Que Pobres tan ricos #46...Nepo's date plans backfires, Tomas finds out about the 'primos'. MA back to work. An upcoming MA/Mini meeting starts to snowball and not in a good way.
Nepo comes to pick up Lupe, she thanks him, he says I am just in LUUUUUUUVVV… no kiss since Lupe sees MA up there.
Nepo has taken Lupe out to eat at a fairly humble café… Chinese food menu. Funny how Nepo speaks ‘chinese’. Lupe does not want to order but Nepo orders a huge steak for her and tamarind juice.
Nepo begins by apologizing for the other nite. All forgotten, says Lupe. She is just thankful now and ever. Nepo toasts to her, the most beautiful woman in the world, and for the unforgettable nite ahead. Later, Lupe says she knows Nepo has planned a romantic nite, but she has not dated in so long… (excuse #353… Lupe asks Nepo about DA’s mom. He says she just left them. Lupe says she asked because she knows very little about him. Nepo says it was hard work that got him to his ‘banana king’ status. He just needs a little chance to show her all he can do for her ‘and with her’. Lupe says if there is one thing she is sure of is that he is a man through and through. But as far as getting to know each other, easy does it. Nepo does not want secrets between them… he wants to take her to a special place. Lupe says no its getting too late and don’t want to leave Emi alone too long, is not used to hang out in the street at nite. (Nepo remembers Gwendy’s advice that Lupe’s reluctance is positive…) Nepo insists that the place he is going to take her is very pretty… Lupe gives in to his persistence. Nepo wants her to close her eyes for the ride and he will let her know when to open them once they get to the special place. Lupe protests but gives in as long as it won’t take them too long.
Still at dinner table, Isela squeezes A-hole’s cheeks again. Mini still looks too-happy so A-hole asks her again if there is reason… she says it’s the pregnancy and hormones. A-hole feeling like cashing in on the hormone high. He leaves the ladies. Isela again rants at Mini to forget MA because if A-hole catches her… Mini warns her you better help me get MA back or else…
Gwendy tells Carmelita that MA will fall in her arms sooner or later. Carmelita says you will just ruin MA, he has a lot of baggage with his family’s issues. MA comes down, gets some drink. When MA comes out with pitcher, Gwendy helps him serve himself some … making him very nervous while at it. MA says have to go to work early tomorrow… Gwendy again repeats that Nepo and la Lupis are out. Carmelita sees where Gwendy is heading and grimaces to her. Tomas arrives. Gwendy shoves him down on couch with Carmelita and goes to get on MA’s face again… Later, Chuy has joined them, asks Tomas what he came for. Tomas came to ask permission to date Perla in advance. Meanwhile Gwendy is massaging MA so hard he is grimacing loudly. Chuy all too happy to allow Tomas and Perla to date. Gwendy already planning a double date with Tomas and Perla. She slips that they are ‘family’. Tomas suddenly is very interested in how come they are related. Chuy asks MA to explan the story to Tomas and he does. The whole story, even that MA is hiding from police and from A-hole. Tomas promises he will never tell on them. But be warned, if MA gets caught, Don Chuy and family will also be arrested. Tomas even offers his services as ‘lawyer’ to MA. MA says thanks, but I have Saul. But thanks anyway. (handshake) MA leaves. Chuy apologizes to Tomas for not being totally honest with him. Tomas tells Chuy that given the RP’s delicate legal situation, he could kick them out anytime from the house.
Nepo and Lupe arrive at the motel love nest room… open your eyes! … she looks around (the pole, the heart bed, the flowers, candles, cheesy pink stuff all over, and is frozen shocked… what do you think? Where do you think you brought me, Nepomuceno Escandiondas??!! I thought you were going to be nice to him… you should be ashamed of yourself. I won’t disrespect you ‘as you have disrespected me, by the way’. If I get over the anger someday, maybe we will talk again. She won’t even accept a ride back from him. She takes off, wants the reception to call for a taxi for her. Lupe leaves even though Nepo caught up to her at reception, but she won’t even let him speak.
Chuy tells Tomas that he is still planning to pay MA for the house the money he has left to pay them. Tomas admires his honesty. Chuy says he made a promise to Aureliano, and in his absence, he will come through for his descendants. Tomas says don’t trust them. They still would have their connections no matter how poor they are now. Hopefully they won’t play a nasty trick on you after you are so nice to them.
Carmelita and Gwendy… Carmelita insists that Gwendy should not get too hopeful with ‘el Mike’. Until he shows you any interest, don’t get too hopeful. Gwendy insists she will ‘convince’ him. They end up arguing, Gwendy says ‘if you don’t ask, God doesn’t hear you’. Gwendy turns the subject around on Carm, you have your ‘guy’ at your reach and if you are not with him is because you have not ‘asked’. Carmelita gets a bit upset. Gwendy keeps twisting the knife in the wound, Carmelita won’t talk about it.
