La Malquerida #8: 9/3/14: We Got Trouble With a Capital T, That Rhymes With P and That Stands For Pool!

Hola Amiguis! Darn the mini pie cart didn't quite take Danilo out, more's the pity. The title for this recap is taken from the Music Man, and so is the earworm I have put up. Enjoy the earworm. Ya Got Trouble
Shall we begin?

Acacia and Esteban are still discussing El Rubio and why Esteban didn't fire him. Acacia will not have a man working on the Hacienda that abuses woman. Esteban wants to hear from Luisa and Alejandra to get the full story.

Norberto and Juliana are talking about Manuel and Acacia.Juliana tells Norberto she went to the hospital and spoke with Cris and Juliana thinks there is some type of inheritance that wasn't managed well with Alejandra, Juliana is under this impression.

Luisa bring coffee to Esteban and Acacia. Esteban asks her if El Rubio asked her to marry him? Is it true? Yes, but she so doesn't want to marry him, please don't make her! He tells her not to worry and now Esteban wants a word with Alejandra. Acacia understands why. Luisa and Acacia tell Alejandra what happened and want her to tell Esteban what happened. Alejandra does and Acacia tells Esteban that's it, he's gotta go.

Manuel has got something for Acacia and hides it, German takes a look and is gonna snazz it up.

Danilo is having a pity party for one. The Doc wants him to calm down as does Perla. Why is Danilo so upset? Cause he will be limping or lame the rest of his life! This is all Turquesa's fault, he hates her and she is gonna die for what she did to him. The Mafia guy comes for another visit while Danilo is having his little pity party. Danilo says he can't move his knee and it's not right. Well that's what you get the Mafia guys tells him for cheating the boss.

Cris and Rosa are having a convo. Cris is being released from the hospital and Rosa tells her to get her strength back and to be calm. Cris thanks Rosa for all of her help.

Esteban has another little chat with El Rubio and tells him to lay off of Luisa. One day Acacia will be in charge of this whole Hacienda so he better tow the line and quit bothering the women.

Later, Luisa is about to hang the laundry when El Rubio doesn't listen and she ends up telling him to leave her alone and goes in the house with the laundry.

Perla brings Danilo food, he really doesn't want. He throws the tray at her and spills it all over her. He'd rather have the bottle in his hand. After Perla goes, Danilo has a set of crutches, gets out of the bed and grabs his money. Perla comes and he says they are getting out of there. Enough is enough. He's leaving the bidnez for now and his knee is killing him.

Alejandra and Luisa have a chat. She is moving to the Palacios (Norberto's Finca).

Cris comes home from the hospital and is very happy. Acacia tells her that all the flowers about are from Esteban. He tells Cris he has missed her, and they smooch.

El Rubio is in town when he runs into, Danilo. Seems they know each other, oh, hellz noes! From back in the day. Notice the slime trail leading up to their table. They are in a cantina with a pool table.

Manuel has brought Acacia a little present. She protests it isn't her birthday. We finally see what it is, it's a saddle for Palomina her horse and we see Acacia's name in gold paint, touch of German I would say. She loves it. At this point he declares his love for her and lays a liplock on her.Acacia has news for him, he likes him as a friend, like a brother even, but love, nah, not so much, and Manuel is confused. Besides she already has a novio. Manuel demands to know who the novio is, does he know him? He lives in San Jacinto and Manuel swears he will never forgive her.

El Rubio and Danilo are having a chin wag and something about the police. Perla goes and Danilo tells El Rubio he lost his bidnez due to a woman and she's gonna pay.

Alejandra, so unaware, is making copies and the printer isn't working. German to the rescue. There was a paper jam, and Alejandra is still wearing that turqoise ring. German is going on an outing to the arroyo with Manuel and Acacia would Alejandra want to go? Manuel ends up calling German and tells him the outing has been cancelled. They can always go another day. German tells Ale the outing has been cancelled and she is going to move into the little cottage at the Finca. He offers his help to shclepp her things from the Hacienda and off they go.

Acacia runs and tells Cris what just happened with Manuel. Poor Cris, just out of the hospital and should be resting. Cris tells her to talk to Manuel again, once he calms down. Acacia wishes that Manuel would see how Luisa really loves him.

