Hasta el Fin del Mundo #16 9/8/14 Silvana makes her move

Hello Everyone! Before we get to the recap I thought I'd share something cute:

A couple of years ago two peacocks and a peahen showed up on my farm. We think they saw the chickens and the ducks, thought the place looked good and decided to stay. Last year the peahen hatched 5 chicks. As soon as the babies appeared the two peacocks took off and we haven't seen them since. I guess peacocks are deadbeat dads. This past June, the peahen laid 6 eggs. Since there were no males around the eggs weren't fertile. She sat on that nest of eggs for weeks and weeks! I thought she would eventually give up, but she never did. I felt sorry for her, so one day when she was off the nest eating, I slipped in three duck eggs. Even though she had already been there for weeks she stayed on the nest for another month and hatched two ducklings! Unfortunately she lost one of them but she is raising the other one and it is doing just fine. She must wonder why her baby likes to hang around the water dish and the duckling must wonder why mom roosts at night instead of laying on the ground. But they are cute together and lots of fun to watch.

On to the recap!

From Friday:
Chava talks to Sofia after Alexa's meltdown.
Irma tells Lupe' she's leaving Armando and taking Nandito with her.
Armando talks to Alexa in the car.
Silvana arrives at Pato's Playhouse. Her shirt arrives moments later.

The New Stuff:
At the Ripoll mansion Chava is trying to comfort Sofia, "If you ever need a friendly shoulder to cry on, use mine. You can count on me." They are very close. They gaze at each other for a long, long moment.

The sweet tension builds, then Sofia turns away. Chava clears his throat. "Are you feeling better?"
Sofia nods.

She asks for some tea. Chava will get it for her. He gets close again and tells her not to feel guilty about the fight with Alexa. He walks to the door and turns. They gaze at each other for another long moment. He gives a little wave and promises to be right back.

At Pato's Playhouse, Pato and Silvana are groping and kissing on the sofa. "Let's go get your glass." He carries her to the bedroom. The door closes. We see an uneaten plate of food next to the champagne and candles on the coffee table.

Alexa and Armie eat pie in the Rolls Royce. She smiles, "This is good pie." He likes it too, along with music and beautiful evenings. He asks Alexa what would make her happy. "A family that understands me."
"Do you understand yourself?"
"No. If I was watching myself I'd think 'this girl is crazy'."
"Then how can you expect your family to understand something that you can't understand yourself?"

Greta talks to Fausto in her studio. She is beside herself over the fight between Alexa and Sofia. Greta knows she made mistakes but she doesn't have time to delve into the past. She needs an immediate solution to the problems between her daughters.

I need a solution and I need it NOW, damn it!

She asks Fausto what she should do. He doesn't have a quick solution. "Then they'll just have to do as I say - and that's it!" Fausto tells her the story of his past. He and his father had huge fights because his father didn't understand him. His father became a tyrant trying to force Fausto to be someone he was not. Fausto rebelled and left the house. He never spoke to his father again. "I don't think you want that for you and your girls. Talk to them. Then listen to them."

In the study, Sofia remembers the close moment with Chava, "I've never felt such tenderness from Patricio." She remembers her mother's words, "You're not in love with that ambitious Patricio." Sofia puts her hands to her face and shakes her head.

Salvador is sweet and tender... so why am I with Patricio again?

Dani and Miguelita cry together over Lucas being arrested. Miguelita has to go and see what she can do for him. Dani offers to go with her. "No. You can't go. I'll get fired if your mother finds out. I know Lucas wouldn't do anything bad." Dani tells her to call if she needs anything but doesn't say a word about his thievery.

Chava fixes tea and remembers his close moment with Sofia. He chides himself, "Chava! Chava! Chava! What are you thinking? A woman like her would never fall for you. Am I imagining it, or did she feel something too? No! No! This relationship can only exist in your head!" The whistle of the tea kettle brings him back to reality.

I'm into her.. is she into me?

Dani cries in her bedroom. She goes to her closet and brings out the striped dress. "Just when I was going to do something to help you." She collapses onto her bed and cries into its folds.

Chava readies a tea tray. Miguelita comes into the kitchen on her way out. Chava sees her tears. "What's wrong?"
"Nothing."
He helps her into a chair. "You're crying. It can't be nothing."
She tells him that her grandson is in the hoosegow and she needs to go. Chava offers to go with her. She tells him that isn't necessary, she doesn't want anyone in the house to find out about this. He makes her promise to call him if she needs anything. Miguelita leaves for the jail and he picks up the tea tray.

