Weekend Discussion: Karmageddon Awaits!

Karmageddon in Por Siempre Mi Amor

OK, with 17 or 18 hours to go on this story, it's time for this all-important discussion. The villains in this tale are some of the vilest excuses for human beings we've seen to date, so this will be lively.

As in a previous discussion on another series, this will be a two-part question:

  1. What fate do you think they deserve?
  2. What do you think the writers will do to these perverse creatures?

Sonia Arenas (Domenika Paleta)

Guilty of murder (Eugenia), accessory to murder and prison breakout, grifting, kidnapping, false witness, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, murder (withholding medical treatment), perjury, abandonment of a child (yet to be positively identified). Also guilty of thinking she's the hottest thing in Manolo Blahniks.

Fernando Córdoba / Javier Castillo (Héctor Suárez Gomiz)

Guilty of multiple counts of murder, grifting, embezzlement, prison breakout, pickpocketing (cell phone from private detective's pocket), kidnapping, extortion, entrapment (leading Esteban into a life of crime), arson, attempted rape. Also guilty of thinking he is all that and a bag of chips.

Dante (Felipe Sánchez)

Guilty of stalking, accessory to attempted murder (multiple counts), aggravated assault, false witness, breaking into Tita's house, kidnapping, extortion, impersonating a lawyer, arson. Also guilty of taking advantage of his parents' good natures.

Efrén (Alejandro Vilelli)

Guilty of multiple counts of grifting, accessory to murder (multiple counts), false witness, entrapment (leading Esteban into a life of crime). Also guilty of being failed comic relief.

Marcela Zambrano (Lola Merino)

Guilty of medical malpractice with intent of permanent consequences, creating false evidence of adultery, emotional abuse. Also guilty of not seeing a shrink about her 20+-year obsession.

Dafne Quintana (Sofia Castro)

Guilty of alienation of affections, accessory to the lesser crimes of Fernando/Javier (see above). Also possibly guilty of stalking (Arturo).

Aranza de la Riva (Thelma Madrigal)

Guilty of destruction of property, emotional abuse. Also guilty of hiding her adorable dog from the audience.

Borlas (Carlos Speitzer)

Guilty of receiving and selling stolen goods, aggravated assault, false witness, breaking into Tita's house, and crimes against fashion.

B.I.H. (Burn in Hell)

Gonzalo Carbajal (Francisco Rubio)

Guilty of receiving and selling stolen goods, aggravated assault, false witness, breaking into Tita's house, kidnapping, extortion, murder (Minerva),

Karmageddon: Shanked in prison by goons hired by Fernando

In Memorium

Minerva (Macaria)

Guilty of emotional abuse of daughter and grandchildren, theft from daughter and son-in-law to feed gambling addiction. Later came to appreciate said daughter, grandsons, and (2nd) son-in-law.  Suffered redemptive death while attempting to foil escape of grandson's kidnapper.

Comments:
you left Art out. He is just as obnoxious as Ara!
Dafney, I believe gets a bullet trying to protect Este.
Sonia will never cash that check!
Fer will lure her and Lucera to their deaths by his hand.
Ara will come out smelling like a rose, walking down the aisle with Este, who will spend his life trying in vain to keep her happy. (What a cruel fate!)
Fer will be trapped alive in a raging inferno and be burned to death.
The witch doctor loses Art again and this time winds up a raging lunatic in an asylum plastered with 20 year old pictures of Art.
The rest will wind up in a Mexican prison.

UA, thank you for infusing a little humor with "Also guilty of thinking she's the hottest thing in Manolo Blahniks" and "Also guilty of thinking he is all that and a bag of chips.

I'm not sure if this is THE most depressing TN I've ever watched but it certainly ranks high on the list.

I'm guilty of often saying that I'm looking forward to the anvils descending. That said, I believe the most fitting punishments are not in death, but in life.

Sonia and Marcela should languish in jail for the rest of their miserable lives, commisserating on their obsession with and failure to snare Art. So many lives ended and so much anguish over someone who is worth nothing.

Dante's cold heart merits an extended stay in jail where he should reflect on what he has done. I am being generous here only due to his parents.

I feel Borlas has turned his life around and am wishing for a happy ending for him.

I am not a fan of Dafne but feel she doesn't really belong in such foul company. It appears she may suffer physically but we will see tonight. I see her as alone and friendless but not gravely wounded.

Ara deserves to be alone and to lose the love of her life, Esteban.

