Diego's Deep Secret

[Eli's computer won't be up till later this week so this is bare bones.  If someone has extra "meat" for the episodio I'll be happy to paste your post with it when I return this evening. --ed.]

Fanny runs into Ana in the drive and informs her that DonFernando and Isabela’s wedding will be in three weeks.  Ana re-enters the house and heads upstairs suffering a mild meltdown.

Inside, a bit later, Fanny finds Tío Diego and Abuelo Nico looking at the basket of goodies that Isabellow’s naca mama, Yolanda, had sent over and has a belly laugh and a half.  Nico admits to Diego that he's worried about his girlfriend--but that it's got nothing to do with his....um...virility.

Upstairs Alicia tells Briana to forget about Big Bro Nando cuz he’s just too into Ximena now—and, yeah, she is “the older woman”.  I guess Bri wants to give it one more try and she lands one on Nerdando’s pucker-puss just as Xi walks in.  Xi has a major meltdown and races into the gardens shrieking and shaking.  Nando finds her and puts her to bed in Fanny’s bedroom.  (Yaw-w-w-wn.  FF>>FF>>)

Manuela is in the kitchen cooking and hornier than ever.  Bruno walks in on her talking to herself about how sexy Johnny is (“You get me as hot as this cooking pot) and feels he’s being three-timed.

Diego follows Ana upstairs and watches her kissing the kids.  He tells himself he wants his own beso tronando.

Downstairs Fanny learns from Abue that Diego has a small crush on Ana.

Downtown, Jennifer has an appointment with the cancer specialist who recommends she operates and removes her uterus.  Jens realizes she’ll never have kids of her own.

Diego reminds Ana that they have a date for coffee.  She finally gives in and says it will have to be at the manse because she’ll get screamed at again if she leaves the grounds.

Back across town, Johnny’s torture continues.  (Boo-Hoo.  what a shlamiel! FF>>

At home after school, Ali informs on Sebastian to Ana about his hanging around with that hip-hop gang (yeah, the kids who all look like they’ve got ants in their pants every time they turn on their master blaster).  Ali assures Ana she doesn’t want to seem like a gossip—though that is exactly what she is—but she wonders about him hanging around with those kids.  Ana assures her they’re just a group of well-meaning kids that like to dance.

At the office Bela begs for a church wedding while DonFer squirms.  He tells her he’s not that religious.  No problema, she has a rent-a-padre in mind who will arrange it for them.

Bruno has a nightmare about being a rag picker pursued by an evil witch—You guessed it: Isabruja-jajajajaja!!!!

Leon gets his first commissioned artwork job.  He also gets another text from Mystery Person that her dad died.

Later, Fanny and Nerdando have a chat over Xi and her family “issues”.  Seems her papi traded in her mami for a much newer model.  She asks him how could say he“loves” somebody that he really doesn’t know anything about?

Ana warns Seb over getting too chummy with the hip-hop gang.

Jens opens a letter addressed to Johnny which turns out to be a legal summons for failure to pay the rent (like 6 months’ worth).

Johnny, still in chains and bloody, prays that Jens won’t have cancer.  (Too late--but it’s not like he’s got a private line into the Big Guy or anything anyway…..)

Bruno coaxes Ana to enter the library and stands guard.  Inside Diego, apparently having borrowed one of Bruno’s outfits, surprises her with a seductively formal coffee, tea, or me presentation.   He’s beginning to make seductive headway when DonFer returns home and insists that Bruno bring him coffee in the library.   Unfortunately, Bruno has to explain why he can’t and DonFer barges in on Diego and wrecks it for his brother.  He sees Ana and goes for his brother’s throat.  Ana has to pull him off Diego.

Meanwhile, Jens has formally called Papa Nico to her house to break off their relationship.  She lets him believe that it’s because of a younger man.

