Mi Corazon Es Tuyo #15, Who's turn is it to clean the bathroom?

I can’t believe it. My second recap and our second Diego siting. The first one was on my  first recap.
We open with Diego still in the jungle, still sexy sweaty, and still taking pictures of Natalia. Not sure what the purpose of the scene is, maybe so we don't forget he exists,  they flirt-fight with each other, the end.

Nando is at school looking at a party invitation on the web. Ximena comes up and kisses him and asks if he’s going to the party. Probably not. She asks why Fanny isn’t answering her phone. He tells her that she’s fought with their father and left home over Leon. She then asks him to do more homework for her, when he hesitates, she asks him to come with her to the party as a couple. He agrees, Xi kisses him, and Gus snaps some pictures of the kiss.

Isabela arrives at León’s room to talk with Fanny. Fanny says she has nothing to talk about with an ‘ofrecita’. Couldn’t find this slang, but I’m sure it means a woman who offers herself to a man freely.  Nice!

Manuela visits Ana for advice to get Bruno. Ana tells her to not pay attention to him, I think.

Isabela continues inside, and shows how completely out of touch she is with those under 20 by talking to Fanny as if she were 10. She tells her that her father misses her and wants her to come home. Fanny asks if Fernando sent her and she said no, it was her idea. Fanny tells her to leave and to butt out.

Fernando at the office recalls his fight with Fanny and her telling him that he has no time for his children but plenty of time to sleep with Isabela. Guilt ensues. He tries to call but she’s not answering. He then calls home, asks Bruno if he thinks he’s an ogre, Bruno says no, and to think of these fights as opportunities to become better people and grow closer, or something like that.

Isa enters and tells Fer that she just saw Fanny and she’s fine. He wants details but she said it was a waste of time, Fanny didn’t want to talk. But she tells him that the place where they are living is deplorable. That alarms him.

Some scary looking goth cat girl beats Fanny to the community bathroom and tells her that she has to wait her turn. And by the way she’s made up, she’s going to be in there a long while. Jardinera, you were partly correct about who she will share the bathroom with. But instead of beastie boys, they are beastie girls. Isabela may be right after all.

Fanny remembers back to the day that Mama tells them she’s going to die. (To me it’s an odd scene, I would expect her to be in bed feeling more sick than she looks, not like she’s going out for an evening at the opera). She tells them that when she’s gone, they should look at her portrait and she will help them. I need one of those.

While Manuela gives Bruno the cold shoulder, Ana finally gets ahold of Fanny and the agree to meet. The children come in and she ushers them off to change their clothes, and Alicia snags the address book that Ana left on the counter.

Nando continues to get bullied.

Fanny finally can get into the bathroom and it’s disgusting and dirty. She misses her old life like crazy. Meanwhile, León is meeting with Fernando. They talk, they come to an agreement, and they end up liking each other.

Alicia and the younger kids want to see Fanny too, Alicia gets the address and they plot to visit Fanny.

Ana visits Fanny and they hug and say kind words. The end. Now we switch to Ana getting another English lesson from Nando about possessive nouns. Cute scene where he’s trying to teach her that Fanny’s name isn’t Fannys’s name, like the ways she always says it incorrectly. She doesn’t get it.

Luz and Alicia come to Nando’s room at night to ask him to help them go to see Fanny. He says no, but Alicia calls a cab and they sneak out.

Ana tells Fer that she needs to go out, we all know what she’s going to do, and also says that they have a lot of things to clear up and discuss about last night, and that she saw Fanny. Well about last night, he says they should agree it was an error. Ana acts as if she had the wind knocked out of her, but quickly recovers and agrees that it was an error. Then she leaves and cries. Just then Jonny messages her to get to the club. Isa calls Fer just then too. She wants to see him but he holds her off and will see her tomorrow. She gives him her support and hangs up. She’s holding a paper that says ‘por medio de la presente, le informamos que el pago de su credito hipotecario tiene dos meses de retraso.’ She’s 2 months behind in her mortgage. Debts, debts, debts. We now know why she’s rushing her relationship with Fernando. She’s living above her means.

Fanny gets a surprise visit from her siblings. Luz keeps thinking that León is the Lion King and is surprised it’s not a zoo where he lives. The kids check out his room and his drawings. The kids break out in a rap song and they all dance???. Unsurprisingly, Luz and the twins are better at it than Sebastian. León comes in.

Fer drops in on Nando to talk about how he’s been avoiding the children to avoid his pain of losing their mother. Nando would love to talk, but he has a big project due tomorrow, (read:Ximena’s homework) and can’t talk.

