Lo Que La Vida Me Robó, # 151, 6-11-2014:

Hi Robó Fans,

Eli's internet and cable went out on her completely last night, so she asked me to post this discussion page until the problem can be fixed.

In the meantime, please feel free to discuss the episode!

Comments:
Eli, so sorry to hear that your cable went out.

Too bad everything can't be fixed with a good Mariachi band (like Refugio's and Esme's marriage). : )

Jarifa

Eli, I also am sorry that your cable went out. It's so upsetting, especially as you were preparing to do your recap. I hope the issue is fixed quickly.

That said, I must express relief that you were spared the afterglow of Sandho and Graciela's tryst. Fortunately, we were spared any specific details except for Sandho's utter joy afterward. Thankfully, the intimate encounter itself was left solely to our imaginations. Poor Dimitrio was not as fortunate as he burst into his mother's room at the end of the scene. I'm sure his eyes were burning and the imagine of what may have transpired burned indelibly in his brain. To say he was appalled was an understatement.

Jarifa, "Too bad everything can't be fixed with a good Mariachi band (like Refugio's and Esme's marriage)". Perfect.

Eli:

I am so sorry your cable and internet went out. I too hope your cable and internet are restored.

I actually laughed at Graceless and Sandho. He kept going on and on about how great it was. Dimi coming up there and seeing them, with Manuela fully aware, made me laugh. I liked when Dimi caught them and his rolling of his eyes, too funny. Serves Graceless right and the explanation was funny too.

I liked JL and Lolo playing soccer, it was very sweet.

How much sicker can Peddy get? That whole scene was yuck worthy. I am glad that Amelia has come to visit Nadia. Looks like Amelia may have a plan ; )

Weren't Refugio and Esme sweet this episode. I too loved that mariachi band and Refug's singing. The trip to the hospital was also cute and funny.

Oh, and JL telling Monse he was reminded of her selling her land to run away with him, and now the sale of the house. His spidey sense is working ; )

Jarifa:

I too agree with your take on the Mariachi band, it was welcome relief and I loved Esme's reaction.

That whole Graciela, and Sandro tryst was "vomitable". So she is "enticing" him with even more?? No post nookie cuddling for Graciela? Why is that not surprising? I am glad we didn't see any more than what we did. I am happy Dimitrio got to experience the "ick" factor though and was pleased he is keeping his resolve not to be snookered in by Graciela.

Finally, Montserrat is acting like a grown woman on a mission. I so enjoyed her visit with crazy BM.

Of course, Carlota, almost lets the truth about Ale slip and does a quick recover but she wasn't as smooth as she thought. I think Ezequiel''s radar is now on.

Jarifa

Well, Graciela may not enjoy basking in the afterglow, but judging from Sandro's reaction, it doesn't sound like she is exactly frigid as UA and others have speculated. If he enjoyed Gracie so much, just imagine if he had taken María up on her offer... she might have polished him off.

Carlos

LOL, Carlos, then Maria would be guilty of another crime - assault with a deadly weapon!

Eli, I'm sorry this happened. It's a royal pain.

Dimitrio is probably wishing for brain bleach right now, poor guy.

See you all later; gotta go to an appointment.

Carlos, Carlos, what more can I say?

Jarifa

Someone has ask before and I am asking again why can't Monse jsut move out with Rosy and Laurito? Forget Ale for a moment since when do you need your husband to give you his permission to leave him? Beanie or not this is too much in 2014 uff

Romy:

Since there is so much danger with Ale being back in Aguazul, I think Monse is trying to keep JL at bay, and what better way than to stay with JL and allay his fears she will up and flee. I think that is the only reason she is staying with him. And yes,I'm a big fan of JL, cause before the writers started messing with his state of mind, he was the smartest guy in this TN. He was onto Peddy way before anyone else was.

Julia R:

If you are checking this post, please label it as robo. It isn't showing up on the side bar. Thanks.

Ah yes, if only every heartbreak and betrayal (even if only in imagination) could be fixed by a couple of Mariachi numbers. But I'm happy about it because I was royally tired of Esmeralda glumping around, whining and stuffing her face. I love the actress and I loved her earlier in the show as a "sadder but wiser" gal with a lot of pluck. Hopefully a good contraction-inducing roll in the hay will get her back on Happy Track.