Diego rips his brother a new one.  “—Why is it such a problem, you bitter brute, that I’m having coffee with Ana?  I’m so fed up with you always having to be Mr. Perfect, Mr. Correct!!”  (He’s tired of also feeling the need to always be running away. (I think?)  He’s sick to death of his big brother also stealing everything he loves from him.

Outside, Bruno continues as guard dog and shoos Nando and Fanny back upstairs.

Diego races outside with Fanny close on his heels.  She convinces him to stick around and unload on her instead of her brother.  He does.

Inside, DonFerdo asks Bruno if the kids were awakened by the fracas.  Bruno says no.  He tells DonFerdo to open up to him and get whatever is bothering him off his chest.

Diego explains to Ana how he was always the free spirit while Don Nico and Big Bro were the strict and proper ones.  He was always ignored by the two of them growing up.  The last straw came twenty-two years ago when DonFer stole the love of his life from him: Estafania.  (Dun-dun-dun-dunnnnn!)

Inside the library, DonFerdo admits to destroying his brother’s life and that now he’s jealous over Ana, though he knows he hasn’t the right to be.  Bruno advises that “love” doesn’t know a thing about “rights”.

Diego bitterly admits that he couldn’t offer Estafania the security that his older brother could; that he feels she left him for Fernando over that; and eventually she fell in love with Fernando.   Before she died she came to see Diego, he tells Ana, to admit she was the reason for the family break up.  It also was her last wish, Diego says, that he and his brother forgive and forget.  Not an easy task, considering…..

[and from Jarifa--]

Ana runs into Fanny who tells her to her shock that the wedding is in three weeks.

Nando goes after Ximena who has evidently fled and finds her hysterical in a park begging him not to leave her. She ends up coming back with him and falling asleep in Fanny's room. Fanny fills him in on how Ximena's dad ran away with a 23 year old, her mom is always away for work and she's had like a thousand novios. Fanny thinks that the only reason Ximena is with him is because he was the first guy to say he was in love with her.

Fanny talks to her grandfather Nico about Diego liking Ana and about how her dad wants her to fond work right now that she has left her jniversity but she knows not where or how.

The doctor has Jenny's results. Best course of treatment: a total hysterectomy. She realizes she will not be having any children.

Diego wants to know if Ana is still up for going out for coffee or tea. She says okay but it has to be at the house.

Alicia tells Ana that Sebastián has been meeting with some street dancers (at least they told him he needed some rhythm and practice in a previous episode) Ana talks to Sebas and tries to dissuade him from hanging around with the street dancers since he really does not know them at all. It is better to be careful He does not look convinced.

Johnny is till being kept prisoner but does pray for Jennifer. Jennifer is worried he is not answering his phone. Jennifer finds an envelope for Johnny. He is 6 months behind in rent and is being evicted.

Isabela tells Fernando that since he is a widower they can marry in the church. He is not too excited. She insists.

León talks to Fanny and tells her he has a graphic design job he is working on. He then gets a mystery text "My mother died." narrated by a female voice. León tries to call the mystery woman but nobody is answering.

Comments:
I just now caught up and finished watching all the previous episodes and reading the recaps and comments on Caray, Caray. I must say that this novela is a welcome relief after the darkness of LQLVMR.

I am enjoying the mix-up that Diego has added to the scene. As others have posted, I could do without Johnny and Manuela. I find Johnny to be especially irritating.

Futhermore, I have to fast forward whenever they play the theme song. This song is so terrible and it really gets on my nerves.

Has anybody else noticed that some of the music is from other novelas?

Doesn't Televisa know that there are hundreds of thousands of different cell phone ringtones? If I'm not mistaken, the cell phone ringtone for MCET is the exact same one as in PQEAM.

Victoria Gomez: welcome. Televisa has been known over the years to mix refrains from music that it's used in past novelas. Usually it's not that pronounced.

I had some time this a.m. before work so started a summary but posted it on "Hasta el fin del mundo", So much for my early a.m. efforts.

I do love that the truth is coming out. I felt so bad for Nico.

