Lo que la vida me robó, ep. 179, Tues 7/22/14: You can never find a forensic psychiatrist when you need one.

We have known three police chiefs in our time in Aguazul -- Loreto, Basurto and Álvarez -- and all have abused their power.  But the present officer-holder may be the most loathsome of the bunch.  Here he is, just happening to stroll by as Montserrat comes out of the church and sees that her van has been trashed, smashed and slashed.  The windows are shattered, the tires are flat and the word ZORRA is painted in large black letters on its side.

¡Qué barbaridad¡ says Chief Álvarez.  "What an outrage!"  (But his smug expression belies his words.)  He'll have his men  investigate the incident, he says.

Montserrat isn't fooled.  She knows very well that he's responsible, and that it's no coincidence that he is there to enjoy her reaction.  (And he is enjoying himself.  He looks like a dog sniffing around its own steaming excrement.)

He is unfazed by her accusations -- let her file a complaint against him.  It won't do her any good because he had nothing to do with it.  He just saw her coming out of the church and he wanted to say hello.

Montserrat is getting sick of his cowardly attacks.  The day before, he threatened her, and today...

Álvarez cuts her off and corrects her:  "You're the one who threatened me, hm?  What do you think the judge will think when he knows that?"

Then he adds sententiously: "What if our daughter had been in that car?"

Montserrat plays the big brother card

Captain Dimitrio Mendoza doesn't trust Mad Dog Álvarez either -- he's already investigating him.

José Luis responds in a mocking singsong: "Ooh, I'm so afraid." He is so confident of his innocence that he offers to accompany her to the District Attorney's office so she can file a complaint against him.

"No thanks," says Montserrat. "That's what I have a husband for."

José Luis will be waiting for him, he says.  And then he strolls away nonchalantly.

Just when I thought I was out...

#1 -- Kill EZ

Adolfo won’t work for Pedro anymore. He doesn't want to kill anyone else. But Pedro reminds him he is in this thing for life.  And right now he needs the Scorpion to help him regain control of the business -- and to help him get rid of the other traitor who sold him out to the Marina and rose to the top in his absence.

The Scorpion's first job will be to slit the well-fed throat of Ezequiel Basurto.  And if he doesn't do the job within 48 hours, Josefina will suffer the consequences.

Basurto puts on a good front, but he's on edge...

Ezequiel sneaks up on Carlota as she sits placidly reading a magazine.  Boo!  Hahaha.  He gave her quite a scare!  He has another surprise for her, a beautiful necklace as a thank you gift for finally getting Graciela out of the house.

A bit abashed at the mention of her sister-in-law, Carlota fills him in on Graciela's recent diagnosis.  He's sorry to hear it, but there's nothing they can do for her, he says.

There is a sudden sound of clanging metal.  EZ reacts by crouching for cover, and pushing Carlota down behind her chair.  What happened?

The maid apologizes for dropping some pots.  EZ flies into a rage at her stupidity; and then he turns to comfort Carlota, who is stunned both by his reaction to the noise and his subsequent outburst. He thought it was a shot, he tells her.  She doesn't understand why he's so nervous.  He brushes off her concern -- it's just silly stuff (tonterías).

#2 -- Scam Dimitrio

Pedro has another assignment that Adolfo is uniquely qualified to carry out: since Adolfo has been hanging out with his friend Dimitrio Mendoza, he wants him to feed Dim false information that will keep the Marina off Pedro's back.  If Adolfo refuses, Dimitrio will find out that Adolfo was the one who shot Mónica.

Pedro has had enough fun with Adolfo for today.  He orders his thugs to give him the attention he deserves.  The brutes put a black hood over Adolfo's head and lead him away.

This is too much!

Alejandro can't believe his eyes when Montserrat shows him the vandalized car and describes JL's smug behavior.  "Who does that imbecile think he is?" he fumes. "I'll kill him before I let him hurt us!

It took a little work, but she gets to Dimitrio too.

Dimitrio has come to visit his mother in the hospital.  Dressed in black from head to toe, she sits on the side of the bed.  She must have been rehearsing her lines because now she recites them flawlessly:

"I'm not afraid of death, but of leaving this world without your forgiveness.  You've always been my baby, my greatest reason to go on living.  They say a mother loves her children equally, but in my case it's a lie. Because you know what?  I always loved you more.

"When you said I never knew how to love, you were wrong.  I learned to love when I held you in my arms; and I don't want to die without hearing you say you love me.  I beg you not to be so cruel.  Have a little compassion -- don't abandon me in my last days, Dimitrio."

"My sister and I won't abandon you.  You can count on us."

When she asks, he sits beside her and puts his arms around her.  She leans against his chest.  "I need you, Dimitrio," she says.

How Alejandro Almonte earns a night in the hoosegow*
[*which apparently comes from the Latin American Spanish word, juzgado or tribunal]

Alejandro storms into JL's office and punches him in the face so hard that he falls to the floor.  "Get up," orders Alejandro furiously. "Let's see if you're such a big man with me!"

José Luis scarcely reacts to the attack.  "Did you know it's a crime to hit a police officer?" he asks mildly.

"And so is abuse of power!" retorts Alejandro with considerably more heat.

JL bellows for his subordinates.  "Arrest Mr. Almonte," he orders.  "He's going to spend the night in a holding cell for assaulting a police officer."

"You can't do that!"

"Of course I can. I'm the chief of police.  And you just committed a crime."

"And what do you call what you did to my wife's van?"

José Luis is on his feet now, rubbing his jaw where Ale's fist struck him.  "Prove it."

"Bastard!"

José Luis launches into a multi-hm'ed phony-baloney story about how he's investigating the incident although, sadly, there were no witnesses.  He taunts Alejandro by telling him to keep an eye on his wife: he shouldn't let her visit him at night if he doesn't want people calling her a whore.

Alejandro is beside himself:

¡Eres una porquería de persona!  (You're a filthy excuse for a human being) "If you bother my wife again, I'm going to kill you."

"You're going to kill me?" replies JL with deadly calm.  "There are witnesses here, Alejandro, so don't make your situation even worse."

JL turns to his deputies.  "Take him away."

So is this guy a real doctor?

He tells Dimitrio exactly what he told Montserrat: he recommends palliative surgery and chemotherapy to improve his mother's quality of life and possibly buy her a little more time.  The problem is that Graciela refuses any treatment.

Dimitrio would like to get a second opinion.  That's his right, says the doctor, although his mother's diagnosis is very clear.  What she needs now is the love of her children.

The Café and Bakery presided over by the skinniest people in Aguazul except for Poor Blind Nadia, who, let's face it, has her hands full right now.

Padre Anselmo arrives to find Dominga and Macario arguing about Kevin.  He is introduced to the boy and praises him for being such a hard worker.  His parents must be very proud of him.  Kevin replies that he hopes his father will be proud of him someday, but "I have a feeling (presiento) that my father didn't like finding out that I'm his son."

