Que pobres tan ricos, #89 09 May 2014 MA, Adolfo and even Tizoc have a moment to remember
We return to Lupe picking up Emiliano and MA finding them there… Lupe goes back in the school for a moment and MA uses the opportunity to ask Emiliano why he is lying to his mother. Emiliano says he is just finding it fun to keep the secret with A-hole. Emi asks MA not to tell Lupe. MA says no I won’t tell her, but you will, because you know it is not right to keep that information from her. I will wait until you tell her yourself.
Cop Jennifer is in car asking around La Nopalera with a drawn picture of MA if anyone has seen him. First she asks a girl dressed as clown, then she asks Tomas… Tomas fakes not knowing him and even confusing him with a novella star (again the reference to novellas).
A-hole is giving Vilma some orders, notices she is not really focused on what they are doing, Vilma receives a cell phone call, its Adolfo. She won’t answer in front of A-hole, Ahole notes that she seems to have her mind elsewhere. She comes up with the excuse of her moon/venus/planets lining up in her favor. She steps out to call Adolfo back. As Vilma is talking to Adolfo and he is asking her to stop by the grocery store to get him razor and shaving crème, Mini overhears Vilma on phone, finds out Adolfo Giron is staying at Vilma’s. Later Mini discusses with Isela whether or not she should tell MA about Adolfo’s whereabouts.
Vilma brings to A-hole the papers for giving Emiliano his surname. All he has to do is to bring Lupe and Emiliano to the government office to finalize the process.
At penthouse, Leo and AS are finishing the plans for the wedding, with Frida taking the notes. Leo asks for a brand name suit, the cheap ones give him skin rash (urticaria). AS brags about her designs and talents.
Mini/MA at Tomas' place, she whines about the 'pocilga' and Tomas hears this, she tells MA that Adolfo is staying with Vilma… MA in disbelief… and is running out of patience for Mini to find any evidence to help him. Mini warns she is no batgirl or wonder woman to work that fast. She has not been able to get his safe open (liar!), suggests she could call a locksmith. MA does not want her to put herself at risk with the savage A-hole. Mini moved that he ‘cares’. Gets all over him. MA puts a skillet between her face and his.. LOL!! She kisses him on cheek as she runs out. MA calls Saul form Tomas’ cell phone to ask him for a favor.
At penthouse in Roma, Frida suggests Maca would like a ‘super mejicana’ wedding. Leo not amused. HE begs AS to use the money from Don Salomon to buy him a suit. It is a TRUE emergency… AS considers running out of her elixir a much worse emergency. There are PRIORITIES!... Leo insists he needs a suit. Frida suggests a mariachi suit, AS gets offended by the suggestion. Leo is in crisis, if not a brand name suit, prefer to cancel the wedding. AS says no way, your wedding is our only way out of this porca miseria… huuuuuummmmm (Frida enjoying the spectacle)
At government registry agency, A-hole is walking out with Lupe and Emiliano. Now Emiliano is an official RP-Menchaca. A-hole asks him to call him ‘papa’ from now on… Lupe not amused, stares seriously at A-hole. A-hole keeps pulling the strings, he even offers Emiliano a certain amount of money regularly. Lupe puts her foot down and says you can’t decide on what to do and not to do for Emiliano. A-hole asks Emliiano if he is against receiving money from A-hole. Emiliano agrees, and A-hole tries to make that the final decision… Lupe does not want to argue here and now. A-hole agrees, but insists he is in his right to provide for Emiliano. Lupe still not amused or willing to give in.
AS and Leo ask Carm if she knows a tailor. She warns she does not know any that will charge as little as she did. AS asks her not to be malagradecida. (ungrateful). In comes Salomon asking for Lupita, even though he is excited to run into AS. Carm gives him the envelope of money from Lupe… Leo asks AS for something bibbidi babbidi BOOM! Expialodicious!
At the tailor, Leo is admiring himself and posing on the mirror,gives the tailor some leads. Salomon and AS are there too, seems Salomon brought them to the tailor. Salomon seems to be putting the money up front but is asking AS for payment for his ‘help’. AS continues arguing that the ‘things’ she has given him more than pay for it all. Salomon claims that the rest of the stuff, including the booze for the wedding are not in the list yet. Meanwhile Leo mentions some of the folks that were at the William/Kate wedding and says he wants to look like them. (Lady Di?? Leo, where have you been the last 12 yrs??)
Lupe brings Emi to school and is arguing with him, Emiliano walks away from her, she gets upset and calls MA. She wants to see him. He summons her to Gwendy’s. Gwendy went to buy some things for her job.
A-hole tells the board about the latest ‘delictive’ activities of his cousin MA. It is inminent that we let MA’s name go out in the news. A-hole puts on a play of being upset about MA staining the surname of his granddad. The board member states that Don Aureliano would die again if he learned about MA’s unlawful actions. A-hole and Vilma giggle in celebration.
AS urges the tailor that the suit has to be ready by the wedding. AS and Leo worry about where they will get the money. Salomon suggests to AS and Leo that the Menchacas could cook also, even provide the music. AS is excited, Leo not amused with having that kind of food at his wedding.
Lupe arrives at Gwendy’s… she asks MA for them to go somewhere private. Lupe tells MA that she feels like she just put a scorpion on herself by letting A-hole register Emiliano.