Jarifa

You can still post it here. I'm still around and can add it for you.
Happy to do so!

Jardinera, superior sass and just the right touch of spice today. You were sizzling right out of the gate with "Bruno walks in on her talking to herself about how sexy Johnny is (“You get me as hot as this cooking pot) and feels he’s being three-timed".

"Back across town, Johnny’s torture continues. (Boo-Hoo. what a shlamiel! FF>>" was my other favorite.

I was very sad for Jen, but frustrated as to why she is running away from rather than to, Nico. She needs love and support right now but she is choosing to immerse herself in further sadness by isolating herself in her pain. At least she has Ana...Small comfort at a time like this.

Jarifa, I am hoping Nico will find out the truth or simply not give up...

"Diego rips his brother a new one". Can we blame him? Fer seems to want everything and everyone. He made his choice and he needs to step aside. Of course assuming Fer and Ana do get together at the end, this only ensures even more heartbreak for Diego but...

Jardinera, thank you for the fantastic summary.

Diana

Jarifa, just read your excellent comments. Thank you.

So, Isa wants a church wedding? Uh oh. That will likely be problematic if it occurs. Usually when the main couple gets together, the wedding is held in a church.

Diana

Great recap Jardinera.

"Manuela is in the kitchen cooking and hornier than ever."

"Back across town, Johnny’s torture continues. (Boo-Hoo. what a shlamiel! FF>>"

I didn't expect to like Diego this much and flip the switch on Fernando so soon but I have. I hate believing the pompous p...k, Fernando, will get Ana. He doesn't deserve two while Diego watches from the sidelines.

Jenny - you can come and stay at my house and we'll get you a second opinion

Nando - you're not special, you're just next

Diego - and Ana, you can help me get over Estafania

Juan - you didn't see that roach big as a penny loafer

Fernando - to the victor go the spoils

Bruno - friends get fired too

Ana - options

Nic - at least she gave you a reason

Thank you, Jardinera, for the great recap. I didn't catch the part about Xi's papi.

I believe crisis situations bring out the inner, 'true' person we humans conceal; therefore, I've got to cut Johnny some slack. He's been beaten to a pulp and is held hostage, with, presumably, more beatings forthcoming, yet he unselfishly prays for Jenny. He definitely earned some good-behavior points in my book!

Poor Nico! Well, now he's free for Yo-mama-naca Bruja.

Ecuador Bound, you brought up a good point. Johnny obviously does care about Jen. Frankly, his beatings have rivaled anything most of the other more nefarious villains in other TNs have received. Perhaps this might signal a turnaround?

tofie "Nando - you're not special, you're just next" made me smile.

Diana

Tofie - Re. "Nando - you're not special, you're just next," did Fanny say something to Nando about Xi's mil novios?

Fanny told Nando, Ximena did have a lot of bf's, one after the other

I thought Fanny said something like that. I don't think Xi's the girl for Nando. Alicia's friend suits him better. He needs someone with whom he can discuss Stephen Hawking and physics.

Poor Eli, hope her computer is back to a happy place soon. Thank Jardinera for filling in. Boy, if this is bare bones...was perfect and you hit all the points with your usual humor.

Heart went out to Diego last night. I've had friends who grew up sort of the odd man out in their families, and it is tough. No wonder he was so amazed at Nico's girlfriend and Nico's more laid-back attitude.

So we gather that Fanny Sr. didn't love Fer when she first married him, she went for the security (which I'm sure Fer didn't know). The sheer fact that Fer sort of either went after his bro's novio or allowed her to flip her loyalties and agreed to marry her hit me a bit sour last night. I get true love and all, but I don't know...better be a bit more to the story than that or I'm with Diego on that was not a cool move.

And let me say Fer's in your face over the coffee was WAY out of line. You either love this woman and do something about it, or you get a grip and let her live her life. He's probably especially peeved about it being his brother, but I have a feeling Fer would make anyone's life miserable who moved in on Ana. You made your choice dude, as they say.