This is probably a controversial question but shouldn't Art be on this list? He threw his adoring wife out of his house and heart without hearing her out. He knew she was in an accident yet did nothing to find her. A galan? I think not.

I am going to make an exception for Fernando. He is one of the most heinous characters ever. In addition to torturing his wife, multiple murders and countless crimes, I do not believe he can be forgiven for trying to have his son murdered. God will forgive him - I simply cannot. I do not see his evil abating unless he ceases to live. That may be cold but I believe the writers might agree with me.

I was hoping that a cold case detective wasn't satisfied with the "death" of Fernando in prison, he had a gut feeling about the whole thing and has been investigating the case for the past 11 years, finally gets the proof that he needs and on a traffic stop arrests Dante. Dante sings like a canary and the detective lures Meth, Fern, Sucia to a fake Bahamian trip by private plane and they will be arrested once on board. But the plane blows up once the 3 have boarded and the doors close. The detective doesn't rest until he collects the ashes from the crash site.
As for the good doctor- she is running after Art slips, falls and suffers a fatal blow to her head.
Borlas decides to become a priest and his outfits are planned for life.

I keep imagining that FeVier will kill either Lucero or Sonia in a manner similar to Fernando of FELS' murder of Ruth. That was the most perverse murder I think I've seen so far.

FeVier needs to die horribly and needs to be sucked into hell. The latter would not be a first. His death should be something like the death of Diego in Salome, who fell off a construction site platform during a fight with the hero and was impaled on several long, sharp things. Interestingly, Guy Ecker was the galan of that series.

Sonia needs to be outed as Eugenia's murderer, but I can't figure out how. Does anyone remember whether Lucero knows?

Dante needs to have an accident and die. Or be murdered by FeVier first. For him to die would be better for his parents because having him live would still allow them the false hope of his redemption.

Borlas seems to have reformed but he didn't do any time for the killing. Granted, that was under pressure but I'm not sure he doesn't deserve some severe punishment for his earlier abuse of Daniel.

Marcela should lose her license and end up in the manicomio for the criminally insane.

I guess we do need a new priest since the horrible demise of the Padre and Borlas is good with kids.

We'll see the outcome of that shooting tonight.

I did not watch the series that much but yes i agree,Fevier needs to burn. You know the people are truly evil when even death is not punishment enough.Speaking from Robos point of view ,there are some hideous villians too whos karma will be hard, merciless and painful for all of them unless they decide to reform Maria.

Fevier needs to BURN

Urban, Yes Lucero knows about Sonia killing Eugenia. Sonia got drunk after she heard the news and told her. Lucero also knows about Sonia's affair with Raisin and I think the Padre's death too.

My hope for Feo's karmaggedon is that he is being chased by police around the house where he's hiding Isabel, trip and lands face first in a massive hive of Africanized killer bees. He dies a horrible torturous death of bee stings. Then on the way to the morgue the van carrying his body runs off the highway into a river where the crew escapes but Feo's corpse is eaten by piranhas.

I'm not good at handing out sentences but I agree that Borlas should definitely pay for crimes against fashion. Enroll him in a fashion institute. It would be a start.

Aranza guilty of hiding her adorable dog from us. I don't know what her punishment for that should be but she does need to pay for that one.

Fernando is so bad and caused so much pain that I will go along with whatever is agreed upon.
Whatever he gets, he will have deserved it.
the gringo

I am still wondering what to do with Pedro Medina, the other Satan. They should close him in an maximum security institution ( With some "good willed" guard of course) with other crazy inmates. While being outside on a pipe break reading a book, the inmates come ,beat him up,rape him ,cut his moustache and when they are done with him they shut the pipe up his mouth until he suffocates till death.

suffocates to death*
a "good willed" guard *

Xintperuvian, did you see Dona Barbara a few years ago? She was hell-bent on revenge on the five men who raped her when she was a teen. The first one ended up hogtied and thrown alive into a school of piranhas. I was cheering (and not just for Edith Gonzales' great performance).

I'd say this might work, but does Mexico have piranha?

Yikes

No, I didn't see that one. Whatever Feo gets won't be enough. He really is the worst villain I've seen so far.

I was thinking-

-Should the Raisin be on the B.I.H list or In Memorium list?

