Lo Que la Vida me Robo 175 07/15/2014: Look at what I can do with this gun ma'

Recap fully done!

A new baby has been born, sadly her daddy is a nut job:

At the hacienda everyone rejoices at the birth of a new baby, both baby and mother are healthy and plans are made for both to make a trip back to Agua Azul for a check up. Alejandro Almonte, who is beautiful-but sadly not very bright, tries to reassure his wife by telling her that he will accept the baby as if she were his own, heck, he even says that although it is not possible he would love for the baby to be named Alejandra.

Jose Luis, the baby daddy just happens to walk in right at the moment and he is not a happy camper, he goes off on Alejandro and Montserrat asking them what's wrong with them, how dare they try and name the baby without his input? She is his daughter and he will name her! I kinda want to suggest that they toss a coin and whoever wins gets to name her, problem solved!

Finally, someone has enough common sense to suggest that JL and Alex leave the room so that   Montse and baby can rest, oh and let me not forget to add that when the doctor suggested that they return to Agua Azul to have a pediatrician check on baby and mom our dear JL actually suggested taking the baby and leaving Montse behind, this man is falling apart and it is getting hard to watch him fall into a black hole.

Once he and Alex leave they make their way to Alejandro's office where the men are celebrating the birth of the baby, JL, in major party pooper mode again attacks Alex and tells him to stop pretending that he cares for the baby, he says he knows he will never love her because she is not his biological daughter, things escalate and the two men have to be kept from hitting each other- I wish Alejandro had knocked this jerk out!

The next day Montse and Alejandro are discussing the baby and she asks that JL not be allowed to be near her alone-and then something really sad happens, I almost cried. We learn that Montse has decided to name the baby Romina! Oh, you read that right! Why would someone do that to a poor baby? I am horrified, which is saying a lot coming from me, especially when you consider the fact that I'm planning on naming my first born Pau (after the great Laker center), anyhoo, Alex goes along with this awful suggestion and soon after everyone and their grandmother is in Montse's room to see the baby.

Later in the day Esmeralda goes to see Montse and she is asked if she called JL to tell him about the baby, Esmeralda says that she did not and they both agree that it was probably Amelia's doing. Laurito and Victoria also come in to visit the baby. Sometime later, Montse is wheeled out of her room and into an ambulance along with baby Romi, when out of nowhere JL jumps out and tries to leap into the ambulance. That was weird and disturbing, he tried to kick Alex out of the ambulance and had to be restrained by the men at the scene-he made it a point to scream that no one was taking his daughter from him.

Dear Montserrat and Alejandro- I think you two might want to consider faking your own deaths because I can't imagine the hell you will be put through by Jose Luis-as Scar told Simba in the Lion King, "run, run and never come back"

Part 2

The Scorpion is having girl problems

Nadia and Adolfo are having a little chat, it looks like he has brought up the subject of marriage to Josefina but she keeps telling him she's not ready-maybe deep down something is telling her that marrying him would be a super bad idea?

This is why you don't mess with Pedro Medina

Pedro pays Graciela a visit, he is cashing in on the Sandro favor and wants her to send a few million his way. Graciela tells him that she has no intention of giving him any money, she's sure a rat like him has funds stashed somewhere-he explains that his finances have changed and he needs the money. He tells her he had been hiding out in a makeshift hospital and later managed to leave the country, Graciela wonders out loud who has been helping him and he tells her that's none of her concern, but that it is someone who is also hell bent on getting revenge. Oh man, I think it's JL, we know for sure it's not Adolfo, and it can't be EZ that only leaves JL.

Graciela refuses to give in to his demands for money and in the words of Julia Roberts character in Pretty woman that's a "big mistake, huge". Pedro tells her that as of that moment they are no longer friends (will he un-friend her on Facebook?) and she coldly tells him that they were never friends and that she is re-paying him the favor he did her by not calling the police and telling them he is there, she asks him to leave and to close the door behind him.

Fabiola gets some good news, she is told that she is being released from jail and she says she does not want to leave, she has not yet paid for her crimes yet, especially for being stupid enough to fall for her mother's lies- the attorney tells her that being stupid is not a crime, okay that was just what I thought, not what he actually said. He explains that Alejandro and Montse have taken care of all of her expenses and have worked to get her jail time reduced, she says she has nowhere to go, no money, and no family, but they still kick her out of the pokey.

Upon being released from jail she is met by a man in a black SUV-he then takes her to a house where Medina is waiting for her with a bottle of wine-he poisons her even more against Graciela and gives her a gun-probably in the hopes that she would go off and kill Graciela for him-boy was he wrong.

Fabiola takes the gun and makes her way to Carlotas house, where she finds Graciela praying in the chapel, what do you think Graciela prays for? better fashion sense? the end of the world? A Klondike bar? Anyhoo, she looks up and sees Fabiola standing there looking terribly distressed. It is not long before Fabi starts to tell her what an awful person she is, she tells her she knows who she is and where she came from and that she can't believe she would lie to her in such a horrible way. Why did she throw her to the wolves? Why did she pretend to love her when she never did? Graciela tries to tell her that she does love her but it is far too late, Fabiola's spirt was broken and the girl never had a shot (snort, sorry), she tells Graciela "thank you for giving me life mother" and then places the gun to her head and pulls the trigger, her suffering finally ends.

Graciela runs to her and cradles her in her arms, she screams to the heavens asking God why he did this. Oh lady, this death is on you, your greed and need to have more, more, more has finally caught up with you. Fabiola, may you and your bad hair rest in peace.

