Lo Quel la Vida Me Robo, Capitulo 89. 03/17/14
Labels: robo
Joaquin asking Ale to sit at his table makes me think his guilt is running over. But what did he think would happen? I do wonder if this might be the start to him confessing all to Ale.
Things not looking good for Angelica in the advances. Of course it would come right after JL professing his heart to her.
And how pervy is Pedro! So gross watching Nadia and Victor.
Thanks so much for this great, marvelous, detailed recap, I loved your asides : )
I missed this capitulo last night! I would have loved to see that heart felt scene with JL and Angie.
So Pedro is now in full control, blech! It's bad enough he is looking in windows and being in the room during "the deed", but the down fall of every good guy, double blech!
Poor confuzzled Monse. If Ale stays in the jail, the bad guys will run all over her. She won't have a centavo left!
I am so glad that Dimmy is staying the course and continues with the Navy. I think he will really prove himself. All that communing with Papa Lauro at his grave site really enlightened Dimmy.
Can't wait to see what happens tonight!
Thanks for a great recap! I was really excited to read what you'd have to say. I enjoyed it all, and this line was my favorite:
"(I looked at this whole exchange and thought to myself. Sandro wants to take charge as a man would do and Graceless just whizzed on it all to show she will be the alpha dog)."
So funny and such a perfect way to describe Gracie.
Gracie did look good, but to my mind, not all that different from the way she usually does except with straight hair a la Montse's usual style. (Maybe Gracie is unconsciously--or even consciously--mimicking her younger daughter?) I mean this is a woman whose most casual day-look is 3-inch heels.
But her evening look for her dinner with Sandro was MUCH BETTER than the mullet dress she had on when she went to visit Montse, though I admit I am VERY happy to see someone in this TN sporting mullet fashion. Maybe there was an earlier trend-setting moment with this, but I don't remember.
Thanks again, Gloria! It was a wonderful recap.
I have very few commens:
What is with Fabiola and the ugly hat and wearing it inside? (you can tell I cannot stand that character. :) )
I loved Dimitrio returning home and informing Josefina and Graciela where he had been all day.
"Pedro the Peeper": I guess nothing should shock us about Pedro anymore.
Jarifa
Pedro is overcompensating even with his computer monitor. I’ve never seen a bigger one!
Did anyone notice that Amelia got up at least a full second before her timbre de puerta sounded when Grouchy Graciela came-a-callin’?
[Maria](I suggest a cootie shot, since she got it on with Adolfo).
But your description of Graciela taking over with Sandro was also great.
Loved the staring contest between Fabiola and Graciela. Was that supposed to be "la llamada de la sangre" or just two skanks trying to suss out each other? Couldn't decide.
Another depressing episode, as far as I was concerned, other than the all too brief appearance of Dimetrio in his navy togs. Oh well, at least the writers threw us that bone.
Favorite line as far as the script went was when Refugio called Pedro a "poco hombre". Never was an epithet more deserved! Voyeur bit was creepy. Not comfortable with the porn aspect of this.
Guess we'll have to wallow in evil and setbacks for a few more months since they've extended this baby. Fasten your seatbelts and order a drink!
Thanks Ms. Gloria. Always appreciated. Know you're busy with family and work and LIFE! So gracias for taking the time to keep us up to date on these malos hombres y pocos hombres.
( "Graceless arrives to bring sunshine to those she encounters. "---Oh my stars. Lunch was splayed on my office desk, but this was worth it. Hysterical.)
Frankly, I watched all night to wait for Dim to come home from work. 50 minutes in finally happens, and we get what, 15 seconds. Loved the look on his face though. There better be a whole lot more to that scene than what we got last night.
As for the rest--predictable and whatever. Bad guys win, good guys get beaten up, blah blah blah.
As for the ending, my reaction to those last few minutes basically went:
" Ewwww, ewwww, really...oh c'mon, ewwww...stop already....hello, enough we get it...oh for the love of..."
I think the writers need to add an apology to all the dear men out there who still enjoy a nice pipe. I have fond memories of my dad puffing away once in awhile when I was very young...liked the aroma. Shouldn't condone the use of the tobacco, but it did have a bit of a sophisticated and intellectual air about it. having Mr. Peepers do it....wrong, wrong, wrong.
Daisynjay
Thank you for this really great recap. It is so clean, a perfect antidote to the telenovela confusion we are experiencing in the Great Extension.