-I want something scary for Fernando. I remember Cynthia Klitbo's punishment in Velo de Novia (which Susana Gonzalez starred in) was nasty, elaborate and downright merciless (Burned, Crippled by SledgeHammer, Descent into Rat River and JAILED!) Something equal or worse (that is if worse is possible) to/than the above. Personally, I'd like to see hot water thrown in his face or on his groin. Maybe something like Isadora and Leoncio in Amor Bravio. A punishment where he can't falsely claim his innocence or whom maimed him if someone does. If anything else to occur to his groin, maybe a Lorena Bobbit job like mentioned before or an old-time punishment where it gets crushed between two rocks and he is paralyzed and raped eternally in prison. Maybe a scene with him in hell?

-Sonia and Marcela don't really deserve disfigurement or death but suffering. Marcela technically should be jailed for false diagnosis and end up like Marjorie de Sousa in Amor Comprado and suffer in knowing she can't EVER have Arturo. As for Sonia, maybe beaten up on the street or something like Mara from Cachito de Cielo where a rape and beating is organized via Fernando or a beating from Alacranza and finally jail ('Za was about to fight Marianela for Illeana at Tita's wedding so I guess 'Za can hold her own in a fight and the slap she gave our sexy when angry BonBon shows she is capable.)

- Dante deserves to be chided by his parents and something else. I have no idea what though. Maybe he be the one to reveal Fernando and subsequently murdered by him?

-Borlas isn't awful but he did kill. If he dies, let it a noble death like 'Va's by saving a life or foiling any more karma houdiniing (?) Otherwise he doesn't seriously deserve death.

-Daffne and 'Za should be coming to their senses soon enough. I think a good punishment for 'Za would or will be the mini or serious heart-attack she will have when or if she realizes whom she had her first sex with. So much shock left over Daffne will feel it LOL.

-Methuselah...I would like to see him violently beat up like in the very beginning of the novela and left for dead. How about that beard gets ripped off in the process and sold for 5 pesos a handful?

These discussions are so delicious with our nasty wishes.

I will probably think of worse anvils.

R.I.P Minerva!

B.I.H Gonzalo!

(and don't let there be a drought in comments. This is one of the best discussion topics of all time LOL.)

I think I'm looking forward to Ara and Art's punishment more than Fevier. You know a novela has gone wrong…

I couldn't hang with this TN mostly due to Fernando's outrageously evil character. I quit on it early on and just caught the odd moment here and there. Feo needs something both physically and mentally painful. He needs to see that he isn't the great mastermind he thinks he is.

Dante should definitely be a stool pigeon, but he also needs to be consequenced.

The only thing that would stop Feo is death and damnation. He broke out of prison once and Mexico doesn't have a death penalty, even for what he's done.

While I don't mind death for the vile, especially sadist, our Fernando deserves more than the bliss of the deep sleep no matter how horrible the run up.

Destination: North Korean Gulag and you will wish you were dead every minute of every day especially when they want a confession or practice their dentistry.

In nearly every life we have a defining moment to exercise our freedom of choice no matter our circumstances. Am I going to destroy or am I going to empower and our Sonia realized too late there really was a good option. Sonia played because manipulation comes natural and still gets a child's glee out of success. Her one redeeming quality is she entertained me.

Destination: Morgue, disbelieving the old adage you can run but cannot hide she ducks quickly into a hair saloon, pops her head under a clearly marked malfunctioning drier and her head burst into flames.

Sometimes a chip develops on a boys shoulder and should be knocked off and if done early enough a life can be well lived. Dante had parents that either were incapable or unwilling to provide tough love but that no excuse. A wanna be thug with a chip on their shoulder is just as dangerous as a full bore thug.

Destination: Morgue after trying to cozy up to a real deal thug who pistol whips, then dry shaves his baby mustache nicking him badly and in the process bleeds out.

Especially disturbing is the professional success that becomes hateful, spiteful, callous, filled with envy and obsessed. An obstacle is approached surgically and removed be it a root in the garden or the wife of a coveted ex lover. Our Cuckoo Doc has gone tick tock, tick tock too long.

Destination: Morgue after a prolonged painful infestation of flesh eating bacteria leaves nothing but a clump of red hair and her name badge.

Some are not handsome enough or blessed with the gift of gab as front men but are clever cowards. Efran be he.

Destination: Morgue after operating a shell game on the board walk in Myrtle Beach for three weeks an agitated group of spring breakers force a pony keg of budweiser down his gullet in 30 seconds flat.

All little girls wish we were princesses at some point but alas some of us aren't and neither is The Duck. While most of us realize it's a fantasy anyway Dafne doesn't and becomes very insecure. Using her sharp tongue and great sense of timing to bring folks down to her level, she aids but is not the cause, of a stumble or two or three. Distasteful, yes, but evil no.