Church wedding? Yikes. Only hope would be if Isablowhard's Rent a Padre ( cute!) is a fake.

Great, now Nando is in a relationship with a girl who rifles through guys and seems to have panic attacks at being without one because of her dad issues? Run Nando, don't walk to the nearest exit. And how old is Briana that she is best buds with Alicia ( who I think is 14 or so?).

Nico better not give up. I think he suspects something is not right. If Jen was really all about another guy, she wouldn't have looked so torn up. I do NOT want he and Yolanda together. Sorry.

So previews show Diego at Chicago...oh this will be good.

So glad for the recap as I completely missed what Diego and Fanny Sr. we're talking about. Thanks, Jardinera!

Can I just say that every time Sebas' hip hop dancing friends come on I feel the need to go watch Quest, Jabbawockeez, Poreotics, and other actual dance crews to get the bad taste of "hip hop" out of my mouth? Come on, there are amazing hip hop dancers all over the world and Televisa couldn't seek any of Mexico's out? It's just embarrassing to watch.

I had a feeling something like this was going to happen with Ximena. It'd be kind of nice if they got to actually know each other and truly fell in love, but I know they're just looking to show that Nando belongs with Alicia's friend.

Thought in an earlier flashback scene she told Diego that she fell in love with Fernando and must have been why she and Fernando married. Still Fernando doesn't have any boundaries, unless they are his.

Watched the episode on Hulu and just watched the previews on TV and noticed that Diego definitely sees and recognizes Anna at Chicago and it seems that he wants to blow the whistle on her to Fer. What's up with that?

Jardinera - Thanks. Didn't catch a lot of this episode but now I feel like I did.

I'm sure Diego believes what he told Ana, but I'm not buying that Fanny Sr. switched to Fer cause he was more stable and fell in love with him after marriage. Could she have been that cold-hearted? If so, Diego should be glad she chose Fer.

I think Diego has a score to settle, he will not forgive and forget and he will use Ana to settle it. He will do what is necessary to have her choose him over his older brother. The game is on.

I want to know who is texting Leon.

Eli, sorry for your computer troubles. I missed over half of this due to cable problems, so really appreciate the summaries. Jardinera and Jarifa, thanks to both of you for filling in on this recap.

I'm not really sorry I missed all the teen angst. Unfortunately, I did see Isabruja wheedling Fer for a church wedding. So she wants a church wedding just to be the focus of all eyes? Yuck.

DaisynJay, totally agree on your take that Fernando is over the line TWICE once because he is jealous over Diego and Ana having COFFEE (granted, it was a romantic candlelight setting in his own house library, exactly where half the kisses between Fer and Ana happened)... and also because Fer has made his bed, (marrying ISa) and now should sleep in it and let Ana go find greener pastures... if it is his own brother, well, that would only be divine justice...

Tofie, I read in the phone the message came from 'Tamara' so I am afraid this is about an ex of Leon's.

So IsaBruja will find a 'rent-me-priest'... how about Nico and Ana planning a stunt on IsaBruja and getting a guy to be a 'fake' priest so the religions wedding IsaBruja thinks she is getting won't be official?? that would be the prank on the witch... no harm done... and there is no permanent religious commitment etched on Fer. He doesn't deserve the help, though... he dug his own hole.

And I agree, Johnny did earn some points (I agree, EcuadorBound)... but Manuela should definitely just go away... and i can't stand the whole hip-hop dancing subplot. And did tell Sebas that she 'knows the streets' and is only trying to protect him by asking him to be careful. She looks like she wants to tell Fer but Sebas says he won't tell his dad, so this put Ana on the fence ('darn if she does [blow the whistle], darn if she doesn't')

Thanks for the "hit all the right notes" recap!!

I don't think Estafania married Fer just for stability. I do think that Diego thinks that is the reason.

Since this show is about Ana and Fer getting together, I do hope they bring someone in for Diego that he can love full heartily.

