The return Lo que LA Vida me robo 171 07/09/2014

I hope you all had plenty of tissues on hand tonight because this episode brought on the feels! I swear ninjas broke into my house and started to cut up onions-and my eyes got all moist...that's my story and I'm sticking to it! Now on to the recap, enjoy!

Dude,our mom is a scumbag:

Fabiola, our resident drunk is now behind bars, how she has managed to survive without her wine is anyone's guess, she tells her new found siblings that Graciela is a big fake, everything about her is a lie, including her name. She explains that Amalia told her the truth about Graciela, she was born in poverty to a seamstress and her real name is Gaudencia! She also explains that she got tricked into transferring all her money to one of her mothers accounts only to be ditched. Alejandro and Montserrat feel for her-and Alejandro offers to get her a lawyer to help reduce the time she spends in prison but he makes it clear that he can not forgive her and he tells her that she needs to pay for the fraud she committed and for stealing seven years of his life.

Fabiola is defiant and tells Alex that she does not need or want his forgiveness, for all she cares she can stay in prison forever. Montse tells her that she does forgive her, she feels sorry for her because she understands what it's like to have Graciela ruin your life, Fabiola seems surprised to hear that and I can't help but feel a little sorry for Fabi, had she been a better woman she could have found the family she wanted, she would have had three loving siblings, a nephew and I'm sure even Rosario would have taken her under her wing, she could of had everything she wanted and more and instead she got cheated not only out of millions but also out of having a loving family, that kinda blows. Oh wait, I just remembered how horrible she was to Montse and suddenly I don't feel that badly for her, sometimes you get what you deserve.

Ways to identify a dead body

At the morgue Refugio and Dimitrio are discussing whether the body that was found on the beach is that of the evil bastard also known as Pedro Medina, everything seems to point to 'yes', they found his wallet and the scorpion necklace on the body, however, the body is bloated due to the time spent in the water and some sea creatures also snacked on it so it's become very hard to say with certainty that it is in fact Medina. Dimitrio asks about the DNA test results and the doctor tells him they are still waiting on them, Dimi does not look convinced. Victor arrives with Nadia and she asks the doctor if the body was missing certain "bits", the doctor confirms that the body showed signs of genital mutilation (oh man, never in a million years did I think I'd write something like that!) and Nadia tells the men that Pedro was missing his boy parts and she is sure that the body under the sheets is his. I hope and pray that these people follow up on those lab results because as we all know "yerba mala nunca muere" and I don't believe we could be rid of that monster so easily.

I knew it, she still loves him!

Josefina and Alex are having a gossip session and he tells her everything about Graciela, including how she tricked Fabiola out of the money, Josefina is horrified but not surprised, she expresses concern for Dimitrio, first he lost Monica and now he has to deal with the news that his mother is a lying liar that lies. Alejandro takes the opportunity to ask if she still loves Dimitrio and she says that she does, he will always be the love of her life but he no longer loves her and while she loved him she also realizes that he was the biggest mistake of her life.

The conversation moves on to her relationship with Adolfo.
Alex does not fully trust him and asks Josefina to be careful, she tells him that Adolfo has changed and that he loves her, she also tells him she understands how Montse must have felt years ago, because she has found that it is possible to care deeply about two different men and she thinks that with a bit more time she will fall in love with Adolfo and everyone on the patio groans. Nadia and Victor arrive and inform Alex and Josefina that the body found is in fact Medina's (don't forget the DNA tests y'all), with this ale excuses himself and tells them that EZ has arrived with Padre Anselmo and he is off to see him.

I'm not evil and this is so unfair

At the cupcake shop Jose Luis arrives for his meeting with Macairo, Mac gets right to the point, he reminds JL that when he first married Montse he promised to always make her happy and he has not kept his word. JL argues that he is doing the same thing that Alejandro did years before, he used tricks to hold on to Montse and now that he is doing the same thing everyone is treating him like the bad guy and he is not. Life is so unfair! Mac reminds him that it is only a matter of time before Alejandro is proven to be an Almonte and when that happens Montse will once again be Alejandro's legal wife, what will JL do then, keep Montse chained up? JL tells him that wont be necessary and then takes his leave.

Mac tells Dominga that JL wont give up and that he is stubborn, Dominga tells him that soon someone will arrive that will set him straight and then she hints that she has a secret that's huge but won't tell him what it is, when Mac tries to get her to spill the beans she says 'sorry, can't tell you, isn't awful when people keep secrets from you?" oh burn!

