De Que Te Quiero, Te Quiero #5- Fri 3/14

De que está confundido, está confundido!

Diana and her honey enjoy some post-coital champagne.  She really needs to cut it out with all that "I love Diego" business.  You keep on using that word, Diana…I do not think it means what you think it means!

Abdul heard from Paolo that Diego showed up at the house and he's pissed.  He wants to go confront him, but Carmen tells him to stay out of trouble.  She makes him Vulcan-promise.

Diego was suspicious about not being able to get in touch with Diana.  She's doing a terrible job of lying, but it appears his suspicion was a ploy.  He tells her about hiring Karina and she whines about what an exhausting day she's had.  Diego's trying to chill out with some poetry, but he can't stop thinking about Natalia screaming at him earlier and he's incredibly confused about it.

Brigitte the brat pressures her mom to calculate the day's take already…she wants some $$$ for stuff.  Carlos calls to ask Carmen out, but she turns him down.  Brigitte is way too interested in hooking her mom up with Carlos, but she probably sees him as her ticket to new jeans, "travel" and buying whatever she wants, like she whined about wanting to do a minute ago.  She insists Carmen call and invite Carlos over for dinner.

At dinner, Padre Juancho can't figure out why Diego showed up either.  He thinks maybe they should tell Eleazar and see what he thinks, you know, from a cop's POV.  Carlos shows up with a beautiful bouquet of flowers and he remembers the names of all the kids, so he scores some points there.  After dinner, Carlos has the family enthralled with a gambling story where the punch line is that everyone else won a lot of money, but he forgot to place his bet.  Natalia is ready for bed, so the party breaks up.  Carlos offers Padre Juancho a ride back to his parish…really sucking up there, aren't you Carlos?  Carmen admits to Brigitte that it was a good idea to invite him over.  Brigitte's like "Yeah, and he's rich.  Tap that, ma!"

Natalia reports to Caprico and she's thrilled to hear that the job is part-time, so she can keep working at the Good Vibes Kiosk.  She offers the HR guy an amulet and he says once he runs this by the Veep's office it'll be official and she'll start tomorrow.  Natalia runs into Diego again on her way out of the elevator and she freaks out when he manhandles her into the elevator, insisting on talking to her.  He begs her to listen to him.

Meanwhile, back in HR, Karina signs her paperwork, but she didn't actually bother to read it, so she has to ask what her salary is.  The HR guy tells her to report to her boss and she smarms about already knowing where to find him, since she's a friend of the family.  HR guy gives her a report to deliver…say goodbye to your report, dude.

Trapped in the elevator, Natalia is terrified and can't listen to Diego, while he's saying stuff like "What's the big deal?" and "You're acting like I did something bad."  He brings up her allegedly running off with Andres and tries to touch her face, but she bites his hand and escapes.  Who knows what the crowd waiting to get in thought was going on when Natalia comes running out of the elevator.

Karina reports to Diego in his office and hands over the folder from HR. He's indifferent, telling her they'll talk about her job later and she can pick whatever desk she wants.  Karina immediately calls Diana to complain that Diego doesn't seem to want her there.  Diana, of all people, tells her that work is work, friends are friends, and she'd better suck it up if she doesn't want to get fired.  Karina flubs answering the phone and has no idea where to find the coffee Diego asks for.

Diego opens the folder and finds Natalia's new hire paperwork.  He ignores Karina when she shows up with the coffee.  Diego goes to HR to find out why HR didn't hire Natalia as the secretary instead of Karina.  He avoids involving Diana in the explanation, but says he offered Natalia the typist job.  Diego signs off on hiring her and tells HR guy to send her to his office as soon as she reports to work.

Back at the fonda, Natalia tells her mom she ran into Diego AGAIN, in the elevator at her new job.  Abdul is convinced that he's following her.  Natalia thinks it's a coincidence, but she also thinks she's not going to be able to get rid of him.  She gets the call from HR at Caprico that she's definitely hired.

In jail, Eleazar shows the woman who got arrested for having drugs in her bag some pictures.  She recognizes a friend of her boyfriend's, but that's it so far.  Eleazar tells his underlings that there's an undercover cop coming in to try and trap this guy.  He also gets a message that a certain Kimberly called him.  Who is she?  I haven't met her and I already don't like her.

