De Que Te Quiero, Te Quiero #99, 6/20/2014
Part One
I did some combining of scenes.
El Refrito
- Mr. Policeman is told to keep out the OTHER guy that looks like the picture out.
- Brat cries to Alberto.
- Natalia tells Diego that she doesn't want Diego or Rod near her until she can tell the difference. She's so confused could hate or love Diego or Rodrigo equally.
Diego (like this recapper) doesn't understand how Natalia can consider him and Rod one and the same. Natalia feels like a trophy in the twins' game, but Diego swears he's never seen her as a trophy. The love each other! How can she be doing this? The only thing she knows is she's confused (and maybe a little dumb?)
Gino supervises Paolo's computer usage. Paolo realizes he's going to distract Gino if he's to discover anything. Paolo calls Mara and she comes running to tell Gino some machine or something is making an odd noise. Gino tells Paolo to take it, but Paolo makes some excuse about being in the middle of his computer business. Gino finally leaves and Paolo finds the deleted emails from the secret admirer, Cunchetina (C-tina.) One email asks Gino to meet at a hotel restaurant at 8. Paolo is distressed that his mom is being lied to.
Diego chooses a sporting metaphor (If you do this Rod "wins) and Nat is not happy about it. She doesn't want to be the plaything between Rod and Diego anymore and just wants them to leave her alone. Diego doesn't want her upset, so he agrees. He'll leave, but he's sad that Rod came between them. He leaves the fonda like a defeated dog and Rod, observing from the corner, thinks to himself that Nat must have kicked his bro to the curve. He muses that they are both tied in the Natalia Cup.
In Tuxpan, the slimy PI (Alejandro Rotundo) checks birth records.
Carmen and Natalia discuss the latest happenings. Natalia doesn't doubt she loves Diego; the problem is she can't tell the two of them apart. Rod could walk in right now and be sweet and kind and Nat would thinks it's Diego. It's driving Nat crazy. Carmen suggests that Nat talk to a professional.
Diego calls Alonso at his office. Alonso tells him to come on over. Irene calls soon after Alonso hangs up with Diego. He lets her know that Diego is upset after talking to Natalia and suggests that Irene come by his office as well. Irene heads over.
Paolo struggles about telling his mother about Gino. Mara thinks Carmen needs to know and make her own decision. Mara has an idea. With her voice disguised, Mara calls Carmen and tells her that she's being lied to. Mara tells Carmen to be at the hotel restaurant at 8.
Oh, Brigitte the Brat. You are rather dull. This poor girl thought she could make up a lame story about the apt owner having trouble paying the rent and that Alberto would lend her money. Even I knew his solution would be for her to move back in with him. What a dimwit. Albert excuses himself to go to the loo and Rod walks in. Brat hustles him out and they continue their conversation in the street (I crudely surmise that Albert is doing #2 if they have this much time.)Rod tells her to get what she can from Alberto (I assume info wise) and then they will begin rent negotiations. Brat feels like he just pimps her out. I feel like she does that just fine on her own. Alberto is waiting for her when she gets back...and believes the story about a nice neighbor agreeing to give her a loan. How did Alberto pass the bar exam? You know what? Today I think the FRONT of Brat's dress is shorter than the back! Yikes!
Diego tells Al and Irene that he thinks that maybe at some point Nat began to love Rodrigo. Al and Irene think that's not the case because she thought Rod was Diego. But how could she be so confused? Al and Irene assure him that Nat loves him. A call from Nat interrupts this conversation. She want to come talk to Alonso right away and asks Alonso to NOT TELL DIEGO. Al hangs up and is badgered by Irene and Diego. They want him to help Diego reconcile with Nat.
After the phone call from the "anonymous tipster" Carmen weighs her options. If Gino is cheating, she would have a great excuse to cancel the wedding. But what about her pride?? She may not want to marry him, but her pride is still bruised. Nat comes in and lets her know she's going to see Al. Carmen wanted her to see a professional, but not THAT professional. Nat trusts him because he would NEVER betray her. Carmen has to go out, too.
