De Que Te Quiero, Te Quiero #134/135- Wednesday 7/16
In the morning over breakfast, Nat and Carmen don’t really discuss what happened the night before but do talk about alt-Angie or the character formerly known as Angela (as I won’t accept what the writers have done). Mally and Abdul join them and Carmen offers her alt-Angie’s job.
Carmen calls El and Kimmy answers, Carmen’s ticked.
Rod throws the wrench away and Big Al appears.
Nat arrives at the hospital and tells Irene she and Diego are over (but we all know its only for now).
Rod attempts to slime Brat at work. He tries to sweet talk her but she doesn’t fall for his lines nor his promise of making it worth her while to get rid of her child.
The only Al left visits the Carceres home to talk to Mr. T. Mr. T. will talk to little Al but not his wife, so at least one character our tn has grown in wisdom. Unfortunately Grumps comes in as Al tries to get answers from Mr. T. Grumps throws Al out and tells Hilda not to let him back in. Poor Mr. T. just cries.
Tad is getting ready for his treatment and the organ of doom briefly plays. I want to let you all know now, if he doesn’t survive this episode I’m going to go into a ragey fit. I’m on Team Tad though there are some signs that point to the fact that he is an inconvenient character and must be removed for Irene to get with the surviving Al. I continue to despise the writers for this potential outcome, alt-Angie, and the nonsensical Nat/Diego coupling.
Diego calls Irene and wants to talk. He’ll arrive at the hospital later and Nat is fine with this as long as he doesn’t talk to her. Andres arrives with coffee. Later, Diego tries to talk to Nat. She shuts him down and Andres makes him go away.
Al calls El and lets him know he failed getting info from Mr. T.
Irene and Nat watch Tad in the hospital.
Montage/time passing with Diego depressed, Nat working for Andres, and Rod destroying Caprico but acting like he has it all under control. Grumps looks on possibly thinking about the losses but I need David’s suggestion of angina to come to pass now. Paolo (yeah), Abdul, Mally, and Mara hang out (the guys play chess and the young women talk) and Nat goes to dinner with Andres. Diego relives his foolishness and cries. Mally moves in with Mara. Rod can’t sleep and is still haunted by Big Al. Morales and Kimmy are still sneaking around.
Nat is going into the hospital for the procedure. In the next scene, we’re at Tad’s house with Irene bring Tad home and he seems much better. Hurray, one less thing I need to hate the writers for. Andres and Carmen are also there and Nat introduces Tad to her novio.
Diego is having lunch with his potential new bosses. He sees Nat and Andres and interrupts their kiss. She isn’t happy to see him and he looks like a small, wounded animal. Nat is distant with Andres, he gets her attention and wants to know what she is thinking about. When she says it’s not Diego, he says to himself he won’t make Diego’s mistakes of mistrusting or being jealous of Nat. This is sad because Andres is a sweet guy and unless these writers really throw us a curve ball, he’s eventually getting dumped. If the writers had left Angela the way she was (and not created alt-Angie), they could fall in love and mend one another’s wounded hearts.
Kimmy still has not broken up with El and Morales isn’t happy. He wants to tell but Kimmy keeps saying the time isn’t right. They plan some afternoon delight.
El comes by with flowers and Carmen shoot him down. If Kimmy remains in his home, El gets nada. El goes home possibly to break up with Kimmy but she’s not here. Guess where she is. El calls her and she and Morales pretend she’s watching an action movie.
Grumps goes to Rod’s room to complain about the lack of profits. Rod tells him some lies and Grumps demands results. It appears Rod is siphoning off money outside of the country (please let me know if that is right). Now when Grumps learns this, I’m sure heart palpitations will ensue.
Diego comes to Al’s and tells him about seeing Nat and how he still loves her. Al suggests Diego move on as Nat has. Another writer rant, feel free to skip this: I wish the writers would take this suggestion and not bring Al and Irene together. Al’s foolishness is on the scale of the World Cup or the Olympics. Irene still doesn’t know of his baby adventure with the formerly crazy Karina and still seems to be in love with Al. The worst part of this for me is that her relationship with Tad is so loving though we are supposed to believe its sexless. If passion = Al, then passion is clearly overrated. Rant over.