Jose Luis is running out of time-

So he goes to visit Maria, the only person who is willing to help him, and dear Carlos, Maria might be crazy but she looks good! She feeds him the story that she and Alejandro are lovers and they make a plan to have Montse catch them together, JL tells Maria the plan has to happen that same night because "tomorrow will be too late for me" and she agrees. She tries to get him to stay longer for some fun but he refuses to take her up on her offer.

The Reunion

Montse and Rosario are in the backyard of Carlotas house, they miss each other, after having lived together for years the separation is not easy, Rosario says she does not want to bump into Graciela and Montse fills her in on her mothers recent bad deeds, Alejandro arrives and Carlota explains that they were able to distract the guard that's keeping tabs on Montse by offering him baked goods.

Montse tells Rosi she has a surprise for her and then gently turn her around, and there's our beloved Padre, a bit older but he has both hands and looks healthy enough, Rosario hugs him and it's clear that she loves the man. Padre Anselmo then sees his boy Alex and they embrace, Alejandro introduces the Padre to Laurito and tells him he is his grandfather, and Laurito says he has heard a lot about the Padre, especially about how he took care of his dad when he was a boy. The padre tells Laurito that the last time he saw him he was half the size of his cane but now he is a big boy and he hopes to preform the boys first communion.

Laurito then wonders if this means that his mother and father can be together again which confuses the padre, the child explains that when everyone thought his father was dead his mother married JL, the padre looks horrified, don't worry padre, everyone on the patio had the same reaction as you.

Finally Padre Anselmo, Montse and Alejandro sit down and catch up, he asks Alejandro when he has to be at the judges office and Alejandro tells him he has to be there in half an hour, Padre Anselmo springs up and tells Alejandro to get moving, he is ready to tell the judge that his boy is the one and only heir to the Almonte fortune.

They arrive at the judges office and Padre Anselmo tells the judge that he is ready to give his declaration, the judge tells him its too late which sends the padre into a fit, for a second there I thought he might have a heart attack! The judge excuses himself and says "I'm sorry, I don't think I explained myself properly, your declaration wont be needed because the will that Alejandro brought in has been deemed to be real, Mr. Almonte as of today you get back your name, your property and your money"-about time we got some good news around here!

Adolfo learns the truth

Adolfo is having lunch with Josefina when she informs him that EZ arrived with the padre that morning, Adolfo has a look on his face that says he is uber confused, she explains that for seven years EZ kept the padre hidden in an effort to protect him from Medina.

Adolfo later shows up to EZ's office and demands to know what else EZ is keeping from him, he says he has carried the guilt of being responsible for the death of the priest for years only to find that EZ lied to him, he does not trust him and he believes that EZ was the one who helped Medina escape after he got shot. EZ denies this and tells Adolfo he only did what he had to do in order to keep Pedro happy.

I kinda don't like you any more

Laurito is back home playing with a toy car when JL calls him over to see if he wants a playmate, the child is clearly not happy with JL and the man can see this, the boy then asks his new step dad to allow his mother and himself the ability to live with his father- JL relents- maybe because deep down he is a good person, or maybe because he knows that at this point he just can't win. He tells Montse that as of that moment she is free. He wants to know what will happen to the baby and she says he can see the baby whenever and as often as he would like. He wonders if he can maintain a relationship with Laurito and she tells him she needs to discuss that with Alex, he begs her not to keep him away from the boy and she agrees, she says that if Laurito wants to have a relationship with him she won't stand in the way,she thanks him again and he tries to tell her that no one will love her like he does and for good measure he throws in that she betrayed him-umm okay, maybe if you had been honest with her you would not have found yourself in this situation Mr. needs to shave. He also tells her that he wants to keep the house so he can feel her presence (creepy!) and she agrees, she tells him she will start to pack and that she will be gone the next day.

Quick addition; Refugio goes to tell Amalia that Pedro's body has been found and she's all like "yay he is dead" and then explains to Refugio why she married the bastard, gosh, you know you are a bad person when people celebrate your death.

Join us tomorrow when stuff happens!

Eli:

This was a delightful recap, airy and light as a feather. Thank you so much for capturing the joy in what was one of the most "up" episodes we have had in a very long time.

I don't know about Pedro being REALLY dead. I find myself asking, where did he find another eunuch to take his place in the drink? Did someone think to ask if the mutilations were HEALED and scarred over? I know, I know, we are talking TMI here but enquiring minds want to know. He does have a rather distinctive set of scars with which to identify his sorry body.

