And Greta has the putz's number! Yay!
Ha!
I was all about Estefania tonight- the boots, the Havana and this line:
" Es López. Y punto. "
Rocky continues to be an enigma to me.
Navier is still passed out. Smith wants him watched and sedated. She doesn’t want anymore outbursts!
Estfy and Isidoro arrived at Estfy’s house. She goes to her safe to get the red diamond. Meanwhile Yolanda has acquired fish lips and appears to have convulsions as she attempts to talk to Isidoro. Isidoro wants to know about Estfy’s relationship with Andres.
In the middle of Yolanda’s fish lip seduction, Connie calls. Isidoro tells her that he can’t speak but sends her kisses.
Meanwhile Andres follows Estfy to her room and grabs her. Is she going to meet her lover? She’s not going anywhere. Doesn’t she like him? Is he unattractive? He has seen all her movies and the gross men that she’s been with..Is he not good enough? He then threatens to break Esfty’s neck if she screams.
If he doesn’t let her go, she says, they will both blowup. SHE HAS A BOMB! So either open the door or they will blow up together. Estfy shows him the bomb strapped to her and he unlocks the door.
Reina is with Rocky. If Victor knows the truth he is going to kill her. No Rocky says. The PI that Victor hired was really an agent and fed him a false story of her leaving the city for unknown parts. Great, now he is really going to think that she is cheating. She is scared for Javier. He’s fine, Rocky says. He is in jail! Please no one is safe in jail!
Estfy and Isidoro are back in the car. Can’t he drive faster! He doesn’t want to get stopped by the cops. Well if he doesn’t hurry, they are going to blow up! Of course who calls but Connie-was she supposed to call him or was he supposed to call her?? (how pathetic can she be!!)
Victor is seen at the casino playing poker. I guess he is winning because they give him a lot of chips. He then is in his office and Estfy arrives. Here is his freaking diamond. Deactivate the bomb!! Fine he tries to turn it off but can’t! He can’t turn it off. It’s the curse of the red diamond, she screams!!
Greta and Susana are back in the hospital. Susana is not going to leave her lone but she is scared that Victor will tell lies to separate them. Greta love sher and the fact that she is her mom!
Victor still can’t turn off the bomb. Estfy says it’s the curse. That’s stupid Victor says. There is no curse! Doesn’t Estfy want to know how he found out she was the QOD? NO! How about knowing how he killed Lopez? She starts hitting him and somehow he is able to turn the bomb off. She yells, Take his damn diamond and get the hell out!!! (Wait aren’t we in his office???Why would he leave??)
Victor and Isidoro give the red diamond to the hooded man. Victor asks him which organization wants the diamond. He can’t tell him that. He figured that (SO why ask??) Has he heard of the red diamond curse? Does he believe in it? Hooded man doesn’t believe in curses. Victor also figured that!! As hooded man goes to his car, Victor says that he does believe in curses!! KABOOM. RIP to hooded guy and his car!
Victor, Odious Bitch, Clarita and others are gathered in the kitchen to watch Reina’s announcement. She is launching her new collection and it will be the return of Reina de Corazones! ODB bitches…who does she think she is? Cristian comments that maybe she remembers. Victor says no because if she did…..and then mysteriously pauses…
9 DAYS LATER….
There is a red carpet and a very glamorous Reina steps out of a KIA (??) Really?? A Kia?? Victor meets her and Smith is lurking.
Next scene shows Navier STILL passed out and Rocky is worried and tells Smith. Take him to the clinic!! ( I think Navier is faking!) As he is been taken out seems like Rocky is on it and helps Navier escape!!
Everyone seems to be at Reina’s show. Including Navier who tries to hide behind a very big camera lens!!
Backstage Christian approached Reina asking her why she disappeared. Why so many bodyguards? (Um hello someone is trying to kill her-why do you think ? Worst cop ever!) Reina responds that she wants her life back.
Connie arrives to the show and kisses Isidoro. Navier sees this and hides behind the camera.
ODB goes back stage yelling at Reina that she ruined everything. That was supposed to be her collection! She is going to pay!! She tries to fight Reina but Christian gets in the middle.
Navier tries to hide from Smith!
Greta is in a wheelchair and its her first day out of the hospital. Susana tells her that some friends made a video for her and Greta wants her to play it..UH OH its really Camila’s blackmail video. Greta’s BF is there (what a dumbass!!)
Juancho and Lazaro are home complaining they don’t have jobs. Armed men break into their home Juancho tries to talk them to death. But they are taken out of the house.
Fashion show is over (dresses are not that spectacular. Seen better on project runway!!) One of the models is holding a bouquet that has a switchblade. Navier can see it with his super-big camera and tackles the model. Reina sees Naiver. He missed her. He then rolls away!
Everyone keeps looking around! Smith. Reina. Esfty!
Susana believes someone was blackmailing Camila with this video. If she finds out that this caused Camila to kill herself than she isn’t resting until she finds out who was responsible!
Christian tells Reina and Victor that the model is dead and her bouquet contained a deadly weapon. Reina is upset. Victor tries to console her but she can only think of Navier.
Connie is upset because someone tried to kill her former best friend. Good thing she doesn’t work at her company-its too dangerous Isidor\o tells her. Oh and he has saved her number on his phone. Awww its love!
Smith is blowing a gasket because she needs to know WTF just happened!! Christian interrupts asking who is in charge. She is, Smith tells him, but she can’t give him any information because she is not authorized!
Estfy and Andres arrive home. Model assassin? Crazy. Bouquet that contained a weapon-Crazy! Andres acts weird. Estfy notices
Reina can’t believe that she almost died (again) she almost grabbed the bouquet. ODB keeps bitching that Reina ruins everything and she should just die.
Smith asks Reina who hired the model? She doesn’t know-the agency maybe? Can she identify the guy who saved her? No. Happened too fast. Smith is skeptical.
Jauncho and Lazaro are surprised to learn that their dead friend Nikolas is their kidnapper!! They are very happy to see their buddy. Is he with the mafia? No, these people helped him escape and gave him a new identity. Lazaro and Juancho don’t understand crap!! Will they help Navier? Of course they will but help with what? Destroying the man who destroyed his life. Victor De Rosas.
Smith calls Rocky suspecting that Navier saved Reina. She wants him on the phone. Rocky puts a recording of Navier. She is upset and screams that she has video of the incident and will see who saved Reina.
Susana watches the video.
Estfy is puffing on her cigar and talks to another Lopez!! His brother! Thanks for replacing him! I will avenge his death and his wife’s death!! Lopez leaves and Andres says that’s not Lopez! Yes he is! No he is not! Yes he is! Period! She then acts seductively toward Andres..teasing him!
Navier tells Juancho and Lazaro his story. Can’t believe his love was Reina!! Is he getting revenge against her too? It’s already started!
Victor asks Reina if she wants to go home? No I want a divorce! Who is he, Victor yells? This isn’t because of him. It’s her. She can’t remember him. He doesn’t feel like her husband. She doesn’t feel anything for him. No passion. No love. He yells at her that he knows she is having an affair. What’s going to happen?
The scene then cuts to Christian and Victor-there is more to Reina’s assassination attempts-the CIA is involved!!
Navier tells Juancho and Lazaro to wait for his call-he needs them to work close to the Victor. Juancho is excited because they are getting jobs. He then blabs to Navier about Susana killing someone!
Susana knows Camila killed herself because of the video. The BF tries to debunk her theory but she is convinced. Greta than tells the BF that she knew Camila better than anyone in the house!
Smith is irate because Navier’s face is not caught on video! Ummm hello he is a secret agent. That is how he keeps secret! Geez!!
Victor then questions Smith. Smith cant belive he is talking to her. She can’t talk to him about this case but what she can say is the model was a paid killer!!
Esfty is holding her creepy Greta doll. She wishes she could be her legs and arms. Anything she needs in life. Why can’t she be Greta’s mom?
Greta is being mean to her nurse!! (Me thinks-Cue Lazaro being her new nurse!!)
The BF makes comments to Greta about the video. He seems nervous about that video. Maybe he had something to do with it? Him? No he was friends’ with Camila. Good friends. Yeah more than friends-friends with benefits Greta says. No! Yes she saw them!! (Um gross!)
Lazaro and Juancho are confused over who they can talk to about Navier! (Um no one! He said tell no one-how are they confused about that!!)Connie is upset about Reina. They ask her if Reina was really in love with that valet guy? Yes but maybe only when she thought he was a millionaire. She had another side to her!
Reina is sleeping and Victor wakes her up. What is he doing? He knows every inch of her body? Reina is not falling for it. Victor tells her that he will never give her a divorce. As long as he lives! Is she capable of killing him???
Yolanda coming on to Isidro was a hoot.
That whole scene with Victor/Stefy/Bomb/!@#$!Remote clicker not working was a hoot. Did you notice how she kept her face hidden or covered up the whole time? I think the actress had to cover up the fact that she was laughing.
And you’re right, Stefy told Victor to “get out” of his own office.
Yes! a KIA! ( more LOLz)
So Rocky lets Navier sneak out to the fashion show? QTH? . . . Beanie hat time 3… 2… 1 ….
Methinks Isidro really is all that into Connie.
Ah, so Lopez v2.0 is the guy in the karaoke video I linked a couple of days ago!
http://msnlatino.telemundo.com/novelas/Reina_de_Corazones/video/karaoke-con-los-actores-de-reina-de-corazones-cantando-el-tema-bailando-de-enrique-iglesias-video/90d71448-6542-4f51-9a92-295cf38fe347
Yup. Yay! Product placement! ;-)
I think your confusion about Estefania throwing Vic out might be due to my muddy recap on Friday. He told her he would be waiting in her hotel, which kind of had me scratching my head at the time. Estefania has a house, right. I guess the Casion has a hotel attached to it so really it's more like he said "I'll be waiting at your place of business, killing time." I was a bit to literal with the translation. Sorry.
OH! And I loved your description of the maid with Izzy. He's got the ladies falling all over him, doesn't he? I'm with you about Connie being a little pathetic, though. She needs to calm down. Though I don't blame any of the ladies. I would probably act a fool too if he got anywhere near me!
"Backstage Christian approached Reina asking her why she disappeared. Why so many bodyguards? (Um hello someone is trying to kill her-why do you think ? Worst cop ever!)"
