Lo Quel la Vida Me Robo, Capitulo 89. 03/17/14

Pedro tells Samuel to get with the program or he’ll regret it.

A guard gives Joaquin a knife curiosity of Pedro for protection.  Up walks Samuel gripping about the trap Joaquin put him in.  Some other prisoners grab him and starting hitting him and holding him back.  Samuel threatens to kill Joaquin but Joaquin disagrees and says that ain’t happening and shanks Samuel.
Ale is lead in to register for this stay at the prison.  When asked what he’s in for, he’s forced to say drug trafficking by EZ.  EZ then leads Ale to another room to take off his jewelry but we don’t get to see him take off his shirt.  He’s then in his prison garb and stops to pose for pictures.  EZ then leads him to his cell.

Amelia tries to force Virginia out of bed to bathe and perhaps grab a bite to eat out.  Virginia wants to visit her dad, but Amelia forbids it.  It’s not a place for a lady like her to visit.  She reminds Virginia that her dad lied to them all and made his fortune drug trafficking.  He also turned his back on his dying daughter and for that she will never forgive him.  Virginia doesn’t care and throws Amelia out of her room.
Esme and Angel are picking out what Angel will wear for the magical evening.  Angel doesn’t want JL to know she’s owner of the swanky club aka “El Escondido”.  An urgent knock on the door and its Montse looking for JL.  Because of him, her baby daddy is in jail.  Angel defends JL and says he’s only trying to help Ale but Montse ain’t buying it. She’s convinced JL, Pedro and Joaquin are in cahoots to bring down the mighty Ale.  She decides to go see Pedro and Angel accompanies her.

Graceless pays her dear bosom buddy a visit.  She understands that she and Natasha, Benny’s sister, where friends.  She probably also knew that Natasha couldn’t have children.  Amelia doesn’t understand why Graceless is dredging all this up.  Because Natasha’s daughter just showed up in town replies Graceless.  Do you know her?  Of course replies Amelia.  I attended her baptism.  Graceless wonders why Benny never brought her to live with him and Amelia suggests that perhaps she wasn’t important to him.  She grew up alone in a boarding school.  So sad.  Graceless thinks the reason was that she wasn’t blood to Benny.  Amelia agrees.  Amelia wonders where Fab’s is staying at.  She hasn’t seen her in ages.  Graceless says at Ale and Montse’s.  I’m very interested in meeting her.  Did you know that Benny gave her a monthly allowance until he died?  Not at all lies Amelia.  Graceless thinks this is all an interesting story and is eager to find out more.
Rosario is taking care of baby Lauro and Fab hopes everything will turn out okay.  Doorbell rings and its former playmate now turned cray cray Maria barging in to pick up her crap.  She sees Rosario crying and asks her what’s up.  Dominga says Ale was arrested today.  Maria tells Rosario just how much she sympathies.  Fabs and Maria pretend not to have met before and introduce themselves.  Maria tells Rosario if there is anything at all she can do to let her know.  (I suggest a cootie shot, since she got it on with Adolfo).  Anyway Maria tries to poison Rosario’s mind and Rosario gets her hackles up.  Maria says she saw Montse at JL’s.  Rosario tells her to zip it and get out but Maria keeps spewing her venom.  Montse only married Ale for his money.

EZ tells Pedro that Ale is in jail but he won’t stay long if Samuel sings like a canary.  Pedro assures him that the problem has been solved.  EZ says Samuel has been transferred to a hospital.  Pedro doesn’t want anyone to know Samuel’s whereabouts.  EZ leaves and Pedro’s secretary informs him that JL is there to see him.  Pedro gives permission for him to enter and wants no interruptions.  JL comes in with guns blazing.  He just found out that Ale is in jail.  There is not enough evidence to arrest him.  Pedro says he has nothing to do with it.  He was also surprised.
Montse and Angel march up to see Pedro.  His secretary says he’s busy with JL.  Angel says since JL is my husband, I don’t think he’ll mind the interruption and the ladies march into Pedro’s office.  Immediately Montse she wants to know why Ale is in jail.  This is an injustice!  JL wants Angel to wait outside but she wants answers.  JL doesn’t understand what the beef is about.  They know the charges against Ale.  Pedro says they found drugs on Ale’s property and Joaquin made statements against him.  Angel says her daddy is lying.  Pedro says that Samuel also collaborated Joaquin’s story.  Montse says JL is behind everything.  She saw Samuel’s picture on his computer and had him come to the house and set Ale up.  Angel wants JL to tell the truth.  Montse says JL will pay for everything he has done.  She turns to Pedro after JL and Angel take their leave.  She asks why they are doing this to her husband.  What have you to gain from all this? Pedro pretends to be offended at her accusations.  I’m convinced Ale is guilty.  If he told you different, he’s lying.