Oxnard: You are cracking me up. I bet you keep your family in stitches with your wry comments. "Sandro has to lose the red blazer. I’m afraid some tourists are going to come up to him and ask if he can upgrade them from a compact to a mid-size."
JudyB: I was so sorry to read of your friend's diagnosis. I have two friends in my meditation groups who have metastatic cancers. I started the group for people with chronic pain some four years ago. We have already lost one member and now we have these two others in peril. Impermanence.
EJ
Whoa. Pedro makes Juventino look like a prude. What a cruel, sadistic pervmeister!
JL with his "I'm so irresistible you must hate me (til Angie dies)...get over yourself JL.
We'll see if Gracie's able to sniff out a fellow gold digger as she gets to know Sandie and Fabbie.
Maria's back amping up the bitch factor!
Gracie's insults shouldn't sting Fina anymore. . she should just laugh in Gracie's general direction. Dimmie was cute in his little uniform.
Thanks again Gloris, fun and funny!
Lila
“EZ then leads Ale to another room to take off his jewelry but we don’t get to see him take off his shirt.” And that was a crying shame.
“Doorbell rings and it’s former playmate now turned cray cray Maria barging in to pick up her crap.”
Ay, JL finally te amo Angie, but he does it under duress. I hope he does it again when they’re both calm. I don’t even want to think about the previews.
There’s kinky – hello! – and kinky – oh no! ITA, sure hope we don’t get more of Pedro’s peeping. Got the point, don't need to see it again, thank you.
So glad Monse had the good sense not to let Sandro "help" with Ale's case while his own lawyer is incomunicado.
Have to give points too to Refugio for calmly strategizing with JL on how to smoke out Joaquin. I thought Ref's suggestion for Angie to visit was a good one, but I do see why JL nixed it.
Oxnard - Your crack about Sandro's red blazer is a hoot. FG has such a gorgeous smile - I can picture him laughing when wardrobe handed him the blazer.
"Angel doesn’t want JL to know she’s owner of the swanky club aka “El Escondido” (snort), "Joaquin plays host and offers Ale a seat at his elegant table. Ale answers with a one two punch to the face" were wonderful but "former playmate now turned cray cray Maria" was my favorite.
Like you daisy, I was eagerly awaiting Dimitrio's return home in what turned out to be all too an abbreviated scene! I wanted to see more of Gracie's reaction and of course had anticipated seeing a huge smile from Fina. Drat. Even more disappointing as they cut to the Victor/Nadia coupling (while being watched by the evil voyeur Pedro), which I could have done without. I see you agree Judy.
Fab held her own while Graciela bored a hole in her with her laser stare didn't she? It will be an interesting contest of wills between the two. I would place my money on Gracie if I were a betting woman though. And please Fab, lose the hat. Ack.
Oxnard, thanks for the humor which is badly needed here!
Carvivlie, the previews did not look good for Angelica. JL had better treasure every moment he will have with her. It appears the end is not far away.
Judy and Elna June, saying prayers for your friends who are suffering and to both of you for being such supportive and loyal ones.
Gloria, thank you!
Diana
Diana
Yes Lila, Fina gives her power away. I just wish she wasn't so pathetically insecure and she was getting more out of this than a man. Well, there's still time.
LOL, Nadia and Victor didn't suspect a set up from Pedro? Duh!
Graciela will kill, but Fab may not be quite that bad.
And then there's JL who's 'officially' insane at this point. Not just for repeating the same behavior, but also for thinking he can change someone else.
Marea Primavera
Thanks again Gloria, I so very much appreciate the time and care you put into your recap.
Couldnt be more proud of Dimitrio he is making his father proud and Gracie needs to check her calendar ,its not April Fools for costume parties yet ,neither it is Halloween.
One minor thing... you said:
"She found out from Padre Anselmo the chismoso that Benny changed his will at the last minute."
I'm pretty sure that she said that she had found out that Padre Anselmo had convinced Benny to change his will. I don't recall her having met the padre yet.
I'm prepared to confirm that it was a call of the blood moment between Fabs and Gracie, but it sure wasn't a very touching encounter was it? I think with reptiles the call of the blood is a bit chillier than we are accustomed to.
Just when I think that Pedro couldn't get any creepier he manages to come up with something new and unique. Can anyone recall a previous TN character arranging for another man to have relations with his wife and setup a love nest for them complete with video cameras so he can watch? I think we may be plowing new ground here.