The boys, Al and Diego, are going to the same event at the French embassy that Irene and Tad are about to go to. Irene doesn’t want Tad to invite Andres because she believes Nat doesn’t really love him. Tad says Andres is a great guy and really loves Nat. Irene tries to make the case for people not being able to make up love and gets upset when Tad doesn’t see things her way. I guess this is foreshadowing the demise of her relationship with Tad. I’m just glad the writers appear to have let Tad live (at least for now).
Nat can’t sleep thinking about Diego and then thinks about kissing him. She can’t forget Diego and berates herself for using Andres. It’s so sad characters in tns can’t take a time out from dating once they break up with the supposed love of his/her life. The poor saps, who become the new novia/o, just get hurt badly.
El and Kimmy think about what the people they really love have told them. They stumble around trying to tell one another they want to break up but don’t.
At work, Andres notices Nat looks tried. Tad calls to invite them to the French embassy party.
Rosa brings some documents to Grumps. She notices he’s upset and he tells her how the money isn’t coming in. If Grumps were truly savvy in business, he’d realize he’s being taken but oh, well couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy.
Grumps sends Brat to get a DNA test.
Hilda tells Mr. T. to stop mumbling. The boys are checking out pretty women at the embassy and Al tries out his French. Thankfully the women speak both French and Spanish and are very kind because Al asked to sleep with them.
Kimmy and Morales continue to creep. They get so caught up in kissing that they fog up the car. The police arrest them but Morales doesn’t want Kimmy to tell them who he is.
The French/Mexican ladies the guys were talking to see Tad, Irene, Nat and Andres come in. They are excited that Tad is there because they study art and know his work. Little Al tries to dissuade them by saying Tad’s a tool (I’ll let tofie come up with a creative put down for the midget). The ladies get introduced to Tad. Of course, we then have awkward conversations with Irene, Nat, Andres, Al, and Diego. Nat runs to the ladies room, Diego, and Andres follow with Diego appearing in the ladies room. Irene and Al just stare with Tad looking uncomfortable in the background.
Diego begs to talk to her and Nat unleashes on him, ending the conversation saying Diego is dead to her. She runs into a waiter, who spills soup on the guess of honor, Paul with a last name that people would mock, Diego gives the man his jacket. Later, Paul gets introduced to Tad and Irene, who introduce him to Nat. Of course they know one another and it looks like the last Garcia baby-daddy has shown up. We now know where the Brat gets her fantastic personality.
Brat comes home late and boasts that Grumps asked her for a DNA test. Carmen is still mortified that the Brat is so ambitious. The conversation turns to her dad and it seems our Vivi may be right. I think Carmen hates Paul; she calls him shameless which is how Brat acts.
Paul, the French scientist realizes Nat is most likely Carmen’s daughter but the fact that Tad is saying Nat’s his daughter throws him. Thankfully for him, he is able to talk to Andres, who talks too much. Brigette’s father learns Carmen is in town (no longer in Tuxpan) and that he has a daughter.
Al comes begging to Irene. He tells her she looks great (and she does) and asks if she’s happy. For the record, right now I am NOT happy. He asks if he has a chance and her body language she yells YES. He suggests she get a divorce (I scream) but thankfully she says she won’t leave Tad. So this most likely means, Tad will have to give her up. While I hate this option, its better than Tad dying. Another rant/observation: Most of you who know me, know I love romance, I’m even writing a book about romantic comedies (its an academic book). I just wish more tns would take the Querida Enemiga route, in this tn the heroine got verbally abused by the supposed galan (typical misunderstandings and foolishness) but DID NOT pick him in the end. She picked the Hot Chef. If the writers have taken Big Al away, I’m willing for little Al to go so Tad does not end up alone. End rant/observation.
El comes to the jail to get Morales. He gets mad when he sees Kimmy there as well. El starts to strangle Morales. El acts hurt and humiliated while Morales comes clean about wanting to tell El earlier. Kimmy realizes El is more upset about Morales betraying him than her leaving him.
Nat comes home and finds Carmen asleep on the couch. She tells her about Paul, the French scientist being a “friend” of Brigette’s dad. Carmen doesn’t want any thing to do with him. Of course, Brigette over hears the conversation and asks why Carmen doesn’t want to hear from her dad. The Brat demands Nat give her the info after Carmen’s leaves the room. Carmen has a flashback where Paul tells Carmen a pregnant he wasn’t in love and he couldn’t take her to France because she’s poor. Nat calls Andres and Brat tries to pump him for info. She acts horrible and Andres doesn’t tolerate her witchyness.