Fabs tells Sandro that Ale is in jail but Montse and company are trying to get him out.  Sandro says Fabs was a witness to the burning of the drug money and can testify to this.  Fabs doesn’t know about that.  She found out from Padre Anselmo the chismoso that Benny changed his will at the last minute.  She also found out about Montse’s affair with JL.  He wants more info on Rosario and Ale and to see a copy of the wills.  Fabs says Ale was going to show her but he’s busy at the moment.  Sandro wants her to snoop around his office and drops the bomb that he thinks she made be adopted and that’s why Benny didn’t leave her any dough.
Rosario tells Graceless that her baby is in the slammer.  Montse walks in and Graceless doesn’t hesitant to point her finger at JL.  Montse agrees and thinks Pedro’s helping out too.  She doesn’t know what else to do.  Graceless suggests visiting Cpt. Robles.  Montse tried but he’s out of town for a few days.  Fabs comes in and tries to comfort Montse.  Montse introduces Graceless to Fabs.  They have a staring contest.

Joaquin plays host and offers Ale a seat at his elegant table.  Ale answers with a one two punch to the face.  It’s your fault that I am separated from my wife and child yells Ale.  Other prisoners separate the two and give Ale a lesson in manners.  Joaquin tries to break up the fight.  Guards disperse the crowd.
Graceless says she’s been dying to meet Fabs.  She has heard a lot about her.  Fabs says Sandro told her that she and her mother were friends.  That was many moons ago replies Graceless.  I just came from Amelia’s house and she really wants to see you.  She is your godmother, correct?  Yes, but I don’t understand why she said that.  I informed her I was coming to Aguazul.  Sandro has to go but offers to help in Ale’s case.  Thanks but no thanks replies Montse.  Graceless also decides to take her leave.  Outside, Sandro invites Graceless out for a bite to eat.  At first she refuses, but then finally accepts.  He wants to pick her up at 8:30 but she says 9:30 is better.  (I looked at this whole exchange and thought to myself.  Sandro wants to take charge as a man would do and Graceless just whizzed on it all to show she will be the alpha dog).

JL tells Angel to trust him.  He knows what he’s doing.   Angel believes JL is seeking revenge for Ale taking Montse away from him.  JL asks her what she’s smoking.  Where are you coming up with all this?  You told me you wanted to help him but you lied to me.  JL denies he’s lying.  The Marina has proof that Samuel and her dad were partners.  Angel can’t believe her dad was in a partnership with that guy.  She wants to know why Samuel went to Ale’s house.  Because your dad planned this whole thing from prison.  A trap set up my him, not me.  I know they are pressuring your dad.  We believe its Pedro.  Why didn’t you tell Montse all this asks Angel?  JL wants Montse to stay far away from him.  I need her to hate me he yells.  Angel goes on a jealous fit and says she always knew JL loved Montse but believed she could be the owner of his heart.  JL says she is.  My heart is yours so please let’s change the subject.  Angel asks if he really loves her.  Of course replies JL.  If I didn’t then you think I would have married you?  You’re my companion, my wife, my friend.  You’re the best thing that has ever happened to me.  They kiss.  He wants to make her the happiest woman in the world.
Ale sits in solitary thinking of Montse and swearing no one will separate them.

JL wants to see Ale but the guard says Ale’s in solitary confinement for fighting.  JL then wants to speak to Samuel but finds out that he’s in hospital.  JL wants to know where but is informed that the information is confidential.  JL reminds him he’s with the Marina and they can’t hide information from him. The guard says take it up with the higher ups.
Vic says the attorney is taking care of trying to get Ale out of jail but could take a couple of days.  Rosario cries.  Montse doesn’t understand.  Ale is innocent.  Macario thinks when JL caught them burning the drug money he rushed to press charges.  Vic is in agreement.  Montse says she saw Pedro and he said Samuel also made a statement against Ale.  Macario says they went to see Ale but they wouldn’t let him.  What? Why asks Montse.  Vic gives Macario the stink eye for spilling the frijoles.  Rosario wants to know if her baby got hurt.  Vic says Ale got into a fight and he’s in solitary confinement. Rosario doesn’t want Ale to suffer the same fate as she.