C-tina (whom I LOVE!! I want to dress like her and I love watching her hands flying everywhere) tells Eleazar about going to see Gino at the bowling alley and the email with the request to meet. El wonders if that's a good idea. What might happen when el Fettuccine sees C-tina? She can't be bothered with details. Whatever happens, happens. They hang up and El doesn't want to miss it. He gets ready to leave, but Kimberly interrupts. She's got dinner ready, and El has the excuses ready. Kim doesn't believe him.
Nat comes to ALONSO's office and finds DIEGO. Nat is pithed! They set her up. Diego just wants her to listen! He lays a big smoochie on her and the music swells as we head to commercial.
Returning from commercial, we see Al and Irene sitting in a car outside his office building. He feel pretty bad about what they did to Nat, but Irene thinks everything's fair in love and war. He plants a smoochie on her, but she cuts it off. He tells her they can't keep hiding their feelings. He knows she loves him as much as he loves her. Irene gets out of the car.
Oh Diego, you idiot. Things were going pretty well until you started talking again. He had the gall to say "Swear that Rod never made you fell like that!" Hear that? That's the sound of a scratching record. Diego tries to apologize (when really there is no apology in the world that will save him after that crack.)Natalia reiterates that she is tired of being the toy that they are fighting over. Diego stops her, but she tells him to let go and slaps the stew out of him. Yes, Diego you are reverendo idiota (idiot emeritus...loose translation.)
Al is busy trying to convince Irene not to deny her love for him and she is busy reminding him that she's married. Irene will not let Tad down and Al thinks she should talk to Tad and let him know how she feels. Nat comes out and pronounces loudly, clearly and with reason that ALONSO IS UNETHICAL. Were other things said during this scene? Probably, but that was the most important in my book. Oh, Nat is mad at Irene about it, too.
Slimy PI calls Tad and tells him about his progress in Tuxpan. He's gone through the birth records from December to January of the year the child disappeared. He scratched all the boys of his list and now it's just a matter of tracking down, the most promising leads...but he'll need more money transferred to his account for expenses. He promises to email Tad a list of the names. Irene comes home with a headache and fills him in briefly about Diego and Nat. Tad tells her about the PI's progress.
Diego continues how he could be such an idiot. We're wondering too, dude. Al tells Diego about his mistake with Irene downstairs and Diego hears for the first time about Al and Irene (I had forgotten that Diego didn't know.)
Rod is at Brat's apt enjoying a sammich. Brat wants to know when he's going back to Caprico. Rod tells her that he's not just going to work there, he's going to control everything...so she better know which is the right side to be on. She swears she's always on his side, but she hates the way he treats her (You let it happen, hon. You'll get no support from this quarter!) She's with him because she luuurrrvvvesss him. I laugh right along with Rod. Rod thinks she should have put her eggs in Alberto's basket. He's the best guy Rod knows. Rod tells her to call Nat. He wants intel and he wants it on speaker. He wants to hear Nat's voice. NOTE: If you still have this recorded, watch it again and pay close attention to the area between Brat's brows. She and Rod have the same little squint wrinkle.
Slimy PI has sent the names and lo and behold the last name on the list is Natalia Garcia Pabuena. Tad wonders if it's the same Natalia and calls the PI. The PI confirms that the child was registered as the natural child of Carmen Garcia Pabuena born December 24. Tad tells the PI to cross her off the list. He knows it can't be her. After this call he ponders what a coinicidence it would be if Natalia was the child they were looking for, but it couldn't be. Coincidences of that size just don't happen in this world. Dude, you live in the world of telenovelas! ARRRRGGHHHH! Frustration abounds in Casa de Recapper!!!
Brat talks to Nat and asks if she'll give Diego another chance. Rod thinks it's promising that Nat won't be giving his brother another chance. Rod thinks he'll have to be on his best behavior.