Macario tells the padre that the boy just got to Aguazul and says he's his son -- imagine!  Padre Anselmo assumes that Macario has been keeping the boy's existence a secret.  Isn't he ashamed of himself?

*Scorpion stings kill more people than any other animal, except snakes.

[*According to MedlinePlus, courtesy of the U.S. National Library of Medicine.]

A black camioneta makes its way down a dirt road amid towering palm trees.  It stops and Pedro's thugs pull Adolfo out of the back seat, his face and shirt bloodied.  They are ready to give him a final beat-down before setting him free.  The fat guy -- perhaps thinking it will be more sporting this way -- decides to untie Adolfo's hands before the fun begins.  But as soon as he does so, Adolfo springs into action, elbowing him in the gut and grabbing a gun from the guy in the orange shirt.  He holds it against orange shirt guy's back.  The fat guy aims at Adolfo and orders him to let orange shirt go.

"You wanted to meet the Scorpion," says Adolfo icily. "Well here he is."  He squeezes the trigger.  His bullet passes through the body of orange shirt and continues its trajectory to the fat guy, felling both of them.

Ustedes no olviden quien es el alacrán porque desgraciadamente no podré dejar de serlo hasta que Pedro y yo estemos muertos
(Don't forget who the scorpion is because unfortunately that's who I'll be until Pedro and I are both dead.)

Adolfo fires again -- two more bullets for each man, ensuring they are both good and dead.

[Damn, Adolfo.  Where was this killer technique when Pedro NoNuts was your target?]

Send out the Marina!

Josefina seeks Dimitrio's help in finding the missing Adolfo.  She can't go to the police because Nadia has warned her that José Luis can't be trusted.  No one has heard from him since he left the cantina the night before, and she is afraid that Pedro Medina is out to get him.

"You love him, don't you?" asks Dimitrio.  She does, she says, deeply.  She can't believe this is happening -- they were so happy.  They just got engaged.

Dimitrio promises to organize a search for Adolfo.

Esmeralda bounces Ángel on her hip and sings along as Eric entertains a crowd in the Central Plaza.

Alejandro bangs on the bars of his cell.  He has the right to call his lawyer, he yells.  He is ignored.

JL walks down the street, exuding sweaty arrogance from every pore

Refugio trots after him determinedly. (Or at least I think he's following JL and not Esme.) "If you're hiding something from me, I'm going to find out what it is."  But his attention is distracted by the sight of Eric walking with Esme and Ángel, Eric's arm draped casually around Esme's waist.

"Do you want to tell me what you're doing with that guy?" he sputters.  Esme asks him not to make a scene -- she and Eric are just friends.

"Do you know this guy?" asks Eric protectively, (though if it came to it, we're all pretty sure Refugio could take him).

"Of course she knows me," says Refugio, holding up his hand to show his wedding ring, "I'm her husband."  He lowers his head and appears about to charge, but Esme holds up a warning hand:  Hey, hey -- the boy!

Graciela is in the building.  I repeat -- she is in the building.

Graciela plops down on the sofa in the Almonte beach house.  She is, she tells her daughter, exhausted. Rosario is surprised that Alejandro isn't with them.  Both Montse and Rosario are concerned about Alejandro's absence, but they can't talk about it right now: Graciela is dizzy and needs help getting to her room to lie down.  She is, however, not too impaired to kvetch to Rosario to be careful -- she is hurting her arm!

Dimitrio reports to Josefina, Poor Blind Nadia and Victor.

Adolfo's car has been found outside the cantina.  Maybe someone was waiting for him there and abducted him.

Nadia is sure it is all her fault.  Pedro is punishing Adolfo for helping her.  And she's sure that's what motivated the incident the other day when someone tried to run over Josefina.

Dimitrio is shocked.  Why didn't Fina mention that when she came to see him in his office?  She says she didn't think of it; she just didn't connect it to Pedro.

They are all surprised when bloody, bruised Adolfo shows up at the door.   He is surprised too -- he wasn't expecting everyone to be there.

"Who did this to you?"

"Some guys.  They told me they were following Pedro Medina's orders."

Now their worst fears are confirmed -- Pedro Medina is alive.

Dimitrio has to report to the Marina. Josefina takes Adolfo inside to attend to his injuries.

Montserrat settles Graciela in bed.

Rosario brings her consuegra a cup of tea.  Graciela thanks them both and then tells Montserrat she can go -- she doesn't want to take advantage of her.  All she wants is a kiss.  Rosario looks on with approval as Montse kisses her mother on the cheek and then leaves.  Rosario is about to leave too when Graciela stops her, her face hardening just perceptibly.  "Say, Rosario, how about something to eat?" she growls.  "I haven't eaten all day."

Rosario offers to bring her a little fruit.  No, that's not what Graciela had in mind.  ¿No podría ser un pescadito a la plancha con un poco de arroz? (It couldn't be a little grilled fish and a bit of rice?)

Rosario will see what she can do.  "God will reward you, Rosario," says Graciela.  Left alone, she sneers ever so slightly.

[The smart money on the Patio is on Maricruz!]

The Shower Scene

Montserrat leaves her clothes neatly folded on the bed and, removing her robe, steps into the shower.

[We've seen Psycho.  We've seen Mad Dog Álvarez.  We know this won't end well.]

The bathroom door opens.

[Cue the scary female voices.]

Enter the Mad Dog himself.  He watches in silence as Montserrat stands, eyes closed, vulnerable, under the flow of the shower.

She opens her eyes.  She senses she isn't alone and assumes that her husband has come home.  "Alejandro, love -- Alejandro?"  She steps out of the shower, wringing the water from her long blond hair.  With a towel on her head and another around her body, she walks into the bedroom and gasps.  "What are you doing here?"

"Good evening, Montserrat," says the odious stubble-faced man who once professed to love her.

"How the devil did you get in?  There are navy men watching the house!"

"I'm the Chief of Police.  I came to make sure that the children were okay, especially since Alejandro is spending the night in jail."

She is shocked.  He explains with maddening smugness how Alejandro showed up in his office, blamed him for vandalizing her car and then attacked him.  Montserrat realizes that he set the whole thing up to provoke them, knowing how Alejandro would react and that it would give him a reason to lock him up.

José Luis -- having insinuated himself into Montserrat's bedroom and spied on her in the shower -- now sits calmly in her bedroom and repeats that he is only interested in protecting his children from Pedro Medina.

Montserrat says scornfully that she doesn't need him.  She has the marina at her disposal, thanks to her brother's orders.  She orders him out of her bedroom.

He ignores her words.  His men will reinforce the security offered by the marina.

"What you did to my van is unspeakable."

"Well brace yourself.  Your nightmare is just beginning -- and it will keep on going until I get custody of my daughter Romina."

Rosario arrives as José Luis is coming out of the bedroom.  Montserrat tells her what has just happened and that Alejandro is locked up in a cell downtown.  She has to go to see him.