El calls Carmen and tells her he doesn’t feel well. Initially, she doesn’t believe him and she hears him fall. When she goes to his apartment, he appears drunk (we find out his flu medicine has made him loopy). El manages to answer the door but passes out. Carmen manages to drag him to the couch. He tries to kiss her legs and just act silly. It’s a good thing he’s cute.
Brat goes to see Grumps to tell him about the price of the DNA. As he writes the check, we see Brat become eerily like Diana. Later Rod gives her a strand of his hair as he won’t go to the clinic with her.
Paul, the Brat’s dad, goes to Padre Juancho’s and doesn’t get the greeting he expected. PJ doesn’t want to give Paul any info. PJ relents and takes Paul see to the Brat because he wants to make sure Paul doesn’t lie. When they drop by the office, the Brat is waiting for a cab. Paul waits too long and the Brat the leaves
Diego visits with Simona Verduzco another textile engineer and supposed love interest for Diego. The plant where he would work is in another location so Diego has to think it over.
Rod overhears Rosa making arrangements for an audit of Caprico. I guess he’ll continue to get away with things until the last episode. When is Rosa going to bring out the will? Is she waiting for things to blow up?
Previews for Friday (no show tomorrow) – Diego begs Nat to forgive him and winds up hurting himself.

And Diego - oh, geez! JDC needs to practice emotional expressions in front of a mirror. His sad/forlorn/depressed crying face just makes him look like he's constipated!
Kim/El/Morales - boring!
Carmen's baby daddies got increasingly better looking, starting out with a 4 (Chato), then went to a 6 (Gino) and then a 7 (Abdul). I was expecting the Brat's daddy to be at least an 8, maybe even a 9 (think Gilles Marini), but no - what do we get? A darn 3! Paul Mushroom (Champignon) certainly didn't contribute anything to the Brat's DNA in the looks department, that's for sure.
And whether Natalia realizes it or not, she is still just using Andres (again)!
Top line of the day:
"Al's foolishness is on the scale of the World Cup or the Olympics."
I also love your description of Diego in the restaurant scene....
"He looks like a small wounded animal."
And certainly that is Alt-Angie. Some extraterrestrial alien has eaten her soul and injected its own venom there. No other explanation. Maybe she "channeled" the wrong spirit one night when she was messing with her crystals.
As annoyed as I am by the romantic foot-dragging of Kim/Morales...El/Carmen, I did get a kick out of El rolling off the couch and making a determined effort to wrap himself around Carmen's lovely legs. And yes, good thing he's cute!!! Otherwise....
Great recap, Karen. Now, in true telenovia fashion, take a "calmante" and relax. (Or else get to work on that book, lady! I'm sure it will be interesting.)
Loved the feel of the event at the French Embassy and Tad in his element and no wonder he just looks bemused at times all the kids playing dashing young prince & beautiful princess in his back yard. Every time Irene and Alonso eyeball each other my stomach turns and my esteem for her goes down a notch. He can't fall any further than a leg humping weasel to big for his pants. Rod whacked the wrong Al with that wrench.
Alonso - mama can we play now, please, I cleaned up my room
Nat - prima donna
Andre - she gorges on your attention but purges when you're not around
Diego - the redhead
El - dude, bros before ho....ur glass figures
Irene - somethings aren't meant to be
Brat's Daddy - in a million years never considered a cross between a wired Groucho and Larry Fine
Carmen - you did it with that guy, gross
Vincente - when you lose the house I want to drive the moving van
Tad - created your own legacy and everyone in your wake
Angela - who?
Hot Rod - gotta get while the gettin's good
Thank you for your hard work on this recap. I especially like "If passion = Al then passion is clearly overrated."
For some reason, I think people making out in cars and steaming up the windows and getting caught is really funny.
I don't use the little Spanish I know much out in public because I'm afraid I'll do what Al did and accidently ask someone to sleep with me.
I find Diego showing up in women's restrooms very offputting.
Karen, if I buy a copy of your book when it comes out will you autograph it for me?
Thanks again for your work and your wit.