Time jump

A year later EZ and Carlota are having tea outside, and they have a cat! I'm always thrilled when there are cats in telenovelas because they are generally ignored in favor of dogs. EZ's political career is on fire and he might have a shot at becoming governor, but today his concern is Graciela, he wants her to get the hell out. He knows Carlota promised to allow her to live in the house as long as she wanted but this is too much, she has enough money to buy a house anywhere else and children to look after her and he expects her to be gone and soon. Carlota promises to take care of it.

Somewhere in the house Graciela sits in a corner of a messy, dark room, she looks like a hot mess and maybe just maybe, she was human and the death of her daughter has driven her to madness. See kids, nothing good ever comes out of being greedy and stealing from your loved ones. And they say tv teaches us nothing!

The previews show us that the bad things are about to happen.

Some People in Aguazul are so demented ,i dont know why Padre Anselmo returned, his mind would be much safer if he went back farming ,atleast he would make up for lost revenue with his chickens:) Its way better than living in that Mugroso Pueblo! The town is in a desperate need of a psychologyst ..

And i guess Hurricane Pedro is on the move reaching up tp Stage Five with scorpionish speed and i was saddened by Fabiolas downfall,i thought she would be resistant to the hatred and learned to move on ..And Seriously is there nobody in town to detain JL for his behaviour ? He is just distressing the baby for his ego, even if he is the father..The doctor is quite nice ,hopefully she becomes the psychologyst of this Mugroso Pueblo soon! Pedro will rot deep in the Seven Hells, there is no escape for him,Hurricane Pedro will have to suffer the worst punishment in the end!

Eli,
Sorry to hear that you are not well. Get better soon!

I know that this has been said before, but MDA has really LOST IT! He has gone bonkers. He is not thinking straight. He is trying to provoke Ale (who is acting very civilized, considering the situation) into a fight. MDA should be glad that Ale is genuine in his feelings for baby Romina. Instead, MDA is acting like a jealous ass. First he wants to take the baby from her mother (to take her to Aguazul), then he gets pissed that Ale is toasting her arrival. WTH?! Ale even handed MDA a drink so they could toast to "their daughter" and all he does is threaten Ale and act crazy. There was no need for MDA to start a fight with Ale when they were leaving in the ambulance. I was not surprised when Montse asked Ale not to leave the baby alone with MDA. If I were Montse I would be afraid that MDA would take her too.

BTW, Montse had a super quick recovery after giving birth. She looked like she could have born a bikini on the trip back to Aguazul. They could of at least put a small baby bump on her. Geez!

I have to say that Ale is being very calm. He stayed with Montse throughout the labor, and he is helping with the baby too. He is really trying not to let MDA get to him. MDA needs to grow up. Montse already told him that she was not going to keep him from seeing his daughter. But if he keeps up with his shenanigans, I would not trust him with Romina. Because he might want to take her from Montse and Ale just to "make them pay."

WOW! I was not expecting Fabby to shoot herself. Totally out of left field. I am not sure what to think of Gracie's reaction. Of course it must be traumatizing to witness a person shooting themselves right in front of you. By the look of the last scene of the capitulo, (and one year later) I assume that Gracie must be in some state of shock.

I am anxious to see what has happened to everyone else one year later. Can't wait for tomorrow's epi.

Off to bed...hasta pronto!

I guess Satan revived Pedro because he couldnt stand the thought that Pedro would put Satan on a vacation and rule Hell for himself! And SS is so fantastic portraying villains ,how does he do that?,the crazy blue eyed look is amazing alongside his ability to control his voice to his needs is so chilling. He is Like The Joker:). I got the chills when Pedro began telling Graciela that they are no longer friends due to his crazy eyes!

Yes, Aunty Ann, that was indeed a remarkable recovery for Monse, who was still able to paint on her tight crotch torturing leggings on after giving birth out of the same area.
REMARKABLE.
And for any of you gents who think I'm just being catty, you try turning yourself inside out after expelling a watermelon size object and then tuck yourself back in, and then shimmy into a tight pair of, well, tights!
Do any of the TN writers know how to spell EPISIOTOMY?

Eli...hope you feel better soon. I'm sure the discussion today will be lively. I stopped watching after Pedro delivered that horrid speech to Fabiola. I sense a horrible tragedy coming and didn't want to go to bed with those images in my mind.

Blessings and prayers for healing...

Pedro was expecting murder and got a suicide instead. And a psychotic break for Gracie. Not a bad day's work for a minion of Satan.

So what hath a woman profited when she shall gain the crown jewels and lose both her mind and her beauty?

She's definitely on the road to Karmageddon.

Eli, I am really looking forward to your recap. I join Judy in hoping you feel better quickly.

Fabiola's death was unexpected but the aftermath, surely signaling Graciela's downward spiral was more so. Perhaps she was not as formidable, not so bereft of the capactity to care as we might have thought.

CountxAlacran, I thought your comments were great. Yes, why indeed did the dear Padre return? And yes, the residents sorely need a psycholgist in residence.

And Pedro? You said it perfectly UA "Not a bad day's work for a minion of Satan".

So a year has passed and not much seems to have occurred except Graciela's physical, mental and spiritual deterioration. I am hoping JL will have sought some badly needed help but I am sure that has not come to pass.

Emarie, I smiled at Monse's outfit of choice after giving birth. It appeared that her motto was fashion first. She obviously defied gravity to get those pants on.

Diana

Looking forward to your recap Eli.But feel better and rest up first. We're all good.