But Smeeth put him in his place when she made it clear he had no role in the investigation.
Sara, you are so right -- this episode was all about Estefanía! And never mind the boots, Doris. What about the boobs bursting in air above the bomb? Yikes!
Ok, so Rocky definitely went behind Smeeth's back to help Navier get out. How does he get away with stuff like that?
When I wrote the original comment I almost put "the boots, the boobs..."
But this is such a classy joint I didn't want to sully it.
Is it Tuesday evening yet?
Oh, fashion comment:
Granted, I am know fashionista but I thought Reina's red dress was awful.
Nice. Very nice.
Thanks Caroline for the wonderful recap!
The bomb scene was a hoot. Juan Soler and Catherine Siachoque must have a blast filming that scene.
Speaking about boobs, did you all catch Yoooooolaaaaannndaaaaa (cue Estefania's voice) arranging her boobs when she saw Isidro???
I love how Lazaro was like "We don't even have a smart TV" when the masked men came in with guns. Speaking about where was Roman during all of this?
I loved Andres' reaction when he saw the bomb. He was oh snap I better open the door.
I loved the way Victor singled the explosion of the car.
I can't wait until tomorrow.
That was a great scene.
Oh I have to go back and watch the whole episode again tomorrow!
OT: I read yesterday that Rebecca Jones will be in the cast of Señora Acero, the new Telemundo narconovela with *snort* Blanca Soto. I don't normally watch the narcos, but I may have to check out that one. I really like Rebecca Jones.
Reina's red dress didn't bother me as much as her make-up job especially the eye makeup. Ick. The more it wore off, the older she looked. (during the questioning right after the fashion show)
This entire episode was great.
I'm out all day, away from a computer, and can not wait to read everyone's comments!!!
(erm... would that be the infamous Oxford comma after 'computer'?)
Why does Navier need the help of his untrained buddies when he has a whole swat team who will obey his commands (why?) and kidnap people for him? Seriously, where did Navier get his own swat team?
So now Navier thinks Reina was in some sort of plot with Victor to seduce him way back when? That wouldn't even make sense since that would mean Reina would have met Vic before her last memories (just before she met Nicolas). Color me confused too about why her friends continue to think she dumped poor parking valet for Victor, when by the time they came back in town, parking valet dude was in prison or "dead".
Soooo, what happened to the red diamond? Did Victor give the masked guys a fake one? The "buyers" did check it. If it was the real one, it got blown up in the car, right?
Is Navier going to go back to his cell and pretend he never escaped? If not, why is Rocky covering for him - even playing a fake voice to convince Smeeth that he was still in prison? It would to be a problem if the whole whole swat team knows that Navier was not in prison.
Smeeth set up the worst security ever at the fashion show!
Andres' expression when he saw the bomb belt was priceless.
So do we think that the putz's creditors sent the party video of Camila to Greta and are threatening to reveal that it was the putz who sent it to Camila? If the creditors reveal that the putz sent the video, there is zero chance that Greta will marry him so it's not the best blackmail scheme but whatever.
And like Sara said, Victor was gambling at Estey's casino and then waited in her office.
It doesn't seem Greta cares for the putz, but why be with him when you know he was with your sister!
I think Connie and IZzy are a real thing, because they finally have a theme song. Or at least it's the first I've heard it, does anyone know the name??? And Connie does not know the concept of hard to get, haha but it's funny to watch.
And Reina good try on trying to get a divorce! Doubt it'll lead anywhere since your husband likes to wave guns at you when he gets jealous.
Oh and thks Jean for the article link!
jlk
I was thinking the same thing. She seems to know a lot of about him - like his gambling addiction and that he slept with her sister. So why in the world would she ever have considered going out with hm and worse marrying him! Oh Greta...
It is sung by Fainal y Shako.
You can listen to it here
Thanks, too, to everyone who has already commented. I loved your comments. I've gotta run, but I don't really have much to add to what's already been said. You guys are great.

Sara- I meant that Navier implied that his whole romance with Reina was a set up by Victor (not just the drugs and shootup), which would mean she had to know Victor before the day she and Nicolas met. Since that's the day her memory stops, she should have known who Victor was when she awoke in the hospital if they had been in cahoots from way back. It just seems like Navier and Reina's old "friends" are going on a lot of thin assumptions to believe she could be that evil to do something like that.
btw- I don't think it was mentioned here but Enrique Iglesias did an English version of "Bailando".
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b8I-7Wk_Vbc
Deb- The English version is not as good, but it's nice that Enrique tries to bring the English speakers along.
Yep, that Christian is right up there in the top 5 of all-time useless telenovela cops. He just stands around looking pissed that no one tells him anything. And he spends too much time hanging out with Victor or Susana to solve any crimes whatsoever.
I still don't understand the murder plot at the wedding dress runway event. So one of the models was tasked with killing Reina? What I saw in the bouquet looked like one of those big round hair dryer attachments to straighten out curly hair. Switchblade? I didn't see it. Also, what killed the model. Navier tackled her, I thought, but that was enough to kill her?
Yeah, it makes no sense that Greta would consider spending her life with the putz after she just revealed how much she knows about him.
I think the theme song for this novela should have been by the Talking Heads: "Stop Making Sense"!
Caroline--Really enjoyed your recap. Thanks for being able to do straight reporting with your thinly disguised editorial comments. It adds to the delight.
Sara--Who is it this time? That adorable little boy? Eugenio Siller in 1st grade?
Doris--You need another noun or two for the comma in the Oxford string (I think--. En cualquier caso, I still put it in DEFIANTLY).
Vivi--You are thinking like a rational live human being. I would think the same way. But, here we have a novela that requires 24-hour beanie wearing (a must when thinking about motives and in bed when dreaming of more Navier/Reina pairing).
Connie's flawed thinking isn't really Connie being blind, stubborn and hurt. It's the writers making sure there continues to be a stressful relationship between the two for the story's sake.
At least Connie was willing to tell Reina the story of their "breakup" according to her 8-year old memory (who, remember was MIA for 9-10 critical months). Poor Reina couldn't believe it.
And yes, Reina should wear a beanie, too (maybe that cute red French beret number), when it comes to her timeline with Victor vs. Nicolas.
Just absolutely loving Juan Soler in this role.
& Thanks guys on the info about the song.
I forgot to mention that one of my favorite moments was when Smith was pulling rank on Christian and Victor, too bad it doesn't work as well for her own subordinates.
On another topic, is anyone watching El Mariachi on mundofox?? I never thought I would watch a narco tn but this one has pulled me in.
jlk
Thanks for letting me know that Victor was in Estfy's office! Duh now it makes sense!
For those of you worried about Izzy. Marcelo Cordoba played a character (Antolin) in La Fuerza del Destino who did kill a person and not only was the character redeemed, he got a FPS with his lady love.
And what was the weapon she was going to use to kill Reina?
Whatever weapon the model had was poisoned. She got stabbed with it during the tackle cum struggle.
"I knew it!" says Smeeth angrily to Rocky as she eyes the empty hospital bed. Just then Navier emerges from the bathroom wearing his hospital gown (and pants?) and crawls into bed.
Reina may have been out of the city with the police, but Victor is still sure she has a lover. Isidro gets a rambling Connie call. Victor interrupts it with a raised eyebrow and Isidro leaves the study. Victor activates a secret panel in his bookshelf revealing his safe; inside is the red diamond. He recalls how he palmed the diamond before sending the buyer's brother to his death.
Navier feigns ignorance about Reina so, with Rocky smirking silently, Smeeth tells Navier how a mysterious photographer threw himself on the Model with the Killer Bouquet and somehow contrived to avoid all the security cameras. She tells Navier he is free -- it's the second time she has granted him his liberty. He tells her there won't be a third: he's never going to be locked up again.
When Smeeth leaves the room, Rocky passes a paper to Navier. He looks up Reina's wedding and burns a DVD of what he finds. At home, he studies it and spots what appears to be a sniper on top of the church.
Stefi calls Navier to tell him she misses him and fears for his life when he's with Reina. Stefi was at the fashion show and she knows someone wants to kill that woman.
Reina lies in bed in her high-rise hotel room and remembers amorous moments with Navier. She writes in her journal about her love for him, a love she'll never forget: I'm marked by fire by that dragon's passion. (Estoy marcada a fuego por la pasión de ese dragón)
[This goes in the Wisdom of the Dragon.]
Navier studies a video of the fashion show. He sees Andrés kiss the Killer Model.
Guys in black who say they are FBI arrive at the mansion to arrest Andrés for attempted murder of Reina. Yolanda looks on helplessly, her small bosom almost heaving. Stefi is shocked as the agents carry off stacks of documents.
Reina thinks she isn't hungry until she finds out what's for breakfast -- it's Navier as bellhop. And she realizes she's starving.
Smeeth watches through the glass as Andrés denies any criminal involvement. His only relationship to the Killer Model was a roll in the hay.
Speaking of rolls, Susana walks in on OBD atop Victor, who jovially tells her there's room for one more. OBD leaves. Susana says she has moved into the mansion to be with Greta. She tosses a DVD to Victor and tells him that Camila's suicide was a reaction to its contents and had nothing to do with that Nuñez boy. OBD returns as soon as Susana leaves. Victor tells her the video is old news -- he found out about it years ago. Too late. He tosses it aside and tucks into the OBD again.
Reina and Navier are still going at it, but unlike Vic and OBD, they have a love song. So much torso (drink) and tattoo sighting (drink) that I can't really keep up. She tells him she has asked Victor for a divorce. She wants to be with Navier, as long as he accepts her daughter. She doesn't care about being a queen -- she just wants to be his "Reina."
Navier doesn't really answer Reina. He dresses quickly as he tells her he has to leave before it's too late. Then he looks out the window and sees Estefanía on the patio below. He has to make sure no one sees him leave. Reina wants the world to know about their love.
Her phone rings. Victor is on the way. Navier leaves hastily -- he'll be in touch so they can talk about running away together. Reina, left alone, reflects that she doesn't want to run away (escapar).
Isidro shows up at the Bridal Workshop with a message for OBD, but is ambushed by motor mouth Connie. OBD outs Isidro to Connie as the right-hand man of Victor de Rosas.
Greta's doctor has sent two professional nurses to take care of her at home: a winsome young thing named Betina...and LAZARO!
