Lo que la vida me robo, #78, 2/28/14: A bunch of idiot men.

Lo siento, it has been a VERRRRRRY busy week for me, plus now I discover my internet connection is indifferent to my needs and continuously conks out. I hope I can get it all sorted out. In the meantime, discuss amongst yourselves!

As I see it is almost time for the next episode (lo siento!!!!) I am going to do screencaps and an overview of the episode. It has been a busy week, and now I'm fighting a cold. I am wallowing in my whining. ;)

EPISODE IN SCREENCAPS, ABBREVIATED. (PUT A FORK IN IT, IT IS DONE!)

Yes, jail IS the solution, you dumbass! Ale goes to whats-his-name, the police chief, wanting to get a break for Maria, for kidnapping (trying to) his own hijo, and conking Tia over the head in the process. Who conked HIM over the head, that he still wants to help Bitch Maria out? No puede ser! The police chief is not all that sold on this idea, but for Ale, he'll try to help.

Meanwhile, Bitch Maria is plotting against Ale. Something fishy is going on, and if it can be traced back to Ale, he'll be in jail for being a crook! She wants JL to help her, and JL, thinking that he can still get Monse back, is listening to Bitch Maria. Don't listen to her, JL, you dumbass!

Bitch Maria would like it if Ale were in legal trouble and lost everything, because she feels she'd get him back for herself. Or at least, Monse wouldn't have him anymore. She's an insane idiot as well. She's hoping that JL can use his position to denounce Ale for some wrong-doing.

Finita is hanging out with Adolfo, and he seems to be sincerely enjoying her company. Her brother breaks up their happy date to counsel Finita in private to not trust either of these guys (Dim or Adolfo) and reminds her that he controls all the purse strings. She's not pleased about this.

Monse clears things up for JL—she doesn't love him anymore. He thought he heard her tell him that (in sincerity) when he was burning up with fever, but in fact it was a pity-love-declaration, and not the real thing. JL is bummed out. He decides to accept the job of godparents for her hijo.

A long scene between the good Padre and JL. To sum it up, JL's coming unglued: Padre tells him to back off and let Monse live her life with Ale, after all, she sincerely loves him and they married in the church, in front of Dios! JL is saying, not so fast, Ale is no angel and he did a lot of bad things. Padre replies, he always meant well! And he's sorry for the things that turned out bad. JL is not so forgiving, as he feels Ale took everything away from him. He ignores the Padre when Padre points out that JL was a gutless wonder who would never speak up for himself and fight for Monse when he had the chance. JL is merely cryptic when he replies that IF Ale is such a good guy, as the Padre believes, then all will continue to go well for him. . .  but IF Ale is not (but is a dirty crook, like Bitch Maria wants to think) then JL will "do his duty." Padre has no clue what this is about.

Slimy snakey Joaquin assures Ale that they'll do "good business" together, as Joaquin is supposedly growing tobacco on Ale's land. Unbeknownst to Ale, Joaquin was just on the phone with that dastardly Medina, and they both vow to pull the wool over Ale's eyes for as long as possible—he can't know what really is being done on his own land, because he wouldn't put up with it! Oblivious Ale asks Joaquin to oversee more of the lands and more projects, as Ale wants to go back to his other house, since this ranch holds bad memories for everyone. Joaquin pretty much is licking his chops, thinking of how much douchebaggery he and Medina can do with Ale out of the way. (Ale wants Viktor to be his go-between at the ranch, however.) Ale mentions that he's asked JL and Angelica to be godparents to Ale's and Monse's kid. Joaquin is not happy about that.

Nadia and Monse sit on the lawn, and recap a lot of things so anyone who has missed a few episodes can catch up. So, Ale asked JL and Angel to be godparents. How come? Nadia thought Ale hated JL. Well, Monse thinks it's a way to demonstrate how much Ale trusts her. Besides, Ale wasn't going to ask Nadia and Pedro (Medina) to be godparents, since Medina is a creepy douchebag and all. The conversation strays to Nadia's and Pedro's dysfunctional relationship. It's worse than ever. Nadia's too ashamed to tell Monse that Pedro wants her to use Viktor as a sperm donor. All she'll say is her husband is nuts.

The aforementioned nutty husband has summoned Viktor to see him. Ezequiel, the police chief, gives him a warm welcome (cough cough) but Crazy Hubby Pedro sends him away. Viktor does not look comfortable, however. Crazy Hubby lays it out bluntly: His wife Nadia is driving him nuts, with all her moaning and unhappiness. Crazy Hubby wants his wife to have a "pet," a "dog," to keep her happy so when Crazy Hubby comes home, she'll be content and placid. Viktor is outraged—so Crazy Hubby is arranging for a lover for his wife? Crazy Hubby laughs in his crazy way and asks Viktor, so, do you want to do it? Do you want to be my wife's pet dog? Eww, creepy Crazy Hubby!

Macario and Padre have a long conversation, which boils down to this: JL better not mess with Ale, or Macario will place a bullet between his eyes! Macario detects some looniness in JL, and believes he's just waiting around for his chance to get Monse back. The Padre is sick of all of this and says that there's still a chance for JL to get himself set straight. And he yells at Macario to stop pissing and moaning about this and do something useful!

A brief scene where Graciela bends over backwards to suck up to Ale, at the family dinner table. He gets to sit at the head of the table, not Dim. Oh sure, Rosario, you sit right down, you're not to serve us! (Rosario jumped up instinctively to help serve the food.) No problem, if Ale wants JL and Angel to be godparents, they know what they're doing and who are we to interfere? Ale looks at Graciela suspiciously. He knows what she's up to. He reminds her that if Dim's DNA test proves that Benjamin is his daddy, then Dim gets part of the estate too. Tia is mortified by all of this.