Love your statement on Gaudy/Gracie UA. I couldn't drum up one iota of pity for her. Poor Fabs, at least she has found some peace at last.

And I found it very interesting that the same TN that played up how Esme noticeably looked like someone who had given birth after her little one was born, then gives us the nary a pound image of Monse after hers. Sorry, no way and the fact they poured her into those tight leggings...that was the stupid costume dept. who always gets in these ruts of the same "trademark" piece on a particular actress. Lately for Monse it's the leggings. One of her nice flowing dresses would have been better!

I'm SURE we will all have some ongoing opinions about MDJL today. But let me say, for once, when he tried grabbing Ale out of the ambulance and scaring Monse and the baby...they should have let Mac have at him. My thoughts to ponder with all the forewarning...he's going to take that baby and go on the run. Anyone agree?

Daisynjay

OMG

There is just so much to say I don’t know where to begin. I’m sure there will be lots of comments regarding this episode, so I’ll try to keep this as short as possible which will be almost IMPOSSIBLE!

Based on what Pedro said to Gracie about having a very influential person helping him hide out and who also is interested in helping Pedro seek revenge against his enemies, it seems as if it may be MDJL after all as some bloggers have speculated. He is the only one with influence that we know of. We know it can’t be EZ, because EZ hates Pedro and is scared to death of him.

When Pedro and Gracie were talking, I thought Pedro’s eyeballs were going to pop out!

Fabiola really looked like she had been through the ringer for the last couple of months.

I couldn’t believe Ale giving a tequila glass to MDJL for a toast to “Romina”. MDJL is such an ass. I detest him more and more with each episode.

Esmeralda, stick to your guns; give Refugio hell. He shouldn’t be forgiven!

Boy did Monse get her skinny body back awful quick. Such a contrast with Esmeralda. The writers should have been more realistic and put some padding on Monse.

Fabiola really knows how to hold a gun! Agua Azul police should have hired her, she would have been better than half of the guys.

MDJL trying to force his way into the ambulance is just too much for me! I can’t believe Ale had the control to tell MDJL that he could meet them in the hospital. Ale should have punched MDJL out then and there.

I did feel sorry for Fabiola though, especially her ending. I loved the scene with Gracie’s white lace dress and the blood splatter, so visual. But does Gracie have multiple personality disorder or what? Who knows what to believe about this woman?

Where do they get all these frightening looking scorpions?

CountxAlacran @ 5:40

I loved your comment about Satan and SS eyes and voice!

Fabiola would have been a good SWAT member,a bit drunk but perfect anyway! I find it sad that a drunk woman can aim better then the half of the Public Authorities in Aguazul! And i think Macario could be nice for a Psychologist " Im going to give you a good cake if you will act nice,if not you will receive a nice looking bullet."

Im dissapointed at the thought of Fabiola commiting suicide ,she could have moved on ,ask Ale id she could stay there for a while but i guess Pedro would kill her if she would disobey the order anyway ,It seems that in Aguazulland you just cant say NO neither to Pedro or JL!

Feel better, Eli!

You know how whenever a woman gets upset/crazy/violent in a tn, they always give her a "calmante?" There was a doctor on the premises. Surely, she had some calmantes on hand that they could have slipped into JL's tequila. Seriously. Can't they all see that he needs to be committed to the manicomio at this stage?

Poor Fab. This is the second time that I've seen a tn character insist on staying in prison (the other was the heroine in C.I. and that was idiotic). Clearly, she didn't feel that she had anything to live for, so the suicide was not a shocker to me. I am shocked by how it has affected Gracie.

I wonder what everyone else has been up to this past year?

I say good riddance to bad rubbish. She lost my sympathy a long time ago when she refused to accept half of Alejandro's inheritance (esp now that we know the cash part alone was well over $50MM US) and insisted on taking it all. Telling Monserrat the ugly truth about Gracie's actions didn't make up for that because you can't buy back seven lost years.

As to Gracie, she has been a spiritual desert all along. However, it would be extremely traumatizing to witness a suicide even for someone like her. She threw Fabiola to the wolves, but never in a million years would have thought that this would have consequences she would have to take responsibility for.

If Pedro knows anything about how this affected Gracie, I'm sure he's laughing.

Vivi, you have a great point about how the prison facility can be held accountable. They should have had the prison shrink work on her long before her release. Wouldn't they have stepped in when she arrived and they knew she was an alcoholic?

Eli, thanks in advance for your recap. Hope you feel better soon.

Wow! Another very entertaining episode. I really am enjoying how quickly things are going.

Well done:

Graciela dispensing with Pedro: " we never were friends".

Pedro addressing that rebuff with his deadly manipulation of Fabiola.

Fabiola's suicide and Graciela being splattered with her blood. Another one bites the dust!

One year passing.

Graciela (without makeup!) over the edge crying for a year in the darkness of her room.

Cringeworthy: Carlota's comment to hubby Ezequiel about the world being a much better place without people like Pedro--governor by day drug trafficker by night.

Finally!!!!!!!!!!: Ezequiel telling Carlota that she owes Graciela nothing and it is time for her to go from their home. Let her kids take care of her!

After a year underground will Pedro strike again???? Or at least try to???

Jarifa

This was an extremely upsetting episode for me. I don't have my thoughts together this morning, but I wish I had not watched this episode.

Graciela, JL (especially so), and Pedro, but mostly Graciela and JL literally made me ill last night.

I didn't expect what happened to Fabiola and the rest was too much.