C-Tina waits for Gino and El spies on her. El is kind of surprised Gino hasn't shown after the photo she sent. A waiter drops a tray nearby calling C-tina's attention to El. Aaaand that's why they are sitting together when Carmen shows up. They look pretty snuggly, too since C-tina was in the midst of telling El that if it weren't for her great love for Gino, she would be all over El (you will need to get in line, chick.) El is flattered, but he confesses he's in love with Carmen.
Paolo and Mara have shown up to see what happens, too. Carmen sees them and assumes they are there for a little hubba hubba and drags him away by his ear. I guess to keep Mara and himself from being outed at the anonymous tipsters, he confesses that he and Mara were indeed there for hubba hubba. Carmen drags him out and Mara pinches his arm HARD. It's a cute scene. Gino had also walked in the lobby and had seen them, but he scurried out before they could see him and his roses.
Commercial. Mi Corazon es Tuyo promo. Go home, Uni. You're drunk.
C-tina asks El how long he's loved Carmen and his response must be translated: "I think I learned to walk so I could take her hand. I learned to talk so I could say her name. And before smelled the ocean breeze, her aroma was etched in me." C-Tina looks touched.
Irene calls Nat and wants to explain what she did. Natalia is still upset that everyone played dirty with her. Irene hopes they can talk later in Caprico, but Nat tells her she's not coming back and hangs up. Irene laments the mistake. Tad comes in and she begins to tell him about the days happenings.
Gino berates himself on the drive home. Gawd he's funny.
El is telling C-tina that the kiss he and Carmen shared had to have been love. C-tina wonders why Carmen insists on marrying Gino. El wonders the same. C-tina also wonders why he's engaged to someone else. Because he and Carmen are alike. Pride and impulsiveness gets the better of them. Kimberly shows up and she's pithed.
Bro central. They talk lady trouble. Alberto is back with Brat, but he feels like she's hiding something. (It's not her azz, buddy. That's all out in the open.)
Kimberly calls C-tina a fulana and throws water in her face. El throws Kim over her shoulder and drags her out of the restaurant.
Carmen comes home with Paolo and Mara. She tells him to escort Mara home and to come straight home. She asks Lupita to get her water. She can't decide if the woman called to tell her about El or Paolo. AAARGH!!! More frustration abounds at Casa de Recapper.
El puts Kimberly down. She breaks up with him and he takes her at her word. They are done. He tells her it's kind of a relief since he was in love with another woman: Carmen Garcia.
Avances
- Rod shows up at the Garcia apt and tells Nat he's in love with her.
- Nat plans a meeting with both of them
Labels: te-quiero
I am a huge C-tina fan myself. If Carmen doesn't stop her jealous tirades, I may start hoping C and El do end up together! Not really but I am liking the character and think she is really livening this up (and in a good way).
Nat is right. Unless Diego gets a microchip implanted and Nat carries a scanner around her neck, there seems to be no foolproof way for her to be absolutely certain which twin she is speaking with.
Poor big Al! He is not using the brain power gifted to him. He must have a blind spot where the Brat is concerned, but really. How long will he continue to be so gullible?
Irene and Al should be trying to sort out bro from bro. Nat needs to know definitively which one is Diego, then work on their problems the least of which is how to get away from Rod permanently.
That PI is beyond reprehensible. Look forward to hearing exactly what he said to Tad in part 2 of your recap.
Thanks Sara!
Diana
"Diego chooses a sporting metaphor (If you do this Rod "wins) and Nat is not happy about it. She doesn't want to be the plaything between Rod and Diego anymore..."
Nice observation as was Rod's thought that "they were both tied in the Natalia cup". Yes. Guys do compete. Over everything. And once they win, they often move on.
