De Que Te Quiero Te Quiero #23

De que pierde la dignidad, pierde la dignidad
(Alt title: De que perdió la lucha, perdió la lucha)

It's gonna be wham, bam, thank you ma'am and haphazard. Sorry I just couldn't seem to take notes fast enough tonight. :-(

Alonso advises Diego to postpone the divorce for now. He also tells Diego it's important for her to get help. She needs therapy. And in true novela form he also cautions Diego not to do anything that might upset the delicate flower that is Diana. Dr arrives and says Diana can leave that afternoon.

Nat tells GVB how grateful she is to Diego. She wants to do something for him. GVB thinks a nice gift from her stall.

Alonso arranges for his friend Alvaro (another Al?) to be Diana's therapist. Grumps doesn't think Diana needs therapy. He thinks she needs Diego to be a better husband. He blames Diego and says none of this would have happened if he had been a good husband. Diego says they'll will do what they can for Diana to get better, but he's getting a divorce. He tells Grumps he's postponing the divorce but come hell or high water "De que me divorcio, me divorcio."

Diana comes home. The couple from Tuxpan is there waiting for Grumps.

Natalia bumps into Tadeo while leaving the stall with her gift. GVB recognizes Tadeo from The Tadeo Show Caras. They get his autograph (like he needs any more ego stroking.)

The salary the new owner of the Tuxpan property is offering is too low for Mr and Mrs. Caretaker. Grumps doesn't think that's his problem. Mrs. Caretaker thinks it is and reminds Grumps that they know things and can talk. Pay up or our lips start flappin'. Mr. Carteker looks horrified.

Alonso and Irene are talking about Diego and Diana's marriage. Al was actually kind of surprised they married. In his professional opinion, he thinks Diego married for emotional protection after what happened to Rodrigo (and what exactly happened?) Irene asks if Al has ever been in love. He says he's thinking he feels a little something for someone, but he's afraid to tell the person. Irene wonders if she knows her. Is it someone close to the family?

Grumps tells the Caretaking duo that digging up the past conveniences no one. All he can offer is  a job at the house. Mr Caretaker hustles his wife out of the office.

Lupita and Carmen have some mother daughter time. Lupita prayed for her while she was away and Carmen learned how important her family was to her. Lupita isn't going to get married, Brigitte and Nat can take care of that. BTW, asks Carmen, where does Nat work? (The conversation wasn't that non sequitur-ish. I couldn't take notes fast enough.)

Diana sweet talks Diego. She wants him to stay in their bed tonight. He looks squeamish, but agrees. (Can't upset her, you know.)

The Caretakers (what are their names?) argue. Lala comes in and tells them things are going to be different here. They are to follow Grumps' orders. No questions asked. I can already tell Lala and Mrs. Caretaker are going to butt heads.

Nat worries her mom is still mad. Carmen says she isn't. She will trust Nat on this one. Nat lies about what's in the bag. Carmen looks up Caprico's number after Nat leaves.

Diego comes in to stay with Diana. He won't undress. Long jammie pants and a T-shirt are fine.

Irene wonders who Alonso is in love with and decides it must be Karina.

Meanwhile Al berates himself for being a coward, tarado and bruto. Mumbles something about Tadeo.

Diana begs Diego for some lovin'. He's having none of it. He needs his sleep. Damn, guh. Have some dignity.

The next moring Diana is freshening up her fresh-from-suicide-attempt-fatigue make up. Unfortunately when she comes down to breakfast learns that Diego already went to work so her work was a wasted effort. When Mr Caretaker enters the dining room and asks Irene how she's been it triggers a flashback (Your baby died. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!)

Diego asks Alonso when he can get his divorce. (Fill in anyone, please?)

Irene is very upset the Caretakers are in the house. Everyday she remembers her dead child and their presence just magnifies it. Grumps is really an a$$. His attitude seems to be "just get over it already."

Nat leaves her gift for Diego. Can't decide what to put on the card.

Carmen wants to know what the hell Diego's intentions are. He swears they are honorable and explains how Nat tried to turn down his help but really didn't have much choice but to accept it if she wanted Carmen freed. Carmen swears he's in deep doo doo if he hurts her little girl. She asks him not to say anything to Nat. I think he won her over just a little. She leaves as Albogado drives up. He and Diego can't figure out why the families have their panties in a wad about a mere plantada. Al has brought the divorce agreement.

