De Que Te Quiero, Te Quiero #136/137- Friday 7/18

De que todavía vive, todavía vive

WARNING: Tonight's episode was a masterpiece of apropos of nothing. It was all over the place and I find those kinds of episodes difficult to focus on.

The First Hour
Was really, really slow.
  • Rodrigo tried to make a transfer to his Cayman Island account. He gets the blue screen of death mid transaction. He confirms with the bank that the transaction was completed and takes the laptop to the IT guy.
  • A drugged Eleazar  sings and tells Carmen he wants to make a baby with her. She calls the doctor. When Eleazar wakes up from the injection the doctor gave him, he tells Carmen he and Kimberly are kaput. Carmen tells him to come see her and act just like he did while on drugs. We are subjected to time wasting scenes in which Alonso tries to hypnotize El so he can remember what he did under the influence.
  • Brigitte gets her prueba de ADN. The receptionist makes a point of explaining that if it's for a legal case the father has to be there, too. I'm sure this will come back to bite Brigitte on her barely covered azz.
  • Brigitte sees Paul Champignon on an interview show. He spills his guts about being in Mexico in 1989 and meeting Carmen Garcia Pabuena. Brigitte seeks him out. He is a chicken and avoids her at the hotel. He later buys both Brigitte and Carmen super expensive watches. Apparently Brigitte gets one just like Madonna. All Brigitte sees are dollar signs.
  • The recapper spends a lot of time snorting and adjusting her beanie because seriously, no one gives a hooty hoot about neuro psychologists, but everyone treats Le Mushroom character like  a rock star (see The Second Hour.)
  • El fires Morales, then takes it back. But Morales won't be working in El's department any more. He'll be working with the white collar crime unit. Oh??? Will Morales be the one to take down Rodrigo?
  • Wow, I almost forgot. Diego chases Nat around town with bigger and bigger displays of "perdóname." Even his fall off a building didn't move her heart.
  • That chick from La Tempestad is still around, too. She and Diego are still trying to close their business deal. (That's not code.)

The Second Hour
All hell breaks loose. Y'all may have to fill in some blanks. I know I'm going to miss stuff.

The IT guy shows Vicente Rod's computer and is explaining that he got it running again, but the first thing that popped up was the transfer of large sums of money. Grumps sees it, grabs his chest and faints. As they wheel him away, Rosa tells the IT guy to save everything on the computer to a disk and give it to her. Then wipe the laptop and give it back to Rodrigo.

Alonso researches drug therapies for stroke victims. He's hoping to help Tiburcio regain his speech and therefore explain what happened in the garden with Big Al. Diego can get in the mansion and administer the drugs. Le Mushroom may have weird hair and he may have treated Carmen like crap, but apparently he is hot stuff when it comes to stroke victims and ADD and he's the one whose work Al is researching. Al also gets a call from Karina. He's going to meet her at her doctor's appointment.

Rosa called Irene and Diego to let them know Vicente had an infarto. And it's bad this time. Kat may get to cover his demise on Monday. Vicente actually sheds real tears as he thinks about his past. Rosa comes to see him and tells him she won't do anything. Meh. I didn't pay close attention. They collude. He wants to see Irene.

Irene is busy getting coffee. She overhears Al and Karina discussing the baby. Well, Irene knows now. She calls BS on his "I love you" BS from the embassy party. Al tries to convince her it was just a business transaction. She isn't buying it. She has flashbacks to her doctor's appointment when she found out she was sterile. Tad comforts her, but thinks it's because of Vicente's health.

Meanwhile, Diego goes into to see Grumps. Grumps gets agitated, but he's not dead yet.

Adbul asks Mali to marry him. Paolo and Mara are happy for him. (I'm not going to lie, I am going to be watching La Gata for one reason: Pierre Louis.)

El goes to visit Carmen. They are *thisclose* to finally getting together when reporters show up at the door. All of Mexico wants to know about the lost love of famous neuro-psychiatrist Paul Champignon. Beanie adjustment in 3...2...1. El walks out during the media frenzy and goes to see his mom. He finally comes clean with her and she tells him to put on his well-fitting big-boy pants and tell Carmen.