I know José Luis has done wrong (and I don't even like the guy at his best) but I don't care for the snotty way Montserrat is treating him. That is adding insult to inevitable injury. We always blame those we intend to hurt; it helps us justify in our minds that we really are a good person, regardless of what we do. But this shabby, contempuous
treatment...jeez! Or as Fatima would say, Holy Cow!

Eli, feel so bad for you. we can do without a recap, do not worry about us, but nowadays when the cable and internet goes out...yikes! Hope that is up and running soon for you! I'd be going insane with the World Cup starting today.

Last night I loved all things Dim and Mumsy. First...holy cow, Gracie apparently can get it on as Carlos pointed out. She always comes off as such an ice queen. There was a bit of the ICK factor having Gracie know that Fabs is her daughter and knowing the same guy was sleeping with her...just ICK. But Dimitrio was all kinds of wonderful from his initial " my eyes are burning" reaction to the whole confrontation with her. We do not get enough of this actor!

Then we have to deal with the rest. I turned off the Pedro sliminess and slobbering to check on ESPN. Couldn't stand it. And I guess I didn't get as much into the Esme/Refugio thing as others. My first reaction was "where the hell have you been with the attention all this time?" There was some cute moments in it, but have to admit I've been a bit over the couple for awhile.

Monse/Maria=Meh.

Daisynjay

I haven't been able to comment lately, been trying to catch up with double DQ eps. For the last month or so, it's like a three TN time commitment for me. Too much. But I've read every recap and all the comments for both shows. How could I not?!

I just love you guys. I'm so glad to be a part of this family.

Nanette

Montse has every right to act towards JL that away. He only gets what he dishes out. He acts like an ass/jerk don't expect her to be nice/sweetness to him. Good to see her blinders off of him when before she had him on a pedestal and thought he was so honorable, noble.
(Everyone kept saying that so much earlier about him I wanted to start a drinking game everytime noble, honorable was mention)

Anon 1:10:

Yes, JL was noble and honorable. He saved Ale's life not once but THREE times, he didn't have to, but he did. He also made Monse think he was a hateful person, so she would stay away from him, so she could be happy with Ale. I agree what he is doing now isn't the best he could do, but neither is she treating him well, as JudyB pointed out, besides Monse is trying to justify her actions and blaming JL, when she is cheating and lying. 'Nuf said.

Madelaine: she is cheating because JL will not let her go. Yes she started cheating before he went sinister but he will not let her leave him so she must cheat. All JL has to do is divorce then voila problem solved.
Romy

Fellow peeps, I'm still without cable and internet but Time Warner has offered oh so kindly to send a tech out on Saturday, between the hours of 8-4!

Romy:

I understand what you are saying, but she never cheated on Ale when JL was at the hacienda. I understand she loves Ale and always will, but she could have handled this differently. This is what bothers me so much about her. She could separate from JL and take Lolo and Rosario, set up housekeeping somewhere, keep a low profile and then finally get that divorce, like say going to Mexico City, living there for a bit and getting an express divorce. But Ale being in Aguazul stops her from doing that. What else bothers me is that she knows more now than JL does. He suspects Ale is in Aguazul, he knows because he called that hospital in Argentina and they told him that Ale had been "unplugged" from the life support and woke up. He knows Ale would come to Aguazul no matter what. Now he is on the hunt for Ale and it will not end well. I just wish Monse had not married JL, her choice by the way, and she could have avoided this whole mess and had JL's help. But then again we wouldn't have all this angst now would we ;)

Eli:

I'm so sorry about your cable and internet. Figure the odds the cable company would come out the same day and fix it. Boo to them. I hope you get it back on Saturday : )

All I have to say that Monserrat is No white as snow innocent in any of this. I currently can't stand the character*

Eli, I too hope you get your internet running soon. Its funny how we come to rely on technology now for everything. In my home, having trouble with the internet also knocks down the phone line and the TV. Big bummer!