So the back stories of Xi and Leon are starting to percolate. Hopefully will be interesting.

Nico def thinks something isn't right with Jen, and its not another man.

I agree with Ecuador that Jonny got big points for being tied up and in incredible pain but praying for Jenny. He's an idiot but a sweet one.

Anyone else turned off by Fer holding Ana hostage in the house? What are her hours? She can't leave? Reminding me of LQLVMR.

Previews look tasty with Diego finding out Ana's secret!

Thanks for pinch hitting, jardinera... I loved the same lines everyone else quoted already.
btw the message did say 'my mom just died'.

it is interesting that Bruno said 'think bad and you will be right' (piensa mal y acertaras)... so i expect that somehow at some point Bruno will lose his job at the house... and then we would assume he gets it back by the finale.

Well an ex? gf sending text late at night would explain Leon's facial expression when Fanny said she hopes he never hurts her and if there is a child involved or the ex was a wife or had a child why his mother kept insisting he tell Fanny.

I can't wait for the 'games' to begin where Diego does his best to drive Fernando insane with jealousy... trying to get an eye for an eye... except i can see Ana only letting it go so far.
But Diego is not blind or dumb, he knows Ana has feelings for Fer and that Fer loves her back. So deep inside he knows who already has the winning cards.
I don't see it as Fernando definitely and intentionally stole Fanny Sr from Diego. Maybe Diego had already fallen in love with Fanny Sr and that she knew this (from her sadness at telling him she would marry Fer) but i doubt it was Fer intentionally stealing her... it sounds more like Diego was in love but she was not and then she met Fer (probably Diego brought her to the house himself) and she and Fer fell in love... Fer did tell Bruno last night that he tried to control his feelings (not sure how hard he tried though) before giving in to his feelings for Fanny Sr. So it was definitelly not an intentional blow aimed directly at Diego.

Mystery woman texting Leon is named Tamara. I wonder what their relationship is.

Thanks for the summaries!

Has Isa never seen a novela? Probably not; she's too snooty. If she had, she would know that insisting on a church wedding increases her chance of early death to at least 90%.

Fer was way out of line. Although Diego should have picked some place other than Fer's office. It's almost like he wanted Fer to find them together. Imagine that!

However it happened, who fell for whom, you just don't take (whether it was offered or not) your brother's woman! But we've seen what a weakling Fernando is. Maybe Stefani was a combination of Ana (beautiful, lovable angel) and Isabela (sticky, desperate, pushy devil) and the pushover couldn't resist.

The more scenes with Estafania Sr. the more I realize that painting looks absolutely nothing like her.

Diego didn't pick the office to rub it in Fer's face. Ana told him they would have to have coffee in the house since her "boss" (said sarcastically) was giving her grief about leaving the house. Bruno probably helped him pick the best place that would offer proximity to the kitchen and a modicum of privacy. They should have gone to the party room.

well, the problem is it might not have been 'taking your brother's woman'. If she was not formally Diego's girlfriend and she had never told Diego she loved him romantically, it was not 'taking something that actually belonged to Diego'. It could have been unintentional and Fanny chose Fer over Diego on her own initiative, without ever having promised anything to Diego.

I agree, Anon. Ana did not know it would happen in the 'library' either. she was surprised when Bruno told her that Diego was waiting for her there... but i agree that Diego might have picked the room to rub it in Fer's face.

Julia, I think Diego would have taken Ana out, but she's the one who told him she can't leave the house because she gets yelled at by "her employer". The library seems to be the only room where you can get some privacy. That mansion needs a patio with a nice table and chairs.

Forgot to say, as much as I dislike the bloodied person of Johny being abused on this family hour show ( but no implied sex kiddies), I did give him kudos last night that he thought more of Jen than anything. I don't think of him a a villian, just more like an annoying gnat I want to go away.