A-hole is working at home (specifically in bedroom). She gets mad at the lack of attention, accuses him of watching porno on the laptop… he shows her the screen, is doing some work. You take care of our baby, I will take care of the work. I will be right back. (she is not a happy camper).
Next morning, Lupe is in kitchen, MA comes to her… She asks him if he is ready for work. Want coffee? … not really, not today. MA brings up the subject of Lupe’s date with Nepo last night, she must not have slept enough… She says she did not loose sleep… Really??? Really?? Really?? Really!! Really!! Really!! MA then asks for the coffee, she says too bad, you said you did not want any so this one is for me. MA says he will have to walk to work today… They have another sweet nonsense talk before he walks away and she smiles…
Breakfast at patio, Mini and Isela… Isela tries to speak highly of A-hole, Mini says he is a nobody, even calls me ‘gordis’. A-hole comes out… tries to talk to Mini, but she won’t give him the time of day other than angry ranting… (certainly she got up on the wrong side of the bed)… Isela offers counseling on their relationship, sex, communication, etc. A-hole says thanks but no thanks. Mini asks Isela for her opinion if she should put on the sexy black dress or the one with more cleavage. Isela irritated at her for risking their future. Mini could care less for her warnings. She is happy for the upcoming meeting with MA. Isela wishes she had the key to lock Mini in her room… (LOL!)
At work, Nepo is calling himself a donkey, brute, beast, etc… Gwendy comes in anxious to hear about the romantic nite… Nepo really angry at her, everything came out totally backwards from how you expected. He even calls her a ‘peluquera’(the humble term), she claims she is a stylist. Nepo mad that he lost all chance with Lupe. He does not want to hear any more advice from Gwendy. Gwendy says he must have scared/spooked Lupe because he went too fast and Lupe showed her decency. Gwendy says she won’t cry to not run her eyeliner, Nepo is still shouting angrily to her. She warns she will leave, he does not want to even see her again until he forgives her… GWendy is offended and warns he will have to wait for her to forgive him. Finally Nepo manages to get Gwendy to leave, and tells himself he already lost his Lupita.
At work, MA is not getting any better reception from Trofeo or the others… They get him to working hard right away. They are enjoying themselves, MA is looking at them like they are aliens he can’t recognize.
Lupe comments to Carmelita what happened and Carmelita says ‘you are acting as if you don’t know Nepo’ and laughs about it. Lupe not ready to laugh, she is still very irritated. Carmelita says Nepo waited long, granted, he messed up on his approach but… Carmelita warns Lupe there might be bigger trouble ahead if he keeps on waiting for something that he will never get. Lupe says you are right, but I have to get over this anger before I talk to him seriously again.
MA receives a cell phone call. Its … wait for it … wait for it…... Mini drooly Barbie! Gwendy is watching MA from behind the wall… Gwendy guesses MA is serious with a girl and is mad… MA agrees with Mini that she will pick him up. Gwendy nods angrily…
Isela comments that the place MA is at is not known to them… Mini keeps wondering what dress to wear, Isela is again in the mood of giving another ‘Mother Superior sermon’ as Mini called it. Mini keeps Isela’s mouth shut with the only thing that will do the trick, gives her her credit card. Isela is going SHOPPING!!!
At the fruit stand, Trofeo wants MA to pay for the time he took for the call. Gwendy comes and Trofeo ends up protecting MA’s vital space from her, MA takes his escape, followed by Trofeo.
At office, A-hole is working, Vilma comes with his status report, reminds him that Mini’s birthday is coming. A-hole thinks this is why Mini is so irritated at him lately, she is expecting a spectacular birthday present. A house in Cancun, Colombian emeralds, or a fur coat maybe.. A-hole calls Mini on cell. He says we have been arguing lately, why don’t we go out to eat. Mini says just arrived at club with mi mami, why not tomorrow? (pretty much hangs up on him). A-hole tells Vilma to order the biggest flower arrangement for Mini. He will surprise her by meeting her at the club. Vilma leaves, A-hole looks up , asking why God made him so smart.
At club, A-hole arrives with the biggest red rose bunch I ever saw. He runs into Chavela and Genobeba, he asks them for Mini. They have not seen them. They have been here all day. A-hole not a happy camper.
Previews: Radio Gossip is up and going… Gwendy gossips to Lupe on MA and his ‘date’. A-hole almost blowing fire out his nose… swearing he would kill Mini.