Grumps and Irene continue to argue. According to Grumps if Irene has stayed with Tiburcio and his wife (ah! there's *his* name) nothing would have happened to the child. She fled because she found out Grumps was going to give it up for adoption since by his decree it would have been better for everyone.

Karina comes to the house. Diana makes bitchy comments about temperamental alcoholics. Diana tells Karina her suicide attempt was a carefully planned strategic maneuver to get Diego back.

Tiburcio tells his wife Irene wasn't happy to see him and she doesn't think they are to blame for what happened. They just did what they were told.

Diego is a little chilly with Natalia. He just can't look her in the eye. He gets the gift but there is no signature on the card. He calls Natalia in. She realizes she forgot to sign the card. It's a big honkin' caracol to remind him of when they met. Diego drops it while he's trying to listen to the sea. NOOO!

Irene goes to a bar and gets drunk. Dammit, girlfriend! You were doing so well!

Diego apologizes and swears he liked the gift. Natalia thinks it was a crummy gift and is embarrassed. She figures he gets  better gifts all the time. She runs to the bathroom to cry.

PJ comes to the Fonda. Carmen tells him she confronted Diego and that he really did seem sincere. (Dammit when will The Great Misunderstanding finally be cleared up?) Eleazar stops by and he and Carmen make googly eyes at each other.

Diego follows Natalia into the bathroom. They are about to make some headway when Diana calls. Natalia makes her escape.

Avances
  • Helmeted mystery man robs the fonda.
  • Tiburcio comes clean about the baby. She's alive!!

Please fill in where needed. I don't know where my brain was tonight.

I am really upset by Irene's relapse.

Thanks for the recap Sara. When Diego was talking to Alonso about when he can proceed with his divorce, Alonso gave that non answer of when she's more stable. Since she's never been stable, poor Diego will be stuck until the writers relieve him of his loca.

I too was upset by Irene's relapse but her confrontation w/her horrible father (after her two zingers from the other day) would have driven non alcoholics to drink or to their drug of choice. First he tells her to get over the servants being a reminder of her imprisonment during her pregnancy. Then he blames Irene for her child's death; that was just evil!! Maybe he'll have to get a new heart and become a new person.

The writers are really milking this Great Misunderstanding. And now the dance of Diego's delayed divorce. Can we please have Carmen and Eleazar move towards one another?

Oh and your titles are great too.

Sara, fabulous (my heavens - well written and not in the least bit haphazard!) Gracias!

"They get his autograph (like he needs any more ego stroking.)" and "The next morning Diana is freshening up her fresh-from-suicide-attempt-fatigue make up.
" were among my many favorites.

I agree with mi amiga Karen that a saint would have ran for their vice of choice after what Irene has endured. What a vicious, vile father.

And, speaking of Carmen and Eleazar, why did Carmen pull her hand back when Eleazar attempted to hold it? She is clearly afraid. Afraid of love? rejection? all of the above?

I have a small confession. I have not been a huge fan of the actor playing Diego, but I think his acting is improving. In the beginning, I kept wondering what someone like Eugenio Siller might have done with the role. Perhaps that was unfair. I am willing to give him a chance. I also just notices he has extraordinary eyelashes. Not that that has anything to do with it...

Thanks again Sara!

Diana

I hadn't noticed, but I will be watching out for those eyelashes!

I thought the actor who plays Diego was quite slimy as Greasy Yago in Amor Bravio.

And, speaking of Carmen and Eleazar, why did Carmen pull her hand back when Eleazar attempted to hold it? She is clearly afraid. Afraid of love? rejection? all of the above?

I think so. I think Carmen is on the "All men are dogs" trip. She picks these losers, falls in love with them, has their babies, they dump her, she goes on the "All men are dogs" trip.

But, there is a divine plan. IMO Carmen HAS to go through all the "dogs" in order to appreciate Eleazar, who is clearly too shy/scared/intimidated to just take the bull by the horns and declare himself to Carmen. I don't think she would've appreciated him when she was younger. El is not a take charge guy when it comes to love and I think that's something Carmen is attracted to. Once Eleazar starts to incorporate more of his "take chargeness" on the job in his love life, Carmen will start to fall for him.

BUT, she may be scared of messing up a good friendship if she goes there. If Carmen gives even a hint of a chance with her, Eleazar won't think twice about messing up the friendship.

Alonso also needs to declare himself to Irene (and refer her to another doctor ASAP). He's got Irene thinking he's in love with silly Karina. LOL

Yay! Gracias, Sara :D Loved "recognizes Tadeo from The Tadeo Show"...he's an artist! How often do we recognize artists on sight? And when do Angela and Natalia, of all people have time to watch TV?