At the cloob, Jonny surprises Ana with a baby sweater. He wants to have a baby with her. She lets him know that they should not be having children together. He pleads his case, but Ana interrupts and tells him that she doesn’t love him. Yay!

Avances: Isabela’s mama appears and advises her to not wait for Fernando to ask for her hand in marriage, but for Isa to ask for his.

I'm getting old. The rap was irritating.

Thanks for the recap. CYNDERELLA

Cathyx, thanks for such a great recap this a.m.

I agree the scene from the past with all of the family saying good bye to their mother with the little ones believing she was going on a long trip and being sent to pack her bags was very odd besides being sad.

What I do like about Fernando is that he seems to be quite sensitive and open to change to help his family. I like how he is asking for other people's advice in dealing with Fanny. Now, if only he could be smarter in his dealing with that gold digger Isabela.

Poor Ana looked like she had been punched in the stomach when Fernando told her that their activities of the previous night had been a "mistake." I was glad she told Johnny that she did not love him.

Jarifa

Cynderella, you don't have to be old to not like that rap. It was painful.

Jarifa, I wonder when she finally told the youngest ones. I hope they are not still thinking she's on her long trip and will eventually come home.

The youngest ones know she's dead; Luz was the one who found her.

Good work, Cynderella.

So Isabitch is two months behind on her mortgage? No surprise in terms of the plot, but she does look smarter than she is for allowing that to happen.

She was disgustingly condescending to Fanny when she went to see her. I realize this is a cultural thing, but I hate hearing "Papito" because it sounds diminuitive. Out of Isabitch's mouth it also sounded sarcastic.

What seals her identity is her wish that Fanny never comes back.

And if I had the name "Estefania" or its English equivalent "Stephanie" nobody would get away with calling me "Fanny", but that's just me.

I'm wondering why Gustavo took that picture. Maybe he plans to photoshop it and..... oy, vey.

Thank you, Cathyx, for the recap!

The communal bathroom makes me want to vomit!

Jarifa, the way SN handled the scene in which Fer calls their smooch a mistake impressed me. Sniff.

Yep, Isabruja ain't nothin' but a gold digger . . .

Thanx Cathyx. Love your recap and your insights. "Ofrecida" means something between "easy" and "slut."
Ana told Manuela "No le peles" meaning "Play hard-to-get."

Denise

UA, we don't know for sure that Luz found her mother dead, that was a dream she had. But she may have, we just can't be sure yet.

Maybe if the word fanny didn't also mean rear end it wouldn't sound so bad as a name.

Thanks very much CathyX! Once again I tuned in late and missed Diego, rats! Hopefully I'll get a good eyeful of him soon.
By the way Fanny deserves a medal for stepping into that bathroom in her bare feet! I believe I'd rather take my chances staying dirty than risk getting into that shower...
J in Oregon

Oh my God, that bathroom, really? They didn't have to make it that nasty. Poor doesn't necessarily mean dirty. And they could have let her wear flip flops, sheesh!

Not liking all that rhythmless dancing (by the Osorio kid) much. The little kids were okay, though.

excellent Cathyx.

"The kids break out in a rap song and they all dance???. Unsurprisingly, Luz and the twins are better at it than Sebastian. León comes in."

That gut punch to Ana hurt me through the TV.

Juan - selective hearing

Fanny - scrubbing bubbles with bleach

Leon - confidence, candor and respect

Isabela - maybe if I start brown bagging lunch

Ximena - big difference between a promise made and one kept

Nando - throw away that kick me t-shirt

Fernando - what's the big deal, it was just a drunken kiss, I slept with Isabela night before last and meant nothing

Manuela - it's the dress too

Diego - me Tarzan, you Jane, get in the kitchen and make me a smammich

Ana - "Some fools think of happiness
Blissfulness, togetherness
Some fools fool themselves I guess
They're not foolin' me.....Love Hurts"

I thought Fanny's acting outside the bathroom regarding the loss of her mother was also well played. She and Leon are very good .. are they fairly new on the tn scene ?? They have a future.

Thanks for the great recap. I caught a whopping 15 minutes of this last night--the awful bathroom and then later with the whole Johnny wanting a baby. Thankfully it looks like there was more to savor, so I'll have to jump in to watch this. Can't wait to see Leon with all those kids in his room...guess he'll learn, love Fanny, love her siblings.

Daisynjay

Thank you for the recap, I've been working very late hours so I can't watch the episodes, this keeps me so up to date, a million thanks!

