Lo Que La Vida Me Robo 117 - Time Jump! We Just Gained Half a Decade and Fabiola Still has Bad Hair - 4/24/14

Amalia Has Juice With the King of Darkness

Amalia admits to Pedro that she used to doubt Alejandro’s character. He appeared out of nowhere and then he was Benjamin’s heir. Of course she doubted him, but Joaquin came to speak of Alejandro as a great man.

Pedro plants the idea in Amelia’s mind that Joaquin began to speak well of Ale after they went into business together. Amalia says she, knows nothing. She was married to a man for years that hoodwinked her. Now she reiterates her dismay at finding that Joaquin did attend Angelica’s wedding to Jose Luis, but secretly, with a plan to assassinate his son-in-law at the alter. What kind of a monster did she marry? Pedro fuels her distress by eying that Alejandro was doing Joaquin’s dirty works when, later, on the beach he shot and tried till kill JL in their ill-fated duel. Pedro opines that life is fair, in the end. Alejandro and Joaquin both got what was coming to them.

Now that Angelica is dead, Amelia’s reason for living is gone. It sounds like she needs to figure out who she is. Hopefully she will remember that she still has another kid to come into relationship with, suggests Pedro. This is the first piece of good advice I have heard him offer on the show.

He takes Amelia’s hand, and complains about his own terrible loss of Nadia and the child.

Graciela Thinks Tiny Deep Thoughts

“Ungrateful little shite-heads,” thought bubbles Graciela Mendoza about her offspring Dimitrio and Montserrat. She remembers Dimitrio saying that neither of them wants to live with their loving mother. “After all that I have sacrificed for the pair of them…” Graciela hesitates here, unable to bring any recent examples of her martyrdom to mind. She remembers her conversation with Jose Luis in the Hospital and that she took Ale’s cell phone from JL. She decides that she is glad Alejandro is dead. All her troubles started when Alejandro came into her life. Uh huh.

Dimitrio sits in the Mendoza garden and thinks of his last conversation with his wife. Josefina dumped Dimitrio with an impassioned gracias to Dimmy and hasta nunca. She took off to find herself. Carlota finds him and imagines that he is thinking about and missing Josefina. She warns him not to harden his heart again. He denies he is doing this and tells his aunt that she has been watching too many sentimental telenovelas and reading too many magazines. EZ Basurto approached Carlota and they embrace as Dimitrio advices his Tio-to-be to keep Carlota from getting too cheesy.

Refugio Visits Jose Luis In Prison

Refugio muses to Jose Luis that they did not even know if Alejandro was the real son of Benja-monte or if he was an imposter all of the time.

Jose Luis does not know what to think. Loreto once told JL that Ale was an imposter but JL just took this as Loreto’s bad talk. Alejandro told JL that he needed to flee, that he was being accused of killing his own father. Refu wants to know why Ale did not flee before, when he had the chance? Refu thinks Ale was innocent of the whole Arechiga drug thing, but that he decided to flee Aguazul now because he was guilty of murdering his putative father. Jose Luis worries, as always, about what will happen to Montserrat. Refu thinks that with all of the gossip going around in Aguazul, the Mendoza’s (I guess he means Graciela here) must be regretting that Montserrat did not marry Jose Luis in the first place.

Refu wants to know if, now that they are both single again, JL will try to reconnect with Montserrat. He says Montserrat will not wait for him. They debate this. JL doesn’t want to talk about it until he is free, out of jail.

Montserrat Weeps and Remembers

Montserrat lies alone in her bed next to her the fatherless, Laurito and grieves Alejandro’s loss. She tells Lauro not to believe the bad things people say about his dad. He worked hard and got his degree but all really wanted was to have his family by his side. Montserrat remembers Alejandro to his son as “The best of all men.”

Graciela Gloats

Graciela replays the message that Alejandro left for Montserrat in which he exonerated JL of any wrong doing and begged her to trust Jose Luis. She smiles grimly as she replays the video. I don’t think Montserrat is going to see that message from Ale now or perhaps ever.

Years Pass

A sleeping Montserrat wakes up as a little boy runs into her room. “Mama, Mama, wake up!” he cries. They wrestle and giggle and Rosario comes in to say that she will get little Laurito off to school because Montse has to go to work. Laurito wears big glasses that seem too large for his small frame.

We notice that Montserrat’s hair has a few more layers cut into it; otherwise she looks exactly the same. Time is so kind to the young.

Montserrat picks up a photo of Ale and tells him that she misses him so much.

The Down-At-Heels Mendoza Mansion Is Sold To The Only Bidder

Carlota pays a call on her sister-in-law, whose hair has now been straightened. The old Mendoza is mansion is covered in dust but Gracie is still paying for her beauty treatments. In other words, she looks the same.

Carlota scolds her about the condition of the house. Graciela wants a loan, she is desperate for cash and has already hawked all her jewels. Carlota says that if Gracie needs money, she should sell the old Mendoza family mansion to Carlota.

Graciela agrees to the deal as long as she can live in the house for as long as she wants. Carlota gives her the gossip that the hated Fabiola Guillen in back in town. Carlota cannot believe she dares to show her face in Aguazul when she has done so much to hurt Montserrat and Alejandro of the blessed memory.