Thanks again, Eli, for this recap. I enjoyed it and your tone so very much. Your work is like a breath of fresh air here on the Patio.

Thanks for the wonderful recap!!!

I missed the episode last night and hope to watch before tonight's epi.

Sounds like JL gave up Montse nicely so that he'll look good when whatever plan he and Maria cooked up happens.

I'm really hoping that once Fabs is completely sober for awhile she will redeem herself. I blame a lot of what she has done on her wine dependency. Costs a lot of money to be an alcoholic. Would be great if she, Montse, Dim and Alex teamed up to bring Graciela down.

I'm worried about what happens when Pedro will decide to pounce. I'm sure he is scheming for revenge while recovering. I mean we all know he's still kicking.

Thanks for the recap Eli. I enjoyed your asides especially about Dim and Fina.

I'm with EJ (Hi friend. I hope you are well and settle in your new place) and don't think Pedro is really dead.

While Fabs must pay the consequences for her actions, as Eli wrote, her current state is sad. And with genes from Benjamin and Gracie, she needed to be raised by good and kind people b/c left to her own devices, she continued to make really bad choices.

Adolfo kind of hinted at what happened to "identify" the remains. As soon as Eze told him how he fooled Pedro about the padre being dead, the light bulb went on in Fofito's head. "Oh, so you have contacts at the morgue, hey? Ahh, I see ... contacts you can use at any time ... hmm ..." I can see the hamster spinning that wheel in his brain. Who's to say that if the morgue person supplied a hand to Eze before, he wouldn't make the entire s-morgue-asbord menu available to him for the right price? Properly butchered, too, for a "small" bonus! Ewwww!

Yikes...sounds like Pedro had his minions murder somebody and do a few choice amputations. Ugh. As you said, never thought I'd be typing the words "genital mutilation". Had to skim this fast because our torn up computer ledge is being re-stained and I have to be OFF the computer. All night! So just wanted to thank you. Always enjoy your breezy style recounting these gruesome events. Lightens the dreary horror.

Pedro could have easily survived, hid himself somewhere safe and with the help of his men find a scapegoat for the body( They found someone, killed him and mutilated him) .Though i must say the doctor is quite incompetent, why didnt he show the body for Victor to see, atleast a picture would have been nice or was he working under Pedros orders (we had a corrupt doctor once)?

I feel bad for Fabs but shes got what she deserved and needs to pay for her actions,Glad JL let Monse go but for how long until JL and Ale will be "brawling" again? These two never stop, they are like Stephan and Damon gosh atleast they are able to work together and one of them is dead ,for now..

Very nice work, Eli! Thanks!

"JL relents- maybe because deep down he is a good person, or maybe because he knows that at this point he just can't win."

Or maybe because he is counting on Maria to carry out her plan and expects Montse to come running right back to him.

My favorite line/set-up of the night:
Bringing Poor Blind Nadia to the morgue to identify the body.

So Dimitrio is the brains of the outfit, huh?

Perfect timing-I needed a nice lunch break today and your recap was so entertaining. Thanks Eli.

I did enjoy the Padre reunion last night, and I get the chuckles watching when he gets all upset at people. His reaction to JL being Monse's hubby was priceless. I get Adolfo being all pissy to EZ, but honestly, you aren't exactly a stellar example of someone who's been above board with people. The honor among thieves is breaking down big time.

So apparently if the "body" they were checking had to be triple checked for other ID, or lack thereof, take it this person was pretty messed up. Which isn't what happened...so my guess is this is some poor slob that was killed and made to be as close to a Pedro body as possible. Who could help pull that off? Moment of silence for the poor slob on the slab. (but Pedro's little secret is sure getting air time now).

I'm starting to really dislike seeing Fina and Adolfo together now. Just bothers me he is pulling this secret life that is getting darker and darker with her. I really get the bad vibe she will be put into harm's way because of him.

Daisynjay

Because this is a (lazily written) novela, they're going to completely gloss over how if it were Pedro's body the mutilation shouldn't be fresh, which if they used another body and hacked it up it definitely would be.

I'm really thinking Graciela has Pedro. It seems odd she's now gone at the same time.

Anon: That's a really good observation about Graciela possibly having Pedro. Maybe we will find out he blackmailed her into helping him. Definitely could see that happening.

Thank you Eli---for a great read,
much appreciated.

I joined the party late so I don't know all of the evil peoples
bad deeds and their reasons for them but everyone is down on Maria
so I am sure that her pretty face is the only thing pretty about her. No one has mentioned the advances yet. Maria in bed with Alejandro---Montse isn't going to be a happy camper tonight.

