162, 8/22/2014

De que son adolescentes, son adolescentes

I didn't take notes and I probably should have. Please fill in. Oh, and there was no mention of the will.

I'll just start with Rod, Al and the tribunal (for lack of a better word.) Al reports that Rod is perfectly responsible for his acts and should rot. Rod continues with his act. "Oh yeah?" he sneers "If I'm so OK, then why do I see Dead Al standing right behind you?" Rod says some other things and Al is pushed to his limits and starts punching Rod. Way to go, dude. Ruin the case. Rod is carted off to the hospital. I'm sure this is setting up for lax security and an escape. Al gets yelled at for beating up on Rod.

El and Luz manage to catch up with the Garcias. They happen upon Paolo and Mara (who are still attempting a little hubba hubba in the woods.) El announces his move to Mérida. Carmen haz a sad. Lupita is also upset and El tells her he'll always care for her. I seem to remember Luz says something to El about at least letting Lupita know he's not really moving, but El is sure Lupita will squeal. Carmen has to believe that he's really leaving.

De Que Te Quiero Te Quiero #161, 8/21/2014

De que el campamento fué un desastre, fué un desastre

A Tale of Three Campsites

Campsite #1: Luz & El
El and Luz continue to search for the Garcias, while El rehearses the many different ways he can tell Carmen that he loves her. He’s pleased to learn that Carmen has not yet been told about his work transfer. Unfortunately, neither Luz nor Lupita realized just how large the comet viewing area is, and the lack of cell phone service means that they are unable to coordinate to meet up.

El uses old fashioned tracking skills to find them. He sees the smoke from their lunch camp fire in the distance, but when he and Luz arrive at the site, the Garcias have already moved on an hour ago, by El’s estimates. With night falling, El decides to call it a day and set up camp for the night. Luz is disappointed, but mother and son end up bonding and reminiscing, and the woman El says I love you to that night is his mama Luz. As they snuggle down in their sleeping bags for the night, they hear the faint sounds of a cumbia beat floating through the air. El smiles.

Campsite #2: The Garcias & Company
Paolo’s mini green car is so loaded down with camping gear that it’s not a surprise when a tire blows out. Since the Garcias always take lemons and make lemonade, Carmen decides it’s the perfect time to fire up the grill and make lunch, play some soccer, and chillax. The Gracias even convince Irene to stay, with the promise that she can borrow some clothes from Abdul to suit her boyish (caballona) figure.

The Mushroom does his best to avoid having fun. And there are plenty of reasons for him to frown. 1) An errant soccer ball knocks over the lunch camp fire, topples the food to the ground, and starts a large blaze. The Gracias put it out and keep on moving to the final camp site. 2) A flare (sent up by El in an effort to alert the Garcias to their location) falls out of the sky and right onto Abdul’s tent, setting it ablaze. The Garcias decide to all pile into Irene’s giant tent, leaving Mushroom all alone in his tent. 3) The sky is too cloudy for the comet to be seen. The Garcias decide to dance cumbia around the camp fire instead. 4) The sky opens up and starts pouring rain. The Garcia’s snuggle up and keep each other warm in their tent, while Mushroom freezes in his. Carmen allows him to share their tent, as long as he stays as far away from her as possible! The Mushroom sulks.

De Que Te Quiero Te Quiero #160 Wednesday 8/20/14

De Que me importa un rábano, me importa un rábano

Disagree with me if you will, but nothing happened.

They all got ready to go camping. The end.

But if I must, here's a rápido recap.

Paul sees an internet article about a comet.

Brat whines about working.

Lupita imagines Carmen's rage if she found out Lupita lied and told El that Carmen was with Paul.

El wonders  how to get Carmen back. He rehearses "te amo."

Rod is taken from his cell for an evaluation. He stinks. They're taking him to the showers.

Paul interrupts a family B!tch about Brat fest with his telescope. Somehow a huge camping trip is planned.

Al talks to Rod. Rod tries to play crazy.

Lupita is pithed about the trip and doesn't want to go.

Rod asks Al about Brat and makes a lewd comment about her coming for a conjugal visit.

Lupita tells her mom about the lie she told El (that Paul and Carmen were an item.) Carmen is not moved. She doesn't want to be with a man who doesn't trust her.

El and Al talk about the evaluation. El just wants Rod in jail for a long time.

Rod calls Brat from jail and tells her she'll be back in jail with him soon.

Diego and Simona are still trying to decide on a location. He sees the internet article about the stupid comet.

