Pobres, Wednesday: World-cup shunting claims another victim

Hi guys, the game was wrapping up when I left home last night, so I assumed my extra hour of recording time would be enough to catch our show. Unfortunately it went way late and I only captured the first 15 minutes!

I couldn't find recordings of the episode in the usual places online, so I'll just do what I can with what i've got!

Lupita is confused - where's her boyfriend? The family attempts to comfort her. Leo also wonders where he is, wants to call the policuqui, but Saul says they gotta wait 24 hours.

HAHAHA Mini, her mom, and Ahole struggling to heave Mike into the bed. Ahole wants the discovery to seem natural and insults the ladies (he calls them plásticas).

Emiliano continues to be a little twerp. Lupe's mom wants her to chill out and drink her tea.

Don Chuy is caught on a mysterious mission (is he going to get booze for AS or something)?

At the hospital (AS got put there for drinking), Leo says bye to Diego who has been there with him all night for Leo (what a mensch, she's always been so awful to him). Diego leaves to go teach futbol.

Ahole shows up to try to drive Lupita and Emiliano, presumably to take the kid to school and then just "happen" to discover Mike w/ Mini.

Saul has clearly sold himself out, and he goes whole-hog into a product placement for cellphones so noxious I couldn't even make out what the pretense was. They even play that tinkly commercial music in the background. Uniphone?

Here's the worst thing I saw tonight... Ana Sofia tells her son that she'll only consider getting better and going to AA if he breaks up with the futbolista. SO bad. Yuk yuk yuk.

Anybody who stuck with the show till the end (it must have been midnight or later), please fill us in with what else happened. Thanks!!!!!!!

Small correction: Carmelita is not Lulita's mother; she is a friend and works with Lulita in the fonds and has the hots for Don Chuy. She does have a mothering type role for the Menchacas, though. She lives with Guendy.

Ahole did manage to drag Lulita over to his house to discover Mine and MA nekkid in bed together. Of course Lulita is very upset but they stood there a long tell talking and Mine got up and taunted her for awhile and I didn't ever hear her wonder why MA never woke up through any of this.

Tizoc made Carmelita and Chuy listen to his song on the radio and they clearly hate it.

Guendy flirted with Saul. I think there may be a spark there yet.

AS is horrible and manipulative as always, even from her near-death bed. It was funny how they were saying AA like aaaaaaa like a doctor was looking at their throats. Leo is torn. He knows his mother is being unfair and he doesn't want to break up with Diego but he's pretty desperate for his mother to deal with her problem.

Perla ran into Chuy taking food to Toma's place but she doesn't have enough curiosity to follow him and see what is going on, or possible even enough brain power to realize he was being weird and hiding something.

Don' t know why my phone kept making it say Lulita. Lupita, obvio.

I think Julia got it all. Thanks, Julia and Ezra!
AS is as manipulative as ever. She will never change.

I was so glad Tizoc's song wasn't well-received. Don Chuy didn't even know who was singing!

Oh yeah, Minerva burned MA's letter because she no longer had a use for it.
Poor MA got punched by Lupe to end the episode.

It's hard to watch this right now. Ahole and Minerva out on quite a show.
I know he's a kid and doesn't realize the full extent of his actions, but I really hate that Emiliano is so willing to do things that hurt his mom like this.

Thanks for the recap Erza and thanks for the additional info Julia.

What makes the possibility of Alejo's temporary win galling (if he marries Lupita) is how long he has gotten away with so much. Yes he has had comeuppances along the way and MA need to grow but to see Lupita with him (if it happens and most likely against her will) is icky. Possibly necessary but still icky.

Here's a quick recap in few words. Everything we said bad would happen, did. End of recap.

Thanks guys! Yes, cathyx, that's just it. I hope Emiliano gets some serious punishment.

When Minnie burned the letter, I don't think it burned all the way so the first part of Guadelupe was still visible.