David
Sorry, but there were just too many wonderful lines and I couldn't bear to pare my list down further than: “The only Al left”(sniff, sniff); "I’m on Team Tad though there are some signs that point to the fact that he is an inconvenient character and must be removed for Irene to get with the surviving Al"; (hear, hear) "The worst part of this for me is that her relationship with Tad is so loving though we are supposed to believe its sexless. If passion = Al, then passion is clearly overrated. Rant over"; " Thankfully for him, he is able to talk to Andres, who talks too much" but my favorite is: "If the writers had left Angela the way she was (and not created alt-Angie), they could fall in love and mend one another’s wounded hearts". Amen.
Loved your ode to Querida Enemiga which (as you know) was one of my favorites. And you are writing a book!! Oh my, you must let us know when it is published (academic is just fine). Congratulations amiga!
Yes, Anon - Alonso is like a vulture waiting to strip the carcass clean. His puppy dog looks are doing nothing for me either. And I was shocked at Brig's father too - I thought suave and sophisticated and he is far from it. Maybe I'm being hasty, but these seems to be little to like about him either. Looks like the personality is the only inherited trait. Sadly.
I enjoyed Morales’ sound effects, pretending to watch the movie. I think the actress playing Kim laughed for a second before returning to character. So now the cat is out of the bag so to speak.
Agree that Nat is using Adres and he deserves so much better. I loved the pink and yellow jackets he sported. Some men carry off color beautifully, and he is one of them. And he was very smart when he told himself not to act jealous as that was what caused Diego so many problems.
David: "I find Diego showing up in women's restrooms very offputting". Yes! And it is a very frequent occurrence!
So is Angela gone? She's been replaced at home and work so is she gone forever? A good character gone bad for no apparant reason. Ack. Why couldn't the writers just have paired Mally up with Andres??
"Angela - who?" tofie, you have that right!
Judy, I also loved El's crawling on the floor trying to wrap his arms around Carmen's legs. I hope the actors have had as much fun filming these scenes as we have had watching them.
Of all the stories, I will be most disappointed if Irene ends up with Alonso. Tadeo was quietly watching when Irene and Al were speaking. He is such a galan, I have no doubt that if the writers don't kill him off, he will likely step aside to give Irene the happiness he wants her to have (speculation - no spoiler). That would be unbearable.
Karen, thank you, thank you. Mavelous!
Diana
I am so glad El and Kim are over, and I loved the foggy car scene and the drugged up El scene. Now, let's hope it doesn't take El too long to forgive Morales. He did him a favor! He's rid of Kim, and didn't have to hurt her.
I'm glad Paul Mushroom isn't suave and handsome. But he is rich and famous, so Brig should love that. The flashback to him telling Carmen that he couldn't marry a poor woman who already had a kid (Abdul) and present her to his wealthy family, even though she was pregnant with his kid, definitely shows where Brig inherited it from.
Chato and Abdallah might have also bolted when she was pregnant, but neither of them told her that she wasn't good enough for them and look down their nose at her, like Mushroom did. I hope a few more of our characters spill things on him.
Nat seemed to be enjoying kissing Andres just fine until Diego popped up and reminded her that he exists.
I especially loved your commentary about the leads always immediately getting involved in a rebound relationship and the poor sap getting hurt.
Ay this show has become frustrating! I did love Mara and Mali hitting it off though.
I'm going to assume that was vichyssoise since Paul Mushroom didn't scream in pain when the soup hit him. I sort of suspected we would get this actor since Ms Suarez uses the same actors often. His hair was hilarious.
As for Nat, I also wish she had taken time to be by herself instead of immediately beginning to date Andres-- someone she knows has a long history of loving her. I would have even preferred that she had started dating someone totally different-- some new dude who wouldn't be totally destroyed about being the temporary rebound guy, like Andres will.
I am imagining that alt-Angie is away at a spiritual retreat recovering her TRUE self, and return ready to regain her friendship with the Garcia clan.
I predict Irene & Al to get closer again, only to be blown apart when she finds out about Karina & the baby.
Tad is #TeamAndres because Andres is playing the same role to Natalia that Tad is playing to Irene.
I think Andres knows the deal with Natalia, that she is still in love with Diego. I don't think he will be devastated or destroyed when she dumps him again. Disappointed, yes. Destroyed? No.
Angela didn't really know the Garcia family if she thought they'd turn away Mali for being sexually promiscuous. I think Carmen & Natalia would forgive her but Abdul is a ship that has sailed. Even if Angela had a chance with Abdul after the Jaiba affair, she destroyed it by getting Mali fired & Abdul & Mali thrown out of their apartment.
