EN OTRA PIEL – LUNES – Part 1

Another depressing night in Los Angeles. We get to once again see poor Emiliana’s panic at not being able to feel her legs nor walk.

We get some more repetitive scenes of the charming, newly engaged Gerardo and Elena. He’s trying to work her, saying she’s jealous for nothing. She fires back that he’s lying to protect Mondriana and says she saw them together kissing outside the hospital and that Gerardo was begging that cheap prostitute like a dog. She goes on to say she always thought men went looking for what they didn’t get in their beds but she gave him everything. There was no limit to her passion. Gerardo is very calm through her rant, reminding her that someone might hear her. Beside herself with jealousy, she asks what he could possibly have sought in that creature that she didn’t give him.

The worst doctor in Los Angeles can’t figure out what’s going on with Emiliana, even after Mondriana told him what’s wrong. When he sees she can’t walk, he orders an MRI. Cami rightfully gets up in his face saying she’ll take her sister to another hospital. [Wanna bet this won’t happen, Viewerville?] Jorge and Selma are waiting in the hallway. Cami tells them that Emi can’t walk. Jorge also thinks they should take Emiliana somewhere more secure!

Ricardo is telling Eileen what Camila told him about the secret room and Mondriana. As usual, Eileen is the soul of sweet reason, saying that Mondriana would not have known about a room even the boys who grew up there didn’t know about. The Little Prince wonders if Eileen believes in Mondriana so much or is it only because Camila is suspicious of her. Eileen snorts. Cami is pretty, but not that “with it”. She reminds him of how Cami doubted him about the check and also believed Elena about Gabriel. Eileen says that Camila lets herself be influenced too much by what people say.

Back to Gerardo and Elena. I’m tempted to fast forward, but it’s sort of like watching a train wreck. Elena: “How could you be so stupid as to risk everything for a prostitute?” Gerardo: “Because I never thought you’d find out, okay?” He goes on to say it was just a roll in the hay. Stuff like this happens. Let it go. She brings up the begging again, and he tries to convince her that he was imploring Mondriana that they not see each other any more because of the pregnancy. [Not bad, Gerardo! Too bad for you Elena has a total sixth sense about what you feel for Mondri.] She jumps on that: “Then it wasn’t just one time!” He tells her men can have sex without being in love. Yada, yada. He throws Mondriana under the bus saying that they were arguing because she was threatening him. He says Mondriana didn’t want money but wanted him to convince Elena to get Cami to let her come back to the house so she could be with Emiliana. Elena says it’s obvious that he’s trying to protect that woman. He can’t hide it. She sneers at him that Mondriana despises him. She says Adriana called him a coward and not much of a person.

EN OTRA PIEL – LUNES – Part 2

We get a slight ray of sunshine when Mondriana comes to tell Maite and Valeria the great news about Tomás saying they’re surely eligible for asylum. We see Maria Elisa Camargo’s gorgeous smile, something I miss. Maite and Valerie cry with joy.

Lorena has apparently left the hospital and is drinking in a bar. She flashbacks to what Jorge said to her about being manipulated by Elena and that it matters more to her pleasing her daughter than Emi’s welfare. She babbles something to the bartender about her daughter becoming a better person and orders another drink.

Sadly, it’s back to Gerardo and Elena. She finishes up with the same old, same old: she’ll never give him up. She tells him [again!] that the reason she killed Mónica was because she knew her aunt was winning him over, that he was falling in love with her. He asks if she plans to kill Adriana. She gives that psycho smile and says she’s in the process of torturing her. Adriana has a weakness for Emiliana. “If you could have seen how she begged for her!” Elena says she’s going to suffer watching my cousin go, little by little. “I found out it’s not necessary to kill. I didn’t even need to kill Mónica Serrano with my own hands. The drops do it all by themselves.”

Gerardo: “What did you give Emiliana? She’s 11 years old. You’re the one who deserves to die for being cruel and unfeeling.” Elena: “Who’s going to kill me? You? You were barely able to finish off that lawyer. Oh, you became a hero killing Carlos Ricalde. I dare you to deny to risked your life for a prostitute!” Gerardo: “But now I’ve been in training for murder.” He grabs her by the throat and says he doesn’t lack for desire to do it. She says he might be capable of killing her, but not his child. He stalks out.

Maite, practically jumping with joy, talks about being legal in the country: real work, a driver’s license, and even a gringo dog who barks at them in English!

Jennifer tells Marta about the conversation she overheard between Elena and Gerardo. Susana comes in and says they’re saying bad things about Elena because they’re jealous of how classy she is! As a complete non sequitur she says that elegant people disagree more because they have more to worry about! [ Susana, please let there be some anvils to fall on your head!] After she leaves Jen tells Marta that she heard Elena tell Gerardo that she didn’t do anything to Emiliana, but in a teasing sort of way as if she meant the opposite.

Diego tells Mondriana about El Pachuco’s fingerprints being on the chocolate box. Mondri correctly deduces that Elena is paying him. Diego puts out a theory that it could just be EP getting even for the death of Ricalde. He also tells her that Eddie is going to try to arrange some guards for Emiliana.

Camila beats herself up for she and Emiliana not having gone to live with Mondriana when she was told to leave. She tells Selma that she always ends up remorseful. If she’d not been so stubborn about denying her mother a chance a reconciliation, she wouldn’t feel so bad about having lost her. And now she thinks she’s going to regret how she’s been with Emi.

EN OTRA PIEL – LUNES – Part 3

Jorge brings up the possibility of poison to Dr. Rojas, telling him that there are poisons very hard to detect. It doesn’t look like it does much good.

Valeria tells Maite that she overheard Diego tell Don Rodrigo at La Malquerida all about the dije.

Back to Lorena at the bar. She’s blasted now. As usual, only when she’s drunk does she face reality. She flashbacks to a scene she had with her daughter after Lorena had framed poor Vicki for stealing the bracelet. At that time she called Elena a monster. Now Lorena says out loud: “Mónica, forgive me. Emiliana, forgive me. Camila, forgive me. I’m garbage!”

Maite and Valeria discuss the dije. Valeria reminds Maite of all the odd things that Mondriana said when they first met. Both of them think Diego is terrific and why wouldn’t Mondriana love him.

Wow! They’re going with spinal or nerve damage to Emiliana. Rojas says it could be an unknown virus or possibly a psychosomatic reaction to stress. [Two people have now told you she was poisoned, idiot.]

Valeria sneaks into Diego’s room, searches, and finds the dije.

At the hospital Camila says she is starting to distrust Rojas. Her mother died on his watch, and now he can’t diagnose Emiliana. Jorge suggests bringing specialists to this hospital rather than moving Emi. He calls someone to get the ball rolling.

After Selma didn’t answer her cell because she was standing in front of Camila, Jorge finally calls Mondriana and tells her the bad news that Emiliana cannot walk. We see a total face of horror on Mondriana.

OK, this thing is becoming a very long, sad Russian novel where no one gets what they want.

En Otra Piel

Thanks, Novelera, for an excellent recap of an exceedingly mediocre episode. Indeed, you probably could have gotten away with a recap that simply said Same old same old.

Yes, there was a slight ray of sunshine when Mondri tells Maite and Vale that they may be good candidates for asylum in the US. But even that didn't cheer me up. It seems all too likely that their happiness will be quashed when one or the other of them is taken prisoner (again) by the Bad Guys. If this were the TN's last week, I'd be a little more hopeful, but this dog seems to go on and on and on, even using repetitive padding episodes like this one to drag things out even more. Arrgh.

I was a little surprised that the bartender kept refilling Lorena's glass. Perhaps she'll now leave and get run over by a bus? Will she have time to make a deathbed acknowledgement of her Evil Spawn's doings before she dies? One can hope.

CIELOS - Lunes Part 1

One would think that since the police killed Bert, they'd hold the body, or keep track of it. But no, the body is now at the Casillas house, no police are anywhere near, and AC gets to view it. He tells Bert that it's his (AC's) fault Bert got killed, but don't worry, son, I'll get revenge!

Santiago arrives with Ximena (apparently the jail let her out for this), and again, there are guards, but they stay outside, and no one sees AC. AC wants to kill Santiago, but Chacorta says now is not the place or time. Ximena comes in, AC goes to apologize, and she slaps him. This is supposed to be a big shock, but we've seen several other people slap AC, such as his mother, and we could see this slap coming from a mile away.