Victor brings a presumably non-lethal bouquet of flowers, a box of chocolates, and a honking diamond ring to Reina in her hotel room, and proposes to Reina, as if for the first time.
Stefi spots Navier leaving the hotel...
Reina rejects Victor and his gifts. She wants a DIVORCE! He glowers.
"Have you forgotten your vengeance? Have you fallen in love with that traitor again?" Stefi asks Navier.
"I just can't love you," says Reina to Victor.
"Do you love her?" Stefi asks Navier.
"Are you in love with that man? ANSWER ME!" demands Victor angrily of Reina. "Yes," answers Reina. "Who is he?"
"Answer me!" demands Stefi desperately. "That woman is your perdition -- she always was and she always will be."
Reina and Victor move to the window. Victor pulls out a gun and aims it at Reina. "Who is he?" She sees Navier and Stefi kiss on the patio below. She points to Navier: "It's him."
[Doesn't Victor see Navier?] He grabs Reina by the hair and throws her down on the bed. He is capable of killing for her, he says. "Then kill me!" cries Reina.
Downstairs, Navier has come to his senses and detaches himself from Stefi's tempting tentacles. Someone might see them. "Like Reina?" "Like Victor!"
Greta decides that Lázaro can have the job as her nurse.
OBD tells Connie that Isidro loves no one -- he uses and discards women. Isidro says that 1) he is Victor's driver, not his right-hand man (but thanks for making me look good in front of my girlfriend) and 2) Connie is the first woman to win his heart. The Connie and Isidro song plays. Isidro gives OBD a killing look.
Victor waves his gun in Reina's face and tells her no man in the world can love her as he does. He's right, she says. That man just wanted to take advantage of her illness. Victor is slightly appeased. He puts his gun away.
She asks him to understand. She is so disoriented. It is so hard to lose a piece of her life. That's why, he says, he won't give her a divorce. He doesn't want her to regret it later.
But the damned flowers are over! (He throws the bouquet at her.)
The damned chocolates are over! (He throws the box.)
The damned diamonds are over! (He throws the ring box so hard it caroms off the wall. Reina cowers and covers her face with her hands.)
And the damned begging is over!
He glares at her menacingly: "This is as far as I go! I can't do it anymore!"
When he leaves, Reina collapses in sobs.
Stefi just wanted to tell Navier about Andrés's arrest. Navier hopes Andrés IS the one behind the attempts on Reina's life. He reminds Stefi that Reina, dead, is worth nothing to him. Despite her doubts, he isn't about to forget his vengeance. Navier kisses her hard enough to appease her -- for the moment.
[She looks at her giant watch. Possible significant object alert!]
Lázaro starts Greta's rehab with some arm flexing (hers, not his).
Isidro brings Connie home. She is a little mad that he never told her he worked for her ex-friend's husband. He says he tried to tell her many times. Okay. She forgives him. But he'd better not lie to her again.
Susana summons Christian the cop and asks for his help with the Camila video. He backs away as if stung -- he can't help her with anything concerning Camila.
Navier reports to Smeeth at headquarters. They found something bad in the raid at Andrés's mansion -- a virus! The virus that was concealed in the bridal bouquet. It is a lethal combination that can kill a person in seconds. [Oho! Shades of Injecto-Death 3000!]
Victor pulls on a pair of black gloves and enters a laboratory. "Dr. Stuart!" he calls.
Smeeth says the virus is lethal at concentrations between 0.1 and 20%. That would mean a pandemic would kill between 500,000 and 100,000,000 people, says Navier.
"You're good at math," says Smeeth.
"I'm good at almost everything," says Navier.
[hee hee]
They have to find the link between Reina and Andrés. And they have to find the people that Andrés answers to.
Victor comes upon a man in a lab coat lying on the ground. He pokes at him with the toe of his shoe. The man doesn't respond.
"We have him!" says Smeeth.
Lázaro is working on Greta's shapely lower extremities when the putz walks in and punches him. Lázaro seems to know how to take care of himself.
Susana doesn't understand Christian's weird reaction to her request. He says it would have been better if she had never learned what Camila was really like: A los muertos hay que dejarlos descansar en paz. (You have to let the dead rest in peace.)
[This goes in the Book of Wisdom.]
Christian flashes back to a dirty girl scene with Camila. But Susana thinks he's just insensitive because he has never had children.
Housekeeper Asunción interrupts them to tell them the new nurse and the putz are fighting.
Estefi is talking on the phone to someone, presumably a lawyer, and enlisting that person's help for Andrés. She is surprised by her visitor -- Reina -- and even more by what she wants to discuss -- Javier!
Reina saw them kissing today and now she wants to know what there is between them. They're in love, of course! Did poor little four eyes think he really cared for her? He is blinded by rage, by hatred, by a desire for revenge for the hell that Nicolás Nuñez lived.
Reina is puzzled. What does Javier have to do with Nicolás Nuñez? Estefi says that four-eyes can think whatever she likes, but Javier is only with her to exact his revenge. Nicolás was his best friend, and he is with Reina to avenge Nico's death.
Victor can't reach Isidro on his phone. An alarm goes off in the lab. A swat team approaches. Victor moves to an inner room and watches them on a video display.
Estefi says Reina destroyed Nico's life -- and Nico was a good man. Reina says he was a drug dealer. Stefi always had her doubts; in fact she and Javier believe it was Reina herself who planted the drugs in Nico's car. Reina denies that hotly. But Stefi insists that she is trying to convince Javier to leave his vengeance behind and start anew -- without hatred, without resentment, without violence...
A masked man searches roughly in a room dominated by a portrait of Victor de Rosas.
"Hatred is like a poison that eats at you from inside," says Estefi.
The masked man shoots at several photos of Victor.
"All I want is to be happy with Javier."
Two masked gunmen lead an elderly woman out of the Victor room. They shoot the big portrait in the heart.
Reina is defiant. She is sure that Estefi is speaking as the woman scorned. Javier loves her, not Estefi!
Does Reina want proof? Estefi unfastens her WATCH! [I knew it!] She plugs it into her computer and plays a video of Navier saying he is never going to forget about his vengeance.
Reina is impactada!
Deadly Flu Virus? I really had to laugh!
Wow! Another lethal virus. Then we see Victor in some lab. Did he get his Injecto 3000 from this lab?
So someone wants Victor dead too. Another narco brother maybe? Who could the elderly woman be? Victor's mom?
Ok, I was shocked when they showed Camila undressing and seducing Christian. This guy just gets more slimy. Wasn't he her padrino? Eww.
Did someone frame Andres or is he really guilty? I think he was framed.
Izzy says, "Un momento, preciosa," and I imagine I'm standing there and just melted away.
The Kia was a Sorento--2015 model retails for about $25K. Cheap Skates. Surely they could have rented a limo for the occasion.
The Brides' dresses were pretty ordinary. Except for the flapper style, they would have gone straight to the Plus Size department. Not that I have anything against a PS department, having shopped there myself irregularly, it's that most do not trade in high fashion or stunning style--more likely "practical" wear.
The unfortunate dead runway model looked like the dead, fake Queen of Diamonds at the Thompson party. Could have been twins! Maybe she was recycled.
Smeeth was on fire Monday night.
Natalie--Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar?
I noticed those pants, too when Navier got back into the bed at CIA Hdqtrs.
Anita - There are Kia ads during RdC so maybe that was part of the deal?
I wonder if Victor will find Reina's journal. There are no coincidences in Telenovelaland.
Hubby was in the room while I was watching this episode and he pointed out that Susana just walked right into Victor's bedroom without knocking ...
So, on Monday night Laz is unemployed with no leads, and Tuesday night he shows up (voila!) at Greta's in scrubs. Job market just be good in Vegas.
Christian and Camila = Eeeeewww!
The virus: I recall that Victor told somebody that the "ammunition" in the Injecto-death 3000 was a fact-acting virus. Victor must have a good body disposal service since apparently neither the police, the CIA or now the FBI have found the bodies of the other people he killed with the ID-3000 (bracelet model).
Smeeth tells Navier that the model at the fashion show (who did look a lot like the fake QofD's) was killed with an extrememly virulent flu virus. But said flu virus doesn't transmit person to person. If it gets combined with or modified into a virus that can be transmitted person to person, then we have the potential for the millions of deaths that Navier calculates for her. This has got to be the terrorism angle of Victor's nefarious dealings that Smeeth told Navier about when she gave him the assignment.
Where is the secret flu-virus lab? Victor is talking to Izzy, he sends him out and opens a secret door into the lab. Is it in his house or his office?
It was really stupid of mask guys to hand Victor back the red diamond just to put it in the velvet bag (your giant red diamond purchase comes with a free velvet jewel bag!) enabling him to make the switch.
Either Smeeth knows that the photographer who saved Reina at the fashion show was Navier and she's giving him a pass or the security procedures at the CIA headquarters really suck. Navier was able to save Reina, have Juanjo and Lazaro kidnapped and meet with them, spend the night with Reina, meet and talk to Stefi and then hop into bed just as Smeeth comes into the room and nobody figured out that he wasn't there all that time?
Then there was the watch camera. I could hear the beep and see Stefi press the button to start recording but super spy Navier misses it.
The GIANT watch recorder, that even glowed blue when Stefi turned it on, made me laugh out loud. I can't believe Navier didn't see it.
Question: Did Reina really intend for Victor to see Navier kissing Stefi when she pointed out the window? And why the heck didn't he look, instead of going into his violent tirade.
I had to laugh at the skewed perspective. The blue screen skyline outside of Reina's window means she should be 20 or so floors up in Vegas. But looking down outside of her window, she can't be more than five floors up to see that kind of detail with Navier and Stefi. :)
Christian just falls lower and lower the more we find out about him each episode. Dude, your goddaughter! Gross!
You missed a good one for our Wisdom of Dragons Deadpan Delivery List, Navier telling Smeeth, "I'm good at almost everything." However, it *was* a teehee moment. Dang, now I'm going to have to go back and rewatch these episodes to glean more Wisdoms--what torture.
I loved Stefi's and Andres' back and forth over Lopez not being Lopez but is Lopez. There are some very creative writers doing this. I hope they stick to the good stuff.
