Que Pobres Tan Ricos # 45: 3/10/14:Nepo Has Got Lupita Under His Skin!
Hola, Amiguis! This recap will be short and sweet, not in order for better flow. Shall we begin? Here's a little earworm for you as you enjoy the recap: I've Got You Under My Skin
Mini and MA will be meeting somewhere they haven't met before, he is accepting her help to prove his innocence. She'll use the GPS to find the place.
Vilma is trying to give Ahole a massage, cause well, he is muy tense, what with MA and Adolfo still on the loose, if only they would be picked up by the cops. Vilma massages a bit too hard for Ahole's taste, so she has to soften her touch.
AS, Leo and Maca are at the Club that AS belongs too. Lots of people greet AS and seem happy to see her. Maca and Leo go off on their own as AS continues on to see her BFFs. She runs into them talking with Isela. They basically ignore Isela and talk to AS. They will play canasta, but Isela doesn't want AS playing because she has no money. AS pulls a big wad of bills out of her pocket book and it's on to playing. Isela does her best to sling arrows at AS, but it's not working. AS tells her BFF's about Maca and Leo getting married. They'd like an invite if you please. AS will see what she can do. Maca wants a private affair on the beach. The Ladies think about maybe Queen Isabella, Camilla Parker Bowles and other royality from Europe will show up. AS goes and Isela says she thought Leo was gay. Not so say the Ladies, he's just artistic. Isela then tries to say that according to Ahole, those RP's are bankrupt. Again not so. Isela is foiled again!
Nepo is talking to Trefeo about some type of promotion when Guendy comes for a visit. Guendy wants to know about his mis planes for Lupita, when is that happening? Today is the day he says!
Perla is at work mooning over Deigo. Guendy thinks he's into Frida and Perla not very happy with that, so I think she'll make a play for Deigo.
Carmelita and Lupe are in the kitchen at the Fonda talking about an upcoming wedding they are catering when MA comes down. He has financial experience, here he goes again, but they don't need his help. He needs Lupe's advice and Lupe gives a signal to Carmelita it's time to go. MA would like to work. He says Nepo was right. Lupe suggests he go to Nepo's house and ask for his job back, Nepo's bark is worse than his bite. Is he sure he wants to lug those boxes again? MA has no choice. He goes.
Trefeo is back with Nepo with some literature, I think, and then MA comes. MA would like a word with Nepo he also compliments Nepo on his home. He apologizes to both men for being such a jerk, and he'd like another chance to work for Nepo. Guendy and Perla come by and is Guendy ever happy to see Mike (MA). MA wants Nepo to forgive him and Guendy says that Mike is asking with his heart in his hand. Nepo gives in and gives MA his job back, but not for MA he's doing this for Lupe. MA is happy and so is Guendy.
Mini is checking the clothes in her closet for what she'll wear when she goes to meet MA, like a femme fatale or just ordinary clothes? What to do? Isela comes in and she tells her real quick what is going on, but not to tell Ahole, who comes in and wants to know what is up with the clothes. He wants her to wear stuff a married woman wears, not that dress that Mini has on the bed. Isela says there are maternity clothes and puts a Mumu right against Mini, who is hating it and Isela I'm sure.
Perla is on her way back to the shop when Tomas kinda sorta stops her. He wants a date with her. She says only if her Papa, the Hijo de Sumatra, says it's okay. Tomas has to ask him.
Guendy is strolling with MA and is too close for comfort for MA. She tells him all about the upcoming Noche de Romance of Lupe and Nepo, Que, Que, what from MA. Guendy tells Mike it is normal for couples going out to have some romance time alone. She'd like to go to the movies with Mike. He doesn't even answer, he just goes.
AS, Leo and Maca are back from the club and now Maca wants to go to a special place for dinner. She goes up to change while AS and Leo wonder where this time! AS thinks maybe Hungarian or maybe even Polish, I think. AS tells Leo she didn't tell her friends the truth and she can't wait for Leo to marry Maca so they can leave this penury behind. Eskimo kisses! Maca comes back down dressed in jeans and wants to have some authentic Mexican this evening. She's already picked a place and they will all go there. They take a taxi and go.
MA comes back to the Fonda and tells Lupe he got his job back with Nepo and is she happy with Nepo? Lupe doesn't get it of course (cause she has no idea what is coming) and Carmelita asks what is up with Lupe's Primo? She has no idea.
Nepo and Deigo are at the soccer field. I guess Trefeo went and got some literature at the University for Deigo about careers. Nepo will allow for Deigo to go to school but in these fields, architecture, engineering, lawyer, doctor, etc. He wants Deigo to have nothing to do with Art, Dancing or Music y punto. And if these don't work he can just play soccer. Deigo is kinda happy.
Ahole, Isela and Mini are at dinner at home. Islea is complimented on her choice of the dinner. Now that Penthouse rehab comes up and Islea would like some more cash for that. Produce the bills and Ahole will pay, Isela foiled again!
Guendy is giving Nepo a little trim and some after shave treatment and they talk about this dinner, little hotel rendevous thingy. She tells Nepo that Lupe will probably be nervous, she may resist some, but keep on keeping on and this night of romance will happen. Guendy doesn't give good advice, jus' sayin'. Nepo is nervous too and both Guendy and Deigo fan Nepo's face to dry it. Deigo looks so sad!
AS, Leo and Maca have arrived at the place for dinner. It's in a dimly lit street, no restaurant in site, it's a little taco stand, who knew! I recognized that they serve tongue (I personally don't like that, sorry) and some other stuff. Maca is over the moon, and what about AS and Leo, not so much! Leo isn't liking it and tells Maca so. She could get Montezuma's revenge and Maca thinks that is just superstition. She is insistant and orders her food, while AS and Leo look like they want to hurl. I think she said this was on her!
MA is up in the Penthouse with his jacket and is shivering, and sees Frida. She says Granny is sleeping, he tells her he is going back to work for Nepo, he has to work to help out the familia. Frida is thinking of giving up school for a year. He doesn't want her to do that y punto. There will be no quitting.
Nepo toots that horn on his truck, which kinda sounds like El Burro's horn from Una Familia Con Suerte, and MA and Frida see Nepo pick up Lupe for her unknown Night of Romance. Nepo is about to kiss Lupe, she sees MA and Frida, Frida goes and MA hides his eyes, and Lupe dodges the kiss and goes off with Nepo in the truck.
AVANCES:
MA and Guendy have a bit of a meet.
Nepo gives Lupe her surprise Night of Romance. Will she be pleased or not? Tune in Este Martes for Marta's take on what happens next! MUST SEE TV!