The staff at the fonda are busy cooking up a storm for a couple who order two of everything on the menu.  Then they try to skip out on the bill by releasing some lab rats on the floor.  Carlos saves the day--he noticed the woman releasing the rats.  He even picks one up and pets it.  They can't pay the bill, so Carmen puts them to work washing dishes.

Diego keeps thinking about Natalia.  When Diana comes to bed, he resists her advances and says he's just sooooo tired from his long day.

Natalia can't stop thinking about Diego and crying.

Natalia shows up at Caprico and signs her paperwork.  The HR guy tells her to go meet the Veep before she reports to her actual worksite.  Karina announces Natalia's arrival with all the ill-will she can muster this early in the morning…even messing it up and saying Natalia's "from personnel" as opposed to having been sent up by personnel as Natalia said.  Poor Natalia…Diego sent Karina away and locked the office door and he's insisting on "talking" and recollecting the "beautiful" time they had together.   She keeps talking about "what you did" but not elaborating.  The more Diego goes on about the times the two of them actually did spend together, the more confused Natalia gets…and the more horrified since he keeps talking about what a great time they had.  Grumpy Grandpa hears her screaming and demands to be let in.  Not that he's interested in hearing what's going on from Natalia, and come on, Grandpa's been around the block, so of course he thinks he knows what was happening.  Natalia tells Grandpa to tell his grandson to leave her the hell alone.  She bumps into Karina on the way out, so clearly the two of them are going to be enemies for life.  Diego tries to explain to Grumpy Grandpa what happened, but the screams and the locked door aren't helping.   Then Karina shows up with whatever Diego sent her for and she gets screamed at by GG for not knocking.  Like a good little plant, she listens at the door as Grandpa tells Diego he'd better not be cheating on his wife and there had better not be another scene like that in HIS office.  He says nothing to Karina as she pushes past her.

Natalia calls her mom to tell her that Diego is the boss at her company.  Carmen tells her to get to the fonda and between the two of them and Padre Juancho, they'll figure out what to do.

Karina calls Diana to tell her Diego was locked in an office with some girl and she'll keep her informed.  "Nobody cheats on me!" grouses Diana as she continues her workout.

Diego gets Natalia's paperwork from HR and insists they double her salary…no, wait, offer her the secretary's job!  It's about time they had two secretaries, and they'll figure out the budgetary concerns later.

Some chick with a practically painted-on blouse and jeans saunters into the station.  This has to be the undercover cop.  Eleazar calls her Jackie and the guys, like idiots, think she's the boss' girl.  Eleazar takes her in to meet his boss and they explain they've been working on busting a ring of drug dealers who are using unwary women to smuggle drugs.  The boss goes off to deal with another matter and Jackie suggests to Eleazar that they get to work.

Natalia shows up at the fonda and explains to Padre Juancho what's going on.  Having locked the office door doesn't make him look like such a nice guy.  She gets a call from HR and hands the phone off to her mom.  Sr. Gamez tells her mom about the new job and higher salary and she tells him that her daughter won't be working there, so the Veep can take his job and shove it!  Natalia is confused…she can't figure out why Diego isn't at least angry after the beating he took from Andres, but Padre Juancho thinks he might have amnesia.  They all agree this needs to be OVER already, but Natalia's starting to look doubtful.

Eleazar has Jackie review the file and tells her about the progress…or lack thereof…they've made so far.  She saunters on out.  Eleazar's underling is optimistic that the drug dealers won't be able to resist Jackie.  Eleazar gets a call from some hussy and agrees to a date later.

Diego is finally explaining Karina's job to her…preparing reports for both him and his grandpa, etc., etc., and being DISCRETE!  Good luck with that, Karina.  Diego heads off to a meeting while Karina takes a call from Diana, not that she has any new info for her.  Padre Juancho shows up looking for Diego and Karina helpfully shows him to the board room.  Padre Juancho interrupts the meeting to yell at Diego and demand that he leave Natalia alone.

Monday: Diego can't stop thinking about Natalia; Diana is getting suspicious.

Ugh...the misunderstanding continues for another day.

I can't wait to read this!!!

Maybe it's because I always fall for a TN at the beginning, but I'm really liking this one...despite stupid, cheap laughs with overweight people and lab rats.

