Pobres, Wednesday night

EmiliAhole gets to infuriate Chuy by obnoxiously talking about leaving with his dad.

Mike tries to get the book of evidence from Mini. Good luck. She swears on some grim portraits of her grandfathers that she doesn't know, then proceeds to sexily pin him up against the window blinds. He amusingly struggles to escape.

Ahole himself oozes his greasy self into the Chuy house to drag off lil EmiliAhole. The little twerp reveals the phone his dad has been using to communicate with him behind mom's back. Basically, Ahole has threatened Lupita, saying if she doesn't come live with him he'll tell the judge she was neglectful. Also she understandably doesn't want the kid to be alone with his awful dad. But I say that ship has sailed. The twerp already sucks, let him rot!

Nepo has a confrontation with some young dudes I don't recognize. They make fun of Diego and he flies off the handle and must be restrained.

Mike tries to talk Lupita out of leaving with her son. He doesn't think the punk is in danger of becoming an "Alejito," but meh.

In the devil's den, EmiliAhole is delighted, Ahole makes some jabs about how great it is to see Lupita without suffering the odor of poverty.

AS is on the phone with someone, busily abusing the authority that she wangled bi forging her son's signature. Leo wanders in and rightly assumes that she's up to no good skulking in the kitchen. He tells her she should celebrate the impending arrival of her first nietuqi, but she's not buying it.

Mike tries to get into Ahole's place, and we are treated to the two of them spouting insults at each other for a bit.

Guendy and Rita gang up on Nepo about Diego and how he should accept that his kid has different dreams than his dad.

OMG NEPO COMES TO GUENDY'S ON HORSEBACK FOR A TWILIGHT MARIACHI SERENADE! it barely looks like him! She cracks up and loves it. He even gets the horse to turn prancing little circles!

Alejo teaches his son to be a jerk to the servant lady! If you don't like the food, send it back!

Nepo has a nice moment with his son. He apologizes and says he just wants to support and protect him. Meh, ok!

Alejo is reminded that he only has a few more days to comply with the will. Diego calls him the best dad in the world! He is rewarded with some fatherly advice. Guendy comes for a big family hug, it's all sweet, and even the fruit-stand flunky squeezes into the hug!

Mike visits Vilma in jail. He makes a good point - who are you protecting, Vilma? Alejo left you to rot! Tell me where that booklet is. She gives him a super lame hint - It's where no one would ever suspect!

Once they're alone together, Alejo wastes no time reminding Lupita of their nights of passion and gets a little handsy! He grabs her and gets super gross. She literally kicks him to the curb. She grabs him by the hair and beats him up. EmiliAhole walks in, sees it, and gives her a high five! Hah! He's excellently injured, and she celebrates when Alejo limps around the corner.

Minerva's mom signs over her shares to... Saul? She insists that the money is hers and hers alone!

Despite the beating he suffered, he manages to drag Lupita and the kid to a dinner with the board of executives dudes to show them off! The board is impressed, but reminds them that all three need to be present for the official meeting (about the clause).

Frida goes on a date with Tizoc. He tells her he loves her a ton and they dance. Whelp, guess he's been rehabilitated.

Mike tells Lupita what he learned about the location of the booklet. Surprisingly, she finds the thing under Ahole's bed! The cliffhanger, duh, is that he walks in and finds her in his bedroom acting suspiciously!

See y'all later, it's been fun!

Lessons Lupita taught Emi:
It's ok to lie and hide things from your mother.
If you act like a brat long enough, you will get your way.
When she wants to talk to you about your bad behavior, just glare at her and walk away. It will be forgotten soon enough.

I really feel bad for parents of snotty children. The urge to slap them must be so great. Alejo certainly knows just when to interrupt when Lupe is trying to talk sense into Emi, and then he undermines anything she is trying to say to the child. Now Lupe realizes he was doing this all along by talking to Emi every day on that secret phone.

It seems to me that much of Emi's snotty attitude is anger at Lupe for withholding his father from him all these years. Since she has not yet given ANY reason for this, his anger continues. She refuses to say that 1) his father is not a good person and that's why she thought it was better for them not to meet; and 2) that she's sorry that she was not honest with him and Alejo from the start. Then she needs to lay down some laws, and really mean business. Start by taking that tv out of his room, maybe. Make him get up and go to Oyuki (sp?) to make that apology for being a brat, and ask him if he would want a customer to speak to her or any of the family that way as they served them in the fonda.