I can't believe Navier didn't catch the blue, glowing watch Stefi was wearing. First of all it would be out of character. Hers would have been dripping with diamonds and other jewels--and probably be even bigger. Second of all, didn't they teach Dick Tracy 101 in Secret Agent School?
Stefi did a terrific job poisoning Reina's feelings for Navier. She's very clever and logical!
So much happens in these episodes it must be hard work recapping. It just roars along with nary a pause for logic to intrude. Yeah, where was that secret lab where Victor apparently gets refills for his Inject-o-Death 3000 pinky ring.
OK, color me confused. The virus lab, where it appears the substance that was to finish off Reina is manufactured, seems to belong to Victor de la Rosas Enterprises™.
But said Victor seems to be hot for Reina's body, swearing he won't give her a divorce, and madly jealous. This doesn't add up with him being behind the runway attack.
Romy
thanks so much NovelaMaven,
love your recaps!
and love everyone's comments!
and yes Anita, "Stefi did a terrific job poisoning Reina's feelings for Navier".
especially with Nicolas' underlying hurt from Reina, that is driving him on against what his heart is telling him. (isn't his revenge to make her fall completely in love with him so he can hurt her like she did to him?)
the wiki synopsis explains Nicolas at Reina's wedding as he went there to stop it, (which I think was true for him), but when he got there she had already said accepto, so he turned and left, but now we see a sniper on the church roof, and a little of the ceremony, and maybe we'll see more later, that may tell a different story about what was really going on.
interesting how Greta loves looking down on people, but needs to keep them around so she can, and she is working overtime keeping Lazaro by her side, while not giving away, even to herself, her true feelings for him.
hmm, I was thinking that was a vault behind the bookcase, where Victor got out the red diamond to check it out, and that much later, in our jump around fashion, he arrives at a lab, the location of which is unknown to us.
So, if it wasn't Victor using Death by Virus against Reina at the fashion show, could it have been OBD? She's still trying to eliminate her, and, if we could safely assume, was behind the shower shooting. Her mother alluded to her inability to get the deed done, Popcorn Head.
OBD has the opportunity being all into Victor's business, but not the smarts to deal with lethal viruses. Mystery continues. Who will solve it first, Smeeth, Javier, Rocky, or Francisco (who has yet to appear)?
I'm still confused as to whether the Virus Lab is Victor's or whether he was associated with someone (Dr. Stuart?) who worked in a CDC-type lab. Victor didn't seem the least bit startled or showed any concern that he found TODITL (The Only Doctor in the Lab) on the floor, dead as a door nail.
Has anyone noticed that every time the shield of the CIA is shown, part of the name is always cut off? It might be accidental, but I'm on to them (in any case, it's not the official U.S. one).
Reina thinks she isn't hungry until she finds out what's for breakfast -- it's Navier as bellhop. And she realizes she's starving.
I can't do next Tuesday's recap, so unless we can live with a gap in the annals...any volunteers?
Jean, I looked back too and I agree -- there's no hint of a location for the lab.
Doris, as Deb said, there was a safe or vault hidden behind the secret panel of the bookcase. We saw Vic take out the red diamond that he only pretended to hand over to the dead buyer's now dead brother.
BTW, in case it helps -- the recap is strictly chronological.
Anita, I don't think we can say who owns the virus lab yet although Victor seemed to feel very much at home in it.
Novelera,
Since Vic's ID-3000 and the lethal bouquet used the same agent, they are clearly related, but that doesn't mean that Vic is responsible for the lethal bouquet. As you point out, if Vic is so hot for Reina, it doesn't make sense that he would kill her, at least not yet.
Vivi,
"Did Reina really intend for Victor to see Navier kissing Stefi when she pointed out the window?"
It sure looked as if she did. It was an angry reflex after she saw Navier and Stefi together.
I love that you've added the French connection to your avatar, red beret included. (I guess it works for both your novelas!)
Mauricio,
Victor's mother? Who would have thought he was of woman born?
Anita, I'd happily go with MMC (Motor Mouth Connie) -- anything to save a few keystrokes!
Doris,
Speaking of Laz and the job market -- what kind of references could the guy have?
Laz; "I got my nursing degree in prison. I've held one job since then from which I was fired for violence on the job."
Agency: "Perfect! You can work in a private home of enormous wealth and care for a beautiful and helpless young woman."
Thanks for expanding the dialogue on the virus. (I was paying more attention to the funny little dance between Siller and Flores.)
Like Doris, I think Smeeth really knows that Navier was the hero-photographer who saved Reina at the fashion show.
Romy,
What makes you think that Reina doesn't get it that Victor is dangerous? She sure looked terrified of him to me.
Ay ay ay...so much plot, so little sense. I'm in hog heaven!
Romy
I loved Navier's little exchange with Smeeth when she tells him about the flu virus:
(my paraphrased recollection):
N coming into the room to S: You wanted me?
S to N: I never want you.
N turns around and starts to leave.
S to N: Where are you going?
N to S: I'm leaving. You said you didn't want me.
S to N: Come here, there's been a development in the case.
Oh yes, that was a nice little throw-away between Smeeth and Navier. (All that's missing is a laugh track.) Thanks again!
Hey Sara,
I just looked at our numbers:
http://caraycaray.blogspot.com/2013/08/telemundo-y-mas-week-of-august-5-2013.html
On 8/5/13, we had 288 comments, but they were on the subject of several different shows: The final episode of El Señor de los cielos; the premiere of Santa Diabla; and the continuing novelas, Dama y Obrero and Marido en Alquiler.
So as far as one single show getting so much attention, I think you're right!
About the hotel scene, I'm not sure if Reina meant for Victor to see Navier. She pointed, then as Victor was turning, she tried to push his gun hand away & make a run for it(why no, I haven't watch it more than once....). Unfortunately since she didn't hit him in his fun place, he was quickly able to grab her by the hair. That scene was intense, if Victor was playing nice before, his bad side must be pure evil.
NovelaMaven, thanks for your recap, had me laughing throughout! I agree with Anita about the best line. Also loved this one: "Reina and Navier are still going at it, but unlike Vic and OBD, they have a love song."
jlk
Thanks for reconstructing/deconstructing the Reina at the Window with Gun-Wielding Victor Scene. (It's ok. Really. No one here thinks you watched the scene more than once. Or twice. Or three times... :D)
Yes, Navier did promise Juanjo and Laz he'd get them jobs so he probably did use his CIA connections to concoct impressive resumés.
"Now I'm waiting for Juanjo to show up as the pool boy or gardener, which would probably lead to sexy time with Susanna. That lady needs to let loose."
Hah! It WOULD be fun to see Susana and Juanjo stumbling their way into a little bit of mismatched romance.
The Wisdom of the Dragon
Subtitled: I Am Not Making This Up
Mon Jul 7
Always take your dragon to work.
Always “borrow” a Yellow Miata rather than a black SUV when following a pretty girl.
When the object of your interest tells you she is a virgin, tell her you’ll take care of her (this has the advantage of being appropriately vague). Proceed as human nature dictates.
Tue Jul 8
If you have been spotted and identified by a former employer who has eyes for you, make like you are invisible. Toss away your bouquet of flowers, hold on to the handles of your motorcycle and peel out of there, but do NOT say a word.
You may dress up as a doctor and appear in a hospital as long as you don’t treat anyone.
Spending time in prison allows you to hone your fighting skills, poker faces and keep your bod well toned. It becomes especially useful against security guards and assassins.
Dragons get out of everything.
Wed Jul 9
When “the company” changes your name, it’s always to something heroic you have to live up to. In my case it was Bolívar, The Liberator of All of South America (with a few small exceptions).
Learn to climb trees, just in case security guards get too close.
Thu Jul 10
It helps to have a good memory for license plates, even during stressful action-packed events like attempted assassinations.
Study the Complete Guide to Guns handbook and be able to describe every type of handgun without looking, but be careful about sounding too knowledgeable in the presence of ordinary law enforcement officers. It could raise suspicions, if your current undercover personality is a humble taxi driver.
Suck up to small children, especially little girls.
Learn how to draw dragons.
Learn some dragon stories to go along with the drawings.
It helps to plant microphones where the housemaids won’t find them when they are dusting and cleaning (my bad).
Fri Jul 11
Always have a backup in case you need a booty call.
Practice pick-pocketing with your roommate. It WILL come in handy.
It helps to have people confuse you with Sebastian Zurita.
Thus Endeth the First Week
NovelaMaven-Thanks for finding out those figures! 288 is mind-boggling to me (though if you look at a week of LQLVMR comments it's pretty astounding, too.)
What a grim episode, IMO. Reina breaking up with Navier (oh noes!), Reina going back to Victor (oh noes!!!), Navier's heart getting broken (I'll comfort you, young man)
The first time Reina (post-coma) asked Stefy if she recognized her, didn't Stefy say "no"?
If Reina puts on her thinking cap, she might wonder why Stefy was calling her "anteojitos". Or did I miss something.
Victor seemed like a nice person in his abuela flashback. I wonder what turned him into the evildoer that he is today.
Is abuela's beverage what he is sipping from that flask? I got a bit confused there....
Well, at least Sharknado 2 delivered, and that's not saying much.
"Thinking cap" Did you really just say that?? ;-)
I predict the flask will stop a bullet.
In the light bulb box of life, many of these characters are 25 watters. ;-)
The swat team enters the lab while Victor watches. He pushes some buttons on a console and then apparently leaves by another entrance.
The putz objects to Lazaro being Greta's nurse. “Are you going to lose me for him?” asks putz. “If you want to use him as an excuse for leaving me, go ahead,” replies Greta. Putz leaves.
Swat team finds the dead doc in the lab. When the place is secure and helmets and hoods come off, we see that Smeeth is part of the team.
Susana asks Christian to locate everyone who was at Camila's last party so she can find out the truth about her daughter. Susana grew up with a family that sheltered her from real life. Her family thought Victor would be the perfect husband. They had no idea of the hell she lived in.
Victor has gone to see a guy who looks like Leonard Nimoy (not when he was Mr. Spock but what he looks like now as an old guy) He calls him Maestro, shows him the red diamond and says that he has come looking for answers.
Susana tells Christian that she thought Camila was fragile and pure. Obviously, that wasn't the case. Christian says sorry he won't help her. Susana tells him that she will do it alone.