The hilarious thing is that Mrs. Caretaker wants to stick it to Grumps, saying they have valuable blackmail info, but it's really her husband who has the juicy stuff. I'm glad we're moving along at a decent clip with the reveals. Except for Rodrigo.

When Diego asked Alonso about the divorce, he was begging for a timeline, complaining about how she was all over him last night and Alonso told him it doesn't work that way, you can't put a date on recovery.

Pobre Irene! Just because Grumps has no heart, he assumes everyone else would be better off without one. I agree, his attitude was pretty much "get over it." Jackass!

Anon, I like your take on the eventual development of Carmen and Eleazar's romance.

Am hoping it happens sooner than later though.

Diana

Thanks for filling in the details of the Diego/Alonso/divorce conversation my friends!

I'm also pleased at how relatively fast things are revealed/resolved (The Great Misunderstanding not withstanding.) I hope that keeps up.

Tks so much Sara, perfecta.

I like Juan Diego Covarrubias & believe he has a lot of promise & I need to ck out his eyelashes. He has some cute expressions. We'll see how he does with Rodrigo. He won TV y Novelas award for best actor. Of course that is not saying much since they didn't even nominate Silvia Navarro for Amor Bravio & La LLorana, Ruffo won (I know, I know, get over it).

I haven't seen Eugenio Siller but his looks don't do a thing for me. I have a hard time distinguishing him from Sebastian Zurita.

I was so upset by Grumps treatment of Irene, no wonder she drinks. I had to go get a tequila & join her. Wait 'til she finds out the worse thing he did to her.

I am not impressed by this galan. I am focusing on Marcelo (Eleazer) ,and I think the lawyer is a cutie. ..time those shoulders.

Anon ..Your analysis of the Carmen/ Eleazer relationship was excellent. You made so many good points.

I guess Irene will be taking two steps forward and one step back in her recovery which is probably pretty realistic.

Ay! Poor Irene! She should stay in D.F., but move out of the family home. Maybe there's another apt in Alonso and El's building?

I think Papa Juancho and El's mom are going to have to give Carm and El a push for one of them to finally make a romantic play for the other. I agree with the analysis of why Carm might be afraid to take that leap with El. But I don't think she has a down on men attitude. She has been quite open to love and letting new love (a new man) into her life despite past heartbreak, until now. This Carlouse and jail experience has really shaken her to her core, I think. Mainly because it took her away from her children, who are the most important in her life.

Loved the scene with Carm and Lupita-- last night or the night before. I kept thinking, this little actress struck gold this time with her tn mom, versus in her last tn, Refugio Para El Amor, when she had a nightmare mother Gala/Jessica Coch!

Nat did look lovely in the yellow dress, as Diego pointed out. Notice, he was wearing a yellow tie. I noticed a few episodes back that his tie matched her dress. I wonder if wardrobe/direction i doing that on purpose?

Vivi...I am laughing at your comment about the matching colors. My daughter thinks that it is very funny when hub and I inadvertently wear the same colors. Once, she noticed as we met her at the airport, and she had to snap our picture. Maybe it just happens when you are together for awhile. In this novela, it probably foreshadows that these two are soulmates on the same psychic wavelength.

Aww! Susanlynn, I bet you and your hubby are adorable in your matching outfits. :) Every time you mention him, he sounds like such a sweetie.

OOOO. I'm going to have to start paying close attention to Nat's dresses and Diego's ties!

Vivi...He is a big sweetie. I got very lucky when I ended up with him. Before I met him , I had dated others who were not quite as nice. He is definitely galan material. He not only takes care of me, but he has helped me take care of our daughters, our parents, and now our granddaughters. He can change diapers , give bottles , and kiss booboos. As for dressing in the same colors, it just happens accidentally, but our daughters think that it is very funny.

I think you will enjoy these old photos of novela actors

Variopita- That's a great selection of pics of some of our tn favorite actors. You should share it on the other Uni tn lines too.

Love the pic of Daniela Romo. I've seen it before, but it highlights just how beautiful she was, and still is so many decades later.

Variopinta- Sorry for the typo.

Thank you Variopinta!
I especially liked the one of Daniela Romo.

I think Daniela Romo is great, tough lady after the bout with cancer. I'm glad that long hair is gone though.

There is my telenovio FC, my avatar.
he is #1, #2 Cristian del la Fuentes, #3 Marcelo.

I bet Salma Hayek was a much better Teresa than Angelique Boyer.
