Caray, Caray!

Well Amigos, we dodged one bullet and got hit by another. PSMA stayed in its time slot at 8PM but Uni is up to the old tricks again, deleting scenes and combining episodes. Monday's episode was a sliced and diced scrambliation of episodes #86 and #87 in Mexico. I didn't know Uni was going to start doing this again, so I only watched the first episode online. I'm sorry to say that I missed lots of the dialogue in the second half because the closed captions were lagging way, way behind the conversations. I'd really appreciate if all of you could help fill in what I missed in the comments.

As usual - and I was really hoping I'd never have to type this again - deleted scenes are in italics. Some scenes have been combined:

Javier realizes the private investigator is following him.


Main Dish:
Javier jumps out of his car and confronts the PI. He quickly pats the guy down. The PI denies that he was following Javier. Javier claims he meant no harm, he's just a bit paranoid. The PI answers, "I can't blame you for being careful." Javier lets him go and laughs as he leaves because he took the PI's phone. I take it this PI graduated from the Detective School for Dolts and Dunces. Remember Magnum, PI? Well this is Remedial, PI. He doesn't drive a borrowed Ferrari, he drives a borrowed Chevy Vega.

Tita and Dan are visiting Mari at the orphanage to tell her about the Padre. Mari can't believe the Padre is dead. Dan says he has a few memories of his mom. Mari has no memories of her mom, not even a photo. The Padre was Mari's family, now he's gone. She is inconsolable.

Borlas is upset that Mari and the kids were picked up by the police. What did you expect Genius? That they'd get to go to Disneyland? Gonzo doesn't give a rip about them, he's surprised that they even mattered to Borlas. Gonzo is thinking about all the goodies they're going to steal from Tita's house tonight. Borlas is having second thoughts but Gonzo tells him once you're in, you can't get out.

As Javier goes through the PI's phone he says, "You're not that bright for a PI." (Yes, we know.) Javier finds the guy's number and dials it from his own phone. He reaches the PI's voice mail and gets his name, "Gabriel Bourlas." I still think he should have said, "You've reached Gabriel Bourlas, Remedial PI."

Aranza doesn't want Dafne to be angry. They've been friends since they were kids. Ara admits she shouldn't have told anyone what Dafne confided to her, about Dafne's years and years of longing for and loving Esteban.

Javier walks into the men's clothing store and leaves the PI's phone on the counter, then walks out. I wonder if this store has a shoplifting problem? Apparently no one works there. Javier's been in twice and we still haven't seen a salesperson.

Sonia, all dressed in black, visits Fabricio at his office. He wants to know what's with the outfit? Sonia claims to be in mourning. Someone she cared nothing deeply about died. She wants to tell Fab all about her family. Her mother married a General and it was very difficult to grow up in a military household. A few years later her brother Daniel was born. Daniel was always her stepfather's favorite. Sonia says her home life was rigid and lonely because Daniel was sent abroad to military school. That's why she bonded so closely with Aranza.  

At the funeral home Gil explains to some woman that Sonia was with the Padre just before he died. Mari kneels weeping at the foot of the casket. Dan enters in the same clothes he was wearing in jail. I know Gil told Dan he couldn't take anything from the house, but good grief, one of these adults needs to let this kid borrow some clothes. Bruno, Osvi, I'm looking at YOU. Dan hugs his father. Gil gets pissy with Dan about leaving the house and about Mari's presence at the funeral.

Osvi and Tita arrive and try to comfort Mari. Bruno and Ally see that Mari is taking the Padre's death very hard. Ally talks about adopting all the kids including Mari. Bruno looks doubtful.

Dan asks Cuca to take care of Gilberto.

Fabricio thanks Sonia for trusting him enough to tell him her story. Sonia sees that she's got Fab softened up - now's her chance and she takes advantage of it. She tells him about the Padre's funeral. It will be so hard to attend because the Padre meant soooo much to her that she helped him right into his grave. Would Fab go with her? Of course he'll go.

The PI comes back to the clothing store and retrieves his phone.

Isabel and Arturo talk about the kids being taken to the orphanage. Isabel wonders if maybe she and Arturo should consider adopting them? Art wants Isabel to talk with Maricela about her difficulties with pregnancy. Maybe Maricela can refer Isabel to a specialist. Isabel thinks that's not a bad idea. Arturo leaves to make the call to Maricela.

Chris and Ileana bring flowers for the Padre. Ileana asks Mari about the kids and about Gil. Mari tells her that the kids have gone to an orphanage and Gil will never accept her. He wants his son to have a girl who is refined, rich, and well-educated... someone like you.

Tita approaches Gil and asks him to make up with Dan. The poor kid thinks you don't love him. He's angry about Dan's relationship with Mari. Tita believes that their relationship will end. Gil stares at her.

Javier looks at the PI's website. He says something about Fabricio's relationship with Sonia, but I didn't catch what it was. 

Maricela and Isabel talk about pregnancy problems. Maricela offers to help Isabel get an appointment with a specialist; one of her colleagues who uses alternative methods to help women who have problem pregnancies. Can I say right now that I want to bang my head on the desk? Art and Isa don't even have the Aranza problem fixed yet so let's add gasoline to the flames....