Chema wants to know what's going on, calls Ernie, who says yep, Bert is dead, they're all here. Chema asks about Lord of the Skies. No, boss, says Ernie, everybody says he's dead (so at this point Ernie isn't totally on board with Chema). Ernie does tell Ruti he's got a new boss, and they should both move to be with him. Ruti is not ready to think about this yet.

Charcorta confronts Ernie, says you were supposed to be in Michoacan, but you were sighted in Juarez, and where is Cente? (the guy Ernie killed) Ernie says I don't anything about Cente. I was just going to my birthplace, I got an inheritance of a property from my uncle. He produces a deed from his back pocket (this had been provided to him by Chema). Chacorta can't read too well, but Manotas confirms, so Ernie's off the hook.

Tijeras says he wants to kill Lai, that's the only thing that could make him rest easy.

Garnica overhears Inaki say to Lai, what about our money being sent to (another city)? Lai covers, says they're thinking of opening another Villa Catalina, they could have several branches. Garnica says I know your brother was a druglord, don't try to fool me.

AC starts his revenge plans with Max. Elsa calls him, tells him to watch out, but while he's on the phone, 3 of AC's thugs attack him, put a plastic bag over his head, and take him away. Later, a box is delivered to Ignacio, Leo, etc. It's Max's head! Elsa thought Chema was behind this, but he assures her he knows nothing about it. Ignacio is shaken to the core, even though he didn't like his Dad much.

CIELOS part 2

Next up in the revenge (this actually happened earlier), AC sends Manotas and crew to kidnap, Leo. Outside of their headquarters, a big firefight takes place. Leo calls Garnica for reinforcements. He pauses from his drink, says no prob. He makes a quick call to his man, check out some firefight, then it's back to booze and babes. Of course the reinforcements are too late.

Outmanned, Leo escapes into a building. But Manotas is right behind, and points a gun at her, saying you're coming with me. She goes no way, kill me now. He shoots her in the leg, and gets ready to drag her away, when Ramos shoots Manotas, who falls to the ground. Ramos helps Leo out, but then HE gets shot, and he's DEAD. I don't think Manotas is dead, the cops have him. So when the other thugs report back to Chacorta, they didn't get Leo, and Manotas was grabbed. Chacorta is not happy. Even the arrival of Irma doesn't help.

Leo's leg doesn't seem to be a problem, but of course she's super upset about Ramos, and then Max's head appears. She thinks it's strange they didn't want to kill her. Vicky says you have to stop guarding me, your own safety comes first. Leo and Ignacio don't agree.

Back at the ranch, Victor tells Ruti he wants to take her and her sister far away. Of course Ernie also wants to take her far away. Ximena tells AC she wants to take the girls far away. AC says I'm never giving them up. AC wants revenge, but Xime doesn't want any more killing. AC says you could help me get close to Leo, I'll pretend to give myself up. Then I'll kill her. Xime says no way.

But then AC says, if you do it, and I get to kill Leo, I'll give you full custody of the kids. Now THAT's something Xime will have to think about !!!!

En Otra Piel

thanks so much novelera!

same ol', is right,

they have all of the facts but no one seems to be able to put it all together, and Monica just keeps getting wound up.

like Eddie says he must have injected the poison into the candy because there was no sign of it on the box, but they did get Pachuco's fingerprints,

Diego tells Monica there was no poison but they have Pachuco's fingerprints, maybe he wants to get at Geraldo for killing Carlos, so Diego isn't getting the Elena part.

and Monica tells Jorge, wait, she hasn't told him anything because she is concerned about Emi.

and so Valeria has taken the 'dije' and brings Monica a nice cup of tea, ut oh.

Cielos

Thanks Hombre. Well, we knew Max was a goner, but too bad they didn't send his head to Elsa. I'm surprised that Ernie didn't give up AC; he's usually not too smart.
I wonder if Ximena will change her mind about helping AC with his plan.

Wow...what will Chacorta do without Manotas

Cielos

Many thanks, Hombre, for making it possible for me to keep up with this telenovela without watching it. I'm glad it's in últimos capítulos.

I'm not sure whether I'll give Señora Acera a try. I had no problem with the 10 pm time slot when I watched La Reina del Sur, but more recently I find I can barely stay awake. I'm not sure whether that's because I'm getting older or the novelas aren't nearly as compelling as LRDS. I suspect it's a combination of both.

Cielos

thanks so much Hombre!
lots of little things I missed.

way too much drama here for a group of people that deal in death.

will mom miss the funeral?

and then there is Chacorta stopping Aurelio from killing.

I thought Ernie would give up Chemo, but I guess he still isn't happy with Chacorta for killing the Padre, so far he is playing both sides, and this never seems to work, but if he brings back Ruti, whew, maybe he will see the real Chemo.

it's interesting that we are getting a feel of the earlier Ximena/Aurelio through the lives of Ruti/Ernie.

I'm not really getting Garnica's involvement with the club, I guess he moved right in.

Cielos

I'm curious,
What did they put inside Heriberto's nose and why?

Is that symbolic of something? I've never seen that before. Thanks.

EN OTRA PIEL:
Thanks so much for the recap, Novelera. Repetitive is right. I don't know how many times we've heard this argument between Elena and Gerardo. And nobody, apparently, can figure any of this out. Oh well. It's GOT to end soon.

Cielos
Gracias Hombre

I'm more & more impressed by Rafael's acting. He is playing the grieved & guilty father perfectly.

Wonder if they used Vicente's head from Santa Diabla, same general looks of both men.

Did anyone notice something silvery in Berto's nostrels?

Great way to redeem yourself in Ximena's eyes AC, kill Santiago.

It is odd with Ernie, he's not giving AC away, I guess because of Rutila. He hates Chacorta. Wonder who is going to kill him?

Alma told the doc that something is going on at the house that they are not telling her. The doc shouldn't be so hasty for her to leave. Being a narco doc is hazardous to your health.

EN OTRA PIEL

Juanita, I really liked your idea of Lorena getting hit by a bus staggering out of the bar. The woman is insufferable.

And, yes, this is not going to end this week. Our prior experience with últimos capítulos meaning two weeks appears to not apply to this one. Perhaps the entire cast of Los Miserables has been down with the stomach flu and they need more time!

Cielos,
thanks hombre
no manonatas no!
without him chacorta lost his bodyguard/killer/messenger/reader/friend

EN OTRA PIEL – MARTES

After hearing from Jorge about Emiliana not being able to walk, Mondriana totally freaks out. She grabs up the purse that Valeria had put the dije in and rushes off to the hospital. When she arrives, she faints and Adriana returns. Diego is overjoyed. Selma is also in the waiting room and is very sad to lose her dear friend.

No change in Emi’s condition. She begs Camila to see Mónica.

So how did El Pachuco know out of all the gin joints in all the world which one Lorena walked into? Anyway, he calls Elena and the two of them drag her out of there.

Eddie comes to see Gerardo at Ernesto’s apartment, having followed him there. He first tells him that Carlos Ricalde’s hitman is after his family. He then asks why Carlos Ricalde was even working at Larrea Wineries. Gerardo gets defensive and won’t talk about it.

Hmm. Maria Elisa’s portrayal of Adriana is a bit over the top this time. At the very beginning, she was very good as the barrio girl. This time she’s sort of playing her ditzy.

Susana, who’s aware of what happened with Lorena, LIKES Pachuco. Yuck! Maybe he’ll sell her to a Chinaman. At this point I wouldn’t mind.

Disgusted with her mother, Elena has a flashback. I suspected this for a long time. The child Elena is the one who deliberately started the fire she’s blamed on her mother all these years – probably so she could go live at the mansion.

Anselmo tries again with Maite, jealous after seeing her speak to another guy. Later Martín tells Maite that Anselmo’s mother died quite a while ago.

Diego spends the night watching over Adriana. Valeria makes her chilaquiles in the morning. Adriana finds the dije in the big purse and puts it on. Valeria comes in and is very surprised at the new person she meets.

Later Diego tells Adriana that they are not in México, but rather in Los Angeles.

En Otra Piel:
Thanks for the recapette, Novelera, although you really got all that happened. We creep onward with the plot.