Irma's bags are packed; she's leaving Armando and taking her son with her. Lupe tries to reason with her, "You're angry and you're not thinking straight." Nandito doesn't want to go. He is heartbroken at the idea of leaving his papa. Irma snaps, "You're going to do what I tell you!" Lupe' comforts him and sends him to his room. Lupe' warns Irma not to leave like this. "Nandito will suffer because of your problems. He'll end up hating his dad. Look at Chava and how much he hates his dad."

Sofia sips her tea, "It's delicious." Chava made it with a lot of love. He gets embarrassed and backtracks, "Well, I put a lot of love in everything I do." He stumbles through an explanation of what he meant. Sofia apologizes to Chava for the big fight he and Armando witnessed. Chava doesn't want her to worry. He and Armando are good friends and neither of them will be blabbing the Ripoll family's problems to anyone. He zips his lips for good measure.

Sofia is worried about Alexa. She wonders how Alexa's money problems turned into a declaration of war against her. They talk about their sisters. Chava reassures her that, with time, things will work out between her and Alexa.

Back at the car, Armie makes the observation that all of Alexa's good memories as a child seem to be connected with the car. Alexa agrees, her happiest times were in the car. "Since my father died nothing good has happened in my life." He asks her about her time in Spain. "Don't you have any good memories of that?" She shrugs.

Irma tells Lupe' that she and Armie argue all the time. It's getting worse and worse. Lupe' urges her not to give up. "It's tough to raise kids alone. I should know. I raised two by myself. Even with Chava helping, it was hard."
"Armando isn't irresponsible like Javier."
Lupe' warns Irma about her jealousy. "Don't let it get the better of you."
Irma fires back, "Women know when a guy is cheating on them!"

Armie asks if it's possible that Alexa has a mental problem. (I'm sorry. You need to ask??) She admits she suffers from panic attacks. He thinks that maybe it's some unknown fear. Armie's phone rings. He checks the number and sees the call is from home. "Irma, whatever you want to yell at me for..." Lupe' whispers, "It's not Irma, it's me, Lupe'! Irma is planning on leaving and taking your son with her." Armie hangs up and tells Alexa he's sorry, he has to go.

Miguelita is given two minutes for her visit. She cries at the sight of Lucas behind bars. She wants to know what she can do to help him. "I told you not to come here. I'll deal with this myself." He asks her to forgive him. She is devastated by his admission. "No, Lucas! Why? Why did you do it?"
"Because it was easy."
She sobs, "So stealing is how you support me? I am so ashamed."

Fausto waves an embroidered hankie over Dani's head. Dani claims she's crying because of the fighting between her sisters. Fausto pulls the dress from the bed. "I think this is connected to your tears." Dani drops her head. "Your silence confirms it." Fausto softens, "If you need help, consult me."

Migeulita is still trying to understand, "I thought you were innocent. but you're guilty!" She blames herself for not raising Lucas right. She walks away sobbing. Lucas calls after her but she leaves and never looks back. Lucas drops to the floor sobbing, "Abuelita... Abuelita."

You rotten kid. Now the whole blog hates you.

Chava sits in the study and pages though a coffee table book on chocolate. Sofia has changed into her work clothes. She wants to go back to work.

Back at Pato's Playhouse, Silvana lets out a satisfied sigh as she saunters out of the bedroom in Pato's shirt. She pours herself a glass of water and spies Pato's laptop on the desk. It seems she cannot resist snooping. She sits down, opens the computer and sees the animation of Peralta's high rise development.

Sofia and Chava arrive at the factory. She likes to come and visit the night shift workers every couple of weeks to give them birthday greetings or congratulate those who have new babies. A security guard greets them and hands Sofia a clipboard and Chava a uniform wrapped in a plastic bag. Sofia points, "The men's changing room is over there."

Lupe' meets Armie at the front door. She tells him not to lose his patience with Irma and wishes him luck. (He will need it.) He thanks Lupe' for calling him as she leaves for home. Irma comes out from the bedroom her voice dripping with sarcasm, "Well, look who's here. The Man of the House." Armie yells, "What's your deal anyway?"