In the opening credits, there's that odd girl shown right after Fanny and Leon are dancing around at one point. Never paid her any mind before. Thought at first it was Ximena, but on closer look, no. Is this the secret texter of Leon? I'll go with secret ex-wife even, but please lord, no child.

Daisynjay

Looks like we crossed Anon!

Thanks for your recap Jardinera and Jarifa!!

Thanks too for your recap UA.

I know tns love to got for melodrama but this Diego/Fanny Sr/Fer triangle has gotten messy quickly. Even in the best case scenario, she and Diego casually dated he fell for her and she didn't and then went on to Fer. It's disturbing because of the sibling thing as Daisynjay pointed out.

And then part of last night's story, that she requests that Diego and Fer mend fences. I understand forgiveness but its kind of torture to see the love of your life with your brother. Who would want to see that you aren't the one every time you are around her, even if you did forgive her. I see how once she dies, things could be better but the way Fer is acting, no way.

TNs love to have people not just forgive others but actually almost earn sainthood b/c those wronged are always forced to live with, around, near the person who wounded them.

I had a four day weekend and only got on the computer long enough to post the lists. I did read the recaps and comments on my phone. Thank you Tofie, J in Oregon, Jardinera, and Ecuador Bound for your comments. I really appreciate it.

Ecuador: I make the lists from watching the ep, reading the recaps and the comments. There are times when I think something is a highpoint, for example, and everyone else thinks it’s a low point, so I will put it on the low points list. But every once in awhile there will be something that I just don’t want to switch. So I pull an author’s privilege and put it where I want it. ☺ That’s the case with Xi/Nando. I know the majority don’t care for it and think she’s up to something, but I think they’re cute together, and from her thought bubble before the party about not wanting to be attracted to him, makes me think she’s sincere. I don’t think it will last. I think she may be too old for Nando, but I think Briana is too young. If they don’t introduce someone his age that has the attributes he likes about Xi and Briana, and it ends up between those two, I don’t know whom I would choose. We haven’t seen enough of Briana yet.

Thanks to Jardinera and UA for the always awesome recaps. I haven’t read the recap for last night's ep yet--which I decided not to watch last night. Looking forward to it.

Nanette

Just read the recap. Thanks Jardinera. Can't wait to see the ep tonight and tonight's ep. Diego might just turn out to be a bit of a skunk.

I'm wondering if Tamara's mother was the obstacle between her and Leon and now that she's dead Tamara intends on being with Leon.

I think Johnny has a thing for Jen. Ana is just an obsession right now.

That house is huge. Diego could have found some other place, especially since I think most of the kids were in bed by then. The party room, the dining room, I think there is in fact a table in the garden. There are probably more rooms we haven't even seen. The coffee date didn't have to be in the one room where Fer always hangs out.

Did Fer actually tell Ana she couldn't leave? I thought she simply felt she was pushing her limits with the number of times she's taken off when Jen was upset or when she had to go to Chicago. Plus, she didn't really want to go out with Diego, so she wanted an excuse. I don't think Fer is trying to keep her locked up there at all. The social/romantic boundaries he's trying to put on her are another matter.

And Fer should just flat out refuse the church wedding. Tell her you're a devout atheist, tell her you've converted to Islam or Zoroastrianism or something, just say NO, tell her you're traumatized by Catholic churches, anything. Of course, Fer is such a weenie pushover, I'm sure he'll find himself getting married in a church in front of God and thousands of everybody. I hope it's a trainwreck. But who are they going to get to do the coins and the lasso and rings if everyone is opposed to the wedding? It would be funny if the priest asked if anyone has any reason they should not marry and all the kids simultaneously spoke up and aired their grievances. Then Isa would be really glad she wanted a big church wedding!

Thanks for the bullet points Jardinera, they were very thorough and I can't think of much that was missed.