I guess Old Nimoy reads the same websites as Stefi or maybe he wrote the Wikipedia article on red diamonds. Anyway, he tells Victor what we already knew from Stefi’s research - that the stone is cursed as are those who have it. Those who possess it have the keys to hell. Only a goddess or a queen is protected from the curse.
Stefi has used her influence to get access to Andrés at CIA headquarters. He tells Stefi that he's been framed. He is innocent. Stefi points out that he had sex with the assassin who moonlighted as a model. Andres replies that he would have sex with any woman who looks at him. He didn't even know her name. Stefi advises him that next time he wants to have sex, if there is a next time, he should find out the woman's name and check her on the internet. Then Stefi asks Andres why he wanted to kill Reina. For some reason, Andres concludes from this question that it was Stefi who set him up to take the fall. Stefi smiles enigmatically and leaves. [Nobody from the CIA is listening on this??]
Smeeth calls Navier from the lab – they found two bodies. Smith is sure Andrés is behind it all. Navier is not so sure. It might what they want them to believe.
It appears that Old Nimoy has more information. [Tighten your beanies here.] He tells Victor that the diamond is full of secrets. It is one of the four most sought after diamonds in the world. Legend says that the diamond belonged to a 4th wise man [I'm humming, “We four kings of Orient are …”] who got lost or something and didn't make it to Bethlehem. He cursed the diamond. [What? He followed the wrong star? Rats! this isn’t the Son of God, it’s the searchlights for Jacob’s new camel dealership! Curse you, crummy giant red diamond!] Old Nimoy says that there will only be peace when the four diamonds are together. Victor asks Old Nimoy to help him find the other 3 diamonds. Old Nimoy is smarter than Victor; he doesn't want anything to do with the cursed diamonds. He tells Victor that while the diamond is in his power – unexpected things will happen.
Victor somehow has deduced that there a time limit on getting the 4 diamonds together. He asks Old Nimoy how much time he has. Old Nimoy tells him that he has a year. If he doesn't have the other 3 diamonds when the stars come out one year from when he got the diamond, then bad things will happen to you and those around you. You won't be the first or last to die for it.
The old lady who was kidnapped is Victor's granny. The bad guy calls Victor and tell him that they have her.
Reina is back at Carmen's house with Rocky. She wonders why would Andrés want to kill her. There's a knock. It's Navier. Rocky pretends not to remember Navier's name. He leaves them alone. Navier asks Reina how she is. Bad, she says, people keep trying to kill her. Navier has good news – the assassin has been caught – all is ok. Reina flashes back to the video of Navier that Stefi showed her. She asks Navier if he believes that someone could fake nice words, emotions, kisses, caresses. Could someone lie that much?
Navier asks what lies is she talking about? Reina hesitates and then replies with her own lies. She says that the lie is that she dared to have a relationship with him. She says that she was alone, afraid, someone was trying to kill her and he showed up – he took care of her, saved her life but now the assassin is in jail and she can get on with her life. She tells him that there was nothing serious between them – it was only an affair (aventura) - a really good one, but only an affair. Navier says that she is lying and concludes that Victor threatened her. Reina denies that it was Victor. It was her and no one else. Can't he believe that he isn't irresistible, that this was only an adventure, a, diversion, nothing more? Is it so hard for him to believe that it's over and she is not in love with him?
Victor stops in to say hi to Greta. He has to leave but meets the female nurse and Lázaro. When Lázaro is alone with Greta, he tells her that he is sorry that she lost her boyfriend because of him. Greta replies that the putz will be back or he doesn't care about her. Laz tells her that he doesn't want to lose this job. Greta asks if that is because of the money her dad is paying him? No, replies Laz, it's because of you.
Navier is obviously not going to accept an explanation that suggests that he isn't irresistible. Nice try, he says, I know that you love me as much as I love you. Reina tells him to leave her house and her life forever. Ok bye, says Navier and leaves. Reina cries.
Laz is in the kitchen having coffee with Susana. He says that Juanjo is his friend. He's going through a bad time and needs a job. Juanjo shows up.
Vic tells Izzy that they kidnapped his granny, killed everyone in the lab and took all his stock of virus except what he had in the office frig. He only has a small amount to reload the Injecto Death 3000. He's going to need more to kill all his enemies. He says that these misfortunes are the result of the curse of red diamond. Izzy, who didn't get to talk to wise Old Nimoy, doesn't believe in curses.
Victor flashes back to having a lot more hair and a younger granny telling him about how mezcal is made from the agave plan and some other stuff about worms. She gives him the silver flask that he takes hits from all the time. She says that he should keep it next to his heart – it might save his life. He tells her that she is most important woman in his life.
The kidnapper calls Vic – granny is ok. Victor asks what he wants? What every queen needs, replies the kidnapper. Vic tells Izzy that they want the crown. We see Stefi with the kidnapper.
At headquarters, Navier tells Smeeth that Laz is in Victor's house and knows how to get Juanjo in. He trusts them completely. Smeeth tells Navier that she trusted (confiaba) in his powers of seduction and asks why Reina threw him out of her life. Navier tells her that he will find out. He tells Smeeth to keep him informed. Like us, he is having trouble figuring out the connection between diamond trafficking, the virus and the assassin who became a model. Smeeth says will send him info but he might think better when he is separated from Reina. She is messing up his head and without her around he might return to being a brilliant agent. Nav indignantly asks if she thinks there is someone better than he? Smith replies, maybe.
Reina comes to Vic’s house & tells him (while Navier and Smeeth listen) that she wants to retract asking him for a divorce. She thought she was in love with another guy but it turns out he was a liar and a fake. She doesn't want him anywhere near her. She wants to return to Vic (the guy who threatened and almost beat her up) to try again. She wants to try again to have a good life with her daughter if he will take her back. She only asks for time before she has to have sex with him. Can they be like novios until she is ready?
Smeeth asks Navier if they should take bets on Vic's answer. Vic replies that whatever happens, she will always be his. He tells her that he loves her and they kiss. Navier can’t take any more and leaves the control room. Vic tells Reina that has to leave. His Kia awaits.
Juanjo is in the kitchen with Susana. He won’t drink her coffee. She tells him that she has a job for him. She wants to hire him as a private detective to find the friends of her dead daughter. Juanjo asks why. No questions says Susana.
Christián tries to get Greta to divert her mother from investigating Camila’s life. Greta replies that she won't say good or bad about her sister because she knew everything about her including her romance with Christián.
Reina has a reunion with daughter. Clarita tells her how much she missed her mother. She's drawing dragons again and wants a story. Reina tells her story about a dragon who wants vengeance and does everything possible and impossible to obtain it. Dragons are powerful and get what they want as did this dragon. He got his vengeance.
Victor comes to see Stefi in her giant marble bath where she smoking her cigar. Stefi tells him that if he kills her he won't see granny. Stefi knows that granny raised you and is the most important woman No one else knows about her. There’s some more pointless conversation about important women in Victor’s life the only point of which is for Stefi to tell Victor that Clara is Nicolás Nuñes' daughter.
Navier surprises Reina at Victor’s house, I guess. He says that he will kiss and caress her, say such nice words and make such love to her that she won't deny that she loves him. Reina’s ability to deny her love evaporates. She tells him to leave her alone. She says, Yes, I am completely and stupidly in love with you with my whole heart, body, soul etc. I don't lie but you do. You are with me for revenge. Are you going to say that you don't know who Nicolás Nuñes' is? Navier looks surprised for a minute as if he has forgotten that they aren’t talking about him. He say that it's time to tell the whole truth, clear things up, talk about the past and present and his vengeance.
Reina replies that she thought for a minute that he was going to say that it was all a lie and that he does love her. No, he is saying that everything he said and did was for hate, because he is a wounded animal, because he is the living flesh under the skin that she peeled off, etc. Wow, says Reina, all this angst for the death of a friend. You guys must have been very close.
Stefi tells Vic that it was she who helped him many years ago. It was she who told Reina that NN was dead when in reality he was in the hospital. That was before she knew it was Victor who framed him with the drugs. Victor asks why NN was important to her. [Since Victor never saw NN, I guess it’s not as obvious to him as it is to us.] She won’t say. Victor asks if NN was more important to her than him? Stef tells him that he isn’t that important. Victor doesn't believe her. He tells her to leave his granny alone or the only dead one will be her. He pushes her under the water to show how easily he could kill her.
Christián tries to deny that he was boinking Camila. Greta flashes back to Christián staying at the house when Victor and Susana were away and seeing him boinking Camila. Christián says that it wasn’t his fault – he was drunk and she came on to me. Greta replies that it wasn't just one night. She says something cryptic about paying for your errors yourself or by those your care for. When the error becomes irreversible, you pay with death and he knows what she is talking about.
Reina tells Navier that he succeeded in his vengeance. She is desolated, etc. Navier tells her that she doesn’t know the least bit what NN suffered. He woke up from coma to find that the woman he was about to marry had left him for another guy who had money. She doesn't know what he suffered when he was arrested unjustly as a result of a trap by a woman for whom he would have given his life. He was reduced to nothing and it was all her fault. Reina says she wouldn't have done that. She is not that kind of woman. Navier says she did do it – that is the kind of woman she is – a traitor, ambitious, unscrupulous- the worst of all.
Navier’s on a roll now. He rehashes for her their intial meeting and romance with flashbacks – each thought the other was a millionaire. Then they discovered the truth about each other. He was ok that she was simple seamstress but she couldn't accept that he was just a valet parker and the only thing he had to give her was the cross that she is wearing.
Stefi and Vic have another conversation the only point of which is for Stefi to tell Vic that Andrés has been arrested for trying to kill Reina. Vic is surprised.
Andrés is being grilled by Smeeth. He denies killing his father. Smeeth accuses him of killing his father for money and trying to kill Reina when she became a threat to him. Andrés says the wants a lawyer. Too bad says, Smeeth, this is a national security issue you don’t get a lawyer. Smeeth asks him about the lab and the virus. Poor Andrés is confused. He has no idea what she is talking about. Frustrated, Smeeth tells her guys to take Andres back to his cell and keep him from sleeping. She wants to know where Navier is.
Navier is still chewing out Reina for her betrayal. He accuses her of having the baby of the guy who sent NN to prison. Reina denies it. NN was a drug dealer. Navier says no. NN was good guy. He wasn’t into that kind of thing. He had no family and nothing except the cross that he gave her. That was the one thing that he had when he was abandoned as a baby and his only link to his mom. Reina says Victor told her that he gave her cross. Navier says that he has no proof but knows that Vic set him up because Victor believed that he caused the death of his daughter Camila. Now Reina is confused. Was NN cheating on her with Camila?