I just knew this date with Lupe and Nepo would not end well. I felt so sorry for Lupe. She really had no idea. I can't believe Nepo went along with Guendy's plan. Now I wonder why exactly Nepo's wife left him and Deigo. Hmmmm.....
Guendy is too funny, but I liked Carmelita warning Guendy not to attach herself to Mike. Carmelita actually gives very good advice. Too bad Nepo didn't ask her.
Don Chuy really has a heart of gold. He is still paying back the RPs. What a guy. I'd really hate to be in AS' shoes though, when he finds out she took that money.
Ahole is a real male chauvinist isn't he? He treats Vilma like crap, and she is smarter than he is. He also treats Mini this way, like she is the little woman to care for the bebe and the house, she has no brain in her head for bidness. I bet she could negotiate rings around Ahole. I really can't wait for his anvil!
I can't wait for this meeting between Ahole and Mini, it should be fun.

Cute scene with MA and Lupita in the early morning. I got a kick out of MA squawking at the stuffed parrot and silly talking with Lupita. Boy, did his demeanor change quickly when he realized Lupita had not slept with Nepo. He even did a goofy happy dance.
Very distracting: when Lupita's phone rings it has the same ring tone as all of the phones did in PEAM. And I was thinking I had heard the last of that obnoxious ring but I guess not.

Lupe could not have been clearer with Nepo that she didn't want to play any mattress hockey with him yet, but he still would not stop talking about how they needed to "get to know" each other. What did he expect?? Argh I know I'm beating a dead horse and I know people this stubborn in real life too, but SERIOUSLY.
And he is the same way with Diego. That's probably what went wrong with his wife, too. "I'm leaving you. Do you hear me, Nepo? I'm going away and not coming back. I've packed my bags... I'm opening the door... byeeeeee..." and ten minutes later Nepo says "hey, where's my wife?"
Was that hotel, in fact, the same place where MA spent his first night as fugitive? I know it's not the same room, but it's a similar layout and I thought maybe the same receptionist. (It could be interesting if MA and Lupe end up having to go there together someday for some crazy reason.)
So when Chuy explained to Tomas about the "cousin" situation, was Gwendy still in the room? I lost track of what happened there. Did Carmelita yank Gwendy out of there first? Did she tell Gwendy what's really going on? (I assume NO ONE wants Gwendy to know, since she has such a big mouth!)
MA told Mini not to dress too conspicuously when she meets with him... LOL... she's another character who doesn't listen.
Jarifa, that ring tone was also in UFCS. I think Pablo said it's because they (producers? Televisa?) must have had a promotional deal with Unefon. It's REALLY irritating!