FF'd through most because I know what was being said and I didn't want to hear it.
AS is STILL a disgusting person, this time for the way she is bribing Leo.

Alejo was telling the board members how happy he was that MA is free, and they reminded him that if the clause isn't fulfilled that the ownership of the company goes to the board members. Which sets up the avances:

In the avances, Alejo threatens Lupita to marry him or he will take Emiliano away.

Thanks, Ezra, Julie and everyone for filling in the episode. The delay caused by the soccer affected what I watched/taped, too.

cathyx, the avances were sickening. Lupita has been painted into a corner.

I also found AS repulsive trying to coerce Leonardo to leave Diego. Of course she prefaced it with telling Leonardo that he and Da Vinci had always been her favorites. Give me a break!

I'd love to see Lupita call Alejo's bluff and send bratty Emiliano off to live with his papá. I bet the kid would be back in no time. I am not counting on Lupita taking such a strong move. So sad.

Jarifa

I, too, think Lupita should say "okay, he's all yours!" to Ahole when he threatens to take Emiliano. She'd have that brat back in her sole custody within hours! A few days at the most. Unfortunately, as a loving mother she is a bit blind to her kid's lack of charms and she's not a devious enough thinker.

I laughed at Leo telling his mom that Da Vinci was safe with the Menchacas since there was hardly enough meat on him to make two or three tacos. (At least that's what I thought he said?)
The rest of the show was pure misery.

Another interesting thing, in LQLVMR the galán is going to get knocked unconscious and placed in the villainess's bed so his one true love will be fooled into thinking he has been messing around on her. Pretty popular novela device, no? So funny that this device is being utilized within a day of each novela at about the same time in the plot.

Jarifa

You'd think by now the characters would have caught on to this trick and would check to see if their beloved seemed drugged!

Especially Lupita! I mean, MA was RIGHT THERE. It isn't like they took photos and showed her after the fact so there would be no way to know for sure. They all stood there in the bedroom forever bickering. At no point could she have walked over and poked and shook MA and yelled "What's up with this, chump?!" and then noticed that he was not reacting?

Julia, ITA, I would have wanted to know from the chump's mouth himself exactly how he came to be in that bed and would not have left until he gave me an accounting. If Lupita insisted on an explanation from MA rather than just being bamboozled by a man and a woman she knows she cannot trust, she would have found out the truth.

Jarifa

And Mini and A-hole did not waste a single moment opportunity to twist the knife into Lupe where it hurts most. Mini kept quoting directly from his letter to Lupe as if he also had told or wrote Mini the same stuff, or any of his ex- girls... Lupe is so hurt at this time she is totally vulnerable to A-hole's pressure and Emiliano's nagging/begging. so sad... no wonder I was watching La Pola on my tablet most of the episode. could not get myself to watch at all...

Jarifa, i was thinking the same thing... two novelas, one after the other, using almost exactly the same plot device ... how lame can you get? come on televisa writers, come up with something different! even a falling accident to cause amnesia AND blindness... is less worn out than this.

I wish, just once, that the main characters can maintain their trust and relationship throughout the TN and just use the rest of the TN plots to keep it moving.

Amor Bravio was kind of like that...once they did get together, it was mostly other forces that kept Camila and Dan apart (mainly his wife who was not so dead as had been reported). They didn't spend a lot of time on misunderstandings and distrust.

True Julia, but they were still torn apart. To the point that Camelia didn't know if they would ever get back together.

Thanks for the recap Ezra and Julia.

The same plot device is used in QPTR and LQLVMR but it didn't happen at the same time exactly. This episode aired months ago in Mexico while the one in LQLVMR aired two weeks ago.

I did think it had to be odd to Lupita how they spent such a long time talking and MA wouldn't wake up.

Tizoc's Cellular song is awful but now that the show is over it is the first one that comes to mi mind when I think of it. So that means it would probably do well on the radio, it would be one of those stupid songs that everybody hates for getting stuck into your head. Not exactly one that would get him a fan following of "fresa" girls. His looks would be mocked too, girls today like their singers to look pretty, not undead.