I did like Lupe giving Alejo a beatdown, pretending to Emi that she was just teaching/playing with Alejo, and the two of them laughing at him.

Thanks Ezra. I kept thinking what a downer this episode was, but I see now that I must have missed the end of the episode because I never saw Lupita find the book under Ahole's bed. Wow!

(Based on Vilma's clue I figured it must be someplace on his own property or in his car, or maybe in his desk at work, but I didn't think it would be under his bed. Wouldn't Oyuki or someone find it while cleaning up?)

I am very frustrated with the way things are going for Lupe now, especially because Lupe was so much more sensible at the beginning of the story. I can understand that Emiliano is her weakest/blindest spot, but I'm still stunned that she would let Ahole threaten her with Emi's custody a second time. It's not like her to give a known liar a second chance.

On the bright side, she found the book. However, this little caper would have been so much easier to take if she'd said to Chuy and MA before moving in with Ahole, "I don't want to do this, but at least I'll have a chance to snoop around for some real evidence." Then she would have been going into his house with an agenda instead of purely as a victim.

And yeah, of course I enjoyed her scuffle with Ahole in the hallway. By the time this TN is over, all of his "equipment" will probably be completely and permanently broken.

Ezra:

Thanks for this marvelous recap and all the ones you've done for this TN. It was great to have your male point of view : )

That MA finding the book under the bed was an avance, It wasn't in the epi. The last thing in this epi was Ahole catching Lupe on the phone with MA. Ahole wasn't happy.

I'm glad Lupe finally knows about the secret cell phone. Now she knows what happened to all the info Ahole was getting and how Emi, even though he didn't admit it, got rid of that letter that MA wrote to Lupe. I'm glad she sees how truly bad Ahole is, to even use her son. I had to laugh at that beatdown that Lupe gave Ahole, that will teach him!

Those lovable Zombies sure have young trophy wives, I must say.

AS was transferring money from the RP account to her own. She may have cleaned MA out, I'm not sure. She has been worried about the Grandfather Clause and Ahole getting his hands on all their money again. She has porca miseria'd us to death with that.

He also threatened Lupe once again, Ahole did, that she better make nice with the lovable Zombies, because she and Emi have to show up for the Grandfather clause thingy manana or she'll be stuck with Ahole foreva!

I too couldn't stand Emi this whole episode with his feeling entitled to send the food back. I'm glad Lupe took that remote out of Emi's hands. I'm glad too that Ahole isn't taking him out of his school! YAY! I think he said next school year. Emi wasn't happy at all.

Can't wait to see how MA gets into Ahole's house again. They showed him climbing that wall outside of Ahole's house.

And Nepo has finally accepted DA as eso and even said the word gay, without flinching or going into a tantrum! Guendy has been good for him and he even told Rita if she wanted to take DA with her to the Uniteds than it would be better. Amazing.

I do love how AP sings. That scene reminded me of QBA so much. He has such a great voice.

I wonder if Said is really buying those shares of Isela's or if MA is using Said as a straw man so to speak. That would be great!

Can't wait for tonight to see how all of this goes.

I thought the deal with school was that Ahole was going to get Emi a tutor so he wouldn't have to finish the year at his old school where everyone hates him. Then a new school next year. And Lupe said, "as long as he continues his studies."

So (if I got that right), Ahole IS taking Emi out of that school. At least for now. And his agreement with Lupita (which I don't expect him to honor) is that he'll be out of their lives FOREVER as soon as the zombies give him the presidency. After that, I expect Lupita plans to pick out a new school with MA.

(I certainly hope she doesn't want to send him back to the old school. The staff there really don't understand BOUNDARIES.)

Mads, it didn't occur to me that MA or anyone was using Said as a straw man. But now that you mention it, here's another possibility: Maybe AS arranged this. Maybe she's using MA's money to have Said buy the shares. I don't know if she's crafty enough for such a plan, but she did say a while back (when she got signatory authority on MA's account) that she was saving the family fortune. Maybe she actually had something specific in mind!

Eli...
He even gets the horse to turn prancing little circles!

i seriously doubt it was intentional... they were just not holding the horse in place... but for some reason the horse wanted to spin around while poor Arturo Peniche was trying to hold a straight face... you could tell he was a bit giggly about the horse's playfulness.