I know what you mean about Adriana. It was like all the energy Adriana hadn't been able to express while Monica had posession of her body came out in one big rush. She is going to leave Maite, the usual fast, slangy talker, in the dust.

En Otra Piel

thanks so much novelera!
this and Cielos are really dragging to the finish line,
but maybe the tortoise will still beat the rabbit.

so Diego didn't notice that Adriana was wearing the 'dije',
and being a good guy he is still concerned about Monica's girls.
(so where is that video Monica made)

it looked like Elena was concerned that her mom might spill the beans,
while she was drunk.

I guess Pachuco is still laying low,
with his new attire complete with baseball cap.

so Valeria helped Diego find Adriana,
but isn't she losing her friend Monica?

CIELOS - Martes

Ximena considers AC's offer to trap Ballesteros (Leo), he kills her, then he gives Xime custody of Rutila and Luzma. No, she won't do it. She won't be a party to more killing. Fine, says AC, then you don't get custody of the girls. Well, can you get a place for them in Guadalajara, close to the jail, so they can visit me? No, says our wonderful (not) AC.

In another weird move, Leo agrees with Vicky to protect herself, and goes back to Colombia. Ignacio is supposed to follow, but he doesn't. He organizes Ana and Elena and they form a death squad. First they find Manotas in the hospital and smother him. Then they track down various other guys in the druglords' organizations, and start killing them in cold blood on the street. Vicky can't explain this, and vows to stop it. AC and Chacorta also think something strange is going on. For example, Manotas was supposedly stable. How could he just die?

AC tells Helga she should start working with him now. She agrees, she'll stay in Mexico. She visits Lai and Inaki (her former boyfriend), tells them she's in the business now, that Bert told her "everything", in fact, she was really running the operation. (Oh, sure. Every time we saw her she was lying at the pool with a blank stare, but really she was the brains?).

Vicky wins the election! She's now the governor. Elsa is furious, tries to reach Chema, but he won't answer. He tells Toro and Tijeras he really wasted a lot of money on that dame. Elsa tells Lucila if she reaches Chema, she's gonna ask him to kill Vicky.

Garnica tells Lai she's gonna have to put out more if she wants his continued help. She looks as if she's gonna gag.

Alba comes home from the hospital, just in time for Rutila's 18th birthday party! A good time is had by all, except that Ximena is in jail, and the kids miss her, and everyone has to act as if Bert is still alive. AC says he went back to Spain. Alba says I don't care what time it is there, call him! AC calls Helga, who pretends to be in Spain, and says she'll have Bert call as soon as he gets home. After she hangs up, she weeps.

Ernie wants to be in the birthday party, Ruti says he's my friend, but AC says either he leaves or there's no party. Ernie goes outside, this was the last straw. He'll never be accepted here. He calls Chema, guess who's right in front of me? You were right, he finally popped up, it's the Lord of the Skies! After all these years, Chema is skeptical, demands proof. So Ernie goes and buys a little camera!

He also tells Ruti they need to talk (he wants to take her with him to join Chema), and she agrees to meet at their secret place to talk. We know she doesn't want to abandon Luzma, but strangely, she had told Luzma to be strong with "Bert and Mom gone, or if I were gone." Hmmm.

Santiago gives Xime some good news. There's a hearing in your case tomorrow. With Max dead, there's a 90% chance you'll be freed!

Okaaaaaaay. I'm not saying this show is now total telenovela cliches (we did have a coma), but in response to a poster who last week said they're not following the real life exploits of the guy AC is based on anymore, you can say THAT again!

Cielos

thanks Hombre,
a wonderful recap as always!

let's see,
the Gober with her secret lover (Aurelio) that she tells all,
Leo back in Colombia (she could bust their labs if she gets bored),
Ignacio and his death squad,
Beto's tragic (to the family) death, now they all pretend he is alive,
(there is going to be some major Alba slaps coming up)
and Ernie with his new camera and little moto,
dreaming of the big time.

I'm thinking Ruti will go to the hearing and miss going with Ernie,
who has been called back to base by Chema.

En Otra Piel

Thanks, Novelera, for your mercifully brief but complete recap. I'm glad you said what you did about the portrayal of Adriana. I found it exceedingly off-putting. I used to get tired of Monica's rather limited range, but ditzy Adriana made me long for Monica's return. I also enjoyed your suggestion that Pachuco sell Susana to a Chinaman.

Jean, I loved your comment about motor-mouth Adriana leaving Maite in the dust.

Cielos

Many thanks, Hombre, as always.

En Otra Piel

Thanks, Novelera. I also agree with you and the others about this new, over the top Andriana. Definitely hard to take when we're ready for a resolution. With the way things are going, I'm guessing that it'll be a while before Diego tells her EVERYTHING. It appears he only skated over the truth which means she'll discover some things the hard way (Elena, Pachuco or Eddie). I wanted Andriana to appear before the finale but we definitely need Monica to return to resolve ALL of the pending issues. And of course this happens when Cami is willing to give in to Emi's demands to see Monica.

Oh Susana...Pachuco, really? She's playing right into Elena's hands.

And Lorena, I was hoping Rodrigo would see rescue her and then overhear her mumblings, but it looks like Elena will either kill her or make it look like an "accident".

EN OTRA PIEL

I think the writers are pretty loosey-goosey with their paranormal stuff in this one.

We saw in a couple of episodes that Adriana was trying to take her body back. She was even in Mondriana's guest house appearing in the mirror and, I thought, begging Mónica for her body back.

So she gets control of the body and has no memory of this? The last thing she remembers is the dinner with Diego and sharing the champagne Mónica gave her. Why doesn't she remember the fight with Carlos Ricalde, nor getting away after his thugs thought she was dead and running away?

Guess she has a similar version of telenovela amnesia as that of Reina in Reina de Corazones.

En Otra Piel

First of all, thanks for the excellent recaps, I have missed a few episodes and have a question for those of you who watch it daily.

Why did Valeria look for the dije and why did she put it in Monica's bag. This confuses me, since she has only known Monica and should have a certain loyalty to her, afterall it was Monica who has done so much for her.

I know she was love with Diego, but she does not know or ever had a relationship with Adriana.

Thank you so much.

fan of Caray Caray

En Otra Piel,

Novelera, I thought the exact same thing about Andriana's memory. I clearly remember her taking control and saying "es mi cuerpo", as if to say "get outta here". And I'm not sure but wasn't Selma present at that time?

Fan of Caray Caray, you brought up a very interesting point. I think Valeria finally settled into her friendship with Diego (thanks to Eddie) and she wanted to do something special for him. Not sure if she truly understood that this isn't a simple case of memory loss but of 2 different souls. However, I agree that without Monica to introduce her and Maite to Tomas, the hope of asylum will be delayed. I'm sure at some point Someone will try to bring Mondriana back.

Spanish Student has it right. Valeria is extremely fond of Diego since he is the one who brought her out of her almost catatonic state of fear. She's moved on now, but both she and Maite totally cherish him.

I can't remember the conversation that caused her to look for the dije exactly, whether it was with Maite or with Diego himself. But she was SO moved by his enduring love for Adriana, despite all the things that have happened. Plus she overheard Diego talking with Rodrigo at the Malquerida bar about the power of the dije to keep a soul in one's body. So she thought she'd be doing both of them a big favor by bringing Adriana back.

She isn't in the complete picture about her friend "Mónica" being the mother of Camila and Emiliana, so I guess from her point of view, bringing Adriana back would not cause harm, only good.

Thanks, Hombre...great recap!

What is with Ignacio and his death squad? Didn't he ever hear two wrongs don't make a right.

EN OTRA PIEL, Wed, pt. 1

Adriana is a Little upset upon finding out that she’s in LA. Diego will tell her what happened, but bit by bit, and not now. He takes her out for a walk.

Eileen brings Selma some tea and asks what’s up. Selma says there is something with Mondriana, but she can’t tell her what, and all they can do is wait. Nothing else can be done. All Eileen can do for Selma is to give her a hug.

Lorena is all passed out on the bed when Susanna cheerfully (in her snippy way) brings her some breakfast. She tells Lorena that Elena had to go get her last night and bring her home. Lorena remembers nothing. Then Sue gives Lorena her orders from Elena: go to the hospital for Emi and no drinking.