As Josefina cares for Adolfo's wounds and he caresses her shiny black hair, she has an eye --> mind momentShe is looking into the eyes of Dimitrio and Dimitrio is kissing her.

Back in the present, Adolfo asks her to forgive him for everything she is going through.  She thinks he is very sweet, but none of this is his fault.  She was so frightened when he disappeared.  She thought she'd never see him again.  "Promise me you'll never die, Adolfo.  Your love is the most important thing I have."

Tears fall from the pretty blue eyes of the killer.  He grimaces as Fina embraces him, and even more when she tells him she couldn't help thinking about Dimitrio and how he must have suffered when he lost Mónica.  "Dimitrio's life changed overnight.  His dreams were blown to pieces in one second -- all because of that killer, that Scorpion."

Adolfo tells her not to think about that.  The important thing is that he's fine.

Just ordinary human unhappiness

But it is obvious to Josefina that he isn't fine.  And when she presses him to explain why, he says that Pedro Medina is going to make their lives a nightmare and he doesn't know how to stop him.  All he wants is a simple life with Josefina, with their children, watching them grow, playing with them on the beach -- he's not asking for more than that.  And for the first time, he admits to her that he is very afraid.

As Dimitrio takes a long swallow of beer, Josefina's words echo in his head.

"I love Adolfo deeply.  We just got engaged. I don't want to lose him.  I don't want anything to happen to him."

He is shaken out of his painful rumination by a phone call from Montserrat.  She tells him Alejandro is in jail, and she explains the circumstances.  She is so fed up with José Luis!  Just now, taking advantage of Alejandro's absence, he barged right into her house -- even into her bedroom!

Dimitrio tells her not to worry.  They'll solve the problem.  He takes one final swallow of beer and heads out of the house.

Esmeralda paces.

When the doorbell rings, she rushes to admit Refugio.  Where has he been?  She was supposed to leave twenty minutes ago.  He asks her not to go to La Escondida just this one night so they can talk.

She is offended.  He has never considered her work important.  What if she asked him not to go on an operation so they could talk?  Would he stay home?

He says there's no comparison between what she does and what he does.  If he fails to show up, people may die.  If she doesn't show up to take her clothes off...it's not the same thing.

She tries to rush past him.  He won't permit it.  He wants to know who the guy from the plaza was.  She is, after all, still a married woman.  She says she's entitled to have friends.  Besides, they're separated, and with every passing day she becomes more convinced they should make it permanent.

"I forbid you to see him again!"

"You can't forbid me to do anything.  Maybe now you know how I felt when you were interested in another woman."

"You mean you're interested in him?"

"I haven't known him long, but yes, we have a lot in common.  But you know what I like best about him?"

"No, I don't know."

"He's not a macho like you."  Esmeralda grabs her purse, slips past her macho man, and walks out the door.  Refugio, (otherwise known as Mr. Mom), prepares for a night looking after his little boy.

When José Luis opens his door, his chin collides with Dimitrio's fist.

Dim's punch knocks the smug bastard to the ground.  Now Dim stands over him and dares him to get up and hit him back.  JL drawls that he is no fool -- he knows that if he hits Dim, Dim will put him in military prison.

"If you do anything else to my family -- like what you pulled with the van, say -- I'll abuse my power to get you, José Luis."

JL plays dumb.  "What are you talking about, Dimitrio?  You're accusing me of something I didn't do.  Besides," he says slyly, "there's no way to prove it."

Dimitrio knows perfectly well what JL is capable of doing to hurt his sister and Alejandro.

José Luis stands and gets right into Dimitrio's face:  "You have no idea what I'm capable of.  So watch out for yourself, for your sister and for your brother-in-law.  AND GET OUT OF MY HOUSE!"

JL closes the door after Dimitrio.  He wipes a trickle of blood from his mouth.

The yellow municipal building is lit up against the night sky.

Inside, a woman in a pink dress and high heels walks toward the holding cells.  Alejandro glimpses her blonde hair and calls out Montserrat's name.  But his face betrays disappointment tinged with horror when he realizes it is Crazy María in one of her Montse costumes.

"My love, I heard that José Luis arrested you, so I came to see you.  Don't worry about the children -- your mother is taking care of them."

Alejandro looks at her with dismay.  "What the hell are talking about?  What are you doing here disguised as Montserrat?"

"No, I am Montserrat."

"Don't you realize what you're saying, María?"

Crazy María raises her voice in anger:  "Don't confuse me with that servant!"  Then she says more softly: "Look at me closely.  I'm your wife."

Avances:  A mishmash of María and José Luis doing bad crap which they are likely to continue to do as long as they draw breath on this earth because they are crazy and mean and aggrieved.

Yikes...way to start the recap off with a bang, NovelaMaven! And I loved your description of the mishmash of bad behavior shown in the avances as well.

Of course, in between, all sorts of delightful, memorable descriptions.

"slit the well-fed throat of Ezquiel Basurto"

"Multi-hmm'ed phoney baloney story

(Damn Adolfo. Where was this killer technique when Pedro NoNuts was your target?)

I would have fallen for Graciela's speech hook, line and sinker. And I'm appalled to see that she's going to dedicate herself to treating Rosario like an overworked, abused servant again.

I have a feeling in the next few weeks Fatima, Diana and I will be wringing our hands and fretting up a storm.

In the meantime, though, we can continue to enjoy these sharp, witty recaps. Thanks so much NovelaMaven...you must have been born with a pen in your hand. You certainly know how to use one. (Metaphor metaphor! so glad we've got word processors and computers now.)

Right on the money, NovelaMaven!

Where the hell is a good shrink when we need one? MDA needs to be locked up yesterday and BSC Maria needs a padded room like years ago.

If MDA did get custody of Romina I'd be afraid for her.

All I ask of the writers now is there not be any more time leaps. I want someone to do something about MDA before Romina gets old enough to know what he's now all about.

Amazing NM. You brought much needed sanity to the madness. Appreciate the wonderful detail since I was a bit busy last night and was watching with one eye on other things (which isn't a bad way to watch this lately.)

Now, I am officially pissed at Adolfo. Brilliant portrayal during the scene when he shot the two dudes ( ditto the comment concerning Pedro's shooting) and it was like a switch went off with him. I think he is resigned to the fact he needs to take Pedro down and may die trying...but then protect this woman you love. Fake a break up, send her away....I don't know, but it made me frustrated that he just won't deal with what his life is doing to her. Selfish!!!(And sad to know that because they won't talk to each other, the real twosome is not happening.)

Well, all these dudes are. Refugio needs to shut up. Though I'm tired of Esme, I think there is some sort of reason we are having Cutie Busker Buy hanging around and this relationship is developing.

Ok, MDJL. We now add Stalker to his list of attributes. I don't know, his sing-song snark is always a good moment to check on the baseball score.

Do we really have to watch Maria in her blond wig still? I mean it borders on painful now.