I have seen the dulce cupcake shop several times now but have never seen anyone baking the cupcakes. Do they just magically
appear? Where is the baker or is that too much to ask for, a minor
thing that is to be overlooked?

Eli, thanks for the fantastic recap. I am glad you mentioned how long it took the judge to finally come out with the favorable findings for Ale. Yes, I thought that poor Padre Anselmo was going to have a heart attack, too.

Anon 1:20, you made a very good point about a new mutilation vs. an old healed mutilation.

I liked that JL came around to his senses at least on the surface so that Montse has a chance to leave in peace. He was so pathetic but then there are the avances:.
Looks like Maria is going to hit Ale in the head so he is unconscious and have him "sleeping" in her bed with her so Montse can see that they really are lovers. Something similar happening over in QPTR except there the galán is drugged. Looks like it must be a popular novela device.

Jarifa

Eli, I laughed at "Dude, our mom is a scumbag". You nailed it - what an honest, refreshing beginning!

"she could of had everything she wanted and more and instead she got cheated not only out of millions but also out of having a loving family, that kinda blows" and "I'm not evil and this is so unfair" were a few of my favorites.

I have purposely avoided commenting on Ale recently, but I must do so now. The character has shown little growth and exhibits a visible lack of maturity. I feel Ale's resentments continue to simmer and stew, his anger seeping to the surface beneath his handsome countenance. While Monse "tells (Fabiola) that she does forgive her", Ale retorts "he can not forgive her and he tells her that she needs to pay for the fraud she committed and for stealing seven years of his life". His life will soon be restored. Fabiola never had a life and while she made grave mistakes, will be condemned to be imprisoned with no one on the face of the earth who cares about her or for her. Could he not be a little generous? Forgiving? He cannot see beyond himself, always wanting to right the wrongs everyone else has perpetrated on him.

I replayed the scene with Ale greeting the Padre in my head several times. It was not the emotional reunion I anticipated. Where were the tears and bear hugs from Ale? He continued to hold his son and gave him a one armed hug that would have been appropriate for someone you'd seen a month ago. There was no emotional heat here whatsover...

That said, I think Rulli is doing a masterful job with a character that is unlikeable at best and skirting the border of anti-galan behavior at worst.

Carvivlie, I do think Fab deserves jail time but I also hope she has a chance at being part of her family. As you noted Karen, Fab seemed doomed from the start by virtue of who her parents were.

It appears that JL has finally come to his senses. Appears. I will wait to see what happens tonight before I say more.

Well, Fina admitted she still loves Dimitrio. But, will the other shoe drop? I feel he is conflicted and hope they do not reconcile until he is ready to be "all in"...

I have no doubt Pedro is alive.

Anon, maybe you are right and Graciela does have Pedro (?) After Amelia's little rant last night, I don't think she has him so....

Thank you Eli. I'll echo elna june's this was truly a "breath of fresh air"

Diana

Gringo, hiiiiiii!

Daisynjay---I agree that the Padre's acting was a golden moment in last nights show. I kept thinking, calm down---heart attack?
the gringo

Thanks for the recap Eli! Pedro will reappear like Freddy Kruger, I just know it. I'm with Dimitrio on the DNA tests. If "Pedro's" body was gnawed on by fishes wouldn't they also have gnawed off the "Rocky Mountain Oysters"?

I also think that Pedro is with Graciela. We know she owed Pedro for saving Dimitrio from the carcel after they framed JL. Did she ever pay back that favor? Who knows? Maybe Gracie and Pedro have had a thing going on all these years after Benjamin Almonte's death. I just can't see Gracie living a life of chastity. ;) Maybe she and Pedro are hiding out at the hacienda.

I agree that this is a lazily written novella. I think that's because they've extended it too much. I find the scenes with Montse and Ale just b-o-r-i-n-g. I don't even care who Montse ends up with I just want her to go away. Josefina is so much more interesting.

I was thinking about the Lt A. that Ref killed back in the dim and distant. I’m wondering if that was a case of bad writing/directing. Maybe the intention was for it to be self-defense, but the execution (no pun intended) didn’t make that clear. And they either thought it was, or they didn’t have time to redo it.

I’m not liking what’s going to happen tonight. I wish Mons wouldn’t be hookwinked, but we have too many eps to go and I guess we could be in for one last hero/heroine breakup before the end?

Nanette

Thank you for this lovely recap! I agreed with your comments about Fabiola, I did almost feel bad for her but no matter what a sad lobely life she's had, she's still responsible for the actions and decisions she's made. She didn't have to commit fraud to steal an inheritance, she also did not have to treat Monse the way she did, so yes she got what she deserved.