The most interesting part of the show yesterday was the scene with Gracie,Sandro and Dim. I too love how Osvaldo plays Dim! Have to agree with Daisynjay though about the ick factor with both mother and daughter getting it on with Sandro. Gross!

Yesterday some of you were comparing some of the similarities that are happening all over again and I couldn't help but notice how picky Gracie had been with Monica's dinner. She didn't want Fina as her daughter in law, yet she possessed all the qualities Monica lacked, especially in the home environment. Remember how Fina was always preparing homemade appetizers and food? I guess nobody can win with Graciela as a mother in law. Lol!

Maricruz

I thought it was somewhat revealing of Montse's character that as she was telling Alejandro about the sale of her house to JL she told him that she was going to receive a price somewhat more than it was actually worth.

I thought this was hilarious:

Sandro: I want you to know that for me this is not some kind of game. I love (quiero) Graciela. I respect her.

Dimitrio: Respect her at least three times a day... please...

Judy,

"Ah yes, if only every heartbreak and betrayal (even if only in imagination) could be fixed by a couple of Mariachi numbers."

I thought exactly that very thing. However, I must say I'd have been very annoyed with Esme had she refuse to forgive Refugio.

I wonder if it's occurred to JL that some mariachis might help his cause?

Carlos

Eli..sorry that you are without cable and have to wait to have it restored...frustrating.

I was out late last night and did not get to see this episode. I guess I was spared the sight of Gracie and Sandy doing the wild thing. Blecchh. Poor Dim...that is an image that will NEVER fade. que lastima.

It sounds like Mony never should have told Tia a secret because Tia just cannot keep a secret. You would think that Mony would know that by now.

Sorry...but I have had it with JL. When someone does not want you and he or she is in love with someone else, you just have to be a big boy and move on and find someone who can love you. Doing otherwise is a lesson in futility. Everything that he has tried so far has failed...sacrifice, threats, pleading...Basta, All your attempts to win over the only woman on earth is getting old and biting. Move on...look around...there are a lot of fish in the sea...a lot of other pretty, nice fish who are not in love with a big guy with big teeth. To quote my friend Carlos..NEXT.

Biting ???......that is the one thing that I have not seen JL do.....I do not think that he has bitten anyone. That was supposed to be "boring., sorry..

Susanlynn- Well, he looks sort of rabid right now, so biting could be in JL's future. ;-)

Nanette:

And we are so happy to have you here too! No worries, DQTQTQ goes to one hour epis starting tomorrow night which will give those delightful recappers a well deserved break : )

Although it's been about 5 episodes it's only actually been two days since Monse decided to bolt.

As to her cheating on JL I think he deserves that for concealing the fact that Alejandro was still alive. He did that to trap her and he did it without a twinge of conscience.

Getting back to Gracie, I have something to say. Trust me that she fakes it all. She might have some good moves in bed, but that doesn't mean she enjoys doing them or getting back whatever Sandro has to offer. He's gorgeous and probably has some good moves but Gracie is frigid. She doesn't allow herself to enjoy sex or to love anyone because to her it's a loss of control.

It's the only way she feels safe and confident. She is angry that her children aren't like that themselves. That's one of the reasons she's lost them.

Susanlynn! Everything about what you said!! Really...even in a TN where we know we are going to get oddles of drama, you still can't help but yell "Get Over It Already!! At this point, there is nothing that will get Barbiedoll to want JL as a hubby. You lose buddy. You can lock the doors, you can cajole, you can tie her to a chair and threaten to do that awful dance move over and over again, you can kill Ale...YOU WILL NOT WIN HER BACK! Kaput.

Watching this "I have to win back my property" is just so 19th century. As for Monse, move out. Take your son, who if you had an ounce of care for him, would understand it confuses him to be around a man he's going to realize you don't like much and yet who is good to him and divide his loyalties and confuse him.

Honestly...just give us more Dim dancing and swaying in the moonlight until these cretins get their act together. Now there is something worth tuning into.

Daisynjay

Here's a quick and dirty recap, guys:

Part One:

Esmeralda asks Refugio for a divorce. He refuses. He confesses to his past, fleeting interest in Mónica Rentería. Now Mónica is with Dimitrio and is irrelevant to them. He begs Esme to give him another chance. She is glad to know the truth -- it validates what she was feeling. But he is still in the dog house. When he gets back tonight, his suitcases will be packed and ready so he can move out.