We've gotten enough hints, so I'm guessing we'll get a JL taking Romina plot soon?? Joy.

Novela Maven, thanks for the very excellent recap. Interesting fact about scorpions and their place in the mortality hierarchy. "Crazy and mean and aggrieved" sure describes BM and JL.

Looks like Adolfo has started his exit with the blatant shooting of Pedro's henchmen. He has really become such a tragic figure. I wonder when he will meet his end.
It would be perfect if he could really take out Pedro this time.

Just when we hadn't seen that crazyBM around, there she is in the stupid wig again.

Looks like Dimitrio is coming into his own.

Graciela has not changed at all.

Jarifa

NovelaMaven: With your carefully crafted words and wry wit, you somehow managed to dispel the dark clouds that permeated this dank, dark episode.

The despair and heartbreak seemed to dissipate with rays of sunburst including: "The Café and Bakery presided over by the skinniest people in Aguazul except for Poor Blind Nadia, who, let's face it, has her hands full right now"; "[Damn, Adolfo. Where was this killer technique when Pedro NoNuts was your target?]" and my absolute favorite: "Just ordinary human unhappiness". Wonderful.

There is not an ounce of reason or a drop of clarity in my fervent feverish wish that somehow, someway Adolfo will survive. Yet, I continue to hope. Fina's impassioned "Promise me you'll never die, Adolfo. Your love is the most important thing I have" tugged on my heartstrings. While I know she will likely end up with Dimitrio, I could not help but be moved by
"Tears fall from the pretty blue eyes of the killer".

Did the writers really need to assassinate JL's character to the depths its now plummeted to? I was once one of his most fervent supporters, now I can barely stand to look at him.

Judy, I was also feeling as though Graciela was sincere at first but share your sentiment that "she's going to dedicate herself to treating Rosario like an overworked, abused servant again". Sigh.

daisy and Jarifa, I think Maria needs to come up with a new trick. The blonde wig isn't working on anyone - JL or Ale. She's out of ideas, out of ammunition and clearly, out of her mind.

NovelaMaven, thank you for this excellent recap.

Diana

NovelaMaven- This was such a wonderfully descriptive and sarcastic recap. Wow! I loved it. Still not finding the desire or need to watch, but these recaps are not to be missed.

I think JL's descent into madness and continued crazy antics are all due to the extension of the tn. Someone had to become the big bad before everyone rallies to take down the real big bad, Pedro. It's getting really old though.

"(And he is enjoying himself. He looks like a dog sniffing around its own steaming excrement.)"

Well, my wonderful amiga, JudyB and I picked the VERY same sentence, NovelaMaven and it was PERFECT. It described JL to a "T"...a sniffing dog.

Graciela is a P.H.O.N.Y.

The story is one huge downer after another. I could not watch last night for fear of what would happen to Adolfo. Am I watching Univision or Telemundo? Some nights, I am not so sure.

JudyB, amiga, I will see you in the bunker.

Maricruz and I will be sitting at the "Graciela is making this up" table when I come out of the bunker every now and then.

Of course, we can trace some of this back to Gracie's advice to him to knock Monse up right away. His obsession with her has the excuse that she is the mother of his child.

Whom I hope will ultimately turn out to be Alejandro's, but that would definitely push MDA over the edge with no bunjee cord.

Dear NovelaMaven,

You must be setting a Caray Caray record for the number of fantastic recaps written in the shortest period of time! This was great, and I am very grateful for the extra effort you always make, and especially for including intriguing tidbits like this:

hoosegow*
[*which apparently comes from the Latin American Spanish word, juzgado or tribunal]

And your ability to capture our collective frustrations with smart lines like this:
Adolfo fires again -- two more bullets for each man, ensuring they are both good and dead.
[Damn, Adolfo. Where was this killer technique when Pedro NoNuts was your target?]

I admire how you get so much out of every episode and make us all see the scenes and language in new ways.

I can't believe we still have THREE MORE WEEKS OF THIS SHOW!!!!! I keep thinking it's almost over but then awful things keep happening. Alejandro is even in prison again. How many times has it been? It really is starting to feel like filler now.

Thanks again, NovelaMaven, and best to you and all!
Julia R.

You know, UA, I think JL is now passed caring about Monse as the woman of his dreams. Seems he has finally gotten the billboard message that Monse will NEVER love him.

But now I feel he's all about Romina. He's transferring that obsession and revenge on Alejandro to his daughter. The double delight for him is that he can stick it to both adults now; Monse for rejecting him and Alejandro, well because he's Alejandro.

We need Angie's ghost to make an appearance and give this idiot a good slap to the head.

Thanks, Novela Maven, for yet another one of your signature recaps. What a treat to read with my coffee.
You have a true talent for creatively spinning a captivating tale.

As a family dealing with someone only slightly less crazy, mean, and aggrieved than JL, I am finding this show harder and harder to watch. Trying to deal with this type of person over custody is hard enough without watching it play out on my TV screen. I cannot stand to watch and listen to JL anymore. I can relate to Mony and Ale's frustration. Keeping your cool while dealing with a nasty, irrational person takes a lot if strength, especially if you are a man who really wants to punch the guy in the face.

I did not think that Gracie had set up this illness because the doctor spoke to her alone in his office with no one there and sent her for tests with other people around. Could he be lying because Gracie hired him to fool everyone ? She really is sick in the head if this is true.

Well, I guess we know that Fofo must die so that Dim and Fin can finally be reunited.

I cannot imagine how we are going to endure the weeks of strum and aghast ahead. Maybe I will have to join those of you who have retreated to the bunker. Does the bunker have air conditioning and drinks with little umbrellas ?

Aghast???...make that angst

So here we are, my friends, at 179 and counting, we the stalwart few. I've stopped looking for redemption (for José Luis, for Adolfo, for EZ, for María) and would now happily settle for preemption (at least on any night I am scheduled to write the BlueWater Chronicles).

And yet you continue to dazzle me with your clever, kind and insightful comments for which I am grateful to you all.

JudyB,

Thank you! I hope you and your fellow empaths will wring your hands on the Patio. There is still some comfort in numbers.

BTW, Is your "Metaphor metaphor" an allusion to one of my favorite films, Il Postino in which the Chilean poet Pablo Nerudo teaches the humble postman of the title to win hearts with metafora?

Urban,

Thank you. I also cherish the hope that Romina isn't swimming in the same gene pool as Mad Dog.

Yes, let's hope the only time leap is one from the penúltimo to the último capítulo where we get the requisite "Where are they now?" segment.

Daisynjay,

"Fake a break up, send her away....I don't know, but it made me frustrated that [Adolfo] just won't deal with what his life is doing to [Josefina]."

Oh man, yes -- especially after he acknowledged that he was doomed to be the Scorpion. He needs to do an Arechiga (write a letter detailing everything he knows, confessing his own guilt in Mónica's murder, which would finally set Fina free -- and then DISAPPEAR.) His continued existence is a threat to the few innocent souls still left in Aguazul.