Pachuco counts out his money from Elena, and agrees to whatever the next part of her plan is. He almost doesn’t since he almost got caught last time, but the money wins.

Camila is back home venting her stress to Marta about everything that’s been happening. Marta tells her she just has to keep going, and also rest. She’ll rest first, then go back to the hospital.

Jorge is there now, sitting with Emi and telling her about Australia. He wants to take the girls there. Selma calls him to let him know what’s up with the soul switch. Emi hears Selma’s name and wants to talk to her. She asks to talk to Mondriana, but Selma makes excuses as to why she’s not there.

The reunited lovebirds are out walking around some park. She’s not too concerned about waking up in another country. They walk around for a couple scenes, have lots of pda, talk too fast for me to catch, and she asks a coulpe questions that he won’t answer. She does get tired (it’s rough coming back from purgatory), and he gets a little worried. He’s just so happy and wants to enjoy all this time with her. She feels like she did when he first took her to the ocean, like they’re on their honeymoon. Jeez. Then she asks how much this trip cost anyway? He still won’t reveal anything. She’s tired and wants to rest and how long have they been there anyway, hours? Days?

Camila gets up from her rest, and mentions AGAIN about how Mondri might have been working with Carlos, blah blah blah. Ric tries sticking up for Mon.

Marta, Gabe and Jen are with Emi now (Pachuco is going to have a heck of a time kelling her this time). They’re trying to cheer her up. Don’t think it’s working.

Jorge gets to Selma’s to get the scoop. He brings up the dije, but this time Selma watched her friend die again, in front of her own eyes. Selma is worried about Emi and Cami not talking to their mother, but Jorge brings up the fact that you can never be prepared for death. Selma thinks she’s gone forever this time. Jorge thinks they should be glad they got a little extra time with her. He’s thankful to Selma for helping him out, and sparks fly. Little, tearful sparks, but still sparks. Yeah! (We take what we can get at this point).

EN OTRA PIEL, Wed. pt2

Gabe is still talking ot Emi about the story they’re going to write, starring Emiliana. Emi asks if he has Diego’s phone number and gets Gabe to call for her.

Lorena is cleaned up, having breakfast, and rehashing stuff. First, her conversation with Jorge about Emi’s future, and then of Elena crying and carrying on because her mother wants to turn her in to the cops just for killing her aunt. Lorena looks sad, as she should.

Back from the park, Adriana is super tired, and Diego is worried, which she teases him about. He gets a call from Gabe, calling for Emi. She asks if he can get Monica to go see her in the hospital. She really really wants to see her. He’ll pass on the message, even though he can’t. Adriana asks about the call, and asks if Emi is someone she knows. Diego hesitantly says no. They chat more, and she passes out asleep while he’s talking. He takes her shoes off and leaves her to rest. He runs in to Valeria in the living room, who mentions that Adriana is bien rara. He knows, but the old Adriana is back. He has to go out, but she’ll keep an eye out for Adri.

Selma and Jorge wonder what they’re going to tell Emi. They girl isn’t dumb and she’ll pick up on a lie.

Next day. Vale goes up to Adriana’s room to tell her someone is there to see her. Camila and Ric! Cami begs her to go visit Emiliana. Adriana is confused and thinks she’s mistaken about who she’s talking to. Cami talks to her like she’s still Monica, and tells her how much Emi wants to see her, etc. Adriana brings up her own brother back in Mexico, and Ric is like, what? You have a brother? Cami is getting annoyed, more than usual. She tells Adri that Emi is dying to see her and asks/demands that she go with her to the hospital. But Adri says she doesn’t know her sister. Now Cami is confused.

Gerardo gets to work to find Elena at his desk. He tells her they have to be careful because the cop is questioning. She says they’re safe, and not to worry since they are the only ones who know the truth. “What about Lorena”, he asks. Elena has a look, so Lorena probably isn’t long for this world.

Cami can not believe that Monica would play these games with them. She’s gets angry and yells at Monica about all this, and that she can handle it, but Emi can’t! She offers to pay Mondri to go see Emi. Andriana is getting tired and lays down on the bed. She can’t understand what’s going on.

Cami leaves, and grips about this as they get down to the living room. Ric realizes something is very wrong because she was like a different person. Yeah, says Cami, the REAl Monica. Ugh. Maite, voice of reason who should maybe think about being a therapist, tells them that Mondri (or whatever you want to call her) isn’t well, and that this isn’t the first time that she’s had these spells of seeming like a different person. Cami is worried about Emi. She’d rather Emi forget all about Mondri than have Mondri tell Emi she doesn’t remember the kid. Ric asks Maite to keep in touch, and they leave.

Back at the office, Elena snips at Gerardo, but thinks they should get married as soona s possible. Then they won’t be able to testify against each other. And what if I decline (negarse)?, asks Ger. Well, I’ve put Emi’s life in your hands, Elena answers. And we’d like to think that Gerardo will finally stand up to Elena, and at least point out that if she does anything to Emi, he can get even. But this probably won’t happen. Cobarde.

En Otra Piel

thanks so much Kelly,
wonderful recap!

I'm really fighting the idea that Monica doesn't return and Adriana makes the rounds totally confusing everyone, but hey, the old Adriana was quite a feisty young lady and did a good job slashing Carlos' face, she could become Elena's worst nightmare, once they meet,

and maybe Geraldo will realize that is was Monica that he loved.

actually I'm waiting for some one to grab the 'dije', or for the clasp to fail like it always does, but if not I'm sure Monica will return at least one more time to say her goodbyes. (or maybe that is all in the video)

and I haven't seen where Diego or anyone else has noticed she is wearing the 'dije'.

En Otra Piel,

Thanks, Kelly. The scene with Andriana and Cami was a little too weird with all the miscommunication. Hopefully she'll find out the truth soon as right now she's a little too much to take.

Deb, Diego noticed the dije and mentioned it very briefly. I think Diego thinks Andriana found it in his drawer (and doesn't suspect Valeria).

Thanks, Kelly, for an excellent recap. I really don't want to say more, since I'm so fed up with this novela that all I can do is whine. So I'll just be quiet.

Thanks, Kelly, for the great recap. I particularly liked:

He’s thankful to Selma for helping him out, and sparks fly. Little, tearful sparks, but still sparks. Yeah! (We take what we can get at this point).

Maite, voice of reason who should maybe think about being a therapist, tells them that Mondri (or whatever you want to call her) isn’t well..

Yeah, we'll take what we can get. At least we have funny recaps that obviate the need for me to actually watch the capitulo.

Speaking of which, I may or may not be able to recap tonight's episode. I will be at the beach where I can get Telemundo but I may not be able to watch. I'll let you know.

CIELOS, Miércoles

Elsa finally reaches Chema. She says she has to speak to him personally. He says come on down! Despite Lucila's warnings, she does. She arrives, hooded in Juarez, at Chema's dingy, underground drug factory. But at least he's set up a wonderful meal for them, complete with fruit, fine cutlery and wine. He pours her a glass.

Elsa says she and Chema could be a great team. She straddles his lap, and they have some bad guy sex. Afterwards, she's ready to tell him her plans. She eats a piece of fruit. She then starts coughing. Uh oh. What have you done? As she collapses on the floor DEAD, we realize that Chema has poisoned her! He doesn't like losers. He tells Toro to "take out the trash".

Vicky is happy with her victory. She wants Ignacio to be her General Secretary, or right hand man. Leo should come back from Colombia and work in the government, and of course Ana and Ela have her full confidence.

We later see Ignacio, Ana and Elena kill a few more drug guys in a hotel, using silencers.

Vicky has come to visit Danilo, and surprises him saying she brought her chief of staff, Ignacio. Lilo thinks quickly, and while Vicky meets with Mónica, the real Danilo is forced to meet with Ignacio. Ig later remarks that the guy looked thin, and was very quiet and surly. This is of course the opposite of what Vicky finds. Mónica is so mad at herself, later telling Saul that AC will always be like this, valuing his latest conquest, and the business, more than he values her. Anyway, once again AC avoids detection.

But he could have problems soon. Ernie meets with Rutila, and urges him to go away with him, especially if Ximena is released. He says he has a job near the border, then they'll cross and have a new life in the US (a lie). Trust me, he adds. Ruti hesitates, but ends up saying yes. She gives him some money that AC gave her, and asks how much he has left. Not much, he says, remembering paying off Isabel.