It's not time for Irene & Diego to find out the truth about Caprico yet. As long as Rodrigo is still there being enabled by Grumps, I say leave Caprico to Rodrigo/Grumps. Only after Rodrigo is out of Caprico should Irene & Diego find out the truth about the company.
I honestly think Tad is a good man who is willing to give Andres a chance. Irene was gracious but her facial expression clearly gave her thoughts away.
I think that perhaps subconsciously what you noted may be true. But he is a gentleman and I don't think that would be part of any conscious decision on his part.
I'm biased as to me, Tadeo is the true galan of this story (there were 2 until Alberto passed).
Diana
Anon @ 4 am - yes, Al was being very vulture-like. Now that Tad is healthy he was unhappy so now plan B is make passes at Irene. Ick.
JudyB - glad you were able to enjoy the recap. El was hilarious loopy (both actors appear to have enjoyed themselves and if there was a blooper reel it was a scream).
tofie - another great list, loved the moving van line, and yes the wrong Al got whacked.
David - ITA that Diego's appearances in the ladies room are wildly inappropriate. And I would be happy to sign a copy of my book for you, thanks.
Diana - thanks for your kind words and the A+. I do find that when the writers upset you, recapping can a commentary on their crazy decisions.
Vivi - I too hope El doesn't stay mad at Morales long since he got rid of El's Kimberly problem. It will be interesting to see how Brat receives her father. Perhaps as someone (I think Anon207) guess, they'll bond over their false aloofness and go back to France.
And on Irene, I didn't mean to be harsh on her, it's more so the writers. It seems tn love is consistently presented as passion without any sort of reason. A character is in love and then in a relationship with his/her one true love but something happens. Lately (though Jarocha mentioned older tns that do this as well), these tn break-ups have the galan doing reprehensible things that are clear signs that this person is not stable enough to be in a relationship with no matter how much protagonista loves him. The boys usually never get any type of counselling to correct this very destructive behavior, in the case of irrational jealousy (Diego) or making phenomenally bad decisions (little Al), but the perdonames win the day. The woman returns to the "galan" with no evidence of a chance in his behavior/character.
Presently, Irene is framed as settling in her marriage with Tad, and this is part the really vexes me. She is being noble because she cares for Tad but doesn't love him. However, a "loving" relationship w/Al will bring her a world of heartache because he makes really bad decisions. Love doesn't have to be this run away train that you have no control over. A person can realize that while I love him, a relationship with him will be very bad. I can choose to fall in love with someone else. It may not happen over night but it can happen.
Sara - yes Tad getting the shaft is muy mal but at least Mara and Mally are new BFFs (the writers just made alt-Angie vanish altogether it seems).
Anon207 - you are so right about Paul's wig! And I hope you are right about Andres. I think he does know that Nat is still in love with Diego. Also I think Tad is on TeamAndres because he heard & saw Diego's horrible rant on Nat. As Nat's father it may be hard to him to forgive Diego for that foolishness.
Since we don't know, and probably won't know, I'm just going to settle on that happy supposition.
Just wanted to make a comment about Mally because it's worrying me. I'm afraid one of her ex-customers is going to approach her while she's with Abdul and he's going to freak. It's one thing to say her past doesn't matter. It's another thing to have that past show up in the flesh. Only bright spot: I know that if that happens, he won't stay freaked forever. I think he and Mally are going to be together in the end.
Nanette
Is anyone else getting an ad in the box where the "prove you're not a robot" text/numbers usually are?
It works.
Wish we had kept a tally on how many times Diego & Nat broke up & made up.
They could have cut out at least 20 episodes w/o that nonsense.
Can't believe what they did to cute Bagre from La tempestad. Paul is Alejandro Ibarra.
Egad, what a change from LT and not a good one!
Diana
"Grumps goes to Rod’s room to complain about the lack of profits. Rod tells him some lies and Grumps demands results." and "If Grumps were truly savvy in business, he’d realize he’s being taken but oh, well couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy." This supports David's idea from yesterday that Grumps is NOT a good businessman. I'm pretty sure you don't just bark at your employees that you want results and it magically happens. Asking for an audit might be the first good business decision he's made!
