Que Pobres Tan Ricos #58- 3/27/14: The New Accusation!
Hola Amiguis! Such a fun episode where all the characters have to deal with something? What are these things they have to deal with? Read on and find out!
MA gets a call from Saul who'd like a meet with MA at Cafe Chino, they talk about this on the phone. MA agrees to the meet.
Mini also talks to MA by phone, she still wants to help him and she hears a guy yelling camotes, camotes and asks exactly where is he? MA tells her far, far away from the maddening crowd, well not that, but far, far away. Mini also told him about Ahole accusing MA of sending guys to shoot Ahole, click! MA can't beleive it! It's just one more thing to deal with.
Ahole is witching about his wife, what a traitor. Vilma is now trying to feed him jello, which also isn't reaching his mouth. Ahole can't wait to get rid of Mini and that awful Isela. Vilma thinks she's a good replacement for Mini, uh noes! Ahole insults her once again and no jello for Ahole! She tells him things are in order and he shoos her out, but not before she tells him Bambi called while Ahole was indisposed. Course, Ahole spews more of how inept she is, blah, blah, she starts to go and he says perdoname! He needs her. Vilma is over the moon.
Oh, some new characters you might recongize. The head cop was on PESE, the young male cop from PEAM and the girl cop from UFCS. Anyhoo, they are investigating Bambi's orginization. They have all the evidence they need against Bambi and he's going down!
MA tells Lupe the latest of Ahole's accusations. He can't understand what the hell? Lupe accuses MA of being jealous.
Oh, Leo put up a chandelier in the Penthouse, it's his decorative effort, also the wall is half blue. AS of course loves it. MA gathers all the RPs to let them know the latest on Ahole's accusation. Leo is worried this will compromise his wedding to Maca, but MA gives him hope he tells him that the cops still think he is in Italia.
The Police have arrived at Bambi's place and they are going to take him down. Course he takes a hostage, one of the women, and then scoots out the door. He gets away.
Perla is at the salon and has called a modeling agency but they can't use her, pobrecita! Lupe comes in for a trim and Guendy is acting cagey with her and won't look her in the eye. Lupe asks Guendy why she hasn't been by the Fonda lately. Guendy uses work as an excuse for not coming by. Lupe wants a trim, but Guendy wants to do more for her, riddled with guilt are we Guendy? Lupe wonders if maybe Guendy met a new guy? Ah, nopis that's not it!!!!!! Lupe has gotten her trim and is happy with it. Guendy still won't look at Lupe, but finally does. Guendy tells her the trim is on the house. Lupe reminds Guendy to drop by. Now Guendy looks in the mirror and can barely look at herself and is sad. Perla notices.
Mini and Isela both try to get into Ahole's closet safe with no luck. Mini desperately wants to get in there so she can get proof for MA and viola! she'll have him back. Yeah, right, sure, sure.
Isela and Mini are now in Ahole's home office and Isela is drinking while Mini is looking for the combo to that safe. Isela tells Mini to try to be creative and inventive. Mini finds some numbers and tries the safe again. Mini is still trying to get into that safe and no luck with these numbers either. Mini calls Isela a viper. Mini is gonna work that until it opens y punto.
The Police Chief tells the other two cops they are the best and that Bambi has escaped. They look through a file and inform the PC (Police Chief) that one of the keys to Bambi is Adolfo Giron. He's the main key cause he laundered money for Bambi. They've been looking for Adolfo, but he is a professional criminal and haven't found him. The cops also tell their boss that Ahole's declaration is in the file against MA and the fraud. They think maybe MA is also an accomplice. The cops also see that declaration of Ahole's about MA putting out a "hit" on him.
MA tells the family he needs proof of his innocence and AS wants her champagne she sent to chill in the fridge. Mati wants AS to stop the nonsense and AS says she has dementia. Leo is still worried about the Maca situation and MA tells him no worries. Just marry Maca at the civil registration office in La Nopalera and then celebrate, after the wedding, the reception ya know, at the Fonda! AS goes downstairs to get the champagne and Carmelita is there. Carm would like to try some, but AS not so much, she doesn't want to share with her. Carm says she'll only ever had champagne at Christmas, AS says that champagne should be served in champagne glasses and Noperla surely doesn't have any. Bingo! This is AS's aha moment for an idea. Carm had offered first a plastic glass and then a coffee cup. Hmmmmm.........
Frida hates her cell phone and sees Tizoc doing kung fu. They are nice to each other. She comes into Tizoc's room and he asks if she needs another ride. He says something about being a naco, and I think she pinky swears to be nice to him, she actually pinky swore. He likes that and Mati comes and asks Frida for help with the water, it's cold. Frida will help her and Tizoc and Frida squee at each other instead of whistling.
MA and Lupe meet up in the street and MA wants to see her smile always. He also wants a bit of sugar, but she is afraid someone will gossip about her, there are other peeps on the street and there will be no PDA (Public Displays of Affection) y punto! Instead he goes with her to buy bread. As MA and Lupe come back to the Fonda, Nepo comes in his truck behind them. He is cordial and even thanks MA for his idea about the fruit, Lupe also likes the idea. Nepo tries to invite himself to the Fonda, but Lupe tells him she'll be busy and also has to make Emi his dinner. She reminds Nepo they are just friends. Perla comes and says something about Nepo joining the family soon, and then Lupe makes her go.
Diego was in the car and waits for them to go and goes inside the Fonda and up into the Penthouse to see Leo. It's time for another class, Leo asks where his notebook is. Don't need no notebook, he'll remember everything Leo says. Leo starts and Deigo is all wide eyed and rapt so by the time Leo finishes, Deigo is still rapt. Finally Deigo comes out of it and Leo says he will teach him the essentials of what he needs to know. Leo also wants to know about poetry, music, artistry, the works. Class is over now and Deigo can't wait for the next one, as he stares soulfully into Leo's eyes and is about to ask him something but changes his mind. Deigo goes as Leo stares after him.
Ahole is still recovering of course and Vilma tells him no worries about anything, everything is in order when those cops come for a bit of a visit. Vilma is pithed that they are interrupting Ahole's delicate recovery and the female cop tries to get too close to Ahole and Vilma blocks her path. She informs the cops she is Ahole's lawyer and to leave him alone. They want to know how Ahole knows Bambi! They also ask him about Adolfo and the money laundering along with the fraud. Supposedly according to Ahole there was an investment in El Editorial, by Adolfo and Bambi I think, and MA committed the fraud right along with that. He had gone to London and came back and committed fraud. His own Primo, Miguel Angel Ruiz Palacios, he of his own sangre (blood) betrayed him! Oh, the horror. So the cops say so MA is also an accomplice. Of course Ahole agrees. After the cops go, Saul arrives and would like a bit of a chat too. Course Ahole is trying the same crap on Saul, who isn't buying it. Saul denies that MA ever laundered any lana. Vilma puts a death grip on Ahole's hand so he doesn't go overboard and reminds him of his "delicate" injury. Saul swears he will prove MA's innocence and Ahole's setting this whole bidness up. After Saul goes Ahole calls him an idiot and Vilma reminds Ahole they have a foolproof plan. No one will ever find out!
Perla does her little model strut down the hall and runs into Diego. She is all over him when Don Chuy sees and gives her heck about that and wants her acting like a young, decent young woman and Diego gets to scoot out from under. Don Chuy does the finger eye movement and tells her he will be watching her. Diego goes outside and runs into Nepo. He tells Nepo he was saying hello to Perla and Nepo is sooo liking that!
Isela is on the phone reading numbers to them. I'm not sure if she is buying something with a credit card, or calling for the combo to the safe. Anyhoo, it will happen tomorrow whatever it is. Mini has a sudden thought about Dona Mati and Don A's old address, hmmmmm......