We've gotten enough hints, so I'm guessing we'll get a JL taking Romina plot soon?? Joy.

Ugh. Please please please not on my watch!

Jarifa,

"Graciela has not changed at all."

So do you think she could be both genuinely SICK and yet still HORRIBLE and MANIPULATIVE? Maybe we are getting yet another reminder that suffering, in itself, is not necessarily ennobling.

I do hope you're right about Dimitrio -- and let's hope the increasingly bloodthirsty writers allow him to make it all the way to the end of the story.

Diana,

Thanks for peeking out of the Bunker to share your thoughts with us today. This comment of yours about María says it all:

"She's out of ideas, out of ammunition and clearly, out of her mind."

Looking on the bright side, at least Graciela has got her appetite back. :D

Vivi,

Thanks so much.

"I think JL's descent into madness and continued crazy antics are all due to the extension of the tn."

That sounds plausible, more plausible than any attempt to reconcile the man who married Angélica and who repeatedly saved the life of his rival with the ugly, vindictive lunatic he has become.

Fatima,

Yikes -- If you liked only one sentence, did it have to be precisely THAT ONE? (I keed, I keed, as Sara would say.)

Me, I'm going squint when I watch so that all I can see are true love's travails and triumphs. (Also, in the Bunkers there are special ocular devices that will reframe what you see on the screen. Do use them as you need to.)

Dear Julia Rold,

Thanks for the lovely comment and vote of support. I don't think I'm anywhere near to setting a record, though -- you'd be amazed at the wonderful stuff in the annals of this blog!

I always start out determined to dash something off and be done with it; but once I start writing, I can't help but wander down all kinds of side roads. (Believe it or not, I cut a lot before I post.) It's nice to know that you enjoy some of my tangential musings.

Susanlynn,

"I did not think that Gracie had set up this illness because the doctor spoke to her alone in his office with no one there and sent her for tests with other people around."

That's true. But that was BEFORE he made his diagnosis. We never saw him talking to her in private about her tumor.

As for how hard it must be to watch the JL character and be reminded of your own family's very real ordeal, I can only say that I feel for you. Maybe, though, it will be cathartic to keep watching since in the novela world (unlike in the real world), the bad guys almost never get away with it.

Daisynjay,

"We need Angie's ghost to make an appearance and give this idiot a good slap to the head."

Well SOMETHING could happen to turn things on their ear. We're getting plenty of suggestions that for all JL's personal resentment and inexcusable acting out, he may secretly be on the side of the angels as far as Pedro Medina et al are concerned.

I love how Adolfo holds and shoots a gun. Can’t the writers find a way to redeem this guy without killing him off?

MDA falls deeper in the pit he has dug for himself. He is the sleaze ball of all time; getting into Monse’s shower like a peeping Tom. Ughhhh!!!!!

Graciela keeps up the pity party and keeps milking her children for everything she can. Maybe the Crackpot Theorists have a point and she paid off the doctor.

Maria gets crazier and crazier. Does she really believe she’s Monse?

Dim and Jose can’t seem to get over each other. When will they realize they are meant to be together?

Esme stick to your guns. I don’t care about your choice of a working career (I was a working Mom myself) but Refugio doesn’t deserve your understanding and for you to get back together with him. I hope Esme isn’t playing Eric for a fool. I bet Eric turns out to be a great, rich guy who goes from place to place, singing and playing his guitar because it’s his passion, like Esme's dancing is for her.

The wardrobe department for this novela is terrible! Why are they dressing Ale in blue all the time, when he has the most gorgeous green eyes and should be wearing green to complement his eyes? Now Ale is wearing guayaberas instead of t-shirts; they have Monse in nothing but skirts (or tight jean-like pants) and blouses—no sliming dresses as during the first part of the novela; MDA always wearing terrible polo shirts with the same patterned grey/blue sport coats (with small colored specks) and a handkerchief in his coat pocket; and Gracie with her rodeo clothes. The only person they are dressing consistently is Padre (always in clerical clothes). The wardrobe department picks a style, then the actor wears that style for a good many episodes until the wardrobe dept decides it's time to change things up.

The hairstylists are the ones to be congratulated. I’ve never seen so many different types of braids in my whole life! I have long hair and don’t know how the producers can think that a woman on her own can braid her hair in such extragavent fashion. These braids take a successful stylist to accomplish.

NovelaMaven:

What a superb recap! I wanted to thank you so much for filling in for me while I was gone. I am still not all caught up, but since I have been skimming the recaps and trying to catch up on Hulu+ I thought I'd comment.

I would respectfully like to join the Crackpot Theorists table please? I have some Crackpot theories of my own, especially about wanna guess who? Hmmmmmm???? JL of course!

Now what seems to be stalkerish behavior on JL's part is something else to me. Where am I going with this? Think about it. Who knows much more about Peddy than JL does? I will never believe that JL has been helping Peddy, and I believe that Peddy is getting help elsewhere. JL knows the real reason that Peddy wants to get rid of Ale, Ale does not. Ale does now know that Peddy is incapacitated but not how Peddy got that way.

As far as JL sneaking into Monse's room, look how easy that was, despite Dimi's men being right outside the place. JL didn't try to abuse Monse in any way. He is trying to show her, my crackpot theory, how easy it would be for Peddy's men to get in and out of her home. As far as putting Ale in jail? Could be to protect him also. Ale is kind of,pardon the expression, sometimes not the sharpest tool in the drawer when it comes to Peddy, jus' saying.

As far as Monse's vehicle I think that wasn't JL either. It's more BM's style. She is very vengeful and would do something like that. JL has other ways of getting his petty revenge.

I truly believe that JL is on the side of the Angels, but as far as his recent behavior goes, I wonder if he is doing this to maybe flush out Peddy's helper. The writers have made it a point to point the finger at JL, which I'm not buying, this is a huge red herring to me. I think JL truly loves Romina and Laurito and I don't believe he is using those children. He wants to protect them. As far as Monse and Ale go, JL wants to make them suffer a bit, as Monse slept with Ale while still married to JL. That's a petty revenge on his part. Stupid on JL, but I think maybe he's not so infatuated with Monse anymore. If he was still infatuated with Monse, he would have tried to put the moves on her when she got out of that shower. He didn't. I think the reason JL wants custody of Romina is because Monse and Ale really want JL out of their lives and then he won't be able to visit Romina. Even with a Judge's order they will make it hard for him. That's why he is seeking custody. He wants more time with his little girl.

That's my crackpot theory on JL.

Thanks to Urban, Gloria, Julia, Eli, Elna June, and especially NovelaMaven for the splendiferous recaps Y'all have done on this dark and stormy TN. I am glad to be back with Y'all and for throwing my crackpot theory out there ; )

Not a bad crackpot theory, Mad. BUT, the mad dog is still a slimy, whiney, stinky, dirty-faced (bearded) creepy peeping Tomas! He didn't have to slither all the way into her bathroom to show her how weak her home's security is. Hmmm?