Madelaine, I absolutely loved your earworm. One of my all time favorite oldies. Also thank you for your wonderful recap.
What an episode!
Just when I thought that Nepo finally "got it" with his son by sending Trofeo out to get all of the university info, he showed he clearly didn't "get it" by putting the arts off limits. That leaves Diego no where.
Loved how one of AS's BFF's brought up Oscar Wilde in the discussion of Leonardo being possibly gay. Too funny.
Also found it funny how Minerva compared her relationship to her mother Isela as "uña y mugre": a "(finger) nail and the dirt under it." Of course Minerva was the nail and her mother the dirt. Those two don't miss a beat.
MA is using his little two hand salute more and more. Very funny. He sure had Lupita wondering with his mood when he returned from Nepo's and telling her that he had found out why her boyfriend was so happy.
Well, AS and Leonardo tried to warn Macarena off the street food. Maybe she won't suffer Montezuma's revenge.
Now to the avances. Looks like Nepo wasn't really listening to Lupita either.

I can't get enough of Guendy or Minnie. That scene at Nepo's in which MA kept trying to avert his eyes every time Guendy shifted her position had me howling with laughter.
In addition to tongue, the street vendor offered tacos with nana (I haven't a clue), buche (pork stomach or esophagus depending on the source), and cachete (beef cheek... this I've had... delicious). You've got to admire Maca's adventurous nature.
I'm excited to see Lupita's reaction to Nepo's love nest tonight.

I'm glad you liked the earworm. Frank is one of my all time favs. I did hear the Oscar Wilde, those ladies can come up with famous names all the time can't they? Thanks for the fingernail phrase. That finger sniffing character that Molly Shannon did on SNL, Mary Katherine Gallagher with the Super Star finger sniffing. I think it's the way he holds his hands so close to his nose.

Thanks so much about the food, can I say ewwwwww! My Mother was German and she ate blood and tongue, it's a lunch meat type of thing. I never ate it, I couldn't even look at it. I do however, like hog jowls. Now they are good, like bacon good ; )

I agree with those that have said that Maca is not really a countess. Just a hunch, but I think she is not even from Spain. She was way too comfortable and nonchalant about ordering the tacos, even while pretending this was an "adventure" for her. She won't get Moctezuma's revenge because she's used to eating this all the time! Can't wait until this trio discovers the truth about each other.

Thanks, Madelaine! I was actually on the edge of my seat (well, my bed) last night wondering where they would go for dinner and a million other things. I can't wait for tonight!!!
Funny - as angry as I am with AS for playing with stolen money and for pimping her son, and as true as Isela's nasty words were, I still was rooting for AS in that scene. (I don't know if this means that I like AS or if it just means that I hate Isela more.) I laughed when AS waved all that cash at her.
And when AS said that some ambassadors' wives had donated money to her "charity for poor Italian children" I kinda hoped that they would be shamed and make donations too, but no such luck...
Ever notice, Macarena is always taking a bath? Don't they have any water in Spain (or maybe she just lives on Spain St. in La Nopalera)? I wondered how she was going to get out of paying for a fancy dinner. I thought she'd do a dine 'n' dash, or maybe the old "there's a fly in my soup" trick, but the taco stand was pure genius. She sure didn't want any tacos when Leo was paying the bill!

When Isela gets into her posh snob posturing routine, she looks like a Muppet. Something about the angle of her head and the way it bobs around and her wide mouth flapping.
Best part of the epi, to me, was MA trying to save himself from the visual of Guendy's nethers as she kept recrossing her legs in that tiny skirt. I wonder how many takes they needed for her to just barely not quite actually flash the camera.

Mini and Maca were great in this episode, as usual. Ahole and Leo may have both bitten off more than they can chew. The taco stand scene killed me.
I wonder how good an artist Diego is. I think it would be funny if he turned out to be way more talented than Leo.