Abdul tells Carmen about he and Mali getting married. Carmen is tearful, but happy.

The IT guy gives Rodrigo back his wiped computer. Rodrigo takes over Grumps office and the presidency. Rosa reminds him that Grumps is not dead yet.

Brigitte goes to see Grumps to inform him the baby is Rod's. She runs into Rod instead. Rod is probably right when he says all she's really worried about is losing the Grumps that laid the Golden Eggs.

The IT guy called Rosa. He said stuff. I think the copy of the hard drive she asked for is ready.

Avances
  • Looks like Rod is ready to get rid of Vicente.

A fellow Squirrel waiting for your Squirrley recap, Sara!!!

Fatima
A Squirrel

It's up.
SKWIRREL!!!

I'm glad Laura Carmine is still getting work at least. I've always enjoyed her performances, even as Pestercita in LT.

Cassandra G.

Sara, I too will be watching La Gata for Pierre Louis. Great job recapping tonight, since tonight's second hour was such a mess.

That last comment was also Cassandra G. Ugh I keep forgetting to type my name!

Sara, who is that handsome man in your photo/avatar spot?

Fatima
A. Squirrel

Dear Sara Squirrel,
I loved it...especially "barely covered azz"!!

How in the heck does Fish Lips walk around in some of her get ups?!

Fatima

Well, Cassandra G. you and I can watch and swoon over Pierre together. I'm still trying to figure out how I can get my daughter to the Televisa studios to meet him.

Fatima-I really wish I could remember who first coined "barely covered azz." It wasn't me. And I wish I could remember who suggested that perhaps there were built in underwear in the dresses. They truly do defy gravity. That's just a young picture of my Abuelo. Probably taken around 1938 or 1939. You can't see it, but in the corner he wrote "Te quiero de veras, Mildred" (Mildred is my grandmother.)

Sara, thanks for this recap.

I cannot remember who first commented on Brat's barely covered azz, (maybe tofie) but I think that it was I who suggested that perhaps shorts were attached to those short, tight dresses.

Wow, that marriage proposal was fast. I like Mali , and she deserves a good guy ad a good life after her hard scramble life.

I thought Ai recognized the new girl, but I did not realize that she is our very own Pestercita.

...hmmm....I thought I not Ai recognized the new girl. Sorry, I am sleepy.

Sara! Gracias for this recap!

"The recapper spends a lot of time snorting and adjusting her beanie because seriously, no one gives a hooty hoot about neuro psychologists, but everyone treats Le Mushroom character like a rock star." No joke! Holding all his calls, keeping potential groupies away from him. And I'm supposed to believe a neuropsychiatrist spawned Brigitte? A snooty French guy who's a total snob, sure, but...the dude understands the workings of the human brain. Brigitte understands the workings of the human...well, not the brain anyway.

"Kat may get to cover his demise on Monday." I hope so, though I feel greedy for even thinking it. Maybe Rod won't succeed. I mean, he's not exactly the most competent person. He'll probably get interrupted. I'd better not get my hopes up.

"You can't see it, but in the corner he wrote 'Te quiero de veras, Mildred'" I just love little details like that!

I dunno what I think about Brig at this point. I thought I was seeing a tiny spark of decency, but it seems to have evaporated. Oh, well.

I was bored with Diego's efforts to coerce forgiveness out of Natalia. I was impressed when he walked away, but then he just kept going. I want Nat to tell him she forgives him, but she's not going to date him again, so please quit trying. I don't know why they always want to tie those two things together. Forgiving someone doesn't mean you have to allow them to be in a position to hurt you again, it just means you're not going to carry around resentment.

Sara, your abuelo was a very handsome man! Looks like he was a romantic, too. I would love to have a photo with those kinds of scribbles on it!

5FT, Fish Lips looked her usual phony, scheming self. She can't seem to give it up.