Gracie still spews venom about Ale. She hates Alejandro and believes him to not be in heaven as Carlota indicated but below with the bugs and worms. I’d have to vote for Davy Jones’ locker as my best guess for where Alejandro now abides, may he rest in peace.

Montserrat and Dimitrio's Place

Montserrat runs into her extremely handsome brother Dimitrio, now a Lt. in the Mexican Navy. He is off to do some big job at the base and when Montse asks about his day, he tells her that the operation is so secret that if he told her about it he would have to kill her. The siblings laugh and joke about Dimitrio’s innumerable girlfriends. Montse is thinking about Alejandro, She thinks Dimitrio is still pining for Josefina after all these years.

Dimitrio tells her that Jose Luis Alvarez gets out of jail, today.

We see more product placement for the Toyota Tundra. Surprisingly, the Toyota Tundra in the fast-forward Aguazul (I am guessing some six years have passed based on Laurito being a big boy in school now) looks exactly the same as the models we saw 6 years ago. Those Toyota auto designers had better get on the ball, hadn’t they?

Refu and Esme

Esme waddles into the sala at her house. She is quite pregnant. Refu is now a Lt. just like Dim and Capitan Monica has come by the house to pick up Refu and then Dimitrio to go out on some special operation.

Lt. Monica remarks that Esme looks ready to drop the little Refu right there and then. Esme says, no, she is just six months along and had gained a bit of weight. Lt Monica advises Esme to get off her butt and exercise and stop eating bon bons and reading magazines all day. I do not know how Esmeralda should have responded to this passive aggressive and supercilious comment from Lt. Monica. I guess the Mexican Navy would frown on an officer’s wife bitch slapping his uppity boss into next week.

Refu had earlier referred to his wife as ‘La Gordita’. If I could wave a magic wand, people would immediately realize how unfunny and unwelcome fat comments are to pregnant women. If my partner referred to me as ‘Gordita’ when I was in the waddling stage of pregnancy, I would be very tempted to announce that I had developed a sudden and intense allergic reaction to baby poop. Oh, NO! Refugio, modern man that he is, will need to change ALL the baby’s diapers when he is home, and to hire a nanny to change them when he is out on special operations with his great looking boss. Oh, well. Sh!# happens, as they say. It’s funny how things work out.

Almonte Mansion By the Sea

Fabiola strolls into Alejandro’s former house and is greeted by an unctuous maid who is carrying a large pour of Fabi’s favorite red wine in a glass. Fabiola starts drinking.

Amalia comes in and greets her goddaughter after a five-year absence. Fabi’s hair looks worse than ever. She thanks Amalia for taking care of the house for her and she congratulates Amalia on her marriage. But she was surprised that Amalia remarried so SOON after Angelica died.

Fabiola is back because Jose Luis is getting out of jail today. Amalia says he has changed but Fabs expected that. Jail changes people!

Montserrat’s Business

Dominga and Macario are running a fancy little espresso café and bakery that Montserrat helped opened. They are very grateful to have the jobs as they were left high and dry when Alejandro died. After Macario makes Montse an espresso she comments that what is most important is that they are all still together, taking care of one another, just as Alejandro would have wanted.

Esme Thinks She Is Fat

As Esme munches some high-carb confection she complains bitterly to Zulema that she is a globe, a balloon. Girlfriend says, just wait till you see the little bundle of joy, it will all be worth it!

But Esme sighs as she takes another large bite and comments on seeing Lt. Monica this morning, so beautiful and skinny. Refu never kisses her on the lips anymore.

Meanwhile, just Monica, Refu and Dimitrio are on an operation to bring down some bad guy called the “Scorpion”.  The three blow the door of some warehouse and go in commando style, guns leading. The warehouse is empty. Someone ratted out the Navy.

Adolfo Is Now A Full Blown Narcotraficante

In another dark building, a man is tied to a chair and his face and body are bloody. He claims that he is not a rat. Adolfo walks into the room, and speaks with the voice of reason, why the man is being treated so badly? He offers the prisoner a glass of water. Adolfo plays good cop. The man says he did not tell the navy that the shipment would be here today. He does not even know who Adolfo is. All he notes is that in the Norte, they say that the Scorpion has no mercy.

Adolfo, identifies himself as the Scorpion, agrees that he has no mercy, and shoots and kills the man tied up in the chair. He tells his confederates to put out the word about the Scorpion and how he behaves.

Good Evening, My Friends:

Welcome to our Robo Reboot. It seems at least a half a decade has past, more or less. We saw nothing of Ale, although I am sure he is living somewhere with a bad case of amnesia or something.

No sign of Victor or Nadia either. We also were not told about who Amalia married. I presume that she married Pedro because there is no one else eligible, but why would she keep his secrets for him?

I hope all my friends in Caray Caray land are doing well. I have been and will be a bit swamped for the next few weeks, but the show has to go on, doesn't it?

All kind thoughts for the June family as we find ourselves somewhere to live and get moved are gratefully accepted.

Elna June

Hello and thank you Elna June for this fast but detailed recap! I just watched the epi here on the west coast and I think you captured everything!