Isabel misses Vic, and calls him, but hangs up.

Chacorta tells Irma she'll be her own producer, they don't need Pepe anymore.

Pancha tries to kiss Ximena in prison, getting in one little kiss, but Ximena barely escapes more.

Lai doesn't trust Helga, even though Helga says you can have Iñaki. Helga reveals she's working with AC (at least to keep Bert's death secret). She also wonder if Lai is working with Chema.

AC tells Chacorta he won't give Xime custody even if she does get out. And he stills wants to kill Santiago. Chacorta thinks he's not thinking straight. I agree.

Ernie does get some pictures of AC. Can he get them to Chema? He tells Ruti to get ready to leave. Luzma half overhears, says are you leaving, Ruti? Ruti says you know I'm going to college, right? Yeah, right.

And they're still all keeping Bert's death secret from Alba.

With all these secrets, something's gotta give!

muchas gracias Hombre

uh oh, I see a dead Ernie muy pronto. I don't think he will get that photo to Chema.

Elsa's last meal looked deliciosa & hot sex builds up an appetite. Good riddance though.

Cielos

thanks again Hombre,
my interest in watching is dropping but your recaps are great!

Lai picked right up on Helga being there to spy on her for Aurelio,
although Helga wouldn't admit to it.

Chema probably got rid of his own mother.

I was waiting for the flash to go off as Ernie was snapping his pictures of Aurelio from the bushes,
but once again he is staying ahead of the game.

I at first thought Ignacio was hunting down his father's killers, but who are these guys he's killing, Chema's, Aurelio's, or just some small guys?

and the "Gober" is becoming more clueless every day.

EN OTRA PIEL:

Who knows about Mondriana? Jorge, Selma, Diego, Vale, Maite? Is that right? Does Elena know?

I did watch this TN at the beginning and know that Emi found the dije and was going to have the clasp repaired. Did she ever get that done?

I am loving the actor who's playing Selma. Have since the beginning. I also liked Laura Flores and am bummed that she has a TN now that's running at the same time as MCET (I'm limiting myself to one once DQTQ2 ends)

Nanette

En Otra Piel

Hi Nanette. Jorge and Selma are the only two that know about the soul switch. Diego thought, thanks to Rodrigo, that she had multiple personalities or memory loss. I don't think he ever believed that the soul of Monica Serrano was en otra piel.

There have been very few scenes with Valeria since Andriana's soul took over (and no scenes with Maite and Andriana), so I'm guessing that, as Maite stated, they think she has a screw loose (or perhaps memory loss).

I don't remember if Emi had a chance to fix the dije before giving it back to Monica. But I can see the writers using a weak clasp to bring Monica back.

I also like the actors playing Selma, Rodrigo, and Marta.

spanish student

Thanks, Kelly. Loved your snark. Really liked "soul switch" and "rough coming back from purgatory".

I'm starting to think they're going for the very last episode for Elena to get any punishment at all. Lorena and Gerardo are, exactly as you said, complete cowards.

We had the full sourpuss last night. I was very glad they showed Maite intervening and casting a little doubt on Sourpuss's angry denunciation of Mondriana.

I think Mónica will return. But it crossed my mind that they, remotely, might go with Adriana trying to impersonate Mónica because she has a soft heart and would like to help Emiliana.

My fingers and toes are crossed that El Pachuco either gets grabbed up by Eddie or somehow is not able to do Emi any more harm. This story line is just SO awful. None of the villains in El Cuerpo del Deseo were as twisted as Elena.

I think Emiliana did get the clasp on the dije fixed.

We absolutely cannot count on Diego for any help in bringing Mónica back.

SS: thanks for clearing that up about who knows the real situation.

I'll have to go back and find the post where Jorge finds out. Maybe when DQTQ2 ends, I can find the time to go back and catch up on all the recaps/comments. It looks like this one is going on for a few more weeks.

Novelera: thanks for the info on Emi and the dije. I know Monica took it from Emi, but wasn't sure if E. had time to fix it before that happened.

Every time I see Rod, I think of Harold from Harold and Kumar, etc.

EN OTRA PIEL

Maybe if they tell Adriana what's up and she doesn't totally lose her mind over the concept (or remembers that she kinda already knows about it), then she'll willingly go along with a plan to let Monica see the girls once more and save Emi once and for all. I'm still holding out for Monica to stay in Elena's body, but that may be a stretch even for a novela. Or not. As long as Elena's soul goes away.

EL SENOR

You know there's a problem with Chacorta is the voice of reason. It makes sense that the girls would be in the way off the Danilo Dos Plan. Smart of Danilo to invite Ignacio over any time. Hope it makes things difficult for Aurelio. Now, how do we get rid of Ernie? Rutila will NOT be happy when she sees what he really has planned for their lives. Rutila isn't the pushover that her mother was. But most important, what's up with Cabo??

En Otra Piel – Jueves – Part 1

Lots of confusion in tonight's capitulo and a ghost!!

All the people who met Adriana were confused as to why she didn't remember them and why they are calling her Mónica. These included Ric and Camila (in flashback), Maite and Valeria. Gerardo calls Adriana on the phone and is confused when she hangs up on him. But Adriana can't stop looking at a picture of Camila and Emi that she found and she tells Valeria that she got a funny feeling when she was with Camila.

Valeria tells Maite that she is afraid that Mondriana's transformation is her fault. She tells her about putting the dije in Mondriana's bag because Diego had told her that Adriana got her memory back when she had it and she wanted to bring Diego's Adriana back but now there are problems. Maite quips that Mondriana is, “una persona con dije y otra sin dije. ¡Qué le dije!” “One person with the dije and another person without the dije. What I said!”

At the hospital, Emi desperately wants to see Mondriana. She cannot understand why Mondriana won't sneak in to see her or call her on the phone. Poor Diego is in the middle. He is on unofficial guard duty at the hospital because Eddie still can't get any police there. Both Emi and Marta beg Diego to have Mondriana call or visit Emi. Whenever Lorena sees Diego at the hospital, she demands that he leave.

Gerardo is trying to blackmail Elena into stopping poisoning Emi. He threatens to reveal that she killed Mónica Serrano. Elena says that she will reveal that Gerardo shot the judge. She wants to get married right away so that they have the marital privilege and can refuse to testify against one another. [Readers of the recaps of Reina de Corazones will recall our extensive discussion of this privilege. In real (not telenovela) law, the privilege only applies to criminal acts committed WHILE the parties are married.]She also says that if Gerardo doesn't marry her, she will continue to poison Emi.

Gerardo meets with a lawyer about breaking his “sociedad” “partnership” with Elena. The lawyer says that it could take months or years and will cost Gerardo a lot of money but Gerardo tells him to go ahead and file.

Selma and Jorge's relationship seems to be progressing slowly. They rehash with each other about how they realized that Mondriana was really Mónica Serrano and Selma tells him about her love for Estéban. If Adriana's soul is back in her body, they wonder where Mónica's soul is?

En Otra Piel – Jueves – Part 2

Back at her apartment, Selma gets out Mondriana's video. She flashes back to Modriana giving it to her in case Adriana takes her body back. Selma goes to see Adriana and tries to tell her what happened to her. She manages to get Adriana to remember meeting Mónica Serrano but she drags out the story so much that Adriana starts to fall asleep from boredom as do we.

Gabriel and Jennifer are with the dog (remember the dog, Pachito, or something like that?) Elena shows up and as we know, the dog does not like Elena. He barks and growls and Gab can hardly hold him. Elena says nasty things to the dog and Gab says nasty things back to Elena and Elena says that he will pay. Obviously, we need a little boost to Elena's motivation to try and harm Jennifer because otherwise why would she bother with everything else that is going on?

OK. Finally. The two things that actually happened last night. First, Diego is hanging out a the hospital and sees a suspicious person in scrubs heading for Emi's room. It's Pachuco. It takes a second for the penny to drop but Diego starts to go after him when he is stopped by Lorena telling him to leave. Diego tries to reason with her (forget that) and finally just pushes her aside and bursts into Emi's room just as Pachuco is about to inject something into Emi's IV line. They fight. Camila was in Emi's room asleep and she jumps up. Security is called and they grab Diego, which lets Pachuco escape. At this moment Jorge shows up and demands to know what is going on.