Sandro will recover Ben's original will for Graciela, but he insists she give him the straight scoop on Alejandro. She tells him that, yes, Ale is alive and well and in Aguazul. He agrees not to tell Pedro. But she is going to have to pay him in advance for his services. They walk toward the house together so he can collect.

Josefina reports back to Victor that Nadia is doing well. But Pedro is worse than she thought -- what a misogynistic creep! Fina did read Victor's letter to Nadia and she sent one back to him.

Alejandro and Montserrat have a post-nookie snuggle in bed. Montse tells Ale that she is selling her house to JL. Ale doesn't like the idea. Montse explains how it came about when he walked in on her conversation with Carlota. And in a way, JL deserves to pay! He was the one who deprived her of the chance to be with Alejandro in the hospital in Buenos Aires when he opened his eyes.

Amelia is delighted that Victor has been able to see his daughter. She assures him that she will help him get his family back. And very soon, he will get to see Nadia. She has the perfect excuse, she says.

Alejandro will pay the money back to JL once he recovers his inheritance. Montse is pessimistic about proving his ability to prove his innocence since all the evidence has vanished. He explains about the real will and that it is now in María's possession. He went to talk to her the night before at La Escondida where she is dancing these days. She admitted she had the document, but wouldn't turn it over without something from him in return: ONE NIGHT!

Laurito has an eye-->mind moment. He is daydreaming about his time with Alejandro. JL joins him and wants to know why the boy looks so happy. Lauro is a natural liar (genetic?) -- he says it's because he scored a lot of goals playing soccer in school. JL has a gift for Laurito, a red soccer shirt (la playera de la selection). He has a green shirt for himself. They kick a soccer ball around the lawn.

Sandro lies naked in Graciela's bed. She has made an advance payment for his services, but he doesn't have to get all sickeningly sweet about it. (No me empalagues, huh?) After a moment like that, she needs her space.

He is feeling no pain -- he could die happy right now. She says that was just a little taste of what awaits him if he manages to get Benjamín's will for her.

Part Two

¡Perdon!
Refugio leads a pretty nifty mariachi band into his house and sings the lead part in their first song. Esmeralda can't help smiling, but then seems to remember how angry she is. She applauds the band. "Bravo, guys -- not you, Refugio!"

Maria flounces off the stage, returns to her dressing room and finds the wrong half of the golden couple waiting for her -- Montserrat. Montse is grinning. Perhaps she is amused at the blonde wig, María's pathetic attempt to convert herself into the woman Alejandro loves.

Montse says she knew Maria would end up like this. Maria retorts that Montse is just like her, cheating on Ale and then on JL.

Montse makes it clear: "A JL, lo quisé; a Ale, lo amo -- es una gran diferencia." (I loved JL; I LOVE Ale -- there's a big difference but you have to speak Spanish to capture it in a single word!)

But she's not there to justify herself to Maria. She's there to tell her that Alejandro is HER man and she'll use everything she has to hold onto him. Alejandro told her everything. And if he wanted Maria, he would have accepted her proposition. Maria is sure he wants her -- he only turned her down because he didn't want to betray Montse. Montse explains that's because Ale not only wants her, he respects her, he loves her. She's never had to resort to trickery to hold him.

Maria isn't giving up the will unless Alejandro gives her one night -- his chance to be with a REAL woman. If Montse wants Ale to recover the authentic will, clear his name, recover his apellido and his fortune, Montse will have to convince him to pay Maria's asking price.

Nothing doing, says Montse. "Alejandro is mine and he always will be. You'll never have him."

After Montse leaves, Maria looks in the mirror and mocks Montse's last words in a sing-song voice: "Nunca lo vas a tener. bwahaha."

Dimitrio rushes past Manuela and enters his mother's bedroom without knocking. He is just in time to catch Sandro sitting on her bed getting dressed, and Graciela herself with exuberant bedroom hair and open robe, in her favorite place -- in front of her mirror. Dimitrio wants out, but Sandro tries to stop him. He wants him to know that he and Graciela are in a serious relationship. Graciela asks Sandro to leave so she and Dim can talk.