In the dark Silvana whispers, "So this is Patricio's big secret. A development on the site of the factory!" Her excitement is short-lived. Pato grabs her from behind in a headlock. "What are you doing? What did you see? Answer me! Answer me!! (Dude, she can't answer when you're choking her!) Silvana struggles to get free. In the middle of the scuffle the doorbell rings. Pato covers Silvana's mouth with his hand to muffle her screams.

A simple "Get off my computer!" would have sufficed.

Sofia and Chava tour the factory. We see how cocoa beans are ground and mixed with the other ingredients. A machine squirts out chocolate into the disk molds, the chocolate discs roll along the conveyor belt, the disks are wrapped and packaged and the packages put into shipping boxes. Sofia explains it all and Chava admiringly watches her interact with the workers.

The wrestling match between Pato and Silvana quickly stops. Pato calls out, "Who is it?" while Silvana slaps his arm repeatedly to get him to let her go. It's Greta. She demands he open the door at once! Pato loosens his grip on Silvana and she calls him an imbecile. "If I wanted to scream I would." Silvana tells Pato to stall. He yells toward the door, "Just give me a minute." Silvana dashes to the living room and grabs her purse. She hands Pato his shirt before going into the bedroom and shutting the door. Pato pulls the shirt on and buttons his pants. He opens the door and Greta storms into the room. "Greta! What a surprise! What are you doing at my apartment at this late hour? Is there some kind of emergency?" Greta spits like an angry cat, "You're despicable! Garbage!"

More chocolate factory tour. Sofia apologizes for making Chava work late. He thinks it was fun. Besides, all the good smells have made him hungry. He tells Sofia he's taking her to dinner.

Pato talks to Greta as he picks couch pillows up from the floor. (Yes, he really does that! So let's review - lots of candles burning, couch pillows on the floor, champagne on ice - what doesn't look suspicious in this room? Yet Greta doesn't notice any of it.)

Pillows on the floor, candles, champagne...
that Greta doesn't miss a thing.

Pato is sorry, but even though he is the factory's CFO he can't give Alexa money without telling Sofia. "So I offered Alexa the job as the Ripoll Girl and she accepted." On the other side of the bedroom door Silvana listens in and types something into her phone.

Greta thinks that Sofia was in cahoots with Pato but he insists that the job offer to Alexa was his idea alone. "I would never do anything behind Sofia's back!" (Like bed her assistant...) "I'm loyal!" (As loyal as a stray tomcat.) Greta shouts, "Alexa will never be the Ripoll Girl! I've never liked you and I'm warning you, now I'm your enemy!" Greta storms out. Silvana finishes dressing and comes out from the bedroom. She applauds his great performance. "I could have ratted you out but I didn't. I'm on your side." She goes to the door. Pato yells, "You're not leaving!" He grabs her.
"Let go of me! You can't stop me!"
"What are you going to do? Hit me with your phone?"
Silvana's eyes narrow, "Do you think I'm stupid, Patricio? While you were talking with the Queen Mother I was writing an e-mail to Sofia telling her who you really are. All I have to do is hit send." Silvana opens the door but Pato slams it shut and pushes her against the door, groping and kissing her. She doesn't fight back.

From the bedroom, to the door, then back to the bedroom.

Armie can't take Irma's jealousy anymore. She reminds him he didn't really want to be a chauffeur but now he seems to enjoy driving that brainless little model around. He insists that there is nothing between Alexa and him. "What I love most is here. You and my son are my family. Don't you understand? Don't try to take my son away from me."

Alexa and Dani talk in the bedroom. "Since you returned there hasn't been a single day of peace in this house." Alexa isn't going to give in to Sofia. Dani asks, "Are you really going to be the Ripoll Girl again?" Alexa remembers Armie telling her, "Lots of famous actresses sell perfume and shampoo." Alexa thinks maybe she can do it. She and Dani hug to celebrate the great comeback of the Ripoll Girl.

Lupe' arrives home and calls to Marisol and Chava but the house is empty. She spots the gifts that the union rep gave to Marisol. She picks up the agave syrup, "Mariachi Sun! No way! Javier Cruz was here!"