Second, Gerardo and Elena are in the Serrano mansion. A book falls off the shelf by itself in the study where Elena is. A mysterious breeze tousles Gerardo's hair. Then Elena decides to seduce Gerardo. She's got him down on the bed when they hear the piano playing. They go to the secret room and the piano there is playing BY ITSELF. Elena screams that it is Mónica's ghost and says that Mónica is dead and buried and can't harm them. A light bulb explodes. Elena loses it and goes for her gun. [Mónica didn't need Adriana's body! She is doing better as a plain old ghost!]

CIELOS - Jueves

Vicky is still glowing from her latest sex with "Danilo". She confirms Ignacio will be her chief of staff. Diana will be her liason to the press. She's upset about the death squad killings, even though Ig says the people are happy. Later, Ig meets with Ana and Elena. They've been using old case files of drug cases where the guys got off, then tracking down the suspects and killing them. They may get caught accessing files. Ig says he'll find a room in the government headquarters where they can collect all their data secretly. Hmmmm.

Lucila frantically calls to locate Elsa. Finally Chema answers, says she was here, now she left. So don't bother me! Luci is not happy about this.

Victor catches Ernie packing his bags. Ernie says don't tell anyone. Vic says why not? Okay, says Ernie, this is why. Your father Chacorta ordered me to kill Isabel. I had to use all my money to give her, and convince her to go far away. I saved her life. If Chacorta finds out, he'll kill Isabel AND me. Vic is mad that Ernie lied to him, but even madder about what Chacorta did.

Ximena is free! She wins the trial. Ignacio was her lawyer. Santiago thanks Ig profusely. Xime gives a cursory thanks, then says I never want to see you again, and stay away from my family, because your wife killed my son Bert!

Xime is reunited with Rutila and Luzma, and they fly back to Sinaloa. Ernie is waiting on his moto, and signals to Ruti. But on the phone, she says she can't come now. He's disappointed, and leaves. He calls Chema and says I don't think my girlfriend is coming. But I have a surprise for you! (the pictures came out perfectly, showing AC).

AC shows up in his SUV. He tells Xime HE gets custody, he doesn't trust his daughters with that Santiago. He and Xime have a discussion, and it's not going anywhere. Ruti says let me talk to Dad. She gets in the car, and they drive away. She pleads with him, she's 18 now, she wants to make her own decisions. She doesn't want this life. AC says he always protects his children. She replies, what about Bert? She says this life is not for her, she has the right to make a new life. He finally gives in and drops her at the hotel where Ximena is.

At this point, Ernie's at the airport, his flight is leaving soon. Ruti meets her Mom, says AC let her go, but then adds, but I'm leaving. She won't tell her Mom where, and she leaves. She rushes to where Ernie is, and reaches him just in time! They get on a private jet, and zoom off towards Chema (Ernie hasn't told Ruti this part).

Soon after, Xime calls AC, and tells her that Ruti left. AC and Chacorta frantically search, in vain. They realize Ruti is probably with Ernie. Chacorta threaten Vics, you're not leaving this house until you tell me where Ernie and Rutila are! But he doesn't know, and he's mad as hell at Chacorta anyway.

Chacorta has another problem. Irma wants to help raise Carlitos, so she wants to know about his mother Matilde, did she drink? Chacorta says don't worry, you'll never see HER again. Irma has a flash of understanding, then somberly says, if you don't answer this, I'm leaving. But what happened to Matilde?

I'm sure Chacorta will be a man and tell her that he strangled Mati with his own hands. NOT!

En Otra Piel

Many thanks, Jean, for your excellent recap. I didn't see last night's episode, and I think I may let your recap serve as my having seen it. I certainly enjoyed the recap considerably more than I've been enjoying watching the novela. My favorite line was your remark about Selma's dragging out the story "so much that Adriana starts to fall asleep from boredom as do we."

Cielos

Thanks Hombre! Wait until Ruti finds out that Ernesto is working for Chema. Things will be worse for her than they were with her father! I'm undecided as to whether Chacorta will tell Irma that Matilde is dead; sometimes he surprises me, and maybe by admitting it, this will instill fear into her.

Monica was right telling AC that Ruti is acting just like they did... Especially the fact that AC even stabbed her to death (or so he thought).

So is Elsa's body going to turn up somewhere; or did they drop her into the battery acid?

Cielos

Many thanks, Hombre. So did you really watch the episode rather than the Ravens game?

Terrific recap, Jean. I'm so glad you were able to do it after all, as I was at book club last night and managed to watch the episode when I got home, but could not have written anything. By the way, the book was "Flight Behavior" by Barbara Kingsolver. I recommend it for anyone interested in the environment. It's well written, with well-drawn characters. The central plot concerns monarch butterflies.

I'm thinking the sociedad Gerardo wants to cancel is that one they, or maybe only he, signed giving Elena half of everything. She didn't want to be named in the will to divert attention from herself concerning a motive for Mónica's death. But she made sure she had monetary rights.

I also liked Selma putting Adriana to sleep, just like Viewerville. They can't just have Selma show up and pop the DVD into a laptop and get the whole thing over with. Oh, no. We have to wait for Adriana to know what we've known for so very long. Also liked your comment that Mónica is doing better as a plain old ghost!

I could have screamed with frustration as the guards grabbed up Diego and let Pachuco get away, doubtless to kidnap Adriana in a week or so. I think the writers are done with Emi being poisoned. Stupid, stupid Camila asks why Diego attacked the nurse. I don't think Emi was awake so Diego's in the soup again.

I don't think Valeria will try to take back the dije. I'm leaning now toward Adriana voluntarily letting Mónica take back the body in order to finish her plan of making Gerardo and Elena pay and to protect her children.

I thought last night's episode was better than some of them lately. There appeared to be some forward movement.

CIELOS:

Juanita, I love my Ravens, but this was just a pre-season game, none of the starters were playing, and I did watch the first half. But come the regular season, I don't care how many comas, killings and baby switches the novelas have, the Ravens will come first!

Back to Cielos. I think Ignacio's death squad is immoral, something Leo would never approve of. So I predict Ignacio will end up dead, and Leo will be boyfriendless again.

En Otra Piel

thanks so much for the recap Jean,
I totally missed that Selma has Monica's video.

things are picking up.

and wow, this episode really touched me, I could see what a wonderful person Monica Serrano was, that she died suddenly, and the people around her were terribly hurt by the loss, but then there was this other Monica, that helped them heal, who some are just now realizing, that carried the essence of the real Monica... and perhaps will come to know the effort she made to protect them and to make things right.

another wow, Diego saves the day, just barely no thanks to Lorena, and even though Pachuco got away, isn't the syringe still there, will they be able to isolate the poison?

I don't think Monica will ever leave as long as her daughters are in danger.

and I'm thinking that maybe the dog will be history.

so 'good' guy Geraldo who is trying to get Elena under control, has done nothing to help Emi whose condition is becoming irreversible.

Cielos

great recap Hombre!

I guess when you turn 18, your powerful narco family can no longer tell you what to do, you know, laws and such.

I wonder how much of Ernies dream of starting over in the States is real, like none, this kid is narco all the way, he loves the money and the power, but how would he ever swing Ruti, while at the same time betraying her father, and of course it won't be a quick death because Chema will use Ruti to reel in Aurelio.

for some reason I always remember that young Ruti staring at Chema from a window, and Chema looking back at her.

Irma seems to be taking what Chacorta does, one lump at a time, she likes her bad boy.

yes Hombre on Ignacio, and if Leo comes back she will have to clean house.

the gran final promo I saw has the 'iconic' Aurelio and Chema, no background scenery at all, walk up to each other, face-to-face.

Cielos

Tks otra vez Hombre

I thought for sure AC would catch Rutila & kill Ernie, but I guess Chema will have to take care of him.
Remember in season 1 when Chema went to Turco's house & saw a very young Rutlia looking out the window. he was definitely leching. She will recognize him right away & I don't doubt the beast will have his way with her probably leading to Ernie's demise.

The final is Sept 22.

We were wondering at the time if Chacorta meant kill Isabella. Is Ernie lying to Vic Jr?