Please, writers, please don't bump off Tad. I really think he and Irene are the perfect couple.

Fatima

Yeah, tonight might have been the final straw for Irene at last. So Tad needs to remember that he's not dying after all and bring back that lovin' feeling!

How utterly insulting that idiot Alonso was to Irene! Here he is proclaiming his undying love to this wonderful woman WHO IS STERILE and can barely speak of having more children and say THE THING HE WANTS MOST IN LIFE IS TO BE A FATHER! How stupid is he?

Sara: I wasn't able to see this, but thought your recap was excellent. Thank you for mentioning "I'm sure this will come back to bite Brigitte on her barely covered azz", a great line that bears repeating.

"no one gives a hooty hoot about neuro psychologists, but everyone treats Le Mushroom character like a rock star" and "She and Diego are still trying to close their business deal. (That's not code." were great. What a wonderful flair you have for writing.

Your abuelo was very handsome.

I will join you and Cassandra at the Pierre Louis table.

So if Grumps does go down, it won't be because he is stricken with grief and remorse over the lies and manipulations that devasted Irene, it will be because of the mighty dollar. How utterly fitting. "Vicente actually sheds real tears as he thinks about his past". Umm, really? Too little too late.

Kat, I hope that Irene is now finally able to move on from Alonso. Yes, her handsome husband is new and improved and I would not waste one more minute. Everything she needs is right there, waiting for her.

Fatima, dare we hope that Tad is truly out of danger??

So, has El not really forgiven Morales as he transferred him to another department?

Thank you Sara. I really appreiate all the time, care and effort.

Diana

"WARNING: Tonight's episode was a masterpiece of apropos of nothing. It was all over the place and I find those kinds of episodes difficult to focus on."

See...this is why I love you Sara. Absolutely right..this was an attention-wandering episode. (alright, not when El and Carmen are canoodling, and not when sweet Paolo is on the screen...but otherwise).

Everyone loved "comes back to bite Brigett on her barely covered azz" and so did I. But here's the scoop! I watch New York Med and one night they showed a urology surgical resident (little slip of a 28-year-old gal, very endearing) who finally decided to have a social life and go out on the town with some friends. She was wearing a Brigette dress. Seriously! A real live person. Educated. Intelligent. Barely covered! And c'mon, there's no room for underwear there. Even a thong would show. Well, enough of this speculation.

I was wool gathering during the Morales transfer but wow! you're right, maybe HE will discover Rod's white collar crime. Then El will forgive him and all will be well again.

Now. Drum roll. Here is my VERY FAVORITE LINE.

"He said stuff."

Yeah, sure, he was talking about how he jinxed the computer for Rosa, but that could also cover any business discussion for me. Just love it. Actually, come to think of it, I hear some conversations everyday that could be covered that way. Or...He said the same dang stuff over and over again...like I've been listening to for 45 years!!!!

Hmmmm...I feel better now.

Oh, and those lame hypnosis sessions. His voice tone was good, but he went too fast. And a three-count was way too fast, regardless of diction speed. I was hypnotized for the labor and birth of my third child and it was marvelous. The hypnosis took place when I was at the 6 month mark. My husband was supposed to repeat it every day until I gave birth. He didn't. But I did. And it was fabulous. Wish I could have done that for the previous two. Hypnosis can truly be amazing.

Hi, Sara,

Well, you are the last one to have to deal with these marathon two hour sessions, right? I can't tell you how much I have appreciated the hard work you ladies have done on these episodes!

Regarding Brat's "barely covered Azz"...I was watching a morning news show a few weeks ago where a beauty contestant was being interviewed, and they asked her how the contestants dealt with keeping their scanty bathing suit bottoms in place. She said that in order to keep the contest from going from a PG rating to an XXX rating, they use a material she called "butt glue" to keep the bikini bottoms in place. So maybe Brat uses butt glue?

Don't know what to make of Diego's attempts to get Nat back. Surely he seems contrite and back to his former self, but the damage he caused was severe, so He has a ways to go.