I have to say I am very sad about the turn this novela is taking. I expected that Monse and JL would be pushed back together but I never expected so much time to go by. And no Padre! I refuse to believe EZ killed him but where has he been? Does he know Ale is gone?
I didn't mind yesterday's time jump of 3 months too much and thought maybe we'd jump ahead a few more months but 5-6 years? If Ale does end up returning which is of course what I'm still holding out hope for, he will have missed so much of his son's life. That's so sad but I guess that's why this TN is appropriately titled.

Don't care too much about Adolfito turning to the dark side, can't stand his character. Can't wait to see what BSC Maria has been up to! Lol

Elna June, a bundle of thanks for your hilarious highlights. At least this big ol' time jump keeps the tedium to a minimum.

(A special thanks for your devotion as you struggle with finding a place in which to live.)

Blaaarghhh! If Amalia married Pedro, I think I'll be sick. Was Virginia just cut adrift or what? How does Pedro explain to Amalia that he never asks her to "comfort" his loneliness?

So are we to assume Carlota and EZ are now married? If I were Carlota, I'd refuse to let Graci live in the same house.

Don't like the glasses on Laurito. They make him look like a mini-Pedro. As far as looks go, Lt. Dimitrio looks muy, pero muy, guapo!

So now we see Fofito has turned stone cold killer. More or less. Had to chuckle at Esme great with child and waddling. That'll keep her off the pole at the club.

With JL almost free, we seem to have set the stage for the next round of coupling/uncoupling, etc. I'm going to look into soothing potions to help me make it through.

Oh and did Amelia marry Pedo? It certainly seemed likely but interesting that she didn't mention his name to Fabiola. I wonder if Pedo treats her the same way he treated Nadia? Poor Amelia.

I hope Ale returns soon. I don't want to see JL and Mons hookup. Not fair for JL to lose her again.

Surprised Fab didnt blow through her inheritance. Or was swindled out if it.

I actually thought "whoa" when I saw Dim after the time jump. All together yummy.

Nanette

Brilliant recap of a whiplashy episode. Thanks mucho.

Amelia seemed way too serene to be suffering the same kind of marriage Nadia had with Pedro. Maybe he is drugging her? Got her hooked on his product? Or it's possible that she married someone else, but Pedro was so strongly hinted.

What a fancy bakery. Yay, Montse finally took charge of her own life, although it sounds like she is still a princess who doesn't do the labor herself, or get up and take care of her son in the morning either. At least she isn't letting her mother steal all her money.

Dim was smokin' hot. Can't believe Fina stayed away so long. I am looking forward to seeing her again.

Teniente Tightass needs a good swift kick or ten. What a beeyotch.

Maybe Pedro is no longer the Big Bad. Maybe it's Alpo, now (I don't mean that I think Pedro is no longer bad, just no longer the Big Bad--he certainly never shot anyone, let alone so cold-bloodedly, like A.)

Elna June:

Marvelous recap, simply marvelous and good luck and wishes for your move.

I too like that Monse has taken charge of her life without Graceless! Yay! The shop looks as if it is doing well and using Dominga's recipes. I liked the little espresso that Mac made for Monse too cute. I agree about little Laurito's glasses. They are way too big for his face, but he is so cute.

Fablush hasn't changed one bit with the time jump and I wonder where Sandho went! I'm surprised he wasn't with her. And she thinks she will get JL? Que??? She must be smoking Pedho's product to go along with all that wine she drinks!

I think with this time jump, Tia Lottie is already married to EZ and I too think Amelia married Pedho, I wonder if he has told her his secret, no ballz!

Dim has turned into one fine man, I agree La Paloma!

Now I am still liking Lt Monica, she is a take charge woman, but she needs to be a bit more diplomatic when it comes to speaking with the officer's wives. It would have done Esme no favors if she had socked El Capitana.

Oh, noes, Fofito has become a stone cold killer. Maybe there came a point when it was kill or be killed and he chose to live. I hope they show us flashbacks to how some of the characters ended up the way they did.

I am glad Tia Lottie is buying back the family home, but I wouldn't have allowed Graceless to stay there. Maybe Tia Lottie will have some "work" for Graceless to do. Jus' sayin' ;

Thanks again Elna June for this fabulous recap in the midst of a move.

Elna June,
Thanks for the detailed recap, and for putting it up so quickly. I wish you the best in your search for a new home. It can be frustrating, just remember that your CarayCaray family is here for virtual support. Sending positive vibrations your way. (((((()))))))).

I knew there would be a time jump, but I am disappointed that Ale has missed so much of Laurito's upbringing. I wad glad to see that Rosario was still with Montse along with Dimi. Thank God they weren't with Gracie. And finally Montse works! I know she's not doing physical labor, but she seems to be doing well, and most importantly making it on her own and away from her mother. I was happy to see Mac and Dominga too. I wonder if they got married.

Dimi was looking pretty good. When they were on that secret mission, I thought to myself "who is that hottie with the sunglasses?" OMG, it's Dimi.

I can't believe Amelia seems to have forgotten about Virginia, and married Pervy!!

I am very anxious to find out what has happened with Nadia and Vic. I hope the writers don't drag this out for too long. Ale needs to come back, or we, as the viewers, need to know where he's been for 6 years. If JL tries to win back Montse, you know Gracie will go after JL's money. Also, it seems as though Montse still loves Ale. Does JL even stand a chance?

Thanks again Elna June! Good luck house hunting!

Off to sleep...hasta pronto!