The Mariachi band performs a second song. Esmeralda is having a hard time holding onto her pout.

Dim tells his mother she can do whatever she wants with her life. All he asks is that she stay away from Monica.

Refugio doesn't want to lose Esmeralda. Does she still love him? Of course she does. Then what does he have to do to convince her that she is the love of his life?

Part Three

He kneels and pulls out a diamond ring. He makes a heartfelt proposal. She accepts. But the ring doesn't fit because her finger is swollen. He puts it on her pinkie. They kiss.

Dimitrio's attitude hurts Graciela so much. What can she do to prove her sincerity? Dim doesn't believe a word she says. He is in love with Monica. (Is this the first time he has said this?). If she has any maternal feeling at all, then she can prove it by leaving them alone.

Montserrat returns home and finds JL and his cane awaiting her. He sweeps the cane across the keyboard of the piano in the entry hall, and reproaches her for the late hour. Where was she? At the cafe. He blocks the staircase with the cane, then lets her pass. As she goes upstairs, he pounds out several angry piano notes with his cane.

Refugio and Esmeralda are happy. For the first time in ages, their theme song starts playing. They begin to tear off each other's clothes. Then Esme gets a pain in her back. It goes away. They reach for one another ... the pain is back. They have to go to the hospital!

False alarm! An ultrasound shows all is well, but several hours later, it is clear that Esme isn't in labor. She has two weeks to go.

Amelia comes calling at the Medina house. Victoria is thrilled to see her. Nadia is surprised, but she knows Amelia has been kind to her daughter, so the surprise is not disagreeable.

Pedro sees Amelia and wants to know what the hell she is doing in his house.

The doctor calls Esmeralda's bluff: if she wants to have this baby now, she can go under the knife right now. The knife? Nooooooo! What can they do? They can go home and have sexual relations. It's not only safe, it might help trigger labor. "Let's go home right now," says Esme "y nos damos un encerrón." The doctor tries hard not to laugh.

Amelia tells Pedro she is happy to see him. She missed him. He says her presence makes his wife uncomfortable. However her poise, prudence, obedience, and patience are qualities that she could help Nadia work on. He has to leave, but he will leave the two together. He kisses his women on the lips and goes.

Amelia leads Nadia into the garden so they can talk.

EZ is on the phone with someone (presumably JL). He will do what he can as long as his name is kept out of it, he says.

He ends the conversation quickly when Carlota walks in. Carlota repeats all she learned about Nadia. And what with Montserrat separated from...

From who?

[Cue the chorus of doom}

...from her best friend, Nadia! Carlota wants to visit Nadia. Can EZ help? EZ agrees. He'd actually like to talk to Pedro. They can go tonight.

[The chorus of doom is getting noisy. Maybe they're ornery because they're hungry.]

Montse and JL pass papers in the notary's office. JL hands Montse a check for the amount agreed upon. By the way, he asks, has she had any more dizzy spells? Is her period late? No and no. And she doesn't want him asking her those questions again.

The situation reminds him of the time she sold her land and gave him a suitcase full of cash so they could run away together. How he wishes she loved him like she did back then. She wishes a lot of things too -- one of them is that he'd let her go.

Avances: Alejandro's dilemma -- escape on JL's dime, or a night with Maria to get back the key to his fortune.

Eli, what a bummer! Thanks for letting Julia R know what was happening so we had a space to vent!

Hope your computer and cable woes are over very soon!

If anyone else is working on a recap, forgive me. I can easily delete mine.

Gosh no...don't delete NovelaMaven.
Loved:

"no me empalagues"

{Graciela} in her favorite place, in front of her mirror

{Esmeralda} having a hard time holding on to her pout

and including a new word for me:

Great stuff. Thanks for doing double duty and with flair...

Thanks NovelaMaven, very nicely done.

Wasn't that a pretty yellow print summer dress that Amelia was wearing?