Pato and Silvana talk in bed. If it's the message on her phone he's worried about she'll delete it. She picks up her phone and deletes the message.
"Why did you look at my computer?"
"Feminine curiosity."
Silvana thinks Peralta's development is a great plan, especially the part that involves the factory. "The Magnus District. I want a penthouse in that development. In your position you can bankrupt the company and Sofia will have to sell." Pato is confused. He thought Silvana was Sofia's best friend. "Haven't you realized it yet? I hate Sofia Ripoll."

Silvana loves the moobs but hates Sofia.

Paco is having coffee at Cuco's Place when Chava and Sofia stop for in. Chava tells her the food is good, especially the 'elephant ears'! Sofia spots Paco at the counter and he turns and sees her. They stare at each other. Clearly Paco makes her nervous. Chava notices and offers to take Sofia someplace else. Paco gets up from his seat and heads for the door. As he passes by their table Sofia calls, "Wait. I'd like to talk to you."
He stops, but just turns his head to answer. "I'm sorry. You and I have nothing to talk about."

Paco is his usual charming self.

Silvana talks about Sofia and how her Queen Mother raised her as some kind of Princess. At first Silvana liked her job, but then Sofia started being condescending and putting on airs. "I wonder what Octavio Ripoll was like? Was he as good and honest as they tell us he was?" Pato asks, "Do you really hate Sofia?"

End of episode.

xlnt, thnk you for your most excellent illustrated recap. I also enjoyed your peahen/ duck story.

Wow! We have a kinky duo there with Silvana and Pato. A little choking as foreplay?

I loved the scenes with Sofía and Chava.

So, Armando did crawl in the car to eat his pie with Alexa.

Xint, this was outstanding.

Loved the picture of the peahen and duckling. What a great story! How kind you were to do that – seems as though mother and child are flourishing…

“Silvana arrives at Pato's Playhouse. Her shirt arrives moments later” was perfection and my favorite line. “ Armie asks if it's possible that Alexa has a mental problem. (I'm sorry. You need to ask??)” and “You rotten kid. Now the whole blog hates you” were simply great. as well.

Sil and Pato deserve each other. Wired together by hate and greed. Unfortunately, she is very intelligent which does not bode well for Sophia or Ripoli.

I also shook my head that Greta seemed to take no notice of the blatant seduction scene. Well at least she had but one purpose - to berate Pato...I would not like to have her as an enemy.

Is Irma threatening just to get attention? It's hard to tell. Her anger and screeching are hard to bear. My heart broke for Nandito as well as for Miguelita. Both having very bad days...

I'm glad Fausto is there for Dani. She seems sweet and unspoiled amidst the madness.

Xint, your screen shots and recap were excellent and greatly appreciated.

Diana

What's Paco's big secret and why was he starring at Sofia ?

xInt:

Thank you so much for this sparkling recap, from the peahen story to these screenshots, marvelous and thank you!

Pato and Silvie are sure made for each other. I wonder if Silvie really hates Sofia that much or is fishing for information to find out what else is up Pato's sleeve. I liked your name for Pato's place, Pato's Playhouse.

Like Diana, I can't take Irma's shrieking. She is way over the top jealous. I still think that Armie is trying to be a friend to Alexa. I think Irma is using Nandito, cause she knows how much Armie loves him, to threaten to leave Armie is hurting both Nadito and Armie. I really think Irma is all about herself.

So I wonder if Greta did notice but will process it later, the candles, pillows on the floor, the food.

I'm glad we know a bit more about Fausto. I like what he said to Dani too. He is always there for all of them. How sweet this man is.

My heart was breaking for Miguelita. I wonder if Lucas is regretting what he has done. He could see the effect what he did brought his Granny to tears. Now maybe he will spill the beans to the Commandante.

How cute were Sofia and Chava at Cuco's. Elephant ears are wonderful, cinnamoney and rich and decadent, what a wonderful pastry. I like how Sofia tried to talk to Paco but he was being his usual rude self. One day I hope she corners him and he talks.

Thanks again xInt for this simply marvelous recap and the captions under the screenshots.

Cathy- I loved this recap. You had me chuckling from the beginning, with the line about Silvi's shirt. Ha!

Is it wrong that I was hoping that Pato DOES blackmail Greta and make her suffer? It wasn't just her imperious attitude towards him, but also that she accused Sofia of being in league with him to make her precious Alexa suffer (by offering her a job, the horrors!). It's like she doesn't know Sofia at all. Meanwhile, she doesn't really question how Alexa got into such major debt in Spain.