Yes, the deal is that as soon as the zombies realize theirs is a 'happy family' they will go ahead and make Alejo officially the clause winner and Alejo will get all the RP money (not MA's, just the RP money, the one AS is slip sliding away).. This is what Lupe told MA at Alejo's door that she did not want to happen and MA said who cares?? all he cares about is her and Emi's safety... it was nice that MA was able to contain himself and told Lupe he was 'holding his anger' (me aguanto or stte) for her...
they are counting on Alejo fulfilling his promise to let them go after he gets the Presidency and the power. Alejo has no intention of that.. he wants to make them pay and will try to find a way to keep Lupe to himself as long as possible. But Lupe and MA keep dreaming that Alejo will let her and Emi go and they will be able to be together.

I never saw the previews of Lupe finding the book... only MA climbing the wall so we must have got reduced preview scenes.

btw,
Minerva's mom signs over her shares to... Saul?
no, she was selling them to Saeed... Saul was there just to take the papers from her once she signed... but I wonder if Saeed has some deal with AS and she is the one buying the editorial stock.
hmmm... under Alejo's bed would fit Vilma's prediction 'somewhere not even Alejo would think of'.

Vivi I agree with your thoughts about Emilhole. Lately every time I see him I want to slap the s**t out of him and I've never hit a child in my life. While Ahole is responsible for most of his bad behavior so is Lupe. The only way this brat is going to straighten out is to see and overhear something that will tell him clearly what a rat bastard his wonderful Papa is.

Laughed when Emi thought that Ahole and Lupe were playing.

AS may have a plan and I do think under all her BS she is shrewd, much more that Isela who is going through the money at a world record pace.

Thanks, Ezra, for this entertaining recap and for all your work through this TN.

So some of the Emi-Ahole shenanigans are revealed to Lupita. Glad she questioned Emi about the missing letter, even if he wouldn't admit it.

Nepo being tag teamed by Guendy and Rita was pretty funny. At least he's trying to understand and to give support to DA.

I really enjoyed Nepo's horseback serenade to Guendy. She liked it, too. Obviously no zoning laws in the Nopalera that forbid a troop of horses coming down the street.

Does Ahole not know or remember that Lupita was raised by a wrestler? Her beatdown of Ahole satisfied my soul. Emi's not yet sophisticated enough to move beyond his training by the Son of Sumatra. He still thinks wrestling is all fun and games. He could probably get in a few licks on Ahole if he wanted to.

Between Isela selling shares and Ana Sofi pulling money out of the account, who knows what funds and/or shares will be where? Ahole may have a nasty surprise.

Actually, the horse "prancing" COULD have been intentional. A lot of singing charros train their horses to do just that, as part of their act (i.e., Pepe Aguilar, Alejandro and Vicente Fernandez, etc). That was a beautiful horse Nepo was riding.

Thanks Ezra, I can't believe there are only 4 and a half hours left of this show. I wish they wouldn't write these shows with so little time to enjoy the happy endings.

Ezra, thanks for the fun recap. It was very enjoyable.

ITA with all of you about Emiliano. Part of the problem was Lupita's for not lowering the boom on him when he first started getting mouthy. Guess she was feeling too beat down and guilty or something. At least she knows now how and how long the whole Alejo-Emiliano alliance has been going on.

Loved Lupita beating up on Alejo and Isela signing as a double viuda when she was selling her shares.

My favorite scene was when don Chuy and Carmelita were talking and saw that Frida wanted to talk to Tizoc but he was too busy to stop for her so she had to go tagging along after her. Don Chuy says he's a "gañán" (boor) and adds he doesn't know where he came from. Carmelita pauses and answers "As if you don't know." They are just so cute together.

Thanks for the recap--especially because it allowed me to find Nepo's mariachi scene. It's worth picking up this TN again (I haven't watched for many months) just to see Arturo Peniche playing a truly romantic role, and singing to boot!

And I have to say that I'm amazed at what a believable stinker Emiliano has become. I've read it in the recaps, but I couldn't picture it. It's hard to believe he'll ever be redeemed, since he's the perfect picture of a rotten kid.

Thanks, Ezra - your review was really funny. Since this was another stinkin' episode, the best part of it for me was finding the little list under Alejo's bed. Of course I now know that won't happen until tomorrow - so I'm really grateful to you for giving me hope in these dark times.

Watching Lupe kick Ahole in the balls was FUNNY .