I was also afraid Padre was going to have a heart attack! I started yelling at the TV "Ale get Padre to the hospital now!"

Ugh, Maria. I agree she is beautiful but... her lies were disgusting and the way she swears she's such an amazing lover is just nauseating! I said it yesterday but I'll say it again, I want a slow, painful death for her! Kendra Ferreti's death is too good for Maria!

I agree with everyone that believes Peddy is not really dead, he had plenty of people working for him that could have helped him orchestrate his scheme.

Not really looking forward to tonight as the avances gave a lot away :/

Bring out the tiniest violin for JL. Boohoo freaking hoo. He didn't let her go because it was the right thing, or he realize he's an idiot. It was clearly a trap since he is hoping Maria's and his plans will separate them. He can look like the "good" one releasing her from her prison and Maria will end up getting the most blame for what happens from the advance. I hope he dies soon. I can't stand him and sick of seeing him on my screen.

Glad Alec got his name back & hopefully soon his family.

When the good padre said he had been on a retreat (casa de retiro) for 7 years not one of the those pendejos had any follow up questions, like why did you you have to leave town so fast and why didn't you tell us? We were sick with worry.

And what's up with your casita with the dead chickens?

Even if Maria's plan works and Montse sees her and Ale in bed together I hope Montse will have learned enough to not believe everything she sees and to not go back to JL. Can't the girl be on her own again? She doesn't need a man; seven years told her this.

This comment has been removed by the author.

Obviously EZ burned down the house while the chickens were served on a dinner plate( he likes them dead) with Pepperoni, testicle soup and Cocaine Tea:) And the main dish was Maccaronis with Smoke marinated Avocados ,prepared by Maria The Chef obviously :)

Oxnard Huero you made me snort! LOL So true that no one asked questions! All they cared about was that he was there to give his testimony for Ale! I hope we see some questions tonight though, Rosario is not that selfish and Mac for sure will ask about the casita with the dead chickens lol. I meant to say lonely in my previous comment not lobely lol

CountxAlacran that is hilarious! Love the meme you posted!

I also wanted to comment on JL, I agree with you Anon 2:38, I don't feel bad for him at all! In my opinion JL only let Monse go because he knows Maria is going to come through for him. Why else would he tell her that she's going to realize he's the only one that really loves her and that's why he asked her if she would forgive a betrayal. That SOB! Even if he believes Maria's lie he is guilty of participating in her scheme because he's still trying to manipulate Monse to come back to him after what he knows is going to happen tonight.

Oxnard, let's be honest here. Are any of these, maybe Fina excepted and Dim is getting there, anyone who you would want to have your back at any time. If there wasn't something in it for them, so not sure I would want to be buddies with any of them, and that goes for Monse and Ale. I remember early in this TN that we all commented on how Monse, though we were supposed to feel so bad for her, was somewhat self-obsessed. As Judy brilliantly pointed out once, every one of these characters is greatly flawed, just some more than others that led to them doing despicable things.

I'm seriously considering not viewing tonight because I know the whole "let's drug the galan" plot line (which TN writers really need to stop using) will just make me want to throw things at the TV or get ticked off. And JL being smug is one of THE most unsightly and unwelcome scenes I care to see. And why put my poor furry friends through that??

Daisynjay

why does everyone in the novela think that Fabs HAS to pay for her crime? especially when so many of them never paid for crimes they commited. dim never went to jail for planting evidence. refugio never went to jail for that officer that was killed in his and jl's escape. alejandro never went to jail for almost killing jl, holding a woman against her will and for destroying evidence. jl never went to jail for escaping from prison or using another identity. angelica wasn't sent to jail for bribing a police officer and helping a fugitive escape jail. there's probably many more examples, but why isn't anyone claiming justice needs to be served for those crimes, but so insistent that fabs pay? couldn't alejandro forgive her and not present charges, like jl once did for him and so many other characters had done for them? why justice now?

Exactly. He also told Montse he was faithful to her , and she would know the kind of man Alec is vs him as well in the previous episode too. Hope their plans blow up in their faces. I have faith that Montse won't believe it given Maria's track record in the past.

Anon 3:39: Excellent point!

Great recap-- many thanks!

Diana, you started to hit on something that bothered me. Ale can't forgive Fabi for stealing 7 years, but, um... I seem to remember that JL gave 7 years of his life for a crime Ale committed. A little self reflection? From Ale? Nah!