And like you, I absolutely adore Cuchetina. She is the best thing that has happened to this story lately (as was the addition of Peacock Gino). I find myself wanting to speak pseudo Italian like they do. It's such a stitch. My "inner voice" is now fake Sicilian. Go figure. Works for me! More fun than nasal Midwestern English.
Nat is refusing to accept the fact Diego may be right. She protest she will not be a trophy to be won (while open mouth kissing both) when she in fact has fallen for the guy she now knows is Rodrigo.
Nat - understand your lament dear, if only the bad boy would soften those edges you could take him home to mama
Diego - the good boy trying to act bad is never as believable as the bad boy pretending to be good
Irene - surprised? I'm not, a juicy fly around toad boy = tongue
Toad Boy - standard bearer of professional ethics
Tad - dammit Tad it's in front of you in black & white
El - why did you disrespect her and treat her like a child, I'm docking you 10 points
Alberto - duh, you think somethings amiss, whatever gave you that idea
C-Tina - rethink this Gino thing
Carmen - Next
Mara - another clever girl
"Today I think the FRONT of Brat's dress is shorter than the back!" The better to service whoever will hand over some rent money, my dear. Oh, sorry, was that crude? Well, I might feel bad about it if she'd stop acting like she has no choice...oh, poor Brigitte! She has to put up with Rodrigo's terrible treatment in order to keep living in her luxury apartment. Go cry in the money he leaves on the nightstand, sweetheart. (Wow, I'm mean!)
tofie...right on about Mara. She may be the second-smartest person after Lupita. She actually came up with a plan all by herself. Refreshing!
"she's hiding something. (It's not her azz, buddy. That's all out in the open.)"
And me, I swear I teared up just reading that. What a declaration. Imagining myself in Carmen's place right now. Hubbahubba.
Bro central. They talk lady trouble. Alberto is back with Brat, but he feels like she's hiding something. (It's not her azz, buddy. That's all out in the open.)
Another gem. And I agree with you. The actor playing Gino is doing a marvelous role in this comedy. I relish every scene that he is in. Not to mention the outfits.
Okay, back to imagining El throwing me over his shoulder (but NOT breaking up with me). See you later, folks. And many thanks Ms. Sara. Time Warner still working on my problem, but God willing by Monday it will be fixed.
Looks like the evil twin came out in Diego last night. No wonder Rodrigo can pass himself off as Diego.
She is punishing Diego far more than Hot Rod. If Rod is gone she still doesn't want Diego (that insensitive pig). If Diego is gone she will relent to Rod if he is just nice and tells her she's pretty.
Tad might be thinking that Natalia is Carmen's bio daughter.
Irene knows otherwise but does Tad know Natalia is adopted?
If Tad studies Nat's family he will know Natalia (Nat/Brat) couldn't possibly be Carmen's bio daughter, even without finding out from Irene. Then it's on...
I loved your translation of "reverendo idiota" as idiot emeritus. Certainly fits!
Alonso has learned nothing from the last 247 times he acted unethically. At the same time...Irene, WTF? You broke up with him because you believed that he was screwing ALL of his female patients and yet you encouraged Nat to talk to him and agreed to sit in a car alone with him.
And ALL of them failed to learn that what's hurting Nat the most is lies and feeling she can't trust anybody, so gee, brilliant plan...let's lie some more and betray her trust! That will fix everything!
I think Tad hasn't heard the story about Natalia being a foundling, so when the PI said that Carmen was listed on the birth certificate he just took that at face value. I was hoping he'd mention it to Irene as a "wasn't it funny her name turned up on the list since we were just talking about how we'd like our daughter to be like her" and she'd say something about Natalia being adopted.
Yes. Wouldn't that have been lovely? Unfortunately, I think Irene was to busy telling him about her day trying to "fix" Diego and Nat...oh, and Alonso helped too.
The first time I watched I took it at face value, but as I sat down to recap it occurred to me that Tad may have gone in there specifically to tell her about the funny coincidence, but just decided to listen to her instead. His facial expression is a bit wistful and sad.