Fina and her brother have a big fight. He is sick of her being so gullible and naive and letting these two douchebags (Dim and Adolfo) use her. She thinks she's fighting to save her marriage; she hangs out with Adolfo to make Dim jealous and it seems to be working! Bro is not convinced and thinks she's an idiot. He has power of attorney and IF HE HAS TO, he threatens, he can cut her off, cancel the credit cards and she'll have nothing! He'll do it before he allows her to be taken in by these two dipshit guys. She should come to Mexico City with him! She doesn't want to and is shocked that he'd go so far as to cut her off, as she's his only sister!

Adolfo meets with Crazy Brother-in-Law Pedro and Ezequiel. He's going to work for them, as he's interested in making money! He thinks his position as B-I-L will get him extra favors, but Crazy Brother-in-Law Pedro assures him it's not so. Ezequiel will show him the ropes. Ez gives Adolfo a threatening, creepy look and says "Let's go."

Ale tells Monse that they're going to move into town, away from the ranch and all its bad memories. She loves the idea and they smooch, as Rosario looks on approvingly, as she holds the bebe in her arms and says, "See? I told ya that your parents would stay together!"

JL demonstrates to Angel that he's not over Monse and is a bit unhinged. She just wants to move forward, be godparents to Monse's and Ale's kid, and maybe Ale can be friends with JL someday! But Ale reveals his true feelings—he thinks that Ale still hates him, he tried to kill him, after all! Sooner or later, Ale will hurt Monse again, and when Ale does that, JL will be right there to protect Monse!

Viktor and Nadia meet by the pool. Viktor admits that he agreed to Medina's deal (to be Nadia's lover) since it's a safe way to see Nadia. He'll figure out a way for her to be free of Medina! She knows it's not that simple. She's shocked that Viktor went along with Crazy Hubby Medina in the first place. There's something else that Crazy Hubby has in mind, but she won't tell Viktor, she just rushes off to deal with it herself. Viktor looks confused.

Refugio is pressing Ezmerelda for the name of the guy who has been terrorizing her. She won't budge because she knows it'll end bad. But he connects the dots and figures it's Medina. He runs off to beat the snot out of Medina, as Ezmerelda screams after him to stop!

There's a brief scene where JL, dressed in his uniform, is off to talk to Robledo about "something," and leaves Angel's mom to keep an eye on Angel. Then we go to Nadia having a fight with Crazy Hubby, about his wanting Viktor to be a sperm donor. "I'll never let you raise my child as your own! How much I'd love to tell everyone that the great Pedro Medina is really a closeted homosexual!" At this Pedro raises his fist, ready to hit her, as Refugio runs in right then, raises his gun and says, "I won't let you beat another woman!" UH OH!!!!! And that is the end of our episode.

AVANCE: It looks like JL crashes Ale's and Monse's wedding, all dressed up in his uniform. Official business? MUST SEE TV!!!1!

Comments:
Thanks Elvira. Well guys, anybody else thinks JL has played out as a rival for Montse? Is Pedro just too perverse for words? And how stoopid is Fuggie taking Esme back to the scene of two smackdowns? Give me Dimmie and Fina!

:/ Lila

Yep, Refoolio is an eejit. "I will protect you! I won't let anything bad happen!" Ummmmm, you have to go to work, Refu. And even if Esme tagged along, I don't think she would be safer since work is going to take you straight to Pedro. Can he please just shoot Pedro and he and Nadia can both swear it was self-defense? No one would miss him.

Elvira, may your internet connection redeem itself faster than Dim. Loved his facepalm when he heard about the choice of padrinos.

I agree; Refugio needs a few gray cells. Too bad everyone else in this story needs all the ones they have (and others are also deficient).

Esmeralda needs to get out of Aguazul. What she needs for right now is proof, like the CD from MPV.

Alejandro is slipping. He should not trust Joaquin with anything. At this stage he may as well have sold the entire hacienda, moved to town, and who the hell cares what Joaquin and Pedro are up to.

But that would also include dispossessing the peons from the lands.

Tomas is getting scary, too.

Elvira, we are all awating your recap!

Let me add to Lila and Julia's dismay. Refugio's decision to return Esme to the scene of her beatings is simply unfathomable. Why didn't he just drive her straight to Pedro's, personally deivering his lamb to the slaughter. Of course it makes no sense that Esme ever agree to such an insane plan. She, unlike Refugio has a functioning brain.

UA, your "Refugio needs a few gray cells. Too bad everyone else in this story needs all the ones they have (and others are also deficient)" said it all. Amen.

Tomas has always been a raging bully. I see no change. Same obnoxious control freak he has been from day one. Poor Fina.

What has happened to the male characters? There are no galans only men behaving badly. Idiotic decisions along with raging, vengeful bullying and inexplicable bad behavior are rampant. How can we care about these characters when they are so unpalatable? Angie, Monse, Esme, Fina et al deserve so much more.

Diana

Amen, Diana. I couldn't help thinking as Ale sat smiling at Joaquin what a bad judge of character he is: Joaquin and Pedro are taking him on a baaaad trip.

And further on stoopid Fuggie, I'm sure he's not going to kill Pedro, his little macho tantrum is going to get Nadia beaten and Esme probably killed this time and the idiot has made it easy for Pricko to find her!

Lila

Elvira,we are patient folk. Not to worry.

Diana, I'm with you. What in the world has gotten into these men?!

--Refugio getting dumber by the day. He is a hot head who does not think. What's it going to take for him to open his eyes?! Does he need Esme dead before he gets the message?!