I'm super annoyed by the promos for tonight. Why anyone on this show would believe anything out of Maria's mouth or in her apartment or having anything to do with her is ridiculous. And how Montse could buy it is silly (of course I don't know how they are going to spin it or set it up).

What can I say. I grow weary. When are ultimas semanas?!

Re Peddy-- I'm gonna vote for EZ. I don't see Graciela having him and I think EZ is gonna tie for ultimate villian with Gracie in the end.

Bye!
Rebecca

JL spent years in jail for a crime he committed himself.

Alejandro has a right to be still upset at a person for being part of a plan to accuse him of murder and steal all his money. Montserrat's forgiveness is great and all but I don't think his lack of one means he is less mature than her or that he is not a good person.

This novela has a really great cast and all but the writers ruined it slowly the main love story is silly and its basically two guys sharing the same frivolous woman.....like seriously i think it is ridiculous that montserrat is going to have a baby with jose luis i mean in the first place she should have never married him so quickly,... she herself admitted that she could not stand be alone and so she accepted jl...the week jose luis walks out of jail she meets with him and they start dating again..... and also you'd think that if her love for alejandro was sincere she would have never slept with jl again or atleast would of ceded so easily..ugh i dont like montserrat at all i think she's a horribly written character...But this novela was very good when it went off Bodas de odio the writers would literally copy scenes from the orignal but now that they've gone off on their own tangent especially after alejandros accident it is a complete disaster....i mean in the original alejandro robbed montserrat before she married jose luis.............bleh this version is terribly adapted

Great work, Eli.

Anon 2 3:39, if Fabiola had truly been looking for family as she said she would have accepted Alejandro's offer to share the inheritance with her. Had she done that Pedro would have had a much harder time of bringing those false charges against him that ultimately cost him 7 years of his life and all his current grief with JL.

No; she wanted it all and was willing to do whatever it took to get it all, including the destruction of Alejandro's life and family.

JL willingly did the 7 years in the slammer over the evidence. It's not fair for him to try to hold that over anyone's head now.

And I agree with everyone over the point about how nobody should believe anything Maria says.

Finally, a reminder: When Maria was wasted on drugs she once admitted to EZ that she was the one who shot Monserrat. So that makes two people who know and did nothing about it. How EZ can even sleep at night next to Carlota with that secret says there is no redemption for him.

Thanks for this fascinating and lively recap that zips right along accurately and effectively revealing and, where necessary, ridiculing last night's events. Good job.

I also thought the welcome back Padre celebration was rather ho hum and tepid. EZ did admit prior to his return that he had been hiding him out to protect him from Pedro but I would have liked to have seen a bit more enthusiasm for his return. By the way, has there been any mention of a replacement priest for the past seven years or have those folks of the community that he served been priestless all this time?

Wouldn't it seem that as often as it occurs in Telenovelandia, that when you see your significant other in bed with another, the first thing you would expect or at least suspect is that he was drugged? In any event, I'm still looking forward to tonight to see just how María and JL pull off their torrid little tableau starring Alejandro.

And credit to little Laurito, at this young age he has already developed a rather serviceable stinkeye. Even with those dorky specs he got his message across to JL.

Carlos

"torrid little tableau"

Well put, Carlos! You have me laughing!

Eli- I loved the recap-- it moved along quickly and hit all the right notes. Especially in your descriptions of the identification of "Pedro's" body. The looks on Dim's and Ref's faces when Nadia described Pedro's shortcomings were hilarious. I guess they understand a little better why she ran off with Victor now. :)

JL did not make any plans with Maria to fake Ale being caught in the act. He thinks this is standard operating procedure for them, and just wants Maria to make sure they have one of their usual trysts that evening, so that he can rip the blinders off Monse's eyes before she moves out.

Since Monse has caught Maria and Ale in compromising positions before (remember the shower?), and knows Maria was always behind it, I'm hoping she keeps her cool this time as well, and quickly realizes it must be some trick of Maria's. In fact, that's what I'm going to predict happens, and instead be disappointed if she reacts like an idiot.

Even though JL was being calculating, I also think he was genuinely moved by his interaction with Lauro. We saw more tears and emotion in that scene than we saw in the scene with Padre's return. I agree with you all that the emotional umph just wasn't there. But loved that Padre hasn't lost his ability to become excitable.

What a fun recap Eli! The only highlight for me last night was Padre coming back and Dominga finally giving Mac a taste of his own medicine, with the secret of Padre A coming back.