Ok, she doesn't love Tad and he knows, but she is living at his home, he married her and she is the beneficiary of his estate. Perhaps when Tad passes and she gets the cash she can move Alonso in Tads house since he will finally do something else unethical and they pull his license and be left penniless and thrown out of the dorm.
Wow, Judyb..I join you in admiration for those beautiful words out of El's beautiful mouth. Can you imagine an American guy saying something like that ? I have noticed that guys from certain cultures have a romantic way with words. If they write a paragraph for me about someone they know and they choose their girlfriends, the hyperbole soars off the page. They seem to especially like referring to women as angels.
As to when big Al will finally see who Brat really is, I think it will happen only if or when she stops wearing those tight, crazy short dresses. I have been wondering if there are actually little panties attached to these engineered wonders like skaters or little girls wear. As someone mentioned, I am always expecting to see not only London but also France.....and maybe even Spain when Brat starts skipping around a scene.
I find it amazing that Nat is equally ticked at the poor wretch that Rod drugged for weeks and tried to kill as she is with the smarmy, smirky morally bankrupt Rod. Que ????Really, Nat ? They are equally evil and hateful ? I think not.
Loved your recap.
Had a wedding out of town this weekend, so am trying to get back up to speed.
I enjoyed the discussion about the Brat's dress. I have also wondered how she gets away with it.
All the characters except Mara and Lupita are behind the power curve. I really like these two.
Thanks again, Sara.
David
I suspect Kimberly is not a very nice person and in general spoiled and witchy...BUT she doesn't deserve the way she's been treated. Maybe they edited stuff out, but for the most part she's been pretty nice to El.
I don't know what else El has to do. The guy worships the ground Carmen walks on, he has been the Garcia family rock for years, the kids all love & respect the guy and all he does is watch the revolving door of men hoping when they all abandon her and he the last standing she will have no other choice.
I just love that little Lupita. She is just precious.
Honestly, I don't want this TN to end. Even though I have been gnashing my teeth over at Robo, this TN is a happy TN. I love Gino and his outfits. They make me smile. C-tina is a sweetie, too...but, I hope we have a winner in the new TN with the wonderful Silvia Navarro and Mr. Handsome Salinas and Rene C. We are going to need a lot of smiles after this one ends.
Thank you, Sara!
Fatima
I am surprised the corrupt PI actually reported back to Tad with a real list of the possible matches. Now, of only Tad and Irene could communicate effectively, they'd be able to put it together pretty quickly.
Susanlynn- Although I can understand Nat being distressed because of her inability to tell the twins apart, I don't understand the hate she's throwing Diego's way either. It's not HIS fault she can't tell him apart from his smarmy brother. In fact, I think HE should be the one who's offended to realize just how little she must know him. Diego and Rod give off totally different vibes. Maybe if Nat weren't always so focused on me, me, me when they're together she could pick up on it.
Nanette- I don't know if Irene ever shared the story about her baby with Nat. I think they both just shared that they are adopted.
Diego's error is being unable to process that in two months time he was seamlessly replaced and folly to compete when the game is over. He should also reaccess his friendships and family members. They knew the evil twin but Diego is just not memorable enough to be missed. Guess he knows how the dog feels in National Lampoons Vacation now.
Very insightful comment. It did not occur to me that Nat was attracted to the loathsome one but what you said makes perfect sense.
I see this is being replaced in a month's time by Mi Corazón Es Tuyo - I'm not sure how many episodes there are left but I will miss this.
Diana
I hate that the PI is corrupt because El trusted him and recommended him to someone—I can’t remember who.
Diana: I think the total of eps is 185 or 186. Of course with them doubling and very possibly tripling the eps for the next month, we'll get through pretty quickly. I just hope they don't start editing the final week and we miss some crucial plot line closures.
Nanette
She MARRIED Rodrigo/Diego even with the knowledge he was trying to rape her!