--Basura honestly scared me with his body language when he was instructed by Pedro to take Adolfito and "instruct" him (to do what, I ask?!) Carlota is another lamb going to the slaughter. She is so sheltered and Basura is SO incredibly smooth. This one is a Jekyll and Hyde

--Tomas is yet ANOTHER abuser! I feel that Fina is trapped; trapped between three horrible men each with their own SICK agendas.

--Pedro is becoming more vile by the day. This is going to be one long haul with this character and I fear what it is to come. I hate his storyline. It is repulsive and vulgar

--Alejandro, ok DUDE, just hand everything over lock, stock, and barrel to the bad guys. The ONLY thing that MAYBE was good in that convo between Joaquin and Alejandro was that Ale had Joaquin worried when he said he needed to keep his enemies close. I saw a little twitch on Joaquin's face. What a despicable man he is to deny his daughter his love. I hope he pays dearly

--JL, well, don't even get me started. I am hating his voice. I am hating his 5 o'clock shadow and I despise what he is doing to Angelica. The Whore Maria has succeeded in poisoning him even further. She is a serpent on heels.

Rosario, Macario, and Dominga; what would we do without them?!

Fatima

I could not believe that Esme would go back to Aguazul. She never learns, does she? She wasn't going to let Refugio know who beat her but still "let it slip. " She is hopeless.

JL is on crazy train all his own. He didn't need to get on Maria's.

So, Victor wants to be "the pet"? Pathetic.

Nadia baits Pedro knowing he could knock her teeth out. Really?

At this point most of the characters are just plain old sad and sorry!

I did like Montse telling Graciela it was not his obligation to support the whole family i.e Graciela.

Jarifa

I should have typed "Ale's obligation".

Jarifa

Yah, Jarifa, that's out of character for Esme to have agreed to go back after Pedro beat her for the second time and told her to get out of town. Everybody is acting absolutely loco!

What's our body count? Esme is sure to be next and I don't see how Fuggie is going to be able to continue living after having pulled a gun on Pedro. EZ will probably pop out from somewhere, blow Fuggie away leaving Pedro free to kill Esme this time. Sheesh!

Lila

Ooooh, can't wait to hear what happened!

Refugio did what??
Ale is trusting Joaquin with what??
Tomas is still acting what??
Esme is next? What??

Those are all rhetorical questions. Y'all don't need to answer. I'll happily wait for the recap.

No rush Elvira. I think we all know how busy life can get. You are always worth the waitb.

Wait a minute...Ale is trusting Joaquin with what??? It really does sound like everybody is going crazy. It's the monkeys. Hide the bananas.

Diana:

I am so with you my wise Amiga, about Tomas? Que, Que, What????? He is worse than all the rest, I'm talkin' about JL and Ale, for goodness sake, give poor little Fina some breathing room. As it now stands he is a worse jailer/traitor than Dimmy and Addled put together. I'm that pithed! Sorry for the rant.

Jarifa:

That has always been Esme problem. She lets things slip. She can't ever stop herself. But Refugio never would have put two and two together unless she had let it slip. Shame about it!

Lila:

The body count, hmmmmmm..... let's see:

Don Benny by Graceless and Juvie

Gaspar by his own brother Juvie

Antonio Olivares by Juvie's henchies

Did I miss anyone?

Elvira:

Your recaps are always such a pleasure to read and we will wait patiently for it. No worries, take your time Amigi!

I wanted to add this the other day and it slipped my mind. How much of a dumb bunny is Pedro? It was clear what Nadia was intimating the other night and he didn't get it, until this episode when she plainly stated it for him. He is the densest villain I have ever seen. Only one cell phone destroyed for now. I hope there are many more ; )

Luis Gamboa by Dim

Hi guys! I'm new to this! I just wanted to say that you guys do amazing recaps! They are beyond hilarious! Keep them up!

The way Tomas bullies Fina, I am starting to think he is the secret child of Graceless and Ben.

I liked Tomas before, because i could agree Dimwit was a dumbass then and inutil, but now i just hate him..Refugio has dying brain syndrome ever since birth, excuse him.

Pedro disturbs me with his violence and Basura with his crazy ego, please Carlota find someone better than that slacker, too bad Robledo is married( Take a hike Mrs Robledo and never come back!) ,Marcelo Cordoba would be wonderful.

Welcome, Nataly!

Welcome, Nataly. This is the best group, ever. We have so much fun here.

Nanette

Elvira,
Don't worry, we can wait for the recap. I hope you resolve your technical issues with your internet connection. I know it can be a pain in the a**.

ITA with everyone that wonders why the heck did Esme come back to Aguazul. She should have stayed at the hacienda or called Tia Pru for some assistance. That way Tia Pru could also knock some sense into JL.

I am not liking where this story is going. Can we blame the writers. They had to come up with something to fill up the remaining episodes. I didn't watch BDO or AR, so I don't know how those ended. I am guessing that from this point forward the story is totally new, at least compared to the previous two versions.

I hate the fact that JL wants to separate Montse and Ale, not only because I want them to be together, but because of Laurito. JL is only thinking of the possibility of reuniting with Montse and is not taking into account their son. JL wants to separate Ale from Montse, and that would directly affect the relationship between Laurito and Ale.

More to say, but tooooo sleepy.

Off to bed...hasta pronto!

I actually like when the writers innovate,i dont like when writers completely copy paste from other novelas. JL incredibly annoys me sometime, especially in his sweaty self,he claims he loves Angelica but he cannot control himself in regards to Monse. Ale sadly fell for Joaquins trap, this wont be anything good.

Elvira, the body count includes:

Juventino by Efrain Loreto to keep him from talking (shot with a silencer when locked up in the stable by Alejandro, who planned to bring him in to the police the next day.)

Loreto by JL to prevent him killing Alejandro.