Carlos

Hi all,
Question is there ANY thought that there is still a chance that Maria is the real long list Benjamin bebe and not Fabby? I've not seen enough TNs but someone once commented that it would be highly unusual for the protaganista to have two babies from two different men. Is that taboo, but not mommy and daughter bedding the same dude?
Sorry for your troubles Eli and thx for your recap Novela Maven.
Rebecca

Thanks, Novela Maven!

Jarifa

You're welcome, my friends. It's what telenovela addicts do for each other, right?

Judy, those were delicious words, weren't they?

Carlos, I thought Amelia looked especially lovely in that dress too.

Rebecca, It's funny you should mention the possibility that María might turn out to be Graciela's daughter after all. I was thinking the same thing when Graciela was bragging about her skills in the boudoir -- she sounded so much like María. (And you know the writers wanted us to think that.) It really could go either way.

But brother-sister incest is far worse than a mother and daughter sleeping with the same man. So if María is Graciela's spawn, then it's unlikely that Alejandro will accept her proposition.

Jarifa, my pleasure!

Wow, Novelamaven..Thanks so much for that quickie recap. It was filled with fun and facts. I appreciate the retelling since I did not see this episode.

So both Graciela and Malria have...emmmm....special skilz.

Sorry Eli for your probs. Thanks NM for the recap.

Do you really think that Ale will sleep with Maria? I would think that would be something that Mons wouldn't forgive. Considering how stupid Maria is, I'm sure they could find another way to get the will from her. No one thinks things through in this TN.

Excellent recap, NovelaMaven. Thanks for jumping in to help us all out.

Fabiola seems to also be very deluded about her seduction skills, but is often addled by wine. If she were off the booze, I'm sure she would also put more effort into her bedroom skills and brag about it like Maria and Gracie.

Remember, Fina also has amazing bedroom skills and left Dim surprised and wanting more. And Monse must also be doing something right in the bedroom since JL and Ale can't seem to get enough. The ladies of Agua Azul are apparently talented-- not in the boardroom but in the bedroom. :)

Eli,
Sorry to hear of your technical difficulties. Don't worry about the recap. We can discuss amongst ourselves.

Julia,
Thanks for setting us up for the discussion.

I have no time to discuss. Boooo! Very busy at work. Just wanted to stop by say hello and gracias!

Back to work...hasta pronto!

NM,
I just saw your recap, but have not read it. Thanks! I hope to enjoy it later.

Holy Cow, NovelaMaven! Yet another recap! Thank you so much. I zoned out just when Alejandro was telling Montserrat about The Maria Proposition. Gotta say, I loved that look on Boyer's face during that scene.

So sorry, Eli that you are without cable. I just have a lousy over the air antenna, but after MUCH finagling, I've been able to position it such that I can get this novela. It's pretty fuzzy, but I can get the gist of the action. What I miss, I check out on Hulu Plus (a life saver).

So, JL used his cane to block Montserrat's way up the stairs. How far away is he from using physical force?! That is a worrisome move in my book.

NovelaMaven, thank you for your answer to my question yesterday re the Adolfo/Fina relationship. The whole thing took me by surprise, so thanks so much.

RomyI appreciated your comments as well re the Adolfo/Fina relationship. Thank you!

I do not find Sandro physically attractive in the least. I know I am in the minority, but he does nothing for me. Now, Mr. Adonis Rulli,I'll take him home right now. :))

Fatima

Pls any online site to watch recent episodes I missed a lot

Good stuff, NovelaMaven.

Carlos de la Mota (Refugio) wasn't singing; he was lip-synching to a recording by Pablo Montero.

Now to what's really bugging me: Where does Maria get off saying that Monserrat isn't "a real woman"? This kind of female arrogance gets on my last nerve.

Enjoying the conversation, you all are so funny. I just wanted to say I was surprised that I didn't read any mention of "Alejandro cakes", (surely I missed it.) that Laurito referred to when Ale made him pancakes. It was so cute..and I smiled, thinking he sure is. "Alejandro cakes" not to be gross, but yummy. Novella lover.

Everyone seems to call Maria BM. What does BM stand for?

Anon 1:31:

I came up with BM. In order not to offend anyone, with cussing so to speak, it refers to Maria as a b*tch, hence BM.