And he is the same way with Diego. That's probably what went wrong with his wife, too. "I'm leaving you. Do you hear me, Nepo? I'm going away and not coming back. I've packed my bags... I'm opening the door... byeeeeee..." and ten minutes later Nepo says "hey, where's my wife?"
Was that hotel, in fact, the same place where MA spent his first night as fugitive? I know it's not the same room, but it's a similar layout and I thought maybe the same receptionist. (It could be interesting if MA and Lupe end up having to go there together someday for some crazy reason.)
So when Chuy explained to Tomas about the "cousin" situation, was Gwendy still in the room? I lost track of what happened there. Did Carmelita yank Gwendy out of there first? Did she tell Gwendy what's really going on? (I assume NO ONE wants Gwendy to know, since she has such a big mouth!)
MA told Mini not to dress too conspicuously when she meets with him... LOL... she's another character who doesn't listen.
Jarifa, that ring tone was also in UFCS. I think Pablo said it's because they (producers? Televisa?) must have had a promotional deal with Unefon. It's REALLY irritating!

So Gwendy and Nepo are the only people in the Menchacas' inner circle who don't know the whole story yet, right? (Depending on who you consider "inner circle"... I'm excluding any friends of the family that we don't see regularly, and also Diego because he doesn't hang out with the Menchacas very much.)
And Chilaquiles doesn't know. I'm not sure if I would call him "inner circle" either, but since they'll be hosting his godson's wedding soon, he might see something that forces Chuy to reveal the secret yet again.

The funny thing about the Unefon ringtone is that it gives the impression that there's no way to change it, which would be a huge turnoff for a lot of potential customers. Like how you couldn't get away from the Nokia ringtone some 15+ years ago and everyone really started to hate it.
If Unefon DOES let you change the ringtone but still wants to retain their branding in the shows, they could at least make multiple versions of the ringtone available (one version played on a saxophone, another version played with chiming bells, etc), so that people can tell one ringing phone from another and customers will know that ALL phones don't have to sound alike.

Maybe Mrs. Nepo was pregnant when she left him, and Nepo has a whole other kid that he doesn't know about.

Julia: After the beets and turnips incident, Nepo felt guilty. He thought it over and realized what he had done wrong. He told his wife, "You don't have to have turnips and beets if you don't want them. I'll take you to the vegetable market and you can pick out any veggies you want. Just as long as they're not onions or carrots!"
And then he took her to the market blindfolded and surprised her with a stunning array of turnips and beets.

Guendy does bear a bit of responsibility since she pointed out that the pickup truck was not the best spot in which to advance their relationship to the next level and helped him choose a more romantic venue. I think there may have been a paucity of candles and the pole was probably definitely a turnoff. Also, I didn't see any chocolate dipped strawberries. I say give it another shot with a bit more attention to details.

Nepo's real failure is that he did not call Sexpress, my imaginary business, to order tons of flowers and candles. A quick shipment with free setup would have really classed up that joint. Then we would have arranged for someone to intercept Lupita and send Nepo up to the room to wait for her, and then we would have sent Guendy instead.

I do have a "serious" question though. It seemed MA changed course suddenly in wanting to get his job with Nepo back. Was that a result if his big fight with Saul?

I agree about the anvil coming for Ahole. He doesn't take Mini and Vilma seriously at all, even though they are both much better plotters than him. And the way he kicked Lupita to the curb was pretty awful. All these women he is scorning are going to come back and bite him in the butt one day.
I was wondering why MA went back to work too. I can't remember exactly how it happened. I think it makes sense that losing Saul's help may have forced him to come up with a different course of action. We'll see what he does when Saul comes back. I hope he sticks with the job and we get to see him do some of that honest hard work he's always going on about.

I wonder if he wanted his old job back just to keep an eye on Nepo, and/or possibly a way to sneak off to see Mini without having to explain his absence to Lupita.