One more thing about Tomas: There is no way that the POA over Josefina's inheritance is permanent in the 21st century. It might not be easy to revoke but it is still possible. She is not mentally unbalanced, she has a normal IQ, and there has to be a long history of emotional abuse in her family that is still being played out.

Welcome Nataly!

Demetrios, in the "dim" (sigh) recesses of my mind, I thought Robledo was married but wasn't sure. Thank you for confirming that. I thought there was a definite spark between he and Carlota, but it just must have been friendship. I am seeking someone, a worthy companion for Carlota but the pickings here are far too slim. Frustrated sigh.

Madelaine, can't Tomas just go away? Isn't Dimwit enough of a heartache for her? Very frustrated sigh.

Julia, you may be onto something - Tomas could be Graciela's and Ben's offspring. That would certainly explain his vile nature. Shudder.

Key word today: "frustrated". Ack.

Diana

Fatima, I could really just cut and paste your entire comment - wise words all. And Basuro is indeed frightening - he is more subtle than Pedro but could be as deadly.

Jarifa, thank you for pointing out the one bright spot - Ale telling Gracie she is not his responsibility.

AuntyAnn, we are all rueing Pru's absence. Her intelligence and authority are being missed sorely here! She needs to get JL in line and quickly.

UA, I saw clear resentment from Fina, but will it be enough for her to gather her courage and end Tomas' financial power over her?

Diana

Will our Fina be able to reaweken her hidden fairy powers to transform the evil Tomas back to his Thomas The Train form so he can just chu chu away into hell so Fina can turn into the beautiful princess again and dance with Dimmy the Toad? Tune in next time!

Demetrios: Refugio has dying brain syndrome ever since birth, excuse him. Hee Hee!

Welcome Nataly!

Thanks Madeline, Nataly and UA on the body count. ITA Aunty Ann about JL not giving a hang about Ale and Montse's son. We thought it was noble when he said he'd accept and love Ale's son just as if it were his own but that now just looks like a smoking heap of narcissistic arrogance: he thinks he alone knows what's good for Montse better even than she does herself. Did y'all sees Angie's face when he said he needed to be close to Montse to protect her?

I swear I'd love to firmly plant my feet, rare back and slap the sh** outta him! Madeline, I join thee in thy rant!

Lila

Hi, all.

Sylvia, I wish that I could answer all your questions, but my understanding is very limited by not comprehending most of the dialogue..as you know. also, I may have dozed.

I recently read about a Hawaiian healing mantra which might be helpful for many of our characters here. Most of them need forgiveness for something or many things.
ho'oppnopono is an ancient Hawaiian Hunan, a way to facilitate forgiveness within , the art of forgiveness, to help make things right or correct errors. :
I am sorry.
Please forgive me.
thank you.
I love you.
Have a great day. Later, gators.

P.s. Oh...have a great day and later gators was not part of the mantra..that was just me.

Add to the list of the dead:

Rosario's young novio killed by don Benny

Lt. Avellaneda shot by Refugio during JL's escape

Carlos

Oh, and Graciela's first child.

Carlos

Also might want to add:

Lauro killed by Alejandro and María (who didn't know he was so fragile)

Carlos

Thanks, Carlos, nice catches!

Lila

Ok here's the list that the estupido do Fuggie is campaigning to get Esme, and his own crazy arse, added to:

Don Benny by Graceless and Juvie

Gaspar by his own brother Juvie

Antonio Olivares by Juvie's henchies

Luis Gamboa by Dim

Juventino by Efrain Loreto

Efrain Loreto by JL

Rosario's young novio killed by don Benny

Lt. Avellaneda shot by Refugio

Graciela's first child

Lauro Mendoza killed by Alejandro and María

Lila

*estupido de

And no, I am not among the body count!

;D Lila

We are very glad you are still able to be with us,Lila :)

And i laughed when Macario was "thirsty" and was about to drink some when Padre was like "Que Demonio estas haciendo?! " We need you as sober as possible Macario, dont dissapoint us!

Thanks Demetrios! Yah, that was funny, Macario was looking like a five year old caught with his hand in the candy bowl! Why don't they give us some Macario/Dominga action so we can see how a healthy love story plays out!

Lila

Yeah and i liked when Fina said to Adolfo he should not hide his soft side,i was laughing so hard,it sounded like she was mocking him.

for those of you keeping count of phone abuse, I think Ale holds the record for this novella. He destroyed Victos phone with the evidence of Montse/JL on the playa. he destroyed 2 more phones later that night. And Tia Carlota's phone before locking her and Rosie in that room.

Demetrios: Thomas the Train LOL!

The monkeys are really foreshadowing a reversal of fortune storyline with Maria's mentioning "if Ale lost everything he would be mine again" and JL saying if Ale got busted he would "lose everything". Like Vivi said a couple days ago, can't feel too bad for Ale losing his lands when HE IS LIKE THE WORST HACIENDA OWNER EVERRRRR!!!!

It makes me really uncomfortable how Ales always 100% focused on his personal life and zero focused on his work! And now his capataz is chillaxin in Aguazul?! Where's my beanie!

ITA with everyone who is ticked at Refu and JL.

Happy Sunday. East Coasters get ready for the next "big one". It's a comin!

I think we are supposed to keep tracking how many pipes we see being smoked by Pedro, many! And Ale is also a vase murderer, may they rest in piece shame on him!
Dont even mention the horrible fruit genocide by Juventino and he poisoned that water jar just by drinking from it,why the entire pueblo did not die of food poisoning is beyond me.

Yes Katy,i seen this and it reminded me of Robo lol:
http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=hw522GIskVc
It made me laugh so hard.If only i had the skills to replace faces on the trains..