Mads..So good to "see" you again. We missed you.

Hmmmm...I do not think I can accept your theories about JL. He may redeem himself in the end by saving someone or several someones from Ped , but I think right now he has turned to the dark side.

Well if the crackpot theorists are right about Graciela (i.e.,she paid the doctor to fake the results and she is really not sick !!??) and JL is on the side of the good (i.e. trying to show Monse that Pedro can and has gotten to her !!??), then before the last episode Gracie needs to get killed one way or another and JL needs a crown, one preferably bestowed in heaven.

I love Padre Anselmo but that cranky old man is getting on my nerves. He treats Macario like Moe used to treat Larry and Curly.

I hope Macario does not take it out on Kevin (el chamaco del otro lado).

OH NovelaMaven---Your recap was so good, I don't know where to begin. Well maybe with a THANK YOU
for making my day. NM, your pen must have been on fire because heading after heading and line after line you continued to amaze me and others as well, I'm sure, with your brilliant writing. How many great lines were there?

He looks like a dog sniffing around his own steaming excrement.

The café and bakery presided over buy the skinniest people in Aguazul.

Damn, Adolfo, r technique when Pedro No Nuts was your target?

JL walks down the street exuding arrogance and malodorous sweat from every pore.

Graciela is in the building. I repeat--she's in the building.

We've seen Psycho. We've seen Mad Dog Alvarez. We know this won't end well.

Refugio, otherwise known as Mr. Mom.

Just ordinary human unhappiness.

Tears from the pretty blue eyes of a killer.

And it doesn't even end there. In your comments NM you also wrote---
Ugh! Please, please, please not on my watch in reference to a possible kidnapping of little baby Romina. I know how you feel.
It looks like that is going to happen although we are all hoping that it won't.

Diana---She's out of ideas, she's out of ammunition and she's clearly out of her mind.

Urban---That would push MDA over the edge with no bungee cord.

You guys in the Robo Bunker put me to shame. I never seem to come up with zany lines.

Something serious---I would like to say how striking the big brown Tundra looks when we see it out in front of the beautiful yellow/gold hacienda every night in the opening intro. That's eye catching.

Right---pop the police chief in his office. That will get you a night or two behind the grey bars.
I'd say that it wasn't a very good move. A little advanced planning would have been a better way to go.
the gringo

Anon 2:40,
I agree, he's still a grade-A creep. Besides, if he loves his daughter so much and only wants the best for her, why not give her a happy, stress-free mommy? He knows good and hell well he wouldn't even HAVE a daughter if he hadn't tricked (yes, tricked) Montse into marrying him. And if he wasn't being such an Alejo (QPTRish for Ahole) all the time, he would be very welcome by the whole family to come around as often as he wants to see the baby. He is perfectly aware of the type of people that Montse, Ale and Rosario are and they would not make him feel uncomfortable (once he controlled his Montsession). How different would it be if JL, Ale, and Dimitrio were good friends, all working together to bring down Pedro, Eze and El Alacran (with Gaudencia and Maria on the side)?

Padre Anselmo just thinks that Macario should know better. I agree with him.

My best advice to Alejandro and Victor right now would be to take their families out of the country.

I get a kick out of the way the Tundra is featured in the opening sequence among all the other human characters. So funny. And in the role of The Tundra is....The Tundra. I had a friend who named his first old car Luther. I never knew why.

Great Funny Recap!

Victoria Gomez:

Your comment spoke to me! About the wardrobe and Hair department. My 2 cousins and I (our own round table discussions regarding Aguazul) have talked a lot about this.

1. Ale wears mostly Blue. Requested by Sebastian Rulli himself. I read it was his only request when signing on. Apparently he's a bit superstitious and nervous about carrying one of the leads of a remake (Blue is his good luck). Producer Angelli, it has been written, also wanted to convey Alejandro as the Principe Azul. And I guess he only wore tee shirts when he was poor. Now that he's back, button up only Please. The all white outfit for Angie's funeral: Oh my gaaaa....

Monse's Clothes. Her wardrobe has really evolved! Single sexy, when she was married she still wore shorter tighter clothes. Once the time jump happened, as a mother, the long A-line skirts and 3/4 sleeves popped up. Now she's sporting a lot of braids which I'm not fond of, on her. They don't compliment the shape of her head. I don't think they make her look good. Yesterday's outfit at the vandalized car was her worst. The blouse, the hair, awful. She looked a little matronly. Otherwise I'm a fan of the long A line she wears.

I hate JL's polo with a blazer look. V neck with blazer. Eww, no. He dressed better when he was married to Angelica.

Graceless. After the time jump, clearly she dressed poorer for her. I was surprised that after she got the $ from Fabi that she didn't go back to dressing like her fabulous self. When they show her in the jewelry store in the long rodeo dress, I was disappointed. She's in Italy, with $50-60 million at her finger tips and that's what she wore??? Disappointing.

Finita: Her clothes are Fantastic post time jump. It was the Heidi hairdo that I was hating after the 7 year jump. Glad they got rid of that.

Esme: The stripper clothes are UNFORGIVABLE. Even though I believe filming has concluded for LQLVMR, Hey Wardrobe Dept: Watch Mi Corazon es Tuyo, that's how an Anthro is done! The G rated dancing sucked and Esme had the same 3 moves that maria later copied. Just AWFUL. Aguazul must have been smaller than I thought if it stayed open that long.

Anyway, Thanks for letting me unload! I could go on and on about hair and Wardrobe (more believe it or not).

Santi

Santi:
That was great info about SR's request for blue only. My husband worked for a NASCAR driver; and he was very superstitious about the advertisement, wardrobe, and car colors also. Green was also his bad luck color and he had certain rituals before a race.

The things people do! I wonder though why SR doesn't like green?

Victoria Gomez and Santi,

Interesting stuff about the wardrobe. My take on Montse's early stuff was that it was super elegant and screamed wealth. The later dirndl skirt and blouse look, while not the stuff of poor girls, didn't scream $$$ quite so loudly. Also, the dirndl skirts emphasize the actress's tiny waist.

Madelaine,

Welcome back, amiga! We missed you around here!

Please, have a seat at the Crackpot Theorists' Table -- everyone is welcome there. You don't even have to be a crackpot (though it helps).

"[JL] is trying to show her, my crackpot theory, how easy it would be for Peddy's men to get in and out of her home."

I don't know about that. I think he was trying to show her that, as Chief of Police, he had plenty of clout. He could still push around individual members of the Marina and make them yield to his authority. After all, he didn't sneak into the house -- he used his "authority" to gain entry.

The only way to stop that would be for Dimitrio to make a general announcement that JL was not to be trusted. He can't really do that.

But I agree with you that JL is not likely to be the one helping Pedro.