A-hole sends Vilma to find out where MA is… Vilma reminds him that he has to have another conference with Bambi about his request to launder money at the Editorial. A-hole gets really irritated and anxious at the same time. Vilma leaves to take care of the Adolfo situation at A-hole’s request.
Lupe tells MA she is worried that Emiliano will turn into a selfish bratty boy… MA tries to reassure her that Emiliano is just going through a temporary enchantment, he will turn around since he is a good boy. He has her and Don Chuy and the rest of the family… Trust him. Besides, Guadalupe, you have me, and I would never allow anyone to harm you or Emiliano (wraps her in a supportive embrace)
Tizoc and Frida have another ‘you say yes, I say no, you say stop and I say go, go goooo!!’ session at the attic… Tizoc talks about her ‘friends’ as her ‘amiguitos fresas’at school. She asks if he is jealous. She suggests he also go to school. He assumes his gigs will get him through. They kiss a few times.
Speaking of kissing, MA and Lupe are also kissing. Does this mean you will forgive me now? Nope, but almost. (another kiss). Is it close or … far… still some ways away (more kissing)… As long as you let me I will be with you… (more kissing).
Frida and Tizoc have made it inside the penthouse room… Frida freaks out about being caught. Tizoc says just Perla and Mati in kitchen, everyone else is gone away. She keeps asking him to leave, he starts to leave but she calls him back (he loves her indicisiveness, I am not amused)… they get back to kissing…
Saul goes to vilma’s apartment. Adolfo is cooking when Saul rings the bell. Adolfo doubts if to answer the intercom or not. Saul asks into the intercom if someone is home.
Back to MA and Lupe, still kissing. Back to embrace. Lupe says when you embrace me its like the world froze and if the clocks don’t tick anymore. It might be cursi, but I wanted to let you know what I feel when I am with you. Me too. (Lupe snaps out of it, have ot go to get Emi and back to Fonda). MA asks when she will tell Emil that they are a couple. She thinks there is too much going on, maybe later. MA asks if Emi and A-hole see each other alone. She says no, she had demanded from A-hole that whenever he wanted to see Emi it would have to be with her present. Why you ask? No, it’s nothing!... nothing.
Lupe tells MA that Nepo will not take too long to demand the rest of the money. MA says he has been trying to figure out a way to pay him in full, but no idea yet. Lupe asks MA for the documents about the $1M clause. MA says the documents got lost. Lupe says don’t know why I love you so much when you are so brute/dumb. They embrace again. MA says he has to go find out if he can manage to iron the clothes he managed to wash. Lupe asks him if he doesn’t know how to iron clothes… MA jokes around ‘who doesn’t now how to iron?’.
DA at NEpo’s, seems DA is writing a poem and Nepo comes around from behind and jolts him. Nepo wants to know what DA is writing but DA won’t let him. Nepo insists… don’t hide things from your dad. Nepo reads out loud a pretty graphic poem. Nepo is actually proud, thinking the poem is for Perlita. (since part of the poem says ‘your perlized body’.) Nepo says it shows that Perla also is crazy about him. DA and Nepo later get a bit cheesy, like if it were father’s day. Nepo insists that DA should have a love interest but his career as futbol player should come first. DA says you are always there. Nepo says you are my biggest pride and joy. DA is also appreciative of Nepo. Nepo says if your mother could see us now. DA asks Nepo to find a woman who can make him happy and that he can make happy.
MA is doing some stretching in front of Lupe, apparently before… MA asks Lupe if all of this is necessary for this task (IRONING!! LOL!!) MA touches the iron says it is HOOOOOTTT!!... he puts down the iron on the clothing but does not move it. Lupe yells at him to move the iron, but by the time she grabs the iron and pulls it off the clothing, it is too late. MA tells her the clothing is Saul’s… Lupe tells him that the ‘ceremony’ was a prank… but she cannot believe he doesn’t know how to iron… MA says go ahead and make fun of me, as long as I can see you smile and laugh like that. (they embrace and kiss again). MA asks if it is about time they stop addressing each other as ‘UD’. She says maybe. He says yeah I think so. (another kiss). She slaps his arm and exits quickly…
MA talks to Saul on phone again. As Saul tells MA that they were wasting their time, he sees Vilma arrive and it so happens that she dropped her shopping bag and the shaving crème came out and Saul saw it ‘Either Vilma shaves instead of using hair remover (depilarse) or there is a guy staying with her.’.. MA urges Saul to give him the address!!
Adolfo tells Vilma that he must be looking like a terrorist about now. Vilma says no way, that look suits you pretty good. Adolfo considers that a compliment from a ‘desired’ woman. Vilma asks ‘what are we gonna….. eat?’… Adolfo says let yourself be pampered by me again… you just ask for whatever you want, and I …. Will fix it.
Tizoc and Frida apparently in his room, Tizoc surprised he is not the first man in her life. Frida says we are in the 21st century, what did you expect? Tizoc says I am a man, its different, they get into argument about who should do what… when Mati walks in on them and lets go a big sigh saying ‘what are you doing, muchachos???!!’… (nothing, abuela Mati, we’re just warming up some tortillas for dinner)