JL goes to visit Refugio and gives him the latest scoop. Samuel also gave a statement against Ale.  Now Ale can spend the rest of his life behind bars.  Refugio wants to know how Pedro was able to convince Samuel to declare against Ale.  JL says Samuel was shanked and transferred to a hospital.  JL needs to figure out a way for Joaquin and Samuel to tell the truth.  Refugio asks if he would take Angel to see her dad.  Perhaps he’ll then spill the frijoles.  JL thought about it but decided it wouldn’t be good for Angel.   Refugio wants to change the subject and says they have to go.  The ladies are waiting for them at “El Escondido”.
Josefina tells Carlotta she’s worried about Dim.  He arrived late last night and was up early this morning.  Graceless arrives to bring sunshine to those she encounters.  Josefina comments on how beautiful Graceless looks.  Graceless says she would one day like to return that comment to Josefina.  Carlotta demands to know where Graceless is going.  I was invited out to ear says Graceless.  I can, can’t I?

Josefina asks if it’s Sandro she’s going out with.  And once confirmed says he’s a rich millionaire from Miami but also a womanizer.  Carlotta thinks it’s too soon for her to be going out, but Graceless doesn’t care.  She only accepted to find out more about Fabs.  She wonders where her baby is.  Josefina says he went out early but doesn’t know where he is.  Graceless says probably out having a good time with his friends and beautiful woman.  If he’s not home it’s because he doesn’t want to be with you.  Carlotta says if she has nothing nice to say then don’t say anything at all.  Graceless says to zip it.  Dim walks in, in uniform and mom thinks he’s coming from a costume party.  Dim drops the bomb that he joined the Marina.
Nadia shows Vic their new house of love that her generous husband rented for them.  Vic says he wants to pay the rent.  They talk about Ale and how one day she will be rid of Pedro for good.  They start kissing and pervy Pedro starts dabbling in voyeurism and sits back watching the love show.

Manana: Angel takes a turn for the worst; Ale and Pedro talk.

Must admit I found last night's epi a bit insufferable. Felt like I was watching a show called "The Weeping Women".

Joaquin asking Ale to sit at his table makes me think his guilt is running over. But what did he think would happen? I do wonder if this might be the start to him confessing all to Ale.

Things not looking good for Angelica in the advances. Of course it would come right after JL professing his heart to her.

And how pervy is Pedro! So gross watching Nadia and Victor.

Be careful guys because Big Pedro ( Perv alert) is watching you! Lesson learned, never star SS as the Big Brother!

This is a new Big Brother, pipes galore and a complete lack of balls, who are the unfortunate participants?

Gloria:

Thanks so much for this great, marvelous, detailed recap, I loved your asides : )

I missed this capitulo last night! I would have loved to see that heart felt scene with JL and Angie.

So Pedro is now in full control, blech! It's bad enough he is looking in windows and being in the room during "the deed", but the down fall of every good guy, double blech!

Poor confuzzled Monse. If Ale stays in the jail, the bad guys will run all over her. She won't have a centavo left!

I am so glad that Dimmy is staying the course and continues with the Navy. I think he will really prove himself. All that communing with Papa Lauro at his grave site really enlightened Dimmy.

Can't wait to see what happens tonight!

Hey Gloria,

Thanks for a great recap! I was really excited to read what you'd have to say. I enjoyed it all, and this line was my favorite:

"(I looked at this whole exchange and thought to myself. Sandro wants to take charge as a man would do and Graceless just whizzed on it all to show she will be the alpha dog)."

So funny and such a perfect way to describe Gracie.

Gracie did look good, but to my mind, not all that different from the way she usually does except with straight hair a la Montse's usual style. (Maybe Gracie is unconsciously--or even consciously--mimicking her younger daughter?) I mean this is a woman whose most casual day-look is 3-inch heels.

But her evening look for her dinner with Sandro was MUCH BETTER than the mullet dress she had on when she went to visit Montse, though I admit I am VERY happy to see someone in this TN sporting mullet fashion. Maybe there was an earlier trend-setting moment with this, but I don't remember.

Thanks again, Gloria! It was a wonderful recap.

Gloria thanks for your very fine detailed recap! I don't think you missed a thing.

I have very few commens:

What is with Fabiola and the ugly hat and wearing it inside? (you can tell I cannot stand that character. :) )

I loved Dimitrio returning home and informing Josefina and Graciela where he had been all day.

"Pedro the Peeper": I guess nothing should shock us about Pedro anymore.

Jarifa

Gloria...Thanks for this detailed recap. This show is getting so frustrating to watch with the bad guys always winning. I only surfed into it now and then while I was watching both the voice (great this season !!!) and Dancing with the Stars, so I really appreciated your recap.

Sandro has to lose the red blazer. I’m afraid some tourists are going to come up to him and ask if he can upgrade them from a compact to a mid-size.

Pedro is overcompensating even with his computer monitor. I’ve never seen a bigger one!