I don't understand El's attitude toward Morales. The guy did El a favor, for crying out loud. The thought that Morales could be the one to take Rod down because of bookkeeping rather than because of all his vicious deeds reminds me of how they got Al Capone.

Thanks again, Sara for your hard work and insights.

David

My only concern with Tad is that he's planning a retrospective exhibit. If that doesn't have dead man walking all over it I don't know of what does.

Diana, I SO hope that the wonderful Tad is out of danger. It would be wrong, wrong, wrong for Irene to not be with him.

Fatima

Thank you Sara! I wish I'd read the recap first; it was funnier than the show.

Not sure if this was meant to be funny, but it made me laugh: "A drugged Eleazar sings and tells Carmen he wants to make a baby with her. She calls the doctor. " If that is the note they end on, I want an adorable scene with him and Lupita in which he explains that she'll always be his special girl/partner in crime.

You are not alone with the beanie adjustments. Was that show supposed to be like a late night talk show or something? Like a boot leg Colbert Report meets Good Morning America? I also think you right about Morales eventually being on Rod's case, literally. BTW, El is adorable, but I don't like the way he handles his job AT ALL.

The chick from La Tempestad = Amor Bravio's Brigette (down to a weird lip situation, imo). And for those reasons, I am prejudiced against her.

They've lost me on most couples in this tn.
Nat/Diego-eh, don't care too much.
Andres/Nat- Andres deserves better.
Tad/Irene-ok, that works
Karina/Alonso-::Shrug:: Ok, why not. Good luck to the kid.
Irene/Alonso-unnecessaryily ridiculous across the board.
Paolo/Mara-wish we'd gotten to see more.
Abdul/Mali - wow, wasn't expecting marriage so soon, but ok. Are they still editing down their love story as well?
Overall, I'm realy disappointed. They had the setup for a lot of really interesting stories and they either edited them out or made the characters so illogical, that their coupledom would make little sense or inspires little interest.

Sara, you never disappoint. Hooty, Hoot

Susanlynn, I can't take credit for barely covered azz, perhaps Vivi

I put away my beanie on this one long ago and now don a hard hat for protection.

Rosa - way over thinking this

Diego - you're not doing this for her but for you

Mali - think I could get away with an off white wedding dress?

Alonso - little pin prick

Irene - and you're surprised

Tad - your wife is a nut case, good luck

El - watch your step, a Garcia test is likely a trap

Vincente - die sucka

Karina - wombs for let 50 cents

Paul - you're gonna be soooo proud

Lupita - how did you sleep through all that

Hot Rod - that's El Presidente, got it

Whoops, forgot:
Kim/Morales-go forth and be happy children.
Carmen/Eleazar- I do want to see their story play out.

Sadly, my dislike of Brigette is my main reason for watching now. I just want to see her get her comeuppance and see if she tries to sabotage C&E in an attempt to get her parents together.

Anon2:08 - Does Alonso know Irene is sterile? I thought they got into a fight/broke up before she told him. Also, whatever because nothing about his character makes much sense.

Tofie-sorry! I just realized I used your list format! Sorry, wasn't thinking.

Also, thank you for Karina's note, I thought I was sleeping and misheard Alonso, but he really did tell Irene it was like renting a womb, right? Wow. His character assasination is complete.

HellaShelle, don't be silly we're all friends here and cross pollinate. That's the fun.

tofie...thanks for the giggles. Your one liners are a treat to savor.

5ft, I liked your "Brigitte understands the working of the human...well, not the brain anyway."

Judy, you utilized hypnosis for your 3rd delivery? That's awesome!

Tofie, "wombs to let 50 cents" was to me perhaps your best quip yet. I was a senior in high school when Roger Miller came out with "King of the Road" and remember it and his wit well.

David

David, had Roger Miller in mind, good catch

tofie, "cross pollinate" and "wombs to let"! I love, love, love your lists, tofie!!

Fatima

Wow Sara, Way to make a mess into a readable, laughable bullet pointed list!! You have all been awesome sticking it out with these two hour episodes which are so badly cut, they often are confusing. The recappers rock!!