I agree with all of you who thought Padre A was about to have a heart attack. How sad would that be? He comes back after such a long wait, just to die a few hours later? Next stop after the judges office should be a health center to check him out.

Karen, you are right about Fabiola: "While Fabs must pay the consequences for her actions, as Eli wrote, her current state is sad." I continue to feel bad for her but I also understand Ale's resentment towards her. Unlike Montse, who at least got to watch her little boy grow up, and was surrounded the love of her son, Rosario, Dim and Tia Carlotta, Ale was in a coma for 7 years due to Fabs, and missed all that. He just woke up not too long ago, so it will take time, but I believe in the end, he will forgive her too. Perhaps if she serves time, she will also grow a bit. And he did say he would get her a lawyer to try to reduce her sentence, so that to me shows some growth.

As for the avances, not looking forward to tonight. I really hope Montse doesn't fall for Maria's trick. Way to sink even lower in my book JL, teaming up with Maria!

By the way, did Admiral Robledo's funeral already take place? There was no mention and no appearance by Tia Pru anywhere?

I'd think Gracie would be a little apprehensive returning to town with several people gunning for her. But then we're talking Gracie here.

I don't think that Fab has done anything worse than Ale has done. Ale gets a pass because he's the galan.

urban:
while all that is true, my point is, many of the characters have done things that have broken the law. many of them dont regret their actions and could have taken other, more law abiding, actions. so, why didnt they have this sense of moral justice to pay for the crimes they or the people around them commited, that they have for fabs crime? why do they all feel she MUST pay? why not drop the charges and show her mercy, the same mercy they once received?

some other examples of people not paying for their crimes are dim and adolfo for all the money they stole from josefina. graciela conning fabs out of her stolen money. maria for assaulting carlota and attempted kidnapping. even to some extent macario and amelia for kidnapping when they made graciela believe the baby was dead. alejandro for assault when he went semi crazy and punched that guy in the street.

Dear Eli,

Thanks for a great recap. I didn't get to see last night's episode, so I really appreciated your summary and your funny take on the drama. I always laugh a lot when I read your work.

My favorite line: Dude, our mom is a scumbag.

Thanks again!

Best to you and all,
Julia R.

Anon- Very true. Of ALL the many crimes committed in this tn since the beginning, only JL has spent any significant time in jail-- with very brief stints for Ale and Joaquin (until his suicide). (Not counting Rosie who went to jail for a crime she did not commit before our story started.) I wonder who else will end up in jail by the time this is over?

Last night I actually started laughing when Monse and Rosie were going on about how much they miss each other-- they just saw each other the night before! Then I started thinking about how despite her "imprisonment" and JL's guards and threats, Monse and Ale see each other every frigging day, spend almost the whole day with each other in beautiful homes and settings, even get the chance to have nookie. And while he was a "fugitive" Ale was also living a pretty cushy life at Fina's, and going wherever he wanted-- even hanging out on the open PATIO of Monse's bakery. Such a hard life these two are living. LOL!

There was another annoying plot point, already stated by Eli in her recap.

It was Carlota saying that she "bribed" the guard Nava with pastries. This conveniently allowed Ale to reunir with the padre along with the others.

With Carlota, one has to wonder if say there were a ducena of pastries in that box, how many were actually left for Nava the bodyguard to consume?

And, if Ale still says he won't go after his fortune (now in Guardencia's hands) because they made a deal than he is stupider than Macario, which is almost impossible to imagine.

Vivi, thanks for a great laugh! ITA that Ale and Montse's "Oh, woe is us" tales are hilarious. Ale and Victor live a great life while sponging off Josefina. She should ask those two layabouts to Get A Job or at least get out of her house.

I think the terms of the "deal" he discussed with Gracie was that she would get everything, not just the cash. With her out of town he might just think he's finally bought her off for good, particularly after Monse stated that she will not forgive her mother anymore.

However, we all know better.

I could see Gracie going through that money in a year or two and be crawling back to Aguazul to try to fleece Alejandro or JL (assuming he's alive and free) once again. Alejandro will have built up what is left to him at this point and JL doesn't have anything to spend money on at the moment.

My vote, if I were advising these people, would be for Alejandro and Nadia (as the ones with dinero) to sell all their assets and move their families far away.

Anon, Gracie, Adolfo, and Maria will pay in the end for everything they have done. Tomorrow I will post the Karmageddon discussion so everyone can say their piece about this.

As for Alejandro's assaulting the guy in the street, I think that was sloppy writing. We should at least have been told at some point that the victim didn't press charges because he thought Alejandro was drunk, or something.