"You keep on using that word, Diana…I do not think it means what you think it means!" Ah I love a good Princess Bride reference, thanks 5ft Latina!

"Nobody cheats on me." What goes around comes around, Diana.

Natalia's got loving family, a nice kiosk boss, and the good Padre that have her back. Lucky girl, though she deserves it unlike some other ungrateful protagonists that abuse and ignore theirs (*cough cough* Alejandro from LQLVMR *cough cough*).

Noticing all the typos... Didn't get a chance to proofread before running out to see a show! I'll fix 'em later maybe.

I loved this, Kat. My favorite line was "Yeah, and he's rich. Tap that, ma!" (Yeah, I have a high school sense of humor.)

I really hope they will clear up this misunderstanding and ya.

The actress playing Jackie is Cecila Galeano and I hope she won't be around long. I didn't like her in UFCS. They must hire her for her boobs.

Kat, I'm not sure how many recaps you have done this week, but thank you for another amazing summary. How did you do this so quickly? I'm very impressed. And grateful.

"Like a good little plant, she listens at the door", "Grumpy Grandpa" and "Eleazar gets a call from some hussy and agrees to a date later" were all simply great.

The scene with the couple angling for a free meal by releasing the rats would have been just as effective without the tasteless jokes about the diners appearance. Tasteless and unnecessary. Like you Sara, I'm not letting this lapse affect my enjoyment of the show.

Is Carlos too good to be true?

Padre Juancho is a character I'm enjoying every time I see him. I like the actor (who I don't believe I've seen before). He's a loyal friend and supporter to Carmen and her brood and doesn't hesitate nor is he afraid to defend them to the nth degree. And yes Cassandra, I agree about "other ungrateful protagonists" - HA! Great point.

Kat, thanks again for the triple (quadruple?) duty this week. We really appreciate your efforts.

Diana

Thank you, everyone!

Sara: I hope there's not a lot of that kind of stupid humor...or at least, if there is, I plan to ignore it as much as possible. I don't know what that incident did to advance the plot. It showed us that Carlos is observant and likes rodents? Yeah, my sense of humor can be a bit juvenile...but Brigitte was totally thinking it. I can tell :D

Cassandra: There's a timeless quality to Princess Bride references :D

Diana: You're very welcome. I think Carlos is too good to be true. Maybe he'll turn out to be the drug dealer who's seducing all those hapless women? Or he'll just be a genuinely nice guy who snaps when Carmen rejects him in favor of Eleazar. Or, least likely, the genuinely nice guy who she rejects in favor of Eleazar at the last minute and he meets a random guest at their wedding so we don't feel too sorry for him.

I say it's OK to ignore any stupid, non-plot developing humor.

I'm not sure about Carlos either. Was he cuddling the rat because he's a compassionate guy or because the rat is one of his brethren?

Yeah the joking about the heavyweight couple was really lame and kinda offensive. I hope they don't do that again.

Cassandra G.

Gracias 5ft

De que duda me gusta esta novela, me gusta. I'm practicing, hope I put it together right.

I bet Carlos, although guapo, has no dinero & is looking for a place to freeload.

I recently learned that Juanes is a combo of Juan y Esteban, is Juancho a combo of sth?

Francisco is "Pancho" so maybe Juan Francisco is "Juancho"?

De que me gusta esta novela, me gusta... If you like it.

Yes, the stupid unnecessary "comedy" needs to be cut out. There are tons of ways to insert humor into the story without resorting to such juvenile trash. Hope it doesn't become a regular thing.

Kat thanks so much for your recap. I also think we need to move on from this horrible misunderstanding.

The show's humor does continue to be questionable. The soot/blackface or blackbody thing on Monday was very off-putting for me and now the fat jokes. Hopefully as we get more into the story the bad humor will stop.

Cassandra G., Natalia is much easier to root for than poor and often anger Ale.

Karen...I agree. They are trying to be funny....but what they are presenting as humorous...is not funny..it is in bad taste.

Thanks for your support Susanlynn. I know we are both hoping that Marcelo's character becomes less grumpy soon and he is given more screen time.

Did you all get a lot of snow? Thankfully we only got about 4 to 6 inches and by the early morning it was manageable.

Karen...We were lucky enough to be far enough north, and we didn't get any snow....yay. However, it has been cold, damp, and gray all day....still better than snow. I am ready for spring .