Camping plans. Camping plans. Irene had a successful meeting with a boutique with locations all over Mexico. Camping plans. Paolo and Mara talk about *whispers in ear* en pleno bosque (in the middle of the forest?) Camping plans. Paul b!tches about the family cramping his peaceful comet watching style and turning it into a pachanga. Hell, they'll probably bring cumbia music. Carmen reminds Lupita to pack the Cumbia CDs and tells her she can't tell El where they are going. More camping plans. Irene and Nat shop for too much camping gear.

Rod provokes Al.

Lupita fibs about dead camera batteries so Carmen has to leave. She runs to Luz.

Diego shops for camping supplies.

Lupita and Luz cook up a plan in which Luz will ask El to take her to see the comet.

Al wants to be objective. He really doesn't think Rod is crazy. He calls Paul for a consult. They meet. Paul thinks Rod is completely responsible for his actions. Let him rot (I took some liberties with that line.) Meanwhile, Rod hopes everyone has believed his crazy act.

Luz call El and tells him about wanting to go camping and see the comet. He's on to her. He knows something's up. He goes investigating and sees the boys with all the camp gear. He figures it's a perfect place to confess his love to Carmen.

Simona packs and since Diego didn't think he should give her any hints everything she packs is kind of inappropriate.

Everyone ignores Brat.

Al reports his findings to Vicente. Vicente is saddened by the news that Rod will have to serve a sentence in jail, but agrees it's what Rod deserves.

Everyone finally gets on the road (Paolo's car looks like it belongs to the Joads.) El trained in Israel?? Qué? Simona is still asking where they are going. She doesn't seem to happy when she gets there.

Paolo gets a flat. Carmen wants to relax and fix some food and enjoy. Paul is miffed. Lupita panics. How is she going to alert Luz where they are?? There's no cell phone coverage.

Luz is with El wondering how she'll find out where the others are. El mentally rehearses "te amo." Luz lets it slip that Carmen still doesn't know about El's plans to move to Mérida. El thinks that's great. He can let her think she's losing him, THEN spring the "te amo" on her.

Simona has allergies.

Avances
I didn't pay attention.

De Que Te Quiero, Te Quiero #159 - Tues 8/19

De que Karina obtiene un ganador, HOTscar es un ganador

El consults with little Al about Rod.  Is Rod crazy or just playing?  El does not want Rod to get away with murder so to prove Rod is not crazy Al may have to do the psych evaluation.  The judge lets Brat go on bail and El calls Paul to let him know.

De Que Te Quiero, Te Quiero #158 - Mon 8/18

De que muchas corazones se están rompiendo, se están rompiendo

Simona asks Diego what Nat was talking about in the office. Diego explains that Rodrigo did a lot of stuff to break them up, but it doesn't matter, it's over, and he's ready to move on.

Alonso goes over the hospital to ask Oscar, aka HOTscar what his intentions are toward Karina.  Reminder, Alonso…you're the baby daddy, not Karina's daddy.

Paul wants Carmen to be more supportive of Brigitte, but Carmen is just tapped out of compassion.  El leaves Paul and Carmen to talk.  Paul's surprised about Brigitte as well, but he doesn't want to just leave her to her fate.  Carmen doesn't think she can handle it and Paul pats her ineffectually until she cries on his shoulder.  He looks uncomfortable.

HOTscar tells Alonso he felt sorry for her, because she was so alone, and then started calling her.  He apologizes for thinking Karina was "alone" since Alonso's presence proves she's not.

Paul goes out to tell El that Carmen doesn't want to talk to Brigitte.  El understands her heartbreak, having watched the way Carmen raised all the kids.  He asks Paul to help Carmen as much as he can.  Paul wants to see Brigitte…

De Que Te Quiero, Te Quiero #157, 8/15/14

De que por poco me dormí, me dormí

Can anyone recap for me Tuesday (August 19th)? It's Open House and I won't be home til late.

The beginning bits may be a little out of order.

Alonso's secretary is a dirty, rotten spy. What does Al care if Karina as an admirer? The sneaky broad managed to get Oscar's name and to pass it on to Al. Al calls the hospital, but Oscar the camillero (hospital porter/stretcher-bearer) is on his break.

Mali mentions that Brigitte is starting to show. She gets a tongue lashing from Brat. Carmen reminds Brat a child is a gift. Mali feels bad for setting off Brat. Poor Mali.

Simona is good at business. Even Vicente likes her. Nat pouts. Somebody said conejillo de Indias (guinea pig) at the meeting, but I didn't catch the context. I think Irene was concerned about Telerman not having a lot of experience with fashion textiles and using Eskenda as the guinea pig to expand their business (I completely made that up, but it sounded good didn't it?)