En Otra Piel

Deb, I enjoyed your comment very much about how Mónica helped her family (except Elena!) heal from losing her.

Cielos

ah, maybe I should clarify about the gran final promo, if you haven't seen it, it wasn't a scene from the show, just something they staged for the promo.

En Otra Piel

thanks novelera,

for some reason I got the "Big" picture last night, that not only was Monica Serrano a wonderful and caring person in real life, but has also returned to care for the ones she loves, left in the wake of her tragic death, quite an amazing lady, and only now are some beginning to appreciate her presence.

let's hope that Adriana is a good sport and chips in.

En Otra Piel

Thank you all so much for your comments about Valeria actions with the dije. I remember at the beginning when she started liking Diego and thought that it would cause a negative effect on her relationship with Monica. She is a little short of being a villan choosing to betray Monica, in spite of knowing Monica was facing serious problems and Diego was also helping her and was somewhat patiently waiting for Adriana. He did have control of the dije and could have used it at any time.

At this point, I wish Adriana would just go away and take Valeria with her and not come back until Monica squares everything.

I really liked the ending of ECDD... where the "good guys" lovingly return Salvador back to Cantalicia and his son.

EN OTRA PIEL – VIERNES

At the pensión Selma tells Adriana that Mónica is gone forever. She gives Adriana the disk Mónica recorded and says that Adriana should watch it with Diego.

Elena shoots the upright piano in the secret room about 6 times, waking the whole household. Marta gets a good look at how crazy Elena is, although Gerardo makes up a tall tale about their having surprised a burglar.

Jorge fixes it with the guards so that Diego is not arrested even though Dummy Lorena shrieks her objections. Diego explains to Jorge after Lorena leaves how he was suspicious of the guy wearing a mask over his mouth and nose and pursued him into Emi’s room. He says he got there just in time to keep the guy from injecting something into Emi’s drip. Sadly, the syringe was not recovered.

Adriana finds out from Maite and Valeria that it’s August, and months have passed without her knowing it. Maite tells her about how they were all kidnapped and got to know each other in the truck that was carrying them to the US to be prostitutes. Maite says that it was Carlos Ricalde who set it up. Adriana flashes back to Ricalde attacking her and her slashing his face with a piece of glass.

Pachuco calls Elena, who snarls at him that she certainly hopes Emiliana’s brains have been fried by now. He tells her that he was stopped by Diego Ochoa.

After the gunfight in the secret room between Elena and the piano, Marta insists that Jennifer leave this household and right now! Susana eaves drops at the door while Marta, Gabriel, and Jennifer discuss the danger in the mansion and also the possible danger from Rottweiler. Is it possible a worried look crosses Susana’s face overhearing what they say about Elena?

Adriana and Diego watch Mónica’s video of the whole story of the exchange of souls, from soup to nuts, as it were.

Gerardo has a very frank conversation with Lorena. He tells her about the piano and his sense that Mónica is there. He tells her that he came to love her sister. But that what he felt for Elena was unbridled passion, but it couldn’t be mistaken for love. His one true love has been Mónica – Adriana. When Lorena starts in yelling about Adriana the prostitute, he tells her that Adriana didn’t want anything to do with him because of his relationship with Elena. He was all ready to leave Elena to be with Adriana when Elena showed up pregnant. Anyway, he says, he’s going to go ahead and marry Elena. He says the two of them are both cowards, incapable of stopping Elena. That shut her up! [If he’s spilling everything, why doesn’t he tell her about her charming daughter pushing him toward the altar with the threat of more harm to Emiliana if he doesn’t go through with it?]

Adriana confirms some things with Diego after watching the video: that she didn’t recognize him while she was Mónica. He finally admits that what he heard on the video made all that had happened make sense.

Jorge tells Camila about the sidekick of Carlos Ricalde being the one who might have been trying to harm Emiliana. Cami is practically hysterical. Jorge tells Camila he’s going to try for custody of Emiliana, and he asks for her help.

CIELOS - Viernes

The tension keeps rising, as we approach the gran final (or maybe the cliffhanger for Season 3?)

Ignacio, Ana Sofia and Elena find an unused room in the bowels of he government building to use as their death squad info headquarters. They put up a chart of pictures on the wall. They've eliminated many of the drug distribution chain, but it'll be much harder to get to the guys at the top - AC, Chacorta, Chema and Tijeras. They have one of the few pictures of AC still existent, and Ig says if Leo believes AC is alive, so does he. Since they need more manpower, Ig tells Ana and Elena to ask other cops if they want to help. And they'll be well paid (Ig is rich).

Vicky continues to be entranced by AC. She thinks her feelings for him are why she didn't notice he was thin and sick as reported by Ignacio. She calls Leo, who has found that Tijeras may be there in Colombia, and is tracing his drug distribution chain. Vicky wants Leo back to combat this death squad thing (Ignacio is sitting right there silently when she says this).

Lai tells Helga that Matilde was killed, and if Helga doesn't watch out, she could be killed, too. Helga boldly goes, are you threatening me? Garnica treats Lai, Inaki and Helga like dirt, but wants to increase his payoffs.

Chacorta DOES tell Irma the truth, that he killed Mati for a terrible betrayal. Irma decides to stay, she now knows what he's capable of, but she's with him right away. She also takes a liking to Victor, and the two of them go shopping. This could cause a problem if Vic tells her some of the other things he knows.

Monica tells AC that he's conquered Vicky's heart, shouldn't he now move to the blackmail stage, where he reveals himself and forces her to grant favors to the druglords? Or did he forget about the plan? Is he just enjoying her too much? She points out he always goof up with this.

Alba is furious that no one tells her anything. So Chacorta tells her that Ruti has disappeared. He doesn't tell her that Bert is dead, and asks Xime not to tell her, either. Xime thinks Alba is strong enough to know.

Lilo traces the deed the Ernie got, and finds it was fake, and that Ernie didn't inherit squat. But he must be in Juarez. Monica points out that Chema has his base there, and this could be a revenge move by Ernie (she's the smartest one around). AC and Xime both accuse the other of causing Ruti to leave.

Ernie and Ruti are brought, hooded to Chema's lair. First they're taken to a nice modern room where they'll live. Ernie tells Ruti she should use the name Ruth Mendez. Ernie meets with Chema, and shows him the picture of AC. That's the man, says Chema in delight. You done well, kid. I'm giving you your own house, car and guards. Ernie is grateful, but sort of wants to move to the US with "Ruth". Chema's not so keen on that part.

Ruti is now brought in, and immediately recognizes Chema, and tells him she does, "from news reports", although really it was from when she was a kid, being taken away with El Turco. I'm pretty sure Chema knows who she is, too, but he doesn't let on. They have a somewhat tense fine dining meal there among the packs of heroin, with Chema saying he's a good guy, just makes a little money giving the Gringos what they want. And don't believe the whole thing about warring druglords, that's really just the Colombians. Ruti doesn't buy this for a minute. Ernie looks on with a goofy "Jethro Clampett" smile.

AC and crew are forming a plan to go to Juarez, find Chema, and exact some justicia!!

CIELOS:

I meant to say that Irma tells Chacorta she's with him "all the way".

Hombre
Thanks for all your recaps this season. The story has had more momentum lately. It will be interesting to see who lives til the end of this season. One could guess but maybe the writers will use some creativity and surprise us.

En Otra Piel

Great recap, Novelera. Many thanks.

Yes, I too thought that Susana seemed quite disconcerted, perhaps even frightened, about what she heard through the closed door. Given what Elena said to her earlier, and now this, I think she may be beginning to realize that Elena is not just beautiful, smart, and powerful, but also a dangerous nutcase. Here's hoping.

Speaking of nuts, I'd have said that Diego and Adriana watched the video from nuts to nuttiest. I was a bit surprised to see that it was Adriana who responded most thoughtfully to the video. It was a relief to see that there might be a thoughtful human being inside the hyper motor-mouth creature she has been since her "return." Diego, OTOH, seemed much less compelled by the video, even though he clearly does care about Emi's welfare.

Was it my imagination, or did Camila seem less than enthusiastic about Jorge's plan to seek custody of Emi?