I loved Arnie pointing out to Alexa that she can't expect her family to understand her if she doesn't even understand herself. But I really wish he had a greater sense of urgency about going home to fix his family situation. Did he really need Lupe calling him to tell him Irma was about to leave with their kid, for him to realize it was time for him to go home? He was off the clock long before that.

I got the feeling Silvana was asking about Octavio because it's tied to her mother's death somehow. I think she has been waiting years to take revenge on that family, and it's not Sofia per se that she's gunning for.

Steve- We are pretty sure that Paco is Sofia's bio-dad. We don't know if he knows that. If he doesn't, he certainly knows that Greta popped out a baby with Octavio pretty much right away after she dumped him, and he probably feels Greta was stepping out on him with Octavio and got pregnant when they were together. In any case, seeing Sofia has got to be a big old reminder of all that betrayal, both professional (Octavio and Coria stealing his recipes and pushing him out of Ripoll), and personal (Greta dumping him for Octavio and having a kid with him immediately).

Can we just put Irma in the Antagonist category of this TN?

I don't think she's done yet of hurting Armie.

Vivi, my feelings exactly about Armando and his lack of a sense of urgency to fix things in his own home. Great comment about him being off the clock. Maybe he is the "dallying" type . . . and the "piece of pie to take away the pain" is his MO. LOL

Jarifa

Vivi, I also get the feeling that Octavio and Silvana's mother are somehow tied together. I wonder if Sil's mother was having an affair with Octavio or if she knew that Octavio and Coria stole Paco's chocolate formulas.

It really angers me the way the whole Ripoll family seems to tag-team hating and blaming Sofia. It's not like the rest of them get off their arses and go to work. Good grief.

x-Int:

It is so true what you say about the Ripoll familia, they constantly dump on Sofia. And none of them work, but Fausto. I know he isn't a Ripoll, but he is part of the familia. Oh, and I love how Sofia worked on the assembly line at the factory. I wish she'd take a good look at Mattias and train him to be the next Maestro. He's got most of it down already, I would love for him to come up with another unique chocolate without the stolen recipe book!

What a great recap, xint. Well done complete with carefully selected illustrations and clever captions.

"A simple "Get off my computer!" would have sufficed."

Heh. Just recently I was saying that Pato was a refreshing almost lovable villain for a change, and now he goes and pounces on poor Silvana and puts a choke hold on her (although she really didn't seem to mind all that much). He at least set the scene and I love their sultry musical theme... what a contrast with the dorky cloying mood music selected for Sofía and Chava.

I want so much to like Irma (we have a history), but bless her heart, she could really benefit from a low-dose of Xanax. She certainly has reason to fret over Alexa, but she is definitely not helping her cause with her shrill accusations.

Speaking of medication, a bit of Paxil might do wonders for Alexa.

Carlos

Xlnt – What an adorable peahen story! Thanks for sharing the photo of mother and child. Loved the recap too. My favorite: Silvana arrives at Pato's Playhouse. Her shirt arrives moments later.

I too doubt that Silvana really hates Sofia. I get the feeling she's after revenge for her mother's violent death and thinks the older Ripolls (Octavio, Greta) had something to do with it. Interestingly, Silvana seemed to be okay with Maestro Coria.

Armando's women just don't move me. But Irma is his common-law wife and mother of his child and that angry yelling is a cry for help. She feels that Armando doesn't love her, and I think she's right. She wants a little taming of the shrew, but all he does is fuss right back and say she's not taking his son.

Now I see why Greta doesn't get a shrink for Alexa. She needs to get one for herself first. She's mad at Pato cause he wouldn't divert money from Ripoll and give it to Alexa, which would be stealing. She seems to have misplaced anger for Sofia. Is she taking out her hatred for Octavio or Paco on Sofia? Vivi, I hope Pato blackmails her smug butt too.

Adorable story about the peahen and such. :) I also enjoyed the recap.

I am upset that Armando would go out of his way to bring Alexa pie and engage in personal/intimate conversations with her. Alexa is spoiled and entitled! I wish Armando would treat Irma the same way he treats Alexa. Both of those women are in need of counseling. I do not blame Irma for wanting to leave.

Your screen shots are so funny.

Cynderella