Victor cracked me up by insisting on paying the rent himself. What a guy.
Carlos
"Fabiola" and Graceless do resemble each other to some degree, but I agree that since the blood of reptiles runs cold there will be major conflicts and nastiness between these two whether they are related or not.
Pedro's spy cameras are beyond creepy. I guess he's working on making sure that Nadia and Victor don't use contraception. Next thing he'll do is make note of Nadia's monthly visits from Aunt Flo. His ultimate fate will be incredibly nasty.
Daisynjay
As more comes out about Fabs I am starting to get confused about Don Ben. So, going back, he knew that Graciela had his child, she wanted it dead, he took it and gave it to his sister. But even after knowing Graciela's character, he continued to sleep and have a relationship with her until his death. Does that kind of commitment to her prove he did love her? Or was he just continuing to use her all that time, knowing she wanted his money? Some 30 years of use! He probably did owe her a little something at the end, lol.
Thank you so much for this excellent and detailed retelling of the episode. Like Sylvia, I am a great fan of your deadpan asides. We really need them as this story goes down some gritty, gloomy paths.
Bad girls with ugly unflattering hats? It's just a thing, Jarifa. Personally, I'm waiting to see María sporting a variety of berets, all a size too small and in uniformly unflattering colors.
" I think with reptiles the call of the blood is a bit chillier than we are accustomed to."
Nice one, Carlos!
Daisynjay:
" Shouldn't condone the use of the tobacco, but it [smoking a pipe] did have a bit of a sophisticated and intellectual air about it. having Mr. Peepers do it....wrong, wrong, wrong."
hahahaha. Maybe this is their idea of a PSA?
But, as always, enjoy the humor and camaraderie on this line, Oxnard's Red Blazer riff, Daisynjay's "Eeeewwwww, we get it! enough already!" and Yikes, "a visit from Aunt Flo"? Hadn't heard that one, UA. Mercy. Oh, and Gloria's quip about Graceless "bringing sunshine". In my post-aerobics haze, I missed that one.
Anyway, thanks all...you're a fun, dear group. Carlos, I've got you and Lee's team "going places" in my brackets. When blue. Think about sports. Old Chinese saying.
She managed to see him once a month, presumably for a long weekend, during her 30+-year marriage to Lauro. Longer, perhaps, when Lauro was deployed. On one level he lost control of her and on the other he didn't have to worry about her spending his money until it was all gone. One has to wonder what boudoir tricks she knew that he bothered with her at all once she decided to marry Lauro.
The fact that she would kill his child may have meant very little because the child was female.
He never had her come to stay at the property after her parents' death and not even after she would have finished school, so she only served as an instrument of his future revenge, whether she is actually his child or not.
Had Graceless' child been male the entire situation could likely have played out differently. However, if he were a wastrel, lazy, alcoholic jerk he could have been disinherited just as easily.

My dad occasionally smoked a pipe. I can still smell that aroma.
Well, tonight I will be surfing into Robo during The Voice commercial breaks. Maybe I will be lucky enough to see both Dim and Ale in their new uniforms.
And loving the pipe smoke stories. Decades ago, in my twenties, wandering around Geneva, Switzerland, I followed a man smoking a pipe that smelled like rich cherry for blocks and blocks. He was quite ordinary looking. But the aroma of his pipe...intoxicating!
That was also where I bought my first bottle of Shalimar. Those two aromas will take me right back to that time in a heartbeat.
JudyB, aren't olfactory memories incredibly strong? Sometimes it's almost enough to knock one down the memory can be so intense. Yours of Geneva are sweet.
Susanlynn, I can't meditate either. We need a tough love meditation tutorial from EJ.
And sweet, wild Mario...and handsome , dear Ascanio (Marcelo)...that was a great novela.
Perhaps , dear Sylvia, we are wrapped a little too tightly (or loosely ???) to meditate.
Wow this TN is on the ropes! It dawned on me last night that every storyline feels played out EXCEPT Dim and Fina. And we were given, what, a miserly 15 seconds???
I thought it hilarious that paunchy, middle-aged desk jockey, Joaquin, after 5 minutes in the lock up had a gang and could wield a shiv! You go, Joaquin, you bada**!
DaisynJay: Our resident good guys need to start taking some B12 or Gingko or something and fire up the brain cells.. Hahahahahaha!!!! Sad but true.