I personally think that Dimitrio's punishment was to fall in love with Josefina and then to lose her for 8 years.

As far as kidnapping goes, I don't think Macario deserves to be charged with anything. He saved Fabiola's life by not letting Gracie know she didn't die. Who knows what Gracie would have done to her since she would have stood in the way of Gracie marrying Lauro? She might actually have killed her even if only by abandoning her in a bad neighborhood.

Where Madelaine? Does anyone know? I hope she's ok. Jl made it seems like he gave up because he thinks his plan with Maria will work, hopefully Monse grew some brains and does not fall for it.

Quick question:I'm on the East coast and last night my dvr was thrown off. Show times were one hour behind. Does anyone know if it will happen again today?
Thanks
Maricruz

Maricruz- Everything started on time today. There was no game today.

urban:
regardless of their respective karmageddon in the end, im soley talking about everyone's insisting that fabs HAS to go to jail. taking everyones past issues with the law and not being punished by that law (not by their final fate), why are they so adamant about it?

as for the macario example, if that case was taken to court, what graciela would have done with the baby would have been pure speculation and macario, amelia, and benjamin would have all been accused of kidnapping (and possibly his sister and her husband if they knew about everything). this is novelaland though, so I understand that not all the characters will receive equal treatment and equal punishment.

UA and all the recappers, a BIG THANK YOU!! I have been trying forever to post a comment from my phone, but they all seem to disappear into Neverland. (I'll use the PC instead). I hope JL soon comes to his senses and that the writers are kind to Adolfo and Carlota. EZ is so smooth he makes me laugh.
Thanks again all for your hard work and brilliant recaps.

More power to anyone who can post comments from a phone. Mine has a QWERTY keypad but I can't stand typing on it because it takes so long. I couldn't type comments like these if I had to use my phone.

ok, thanks Vivi! :-)

OK, once more:

Fabiola's actions didn't just rob Alejandro of his money. They also made it possible for Pedro to bring fraud charges against him, robbing him of his proper identity. That made it not only possible but easy for Gracie to lie in front of the judge to get the murder charges brought. All that led to the escape attempt and the plane crash that cost him seven years of his life.

Losing $50MM isn't what bothers Alejandro, it's the seven years he can't buy back.

Anyway, the official Karmageddon discussion will begin tomorrow at 11:30AM EST. Everyone please drop in to contribute!

JL will not be on the list because we should probably discuss him separately. But that could change tomorrow.

Great recap, Eli. I really like reading your insights of the show.

One aspect of the plot that I don't get is Amelia's purpose in marrying Pedro. Yes, she wanted to go "undercover" to help JL get evidence against him, but what exactly has she discovered? It seems like a wasted 7 years for her.

Another thing, I wish Angelica would come back as a ghost and haunt JL. She could ask him what the heck he is doing. He's such a monster now. I'm sure she's disappointed in what he has become. I can't stand him anymore.

I'd settle for a nightmare or a near-death experience.

Eli,
Thanks for the awesome recap. Wonderful to read. Clear, concise and to the point.

I agree with all of you about the Padre A reunion. It was kind if blah. Although I did like the Padre's reaction when he found out that Ale was accepting JL's baby as his. That was priceless. Ale and the Padre were excited when the judge said Ale had his name and inheritance back. They shared a warm and heartfelt abrazo.

I HATE BM!

JL is a fool to think that Montse will run back to him, and an idiot for believing BM. And I'm sorry, but JL is involved in this scam with BM. He met with her in her apartment and formed a plan. BM would take care of Ale, and JL would take care of Montse. So no matter how you look at it, JL involved himself in one of BM's plans to separate Ale and Montse. PUNTO!

Back to work...hasta pronto!

MDJL is a douche bag

Victoria I heartily agree! Maybe he should now be MDJLDB?

At this point, I don't think MDJL is redeemable. He’s just gone too far. He is in total complicity with Maria. He has left enough “tips”, such as: when you find out what kind of man Ale is, you’ll coming running back to me; the only man who has truly and faithfully loved you like no other, blah, blah, blah. He is setting everything up because he thinks Monse will come running back to him, thus, the “noble (ha)” gesture of letting her leave. Like we all really believe that!

I didn’t have a chance to watch Bodas de Odio, but think that Amor Real was my favorite novela of all time. Univision originally posted that LQLVMR was going to be an “updated” version. However, I think by extending this broadcast, the writers have gone way off path. While I enjoy watching this novela, I wish they had kept more to the original storylines.