Thanks, Elna June, for a speedy and great recap. Good luck in your house hunting!

I found the first half rather boring (just more of the same old same old) so I was very happy with the time jump of a good amount of time. What fun!

My favorite scene was Carlota (all the time preoccupied with her cell phone) complaining to Graciela about how dusty her house was, turning her down for a loan, telling her to get a job and agreeing to buy the house. It looks like she is happily married Ezequiel.

Well, JL is getting out of jail so we all know where this is going. Lol

Jarifa

Ah Elna June, forget all these military types, you're MY idea of a hero. Still writing these clever recaps for the Patio while struggling with preparing a house for sale (please, God!) and looking for a new place to live.

The last time I did this, I was 47. Not sure how well I would face it at 74,(my age, not yours!) although frankly, our house is way too big for us now and filled with years of Wretched Excess.

I loved "tiny deep thoughts". Yep, that's our Graciela. No philosopher, she. And the wonderful sarcasm....Montserat looks exactly the same. "Time is so kind to the young." Yeah, helps when the 7-year jump is actually only about 7 minutes. Or 7 days, tops.

Well, we're in full Extension Blues. I have checked out of this one emotionally--they've messed with it too much--but will always look forward to the recaps and the comments.

Elna June...Sending up and out good thoughts that the Universe knows exactly who should live in your house and will bring them there. And It also knows just exactly where you and your husband should dwell next, and will make that clear. Was it Einstein who said the Universe was friendly? Let's hope so!

Your title was perfect! ! With this time jump Fab-lush should have a red face and a huge liver, but at least should have gotten a better hair cut.

Loved: Graciela Thinks Tiny Deep Thoughts
“Ungrateful little shite-heads,” thought bubbles Graciela Mendoza about her offspring Dimitrio and Montserrat. “After all that I have sacrificed for the pair of them…” Graciela hesitates here, unable to bring any recent examples of her martyrdom to mind.--This is priceless.

I'm just surprised that they felt a time jump was needed for the story, when they have 3-4 months left. What do they call it now, Ultimas Meses instead of Ultimas Semanas?

So true that time is kind to the young. Even the Toyota Tundra.

I hope Lt. Monica marries one of the other officers (not Refugio) and promptly gets pregnant and gains 50 lbs the first 3 months. Then I want Esme to be patronizing with her advice, "eat a little less and walk more."
Loved your consequences for Refugio, who clearly deserves to be the one to observe all the stages of transitional meconium.

Good luck with everything you have to do, EJ; wonderful recap!

Dearest Elna June,

All best with your move! I can imagine this is a stressful time, so a especially huge thanks for giving us such a marvelous recap. Yours are always amazing, but this one was particularly hysterical.

I LOVED these observations in particular:
"Hopefully she will remember that she still has another kid to come into relationship with, suggests Pedro. This is the first piece of good advice I have heard him offer on the show."

"We notice that Montserrat’s hair has a few more layers cut into it; otherwise she looks exactly the same. Time is so kind to the young."

"Graciela Thinks Tiny Deep Thoughts"

I didn't even get to see the episode since I was out late last night for another work-related thing. I have only two weeks until the end of my semester, so there is stuff going on constantly. But after reading this thorough and delightful recap, I don't even feel the need.

Glad to hear that DIM has grown more handsome after the time jump. Will look forward to seeing him tonight.

Thanks again, Elna June, and also all good thoughts to you as you try to find your new home.

Julia R

Judy B-am always so glad that there are recappers of all ages, always thought I was probably older than the rest of the Patio crowd-but it seems we are a variety of ages and cultures. We're a nice bunch.

Good work, Elna June, and in the middle of moving, no less.

Glad to see Dominga is with Monserrat and that the business is successful. Not happy to see Barbie Pink all over the place, though. Monserrat is not stupid nor is she weak and the whole pink thing makes me think of silly girls who need to be protected.

Adolfo may have decided to adapt or die, but I don't like the turn he took. He should have just stolen all the money in Pedro's safe and run for it to Brazil. Of course this whole second half would be different or not exist if he did that because he could have arranged to meet Alejandro somewhere else to hand over the will to him.

We don't know what's up with Maria, but I find it impossible to believe that she could be in hiding under Pedro's nose for six years (which would be the sum total by now) or that Esmeralda has put up with her all that time. However, if she managed it Pedro's reaction when he finds out will be priceless.

As for Pedro I will be more than disappointed in Amalia if she married him. How would he be able to hide his secret from her, anyway? Nadia -- as dim as she is -- forced it out of him after being married to him for nearly two years. I can't imagine Amalia not doing so after suffering years of being married to Joaquin with his secrets.

Virginia likely went away to college. Happily, all things considered.

Gracie continues to be the same selfish bitch. I hope Monserrat doesn't live anywhere near her.

Emarie...Yep, I'm not only the oldest recapper (currently on hiatus), I'm sure I'm the oldest aerobics teacher...in town anyway. Although I understand that there have been some exercise teachers in their 80's, God love 'em. "Never give up, never give in!"

Elna June: Sending you much support and comforting hugs as you find your new place to live. Moving is such a challenge - I hope the process goes as smoothly as possible. Needless to say, I am all the more grateful for your generous time with so much going on in your life.