Rod goes to the airport. He is cleverly disguised in a white cap and shades. Reina fans know that only BLACK caps fully disguise the wearer.

De Que Te Quiero, Te Quiero #156, 8/14/14

De Que Todo No se Vale en el Amor y la Guerra, Todo No se Vale en el Amor y la Guerra

Not much happened tonight folks, so I’m keeping it short and sweet.

Diego’s captors take him bound and gagged to the police station. El, Morales and their police crew have been informed of “Rod’s” capture and hustle him off to the cells without question. Mom and son bounty hunters tell El every detail of the capture and then try to get their reward, while Diego tries to convince the underling cops guarding his cell that he’s in fact Diego. They don’t believe him, so he uses the ruse of needing to use the bathroom to knock one of the cops out and make a run for it. He is swiftly knocked out cold by another cop. El informs Alonso and Grumps of Rod’s capture, and Grumps informs Irene. They all rush to the police station. By the time Irene and Grumps get there, Diego has managed to convince El and Al of his identity by telling them things only Diego would know. Bounty hunter mom and son don’t believe the twin story and think the cops just don’t want to give them the million peso reward. El is able to pacify them by saying they'll get a letter of commendation, AND a police escort back home.

At Caprico, Simona makes the mistake of asking Nat if she’s seen Diego. She hasn’t been able to reach him all weekend since she saw him Saturday evening. Unfortunately, Nat has decided that all is fair in love and war. In other words, she’s decided she can be a mean girl. She tells Simona about Diego being seen kissing on some older lady that weekend, and that it’s not unusual for him to just disappear for a couple of days like this. Even after Nat learns that Diego actually spent the weekend tied up (literally), she’s content with letting Simona continue to believe that Diego is a cheater and a flake.

De Que Te Quiero, Te Quiero #155 - Wednesday 8/13

De que todo es cuestión de Lupita, todo cuestión Lupita

Hola amigas/os.  I thought this was going to be another grumpy Karen installment but by God’s grace I had a Lupita heavy episode.  I recapped a bit of the two dunces who kidnaped Diego in spite of my  poor nerves (think Jane Austen’s Mrs. Bennet) but later pulled out my recapper privilege card.  But I promise I included the important stuff.  Thanks so much Sara for this important option.

Rod manages to escape his latest conquest and almost – unfortunately almost–  gets caught by the police.

De Que Te Quiero, Te Quiero #154 - Tuesday 8/11

De que no puedo más, no puedo más.
Ok, can I just start with the Avances?

Q.

T.

H.

?

Andres is going to show that picture of Rodrigo smooching the ruca (which annoyed me. She didn't look that old to me...or worn out) to Nat and she's going to fall for it?! Please. Make this stop.

Well, on to the recap. School started yesterday, so I'm a little punchy. Pardon my brevity and grumpiness.

El gets his evidence and proceeds to show it to Alonso and Diego (that won't compromise the case at all.)

Karina is still lonely and falling back into her old habits of emotional blackmail. She also uses the word "incubator" a lot. It reminds me of Diana. Alonso spends the episode trying to appease her. He knows he needs to get someone to stay with her. He ropes his secretary into the job. Meanwhile, the mail nurse asks a hospital administrator for Karina's phone number. I'm all for this. Maybe he will shut her up.

De Que Te Quiero, Te Quiero #153 - Mon 8/11

De que encontraron pruebas, encontraron pruebas

El sees Carmen's frantic mouth-to-mouth of the Mushroom Man and as usual, comes to the wrong conclusion.  He kills a perfectly innocent bouquet of roses.  Carmen tastes Paul's soup to see QTH kind of spice wimp he is and not only notices just how spicy it is, but notices the innocent face of Lupita peeking around the counter.

Grumps wonders what Rodrigo is living off of, out there in the cold, cruel world.  But, oh, well, whatevs.  Diego brings up his plan to partner with another company and Grumps heartily approves.  Caprico's reputation should earn her the interest of plenty of suitable suitors.  And, in the meantime, there's enough cash in the safe (dun, dun, dun) to cover their expenses for 2 months.

Rodrigo ponders how far he's fallen, having to buy suits…off the rack!  At the mall!  He runs into Karina, who mistakes him for Diego, but still wonders why he's at the mall, buying a cheap suit.  He makes an excuse about it being a present for the chauffeur, for his daughter's wedding, and Karina goes on her merry way.  She's already showing a little bit of a bump.

Karina was on her way to meet with Alonso.  She jokes that she's getting fat and happy and mentions running into Diego.  Alonso asks her to wait while he runs after…Rodrigo!  Rod gets away, but Alonso calls Eleazar to tell him where he saw Rod.  El says he needs details…in person.