All I can sense at this moment is that there are going to be horrible endings for people. I see no happiness in this TN. Even the birth of a child was ruined by the mad ramblings of her "father".

So much darkness. It's more than I think I can bear at the moment.

Fatima

Feel better Eli! Take your time with the recap.

Fabiola's suicide was the saddest moment in the whole novela for me. It was well performed. A lonely, love starved little girl grows up into a lonely, poorly adjusted, loved starved, alcoholic woman. Graciela played her like a fiddle. A sad end for a sad, tortured little girl.

Graciela's reaction? Who knows. I finally gave up on her. Haha, not planning on killing myself, though!

Graciela was lying through her teeth when Fabiola had that gun pointed at her. It was sickening to hear her sickening voice and words.

When Fabiola shot herself, Graciela become nothing but dirt to me. She is a mother in name only. She is pathetic.

Fatima

Yikes....I was stunned by Fab's suicide in the chapel in front of GaudyGrace. Tragic.

Like so many of you, I giggled at Mony being able to wiggle into those skintight leggings right after giving birth. Having given birth to three children, I know that is a fantasy. One needs a few weeks for things to return to near normal. However, I was even more amazed at seeing Mony sitting on that ambulance bench and holding the bebe for a three hour trip to the hospital.....
que ?

JL is scary, and he is in Ale and Mony's lives until his death due to that poor innocent bebe. Child custody battles are nightmares, especially when one party is erratic and irrational.

Sorry you are not feeling well, Eli. Feel better soon.

Good morning, hope you feel better soon Eli! I also look forward to your recap once you are up to it. And since I couldn't comment yesterday, thanks to Urban for the awesome recap and screen caps!

This episode had me disturbed as well. It was hard to go to sleep afterwards. First of all, I didn't see Fabiola's suicide coming. I thought she would for sure come out a better person and be redeemed. As for Graciela, all I saw were crocodile tears, trying to justify herself. If she had really loved Fabs, she would not have left to Italy, period. She would have stuck by her, visiting her and waiting for her release. Also, I felt there were a few seconds between the time Fabs put the gun to her head and Gracie's reaction time. She could have tried to stop her.

Aunty Ann, I agree with everything you said about JL. That man has just lost it, I can't believe he was trying to take the baby from her mom just minutes after her birth, to travel 3 hours to town. How was he planning on feeding her? Poor little Romina! Bravo for Ale for keeping his calm all this time!

Maricruz

Graciela lacks Jesus and needs to forgive herself. :)

The ambulance thing bothered me, too. Not just MDA starting a fight with Alejandro and trying to force his way in, but the way Monse was seated and holding the baby.

That having been said, I have also heard that Americans are often laughed at for being wussies with all our driving safety device requirements when purchasing cars in other countries and having them modified to suit our standards.

Refugio needs to be a stronger voice of reason in MDA's life right now and I hope Monse gives Amelia holy hell for calling him.

I was reeeeeaaaaallllllly annoyed at Monse's post-partum outfit. Seriously? And forgive me for being a little vulgar here, but after a vaginal delivery, one would expect that she would be wearing one of those supersize sanitary pads. I think that, even if I could shove my Beanie-of-Disbelief that tightly on my head, that there is no way her stomach would be THAT flat AND that she wouldn't be wearing some feminine protection under her sprayed on leggings.

Although I really can't stand JL now, I do feel that he is the baby-daddy and should have been called by someone other than Amelia immediately. Maybe, just maybe, this might have forestalled some of his crazy. Or maybe not!

I agree with you about Monse's clothes here. She should have been in a loose dress to conceal the need for super-maxis.

However, she should have had the last word on whether MDA should have been called. Amelia -- unless she's turned evil -- had no idea what calling him would do. It was none of her business to do this.

Eli, I hope you feel better soon, and thank you UA for yesterday's recap.

I'm not watching every day nor have I watched it from the beginning. With 2 hours of DQTQTQ, one more hour of TNs, this one, might cause my hubby to divorciarme. And it is really dark and sometimes I just don't have the guts to watch. All that being said, I still like it! (;-)

I was shocked with the Fabs - I was hoping she would redeem herself and get to know her sibs. But we all know how TN law works, that she would not kill Gracie. I still didn't see it coming though.

As for Montse - it occurred to me that the actress AB, probably has in her contract that she will never do a scene with anything but a perfect body! Because as others here have mentioned, Esme really did look like she just had a baby. I really don't like AB but I think her acting is improving.

Well, clearly, none of the production team, nor the actress, has ever had a baby-- or that scene would have been portrayed, and costumed, a little more accurately. I know this is a "fairy tale" but still....

Just saw the Graciela/Fabiola scene this morning. So glad I didn't watch it last night. Daniela is such a great actress that I found myself being sucked in by her words. The character, and the actress portraying her, lies so convincingly...and so fluently. Frightening. If there were a real Graciela in my life, I wouldn't have a centavo to my name either!

This story gets darker and darker. Had I known where it was going, I might never have started with it. But the recappers and the community are so wonderful, it helps to cushion the shock of this cruel portrayal.

I don't think so. If you saw the earlier part of this series AB did have a visibly pregnant body and appropriate maternity clothes when Monse had her son. I don't know whom we should blame for this blatantly wrong outfit in last night's episode.

Someone had posted a spoiler about Fabiola's suicide on my watch and I deleted it. I wasn't sure when it would happen, but it didn't surprise me that much. What did surprise me is how short a time she actually was in the slammer. I expected she would do at least three years.