Reina asks how NN died? Navier says that he had a heart attack in prison. His poor broken heart couldn’t take any more. Reina tries to give the cross back to Navier. Navier tells her to keep it. It belongs to her now but she should never forget that it belonged to a guy who loved her like a crazy person and who died loving her.
Okay, it’s pretty clear where this is going. Frank Marino is going to show up. He is the agent that Smeeth thinks might be better than Navier and since it was his picture in the article about NN’s drug arrest, Reina is going to think that he is NN and Navier will be jealous, etc. etc.
Good to know I was not the only person having a Spock flashback.
" [What? He followed the wrong star? Rats! this isn’t the Son of God, it’s the searchlights for Jacob’s new camel dealership! Curse you, crummy giant red diamond!]"
JEAN! Good thing I did not have a mouthful of coffee when I read that or my keyboard would be fried!!! LOL
On the one hand, Andres is such an idiot that I don't think he was capable of killing his father. On the other hand, he is such scum that maybe he did.
Christian == bottom-feeder scumbag.
Thank you for the AMAZING Wednesday recap, and especially for the Nimoy riff, which was simply inspired!
Sara,
"In the light bulb box of life, many of these characters are 25 watters. ;-)"
Another one for The Wisdom of the Dragon, no?
Doris,
Doesn't Reina's memory go back to her job working on Estefi's vulgar wedding dress, just before she tripped on the front steps of the house? And Estefi called her "Four Eyes" right from the start.
Ah. So now it is Reina's cross to bear...
I have a hard time buying that the woman is Victor's abuela. He's supposed to be, what, in his mid 40s? And so she's in her early to mid 80s? Yeah, sure.
One more thing. How did Estefi know that Clarita is NN's daughter, not Victor's?
I almost had it - the elderly woman is Victor's grandmother not mother.
Victor was so sweet in the flashback.
I was surprised to find out Estefania was behind the kindapping. I wasn't expecting it.
Christian is such a slimeball. Ugh!
I loved that little bit of Juanjo not wanting to drink the coffee for the fear that it might be poisoned.
Romy
You said, "Reina says Victor told her that he gave her cross. --**-- Navier says that he has no proof but knows that Vic set him up because Victor believed that he caused the death of his daughter Camila."
--**--Right here Navier says HE LIED. So Reina at least heard that part. Now I'm satisfied.
I'm wondering how Reina is juggling all these different versions of her lost life--OBD says one thing, Connie says another, Victor dwells on body parts, and now Navier comes up with another version, soon to be eclipsed by Stefi's version. Ay de mi, no wonder she's confused.
Glory be--The Four Kings. I laughed so hard when I heard Old Man Nimmoy tell it with a straight face and then again with Jean's retelling of the story. Yes, it's July and I'm humming a Christmas song, too.
Honestly, if this were a paperback, it would definitely classify as a page-turning pot boiler.
Stefi in a bubble bath to receive a potential killer. Well, she had the goods on him, abuela secuestrada.
The contents of Vic's flask has to be fresh Mezcal. The way he swills it, it wouldn't last 25 years (if, that is, he is supposed to be about 20 in the flashback) I can't believe any red-blooded Mexican [or native Argentinian playing a Mexican] not knowing anything about Tequila, Mezcal and Pulque above the age of 16). I guess Vic must be a little retarded in some aspects.
You were very close, Mauricio, and as Juanita said, age wise, that woman should have been Victor's mother, not his grandmother. But I think I read somewhere that Victor's father is a character in the novela. It wouldn't make sense [I can believe I'm writing that] for the father to not know about the mother.
Yes, where does Stefi get her info? Doris- when Nicolas left Reina on the church steps, I don't believe she knew she was pregnant. She found out afterwards when she fainted or something. The only people who knew were Carmen and Delfina and the proprietor of the bridal shop where Reina worked.
Was there a relationship between Carmen and Estefania? Maybe Stefi got the drug that Carmen used to try and abort the baby.
This reminds me of a question I've had for a while. My recollection is that Victor was surprised to see Stefi at his wedding and that they hadn't seen each other since she married the owner of the casino. On the other hand, I also recall Stefi saying that pre-amnesia Reina knew Stefi's secrets.
Likewide, why would Victor be surprised that the baby was NN's? His motivation in going after Reina was (the rather vague) pursuit of vengeance against NN. He knew about their relationship. Why would a baby be a surprise?
Here's another question. Victor seemed to assume that it was the same person who snatched his granny and raided the virus lab. We know that Stefi did the former. Do we have any indication that she did the latter?
Well, and I cannot really recall if Reina knew she was pregnant when she got stood up at the church. I'll bet you're right and that she did not know. Didn't they want to get married something like a week after they met?
But I have another one. When did we go from three red diamonds to four? Just last week Stefi was telling us about the three diamonds which can't be separated from each other, the curse, etc. etc. Hmmmmm.
I'm pretty sure Reina did NOT know that she was pregnant when she was left at the church. She was shocked when OBD and Carmen so rudely informed her after she came to in the clinic. At the time NN was the only man she'd been with, so if she ever remembers that part of her life, she'll know Navier and Stefie were lying.
OBD & Carmen were pithed that she had never mentioned a guy or that she was even going to get married without telling them.
I'm sure OBD knew that NN was the baby daddy after a few days at home and then conspiring with Carmen to get rid of the brat (because they didn't want to lose their income maintenance). She definitely knew 8 years later when she was taunting Victor.
We see Reina accepting Victor's offer to work in his company and telling him that she was pregnant. He said it didn't matter to him. Who knows, without flashbacks, whether Reina ever told him who she had been with that got her pregnant.
However, knowing how thorough Victor is pretty with background checks, I'm not going to discount the possibility that he's known for 8 years that the child is NN's.
His surprise is that Stefi knew. What did Stefie know and when did she know it?
OT: Which reminds me, John Dean will be giving a talk about his new book at Politics and Prose Friday at 7 in D.C. (I'm a Watergate Junkie.)
I hope I wrote that so it makes sense ...
Anita, they've mentioned four diamonds before. Maybe I let that pass unremarked on my watch, but I'm quite sure I heard there were four.
I loved the lost 4th wise man going to Jacob's new camel dealership!!
Doris, I'm also wondering about your conclusion that Christian is Susana's brother. I thought at first they were going with him being in love with Victor's ex-wife and not acting on it.
Christian is scum. He tries to con the unconable Greta into thinking his jumping the bones of a teenager was a one-time, drank too much deal. She shut that one down fast.
More telenovela folks not telling each other the whole story. If Reina told Navier that Stefy was the one who told her about Navier being with her for revenge, things would possibly clear up faster. But no.
"Rats! this isn’t the Son of God, it’s the searchlights for Jacob’s new camel dealership! Curse you, crummy giant red diamond!]"
I don't even know how to express how much I like it.
Now back to reading the recap.
(One thing I dislike about being back at work is that I don't have time to keep up comments. But I'm not addicted.)
Mistakes 'r Us (or at least, Mistakes 'R Me)
hee hee
As for you Sara, budget for your obsessions!
"His Kia awaits."
I'm getting to the point that I am just letting my little pear half of a brain float gently in the red jello. Each episode leaves me muddled and desperate for more.
Ok, class. You have 15 minutes to complete this verb drill. *creeps to her desk and checks comments.*
thanks so much Jean, that truly was an amazing recap!
wow, and so many details, especially helpful was the curse of the red diamond.
I think the original curse, that Stefi found on the internet, talked about only 3 diamonds.
I think Victor was erasing the security tapes at the lab, so no one would know he was there.
when Victor kisses Reina, Navier can no longer watch, but Smeeth is still entranced,
is it because of Victor?
13 is the number of Camila's friends Susana wants Juanjo to find.
I was thinking Greta was making a pretty good case for Christian causing Camila's death.
See the following passages, taken from NovelaMaven's (ahem) Pt. 1 & 2, miercoles, July 16 recap:
"Stefi tells Lopez that the buyer is offering to pay even more than she imagined; there's something more to this red diamond than meets the eye -- as rare and precious as it is -- and she's going to find out what it is....
"Stefi sits in her dollhouse and does googles. She reads about the Curse of the Red Diamond. As she reads about the possible link of the beautiful gem to suffering and death...
"As Stefi's voiceover continues -- the curse is invoked when one of the three diamonds is separated from the others --
"Stefi continues reading -- only a woman, a goddess, is safe from the curse."
Therefore, I stand by my original statement that First there were THREE and Now there are FOUR.
So much for the isolated, secluded household she said she was raised in. In any case the eewwww factor is still valid if Christian had his jollies with Camila after Susana.
Lo siento mucho. Here is what I didn't tell you. This is from 7/16, about 32" into the show. We hear Estefi's voiceover reading Wikipedia while the screen shows the aftermath of Greta's accident:
"The story begins where the legend ends: the curse of the fourth red diamond began when one of them became separated from the other three diamonds of the same color. Some say it was in the year 1330; others say it was earlier, when the Rey Mago, the one who never arrived, whose origin was uncertain, disappeared mysteriously together with the fourth red diamond.
Otros dicen que la maldición es que el dueño del diamante perdido [gozerá/lo será, hozerá???] también del mundo junto con todas sus desgracias.
Others say the curse is that the owner of the lost diamond will also ________ together with all his misfortunes. Only a woman, a goddess, a queen is safe from the curse."
I guess I can't be trusted. :(
Comment on Thursday's episode:
They are messing with Reina's head so bad.

And it is white, because the good guys always ride white horses ..... er ... drive white cars?
Nia - my telenovela beanie hat is not industrial strength so I spray it with a Scotchguard or Teflon type coating so that things just glide right off it and keep going. One can put an aluminum foil layer on the outside or inside but YMMV.
1) Smith and Rocky know that Reina did not betray Nico 8 years ago.
2) Smith knows Reina can't remember anything that happened in the past 8 years.
3) Smith knows Reina has been fed lies and misinformation, much of it from her team, since Reina lost her memory.