I am always so thrilled with your captions I read them all right away "Amalia Has Juice with the King of Darkness" and Graciela Thinks Tiny Deep Thoughts" were marvelous.

“Graciela hesitates here, unable to bring any recent examples of her martyrdom to mind”, "Time is so kind to the young" and "I guess the Mexican Navy would frown on an officer’s wife bitch slapping his uppity boss into next week" were some of my favorites. As always, you artfully mix creativity and humor with amazing, satisfying results. Loved the recap.

I am still trying to come to terms this is not Amor Real. I am unfamiliar with the other TN this was fashioned after so I'm still digesting the latest turn of events.

I'm assuming Ale is alive with amnesia and that Victor and Nadia are dead. I fear that was the padre's fate as well.

I sincerely hope the plot does not involve JL and Monse getting back together! Hasn't the man been through enough? He already lost Monse once as well as the woman who was the real love of his life (we realize this although he may not). I do not want them together to have Monse run back to Ale the moment he resurfaces. Sigh...

Like everyone who commented, could Amalia really have married Pedro?? Perish the thought.

While I shamelessly enjoyed Carlota lording her wealth and power over Graciela, I was saddened by the fact she has no idea she is married to a vile murderer.

And Adolfo! I was flabbergasted at the monster he has become. I never saw or imagined that coming.

So happy to see Esme pregnant! Although the Lt. was her usual charming self. Agree Emarie "hope Lt. Monica marries one of the other officers (not Refugio) and promptly gets pregnant and gains 50 lbs the first 3 months. Then I want Esme to be patronizing with her advice, "eat a little less and walk more." That would be great!

Don't think the writers need to continue to show us Fabiola swooning over and guzzling her wine. Yes, we get it. Fab likes to drink. And yes, the hair is bad - even worse than before (if possible).

Madelaine, thanks for the reminder! Exactly where is Sandho?

Nanette, you said it best: "I actually thought "whoa" when I saw Dim after the time jump. All together yummy". Exactly!!!! It's high time Fina reappears!

Elna June, wishing you the very best and will be sending good thoughts and prayers your way. Thank you again for this superb summary.

Diana

EJ - I send my most sincere positive vibes to you and yours. Moving is admittedly not anything I enjoy either, even when I'm excited about the move (which has only been twice in my many decades long life). As you say, there's always the excess to deal with, the packing, etc. But I have every faith you will find that place that sings to you when you walk in and a new comfort and enjoyment once you settle in. <<<>>>

As for your recap, wonderful as always. And you pretty much expressed what I was feeling watching. I expected a time jump, but 5-6 years already? I guess we had to get JL out of jail to be able to move the story forward, so voila!

Oh my did Dim look good last night. SO happy that he is one character who didn't turn in the opposite direction of where they were headed. He's my hero!

As for Refugio--jackass. Did they overdo the schlep factor with Esme? yeah a bit. If she and Monse were friends, maybe the one good have given her some tips that trying to look good and enjoy the experience made it go better. But he could show a bit more understanding and that peck on the cheek? Idiot.

My theory, and I could be way off base, but when her Navy highness was all put out they lost the Scorpion because of a mole--that mole is either EZ or it's her. Something about her has always made me not trust her. Until we get her backstory, she's high on my list of a planted bad guy.

I had a feeling that Adolfo would go bad...what did he have to lose, is what I'm guessing he's feeling. All emotion was switched off with Nadia's supposed death. As his reputation grows, will he gain the strength to take Pedo down.

Speaking of whom, yep, betcha he married Amelia. Honestly. And another woman who starts with the 'I have no purpose" when she has a daughter who needs her. I can't wait to see how that tween turned out. Her demeanor with that B**** Fabs (who's hair is a whole 'nother animal) was odd. What was with the soft spoken, rather stiff movements? Just something I picked up on...is she hiding her disappointment over Pedo?

That little shop was a but much for me with all the pink, but a good idea and very much a Monse inspired place. Good for those three!! And Carlota seems like a grand dame, so looks like marriage agrees with her (maybe EZ really does love her) and he must be doing really well if they can buy the manse. So either he's the mayor, Pedo finally made governor, or EZ is going the Joaquin route with ill gotten gains and Carlota doesn't have a clue. We shall see I guess.

So are we suppose to take the dead chickens as a sign that the Padre did indeed die? That stinks! Still not buying it yet. Not looking forward to Maria, and is Robledo still around?

If it's that far in the future---I want FINA!!!! And my guess is we see what happened to Ale and the gang tonight or tomorrow. I'm holding out hope for all three making it somehow.

Daisynjay

There was a long separation in AR during a war. Part of that was about Manuel questioning whether the child (also a boy) was his. With no war in this story there needs to be something else.

I doubt we'll suffer too much longer over whether Alejandro is still alive; he has to be. Mexican viewers would never forgive Televisa if they wrote him out of this tale.

I am worried about the Padre now, but I'm sure the writers intend for us to do that.

((((Elna June)))...I agree with our Judyb. You are the hero...providing us with this recap while preparing for a move. Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers as you get ready for the move and that I am sending out lots of good vibrations)))))))))))))))))))))))

In addition to watching our grand girls every weekday as usual, we have them this weekend because our daughter is at a conference. So I am enjoying relaxing a bit and reading comments and your excellent recap while the three-year-old naps.