Did anyone notice that Amelia got up at least a full second before her timbre de puerta sounded when Grouchy Graciela came-a-callin’?

Well done, Gloria...always appreciate your straightforward, tell-it-like-it-is recaps. Favorite line:

[Maria](I suggest a cootie shot, since she got it on with Adolfo).

But your description of Graciela taking over with Sandro was also great.

Loved the staring contest between Fabiola and Graciela. Was that supposed to be "la llamada de la sangre" or just two skanks trying to suss out each other? Couldn't decide.

Another depressing episode, as far as I was concerned, other than the all too brief appearance of Dimetrio in his navy togs. Oh well, at least the writers threw us that bone.

Favorite line as far as the script went was when Refugio called Pedro a "poco hombre". Never was an epithet more deserved! Voyeur bit was creepy. Not comfortable with the porn aspect of this.

Guess we'll have to wallow in evil and setbacks for a few more months since they've extended this baby. Fasten your seatbelts and order a drink!

Thanks Ms. Gloria. Always appreciated. Know you're busy with family and work and LIFE! So gracias for taking the time to keep us up to date on these malos hombres y pocos hombres.

Wonderful recap my dear! Heck, I enjoyed it more than the episode. Much more!

( "Graceless arrives to bring sunshine to those she encounters. "---Oh my stars. Lunch was splayed on my office desk, but this was worth it. Hysterical.)

Frankly, I watched all night to wait for Dim to come home from work. 50 minutes in finally happens, and we get what, 15 seconds. Loved the look on his face though. There better be a whole lot more to that scene than what we got last night.

As for the rest--predictable and whatever. Bad guys win, good guys get beaten up, blah blah blah.

As for the ending, my reaction to those last few minutes basically went:
" Ewwww, ewwww, really...oh c'mon, ewwww...stop already....hello, enough we get it...oh for the love of..."

I think the writers need to add an apology to all the dear men out there who still enjoy a nice pipe. I have fond memories of my dad puffing away once in awhile when I was very young...liked the aroma. Shouldn't condone the use of the tobacco, but it did have a bit of a sophisticated and intellectual air about it. having Mr. Peepers do it....wrong, wrong, wrong.

Daisynjay

Dear Gloria:

Thank you for this really great recap. It is so clean, a perfect antidote to the telenovela confusion we are experiencing in the Great Extension.

Oxnard: You are cracking me up. I bet you keep your family in stitches with your wry comments. "Sandro has to lose the red blazer. I’m afraid some tourists are going to come up to him and ask if he can upgrade them from a compact to a mid-size."

JudyB: I was so sorry to read of your friend's diagnosis. I have two friends in my meditation groups who have metastatic cancers. I started the group for people with chronic pain some four years ago. We have already lost one member and now we have these two others in peril. Impermanence.

EJ

Thanks Gloria. I'm going to go back and watch (not like Pedro) as there were a lot of interruptions last night.

Whoa. Pedro makes Juventino look like a prude. What a cruel, sadistic pervmeister!

JL with his "I'm so irresistible you must hate me (til Angie dies)...get over yourself JL.

We'll see if Gracie's able to sniff out a fellow gold digger as she gets to know Sandie and Fabbie.

Maria's back amping up the bitch factor!

Gracie's insults shouldn't sting Fina anymore. . she should just laugh in Gracie's general direction. Dimmie was cute in his little uniform.

Thanks again Gloris, fun and funny!

Lila

Fina should just slap Gracie in her face, she may be an ugly duckling but has a noble heart,Gracie has the beauty but has nothing in her heart to give. Gracie mocks her but she should look at her mirror first, she stinks of greed!

Gloria – Great recap. My favorite snark moments:

“EZ then leads Ale to another room to take off his jewelry but we don’t get to see him take off his shirt.” And that was a crying shame.

“Doorbell rings and it’s former playmate now turned cray cray Maria barging in to pick up her crap.”

Ay, JL finally te amo Angie, but he does it under duress. I hope he does it again when they’re both calm. I don’t even want to think about the previews.

There’s kinky – hello! – and kinky – oh no! ITA, sure hope we don’t get more of Pedro’s peeping. Got the point, don't need to see it again, thank you.

So glad Monse had the good sense not to let Sandro "help" with Ale's case while his own lawyer is incomunicado.

Have to give points too to Refugio for calmly strategizing with JL on how to smoke out Joaquin. I thought Ref's suggestion for Angie to visit was a good one, but I do see why JL nixed it.

Oxnard - Your crack about Sandro's red blazer is a hoot. FG has such a gorgeous smile - I can picture him laughing when wardrobe handed him the blazer.