So...what was the point of bringing her for questioning like she's a criminal? And is Navier supposed to be some human lie detector? Why would more seasoned agents like Smith and Rocky need him to tell them when a suspect is telling the truth or not-- according to the Wisdom of the Dragon?
And why would Reina believe that she, and not the scary crazy husband who has roughed her up and held her at gunpoint a few times, would be capable of ordering a hit on the man she was dating?
And why is Navier (and Victor too, but that's understandable) telling Reina that as soon as Reina found out Nico wasn't really rich she dumped him (and then ordered a hit on him!)? Isn't Navier forgetting how relieved they both were to learn the truth and how their romance got MORE intense after that, to the point where Reina accepted marrying him. Why is he committing that part? I guess because him then believing she put a hit out on him would make even less sense than it already does.
I know, I know. I'm putting my new industrial strength beanie on.
It's fun to point these things out but you have to just let it slide and go with the flow.
Something similar occurred to me this morning. When Navier was delirious after being shot, he was babbling to Reina about being betrayed by a woman and was clearly referring to his own experience, not that of his best buddy NN. I suppose that they both could have been betrayed but it's the kind of thing where Reina might have said to him, "So you and NN were both betrayed by an evil woman? You guys had real bad luck." It's also the kind of thing that she will remember later when she finds out that Navier is NN.
Victor tells Estefania she’ll have to wait until tomorrow to get the crown. It is at another bank in a safety desposit box. Vic would like to see Granny in the meantime. Do you expect me trust you? asks Estefania. He sure does because he is a man of his word afterall. If he weren’t then Estefania would have croaked in the hole and Granny would be safe and sound at home. Estefania knows Victor freed her not because he’s a good man but because he wanted to get his hands on the red diamond. Which cost her millions. Well it’s her own fault for getting in betweeen his business deal. They both like the same things - diamonds, danger, cheating, lying, gambling, and winning. Of course there is always a winner and loser. This time however they’ll have to call a technical draw. The exchange will be made in a public place - Camilee.
Susana comes into Greta’s room. She questions Greta about Christian who was so strange when he left. Did anything happen? she asks Greta. Greta lies and says she knows nothing. Susana knows she lies. She can see those eyes of her moving. Well, it’s the only thing she can move! Susana tries to give Greta hope - they’ll get through this. But Greta has no hope. Greta changes the subject and asks her mother if she’ll continue digging into the past of Camila. Susana says she’s won’t. Victor is right and they should let Camila rest in peace.
Juanjo tells Lazaro about his new job - PI. He has to find 13 people - 10 men and 3 women. They friends Camila, the girl who committed suicide over Nicolas. Juanjo no longer believes Susana is a murderer but he does believe that she’s hiding something. They’ll have to find out. They’ll talk with Navier.
Vic has something up his sleeve regarding having to hand over the crown to Estefania. He may be cornered but he ALWAYS finds his way out. Dun Dun Dun.
Navier finds out from Rocky that Reina was at the casino speaking with Estefania. He figures out it was Estefania who blabbed to Reina about his revenge.
Navier visits Estefania who admits to being the blabbermouth. She’s sick and tired of imaging Navier with Reina and thinking that he’ll fall for her. She’s also sick and tired of thinking of him making love to Reina. She’s scared that Navier wil be killed. She already lived through his “death” once and she couldn’t go through that again. She’ll tell Reina that he’s Nicolas. She turns to leave but Navier grabs her by the arm. He asks her: Will you tell her even if I promise to give you the family we neve had if I’m able to get my revenge?
Victor visits Reina. He apologizes for everything - not being there for her, not defending her, not listening, etc. He’s all excited for the second chance that she’s given him. Reina asks him: What did you do to Nicolas Nunez? She tells him she found out a lot of things - she knows he didn’t give her the crucifix like he had told her. She wants to know what other lies and truths he’s hidden from her. Did he hire someone to kill Nicolas? Did he do it to avenge the death of his daughter? Was it him? Umm no, it was you Reina, he tells her. Your the one who put the drugs in his car and you are the one who hired hit men to kill him when you found out he was simply a valet parker, he tells her.
Estefania asks Navier why he’s doing this to her. Why is lying? He’s not lying. He needs the same things she does. Peace. Calm. Someone who loves him for real. Coming home to a place where he knows someone is waiting for him. Knowing that someone misses him when he’s not there. What he needs is to need and be needed. She’ll give him that life because she knows he’s her soulmate and her love. He doesn’t think he’s the best man for her but he’ll always be there. He tells her he’ll never talk about love to her. She doesn’t mind. Her love is enough for the both of them. (Really Estfania? Really?) She wants to get it on with him. He doesn’t. Estefania asks if he’s going to see Reina. He thinks it will be hard for Reina to forgive him. She doesn’t think so. After all it so hard for someone to be mad with him and so easy for someone to fall in love with him.
Reina can’t believe what she’s hearing. It’s impossible! Vic tells her that she changed a lot since her accident. Reina used to be a determined woman. A woman who got whatever she wanted no matter the cost. She’s a woman who loved luxuries, fine dining, and most of all she loved diamonds. Reina says that she’s a despicable woman.
Smeeth is pissed because Navier wasn’t there during Andres’ interrogation. Navier could have gotten the truth out of him. Smeeth wants to go over the case. A night of work is just what Navier needs. Navier tells Smeeth about Reina dumping him because she believes he’s out to avenge his friend’s Nicolas’ death. Estefania blabbed, he tells Smeeth. Smeeth warned him about this. She thought he was smarter than that after all he’s taken on the worst kind of criminals out there and he lets a jealous women bring him down? Jealous women are dangerous, says Smeeth.
Isidro visits Connie for a quickie. He has fifteen minutes.
Reina is disgusted with herself. Vic says he souldn’t have told her all this but he had to when she blamed him. He couldn’t let her think that he had something to do with what happened to Nicolas. She thought that it had been him because of Camila. Victor tells her Camila didn’t kill herself over Nicolas but over being extorted with a video. When did you find all this out? she asks him. You told me, he tells her. He tells her that he forgave her for everything because what else could he have done he was already madly in love with her. He even forgave her for marrying him for money. He talks about what a nice couple they were and how good they were under the sheets. He tries kissing her on the shoulder and Reina rejects him. He apologizes for having lied about the crucifix but he couldn’t tell her that it belonged to the man she had killed.
Navier and Smith go over the case. According to the ballistic report it was the hitmen later found dead (the one who Susana hired) who shot at Navier and Reina in the shower. Navier is skeptical about this. A hitmen wouldn’t have such bad aim. They know where to shoot. They look at a pic of the model turned assasin. Her name is Astrid Jones. She has different aliases. They look at a pic of Dr. Stuart who stopped practicing years ago. They finally look at a pic of Rausen, a scientist. Navier had seen Rausen alive somewhere before.
Victor and Isidro have something planned for the exchange tomorrow. Victor tells Isidro how he was able to change the story around. Its a good thing Reina lost her memory because Victor has become the screenwriter of her life. He gets to change things to his liking. He now has total control over Reina.
Estefania rescues Granny. Granny recognizes Estefania as Victor’s girlfriend.
Navier and Smeeth go over old footage from the casino and see Rausen with Estefania. What is the connection between the two of them? Smeeth makes a comment on how Navier loves deceitful women and women with secrets. It could be because it makes them more interesting. I’ve had too much coffee, says Navier. Rocky comes into the office and Smeeth hands over some papers. Smeeth leaves. Rocky tells Navier that Victor spent the night with Reina.
Reina wakes up. Victor has left Reina a note which says “I took care of your dreams, I took care of you, I love you”. Carmen who is wearing another hideous outfit comes into the room. She’s moved back in. Reina decides to ask Carmen out of all people when she changed so much. Carmen tells her that she was a goodie goodie when she was a poor seamtress but money changed her. She became a monster. They say everyone has a price and Victor paid Reina’s. Reina can’t expect to sell her soul to the devil for nothing. There is a knock on the door. Cops have come for Reina.
OBD is pissed because Victor and Reina are back together. She’s also pissed because Victor is using her mother for his plans. Carmen could get killed! Victor tells her to get lost or else she’ll go back to being the miserable person she was before. OBD leaves. All is ready for the exchange. Victor has an ace up his sleeve.
Estefania and Granny are in the car. Estefania tells Granny to wait in the car while she gets Victor. Granny tells Estefania that Victor always loved her. He never loved Susana. He married Susana out of convenience. The devil put together that wedding. The devil guided Victor’s life. Granny prays. Estefania gets out of the car. OBD sees Estefania getting out of the car.
Isdro has found out all about Andres. Victor talked with his dad. He’s worried sick about his relationship with Artemio being discovered. And that’s without knowing who the Queen of Diamonds is. Estefania shows up. Victor makes a crack about them not selling clothes for tramps at Camilee. Estefania wants the exchange to happen without any of their henchmen.
Greta is a brat to the nurse. Lazaro arrives. He mentions having problems with his wife. Greta didn’t know he was married. He’s not. He is separated. (Then why say you had problems with your WIFE?) She’s the mother of his son. Does he take care of her? Yeah he does. She’s in rehab. Greta thinks he has a fun life because he goes from taking care of the drug addict to taking care of the crippled girl. Lazaro says the “crippled girl” really needed him.
Estefania tries on some lingere in the fitting room. Victor comes in. He gives her the crown. She tries it on. She loves it. Don’t I look like a queen? she asks him. He takes the crown off her and puts it into the bag which he puts on the ground. He begins smooching her. They really get into it and Estefania doesn’t realize when the bags are switched.
Reina is at the CIA headquarters. She goes into the bathroom and runs into Navier. A coed bathroom? Nope. Reina went into the men’s room. Navier asks Reina if she’s over him. She tells him yeah she is. She spent the night with Victor and they made love. He left her tired. Victor is sooooo goood! She tells him that its good he got his revenge because the woman she was deserved it. She leaves and some cops are about to enter the bathroom. They look to see that are entering the right bathroom.
Victor and Estefania are still going at it. He tells her they’ll have to pick it up later. He wants to see Granny. There won’t be a next time says Estefania. Victor leaves. Estefania is about to open the bag.
Victor is reunited with her Granny. They hug.
Carmen can’t reach OBD. She leaves her a message. Asuncion overhears that the cops came for Reina. She wants to know what happened. They get into a conversation where it is revealed taht Asucinion knows a lot. More than Carmen can imagine. She knows things that no one does and that she kept things from everyone even OBD.