And I loved your question about Gerardo's talk with Lorena: "[If he’s spilling everything, why doesn’t he tell her about her charming daughter pushing him toward the altar with the threat of more harm to Emiliana if he doesn’t go through with it?]" Yes! Of course, if he did that, we might actually be making some real progress toward an end.

Cielos

Thanks once again, Hombre, for a terrific recap. I've been assuming ever since I heard there would be a season 3 that this season won't bring the kind of resolution I was hoping for. No cliffhanger will get me to watch a 3rd season.

Cielos

Tks Hombre.
Ernie was smart enough not to reveal that Ruti is AC's hija. Once Ruti finds out about the betrayal of her papa she is going to hate Ernie.

Cielos

thanks hombre great recap. Do people really think Ruti will hate Ernie cause of the betrayal of her father? I mean AC KILLED both of Monicas brothers and literally tried to kill her! yet she loves him

En Otra Piel:
Thanks for the recap, Novelera. I actually wanted to watch the episode last night. I was so hoping that Pachuco left the syringe behind and it would be found.

But then I was thinking (always dangerous) about why Cami or Lorena should believe for even a second that Diego was doing something wrong in attacking Pachuco. Did any actual nurse come forward and say they were attacked? Don't reports have to be filed about these things? Did any nurse have any business in Emi's room at the time? Is there video surveillance in this hospital or not? Couldn't Eddie have told security at the hospital that he believed that a patient was in danger and the Diego was working with the police to protect Emi?

I can't imagine what it would be like to have a video of yourself speaking things that you have no memory of saying and acting like a different person. I think I understand Diego's reaction. He wants to help Emi and Camila but much more he doesn't want to lose his Adriana again so he's very conflicted.

En Otra Piel

thanks so much novelera,
so kind of you to throw in all of these recaps.

what's REALLY frustrating for me is like the hospital scene with Pachuco, the security guards saw nothing unusual in Pachuco running as fast as he could to get away, Diego works for the police but none were called, neither the syringe or any of it's contents that were squirted all around were recovered, Diego just leaves to go home to check on Adriana, Camila was left out of the loop, and Jorge downplays the whole event, although he does let it slip that the guy has something to do with Carlos. (and Eddie was never told)
errrrrr...

"the gunfight in the secret room between Elena and the piano" haha!
(somebody give the piano a gun)

I knew what was on the video but Adriana sitting down and watching someone else in her body tell the story still made me jump, this was freaky, and Diego walks in and casually says, when did you make this video?

odd to see Geraldo drinking during the day and Lorena getting on him about it, did he say "it's ok, I'm an alcoholic", and when Lorena slapped him, that sure woke me up, but Geraldo sure laid it all out while Lorena became even more of a dummy right before our eyes.

and yes novelera, once more they ignore that Geraldo is doing nothing to help Emi.

so Elena visits Pachuco and gets the history of Diego/Adriana and Diego being an escaped prisoner being in jail for killing Adriana's brother that was all set up by Pachuco, (but Elena doesn't know that Diego now works for the police). She sure was scratching her head about Adriana and Diego BOTH working in HER house, and she can really see now, in her twisted way, how they have been plotting against her all along.

Cielos

Thanks again Hombre for an awesome recap.

I think Ignacio's days are really numbered, since he told Vicky that Danilo looked so pale and sick. AC is not too happy with this report.

So now they figured out Ernie is with Chema. If AC only knew that Ernie betrayed him with that picture; and now Ruti has gotten in way over her head since she really remembers Chema. Ernie is so naive.

War between them should be starting soon. You'd think Ruti would have been just a little bit suspicious when they put that black hood over her head

Cielos 2

wow, many thanks Hombre,
another fine recap!

Ruti thinks they should get a room in a hotel,
but Jethro likes their underground windowless suite.

ah yes, and they are married, by Malverde, the saint of the narcos.

at dinner with Chema, Ruti flashes back to Victor being shot in the knees and her Alba being shot down, both by Chema's guys.

and doesn't Ignacio's comments to Vicky, about the Danilo he saw, get back to Aurelio.

yes Hombre, Monica is the smart one here, but it's also amazing how Lilo uses his Cuban G2 contacts to find out just about anything.

interesting how Garnica refers to Mati as 'ojiverde' (green eyes).

Finally some movement! Do you think they will wrap this up in 2 or 3 weeks? We still need to put everything right, put Adriana in jeopardy, probably Valeria and Gennifer as well, and get rid of the bad guys. I'm guessing probably 3 weeks.

Thanks to all the recappers that stayed with this through the last really ssssslllllllooooooowwwww weeks. I've enjoyed your comments.

I just hope there is something really nasty in Elena's future which involves a slow, painful finish. And I hope that her Mother goes with her. She is one of the more frustrating characters in a show with a bunch of them. (This actress must specialize in these parts as she played the same type in Una Maid en Manhattan and I hoped she died in that one as well.)

En Otra Piel

Sorry, the above comment was not labeled. I'm working from my phone and it is a bit different.

En Otra Piel

I share you wish for something really horrible to happen to Elena. I can't even imagine anything sufficiently horrible. Lorena is only slightly deserving of a horrible end - being murdered by her own precious daughter might do it.

As for when we might look for the grand finale, it's got to be after Sept. 23 when Señora Acero debuts and probably at least several weeks after that. Les Mis is still being promoted as only "Pronto," not "Muy Pronto" and with no date. I hope I'm wrong but I can't see Telmundo debuting two new novelas at exactly the same time.

En Otra Piel: My last comment should have read Lorena is only slightly LESS deserving of a horrible end.

En Otra Piel

Miguel, you got it! I think we're all fondly hoping for an awful end for Elena. And, Jean, 100% agree that it's hard to think of anything sufficiently awful for Elena's punishment.

I am leaning toward a couple of finishes I've seen: La Patrona, Christian Bach's character paralyzed in a mine cave in, deserted by her son and grandson, and shrieking for the disinterested servants to come and turn her or something.

Lucero's character ended up in jail, disfigured from burns in Mañana es para Siempre.

I hope they just don't kill her off. I'd like to see her facing a future of years and years of suffering, hopefully disfigured pretty badly.

Wow, I sound pretty sadistic here. But what could be worse than hoping an 11-year old child had been brain damaged.

Cielos
I really think Ruti will choose papa over Ernie. She will realize he has been scum all along. She wants far away from the family business. The difference with Monica, she has been in love with AC since they were very young & have had a long history.

Papa at one time said she is just like him, I think she will be instrumental in taking out Chema, (is he in season 3?) If she knows about her dog, all bets are off.

But of course, I have never been right about anything in this novela.

En Otra Piel

Jean,
Iwas hoping for a closer endings but what you said makes sense. I'll be way over my head in Telenovelalandia as I've been watching Mi Corazon es Tuyo (I'm a couple or weeks behind but I've got them taped - my first Univision) and I decided I had to see what was getting everyone excited about Reina de Corazones. I've been watching those on demand (I am so tired of the Buzz Lightyear Disney commercial that I think I might boycott the parks for life!), and of course I'm hooked on that one as well. I guess my social life is set until the end of Piel.

Novelera,
I'm thinking they should trap her somewhere with a few hundred of those creepy burned up dolls and a continuous loop tape of Monica Serano recordings. This is, of course, after she is injected with the poison that she's been giving Emi and is now in a wheelchair. But most important would be a ban on any beauty products such as make-up, nail polish and moisturizer. A boy can dream, right?

LOVE LOVE LOVE your vision, Miguel! She would have to wear shapeless schmattas that covered the knee. Maybe she would have to undergo butt and lip reduction surgery too (of course the butt part wouldn't make much difference if she was in a wheelchair.) There would be cases of bright pink lipstick just out of her reach and mirrors everywhere...

I think they will sell Elene to the wealthy Chinese man they were going to sell Camila to. Pacheco will turn on her.

Sue in Miami

En Otra Piel

Miguel, your version of Elena in Hell was fantastic! And, Jean, cases of bright pink lipstick just out of her reach, yep!

Sue in Miami, that's really a twist! Although I'm afraid she'd overpower the Chinese man and come back for one last try for Gerardo!

En Otra Piel

I like the Chinese angle, I believe that could easily be added to my scenario. Also, I forgot to mention the rats. They would have to be crawling everywhere. We all know that Elena really likes rats. ;)

I do hope the writers come up with something really out there and "fun" as punishment.