Gloria: Another excellent recap. You hit the ground running and captured the events with humor and insight.

"Angel doesn’t want JL to know she’s owner of the swanky club aka “El Escondido” (snort), "Joaquin plays host and offers Ale a seat at his elegant table. Ale answers with a one two punch to the face" were wonderful but "former playmate now turned cray cray Maria" was my favorite.

Like you daisy, I was eagerly awaiting Dimitrio's return home in what turned out to be all too an abbreviated scene! I wanted to see more of Gracie's reaction and of course had anticipated seeing a huge smile from Fina. Drat. Even more disappointing as they cut to the Victor/Nadia coupling (while being watched by the evil voyeur Pedro), which I could have done without. I see you agree Judy.

Fab held her own while Graciela bored a hole in her with her laser stare didn't she? It will be an interesting contest of wills between the two. I would place my money on Gracie if I were a betting woman though. And please Fab, lose the hat. Ack.

Oxnard, thanks for the humor which is badly needed here!

Carvivlie, the previews did not look good for Angelica. JL had better treasure every moment he will have with her. It appears the end is not far away.

Judy and Elna June, saying prayers for your friends who are suffering and to both of you for being such supportive and loyal ones.

Gloria, thank you!

Diana

Niecie, you framed what I was thinking perfectly: "Ay, JL finally te amo Angie, but he does it under duress". Yes. Sigh.

Diana

Gloria, thanks for the great recap on a rather dull, stupid episode.

Yes Lila, Fina gives her power away. I just wish she wasn't so pathetically insecure and she was getting more out of this than a man. Well, there's still time.

LOL, Nadia and Victor didn't suspect a set up from Pedro? Duh!

Graciela will kill, but Fab may not be quite that bad.

And then there's JL who's 'officially' insane at this point. Not just for repeating the same behavior, but also for thinking he can change someone else.

Marea Primavera

Diana:

Thank you. Abrazos a ti.

Elna June

Gloria, thank you for your wonderfully detailed recap. Your deadpan snark always cracks me up. Like Daisynjay I almost spewed when I read "Graceless arrives to bring sunshine to those she encounters." That woman is a buzzkill for sure; she sucks the air right out of the room.

Thanks again Gloria, I so very much appreciate the time and care you put into your recap.

"Graceless bringing sunshine to those she encounters " Imao, that was hilarious! The weather in Aguazul must be suffering much, the Nature cannot support so much Basuras it seems! The weather even turned cloudy and it was a Pedro episode, talk about Mother Nature having a good developed sixth sense..

Couldnt be more proud of Dimitrio he is making his father proud and Gracie needs to check her calendar ,its not April Fools for costume parties yet ,neither it is Halloween.

Thanks for this great recap, Gloria. Very funny and entertaining.

One minor thing... you said:

"She found out from Padre Anselmo the chismoso that Benny changed his will at the last minute."

I'm pretty sure that she said that she had found out that Padre Anselmo had convinced Benny to change his will. I don't recall her having met the padre yet.

I'm prepared to confirm that it was a call of the blood moment between Fabs and Gracie, but it sure wasn't a very touching encounter was it? I think with reptiles the call of the blood is a bit chillier than we are accustomed to.

Just when I think that Pedro couldn't get any creepier he manages to come up with something new and unique. Can anyone recall a previous TN character arranging for another man to have relations with his wife and setup a love nest for them complete with video cameras so he can watch? I think we may be plowing new ground here.

Victor cracked me up by insisting on paying the rent himself. What a guy.

Carlos

It sounds like Pedro has video cameras set up, which is what I would completely expect from him (as should Nadia and Victor for that matter). So to confirm, was he peeping through the window or using a hidden cam? Carlos I can't recall any past telenovelas wit this sort of plot device. It is exceedingly creepy which Sergio Sendel does so very well.

Big Pedro is watching you! And Padre Anselmo is too stupid to be yapping information to some strangers he barely knows he can trust,im losing faith in him with every passing episode,he is the most useless character in the whole show..

Good work, Gloria.

"Fabiola" and Graceless do resemble each other to some degree, but I agree that since the blood of reptiles runs cold there will be major conflicts and nastiness between these two whether they are related or not.

Pedro's spy cameras are beyond creepy. I guess he's working on making sure that Nadia and Victor don't use contraception. Next thing he'll do is make note of Nadia's monthly visits from Aunt Flo. His ultimate fate will be incredibly nasty.