Manuel is pithed and ends up at the Cantina and wants to play pool. El Rubio is still there and his cousin comes and greets him and goes into the pool table part. Manuel wants to play pool with him and it's for money.

Acacia has called Ulises and told him the trip was cancelled. Luisa understands and Ulises comes to the Hacienda.

Rosa talks to Luisa, she so wanted help with Manuel. Rosa is still of the mind that Luisa is the servant and Manuel a patron and it' s never going to happen. Luisa just wants her support. All Rosa wants is for Luisa to be happy.

Ulises and Acacia make out.

El Rubio tells Danilo about his all important job as the captaz at the Hacienda and he works for Esteban Dominquez.

Manuel is playing pool with El Rubio's cousin. Manuel has lost and wants a rematch. Manuel has to go get some money, I think, he owes El Rubio's cousin 5000 pesos. El Rubio's cousin proceeds to give Manuel a beatdown. El Rubio doesn't do a thing to stop it and the barkeep finally says he is calling the cops. He pulls El Rubio's cousin off of Manuel, who is in the hurt locker. El Rubio picks Manuel up off the floor and tells him to go home.

Alejandra has come to tell Cris and Esteban she is moving over to Norberto's Finca and thanks them for taking her in and putting her up and for Acacia's help. Cris tells Alejandra the door is always open if she would want to come back.

Acacia tells Ulises what happened with Manuel. Acacia tells Ulises she has known Manuel from the time they were born. They kiss and Manuel calls Acacia who doesn't pick up.

Cris explains to Esteban what happened with Manuel. Esteban is a might perturbed let's say. He says Manuel is a good for nothing. He doesn't work, just lazes about. He is Norberto's son after all and is just like him, unlike German who actually works.Cris says besides Acacia already has a novio and to give Ulises a chance, remember the promise Esteban made to get along and he kisses Cris.

Ulises and Acacia declare their love for each other. They te amo each other, but Manuel is there and sees this little tableau. He is not pleased. Acacia goes off and Manuel starts the beatdown of Ulises. You were my friend. It goes something like this you stole my girl, no I didn't she doesn't love you and smack, smack, smack. We'll get back to them in a tic.

Acacia is with Luisa who is feeling betrayed because Manuel kissed Acacia. Luisa gets it, Acacia is the Patrona and Luisa is the servant.

In the meantime, Juliana is at the Hacienda and screams for help and breaks up the fight. Luisa and Acacia come running. Acacia is pithed cause Juliana says that Ulises started this fight and he says he didn't that Manuel did. Acacia throws Ulises out and Luisa is trying to minister to Manuel, when Juliana gives her the stink eye. Manuel tells Juliana that Ulises is Acacia's novio, well that just can't be. Cris comes to try and calm the water, poor woman, no rest for the weary. Cris tells Juliana to take a chill pill.

Alejandra is moving into the cottage and German wants to know more about her. Where did she meet Acacia? Oh, in San Jacinto. What is this? Twenty Questions? Well not really, but you get the drift. He knows she is not going to answer him, so he'll go schlepp more boxes from the Hacienda and he'll be back.

Esteban has met up with Ulises and tells him to get out. He opened the doors of the Hacienda to him and look how it turned out.

Good Morning Y'all,

Please discuss away. The recap should be up shortly.

OK Madelaine, you have me laughing away already. Love the Music Man - what a terrific earworm.

I sheepishly admit that I simply was unable to stay awake through much of this. To my utter disgust, the few times I managed to pry my eyes open, Danilo was on the screen! Talk about a nightmare. Instead of being a sight for sore eyes, he made my eyes sore. Ack.

I did see a few fisticuffs toward the end and am eager to see you sort all of this out. Really looking forward to your recap!

Diana

The recap is now up. Please enjoy;

Comments from Yesterday:

Susanlynn:

Thank you so kindly. I do like your theories, they are interesting.

Romy:

In the promo in the beginning in the Mid Atlantic, they show Esteban with a blue shirt on talking to Acacia. In this promo Ulesis doesn't have a shirt on. I get what you are saying.

Aunty Ann:

Thank you kindly.

I am so very happy to see you here. You and Vivi could be right. I too am not the fan of Ulises. It's not the gap tooth thingy it's his voice.

Adriana Noel:

Thank you kindly. I agree that Esteban does look dazed and confused and I think you are also right about Juliana throwing Cris under the bus if she ever got the chance. Juliana is a schemer.