Destination: In a classroom, on a chalkboard made to write if I don't have something good to say about someone keep my mouth shut 10,000 times.

Some people grow up with an inflated sense of their own self worth and often is compounded by being spoiled ass rotten by adults around them. An insufferable narcissist emerges that needs, like a leach, someone to suck dry. ABrat like a leach doesn't know it's a leach.

Destination: Succumbs to the charms of a street pimp and later sold to a brothel whose patrons the lower dredges of society. 5 dollars and a ghee you're pretty gain admission.

Occasionally there is born to the world a man whose very presence sucks the oxygen right out of a room. A man like no other, one that has never been or will ever be and it an honor to have his lite shine, but for a second, on your face. He is never wrong and it's his way or the highway. Women swoon at the mention of his name.

Destination: Dumpster diving for scraps behind Carrabba's Italian Grill in those orange pants (or are they the yellow pair, don't know they are quite soiled) after Marcela withdrew financial support and the bankruptcy courts were done with him. He does see Isabel (aka Susana González) again on some awards show and wonders if he may have been a little harsh but only for a second.

As much as we'd all probably love to see Feo in prison and getting beaten up daily by all the prisoners who have daughter's Aranza's age, he's too smart to not pull another escape. He has to die and die horribly in the name of public safety.

Sonia may also need to die for a similar reason. If she escapes death she needs to be put in a maximum security facility and under constant surveillance.

Methuselah needs to be in prison, too. But he's not smart enough to escape on his own.

I've had to think about the punishment for Sonia and Marcela. I think they should be forced to spend the rest of their lives together in a tiny windowless cell where they can exchange fantasies about Arturo, get jealous and slap each other senseless every day.

I think they'd kill each other and put us all out of their misery.

Finally, after all the villains are disposed of, everyone else will need to see a shrink.

I don't think that Borlas actually killed anybody. He threw some punches when Gonzo's gang robbed the truck, but I don't think the punches did anyone in. I think someone else shot the person that Borlas punched. I think Gonzo lied to Borlas to make him think he was in too deep to get out.

So I don't think there's going to be an anvil waiting for Borlas.

But I've wondered if perhaps he and Mari might be twins. I agree with whoever said that these two look like brother and sister.

I googled "Borlas Gonzo ambush" and found the Borlas story in Tablet Jefe's recap for episode 51 on 2/13/2014. She covered it as the deleted scenes. I thought I saw it though.

As someone watching this via recap since Univision's subscription only online viewing changeover, all I can say is that Art and Ara have been unlikable since Eugenia died; and truly, telenovela writers need to not make the protags so distasteful.

Feo, Marcela and Sucia deserve the heaviest anvils that fall on them and Ara and Art need to slapoed and beg Isa's forgiveness. Ara should name her firstborn with Esteban-b/c the writers will have them together in the end to make Esteban happy-Eugenia Isabel, because Is a has been a great mom to her bratty self.

Dafne got her anvil already by taking that bullet for Este. The whole bit reminds me of Sofia Castro's mom Angelica Rivera taking a bullet for a man she was crazy in love with who didn't love her back, played by Jorge Salinas in the TN, Mariana de la Nochethat I'm now watching on YouTube.orlhire guiltily

Don't feel guilty about that one. Jorge is muy caliente in that series and the music is fabulous.

UA, the orl guilty part was my 'prove you're not a robot' word. No guilt about Jorge Salinas or Cesar Evora, and Angelica Rivera who plays an excellent villana in that one.

I like Jorge Salinas acting-it's very natural-first watched him lisp and all in 'La esposa virgen', which he made a lot more tolerable given it, and 'Mariana de la Noche' are Mejia productions. I noticed the Mejia-isms I loathed from CI, notably the shaky, impactada camera zoom which makes me dizzy-but since they weren't so famous there were good writers keeping the stories in check, except for 'La Esposa Virgen' which ended with Adela Noriega's character ending up with the wrong galan, but ni modo. I guess Jorge lost the lisp when he finally got that gap of his closed.

J, I was furious at the ending of that novela. The one good thing about it was that the villains got what they deserved. Sergio Sendel said in a post-finale interview that the cast only knew about the ending two days before they shot it and everyone was shocked. Jorge was livid. However, when I saw that series again I realized why it made some sense.

I doubt that anything like it would happen again.