Dear Diana, thank you so much for the shout out! :))

I, too, am worried about Alejandro's potential reversal of fortune. We have two obsessed people each hoping this will happen and each thinking it will get them what they both want. .NOT!

The Whore Maria has a sickness. I don't have a name for that sickness, but it is clearly a sickness there. I know I keep bringing this up, but the ease with which she voices her desire for various people to die or be killed implies sickness to me. How could anyone possibly defend the kidnapping?! The Whore Maria is dangerous and she is still a danger to Laurito.

Montserrat and Alejandro, for some STUPID reason do not seem to grasp this fact. Honestly, in real life, would anyone have ignored this huge warning sign?! Even the good padre downgraded The Whore Mari's actions to a mere tonteria. I beg to differ, dear Padre.

Then there is JL. Good grief but this man is making me angry. Montserrat has been too calm in telling him that he is out of her life. I don't know what it will take to get JL to wake up, but Montserrat needs to kick it up a notch and give JL "what for". I have no sympathy for this man given his current actions. I hate, hate, hate it when he goes into whiny mode. He tightens his jaw and his voice sounds like a Wendy Whiner.

...and Refugio...oh my, could anyone possibly be so dumb. He is now a marked man. I fear for Esmeralda as well.

More than Pedro, the one who really frightens me is Basura. I fear what he would do do Carlotta if they were to become a couple. Carlotta is an innocent.

Fatima

Basura will probably do the same what Pedro is doing to Nadia, trophy wife. Hasnt Carlota been taught by her wise family of toads to not hang out with garbagemen?

Fatima- I think Alejandro, more than Monse, doesn't grasp how dangerous Maria is. I think Monse would gladly have Maria locked up, and throw away the key.

ITA with you all about the men in this tn. Very few, if any of them, are gentlemen. The only ones who are/were true gentlemen in the way they treat women were Lauro, and Macario. I'm still waiting to see if Mac disappoints us down the road.

Even the Padre has a HUGE double standard, and has let Ale get away with a lot of crap. I was glad to hear him this episode explain to Mac how Ale exacerbated the problems with Monse by locking her up on the hacienda (Mac arrived after that initial drama), and then acknowledge the truth about some of Ale's behavior when JL pointed it out to him. In general, I have found that the Padre too easily glosses over Ale's bad behavior, while trying to lay all the blame on JL. Both men have behaved badly. Ale will get burned for stupidly letting men who he has suspicions about use his lands. And JL will get burned when he realizes that, even with Ale in jail, Monse will never fall in love with him again. He needs to get over it already, and stop whining.

Yes ,JL is very annoying with his whining and i would gladly lock Maria up and throw the key away. And i have to say Count Basuras story is very interesting, from a garbageman to a little jefito de la policia, now will our little garbageman last till the Municipality without being bitten by Pedro aka Scorpion King with a huge pipe?!

Vivi in DC, I absolutely agree with you re the Good Padre's double standard. I really heard it when he was speaking with JL. I think JL had a right to his verbal comebacks with the Padre.

It's a good thing there are not any children in this TN (Laurito is too young to see, but from what I understand, even babies know much more than we give them credit for knowing) because there are very few, if any, good adult role models.

If you think about it, it's a miracle that Dimwit isn't more of a jerk than he already is. Graciela is simply a bad person. Makes you wonder why she wanted to have children with the Admiral, but I assume it was simply "expected".

Fatima

Demetrios, you are hilarious and you make me laugh. A good thing!!

Fatima :))

Just a thought. I have this feeling that EZ is eventually going to make a move on Pedro. Question is, how will Pedro react?

Before I forget, Welcome Nataly!

What kind of move Aunty? Amorous or menacing?

Lila

Welcome, Nataly!

Hope to see you often.

Elna June

Lila,
At first amorous, then eventually menacing. Not that it matters, but I think Nadia was right. EZ is gay, but I am not so sure about Pedro.

Aunty Ann and Lila, I think Basura's potential move on Pedro could be both amorous and menacing.

I saw that scene again where Pedro is telling Adolfito his new name will be "Fofo" (I think I got that right).

a) Just exactly what will Adolfito's initiation be and
b) Is Basura in charge?
c) If so, then if I were Adolfito, I would be scared right about now.

Welcome Nataly. This is a wonderful group. :))

Fatima

Fatima:

Please correct me here native Spanish speakers, but;

I heard Pedro use the words 'Fofo' and 'Fofito'. Fofo indicates flacidity, flabbiness, and would certainly be considered an insult if delivered in the tone that Pedro used with Adolfito. I thought the whole scene was menacing, with Adolfo acting craven toward Pedro and Pedro treating Adolfo with complete contempt.

Ay, Caray!

EJ

Elna June, thanks for that info!

I gotta say that it didn't sound like Pedro was using any terms of endearment when he was speaking to Adolfito. :))

If I think about it, I'm never sure if Fina is using "Adolfito" as a term of endearment, either. I love that Fina. :))

Fatima

I just read in the newspaper thatUnivision has ordered a 60 episode miniseries based on recently captured drug lord Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman's life..."El Varon de la Droga.,

Thanks Aunty Ann, Fatima and thanks a lot EJ. So "Fofito" connotes all of that!? You all are right, EZ's demeanor as he pointed the gun at Victor and then as he looked at and then led Aldofito away was scary and yucky! . . .uuuuuuu....this is both sinister and kinky!

Lila

Well, I'm just not seeing what the rest of you are seeing in Pedro and Basurto (sexually, that is). They are just two evil dudes who have been driven mad by ambition.

De acuerdo on the male characters in this novela. Alejandro has the form and face of a Greek statue and JL is not far behind him. Both, unfortunately lack the brain cells necessary to see reality in the world around them.

Dimitrio is showing a few signs of hope starting with standing up to the evil as a snake Graciela.