In any case, I like what Anon 2:40 wrote:

"He didn't have to slither all the way into her bathroom to show her how weak her home's security is. Hmmm?"

Oxnard Huero,

So you think Padre Anselmo is going to start smacking Macario upside the head? Doesn't the poor guy have enough to contend with, with Dominga pulling him by the ear?

Gringo,

Wow, thanks so much!

And yes, Alejandro fell right into José Luis's trap. Our boy is pretty, but he's not always the brightest bulb on the tree.

Boy did the Toyota people know what they were doing when they bought into this novela. The Tundra is a legend in its own time!

Anon 3:11

"How different would it be if JL, Ale, and Dimitrio were good friends, all working together to bring down Pedro, Eze and El Alacran"

Sigh.

Santi,

Thanks so much for stopping by to comment. I'm glad you liked the recap.

Madelaine---You're back! I enjoyed your post today.

Anonymous 2:40 You've got a point there.

Security? Talking about security.
Where is the security? I enjoy reading all of the theorists views
from the members of Fatima's Crackpot Theorists Club.

So Mad Dog just wanted to show the lack of security. So why enter the bathroom during St. Montse's shower? Well St. Montse is certainly one to look at. But back to security---Just a few days ago actress Sandra Bullock found someone that she didn't know in her house. The guy was caught by the police as Sandra locked herself in a room and called the police. An actress has a lot of money for security, so how do unwanted people enter your house? It makes you wonder. St. Montse might need to call another security company because the one that she has clearly isn't doing the job.

Santi on wardrobe---Being one of the few men in the Robo group I wasn't going to mention it but since you are the Robo fashion expert I now will.
Not last night but the night before last, the episode where MDL was harassing St. Montse while she was having lunch with her children in a local restaurant
In some scenes her blouse had one button not buttoned and in other scenes there were two buttons not buttoned, almost down to her waist
Do you think that was intentional or just a mistake by the director?
the gringo

Novela Maven:

"So you think Padre Anselmo is going to start smacking Macario upside the head? Doesn't the poor guy have enough to contend with, with Dominga pulling him by the ear"?

He smacked him good last night, that's for sure. It reminded me of what the nuns used to do to us in grammar school.

Anyway, did anyone notice how covered in blood Fofo wa swhen he showed up back at the house? He dripped from the face down, it looked like that he had fed from those guys he had just shot.

NovelaMaven thank you for your recap and for all the recaps you've done for this show! I have no time today to comment or even read the comments yet, but wonder if any of you can help with this one: my hubby, tired of watching me watch with my headphones on has gamely asked to watch along, but I've never used cc at all much less in English. Anyone know how to turn on the English cc?
Very grateful!!!
Thanks,
Rebecca

Gringo, the button thing could be an accident. I once went shopping for western clothes (in Texas, when I was preparing to attend a rodeo) and the best blouse I tried on was only just too tight so that the critically-placed button opened at the slightest movement.

Entering Monse's bedroom was deliberate stalking and intimidation.

Eli:

I'd be more than happy to share my spreadsheet of the top recommended novelas with you and anyone else who is interested.

I only lack completing the column where I'm listing the main actors of each novela. However, if you'd like the draft version, let me know.

There were so many novelas listed; believe it or not, almost 150+ novelas were recommended. I've looked on YouTube for people who have downloaded their top recommendations, but found the Caray, Caray list to be so much more encompassing. It's a great list; and I really appreciate all the bloggers who took their time to post their recommendations.

I've been asking Urban to get in touch with BlogMom to see if the listing can be put on the sidebar.

I'm copying this post also on LQLVMR.

Victoria Gomez:

Oooh which driver? I love NASCAR!

As for SR not wearing green, my cousin explained that green, although would match his eyes wonderfully, it may not look as good with his skin tone. The blue compliments his skin tone much better.

I remember him wearing green once, when he woke up in Argentina, grabbed Victor's clothes and ran through Buenos Aires. He looked good in green to me! And white, black or nothing at all....Jaja!

Santi

Hi Gringo, You are much too kind!

I noticed that too! Especially because she appeared to be wearing a white bra. With the colorful coral/salmon colored blouse she was wearing, she really could've used another colorful or just a nude colored bra.

Apparently that blouse was too snug, in other scenes, still in that outfit, the buttons kept opening.

Santi

Santi,
My husband was Food & Beverage Director for Dale Earnhardt Corp. (not one of the crew) at the "Garage Mahal" in Mooresville, NC until DEI merged with Ganassi Racing and Junior went over to Hendrick's Motor Sports. He loved Dale Earnhardt and respected him so much.

During his interview, Dale asked him what he knew about NASCAR, and my Latino husband, Roberto, answered that he knew the cars went around in a circle and the visitors always got drunk before and after the races! Dale hired him on the spot. It was a wonderful time for us and much better than living through earthquakes, drug cartels, attempted kidnappings, and guerilla warfare in Central and South America!

From MCET:

Eli, Variopinta, and others:

I'd be more than glad to share my spreadsheet of bloggers' telenovela recommendations with anyone interested, although since it's in Excel, I have no clue as how to send it through the blog since Caray, Caray blog is in HTML format.

If someone could clue me in on how to post the spreadsheet on Caray, Caray, or if interested parties would provide me their email addresses, I'd be happy and delighted to share.

"Soy Tu Duena" was my first TN; and since I'm bedridden, I've watched novelas non-stop since then.

Another masterpiece, NovelaMaven, and your knack for metaphoric description has certainly blazed a new frontier. You certainly painted a vivid image for us and I don't see how you could be accused of plucking low-hanging fruit.

How frugal of Adolfo to polish off two hoods with a single shot (a twofer), but then he wastefully proceeds to pump extra lead into both. I suppose his previous experience with Pedro was instructive... measure once... shoot a bunch.

So, gringo, would you call that murder or self defense?

What can I say about our María? She seems to have wandered off the planet. I just hope that she doesn't bite the dust wearing that hideous wig.

Monteserrat must have entertained herself as a child by poking a stick though the fence at the vicious dog next door.

In my years as a physician I generally found that acquiring a terminal illness does not tend to improve a nasty personality.

Carlos

Victoria Gomez:

WOW!! Incredible story at DEI. I love DE and Jr., I use to follow them closely. Jr. I still do.

I'd like to see your Telenovela list if you don't mind, here is my email santanabelenruiz@aol.com.

I loved Soy Tu duena!

Thanks! Santi

Carlos, you mean Maria, don't you? I know you don't like Monse, but that's a bit extreme.

Hi Rebecca!

I'm so happy you've been enjoying my recaps and more than a little jealous that your husband has offered to watch along with you.

I'm kind of technologically-challenged myself, so I can't really help with the English cc's. I know that I couldn't get any captions at all on my old tv; now I have a newer one and I'm watching on ATT U-verse. There's an options menu that lets you do all kinds of stuff, but it's very specific to this system. Maybe you could google your particular set-up.