So many of the stories are beyond boring now that I look forward to hearing how Rodrigo kills or tries to kill Grumps next week. (What a sick way to amuse myself, no?) I will be up in Santa Fe with no Univision so will look forward to reading the scintillating recaps here to see who gets screwed next...

Good to know, Cheryl...I'll make sure not to skimp on describing any of the screwing...or the screwing over :D

Alonso doesn't know Irene is sterile b/c the day she found out and went to him was the day he confessed he slept with Karina. Karina had been stalking Irene & sending her text messages (which Natalia intercepted) and Natalia told Alonso to come clean with Irene.

Irene might have handled the rent a womb situation better if the rented womb wasn't Karina's.

Alonso presented to Irene this is just some woman that agreed to be a surrogate mother and turn it over to him at birth. Has he not considered Karina wants the child as much as he and will have, at best, joint custody? He will have some type of relationship with Karina for life. Astounding to me he has any patients and with his rationale fear most will leap off a bridge. No wonder Irene is still a mess and should ask for a refund.

Sara, thanks for your great recap. The episode was all over the place. And thanks so sharing about the pic of your abuelo.

Kat, I so agree with you about forgiveness and resuming a relationship being two totally different things.

tofie - Al's foolishness is frighten. When asked why Karina, he said she force/overwhelmed him. His continued hope of getting w/Irene better not be the writers foreshadowing their union.

You know... Tad is no where to be seen in any of the bumpers. That can't be good either. Still, I am hopelessly Team Tad.

Sara...yes, I am definitely Team Tad mostly because I do not want Irene to be stuck babysitting Alonso Pan the rest of her life. This guy needs a refresher in professionalism, and he has to wake up and realize that he is a grown up and no longer a frat boy. Geez. How did this dude ever get those degrees ???? I take that back because I happen to know several people with high IQs and degrees who are not so good when it comes to common sense.

Well if something happens to Tad that leg humping weasel will be on Irene trying to comfort her and she'll let him hump away.

Still don't know about Alonso's recent idea to use Paul's data for a dope cocktail and have Diego administer the drugs to Tiburcio. Whatever could go wrong.

That is what slays me about Alonso the leg-humper: he is often the thinking one and the one drawing correct conclusions (like this business with Mr T being a witness), but then he just does bone-headed things (like convincing Diego to administer the drugs to Mr T.)

Sara- Sorry to be away from the fun all weekend, but I just watched the episode. I loved your all over the place recap-- perfect for these episode.

I loved the Carmen-El scene in the beginning. I laughed when Diego fell from the harness and Nat just walked away. And I laughed when Grumps collapsed as soon as he saw how much money Rod had stolen from the company recently. It's amazing that Rod's money laundering caused the big one. Not his identity theft or attempted murder of his brother; not the revelation of his rape attempt(s) of Nat; not the suspicion that he killed Alberto. We definitely know where Grumps priorities are. I felt not one thing as he had his Scrooge moment, remember some of his dastardly greatest hits and shedding a tear.

Things were getting pretty hot and heavy between Abdul and Mali! Yowza! I am sure they will have a great time on their honeymoon.

The Brat deserves the weaselly, snooty father she got. I can't wait for her to find out that she matters as little to him as he matters to her (she just wants a sugar daddy). I notice that she wore one of her more decent dresses when she went to the hotel to see him.

I can't remember who first mentioned Abdul's attraction, but I've paid closer attention to him since and yes, he's a hottie. Mali got her a catch.

Kat was right on Tuesday. I guess I'm sticking with this for the cuties.

The Garcia boys have far less drama in their relationships than the Garcia girls, that's for sure. I almost want us to jump ahead 10 years so that we can see what Lupita's love life will look like. I am sure she'll be smarter about it than Nat or Brat, that's for sure.

I was glad El finally got around to telling Luz how he feels about Carmen. Her main worry is the same one Padre has-- that the two of them would ruin a great friendship with a bad relationship, and that they would fight all the time. I like how Luz basically told El to man up and step up, and no, she would not help him.