I was surprised too that Fabs was in prison so short a time.

I wanted to ask about the scorpions: I grew up in western Colorado and have seen my share of scorpions - even had one for a "pet" for a short time. But they were small and brownish-red. Never have I seen anything as scary as these critters. Is this how they grow them in Mexico?

After viewing Fabiolas suicide once more ,i was quite saddened that she ended so bad,she could have reunited with her family and be happy.. But of course she was in the end "poisoned" by hatred..I find this song quite fitting, for the Drunken One who fell so hard ,fell out of hatred:)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QEBpm26tFOc

For anyone interested, looks like Uni just started showing a rerun of La Fuerza del Destino during the afternoons in 2 hour blocks.

That was a good, unconventional story but with a very weak lead actress.

Oh, Vivi, I loved La Fuerza del Destino. And UA is right, the leade actress was awful, awful, awful. In fact, usually, if I end up giving up on a novela, it usually has to do with the lead actress and/or a horrible script. Like in Que Bonito Amor. Aaaagh! Someone should have thrown her in FRONT of La Bestia.

Sandra, from LFdD, did do a good job of singing the lead song. But that's the ONLY credit I can give her.

Yeah Destino had so much potential..I did not like the main actress,it should have been someone "stronger", Jaquline Bracamontes maybe ..I found myself bored by Destino many many times ,the only saving grace to the show were Juan Ferrara and Marcelo Cordoba..It felt like it had no tension, everything happened too fast..

Anita:

Thanks for the heads up about Abismo. Even though I won't watch it again (I don't like Sandra E.), I think it's great to know what's coming up re Novelas, as there is very little promotion especially for TLNovelas channel. If everyone would blog when a new TN starts, that would be so helpful.

Thanks for Part I, Eli. And hope the lactose intolerance attack has subsided.

This paragraph cracked me up:

"The next day Montse and Alejandro are discussing the baby and she asks that JL not be allowed to be near her alone-and then something really sad happens, I almost cried. We learn that Montse has decided to name the baby Romina! Oh, you read that right! Why would someone do that to a poor baby? I am horrified, which is saying a lot coming from me, especially when you consider the fact that I'm planning on naming my first born Pau (after the great Laker center), anyhoo, Alex goes along with this awful suggestion and soon after everyone and their grandmother is in Montse's room to see the baby."

Well, I admit, Romina is a name I don't know. And I'm surprised no thought was given to naming the baby beforehand. Especially since they knew it was going to be a girl. Do you suppose José-Luis wants to name her Josephina...or Luisa? since Alejandro was thinking of Alejandra?

Clearly you do not take a nursing baby away from the mother right off the bat. And actually, I'm a little annoyed by the "every four hours" cantaleta that Rosario is preaching. A lot of times, newborns need to nurse every three hours. And when growth spurts come, sometimes every 2 hours. My last child was born with VSD (ventricularseptal defect) which meant she had to be nursed every 2 hours round the clock. I really got no sleep for 14 months. But she's strong and healthy today.

Looking forward to Part II.

Eli, I enjoyed the first half and agree JL was in "major party pooper mode" (at best, but truthfully, exhibiting irrational, delusional, dangerous behavior).

I share the sentiments of all those feeling badly for Fabiola. Perhaps the miracle would have been to have her survive, considering how she entered this world. Was she cursed from the beginning with Benjamen and Graciela as parents? Was there ever any hope?

Maricruz, your "As for Graciela, all I saw were crocodile tears, trying to justify herself" echoed my sentiments exactly. It appears though Graciela was just as surprised as most of us when her daughter took her own life. I'm wondering what is truly decimating her now. Perhaps the sheer guilt?

The previews gave me chilling goosebumps.

Diana

OH MY---"Look at what I can do with this gun ma." That's about what I said last night but I think I said, OH NO!! instead.

Hi Eli---Even though I entered this novela very late, I'm really into it now. Hope you feel better
soon. I know that the recap will be well worth the wait.

Urban---A great line--Not a bad days work for a minion of Satan.

Countx---great comment, the town needs a psychologist more than a priest.
Macario as a possibility? sweets or a bullet. LOL

OK, OK, just about everyone has commented on Montse's skin tight outfit last night that she wore shortly after giving birth. A few compared her look to the way Esmeralda looked shortly after she had her delivery. I'm really laughing because not long ago there were comments about Montserrat's tight fitting pants.
The outfit she had on last night was tighter than any pants that had previously been worn. In fact, when I saw that skin tight body suit last night, I was wondering how she was able to get into it. So why Esmeralda and not Montse? It's very simple, Esmeralda is not the sexy star of the show and Montserrat is. I agree with everyone that it shouldn't have been done that way
but that's the reason why plain and simple.

The gun---A tragic end for Fabiola. I was expecting Mama Gaudy to go down. I didn't know if
Gracie would be killed but I was expecting her to take a bullet. Fabiola must have really lived a tortured life. I also thought that someone might come up behind her and grab the gun but no one was there. It was a very tragic scene.

Scorpions for blind Nadia? WHY???
the gringo

Great recap Eli. Fabiola's death was one of few things in this telenovela that surprised me, not because it happened, but because of how bad it felt to see her die.

Besides, I always have a soft spot for any character Lisset plays.

Pedro Medina might be one of the most terrible villains in telenovelas yet. I wonder how Sergio Sendel deals with all the dark places he has to go to play this character.

Jarocha

SS is pretty proffesional at it,Jarocha,he played many villian roles before but i agree this is his darkest role and also his best villian performance yet:) I hope he wins the Villian Of the Year award.