Alejandro better wake up and smell the coffee (or soon likely to be reefer) and find out what that cabrón Joaquin is up to.

We already have enough panga boats floating up by us here in Ventura County.

Yikes! Talk about an episode that needs Nerfazos thrown at it!! Loved the recap yesterday, by the way.
Are Nerfazo's Nerf balls? When I was a child, the kids who had nerf balls were the kids whose mom would only let them paint on those boards you only needed water to paint with.

ITA with Pasofino, Basurto isn't gay, he's ambitious. He fawns all over Pedro because he is looking to take Pedro's place when Pedro moves up.

Nadia needs to stop focussing on Pedro and Basurto, and tell Victor what Pedro's real plan is: Let her see him until she gets pregnant, and then he plans to kill him. I think Nadia must realize this.

It seems puzzling that Esme hasn't realized what a goofball Refugio is. Love is blind?

Pasofino:

I want to agree with you. I think the writers have really outsmarted themselves with this semi-plot; I completely agree with you. All we need to know about these two characters (Pedro and EZ) is that they are utterly without scruples and each would do anything to get ahead.

The fatuous 'Is he or isn't he?' storyline will soon be resolved, I hope. Who really cares? These characters are ruthless criminals; their insinuated sexual preferences has nothing to do with that.

EJ

Emarie:

I am very glad you enjoyed the Thursday recap. Yes, nerfazos are made of nerf material. You may want to order the Launchonerfazo (sp) that was invented back in the bad old days of "El Talisman'. Novela Maven suggested that I obtain one immediately to keep from further injuring my 'nerfazo elbow'.

Big smile and laugh.

We are in the nerfazo stage of the telenovela, the extension blues.

Did I hear correctly someone on the show mentioning that Ale's hacienda grows tobacco? Maybe among other things? Perhaps it is better for public health and air quality that no one is picking it. It might explain why we aren't getting beat over the head with characters extolling the virtues of the local crop, like we often do in shows in agricultural settings.

Pedro is taking EZ for a lackey, but EZ is shrewd. My guess is EZ will use the Pedro is gay (or whatever) card only when needed. EZ doesn't seem to be violent, even though Esme had to yell to put him in his place. I don't want him marrying Carlota, but he might treat her well if it comes to that.

It's hard to watch JL's treatment of Angie. The girl is coughing up blood and he's all into how he was "robbed" of Montse. She's being "robbed" of her very life, idiot. I wish Angie would whack him8383 with a frying pan.

Julia:

Yes, indeedy they did mention the growing of tobacco. Just a guess but I wonder if maybe they are growing some mary jane in there somewhere, amidst that tobacco. Joaquin looked mighty sly there, so I wonder???????

Regarding the tobacco. The way I understand it, Ale is under the impression that they (him & Joaquin) just started growing tabacco on that land that Pedro wants. And they kept Pedro out if it because Ale doesn't trust Pedro. The truth is that they (Joaquin & Pedro) are using that land for some kind of illegal activity.

I'm not sure what is grown on the rest of the hacienda lands, but I don't think it's tobacco.

The main cash crops of novela hacendados is rarely important as information. But tobacco plants are very tall and can make for easy concealment of drug smuggling, which I believe is what Pedro is up to.

Remember also that he originally was looking to recruit JL into his operation when he was on the run.

Ale doesn't trust Joaquin either. When Joaquin first started coming around once he realize Ale was Ben's heir, Ale commented that if Joaquin was Ben's friend, then he isn't someone he can trust. It's silly that he's now blindly trusting Joaquin. He should at least want to take a look to see what's happening on his property.

I agree, Vivi, but he made a deal with Joaquin in a moment of desperation. He had to get out of the jail and thought there was no other way to do it.

He does need to know what is happening on his property and -- ironically -- JL would be in a position to help. Whether he would nor not is questionable at this stage because of his delusions about Monserrat.

I dont think Alejandro deserves JLs help since he tried to kill the guy a couple of episodes ago ,thats my logic, the logic of the writers is quite diffrent sadly, they want JL and Ale to work together against all cliches .

JL would be duty-bound to do something about the activity, but I doubt he would intentionally frame Alejandro for anything.

Yeah , he has some "values" but i hope he doesnt give up to his sweaty self then these so called values wont mean anything. And i find it retarded that people still fear for what the people are gonna say,it irked me in Fuerza Del Destino,i know its important but after Gracies betrayal was found out Ale and Monse should not have picked her idea about the godship,it would make Angie a bit sad but its definetly better to pick Macario /Dominga as godparents then a person who Ale almost killed, porfavor

I think people are being too hard on JL. To me, he has been the only one true to his feeling from the start. Montse loved him and then falls in love with a guy that treats her bad from the beg. Ale says he loves Montse but then physically assaults her, holds her as a prisoner in the house and then kicks her out. Nadie loved Pedro and now finds out what a fiend he is. Pedro played at caring for Nadie. JL loved and still loves Montse. I like Angelica and wish JL could fall in love with her but Angelica knew he didn't love her. He has been honest about his feelings. I like the fact that circumstances haven't changed his heart. And he is the one that has had the most damage done to his relationship. No wonder he is having trouble letting go when Montse would still be his if her family hadn't put him in jail. Seems everyone else is very pliant. Even Dim has come to care for Josefina.

Carvivlie, your points regarding JL are well taken. I was among his biggest supporters (still am) but the truth is that things have changed and Monse no longer loves him. Yes, they would still be together had it not been for all of the interference but unfortunately, she does love her husband. I'm still hoping he will come to love Angie, if he can only put aside "what might have been". Certainly not an easy thing to do - again, he is one of my favorites.