"If passion = Al, then passion is clearly overrated." *applause*
"Kimmy realizes El is more upset about Morales betraying him than her leaving him." Yeah, I felt sorry for her for that, but she really can't sulk--she's got Morales to comfort her once his 72-hour "arrest" is over.
"Later Rod gives her a strand of his hair as he won’t go to the clinic with her." And that might be the best-case scenario. I couldn't figure out why Brat would want him to come to the clinic with her. That would give him a chance to bribe the techs.
"Carmen - you did it with that guy, gross" tofie, so right! I don't know which of him was the worst...the young him who could barely get any words out; the older him with the hair; or the full-on daywear version with the plaid jacket and the hair!
"I am imagining that alt-Angie is away at a spiritual retreat recovering her TRUE self, and return ready to regain her friendship with the Garcia clan." Vivi, I could live with that!
I think Irene's problem with Andres might also be jealousy. When he said, right in front of her, that Nat is working with him and he's even offered to set her up with her own clothing design business, I wasn't surprised that Irene was rude when she reminded him that Nat wouldn't be taking him up on the offer because THEY would be working on THEIR project TOGETHER. Maybe Irene doesn't like sharing Nat with Andres. She seemed less hostile towards him before they skipped ahead in time.
Irene & Natalia are in love with Alonso and Diego. These guys make them feel alive, on top of the world etc. etc. But they're not good for them. There's big time distrust in both relationships but there's lost of passion. Both relationships are filled with misunderstanding, people not communicating etc.
Contrast that with Tad and Andres. Both of these guys are patient, honest, hardworking, trustworthy, etc. They are who both Natalia and Irene SHOULD be with. They're just lacking the passion. BUT, is the passion worth it?
Looking from a father's perspective, no Tad would not want Natalia with some guy that runs up in her mother's house calling her a slut in front of her family (well he shouldn't call her a slut anyway), who didn't trust & believe in her. Andres does and always has and even if Natalia was the sluttiest slut who ever slutted Andres would still want to be with her, just like Irene could get drunk and sleep with Alonso today and Tad would still want to be there for her.
Variopinta - happy you stopped by. Yes we should have had a running tally for the number of times Nat & Diego broke up.
Kat - Glad my ragey recap wasn't off putting. ITA, I don't know why Brat would like Rod going to the clinic would be a good thing since she knows he doesn't care for her.
And great observation about Irene possibly being jealous of Andres and his offer to basically keep Nat away from Irene (Diego, Rod, etc) forever.
Anon207, ITA about your comments on passion. Ideally characters get this and integrity in their relationships. As JudyB noted, passion can only last so long when people are unstable and not kind, wise, and mature.
After all Irene has been through, specifically Al's silliness, I so want her to come to the realization that her passion w/Al will be fleeting (and they tried and failed already). And unless the writers kill off Karina, she'll have to deal with her as well. Karina has been ok for the past few episodes but like Al consistently making bad choices, when will a trigger turn her into stalker Karina again?
You are spot on - yes, Nat and Irene love and adore Diego and Alonso (not quite sure why frankly) and the passion is there. Yet, Tadeo and Andres never judge and always support. And as you noted, as a father and as a man, Tad certainly would prefer Andres for the reasons you stated.
Judy, you are so right - affection, respect and maturity are what lasts. Tadeo and Andres possess these qualities and characteristics. Diego and Alonso are both extremely immature and are not ready for and do not deserve Nat and Irene. You need look no further than Diego's "seduction" of Natalia or Alonso and Karina on the short list.
Thanks for setting me straight.
Diana
How great that you are writing a book. Have you written others ?
I do not want Nat to end up with Diego. I like Andres and his colorful wardrobe. He seems like a good guy , and he is crazy about Nat. Diego is not a galan so he does not deserve to win the leading lady.
Likewise, Tad exhibits the traits of a true galan..kindness, talent, intelligence. Last Al Standing Little Al is just annoying with the puppy dog eyes and constant pining for Irena while impregnating Craxy Karina. Basta. He is unprofessional, weak willed, and stupid. Move on, Little Al.
I like Carmen giving Mally a job and Mara and Mally teaming up. I think that those two will make good friends, and perhaps someday sisters-in-law.
Nanette - So you cover films that fall in the screwball era, yeah. It would be fun chatting!
He knows Natalia is still in love with Diego because of how she acts.