About rap music- I'm 30 and on Thursday went to an Eminem show and it was a blast, I can't describe what it feels to be in a room with thousands of people signing along to that style of music.

Now I know it's not for everyone, but I do wonder if you've given rap a chance? There's some stuff out there that is just horrible, but then you'll find artists like Kendrick Lamar and Lupe Fiasco and if you listen to what they are saying you will soon realize that it's not all about bitches and hoes, Lupe especially raps about a lot of social issues.

I don't think it was the WORDS of the rap, it was the ... you know.

Eli, I'm not sure who you are talking to about giving rap a chance. Only the rap in this show was being put down. I don't have a problem with it mostly. It's often used within a pop song nowadays. But for this show, I think that the rap was meant to be amateurish and funny. Amateurish it definitely was, funny is debatable.

it is hard to find an official english translation to the slang 'ofrecida' other than a woman who throws herself at a guy who is not really interested in her.
the problem is that 'ofrecida' means 'offered' which is not anywhere near the context of the usage as slang.

Cathyx, love the recap. loved the kids visit to Fanny...
boy that goth beasty girl had more makeup on when she came out of the shower than when she got in... and that bathroom was a huge mess... but you would be surprised what just a bit of Mr Clean and bleach can do... you're so right Tofie!
Anon, DaisynJay and all, add me to those who think the actors playing Fanny and Leon have a great future... I love Leon's attitude of 'bring it on, i will be calm for the two of us'. and his smile when he came in the room full o his in laws was cute.
I too want Fernando and Ana to get their chemistry going ..

My cc's spelled it ofrecita, kind of like it's in the feminine diminutive form. And if it's slang, couldn't it be spelled that way?

Cathyx, more and more I am thinking that the captions must be done by speech recognition software as compared to a real person because there are so many spelling mistakes. This "ofrecita" is typical of the type of mistake that I have seen where the intricacies of Spanish pronunciation are misinterpreted and misspelled. If a live person is doing the captions then they need to pay more attention to their spelling because D and T are not that close on the keyboard.

Jarifa

Just a quick note that my article for tomorrow's episode may be a little late since I have a social obligation this afternoon. I also need to give priority to tomorrow's episode of LQLVMR because it's my last article for that.

Thanks in advance for your understanding.

Thank you, Cynderella, for taking this one on in style.

I guess I am a sucker for these kids. I was touched by scenes with their mother and had a giggle (okay, only a little one) at their shenanigans getting to Fanny's and doing the rap for her. (I usually hate rap, too!)

I am curious about what is up with Bruno. It would be good if Diego appeared to shake things up further.

Poor Nando. Fanny is on the wya to finding her way and her father will come around. I suspect that Nando is going to be harder to help for many reasons, including the ridiculous social scene these kids are part of.

Hola, I just wanted to stop by to say thanks to Cathyx for the recap. I'm finishing up Robo and can't seem to watch both TN's and read all the recaps and comment in real time. UA and any others recapping both, my hat is off to you in admiration and appreciation.

I like Silvia Navarro (MCET is only my 5th TN but so far she's my favorite protaganista thanks to Amor Bravio) and Jorge Salinas, and the lightness-- even the silliness that would normally drive me crazy-- is such a pleasure on the heels of the end of LQLVMR.

So for one more week I may be a lurker, but plan to join you guys in another week to follow and discuss this TN.

Thanks again!
Rebecca

UA, your "a little late" is the rest of ours "on time", so don't sweat it.

Rebecca, welcome and we look forward to your future comments.

Jarifa, I'm sure you're right about the speech recognition program. But I have seen peoples names spelled differently on different days. Maybe it's because of the way they are pronounced by different people.

Guess Ana already planned to break up with Juan after the hugs and kisses with Fernando and still went through with it after Fernando ripped out her heart and stomped on it. I wonder how she is going to handle this disappointment? She seems so naive in love.

How can one look smarter than they are? What does that mean exactly? If you wear nice dress clothes , are you "too smart" to fall behind on your bills? Perhaps it is Isa's long luxurious hair extensions that make her look smart? Could we be any more biased? Some of the most intelligent individuals I know dress casually and work mediocre office jobs. I notice a trend as of late where women only think highly of other women that dress the part and play the part. Anyone can go to college now days, including morons. I have also encountered a fair share of gorgeous idiots being offered job positions they have not earned. One day, I hope to see a world of true equality. We no longer need sexist, rude, degrading men to keep women oppressed. Women are doing a wonderful job of knocking other women down now days. Hopefully all women will be seen as equal and worthy some day, especially to those other women that feel so much above those that do not live life according to their standards and ideals.