Diana

Yeah, but JL has a gorgeous wife at his side,he needs to appreciate what he has and not what he no longer has until it is too late for Angie, after he needs to find someone third so she can keep him from his Monse obsession.

Carvivlie and Diana, JL is actually one of my favorites too, but his love for Montse is blinding him to the unnecessary hurt he's causing Angie. Agree he was always clear that he was in love with Montse and that that wouldn't change, but he's ramming that fact in Angie's face now with his obsession. And, yes, Angie is pushy and does bring up Montse herself. But still, JL promised to make the rest of Angie's life happy. He should be taking her to the beach, sailing, dancing, etc. Instead he's wasting Angie's time focusing on trying to "protect" Montse.

You're right Niecie. Maybe if JL focused more on Angie, he would help himself move on. Doesn't help that Angie is so agreeable to keeping Montse around. I have a feeling that now that Ale has turned a new leaf, the writers are going to make JL the crazy one now. I mean someone has to be! LOL

Angie wants Montse to promise to take care of JL after she's gone. Even if Montse promises, which would be stupid, she should not. Number one JL is a grown man, he doesn't need a mommy or godmother or old lover to look after him. Number two she will be making a vow to be with and stand by her husband til death parts them: she has not made a vow to stand by JL til death parts them. Whether that union ends up happy or not is one of his danged business. Previews are deceptive but it looks as if JL is going to interrupt the ceremony. I hope they won't do something so stupid as to have Montse unable to renew her vows because of some sense of obligation to this obsessive pain in the rear. Newsflash JL: Millions of people have not stayed with their first love and they live and they prosper.

Lila

JL doesn't need anyone to take care of him, but if he did, he has his bestie Refu, and Esmeralda also. It's rather obnoxious for Ange to expect Montse to keep hanging around him...that is just trouble for everyone. Is she trying to get JL killed? Because if he keeps trying to cling to Montse, that's the most likely outcome. Well, not really because it would be a breach of form for the galán to actually kill someone, but that doesn't mean Ale won't try again, and Ange doesn't know that Ale is supposed to somehow come out of this thing smelling like roses.

Where did those lawyers go? We need someone to talk some sense into these numbskulls!

I commented at Caray Caray some time in the past that we see police helicopters in our rural area from time to time because people go into the corn fields and pull out the corns talks and plant marijuana plants. One of the farmers who rents some if our land said that it happened in a field that he rents from someone else. The police came into the field while he was there and questioned him. They pull out the cornstalks to take advantage of the fertilizers that the farmers put on for the corn. Wow...life in the country has changed a lot . Maybe Pedro and Joaquin are growing marijuana.

I'm dying to know what Tomas said to Fina. I just caught a little bit of that scene at the table and his body language and tone of voice on top of his LAUGHING at her, when she was so upet had me wondering why she didn't throw the glass of juice in his face.

Nanette

*upset*

or the pitcher over his head, now that I think of it.

Nanette,
Tomas tells Fina that he talked with Dimi, and the way Tomas seez it, Fina & Dimi's seperation is a sure thing. Fina tells him that she's not so sure, because even though he might find it hard to believe, Dimi does feel something for her. Tomas tells her not to make a mistake and confuse things. That Dimi did end up feeling something for her; PITY! He continues saying that it's incredible that Dimi is sorry for everything he did to Fina, and knows that Fina deserves better than him. And Tomas says that thanks to Dimi feeling sorry, he is willing to give Fina her freedom without asking for any money in return. Fina says she doesn't believe Tomas and asks what he threatened Dimi with. Timas tells her not to be dumb, that Dimi called him to tell him all of this. And that this is an opportunity that he or Fina can't let pass. Fina says she wants to and is going ti fight for her marriage. Tomas says, well going out with Adolfito is not the way to do that. Fina says that is her strategy, to make Dimi jealous, and not to laugh because Dimi fought for her. That Dimi even hit Adolfito when he found them together in a restaurant. And fina says that that means Dimi cares for her and is important to him. Tomas tells her that Dimi is jealous that another man is haggling money out of her. And that Fina is the perfect target for a money hungry guy; a few words of love, and you, Fina, will sign him a check. Fina yells for him to shut up, and Tomas tells her to not start with her crying. That he is tired if her stupidities and her childness. He is tired if her being so innocent (naive). He lowers his voice and says please, understand the best thing is for you to come with me to Mexico City. Far away from Aguazul you will be able to forget about those idiots (Dimi & Adolfito). Fina says she does not want to go with him. Tomas says, I'm not asking you, I am lettting you know what you are going to do. Fina stands up and tells him he can't run her life. He reminds her of the papers she signed, giving him control of her money, and says that if he wants he can take away the house, cancel her credit cards, close her bank accounts and to not make him go to those extremes. Fina says she's going to have her lawyer revoke the papers she signed that gave him control. Tomas tells her that she cannot revoke anything. That what she signed is basically irreversible. Fina asks Tomas if he would actually leave his only sister in the streets. Tomas says that if that's what she needs to stop humiliating herself, to stop paying for companionship and bits if love, if course he would do it. Fina walks away.

Thanks "Aunty Ann". A lot of that particular conversation went over my head.

I did notice in this statement:

"Fina stands up and tells him he can't run her life"

that Fina used the verb manejar.

So we aren't getting our recap from Friday's episode? I don't want to complain, because there are so many wonderful recappers on this site, but every weekend I check to see if the recap is there time and time again. Very frustrating! We all have problems!

Thanks AuntyAnn. That was driving me crazy.

What's wrong with this TN? All the "good guys" are no so good.

Isabelle: Don't worry. If Elvira won't be able to put the recap up at all, she'll let us know and then our Spanish understanding commenters, and other recappers, will start filling us in.