I was surprised by the leap into the future. Mony looked more casual and relaxed in her hot pink top and long green skirt. I would wear that outfit...I like colorful and comfy clothes. She is now Princess of the Cupcakes.

I envied Amelia's backyard. What beautiful palm trees. I wonder if she is married to Ped, and if she is, has she noticed something is ...missing ??? Is it just a marriage of convenience...and if so, convenient for whom ? Where is Virginia?

Carlos, is there a procedure to surgically remove that wineglass from Fabulush's hand? I think her hair got worse, and I cannot believe that is possible.

Dim look so much hotter and handsomer with the shorter hair....more masculine.

Gracie looks rough.

And Esme is great with child and enduring that annoying woman's comments. Que lastima.

This great leap forward does nothing for me.

These seven years have shown that the bad guys have cemented their standing; they are in complete control of Aguazul. The good guys are dead, missing, scattered or impoverished.

Don't like that wimpy-looking Laurito. I thought he would look more like that horse-faced kid they showed in that recent flashback with Maria and Juventino “El Cepillador”.

Good to see ghastly Gracie living in squalor.

It's time for the peanut gallery to stop hating on LT. Renteria. She was smack in the line of fire in last night’s raid, wearing sensible shoes as well!

EJ: Thanks for the recap. Really appreciate it since you’ve got so much going on.

Daisy: I thought the same thing about the Lt. I think she’s the baddie in the navy.

I get why Esme is upset. After all, for a long time she made money out of how she looked. I still was a little bit disappointed by her reaction to having the love of her life’s baby. But I don’t have kids, so really have no room to talk. If she’s that big at six months, maybe she’s having twins.

I thought Fina might come back with a boyfriend and have a Dim/Fina/Boyfriend triangle. Now I’m wondering if Virgie won’t be a serious threat. I also think five/six years is a long time to “find yourself”. I can see a year, maybe 18 months, but not five/six.

Horrible thought. What if Dim is the baddie NOOOOOOOOOO?! What if he’s in cahoots with Alpo?! NOOOOOOOOOOO!

Nanette

Look writers, I'm superficial in my choices of which TN's I watch. I look for Ruli, Soto, Arenas, Zapeda, or Gill to provide the eye candy. If they have removed Ruli until the end, I am only reading the recaps.
Such a mess! And for the men Lt Rentiera should float their boat.
Signed
Shallow

Elna June - Love the title and the whole recap. You are a trooper to render us fabulous recaps amidst the upheaval of finding a new home. I know you will find the perfect place and adore it.

I've got to speak up for my doofus Refugio. He's calling Esme "gordita" with affection. My Mexican friend calls her son "gordito" and she's a great mom. Of course I would never call him that. It's a cultural divide thing. On pecking Esme on the forehead, Refugio calls himself protecting their baby. Their kisses always use to turn into full-body contact and he wants to avoid boinking cause he thinks it would upset the baby.

As for Monica, "beyotch!" Aside from the house dress cerca 1960, Esme looked fabulous.

So Ale must either be in a coma, have amnesia, or been forced into slave labor somewhere. Agree it isn't looking good for Padre Anselmo, Nadia, or Victor.

Got my fingers crossed that Amelia married somebody, anybody, other than Pedro.

First off EJ, I wish you well with your move. I recently moved cross country and I know it's a hassle, but new beginnings are things to look forward to! May all go smoothly for you. Many thanks for writing this excellent recap amidst all you're doing.

I have to say, I'm not sure I can bring myself to watch right now. I HATE this part of TN's! I watched last night in fast forward and thought, that's it, I don't want to see it. I don't want to watch the whole JL-Montse thing start up, and, as someone said yesterday (sorry that I can't recall who), I'm having visions of Amor Bravio all over again. Not too interested in that.

I can't figure out what they'll say is the reason for none of the three returning (and my bet is that all three survive). We know why Vic and Nad would stay away, but even if he thought Montse dead, wouldn't Ale come back for his mother and son? Ugh.

All of that said, the recap made me think I'll watch at least some of it. I can't believe Adolfo went completely to the dark side! He could have totally taken Pedo down. What a disappointment. Sigh. How much longer till we get to ultimas semanas?!

Becky

EJ thanks for your recap. Will be thinking kind thoughts about you and your family's move.

Another time jump, I didn't expect that. If Amelia married Pedro, all I can say is why? I can see marrying badly once but twice.

Nanette, yes I'm shocked Fabs didn't blow through her money. I wonder if she's been looking for her parents?

Dear All:
Such a busy morning! I am at the hospital with a friend who just had a successful surgery! Yeah!

Thanks for all the kind words and wishes. I will be a bit spotty in my ability to comment today, but I will check in throughout the day as I can.

I cannot for the life of me think of why Amalia would marry the eunuch. Que que? Could she have married Sandro? Fabs was sure sour with her when they met last night.

More later,

Elna June

Elna June, I wish you good luck in your search for a new home. I can only imagine how unsettling and even downright scary this must be for you.

This recap is outstanding. I did a double take when Montse fell asleep next to little Laurito and Rosario softly crept out closing the door behind her and then next morning it's what, 6 or so years later?

Montse answered my question about Ale's education just before she fell asleep. He struggled working as a peon, carefully saved his pesos, and SHAZAM! he's got a college degree.