He further knows Natalia will run back to Diego (she's done it before) if Diego says the right things.
He knows that Diego is a dumb ass and vows not to repeat Diego's mistakes.
He knows that Brigitte was only buttering him up for a come-up after she learned he won the lottery.
And how cool is that? Andres wins the lottery and instead of spending it up, he buys a business to help his money grow. Sure, he bought cars and clothes thinking that's what Natalia would like but then he learned she's not about that golddigging life at all...Diego's money means nothing to her so Andres' money would also mean nothing to her. You see that he is trying to win Natalia over with kindness instead of gifts and flowers.
Diego has treated Nat terribly, but she still can't forget about him. Meanwhile Nat was using Andres to make Diego and Rodrigo jealous before he went on his trip and not only was he ok with that, he's now making every effort to be the perfect boyfriend.
Little Al has lost me. I liked the idea of him and Irene because it was an interesting story, but everything he said to her last night, he should've kept to himself. Bad form, sir.
Diego was an ass, but Andres does deserve someone who will love him back fully. Nat's been eye roll worthy and should've taken a boy break, but she is smart enough to know (with her head) that Andres is a better partner than Diego was and she is giving their relationship a chance. Unfortunately, since her heart is wrapped up in Diego, it's not really a fair chance.
Then again, I looked up info on LQLVMR and it looks like the two protagonistas started out with the girl in love with another dude and falling in love with the second guy.
Maybe there is no coming back from calling Nat a slut, but I'd like to see Diego grow and learn from his mistakes. Then again, I'd like to see all of the guys demonstrated some honest self examination and people in he** want rain. Oh well.
Querida Enemiga (from the same producer as DQTQTQ) was refreshing because we were totally expecting the heroine to go back to Galan #1-- he made the same mistake as Diego in thinking the heroine had cheated when it was all a set up. He made the further mistake of dating/sleeping with her former BFF after that. We were all pleasantly surprised when she fell for Galan #2 and chose him in the end. So perhaps we shouldn't give up hope.
I have nothing against Andres, but I do enjoy watching a couple mature into each other. The romantic in me wants Diego and Nat to realize sometimes loving someone means wanting then to have the best, even if that is not you. I also want to see Diego learn to control his temper when it comes to his bro or Nat and I want Nat to learn that you can't just quit on something when it gets hard. Sometimes you have to work in a relationship. Just like Andres reminded himself last night not to let jealousy run him, Nat has to learn not to expect other people to know what she thinks or feels just because they love her. Sometimes you have to tell your boyfriend of three months or husband of thirty years "I don't like when you x, y, z." Sometimes instead of only angrily/tearfully screaming/crying "why don't you trust me? If you loved me you'd trust me!" you need to calmly sit down and ask "What exactly did you see? Why would you believe that? Why would you think that I would do that?" And then have a conversation. And then, after you've put in work rather than just lip service, say "Ok. If that's really what you think of me, then I don't think this is going to work."
Actually, speaking of that, I thought Diego and Nat would have more trouble with the Rod attempted rape issue. Their consensual (sidenote: I find that spelling odd and ironic)-but-not-wanted act of dumbness is actually their bigger issue. Weird.
Also, I'm disappointed Champignon isn't more of a deadbeat. Oh well. Still hoping to see Brig go down. Last night I wanted Nat to say something about Brig pumping her for info in one breath and insulting her intelligence and basic existence in the next. No wonder she didn't call her folks and ask for the guy's name again. On the other hand, how did she not remember; she basically crashed into him.
In Robo, though there was a 1st love, the fact is that galan #2, who has done all those horrible things Vivi listed and writers still want us to pull for him, is played by Sebastian Rulli, who is gorgeous. So, basically this character/actor was the #1 guy from the beginning. The best looking guy in the room having characteristics of a villain is so not cool. It seems his attractiveness gives him a pass on awful behavior in the same way Jose Salinas's character in "La que no podía amar."
Susanlynn, I thought they hadn't gone through with it, but the reactions and conversations since make me think they have.

I still think they did the did. The line was some thing like "Ella se me entregó y no me frené."
And all signs point to Diego and Nat having congressed.
Of course, that assumes the writers have even given it this much thought and didn't just decide he needed to act like an asshat to heighten the drama.
I think you nailed it right there, Diva. But it's certainly been an interesting discussion.