Diego, it's been 22 years, I think you could have gotten over the love of your life in that much time. She found someone who suited her better, they had 7 children and they were obviously happy together, she felt like she made the right decision, then she died. It's ridiculous that Diego is still harboring resentment this long afterward.
I agree that Fernando shouldn't try to keep Diego from pursuing Ana, but he is in love with her and we can't expect him to get over that after only a week. But a church wedding? Fernando, don't be stupid. You already turned down her first proposal of marriage, tell her that you're marrying her for the child and not for loving her.

Mystery woman. If he did have a relationship with her, I can't imagine he has a child with this woman because he would have stuck with her, or at least stuck with a relationship with his own child.

Why does Jen have to do this? I hate when they don't tell them the truth. It's not like she was going to have kids with Nico anyway, I hope! But this does leave the door open for YoMama.

Nico would have to be crazy to get with Yomama, Jen or no Jen. He can do so much better!

If Leon did have a kid, that would set up some conflict with Fer. Right now, Fer likes and respects him. But if it turned out that Leon has a child and didn't marry/stay with the mother and child, Fer would definitely not approve. But it's hard to imagine Leon deliberately not being with his own child. Maybe he has one he doesn't know about? But then what would be the secret his mother thinks he needs to tell? That he has a stalker ex?

And yes, Fer should definitely stop playing along and be clear with Isa that he doesn't love her and is ONLY marrying her because of the baby and they will not be doing the church thing or acting romantic about it! While he is at it, he should also be clear that they will have bienes separados and she isn't getting all his money. And they will not be sharing a bedroom or having cositas.

Julia, unfortunately, Fernando doesn't seem to have much backbone when it comes to Isabela.

We need to get Luz working on him. We know she's his weakness.

But you're right. Fer will probably somehow find himself married in the church, taking a one-month romantic honeymoon with cositas twice a day, sending his children to boarding school, buying and staffing a mansion for Yomama, and signing a new will that leaves everything to Isa. Why can't he stand up to her ever?

Thanks Jarifa for your contribution to the recap.

I'm wondering if Fer is desperately hoping that love will grow.

Eww!!

Maybe he will. We just have to wait. We know that he ends up with Ana, so stuff has to happen. I doubt she's going to die first.

Someone mentioned that Diego sees Ana in the cloob dancing and he threatens to tell Fernando. (just a note, I called that one). Anyway, I can see why he would want to, she's his brother's nanny and although he called her out on being uneducated for the job, he let it slide. But seeing her pole dancing for a living would have to make him question her properness as the one who takes care of the children. I would too.

Cathyx: I knew someone from my neighborhood (small town) who had broken up with her boyfriend in high school and another neighbor girl started dating him. Twenty plus years later, she still wasn't talking to her.

Great work on this.

Someone (like Nick or Bruno) should tell Fernando he needs to see his lawyer ASAP regarding a pre-nup. Isabully could beat him to the punch on this and he could end up signing away his children's inheritances if someone doesn't look out for their -- and his -- best interests.

Diego possibly planned the encounter in the library as a slap in the face to Fernando, but how does he know that Fernando always hangs out there if he's been mostly not home for 22 years?

And yes, he should have gotten over Fanny long before then. I also think that she fell for Fernando and loved him on their wedding day. She was a loving mother to their children.

What is bothering me right now is the possibility that Diego had anything to do with her death.

Hello, haven't had a chance to comment these days, but have been keeping up with all the recaps and comments. Thanks to the recappers of the previous nights and to Jardinera for your bullet points. You didn't miss a thing and still managed to put in your sense of humor. I enjoyed the line about the hip-hop gang "yeah, the kids who all look like they’ve got ants in their pants every time they turn on their master blaste"-LOL!
Personally, I think Ana is right to be concerned. Sebas is too young to be hanging out and exchanging phone numbers with such older kids.

As for Fernando, Cathyx, I agree with you. Can't understand why Fernando doesn't tell Isa that he doesn't love her and is only marrying her so that his kid could be part of a family. And Urban, I was also wondering when someone would bring up a pre-nup. Not even Nico likes Isa, being a savy business man, I think it should come from him.