Navier and Rocky listen in on the interrogation Smeeth gives Reina. Reina talks about her memory loss. Not remebering her daughter. Waking up and finding out she has things she didn’t have before. Navier knows when Reina tells the truth and when she lies. Smeeth asks Reina about her relationship with Andres. Reina doesn’t remember meeting him. She doesn’t know why he’d want to kill her. Maybe she was mean to Andres because according to others she was a monster. Doe she know anything about her past? Reina says she doesn’t but Navier know she knows something and is hiding it. Smeeth shows her the Paris photo. Was Andres her lover? No. How can she be sure? She can’t be sure. Navier says Reina is telling the truth. Reina mentions Nicolas. She says she knows she left him for being poor. She says she was capable of having him killed and sending him to jail. She says she knows she is reposnsible for his death. If Nicolas were alive he’d want to kill her. Maybe that’s why they wrote “betrayal is paid for in blood”. Navier says no “betrayal is paid for in tears”. Reina mentions only have one man in her life since she wokr up from the coma - Navier. She doesn’t want a future or present without him. She mentions how Victor spent the night at her house but they didn’t sleep together.
Reina visits Nicolas’ tomb. She brings flowers. She asks for forgivness. Navier shows up and says its too late for forgiveness. He admits to being madly in love with her. He smooches her. She gets a phone call. Hello. My love. It’s me. Nicolas Nunez says the voice of Gabriel Coronel on the other line.
Telenovela Beania Hat is on my head and chin strap in place! Purple Kool-Aid is being served on the Patio, with or without ice, and refills are free. (Because, really, for starters --- why would the CIA send “Javier” to Reina’s wedding knowing she would recognize him?)
Vivi – Navier is apparently trained in being a human lie detector. This might be a nod to the TV show “Lie to Me”, where some guy does the same thing by reading body language.
Well, one thing is for sure --- the best way to know when Victor is lying is the moment he opens his mouth.
Navier has been told by everyone that Reina put the hit on him, including Estefy who he seems to trust and believe in. (run Nico! run!)
Carmen’s outfit is yet another crime of fashion. Oh my eyes! Excedrin headache #27!
Smeeth’s comment about jealous women always being dangerous, and the look on her face, seemed to have a certain wisdom to it, as if she knows so well, herself. (?)
Isidro & Con’s quickie; even the music sounded like it was speeded up.
We have had some heavy, dark episodes this week. We need some light comedy to balance it. Soon.
A very slight clarification. Stefi didn't rescue Vic's grandma. She made it look like she rescued her. I guess this was to encourage grandma to tell her things like how Vic has always loved her.
So Navier tells Reina that he loves her because even though he still believes what Stefi told him - that Reina betrayed him - Reina doesn't remember that and amnesiac Reina seems to be a nicer person than she was before and is sorry for what she supposedly did. And, most importantly I believe, Navier now knows that she hasn't slept with Victor. Whew that was long sentence!
The takeaway from the crown exchange is to:
a)not try on underwear even if you are making an exchange in an underwear store (and is the dressing room of an underwear store really a public place?)
b) keep your eye on the merchandise to be exchanged!! Mask guys took their eyes off the red diamond and Stefi took her eyes off the crown box. Where was Lopez 2.0? Why was Izzy able to make the switch? No one was guarding grandma.
Thanks, Doris, loved that!!
This part:
"She knows things that no one does and that she kept things from everyone even OBD."
should say
"She (Asunicion) knows things that no one else does. She knows things that Carmen has even kept from OBD."
Jean: "amnesiac Reina seems to be a nicer person than she was before"
But, Navier NEVER met this non-nice, fancy Reina. He has been told about her, just like Reina has been told about her. The Reina he has met post-coma is EXACTLY like the Reina he knew before he went to prison-- sweet, humble, honest, caring. Shouldn't that be a big old clue for him? Oh, well!
I'm reaching but work with me here ;-)
Romy

I stand corrected. There are Four and not Three red diamonds. I guess I was momentarily thinking of something else when Stefi was reading up on them and didn't hear the number mentioned. (Still 4 complicates matters for Victor since he has no idea where to look for the other 3. Two might have been easier to locate.)
On to Mauricio's recap, comments later.
I think I see Victor's motivation for keeping Reina a prisoner all these years. She's his insurance whilst he was searching for the red diamonds??? Supposition only, based on her name. However, that would be too simple for this story.
P.S. Glad Granny was reunited with Victor. Hope we see more of her, she has lots to tell us.
And Mauricio-Thank you. I missed that bit about the Doc, the model and the scientist. I am going to assume it's important that Navier seemed to recognize Rausen. Are we supposed to know why? Did you see him before and I've forgotten?
Why *does* Reina seem to trust OBD and Carmen? she certainly didn't during the period she remembers, so why does she now?
1)The mystery of who made/sent the blackmail tape which caused Victor’s daughter to commit suicide (leading him to frame Nicolas)—Solved, the Putz did it.
2)The mystery of what Reina was doing in those 7-8 years and why the heck she married Victor
3)The mystery of what/whom Reina was investigating and what she discovered before the wedding
4)The Mystery of the Curse of the Red Diamonds-- Partially solved. Now, the 3 additional diamonds need to be found.
5)The mystery of Navier’s background and true parentage (tied to his necklace, now with Reina)
6)The secrets of the FBI/Agent Smith and why they chose Navier to be their secret agent
7)The mystery of who killed Stefie’s parents, and who the little boy with her was—Partially solved. We know her parents were drug traffickers killed by other drug traffickers and the boy was her brother, who was adopted by a family.
8)The mystery of who killed Stefie’s husband
9)The secret of Greta’s bio mother—Solved. It’s out to all the relevant players except Greta at this point.
10)Who keeps trying to kill/kidnap Reina and why? (tied to #3)
11)Why are so many of us so taken by this goofy show?—Some days it’s more of a mystery than others.
New Mysteries/Secrets:
1)Who sent the blackmail video to Susana after all these years, and why?
2)What’s the virus connection between Victor, the scientists, Stefie and the assassin model?
Mystery to me: What exactly are Smeeth and her team investigating and do they actually have any suspects? Is it drug trafficking, diamond smuggling, viruses/bio-terrorism, murder attempts on Reina? Why have they not brought in Victor for questioning? Have they really not thought that Stefie might also be a criminal—the Queen of Diamonds, perhaps?
Yep, with this tn you definitely need your ears and eyes wide open while watching.
That must of been somewhat cathartic for Navier when he was telling Reina what NN suffered because of her during the end of Wed. episode. I can only imagine how his relationship with Reina must be messing with his psyche. He loves/hates her because of her "betrayal", but even after losing her memory of him, she's fallen completely in love with him all over again, just like the first time. It must be hard to hold on to his hate when she declares such love for him.
Reina must be going crazy too with her memory loss, and everybody's version of her past. I guess it's only fair that if we viewers have our mind's going every which way, the leads must suffer too!
Sara, exactly this! "Each episode leaves me muddled and desperate for more."
On a side note, I've actually been in a coed bathroom. I can tell you it felt super weird having a guy wash his hands right next to me. I also couldn't help but laugh at the look on the cops' face when they were entering & saw Reina/Navier.
I wonder if Stefie & Victor end of together again somewhere down the line? They sure seem to love playing cat & mouse.
jlk
What has Isidro found out about Andres? Whose dad was Victor talking with, his own? And who is worried sick about his relationship with Artemio being discovered?
thanks so much Mauricio!!!
what an excellent recap, it surely filled in a lot of holes for me.
Stefi must have spent a lot of time at the cemetery visiting her daughters and Nicolas' graves, but from the leaning little cross at Nicolas' grave, it now looks neglected.
can we say for sure that Susana hired a hit man, for some reason I'm confused about this, and about that dead guy with the card, the queen of hearts or was it diamonds?
when Granny started talking about Stefi being the one for Victor and then praying, the looks on Stefi's face were cracking me up, she just had to get out of there.
Reina in the men's room, HA!,
I guess this is just another example of how totally confused she is.
weirdo cop Christian, is the only one not hitting on Stefi, could he be the brother?
on the virus, didn't the cops find some when they searched Andre's, and he thinks Stefi set him up.
"What has Isidro found out about Andres?"
He wasn't clear on what he found out. He just said he found out some things. I think he was referring to the accusation against Andres.
"Whose dad was Victor talking with, his own?"
He was talking about his own dad.
"And who is worried sick about his relationship with Artemio being discovered?"
Victor's dad.
I noticed the disgusted look on Reina's face when she saw who signed that lovely romantic billet-doo she found on the pillow. Would she have wished it to be from Navier?
deb-- to answer your question..."didn't the cops find some when they searched Andre's, and he thinks Stefi set him up." Yes.
There's more to Reina and Andres than the photo taken in Paris and us overhearing that she had found out who killed his dad, Artemio. Now we can presume Victor's dad had something to do with Artemio and voila, another mystery to add to Vivi's.
Doris--If we eliminate the men Stefie has boinked (that we know of-- Victor and Navier) that leaves Juanjo in the running as little brother. It can't be Lazaro because he and Connie know their past history.
I wonder if we've seen the last of Putz. He still needs to pay off his gambling debt. If Victor loans him the money, he'll owe him big time.
The crown switch was cute. How many times have we seen the briefcase switch and never raised our eyebrows. ITA, though that a rather primitive dressing room for an upscale intimate apparel store requires a few turns on the beanie screw. Even Sears has doors on their dressing rooms. Since it's Victor's place, they probably let him come in and the clerks probably know Izzy as well.
Will we be introduced to Victor's dad soon?
I have a theory (based on NOTHING) that the gangster who killed Estefi's parents will turn out to be Victor's father. (Okay, based on something -- the guy's face reminded me of Victor's, just a heavier and rougher version.)
Very frustrated. That little red light that says it's recording is just taunting me.
This is actually the website/app I use. Since I have cable with one of their approved providers (I guess that's how to put it) I can usually watch the next day. "On Demand" may not have been the correct wording.
They cable guy should be here between 8-10 tomorrow. So by tomorrow afternoon the recap should be up.
I've had this problem even since I switched cable companies and always on my recap nights. It really bothers me when I can't recap. Makes me feel irresponsible and flakey.