Vivi, I was thinking the same about the boys and if Abdul marries will be the first Garcia to tie the knot (legitimately because Nat married the wrong twin). I just wished he had not shacked up with Jaiba & treated his mama so badly, but that lead him to Mali.

I will be very disappointed if my sweet pea Lupita becomes a drama queen like her sisters, stringing good guys along and lusting for frat boy twins. Nat & Brigitte are lost causes so maybe Paolo & Mara, Abdul & Mali can be relationship models for her.

Nah, Lupita will be ok. Drama Queens drama queen because they don't know how to get things done. Lupita knows how to get things done!

Tofie- I am sure Lupita will be more like her brothers than like her sisters in matters of love. Actually, I see her breaking many hearts of men who love her and for whom she has no feelings or shows any affection. She will wait for the right man and won't jump at the first boy who shows her a bit attention or kisses her. And if she herself doesn't scare them off, El will. :)

Diva...I like your thought about why drama queens are drama queens...right on the money and so true.

Irene's situation reminds me of this one show titled, "Soy tu Fan." I caught a preview of the finale of it and it went like this; Carla (coughIRENEcough) had to choose between her two galanes; Nicolas and Julian (Julian played by Osvaldo Benavides BTW) I remember she said one gave her what she wanted (coughALONSOcough) but the other gave her what she needed (coughTADEOcough.) I need to get on watching this series.

Ah....isn't that the truth....one provides what she wants and the other what she needs. The best result is when what you want is what you need. Then, when you find someone who provides what you want and what you need....BINGO !!!!

Vivi in DC, absolutely agree with you re your assessment of that precious Lupita. I love that child and I am not really a child kind of person. I'd gladly have Lupita around. I think I am not a child person because too many of my friends have children who are entitled little monsters. I can barely take being around them.

5FT, excellent observations why drama queens are drama queens!

Fatima

Random observation: Anyone else notice the THREE giant pitchers of delicious looking juice when Nat went to have breakfast with Irene and Tad? One orange, one yellow, and one green. That's a lot of juice for just three people, and it all looked fresh squeezed/made. That lone maid must work her butt off.

Vivi, I did not notice the incident you were talking about, but the color of the fruit juices on these tns have always seemed a lot brighter than what I am familiar with.

David

David- I love fruit/veg juices. My father makes them fresh at home with fruit from the Latin/Caribbean since I was a little kid. But never three different ones at the same time. :) Traveling to tropical places is always a treat because they are experts at making all sorts of amazing fruit juices-- Mexico is one of those places you will see corner juice stands with multi-colored delights. It always amazes me that most of our restaurants only offer orange, apple and cranberry juice. Rarely do you find a place that will take advantage of seasonal fruits to make something like watermelon juice. Yum!

Vivi, I live in an area that grows a LOT of watermelons, but I never heard of watermelon juice. Do you grind it up in a food processor so you get the pulp or do you squeeze it out so you just get the liquid?

Our twin girls love watermelon to the point that you have to take it away from them. I'll bet they would like watermelon juice too.

David

David- Here's a Mexican recipe:
http://www.food.com/recipe/mexican-watermelon-agua-fresca-1-ww-point-370541

David- Look at some of these beautiful Mexican juices (aguas frescas) on this blog page: http://desertpassion.blogspot.com/2011/03/agua-fresca-and-agave-nectar-what.html

Vivi, I looked both of those up, and I'm definitely going to make some for the grandgirls. And yes the visual appearance of the agua frescas on the other page are stunning.

About the watermelon recipe, my wife said it sounds like a lot of work for something that doesn't have any alcohol in it.

David

LOL! She could always add a shot of rum or tequila to her glass.

Oops, meant to say thank you very much for this info, Vivi.

David

Rick Bayless posted pictures of some very colorful aguas frescas the other day...but he didn't say what they were.

Hilda is so dedicated to Tad! I hope he pays her well.