What is beginning to be rather obvious and scary is that, quite frankly, the bad guys do seem to have the upper hand in the smarts department in this TN. Our resident good guys need to start taking some B12 or Gingko or something and fire up the brain cells. Fina seems to have good instincts, and with Dim having been on the Dark Side they will make a formidable team I think. But honestly, for the other people. Get a clue already! Or just start thinking like your adversaries...Have that What Would Pedro Do (WWPD) moment and act accordingly. Swear, they are all too innocent and unworldly for their own good. Might be a blessing in real life, deadly in a TN. If I only had JL as my only good-guy in a position of saving the day, I wouldn't be feeling all that warm and fuzzy.

Daisynjay

Thank you for the wonderful recap!

As more comes out about Fabs I am starting to get confused about Don Ben. So, going back, he knew that Graciela had his child, she wanted it dead, he took it and gave it to his sister. But even after knowing Graciela's character, he continued to sleep and have a relationship with her until his death. Does that kind of commitment to her prove he did love her? Or was he just continuing to use her all that time, knowing she wanted his money? Some 30 years of use! He probably did owe her a little something at the end, lol.

Gloria:

Thank you so much for this excellent and detailed retelling of the episode. Like Sylvia, I am a great fan of your deadpan asides. We really need them as this story goes down some gritty, gloomy paths.

Bad girls with ugly unflattering hats? It's just a thing, Jarifa. Personally, I'm waiting to see María sporting a variety of berets, all a size too small and in uniformly unflattering colors.

" I think with reptiles the call of the blood is a bit chillier than we are accustomed to."

Nice one, Carlos!

Daisynjay:

" Shouldn't condone the use of the tobacco, but it [smoking a pipe] did have a bit of a sophisticated and intellectual air about it. having Mr. Peepers do it....wrong, wrong, wrong."

hahahaha. Maybe this is their idea of a PSA?

Ah Elna June...you got it. Impermanence. Yes, that is what grieves me. Impermanence in life, impermanence in love, impermanence in friendship, impermanence in all our hopes and dreams. The fragility of it all. And right now I'm reading a book by Donna Tartt, the Goldfinch, which is about that in many ways, so it's hardly lifting my spirits.

But, as always, enjoy the humor and camaraderie on this line, Oxnard's Red Blazer riff, Daisynjay's "Eeeewwwww, we get it! enough already!" and Yikes, "a visit from Aunt Flo"? Hadn't heard that one, UA. Mercy. Oh, and Gloria's quip about Graceless "bringing sunshine". In my post-aerobics haze, I missed that one.

Anyway, thanks all...you're a fun, dear group. Carlos, I've got you and Lee's team "going places" in my brackets. When blue. Think about sports. Old Chinese saying.

Oh, and I guess I've got the fashion sense of an aborigine...I really like Fabiola's hats...on her anyway.

Thanks Gloria! enjoyable recap for lunch reading. Hopefully they will repeat the grand entrance of the man in uniform home... want to see that... was watching the voice and dwts (btw, who knew Candace Cameron-Buree can dance that way!! She is goood!!)

Benjamin Almonte was incapable of love. Graceless' decision to marry another man hurt his ego and interfered with his ability to have her at his beck and call whenever he pleased.

She managed to see him once a month, presumably for a long weekend, during her 30+-year marriage to Lauro. Longer, perhaps, when Lauro was deployed. On one level he lost control of her and on the other he didn't have to worry about her spending his money until it was all gone. One has to wonder what boudoir tricks she knew that he bothered with her at all once she decided to marry Lauro.

The fact that she would kill his child may have meant very little because the child was female.
He never had her come to stay at the property after her parents' death and not even after she would have finished school, so she only served as an instrument of his future revenge, whether she is actually his child or not.

Had Graceless' child been male the entire situation could likely have played out differently. However, if he were a wastrel, lazy, alcoholic jerk he could have been disinherited just as easily.

As before, the lists are mostly taken from recaps and comments. I'm so late posting it, that I really did not do a thorough proof. Please remember to correct anything I got wrong. Thanks.

Also wanted to thank all the recappers and commenters. As always you all are awesome.

For those of you that have had recent losses of, and bad news about, family/friends, my heart goes out to you and please know that I am sending lots of healing energy your way.

Nanette

I have just read the comments. HA..I especially enjoyed Pedro's new nicknames...Mr. Peepers and Pedro the Peeper. Yes, Pedro peeping.... Peeping Pedro...I guess none of us were too surprised after seeing him sitting in that darkened room where Adolfo and Malria had just finished getting busy, Pedro is a creepy piece of work.

My dad occasionally smoked a pipe. I can still smell that aroma.

Well, tonight I will be surfing into Robo during The Voice commercial breaks. Maybe I will be lucky enough to see both Dim and Ale in their new uniforms.