Jarocha

Yes, Tizoc's horrible song is the sort of thing that would do well on the Inane Pop radio stations. Plus it is ready-made to be adopted by a cell phone company for use in advertisements! Did Unefon have something to do with the creation of this song? Given that Saul now rhapsodizes about cell phone service and we have seen some Unefon signs that just happen to be in the background of street scenes, it is suspicious.

Jarocha, the timing was evidently different in Mexico because from the avances, tonight is the night for the "unconscious" Alejandro in María's bed episode in LQLVMR. So, call it chance, call it bad luck for the viewing public in the USA, because two galanes are being snookered in the same way in two days of each other. : (

Jarifa

Thanks Ezra, and everyone else for filling in. Even if this hadn't started at 11pm, I would have still skipped it.

Get this folks, tonight, not only will Monse on Robo get bamboozled into thinking she caught her man in bed with another woman, but on DQTQTQ the galan will get bamboozled into thinking the heroine is in bed with his twin brother (the villain)! I'm sure in Mexico, none of these episodes happened around the same time. Uni's timing is priceless.

Cathyx and Julia- I still really appreciate that the main couple in Amor Bravio were never separated because of stupid misunderstandings. Once they were together, they were together for a long stretch (longer than I have ever seen in another tn), until his wife showed up (which is pretty understandable). It would have been unrealistic to expect that they would never be separated. That's a big part of all tns.

It's a total bummer that the footie schedule is messing with y'all easterners' telenovela viewing. The west coast hasn't been affected at all, other than the occasional five minute late starts that Uni has all the time for whatever random reasons anyway.

I was initially attracted to this telenovela because of the "comedy" of different social classes living together. It has since devolved into amorality that is painful to watch. How long will we have to wait until A-Hole gets his anvil? Obviously, the shows's writers want us to feel this way because we know at the end, everything will be OK (or will it?).

I actually FF>> through some of Ahole's scenes. I came for the comedy, too, and don't want to see to much of his same old, same old evil scheming. I mostly watch for Diego, Leo, Frida, Tizoc, Tomas, and Guendy. And Saul, when he's being overwhelmed by Guendy :).

Diego is the best. Ana Sofia is the best actress and her character is so deeply twisted. She's lucky her kids are so loving and faithful to her. AA will never work if she approaches it this way. Even with the hard knocks she's taken she hasn't learned much. The only good thing is that she's bonded with Don Chuy. I skipped the episode (the ridiculously late hour and the horrible bad happenings). I hate that they have allowed Emiliano to be come so corrupted so fast. Is this "the apple falls not far from the tree"? How are they going to rehabilitate him in time for a happy ending? And his dad's fall is going to destroy him. In the mean time, we are all going to have to endure so much misery. Did we still not find out what the mystery is in the back room of Tomas's house, and the mystery woman? Oh wait, could it be Mati?

I think that AS is only using the AA card to get Leo to break it off with Diego. She has no interest in quitting something she thinks isn't a problem for her.

As far as the secret at Tomas's mother's house, it's obvious to me that it's Mati because of the mention of running low on medications.

My guess is Emi will overhear something that he's not supposed to and that will make him reverse course.

It's hilarious that all three novelas ended up with a simmilar plot at the same time.

I love Alejo but that's just me loving Tacher. My mom and I would rather watch him over MA at this point of the story.

Jarocha

Thanks, Ezra! I wish I could have checked in sooner. As for the 15 minutes thing, I always notice that I end up with about 50% of my notes covering the first 15 minutes, so if you're only going to catch a quarter of the show, it might as well be the first quarter! (Unlike football or fútbol!)

I agree with those who found it downright odd that Lupe didn't try to pummel MA awake.

And here's another thing that at least two TNs are using at the same time - injury to the family jewels. Every time I look at Robo they are always talking about Sergio Sendel's nuts.