Still love our little town of Aguazul but am currently bored!
Thanks again, Gloria!
Gracias amiga, for the excellent recap. So witty, snappy, and detailed. I enjoyed every word.
One of my favs:
"EZ then leads Ale to another room to take off his jewelry but we don’t get to see him take off his shirt."
Pervy! Pervy! Pervy Pedro! I agree that they stayed on that scene just a little too long. We got the picture. He likes to watch. NEXT!
I hate this part of TN's. Everything goes the bad guys way. The good guys get held back and are withheld important information. People are torn away from their loved ones and there is just a lot of suffering. It really sucks. But sometimes that's the way life is. Of course on the TN, it is way worse and more dramatic. So watching these stories unravel is an escape from our everyday life.
I hope JL can get Ale out of jail soon. I would hate to see him in there for too long.
Loved Dimi coming home in his uniform. Still not sure what to think of HatFab.
JudyB, sorry to hear about your friend. I know that you will be a great comfort to her during this trying time. Thoughts and prayers to you and your friend.
Nanette, thanks for the Low/High Points list. Awesome as always!
Back to painting the bedroom...hasta pronto!
Lila
JudyB: my dad smoked a pipe for awhile and one of his tobacco choices smelled liked cherries. I loved it.
Lila: "glad she touched Dimmie's heart with her values, principals and devotion and that he didn't fall for her because of some superficial cosmetic changes."--I agree wholeheartedly.
I don't particularly like Fab's hats, but I'm the only one (I think) that likes her hair.
I belong to a meditation group that meets every Sat. morning. It's in the Hindu tradition. I love it. I'm not good at it, but I like the energy of the group and the teachings and afterwards, we all have chai and conversation.
Also, I picked Ohio State to win the whole thing. I make all my picks for reasons other than performance. Normally, I'd pick all the Indiana teams, but none made it this time (what?!--Hoosiers ARE basketball), so I tried to pick as many midwest teams as I could and CA ones--because I live here.
For those looking for a quality period/costume drama telenovela, tonight at 8pm, the Emmy winning Brazilian tn, Lado a Lado starts on MundoFox. Here's a synopsis and trailer: http://www.latintimes.com/lado-lado-synopsis-who-who-mundofox-new-primetime-brazilian-telenovela-photos-and-trailer-160253
JudyB You said this: " Impermanence. Yes, that is what grieves me. Impermanence in life, impermanence in love, impermanence in friendship, impermanence in all our hopes and dreams. The fragility of it all. And right now I'm reading a book by Donna Tartt, the Goldfinch, which is about that in many ways, so it's hardly lifting my spirits."
Oh my gosh, JudyB, if you ONLY KNEW how I have been pondering the fragility of things lately. Was thinking about reading the "Goldfinch". I think I will pass now. Too many sad things lately. Sometimes, I think too much.
March Madness is so unpredictable. I'm a UCLA girl myself, but my money is on Wichita State. I like it when the unexpected happens. I think we need to keep in mind U of Florida's massive 26 game winning streak! Anyway, I'd like to see the Shockers take it all. (I might be forever banned from Pauley Pavilion for saying that!!!)
I also love watching those classic B-ball games. I have a friend who gets that channel. He's really gotten me up to speed on some of the "old" successful coaches and love watching some of those games when they come up. My cousin went to 'Nova when Rollie Massimino was there. I love hearing his stories. :)
Nanette, another wonderful list!!
Ok, thanks for letting me throw in the B-ball stuff. It takes my mind of some of the downer stuff in this episode.
Demetrios, you NEVER fail to make me smile! Thank you!
Fatima
"Univision has become increasingly prudish in recent years, an attitude at the network that would appear to conflict with the young make up of their audience....
Most ridiculously, audiences in the US are now being robbed of one of the most prominent attributes of telenovelas – steamy, passionate sex scenes. These scenes, sometimes lasting a minute or two in the Mexican airing, are being cut down by Univision to little more than an opening embrace and dissolve out. What is even more egregious is Univision’s editing sometimes alters the very intentions of a scene. A crucial consensual sex scene in LO QUE LA VIDA ME ROBÓ, the first between the protagonists, appeared to be a rape because Univision cut the sequence before the heroine reciprocated the aggressive advances of her husband, thus altering the very relationship between the two central characters for US audiences."
Punto!