I don't think that Cap'n Tightass (thanks Julia) is bad, just a self-important snob. I'm eagerly anticipating her debut at La Escondida... it simply has to happen after her visit to the club.

I had so wanted for Adolfo to turn out good. Not a chance now though he should be fun to watch.

I haven't seen enough of the older Laurito to form an opinion, but from the looks of him, I'll bet that he's already getting wedgies at school.

I want to see what's become of María. Like UA, I can't imagine that she's been cleaning toilets at La Escondida all these years.

Elna June,

"Surprisingly, the Toyota Tundra... looks exactly the same as the models we saw 6 years ago."

And here I was hoping to get a preview of the 2020 Tundra.

Carlos

Elna June: So glad your friend's surgery turned out successfully!

What a kind, supportive friend you are.

Diana

Isn't it odd that Fofito is now called the Scorpion? I wonder if he inherited Pedho's scorpion necklace?

Karen...ah...Regarding married badly twice...case in point is the other novela I am watching ...Siempre. In that one, the character Susana Gonzales is playing married an evil liar/grifter/bigamist/psychopath/killer . Husband #2 is a wimpy , passive, stupid hypocrite named Art whom we have justly nicknamed fArt. Alas, I think that this scenario also sometimes happens in real life.

I agree Susanlynn...we tend to repeat our mistakes (or attract and fall for the same type of people). A friend of mine, after divorcing her alcoholic husband, refused to ever date again, saying "I don't choose well." I always admired her insight and resolve, because she was still a very attractive woman, and definitely could have dated again.

Maybe Amelia married Tomás, for whatever reason, but he spends most of his time in the D.F. so she doesn't have to put up with him that much.

Although she probably did marry Pedo. Perhaps he learned from his previous marriage and told her upfront there wouldn't be any carrito-bumping, and she was fine with that because she's not that into it and already had her children. Or maybe Pedo just blackmailed her into it somehow and they have a discreet and attractive pool boy.

Carlos, Judy coined the Teniente Tightass apodo. I just plagiarize.

EJ, you are an Angel to be at your friend's bedside in the midst of your house hunting.

In Amor Real, the Adolfo character became a good guy who helped the galan along with his friend the leading lady's bro. They both were reformed and fought withthe galan against the bad guys.

I still think that Ale, VIk, and Nad are on Gillian's Island just waiting with the five-year-old Victoria to be rescued and return to BlueWater and get back to the crazy.

They could definitely have found a better-looking kid to play Laurito. Also, since neither of his parents were glasses, why does he?

I'm betting that Alejandro lost the little briefcase loaded with cash when the plane went down.

I think Monica is shady. I think she may have tipped off Adolfo about the raid. Or she knows who did.

She was also in charge of the search for Ale, Nadia, and Victor, and failed to turn up anything. That might make sense if we believed they all ended up on the bottom of the ocean, but I really strongly suspect that Ale at least survived, so why didn't she find him? Maybe she didn't want to find him. Maybe she helped him escape. WHOSE SIDE IS SHE ON?

Is she in cahoots with Adolfo? Did she help the runaways escape so his sister could be safe? Are they both trying to take down Pedo but doing a super slow job of it?

Or is she just a mean girl who isn't that great at her job?

Something Becky commented on. Does Ale think that Mons is dead?

I'm wondering if Alpo is The Scorpion or just told that guy that he was and it's actually Pedro.

Wow, EJ, hadn't even thought of Sandho as a possible partner for Amelia. That would be a kick--would certainly tick off Graceless, but still be a stupid move. Only advantage...well we know what the advantage would be for her.

Interesting that The Lush didn't come back with her former partner in crime. He's either firmly ensconced out at the hacienda, took off to enjoy his share, or he did marry Amelia and is the town crook....er lawyer.

I don't think there is a guarantee that The Lush has all her wealth still. She may have no clue what she is going thru, or has Mr. Sheisty Lawyer watching her books and taking "three for me, one for you". Doesn't look like Graceless may have gotten her fair share after all...oh darn. Or she blew thru it like she did before.

Nanette, I refuse to believe Dim is a baddie. I think honestly, that would probably make me stop watching. He's like my Obi-Wan Kanobi--he's my only hope right now to keep saving a character I really care about (along with Fina if she surfaces--which won't be a pretty road I'm sure with those two yet if these writers get their hands on things).

Daisynjay

Julia, thanks for that clarification. Sorry Judy, I should have remembered that.

At lunch some 6 or so years ago Sandro assured Gracie that he was going to have sex with her. I wonder if that ever happened? And how is it that Gracie, after striking that deal with Pedro for 50% of Alejandro's inheritance, ended up with absolutely nothing? I simply can't imagine her sitting still and saying nothing while Fabs, Sandro, and presumably Pedro walked away with that fortune. Her testimony was key to the success of their plot.

I'm still holding out hope that Padre Anselmo managed to survive. Not only was there no dramatic death scene, no body (well OK a hand), but also no traditional montage of heart-tugging scenes remembering the deceased. Also, wouldn't you think that the Church might have made an effort to investigate his disappearance?