Dear Carlos,

I suppose you are referring to the metaphor that at this point is a bit of an embarrassment. Oh well.

"measure once... shoot a bunch."

Words to live by.

Thank you for indulging my tendency to excess!

Oh, Maven, like many of others loved your vivid, "...steaming excrement" comment.
Also, agreed, "Damn, Adolfo. Where was this killer technique when Pedro NoNuts was your target?"
And the shower scene, "We've seen Psycho. We've seen Mad Dog Álvarez. We know this won't end well."
But I think you outdid yourself with the Advances:
"A mishmash of María and José Luis doing bad crap which they are likely to continue to do as long as they draw breath on this earth because they are crazy and mean and aggrieved."
So enjoyable, thank you!

Oh, Urban, what an idea! I so wish the girl would turn out to be Ale's! ITA, if MDA got custody of Romina (dreadful name) he'd be emotionally or otherwise abusive to get back at Monse. He's already hostile and menacing toward her.

OK; any ideas on who's helping PedroNoNuts? Clearly not Adolfo; and after I saw the way EZ was watching his back-so not him, I thought maybe Maria, but she's too insane right now.
MDA? He seems too much of a lone wolf now. Maybe just one of his henchman.

I think Ale's IQ is only a bit higher than Refugio, really, can't he think of another more clever way of getting back at MDA than punching him?

Hello everyone! I barely finished reading your recap NovelaMaven and just wanted to let you know what a delight it was to review this dark episode through your delightfully descriptive language:

"(And he is enjoying himself. He looks like a dog sniffing around its own steaming excrement.)"

"José Luis launches into a multi-hm'ed phony-baloney story about how he's investigating the incident"

"Damn, Adolfo. Where was this killer technique when Pedro NoNuts was your target?"

And thanks for the mention: [The smart money on the Patio is on Maricruz!]I'm still keeping my fingers crossed I'm right, especially after seeing her treatment of Rosario as soon as Montse left the room. She suddenly got her appetite back, didn't she?!

Fatima, come in and out of the bunker as much as you like. I'll save your seat at the ""Graciela is making this up" table. :-)

Urban, I'm with you on locking MDA and Maria in a padded room. I think both have gone off the deep end. WTH? Does she really believe she is Montse now? And MDA, got the smirk wiped off, at least temporarily, twice thanks to Ale and Dim. I bet ALe thinks it was a well spent night in the slammer, especially after keeping his cool for almost a year, putting up with JL's antics.

Let's see what happens tonight!

Maricruz

UA,

Nopis, I meant Montserrat. First, I like Montserrat and genuinely hope to see her and Alejandro end up together. Goodness knows they are both rather vapid and vacuous, each seemingly enthralled by the mind-numbing inane chatter of the other. What I was referring to was the delight she appears to take in punching all of JL's hot buttons taunting him at every turn. Was it wise for her to show up alone at his house and taunt him? Children who tease vicious dogs frequently get bitten.

Rebecca,

The English CCs are on CC3. I don't think that all TVs have the various CC options although the newer the model the more likely you will have several CC options. First you must find the way to access CCs on your TV and if you have CC3 it should be obvious how to set it. If you don't have CC3, why not utilize CC1 with Spanish CCs as an aid for you to translate it for your husband. Occasionally the Lovely Linda will watch with me and seems to find my translation of the dialogue amusing and entertaining. Of course the possibility always exists that she is just humoring me... which is fine by me.

NovelaMaven,

I meant my comment about your opening metaphor in the best possible way, even though it may not find its way to the sidebar... but then... you never know.

Carlos

I strongly doubt that Monserrat would have done such a thing, Carlos. This is not her nature.

It is in her nature to defend herself and hers. However, she is a little too impulsive.

NovelaMaven,
Your recap is awesome. Thank you for all the hard work and dedication you put into it.

MDA needs to go. He is annoying and I just can't stand what he's doing. If he is faking all if this then he needs an Emmy or an Oscar because his performance for Male Jerk in a leading role is spot on.

I have a feeling about Gracie. I don't like how she treated Rosie, and I think she might be faking it. And if she is I hope Montse throws her out on her a**. One good thing that happened was that Dimi said he was going to get a second opinion on his mother's diagnosis.

Back to work...hasta pronto!

Ok, so that is now 3 at the "Graciela is Faking it Table! Yesseree, Bob! I love Crackpot Theories!! Welcome Aunty Ann. ☺

NovelaMaven, I loved the "dog excrement" sentence so much as it SO aptly described JL. It was perfect in every way!!

Maybe I will actually get up the nerve to watch tonight. We shall see. Hmmmm...

Fatima
Member, Crackpot Theorists™

It was funny when Monse saw the car having Z.O.R.R.A written all over ,i help but to laugh myself out this, really already seems like an antic of BM. I guess JL is having a financial crisis as a toilet unclogger( Graciela clogged it with her fake tears) ,thats why he is doing overnights in Monses bathroom! And even Juvies theme was playing:)

I also laughed at the final scene when BM said" Im not that damn servant,im your wife, our children will be fine!" Yuck. And i found the Adolfo and the thugs scene epic, too bad he didnt used the technique on Pedro when he had the chance, even a headshot would have been good..

A lesson learned too late.

If Maria did the trashing of Monse's car (I think she did it) it's a case of pure sociopathic projection. Maria is the zorra. Before this is over I want Monse to have the satisfaction of delivering The Slap Heard Round the World.

Maria needs some phychiatric attention and so does JL and no i dont mean the attention of a fake doctor! I also think that Gracie is just pretending, she is a pathological liar ,the queen of hypocricity,a greed incarnate and a horrible mother of the year material..I believe her only rehabilitation would lay somewhere between poverty, abandonment or jail time.Remember that she was the one responsible for her death,Pedro just "turned her on" .

For Fabiolas death*

NovelaMaven - Terrific recap. I too loved the line about JL and a dog sniffing you know what. Enjoying the recaps mucho mejor than the show right now.

Though Maria and JL are "out there," this is one TN where I feel more for the villains than for the good guys. Maria is nuts, has been for some time, and in addition to victimizing Monse she herself has been victimized. She needs professional help and lockdown. Hey, wait a minute, has Carlos hypnotized me?

JL is only newly nuts, and his being an a$$ to Refugio makes no sense. Refugio has put his life on the line for him. I’m not buying that JL is as crazy and vengeful as he seems.

Dear Crackpot Theorists™: It's not that I don't think Graciela is devious enough to fake a death sentence to manipulate her bebés, but would her vanity let her stop wearing makeup? If so, I guess she does "love" the kids more than material things cause she's forgoing fashion, jewels, makeup, and Italy to get back in with them.

Ready for Ale to figure out what's going on. Realized now how spoiled I was watching Amor Bravio, where the galán went toe to toe with the villain throughout the whole TN. We're in últimas semanas and Ale still doesn't know what he's dealing with.

Madelaine - Welcome back!