The recap was worth the wait Eli! Much more fun than the episode. You packed a punch there with scene were they name the baby. I too was surprised. It's not an awful name, but don't hear it too often. Maybe Montse likes different sounding names for her kids. Lauro is one I probably wouldn't have chosen for the boy either but she was naming him after her dad, so I guess tastes differ.

Diana, I think Graciela is starting to pay. In the weekend discussion, my karmageddon prediction for her was that she should remain alive but all alone to suffer and think about all the wrong she has done her family. Like someone else mentioned, Dim and Montse are not the type of people that would just leave her out on the street, but maybe they can purchase her old tin roofed home so she can have a place to live. Her only visitors would be the ghosts of Fabs, Juana, Ben, Lauro Sr,Juvie and anyone else who dies before the grand finale, poking her in the head and telling her repeatedly "Te hace falta Jesus!"...last night's scene with her in the corner, her personal self and room uncared for show it may have started already :-O

Even so, it would be far too soon to kill off Gracie or even put her in the manicomio, which is what I'm predicting for her immediate future.

Neither Monse nor Dimitrio should take her in under their roofs. At this stage if I were either of them I'd seek a power of attorney over her money as well.

As to the avances, it does look like Nadia will be starring in a horror film. I am now afraid for all three children.

As for the name Romina, I've heard that one before in at least two novelas: Salome, and ENDA. In the former she's a dancer who becomes the girlfriend of a med student and in the latter she was the junior female villain (who finds redemption). I like it, but not with the last name Almonte or Alvarez. You should never have the last letter of the first name and the first one of the last name be the same.

Even with JL's pathetic attempts to stop it, I thought if you rode in an ambulance as a patient you had to be strapped in. Monse could have banged her pretty little head riding on all of those back roads to the hospital. And what about the poor baby?

I feel bad about Fabiola. Padre Anselmo would have been there in time but he stopped to lecture Esme about her going back to dance at la Escondida.

CountxAlacran: I agree that this one is his worse. The thing with Pedro is that he likes to play mental games with his victims, which makes him much more menacing.

About the name Romina. I like it. It's not one of my favorites but I find it okay. At the very least she won't get teased at school for it. Lauro, on the other hand, is so lucky for being a rich kid.

Jarocha

Now I am afraid for Carlota's cat.

Thanks for Part II Eli. You're a trooper.

"Graciela refuses to give in to his demands for money and in the words of Julia Roberts character in Pretty woman that's a "big mistake, huge"."

Yes...a mistake...but I always admire Graciela's Green Beret Assertiveness. She will NOT let anybody push her around, including sociopath Medina.

The outcome was tragic but I agree that Fabiola, as the character has been portrayed, would probably not have been able to find happiness in this world. She was not equipped for it. So pulling the curtain down was her best option.

Thank you for this recap Eli!

Fabiola's end was far too tragic. Frankly, I was stunned. Fabiola's torment ended while Gracie's has just begun.

About JL, I think people are being too hard on him. I say this because I have been on both sides of the custody issue. My ex swore he was going to drag me through every mud puddle he could. And he did. He colluded with his sister and my first ex to get custody of my daughter. I went from being a full-time working mom to being limited to visitations of 2 hours every Tuesday and 6 hours every other Sunday. This went on for about 18 months. I won't go into details because it is still painful years later, but I know what it feels like when someone tries to shut you out of your own child's life. And make no mistake what Montse and Ale are doing is trying to cut JL out of his daughter's life. Romina (awful name) is HIS daughter. When Monste went into labor she or Ale should have called JL to let him know. This would have gone a long way to diffusing JL's anger. To say "you can see her anytime you want" and NOT allow JL to be there at the birth shows that they aren't serious about his rights. He has every reason to mistrust them. I guess I'm more sensitive to JL because of the nastiness my ex pulled. I'm getting upset just thinking about this so I will stop.

Eli- Great job with the recap.

I noticed that the cat was curled around EZ's legs when the scene started. I thought to myself, he can't be all that bad if the cat loves him so much. :)

One other tidbit on the conversation between Nadia and Adolfo-- she mentioned the scorpion in her bouquet. Adolfo looked very worried, and by now he should realize Pedro is alive. In the year that has passed, I wonder if he has done anything to ensure the safety of Fina and his family. Likely not.

9 months passed, and Fina still refuses to marry him. I wonder where things will stand with them even a year after that. I wonder if she's also refusing to sleep with him?

Thanks Xlntperuvian for giving us some insight into José-Luis' rage. Those of us who have not been wronged in custody battles, or who have not been spurned and left like he was, can't understand how victimized and mistreated he must feel. But, by sharing our story, you make it much easier for us to grasp what it driving him. The pain is literally making him insane at times.

This site isn't just about learning Spanish. When people share their own stories, we all learn a lot, so thank you.

xlntperuvian- I was also skeptical about Monse and Ale. Now, first let me say that I think JL is in need of serious therapy right now. But I did not for a minute buy that they would have informed JL very soon about the birth. They kept harping on finding out who called JL, but when did THEY intend to call JL? They never made that clear. I could feel JL's ache as he saw Monse and Ale huddled together on the bed encircling HIS baby, and felt how he knew he would be shut out of that child's life (emotionally, if not physically). He is reacting like a big baby to the situation, but that doesn't mean the feelings of being alienated from his one and only child aren't valid. I totally get why Amelia called him. I don't fault her at all. I fault Monse and Ale for not thinking of it, and JL for behaving like an ass once he got there.