Leonardo not having access to AS's emergency stash of money for his wedding suit. She's saving it for more elixir or food for DaVinci or hairdo for the wedding. I wonder how many times Leonardo has been trumped by DaVinci in his life.
Minerva worried about "pulgas" and chinches" (fleas and bedbugs) at Tomas's house. She really boomeranged off his bed after accidentally sitting on it.
Don Salomon having all of the connections in La Nopalera and telling AS he can get all kinds of deals for their wedding needs. She seemed interested in his list of alcoholic beverages as well as his suggestion that the Menchacas cater the whole event. Leonardo was not impressed.
Leonardo wanting to look like Prince William at his wedding??? Too funny.

I hate when I run out of my elixir too.

Wow Sara, you have a long fuse. I started finding him annoying after not believing Lupita when she told him she didn't want to be his girlfriend the first time.

Sara and Cathy - Nepo started losing me a while ago, but his: "if Lupe won't have me, she won't have anyone" comment was about as bad as he could get. His insistence that his son dedicate himself to football and girls makes him even worse - but I have a feeling (hope?) that he will redeem himself later on.

Cathyx - The bride's family pays for the wedding, but Maca has been giving them the runaround by telling them her parents are in Siberia, y asi, and asked them to go ahead and pay and her parents will reimburse them later. I don't think she's from a rich family, either ... and certainly not royalty. LOL

I love how Jennifer is steadily figuring everything out while her husband/partner is mostly rolling his eyes at her (with some affection, but still) and thinking that all her theories (which are mostly dead on) are just hormonal insanity.
Whyever did Tizoc and Frida not head to Tizoc's bedroom?! Not only was Mati home, but the rest of Frida's family is not exactly known for keeping regular business hours out of the house, either. And Tizoc's door locks! Poor Mati, walking in on them. At least it wasn't AS. Mati will at least be nice about it, most likely!

Thanks Marta! I just watched the episode and am so glad that Lupita and Mike have made up officially, although I really don't think they ever stopped being novios, AND they are tuteando-ing each other now. They were very cute together. I also like Vilma and Adolfo together and hope they get some moments of pleasure with each other before they are thrown in jail for their crimes.
Not only was it stupid of Frida and Tizoc to make love in the penthouse (where you can see right through the windows) instead of in his more private bedroom, but they also did it in the bed she shares with her mother and siblings. Ewww! I hope they plan to change the sheets!

That thought occurred to me, too, Vivi, but then I was like, it's just AS and Leo, so who cares? Mati has her own bed.
I just hope they took the advice regarding masks for wrestling matches. I couldn't decide how annoyed to be at Tizoc. Sometimes I can't tell how much of his macho/sexist attitude is real and how much is just him teasing Frida. But pro tip, dude: if you want your lady friend to have sex with you, maybe you should not say or even imply that it's not okay for women to have sex.

Anonymous--"he was shaving for a bodybuilding competition. This in Spanish is a “competencia de fisicoculturismo”. Tizoc did not know or could not pronounce it so it came out “fisico turismo”. I went over this a few times trying to figure it out on my own and had no clue. Thanks!

I am worried about DaVinci and the broken glass in the "penthouse". I don't think it was swept up well enough. Well, at least his feet hardly ever touch the ground.
Frida making fun of the pictures of hairdos at the beauty salon surprised me. I guess she couldn't help herself. I have to admit to snickering about the one comment where she claimed it looked like a ferret in heat was living in the girl's hair.
The writers who do PSA's must all have been working this week. Multiple PSAs about eating right and the importance of education. Don't know if it was meant to be informative but I liked Frida telling Tizoc that it's OK for a girl to have sex too. He seemed to fall in line pretty fast thankfully. And yes, please, please--I hope they used protection.
I was a little surprised that Vilma appears to be falling so quickly. I would have enjoyed a little more courting from Adolpho…it was fun. But I'm thrilled she may not be under Ahole's spell any longer.
I might be wrong, but I don't think Leo actually meant for his suit to look like Prince William's uniform. I think he is going to be very surprised.
Lots of Catwoman (Gatubela), Batgirl (batichica) and even a Joker reference this week.

Diego always makes me so sad. Even aside from the fact that he's not into girls in general, which few of the characters seem to have noticed, everyone keeps acting like he's in love with Perla when he has never even hinted that this is the case! He actively avoids her advances! So awkward and uncomfortable for him. You'd think anyone close to him could AT LEAST pick up on his lack of interest in her in particular!
This poor guy doesn't seem to have a single real friend. I'm not counting Leo just yet. I hope Guendy steps up as a loving mother figure when Nepo almost inevitably goes ballistic when his secrets are exposed.