Looking intelligent has nothing to do with hair colour, beauty, or clothes.

People with vacant looks in their eyes look stupid. Isabitch doesn't have that. She looks confident, direct, and very much in charge of herself. Until she's alone, when she slips and can look insecure, which has nothing to do with intelligence.

Nanette

Thanks for the list Nanette.
On the good points, in the milk mustache scene, I couldn't see Fer's milk mustache, so at first I was wondering why Ana kept licking her lip.
Ana and Fer tutearing each other didn't last past that night. Too bad.

As far as Gus taking a picture of Xi and Nando kissing, that can only be bad for Ximena but good for Nando.

Unless it gets photoshopped to Nando's detriment.

Cathyx, thank you for the excellent recap. "scary looking goth cat girl" and "instead of beastie boys, they are beastie girls" were among my favorites.

Laughed at the title - perfect. I agree though that the bathroom and shower were disgustingly filthy. Agree with Anon who said the actress playing Fanny is doing a good job.

Wish Nanco would get a clue - how long is he going to go along with this?

Seeing the children's mother so stylish and in seemingly good health revealing her illness didn't make much sense. But could she have thought it might be easier for the children to tell them when she wasn't physically decimated by the disease or its side effects?

We figured money was Isa's motivator but was a little surprised she is already in the weeds.

Nanette and tofie, thanks for your great lists. "Isabela - maybe if I start brown bagging lunch" and "Ana making the kids apologize to their father for the food fight (very nanny [mama?]-like)"were great.

Diana

I meant "Nando" - not "Nanco". Sorry.

Diana

Another rant to Televisa:

Por favor, can we dispense with invisible and mysterious diseases? Angelica of LQLVMR looked like a pilates instructor rather than a cancer patient. Blanca of La Esposa Virgen wasn't old enough for a serious heart condition, and now we have Fernando's departed wife looking like a society page photo?

Thanks for the fun recap Cathyx. I especially enjoyed "Isabela continues inside, and shows how completely out of touch she is with those under 20 by talking to Fanny as if she were 10." She was so condescending, it was irritating. Isabela doesn't look old, why can't she just talk to Fanny the same way she would an adult? Loved Fanny's responses to her, and Leon looked like he was having a fun time watching.

However, I concur with all of you who thought the bathroom was disgusting! Based on what Leon's room looks like, that communal bathroom took me by surprise. I hope Fanny doesn't end up with foot fungus! Yuck!!!

I also enjoyed the kids' visit to Fanny, including their little rap. Did not enjoy watching Ana's reaction to Fer's opinion that the kiss was an error, and hate watching Nando getting bullied. Hope he finds a way to stand up for himself soon!

Maricruz

Thanks for your recap Cathyx. And tofie and Nanette thanks for your lists!

The bullying plot is distressing and the fact that the teacher did nothing was revolting. I hope poor Nando doesn't just snap.

Unfortunately, I hear that most teachers in the US do nothing as well.

This is too true to life.

Tonight's entry may not have screenshots due to a technical issue I had earlier today. I request your understanding.

Update.

It's done on time, but no screenshots today. Hope I didn't make too many mistakes because LQLVMR was very draining.

Isa being condescending to Fanny: I thought that this was deliberate to provoke Fanny and create an even greater divide between her and her father. Isa later on mutters something like "Now for sure she (Fanny) will never return home"

The little rap number in Leon's apartment (dorm room). Personally I thought it was adorable. I don't know why it was a rap, it could have been anything else too. Seems like some people think that rap is the in thing nowadays and anything else is l-a-m-e.

I liked it because more than just a musical on-the-spot number it was a family cheer. Even if it did not make sense. The family cheer is usually a cheer that is taught to the kids by their parents. It symbolizes their unity and solidarity.

What does not make sense is that Mr. Fernando does not seem like the type of person to have actually taught the kids such a family cheer. The cheer looked somewhat superficial, not to mention contrived. Still, I enjoyed it because it reminded me of my cousins, a family of 8 (yup, they beat the Lascurain kids by one!) who had a family cheer that their father had taught them.

Dirty bathroom: To the commenter that mention that poor does not necessarily means dirty. It seems like this is more of a dorm type living arrangement. While not drowning in riches, Leon does not seem poor, just a typical college student without an abundance of cash (which describes about 90% of all students). But yeah, that bathroom was nasty.