And not to defend Fer, but I too understood that Fanny Sr. loved him and chose to be with him instead of Diego. When she asked Diego to forgive, was when she was already terminal. Diego told Ana, that Fanny's last wish was for Fer and Diego to make amends and be a family once again. So I do see her as the positive mom and wife that her family dearly remembers.

She died just one year ago so it took her 20 years to ask Diego to reconcile with his brother? Seems like she should have been the catalyst years ago.

And we don't know yet what Diego and Fanny's relationship was when she met Fer. They could have been boyfriend and girlfriend and Fer came along and she fell for him, though with someone else.

Jardinera in top form! Thanks for the always enjoyable recap!
Now call me crazy but...

The timing is close, could Fanny be Diego's daughter?

Why have we seen Bruno secretly shuffling a deck of cards when nobody is watching? Nervous habit? OR something more sinister?

Will Jenny end up with Johnny?

Just thinking out loud...

She may have tried to get them to reconcile a number of times over the years, but when she was terminal felt it was her last chance and maybe they would finally listen when it's her last dying wish.

So Ximena was so worked up by seeing Briana kiss Nando that she was ill and had to take a nap in Fancy's bed? She needs therapy more than she needs a novio. Sounds like her family life is pretty rough, but hopping from one bed to the next and then clinging desperately to a guy she barely knows just because he says he loves her (without knowing her at all) even after she treats him terribly is not much of a solution.

I, too, wondered if Fanny the elder might have been already pregnant when she jumped ship to Fer, but they've said that drama and the wedding went down 22 years ago, and Fanny the younger is only 19. Did I hear the 22 years correctly? It seems like that was stated a few times.

J in Oregon- I've never noticed Bruno with the cards, but that's interesting. He does leave at night all dressed up in a tux. If he's not a player, he could be a dealer.

I think Bruno has a gambling problem since we've heard sneaky calls about not having the money, and he worries that he hasn't made enough of a financial success of himself.

Julia, I thought Fanny was 19 too but then last night Alicia told her friend that Nando was 19, at least that was how I translated. And now they've moved the timeline from 20 years to 22 years. I'm wondering if the plot wasn't working with the ages and now the writers are surrepticiously trying to move the kids older, i.e. Fanny is now 21.

Well, that's annoying if they are suddenly revising the ages when it's been specifically stated before. I thought Nando was still in prepa. As a super serious good student, he shouldn't be if he's 19.

Julia, I think you're right on both counts. I also heard 22 years and I also think that Bruno has a gambling problem.

Now what kind of coincidence would it be if he owes money to Doroteo or someone associated with him?

No. What she said was Ximena was 19, an older woman. Fernando is 17, and Alicia's friend is 15.

Oh, good. That makes more sense. I did like the conversation Fanny had with Nando, asking how he can think he's so in love with Xime when he doesn't know her at all, and vice versa. But she should listen to herself a bit and ask just how much she knows about Leon.

J in Oregon - I also wondered about Fanny being Diego's daughter! Hmmmmm...

I have seen Bruno twice handle a deck of cards as deftly as a Vegas dealer.

It was just like our conversations about them. How can they fall in love so quickly without even seeing each other face to face more than a half dozen times. Nico and Jen were discussed, among others.

UA: why do you think there's something sinister about Fanny Sr.'s death?

Urban and Ecuador Bound, good thinking on Bruno and the cards being a sign of some sort of gambling problem. Especially with the mysterious phone calls about him owing money. When I first saw him doing the card trick, I thought he was into magic, lol! Since my kids have a similar trick in their magic kit. I guess gambling seems to fit the hints a bit better.

I was trying to think why I never noticed him with the cards and realized it's because I always fast forward his scenes, lol.

Nanette, remember the flashback to when Luz found her on the bedroom floor? There was a framed photo about four feet away in the middle of the room. There was no reason for it to be there on the floor and the protective glass was cracked. It could have been Death by Misadventure, as the Brits say.