Haven't had much of a chance to comment this week but wanted to take a quick moment to say how much I like the Diego and Leo scenes. Diego's worshipful looks and Leo's slow realization ....fun to see. I'm eager to see more of them together.
I wonder what AS's idea is. Hope it is something worthwhile and not another nasty deed.

Madeleine, thank you for the very fine recap. I do not know how you keep up with the excellent recaps you write every week.
Fun scenes:
Any one with the very stylish DaVinci. Looked like there was some bling n the back of his outfit.
Güendy telling Lupita that she was going to make her look like the protagonist of that great telenovela that is on at 8:00--which is when QPTR is on in Mexico.
Bambi having a donut and milk watching what seemed to be a telenovela being massaged by two of his girls. His easy exit and excape.
AS telling Carmelita that champagne was a luxury only a few could enjoy and that one needed a very refined palette that could tell the difference between caviar and lentils. No drinking vessel less than a champagne glass was going to get Carmelita a taste. AS then says that nobody knows about good manners or etiquette in La Nopalera and she has an idea!
Any scene with Minerva working on the safe combination.
Frida apologizing and telling José Tizoc that she was never going to call him a "naco" again; the pinky swear and Doña Mati's appearance preventing the "kiss."
Lupita having to explain one more time to bullheaded Nepo that she had been straight with him and why would she be telling him where she would be going. (I like how she sticks up for herself.)
Nepo saying good-bye to Perla his "EX sister-in-law" after she makes the comment about Nepo and the family.
The very nuanced and intense conversation between Diego and Leonardo. Leonardo clearly looked "impactado."
Don Chuy getting on Perla's case for being all over Diego and looking like she would eat him up in one bite.
Diego breaking up the interminable Nepo-Lupita-MA scene and the quick exit of Lupita and MA. Diego lying to Nepo and saying he was there to see Perla.
One Question: The way that MA was holding that bag of bread, was there any of it that wasn't crushed to death???