Eli: Feel better soon.

Poor Fab. She never stood a chance the moment her parents died. When she held the gun on Gaudy, I kept shouting “shoot her” until she turned the gun on herself, then found myself saying “no, baby, don’t”.

Did Pedro make cruel fun of Fab and her falling for her mother’s s**t?

I feel a little sorry for JL. It must kill him to see Mons and Ale playing happy family with Romina. If he wasn’t so scary, he’d be included in everything. I couldn’t believe it when he tried to force himself into the ambulance. And his saying he would take Romy to the hospital the night before. Taking her away from her mother is bad enough but, practically speaking, baby needs to eat—a lot—and mama is the food supply. Even Ref must see that JL’s behavior is unhinged.

And I like the name Romina. I was surprised, because it seems they usually name babies after someone. I looked up what it means, thinking there might be a clue, but it means “Roman”. Which, I guess, makes sense if your mother is a fake Italian. OK, not so much.

The show had AB dressed in casual clothes. I guess that’s as much as they were willing to go to acknowledge she gave birth.

I’m torn about Esme pole dancing. On the one hand, I think she should do what makes her feel good about herself but, on the other hand, I think there are things that are sacrificed for the good of the child. I’m not sure pole dancing in front of strange men night after night is a thing I’d want my mama to do. I may be wrong. Like I said. I’m torn.

Nanette

xlntperuvian: Your story is like my cousin's. This was also years ago. She lost custody of her daughter (for a few months) because her ex-was too weak to fight his mother and she and others in his family lied about my cousin's mothering skills. Luckily, he found his cajones and righted that wrong.

OT:
The late night tv listings still show Una Familia Con Suerte on Uni at midnight, but I had the channel on by accident and they are showing La Que No Podia Amar, for anyone who is interested. It's fairly early in the story, I think it started after the World Cup.

I don't think anyone expected Monse to go into labor 15 days early. The doctor's presence was a precaution just in case of that.

The expected scenario was that she would go into labor in the course of a normal day and they would have called MDA on his cell from the hospital. He would come from his office or from leaving a crime scene. He and Alejandro would have been coldly polite to each other in the waiting room until the doctor came out to say "Mother and baby are doing fine."

But MDA went over the line when he tried to throw Alejandro out of the ambulance. Had he gotten into Refugio's car for the drive there would not have been a problem.

They have found some adorable and calm babies for this tn. When Refugio and Esme were arguing about her going back to pole dancing (I happily retire my women's lib card for a bit and say I am opposed to this), I was looking at the little Angel actor to see if their interaction was making him upset. He was paying close attention to their interaction, but didn't seem upset until Esme handed him off and left the room. I know it lends great realism to the scene to have a real baby there, but sometimes I think I'd rather have an obvious doll wrapped in a blanket, than see a real baby/toddler have to listen to these arguments-- even though it's all pretend.

Thanks Eli for being part of this great recap team. I knew that the recap would be worth waiting for and it was.
Toss a coin made me chuckle.
What do you think Gracie prays for
better fashion sense--a Klondike bar? LOL
And to sum it up---See kids, nothing good ever coms out of being greedy and stealing from your loved ones. And they say tv teaches us nothing.
With writing like that you must be completely recovered.

A lot of comments about JL and the way he has/is acting. I've been thinking about that. Question
what can be done? He's the Police
Chief.

I cringe thinking about Nadia tonight. Why is Pedro out to get her? Isn't her life hard enough?
She's blind!!!
the gringo

The problem with being a spoiler freak is that you lose the shock factor, du'h, I saw the clip a while ago but I want to congratulate the actresses for a great acting job. Fabiola is the con that got conned by a better con artist. Hasta la vista.Jeez, Monse went to labor early she's not thinking of JL at that moment and calling him after giving birth is fine. He did not need to be in the bedroom with them. His actions clearly proved he is a danger to them. No one in real life who have had an ex like JL stay on their property and refused to leave at that, never!not when their sworn enemies only in novelaland.
Romy

Pedro is out to get her because she is a woman he can't have.

He destroyed her love for him with his cruel rejections when he withheld the truth about himself from her. He worked at destroying her spirit because he couldn't have her physically like any other man might. He is an emotional sadist who didn't have the guts to be a physical sadist with her until she became helpless by being blind.

I fear for all the children, for Esmeralda, for Virginia, Monserrat, and for Carlota's cat.

We can only speculate on whether Pedro was anything like this before his accident. It probably doesn't matter. But we know that he gets off on emotional torture before he finishes off a victim.

Romy- Girl, there has been a LOT of unacceptable behavior by all of these characters that makes you shake your head and say, only in a telenovela. LOL! So, amongst that madness, the JL situation just seems par for the course for these people.

Thanks, Eli, for that recap loaded with details and sauced with snark. We needed some laughs to lighten the burden here. Also thanks for writing when you weren’t feeling well.

Even when a newly-delivered mother feels euphoric, she doesn’t need a sorta crazy bio dad freaking out and making threats.

I agree with EMarie and others that the painted on purple leggings were NOT realistic. Montse was moving in a way to show some post-partum discomfort, but about 98% of new mothers would find such tight britches unbearable (as well as unworkable with the big pads). Ah well, as Gringo pointed out, our lovely leading lady never looks frumpy.

Pedro must have practiced making bug eyes and facial tics while he was away from Aguazul. Gracie’s operating system doesn’t allow for cowering during confrontations, so her reaction to Pedro was typical. She just didn’t know how fragile Fabi was.