EJ...ommmmm .....Gee, I wish that I could be in your meditation group. I have never been successful at meditation even though I have read many articles on the subject. My mind seems to always be jumping around....just like me. I have trouble sitting still for very long except when I am correcting papers !!!!

Hmmm...soaking up those healing vibes. Feels good. Better than filling out brackets.

And loving the pipe smoke stories. Decades ago, in my twenties, wandering around Geneva, Switzerland, I followed a man smoking a pipe that smelled like rich cherry for blocks and blocks. He was quite ordinary looking. But the aroma of his pipe...intoxicating!

That was also where I bought my first bottle of Shalimar. Those two aromas will take me right back to that time in a heartbeat.

martaivett...I was watching the same two shows as you were ! Yes, Cameron was great, and she told her partner upfront that she was the mom of three and would not be wearing skimpy costumes !!!

Nanette, thank you for the lists, they are both fantastic. I am probably repeating myself, but I am a very visual person and it's hard for me to remember everything that has happened even with the wonderfully detailed recaps. Your lists are huge for helping me recall all the action. Not to mention the past couple of weeks have been pretty action-packed with new characters, big reveals, conkings and stabbings, and now Mr. Peepers...eeks!!! (The name reminds me of those old SNL skits with Chris Kattan as the weird monkey-child Mr. Peepers.)

JudyB, aren't olfactory memories incredibly strong? Sometimes it's almost enough to knock one down the memory can be so intense. Yours of Geneva are sweet.

Susanlynn, I can't meditate either. We need a tough love meditation tutorial from EJ.

Daisynjay..."What would Pedro Do?".... Blecchh....and yikes.....I get a little bit queasy just thinking about that question.

Sylvia....I have been catching the Pasion recaps lately and thinking about the fun ride that show was. Captain Rick in all his changing pirate glory...long hair..long hair with a bandana....shorter hair when he left pirating behind....back to a pirates life and back to very long, curly hair. Ahhhhhh... Good times....Then , there was Bouffant Lafont...He lost an eye...then he lost a leg...then..... Well. Then there was Lisbetta and her dolly (Gracie here)
And sweet, wild Mario...and handsome , dear Ascanio (Marcelo)...that was a great novela.
Perhaps , dear Sylvia, we are wrapped a little too tightly (or loosely ???) to meditate.

Thanks so much Gloria! Loved how you cleared up some confusing conversations. Very helpful in deciphering last nights epi.

Wow this TN is on the ropes! It dawned on me last night that every storyline feels played out EXCEPT Dim and Fina. And we were given, what, a miserly 15 seconds???

I thought it hilarious that paunchy, middle-aged desk jockey, Joaquin, after 5 minutes in the lock up had a gang and could wield a shiv! You go, Joaquin, you bada**!

DaisynJay: Our resident good guys need to start taking some B12 or Gingko or something and fire up the brain cells.. Hahahahahaha!!!! Sad but true.

Still love our little town of Aguazul but am currently bored!

Thanks again, Gloria!

Gloria,

Gracias amiga, for the excellent recap. So witty, snappy, and detailed. I enjoyed every word.

One of my favs:
"EZ then leads Ale to another room to take off his jewelry but we don’t get to see him take off his shirt."

Pervy! Pervy! Pervy Pedro! I agree that they stayed on that scene just a little too long. We got the picture. He likes to watch. NEXT!

I hate this part of TN's. Everything goes the bad guys way. The good guys get held back and are withheld important information. People are torn away from their loved ones and there is just a lot of suffering. It really sucks. But sometimes that's the way life is. Of course on the TN, it is way worse and more dramatic. So watching these stories unravel is an escape from our everyday life.

I hope JL can get Ale out of jail soon. I would hate to see him in there for too long.

Loved Dimi coming home in his uniform. Still not sure what to think of HatFab.

JudyB, sorry to hear about your friend. I know that you will be a great comfort to her during this trying time. Thoughts and prayers to you and your friend.

Nanette, thanks for the Low/High Points list. Awesome as always!

Back to painting the bedroom...hasta pronto!

Hey Marea Primavera! Lots of lost opportunities for wonderful developments with Fina. . .she's still my girl, though: glad she touched Dimmie's heart with her values, principals and devotion and that he didn't fall for her because of some superficial cosmetic changes.

Lila

Sylvia, Aunty Ann: you're welcome.

JudyB: my dad smoked a pipe for awhile and one of his tobacco choices smelled liked cherries. I loved it.

Lila: "glad she touched Dimmie's heart with her values, principals and devotion and that he didn't fall for her because of some superficial cosmetic changes."--I agree wholeheartedly.