Jarifa you listed all my favorite moments.
I think AS' great idea might be to teach some etiquette classes at the Nopalera since she's noticed that they don't have very good manners (modales) sometimes. Wonder if anyone would be interested though as I'm sure she would not be an easy instructor.
Leo definetely noticed Diego this time and even seemed to get nervous at the way Diego was looking at him. I wonder what Diego was going to tell him before Frida interrupted.
Interesting how Diego waited for the entrance to be clear before he went into the house to see Leo. Perhaps he didn't want to be questioned as to why he was there because he seemed like he was trying to hide.
Also Diego came in his car but when he left he rushed and got into Nepo's car...

Thanks, Madelaine! I only saw the first half of this, but I forgot that I had missed the other half until I read your recap. There was like an hour's worth of stuff just in the first half hour, or at least it felt that way.
Ahole thinks he's soooooo smart. He'll slip up eventually. Especially if he gets malnourished from Vilma keeping food out of his mouth.
Speaking of which, if Isela isn't careful with her wine-drinking, she could be the one to spill all the big secrets to Ahole. Unfortunately, Mini doesn't nag her mother as diligently as Isela nags her.
I laughed at Lupe's trip to the salon. It was nice of Guendy not to charge her, considering she looked EXACTLY the same afterwards. LOL.
I had the same thought as Evelin about AS's "idea." I think she picked the one "talent" that NO ONE would ever pay her for... the talent of condescension. At least, I imagine she's planning to open a charm school or something like that, to teach the young ladies of La Nopalera about "taste" and "sophistication." Her own behavior has been tasteless, and I doubt she'd get any takers, but at least she's thinking about ways to make honest money. (That is, IF that's what her idea was!)

I was really hoping that Ahole would trip himself up with the cops this epi. He is spinning his story around and around, I don't think he will be able to keep it straight, and it's a good thing he has Vilma around. I think the cops will be keeping their eye on him, cause even they smelled something funny with his story ; )

Mads thanks for your recap. Though I grow weary of Alejo having the upper hand his current situation takes all the air out of him. And yes since he is not a genius and can't keep up with his lies, I also think he will do himself in.

Oh, right Karen - Frida offered financial help. But I meant the family's reaction to MA being accused of conspiracy to murder. Leo and AS were complaining that Maca might hear about it and cancel the wedding. I don't remember what, if anything, Frida said about it. But Mati said "How can we help?" and I'm pretty sure she was the only one who expressed concern about how a possible murder rap might be a problem for MA!
I think that once the detectives have gotten to know Ahole, they will decide that shooting his babymaking parts was a public service. It doesn't look good for MA if Vilma and Beto don't talk and the detectives aren't able to deduce the angle and range of the shot. Most likely scenario is that Ahole the idiot will trip himself up in his lies, but it may take some time for MA to be off the hook. Especially since he was, in fact, at the crime scene, and with the trying-to-philander wife of the "victim".
I think Perla may be primed to take AS up on an offer of snotty beeyotch lessons. She might decide that's what she needs to break into modeling.

How great was it to see Oliver Rosales (LldA) back on the beat as a cop? I didn't see UFCS but I recognize his lady partner from somewhere.
How cute was Bambi as he held the gun to the girl's head and said, "Don't come near me or I'll shoot this girl (llevo esta nena a Roma)." and then said to her, "I'm sorry, nena, nothing personal."
Poor Diego is so smitten and both he and Leo are realizing it.

I'd hate to see Perla blow her petite wages on snotty beeyotch lessons, especially when she can observe AS in action for free whenever she wants to. But Perla does seem to have a pretty high resistance for snotty behavior. That is, she doesn't let it hurt her self-esteem.
But on the other hand, I don't think she should tolerate it, either. Maybe that's the real "lesson" she could learn from spending time with AS. (Maybe AS can learn some things from Perla, too, like basing one's self-esteem on something other than money.)
We don't even know that this is AS's plan. But it just seems like exactly the kind of thing she would do. Her least appealing trait is the very thing that she thinks people envy the most.

I haven't actually seen this episode yet, but I'm excited about Ricardo Margaleff and Jackie Garcia. They are two of my favorites. Dare I hope they will become regular characters?
Did Nepo do anything with the fruit? It's just getting more past its prime while he thinks about it! He could always make it into fruitcake. If people are what they eat, there should be a huge demand for it in Telenovelalandia.

Sara, because Guendy and Nepo got drunk and woke up nekkid together at a cheesy hot-sheets motel while Nepo and Lupita were still technically a couple.
You're missing out a little, not having seen that hotel. Tacky as hell. Stripper pole, suggestive art, giant heart-shaped neon lights outside, the works. Guendy loved the place when she first saw it.
I wonder which episode that was. I can watch it on Hulu. The previews for tonight looked pretty good. I might try to watch tomorrow. Again on Hulu. The few times I watch this I am really entertained by it, but I never seem to find the time to watch it.