When Pedro’s driver “takes her to a house where Medina is waiting for her with a bottle of wine-he poisons her even more against Graciela and gives her a gun.” Fabi’s desperate slurping of the wine shows that she’s still not able to stand alone.

Eli, I had to laugh at this one: “she finds Graciela praying in the chapel, what do you think Graciela prays for? better fashion sense? the end of the world? A Klondike bar?” Gracie’s prayers are probably always self-centered. Can’t imagine her praying for the good of others.

As for the shocking and gruesome suicide, I shouldn’t dwell on gory details, but I wondered at the one small bullet hole. I guess they didn’t want to go beyond the blood spatter, which was enough of a mess for Gracie and us. That was a convincing symbol of Gracie’s responsibility for Fabi’s final fall.

Eli, I commend you for this fine work when you're feeling out of it. We all definitely have a "The show must go on" ethic. I hope you're feeling better. My lactose intolerance has been increasing in the last year, so I know how you feel.

La Que No Podia Amar:

This is a great TN unless you don't like Jorge Salinas. Although in this TN he plays a splendid role.

This TN doesn't follow the same grain as most TNs. It has a different twist.

I really enjoyed watching it and recommend it for those of you who haven't seen it.

I'll pass on Una Familia Con Suerte. I don't like comedy TNs, as I think they are really stupid.

I loved LQNPA because I adore Jorge Salinas. He so owned that character that when he became ill the network still couldn't replace him.

Urban:

I'm currently watching Mi Destino Eres Tu on YouTube and am in love with Jorge Salinas and his acting ability. The script for this TN is really splendid. The words the characters speak have such deep meaning.

Lucero is great here also. She won the Premios award for her role in this TN and Salinas was nominated. The theme song is fantastic (another Lucero great). I'm on episode 50 (about 1/2 way through) and haven't seen Lucero cry too much so far!

However, I passed on QBA with Salinas because I saw the original version, La Hija del Mariachi with Mark Tacher and thought he was so cute and adorable and thought Salinas was too old for the role.

Dear Eli,

Thanks for a fabulous recap, and I hope you are feeling a lot better. You are a real trooper for doing this! I laughed so much at your commentary, and was also happy that you pointed out the cat. I was pleased so see it, too, and even called my daughter to come in from the other room to see it since it's so unusual to see cats in TNS.

Thanks again, Eli!
Best to you and to everyone,
Julia R.

I wonder if the cat belongs to Alexis Ayala?

Trying to play catch up. Urban and Eli, thanks for what I know will be stellar recaps.

Haven't read the comments yet, but "Romina" is for "Rosario" and "Dominga," right?

Thanks Eli. I can't imagine turning out such a clever amusing recap with abdominal distress... with a headache... perhaps... but not with a tummyache... well done.

As a physician I delivered many babies over the years but I avoid discussing the more intimate details so I'll just say this about Montse's appearance and choice of attire for the first post-partum morning... unlikely, bordering on impossible.

About Fabiola... yikes! I sure didn't see that coming.

About Carlota's cat... just beware... remember what happened to Gretel's grumpy kitty in LldA?

Carlos

Guau! I did not see that suicide coming. I was really pulling for a redemption of both Fabiola & JL followed by some commiserating and canoodling and finally conjugal bliss. Oh well! Guess you may be toast after all, JL.

Judy B, Nanette and Vivi, I don't share my story very often. There are many, many incidents I could tell you about. I saved all my divorce papers in a couple of boxes and decided that when my daughter was of legal age I would burn them all in big fire. Last November my daughter turned 22. I got the boxes out of my closet and stood outside and spent about a hour watching the documentation of all that misery burn and slowly turn to ash. I wish it was that easy to forgive him.

Hello there,
I apologize if I am repeating things already commented upon, but I have only had time to read the recap and not yet the comments, AND lest I don't get to it I wanted to tell Eli how very much I loved that recap. My favorite lines (I think, as there were so many):
- "and then something really sad happens, I almost cried. We learn that Montse has decided to name the baby Romina!"
-"Pedro tells her that as of that moment they are no longer friends (will he un-friend her on Facebook?) "
-"what do you think Graciela prays for? better fashion sense? the end of the world? A Klondike bar? "

Truly made me laugh out loud. You know, when Montse said the name I had to keep rewinding. I was SURE that I heard that one wrong!

I wonder if you all commented on the crazy post baby outfit that Montse was wearing? Looked like, "ok, baby is out, now off to pilates class--" or maybe space training? What was thing?! Granted, if I looked like that maybe I would wear it.... nope. I still wouldn't. I would have preferred her to put her bikini back on!

Looking forward to tonight.... sort of. Those promos have me scared!

Rebecca

xlntperuvian....I think that was a beautiful ritual to say good-bye to a very painful experience. But you're right, forgiveness is always a struggle. But worth it to free oneself from the past.

A therapist once told me a folk-tale about a man who could not forgive his wife for her infidelity. Each angry thought was another stone in his heart. Eventually he could no longer walk upright, the weight of all those stones weighed him down

Wishing you all the freedom and joy and hope possible in your life...now and always.

What is next in this time slot, and when? Thanks!

Thank you so much Judy B. You have no idea how much your good wishes mean to me.

I LOVE the comments about the Cats! If the cat likes EZ, he can't be that bad!

I don't even remember what the episode is about anymore!!!

Eli, wonderful recap, know this is a late posting; just now reading it. Thanks for posting even when you are not feeling well.