Madelaine, fabulous recap.

Beatings, bleatings and betrayals. Oh my...

"Seems they know each other, oh, hellz noes! From back in the day" Notice the slime trail leading up to their table" and "He pulls El Rubio's cousin off of Manuel, who is in the hurt locker" were my favorites.

Such a small sad world. Of course Danilo and El Rubio would know each other. Slime seeks slime.

Ale is extremely courageous to stay, especially as she recognized Norberto. Surely she must expect he will either remember or find out who she is. Now with Danilo and El Rubio in the same orbit, the walls will surely close in on Ale quickly. I give her credit for moving though - at least she won't be constantly visible in the house as Norberto is a frequent guest.

Now that he has been maimed (and not nearly enough I add), I suspect Danilo's wrath will be unabated until he exacts his vengence on Ale.

Is it that Manuel is deeply in love with Acacia or is he fearful of defying his father? Of course he would also have to contend with Juliana who would never accept Luisa. Manuel should have been honest and said he already got a beat down and not blamed everything on Ulises.

Looking forward to tonight.

Thank you for all the details and your fantastic commentary Madelaine.

Diana

Thanks for another great recap, Mads!

This is NOT good at all that TWO guys with a grudge against Ale (Rubio and Danilo) are amigos. Yikes! And now Danilo is closer than ever. OMG! Who's going to corner Ale first? Norberto, Danilo, or Rubio?

We learned that Rubio's big brother and Danilo used to be BFF, but Rubio's brother was killed by the cops. No surprise. And Danilo's old nickname was Chayote, which he seems to hate. I got the feeling he was eying Rubio's young ruffian cousin as potential muscle in the new "adult entertainment" biz he's starting in town.

Not like he was high up in my esteem before, but Manuel lost major points by acting like a big cry baby when Acacia told him about her boyfriend, and then for letting everyone think Ulises was the one who beat him up. I really don't actually think Ulises threw any punches at him. He was just holding him and trying to get him to calm down and stop fighting.

Cris gave Acacia great advice-- to tell Ulises the whole truth before anyone else did. And I was surprised when she actually did it! I was sure Ulises would find out later about Manuel and think the worst. Of course the writers just decided to throw another wrench by having Acacia think Ulises beat up Manuel.

I love how German seductively gets all up in Ale's space when he's talking to her. And she's flirting right back, without even realizing it. A first kiss can't be that far away.

Diana:

Thank you kindly. I couldn't help that earworm, it was so perfect for the pool table part.

Oh, I agree with you about Manuel, he is scared of his Papa. Manuel was lying his butt off. He should have admitted the previous beatdown and not blamed it all on Ulises. If I were Manuel, I'd be scared of Juliana too. She is already not happy about Acacia throwing Manuel over, and I don't think she will ever accept Luisa. Juliana practically forced Luisa off of Manuel.

Esteban was right about Manuel. He is a wastrel and will never really amount to anything. German is a way better guy.

I'm not sure about Ulises either. As someone mentioned yesterday, could Ulises be fudging on his project and it really isn't green? Has he pulled the wool over everyone's eyes? We'll have to wait and see. Why can't he get the financing he needs? Hmmmm.....

Vivi:

Thank you kindly. So that was what they were saying about the cops. Adult entertainment? I'm worried not only about Alejandra but about Luisa too. Any young woman for that matter. Yuck! I too think that El Rubio's cousin will be an enforcer. I too was surprised that Acacia followed Cris' advice.

I am really liking German and Alejandra. It's like a dance with them and I think she is starting to trust him. I too can't wait for their first kiss.

Madelaine – Thanks. I join Diana in taking the slime trail line about El Rubio and Danilo as my favorite.

Ordinarily I advise the heroine to take a stand and fight back. But in this case, I say "Run, Alejandra, Run!!!" I am terrified for her.

Ulises needs to run too. Acacia claims to be in love with him, but twice she's gone ballistic against him in an instant when somebody makes accusations. Both times she refused to even listen to Ulises. I say take that green project elsewhere because these townspeople are nuts.