De Que Te Quiero, Te Quiero #151- Friday 8/8/2014

De que hablan mucho, hablan mucho.
So.many.words.

So.little.plot.

Vivi, thank you for yesterday's recap!

Really short and sweet. Minimal details.
  • Irene and Grumps hug it out.
  • El ignores Carmen's call.
Brat (Brigitte) is still looking for work. Paul le Champignon (MM) overhears her griping about her father not helping her. He doesn't think he should be just a sugar daddy. She shouldn't have something if she doesn't deserve it. Brat leaves in a huff (when does she NOT leave in a huff?) Carmen lets MM know they can only be friends.

De Que Te Quiero, Te Quiero #150, 8/7/2014

De que lo denunció, lo denunció

Vicente pays a visit to El at the police station and squeals on Rod. He tells El that Rod killed Alberto, and that it was his (Vicente’s) fault for not putting a stop to Rod sooner and for enabling him. El graciously tells Vicente that only Rod is to blame for his actions. It really seems that Grumps has finally seen the light, until he makes his condition for turning Rod in known. He thinks Rod was damaged by the 2 year coma, and that’s what’s turned him into a homicidal thief. He wants the police to declare him mentally ill and charge him as such. El is just gearing up to tell him hell no, when his boss comes in and mistakenly thinks that El has reopened the case all on his own, and is harassing Vicente. Vicente actually speaks up and says he’s there to turn in his grandson himself.

Meanwhile, back at the mansion, Diego and Rosa try to distract Rod and keep him away from Grumps’ empty room. Rod yells for Lala to serve them some dinner, but she’s with Grumps, so Diego and Rosa lie and stall some more. Lala, meanwhile, sends a detailed text to Rosa about where they are and what Vicente is doing. In a rookie move, Rosa leaves her cell phone on Vicente’s bed—the perfect place for Rod to see and read all about how they have been trying to get one over on him. He erases the message and tells Diego he has to leave to see a client. Instead, he goes to Caprico to transfer the last of the company’s funds into his bank account.

The cops come to the mansion with Lala, who mentions the text. Diego quickly realizes that Rod must have seen the message and that he has fled. The police arrive at Caprico just as Rod has finished his transfer, and he sees them through his office window. By the time El and his team burst into his office, Rod has made his escape—he’s running across Caprico’s roof. Diego calls El, and informs him that: 1) Rod knows; and 2) he’s (Diego) on his way to Caprico. (Is it really a good idea to head right into a situation where armed cops are searching for and gunning for your IDENTICAL TWIN? Yeah, the cops who stopped Diego and demanded identification didn’t think so either.) El heads to the roof and gives chase. Both he and Rod do some athletic jumps off a neighboring roof and take the chase to the streets. El yells at Rod to freeze, pointing his gun at his retreating form. Diego hears and runs right towards them!

De Que Te Quiero, Te Quiero #150 - Wednesday 8/6

De que no está muerto, no está muerto.
Is anyone surprised that I continue to have cable woes? Now my DVR is freezing and rebooting itself randomly. Thank God it didn't affect my watching and taking notes, but while I was playing back to translate Tad's letter, the picture froze and the box rebooted itself. I took notes tonight, but not a lot. Sorry if there aren't more details. Aaaand  I have another cable guy coming out tomorrow.

Hilda forgot the address so had to come back earlier than expected. The door is locked and Rod is still with Tib. Hilda calls out that she's going to go get someone with the key and Rod slips out.

Andres acts like a petulant child and thinks Diego is just at the funeral to bust moves on Nat. Diego over hears and informs him that he's there for his Aunt, but if he's making Andres uncomfy he'll leave. Nat thinks Andres is the one who should leave.

Hilda realizes something is wrong with Tib and calls for the nurse (? what exactly was that person's position?)

Rod is back at his office and gloats about leaving no witnesses. He fires up his computer and gets a message about there being in interruption in the last process that was trying to run. He calls the secretary and tells her to get the IT Crowd (Have you tried turning it on and off again?)

De que murió hoy, murió hoy

Well friends we knew this was coming but that doesn’t make it any better.  Grab your beverage of choice, get tissues if you need them (I know I will, it’s sad and very well acted), and hunker down.  Sadly there is little to celebrate this evening.

Mushroom Man (MM or Paul) shows up at the fonda, finds the note Mali wrote for Carmen revealing El’s clue, and learns Carmen and El have never been intimate.  He’s already gross so finding this out just makes me ill.