I don't particularly like Fab's hats, but I'm the only one (I think) that likes her hair.

I belong to a meditation group that meets every Sat. morning. It's in the Hindu tradition. I love it. I'm not good at it, but I like the energy of the group and the teachings and afterwards, we all have chai and conversation.

Susanlynn, Maybe we are tightly wound, or maybe there is just too much darn stuff to think of!!

OT: are any of you Ohioans going to submit a name in the naming contest for the new blimp there?

Also, I picked Ohio State to win the whole thing. I make all my picks for reasons other than performance. Normally, I'd pick all the Indiana teams, but none made it this time (what?!--Hoosiers ARE basketball), so I tried to pick as many midwest teams as I could and CA ones--because I live here.

Sylvia...yes..that must be it....so much darn stuff to think about...Meh

Nanette..bless you. Not likely that Ohio State will win. Michigan State could go far. I'm picking Wichita State to take it all. But who knows? The folks who have been there before are the most likely. Hard to believe there are no Indiana teams in the dogfight. I still miss Bobby Knight. I know, I know, needs Anger Management workshops, but whadda guy.

JudyB: we've got a couple of people here at work that picked Mich State--my choice was between OH State and MI State and I went with Ohio.

Well, you've got a good heart, Nanette. Old Tom Izzo is an experienced slugger and so are his guys. They have muscled their way to the top or near top many a time. We just don't have the firepower this year, although I believe that our beloved Aaron Craft is the best defensive player in the country, bar none. But he's not a scorer, alas.

JudyB: I'm sure the guys here at work know what you're talking about, but I don't know anything about sports ;)

All the better...because there are always some big surprises in the NCAA tournament and I would love for you to be right! unlikely though it is.

OFF TOPIC/MUNDOFOX:

For those looking for a quality period/costume drama telenovela, tonight at 8pm, the Emmy winning Brazilian tn, Lado a Lado starts on MundoFox. Here's a synopsis and trailer: http://www.latintimes.com/lado-lado-synopsis-who-who-mundofox-new-primetime-brazilian-telenovela-photos-and-trailer-160253

Gloria, so very late to even comment, but this is the first chance today I've had to even read anything. Like Cap'n Sharkbait says, your deadpan asides are great. They are so welcome in the midst of all of the bad guys getting ahead lately!! Thank you so much, Gloria!!

JudyB You said this: " Impermanence. Yes, that is what grieves me. Impermanence in life, impermanence in love, impermanence in friendship, impermanence in all our hopes and dreams. The fragility of it all. And right now I'm reading a book by Donna Tartt, the Goldfinch, which is about that in many ways, so it's hardly lifting my spirits."

Oh my gosh, JudyB, if you ONLY KNEW how I have been pondering the fragility of things lately. Was thinking about reading the "Goldfinch". I think I will pass now. Too many sad things lately. Sometimes, I think too much.

March Madness is so unpredictable. I'm a UCLA girl myself, but my money is on Wichita State. I like it when the unexpected happens. I think we need to keep in mind U of Florida's massive 26 game winning streak! Anyway, I'd like to see the Shockers take it all. (I might be forever banned from Pauley Pavilion for saying that!!!)

I also love watching those classic B-ball games. I have a friend who gets that channel. He's really gotten me up to speed on some of the "old" successful coaches and love watching some of those games when they come up. My cousin went to 'Nova when Rollie Massimino was there. I love hearing his stories. :)

Nanette, another wonderful list!!

Ok, thanks for letting me throw in the B-ball stuff. It takes my mind of some of the downer stuff in this episode.

Demetrios, you NEVER fail to make me smile! Thank you!

Fatima

Great recap, Gloria, loved your description of Graceless and Fab's "staring contest".

For the record, I would like to quote from E.G. Morin's article (WE LOVE SOAPS) about Uni's prudishness especially on Robo. He's the excerpt:
"Univision has become increasingly prudish in recent years, an attitude at the network that would appear to conflict with the young make up of their audience....
Most ridiculously, audiences in the US are now being robbed of one of the most prominent attributes of telenovelas – steamy, passionate sex scenes. These scenes, sometimes lasting a minute or two in the Mexican airing, are being cut down by Univision to little more than an opening embrace and dissolve out. What is even more egregious is Univision’s editing sometimes alters the very intentions of a scene. A crucial consensual sex scene in LO QUE LA VIDA ME ROBÓ, the first between the protagonists, appeared to be a rape because Univision cut the sequence before the heroine reciprocated the aggressive advances of her husband, thus altering the very relationship between the two central characters for US audiences."
Punto!

How very interesting. Thanks for sharing Anon. I will have to find that article and read it entirely.