Sonia introduces Fabricio to Gil. "He's the love of my life. A prince." Fab wipes the slobber off his shoulder. No, he's not a prince, but he does love Sonia very much and wants to make her happy. We can tell that Gil approves of Fabricio.

Borlas and Gonzo wait in the dark outside Tita's house for their accomplices.

Sonia runs into Cuca and explains that she is here with her father and her boyfriend. Cuca wants Sonia to tell Gil that she's Mari's mother. Sonia's expression shows she's hit another speed bump. (Damn. Just as I'm getting the last one buried...) Sonia tells Cuca that the story about her being Mari's mother is "a fantasy, a lie" and warns her not to go spreading that story around. "Is that clear, Cuca?"

Borlas, Dante, Gonzo and Pablo pull on their ski masks and make their way into Tita's house. They run smack dab into a facefull of big, sharp, white canine teeth. Don Porfirio growls in the dark. Good dog! He starts barking at the intruders. Zenaida, who is in the kitchen, hears the dog barking and comes in to check. Gonzo takes a swing at Zenaida's head and Borlas shouts a warning. Zenaida recognizes Borlas' voice and calls out "Is that you Borlas?" Gonzo grabs Zenaida from behind and holds a gun to her head. Borlas gets hold of the dog and shoves him outside. Don Porfirio breaks free and runs back into the house through another door setting off the alarm. The would-be thieves realize the jig is up and scamper out the door. Borlas and Gonzo take off on Tita's motorcycle.

Isabel phones Art and tells him she has an appointment with Dr. Zamora, a friend of Maricela.

Back at the funeral, Cuca tells Tita that Sonia refuses to recognize Mari as her daughter. She pleads with Tita to talk to Sonia. Tita doesn't think that is a good idea and warns Cuca not to say anything to anyone.

Back in the Storeroom of Stolen Things Borlas remembers the night he beat Daniel, remembers Gonzo saying they are "brothers", and Zenaida calling out, "Is that you Borlas?" Gonzo asks what Borlas is thinking about. They end up in an argument and Borlas threatens to leave. Gonzo reminds Borlas that he's in pretty deep.

Isabel wants to ask Maricela a question. "And please..." Isabel pauses, "be totally honest in your response."
"Of course."
"Are you in love with my husband?"

(I am not sure I caught this conversation correctly. Please correct me if I'm wrong.)
Maricela tells Isabel that Arturo was a wonderful boyfriend and she had a great friendship with Osvaldo. She and Arturo had been together for a long time, their fathers knew each other since they were young, everyone assumed they would end up together. Then her dad had to go to work in Canada. She came back at the end of high school and by then Arturo had met Eugenia.

The house alarm ringing, Zenaida crawls to the phone crying.

Tita gets a phone call from Zenaida about the robbery. Ally tells Bruno they need to go home. Tita tells Osvi about the robbery attempt and that Zenaida is scared to death. They all leave the funeral.

Arturo talks to Maricela about how important it is for Isabel to have a child.

Ozvi cautions Fabricio to go slow in his relationship with Sonia. "You don't really know her. She could have secrets. Just look at me!"

Arturo and Isabel meet with Dr. Zamora. He thinks Isabel may have an endocrine problem and that they should run some tests. I thought Isabel had been undergoing fertility treatments long before she got pregnant with Miguel. Why didn't that doctor think of this? Arturo and Isabel get all excited that they might have another chance to be parents.

At Tita's, Zenaida says there were three robbers and one of them might have been Borlas. She isn't 100% sure it was him but it sounded like his voice. The robbers didn't take much stuff but they did take off with Tita's motorcycle!

Dafne goes to dinner at Esteban's house. Andrea and Mauricio ask how she and Esteban became novios.  Dafne re-runs the story that she always loved Esteban but never said anything for Aranza's sake.

At Arturo's, Javier offers to take Aranza out, she prefers to stay home and study. He seems relieved.

Arturo and Isabel go out to dinner and talk about Maricela. Art says he was attracted to her but it wasn't love.

Dafne comes home all smiles and tells Aranza that she had dinner with Esteban and his parents. Their relationship is very serious.

Tita visits Sonia and wants her to fess up to being Mari's mother. Fabricio has a right to know about her past. Sonia denies that Mari is hers.

Mari talks to Edgar about the kids' adoptions. She wants them to stay together.

At breakfast Bruno finds out that Tita has already left the house. What could be so important? Ally and Dan think that maybe she's gone to talk to her biker friends about her stolen motorcycle. Bruno asks himself, "Just how important is that motorcycle to my mama?"

At work, Gabi and Isa talk about Gabi's baby. She and Arturo want to be Godparents of Gabi's son. "Or daughter!" Gabi exclaims. Isabel asks, "What if you're having twins? Isabel assures Gabi that her present and her future will be good. Very good.

Arturo tells Bruno he hasn't heard anything from the private investigator. Maybe Javier is okay after all. He's responsible, generous. Bruno disagrees.

Sonia agrees to a test to prove she isn't Mari's mother. Tita doesn't think she's honest and will falsify the results. Sonia tells Tita to arrange things. She'll give her a hair sample, Tita can get a sample from Mari and take them to a lab that she trusts to do the tests. Tita agrees to this plan. Sonia says, "Perfect. Then we'll know the truth."

If I get a chance I may watch the second episode online and try to fill in the deleted scenes.