Carlos

I think everyone is still alive...except the chickens which went the way of all flesh. Padre is being held somewhere because Ez could not kill a priest.. The other three plus Victoria (young spectacled Larry's future NOvia) are trying to figure out how to get off the desert isle. As to Little Larry's parents, perhaps one or both wear contacts or had LASIK surgery.
It is like people who get nose jobs and then have a big nosed bebe.
Has Ped been peddling drugs all this time with nobody figuring out what he is doing or has done?

What about Ez? I do not like the idea of sweet Tia married to that ruthless killer.

Susanlynn, looking for a strong pulley to suspend her disbelief

It is like people who get nose jobs and then have a big nosed bebe.

Susanlynn, thanks for my afternoon lol!

Elna June, you covered everything that went on last night without missing a beat.

Lily, you read my thoughts regarding the time jump. It is sad for Ale to have missed such a big chunk of Laurito's childhood. Most certainly he has to be in a coma or some sort of memory loss because as Becky mentioned, even if he thought Monste was dead, he would have found a way to get his mom and son. Family was the most important thing for him.

As for Padre A, I'm giving up hope of his being alive. He was too feisty to keep under cover for so many years and being the priest he was, his main mission would be to continue his calling, not hiding out somewhere.

Hope a lot more things start making sense soon. Is Maria still hiding and dancing at La Escondida? Did Amelia really marry Pedro? When is Fina coming back?

By the way, good luck on your move Elna June!

Maricruz

Regarding Capitania Monica not finding Ale, Nadia and Vic during the search for them. It is extremely hard to spot a person in the ocean. I have been part of a SAR(Search and Rescue) at sea and let me tell you, you must go grid by grid and you are lucky if you can spot anything in the water. When I was in the Navy we lost a pilot from my ship that ejected and was never found. That's why now all pilots wear a "pinger" that pings their locations. That being said, and not a spoiler, perhaps a fishing vessel picked them up and didn't tell anyone cause they asked them not to, or they could be on a island somewhere remote, or they have amnesia.

As far as Capitana Monica being shady, I really don't think so. She was pithed when she found out that bodega had nothing in it. I really think she is very professional and just needs to work on her social skills, jus' sayin' ; )

As always, love the professional military input, MADS. I know nothing of these matters and you always educate me. Thanks.

I AM STUNNED!!! I'm actually looking forward to watching tonight's ep!

I am betting my last dollar JL goes to Gracie and bribe her to do an Ale do-over and buy some Monse. I will gladly give the dollar away if I am wrong. Gracie is broke, JL is rich, Ale is "dead" so who wants to bet? Romy

Adolfo HAD to become a ruthless killer. The last thing Pedro said to him was, "You're going up north and not coming back until you've lost your soul and can kill a man without whining and crying." So he did. And now he's a soulless killer who will come back and kill Pedro. I don't think he'll come back right away, but hopefully he will slowly turn things around until HE has become the big boss and Pedro and EZ work for HIM without knowing who he is. I would love for him to come back thirsting for blood and feed off those two!

Susanlynn you are hysterical. Yeah, Laurito can get contacts and braces later. I guess he's supposed to look like a combo of Ale an Monse, which he does.

DaisynJay and Nanette-Dim is not a bad guy, he just refuses to drink the koolaid.

Ugh, I hate when the writers think less of the loose ends than we do. Unanswered questions:

Carlos-Did Gracie have sex that day with Sandho or not??? Did she get any money out of Fab? Did she spend it?

Did the Church investigate Padre's disappearance?

Did Tia marry EZ and how is that going?

Fab-is that a wounded wolverine on her head?

Is Amelia married to Pedo and has she noticed they have never had sex?? Or did she marry someone else??

Did the trip to St. Peter's gate convince Ale that Monse is dead?

Why is Refugio still an idiot and how did he make lieutenant?

Why is Lt. Monica still single and is she good or evil?

Were Ale and or Monse myopic as children?

Is the Scorpion Alpo or Pedo? Do we care?

Where is Maria?

Does the sponsor know that the producers are implying that Toyota never updates their vehicles?

Oh my dear Elna June:

I was so admiring your focus and restraint as you had me bouncing along from one zinger to the next. I won't requote all the beautiful lines others have already noted, but I HAVE TO tell that when I got to the part where the REAL ELNA JUNE stepped out from behind the curtain starting about here --

"Lt. Monica remarks that Esme looks ready to drop the little Refu right there and then."

-- and continuing on through here:

"Oh, NO! Refugio, modern man that he is, will need to change ALL the baby’s diapers when he is home, and to hire a nanny to change them when he is out on special operations with his great looking boss. Oh, well. Sh!# happens, as they say. It’s funny how things work out."

--well you had me howling like a crazy person!

Thank you, EJ, for this gift to The Patio even while you being pushed and pulled in so many directions at home.

And thank you to The Patio for all your clever alternative scenarios. It's kind of fun to sit down when all you witty people have already left your mark and just sit back and appreciate you. From the tone of the comments, it sounds as if Nanette speaks for most of us when she writes:

"I AM STUNNED!!! I'm actually looking forward to watching tonight's ep!"

Moving is miserable. Lo siento. I do hope you and Mr. June find exactly the house you are looking for. Listings do change from day to day, and sometimes people don't even realize they want to sell until someone makes them an offer. I have my fingers and toes crossed for you, amiga.

Emarie, great list of unanswered questions, especially the last one. :)