Nanette

That should be *not*. I really should start proofing better. You'd think I could manage to catch those errors on such a little comment.

IsabelladeMayo:

Hello there Isabella! Welcome to Caray, Caray. I am the other weekend recapper.

I do apologize if our recaps on the weekends aren't up real quick. Personally, I like to take my time writing them to get every nuance and to make sure my translation is correct. We all strive to do the very best we can to get them up in a timely manner.

Thank you so much for your concern and it is duly noted.

Thanks for the screen caps Elvira, Nice Work!

Thank Elvira for the screen caps.

I'll be posting the LPHP list tomorrow so I have a chance to read the rest of Elvira's recap and comments the group makes from this point on. You know you guys are a big help to me in compiling the lists.

Nanette,
Looking forward to the list!

Thanks AuntyAnn. I'm at the point where I'm watching eps after reading the recap and comments so I can fast forward through the stuff I'm not interested in. This TN is just too frustrating for me right now. Still liking Dim and Fina, though. I'm also enjoying Dim's continued dissing of Gracie.

Thanks, Elvira, for your screen caps and commentary.
Take care.

Jarifa

Nanette,
I am hooked on this TN. Even with the monkey writers showing up here and there. I am still watching epi's and reading all the recaps and comments. I do admit that it looks as though we will be getting some silly epi's to fill all those extra episodes. Oh well! If you have any questions about translating a scene, just let me know and I will try my best.

Thank you Elvira for those HD screencaps and summary. Wow!

I'd just like to thank all the recappers for this and all the novelas whether I watch them or not. Life is a blur for us all and having guest recapped a few episodes I know it is a labor of love, yes, but a BIG job! You all put so much effort into it, staying up until the wee hours and manage yet to be detailed, humorous, witty and instructive in grammar, culture and a zillion other bits of interesting information. You all have your own style yet manage to create a warm community of people who gather together to laugh or gripe about these stories from ALL OVER THE WORLD! I am impressed and appreciative of ALL of you. And I appreciate every commenter and every lurker.

We'll be all right Elvira! Take Care,

Khalilah :D

AuntyAnn: I probably would do my usual watching every second of the ep (I do read the recap and all the comments, too), if I wasn't also trying out En Otra Piel on Telemundo. I can't commit the time for both so I'm going to either choose one to watch completely or scan both if I can't make up my mind which I want to let go.

What Khalilah said: Ditto.

AA: Thanks for the offer. I'm sure I'll take you up on it.

Thanks Elvira...I always love your screencaps and snarky prose. Worth the wait, m'dear. And happy to know your internet connection is working again.

Your picture of Adolfito and Josefina reminded me of how amazingly tight the wardrobe folks engineer these guys' shirts!

Love every second of every scene with Josefina and her two dubious swains, and I have no doubt she's going to be able to handle bully big brother Tomas just as adroitly as she's sifting and sorting out Dimetrio and Adolfito. She's clearly the brightest bulb in this story and is delightful to watch, now that our two main galans have turned so stupid.

And oh yes, your title is absolutely perfect. Tell it like it is, lady!

Elvira, I get it. You don't think much of Maria, but do you have to resort to the tedious name calling which, in my
opinion, sounds more like something you would expect
from a middle schooler rather than someone of your
obvious intelligence? Sadly, I guess talking like a lady went out with feminism for some people. The fact that I continue to read your recaps is a testament to just how
much I like the program.

Elvira! Please accept the virtual glass of wine I am sending over to you to go with your (completely justified) whine! (Or substitute your quaff of choice.) CHEERS!

I so enjoy your picture book style storytelling. You really know how to bring out the humor and capture all the nuance and drama in a few deft strokes. Perfectly apt title, too.

Feel better soon!

Elvira,

Thanks for the recap. It was great. I appreciate your snarky style.

I just had a thought, unless someone already thought of it. But what if BM and JL hooked up? Nevermind. JL might not be my favorite person, but I wouldn't wish BM on anyone. She needs to end up ALONE!

I am worried for our couple after seeing the avances. But I won't get too worked up because I know that the avances tend to be deceiving.

We're about 30 minutes away! Happy watching!

Back to work...hasta pronto!

Elvira,
Get better soon. I know how you feel. I just got over a sore throat virus thingy. Get some rest!

Great recap Madelaine. Thanks much and hope you feel better soon.

Thanks Elvira. The recap was thorough and beautifully illustrated with the crystal clear recaps. I've pretty much said my piece about the koo koo goings on in this episode. Take care!

Lila

Elvira, thank you for doing this despite your not feeling well.

The screen shots were amazing and your recap was great. If we had any doubts about Tomas "He has power of attorney and IF HE HAS TO, he threatens, he can cut her off, cancel the credit cards and she'll have nothing!" proves he is a bullying idiot (loved your title).

Diana

Hi Elvira,

A belated thanks for the great screen shots with the funny recap, too!

I hope you are feeling better!

Elvira...Thank you so much for the recap and photos despite not feeling well. I appreciate your time and effort.

Elvira:

Thanks so very much for this most splendid recap and I too hope you are feeling better soon. Put your feet up, have some tea and get better!

IsabelladeMayo:

This most splendid recap is not mine but Elvira's.

Elvira - Fantastic recap and screenshots. You are a doll to do this despite internet problems. Wow, Angie and JL look smoking hot in the pic with her in the red/gray diagonal striped dress and he in uniform. Too bad he can't let go of the past.

Elvira, a very belated thank you for your terrific recap (so funny!!) and wonderful screen shots. I love how you went off on our stupid characters. I will re-read the recap when I have a better internet connection, but I just wanted to give you big kudos. Your recap was absolutely worth the wait.

Aunty Ann, thanks so much for explaining what happened between Fina and Tomas.