But it was nice to see Acacia earlier telling her mother about her problem with Manuel and Cris not freaking out. Acacia should've also told Cris about El Rubio. These women own the ranch, not Esteban, and should be able to fire El Rubio. Even if Esteban only longs for Acacia but takes no action, Cris doesn’t need him as a husband. Already, his "blank stare" feelings are corrupting his decisions.

Thanks muchly for the recap! I just moved and we don't have cable yet, so i've been relying on online streams. Unfortunately, univision hasn't included the English subs at all this week, so i'm forced to decipher what's going on using my junior high Spanish. Without these recaps i'd have very little idea of what was happening! Love where the German/Alejandra storyappears to be headed. I almost wish the novela was about them instead of old pinch-mouthed Acacia.

Rain, I think many of us agree that German/Alejandra is the more appealing of the main romances, first, because the characters are so sweet and likeable and also as it does not involve the rather offputting triangle of a husband, wife and her daughter!

Diana

Thank you, Madelaine, the way you deliver these recaps day after day is truly amazing.

I'm really not feeling Ullises and Acacia as a couple. She snaps at everything and he's just too bland for my taste.

Ale and German are the only couple to root for so far and there is no surprise there.

Also, I'm discovering that I don't really like Luisa. There is something about her that rubs me the wrong way. She and Manuel would make a great pair.

Niece:

Thank you kindly. I agree that Acacia should have told Cris about El Rubio but I think Acacia doesn't want to rock the boat with Cris and Estebon. I too want poor Alejandra to run, but with German I think he can help her.

I got a chuckle about your run Ulises and the townspeople are cray cray, lol. Acacia really does go ballistic.

Rain:

Thank you kindly. I hope you get your cable soon. I'm glad you are reading the recaps. I too am really liking Ale and German.

Adriana Noel:

Thank you kindly. I know what you mean about Luisa. She whines a lot and wants Acacia's help. I think this may be a case of Luisa loving Manuel and him not loving her. I think either way she won't get him. She's already starting to act bitter. And besides Juliana will never allow it.

Thanks for the hilarious and brilliant recap Mads. Perhaps this has already been discussed, but what's up with the collars on Norberto's jackets---that Napoleanic vampire look? That particular fashion statement fits his disgusting demeanor so well.

Thanks Madelaine for answering about the intro and the recap. I really hoping it's a red herring and Este will do the honorable thing and steer clear. Anyhoo, I am so afraid for poor Alejandra and I think she's La Malquerida, the name fits her pobrecita. Acacia is too darn loud, jeez. Uff the bad guys are too darn close. Ulysses I am on the fence he may be trouble. Luisa is jealous of Acacia's position so I see trouble ahead.
Romy

Dona Gringuita:

Thank you kindly. No on has discussed the fashion and I like that you brought up Norbie's collars. I think he thinks he is Napoleon, lol. Lets see how that goes!

Romy:

Thank you kindly.

I too hope Este does the right thing. I don't want to see that type of triangle believe me. Maybe La Malquerida is Juliana, I get that vibe from her. Or it could be the Hacienda itself. I can't wait to find out.

Thanks so much Madelaine---I didn't get a chance to comment yesterday but I have read everything from both yesterday and today.

Alejandra---TAKE OFF THAT RING!!!
It's a dead giveaway.

I like Luisa but I don't think that she has any chance of getting what she wants being a servant in a class conscious society.

YES! Acacia is hot headed and snaps a lot. She's one tough cookie.

I was wrong about Juliana . In the very beginning, I thought that she was nice---maybe even mistreated by the tyrant that she is married to. But now I see that she is not much better than Norberto. She's cunning, a wolf in sheep's clothing.

Of course Juliana yelled and said that Ulises beat up her son. She wants Ulises away from Acacia so that Manuel can move in on her. She and Norberto want that rancho
and Manuel's mirage to Acacia would be a good start. In fact, they would be half way there.

You notice that Manuel kept his mouth shut. Ulises never even hit him.

Oh and by the way, the beat down that Manuel took would have put him in a hospital with broken ribs or possible internal injuries. He would not have been driving home and then taking a swing at Ulises. Well it's a novela so we can bypass the flaws.

Is Univision cutting this?

Angie-Yes, slightly. They're giving us about 1 and a fourth episodes per night, according to someone here who's watching from Mexico. It's probably nothing too important plot wise, but I find that oftentimes the little scenes like that contribute the most to character development, so it's a little disappointing.
