Mi Corazon Es Tuyo, # 33 03 Sep 2014 Diego gets the truth... Ximena gets a hug... IsaBruja gets a wedding gown and a nanny voo doo doll

Repeat of Fernando with his guilts, and Ana running after Diego; Diego angry as heck, but Ana convinces him to stay; Bruno’s rule ‘to live good, you better be quiet after seeing and listening… I am here for you, go ahead and let it go, open your heart’;

Fer: we have so much hidden anger, so many years, so many memories gathered since we were kids… and that which you know about, ended splitting us for good… of course I love my brother, it is not easy to admit that he has been away so long for my fault… you know Diego was always a free spirit, something neither my dad or I could understand.. (Bruno asks if they can accept him as he is now)

Diego tells Ana his story… since kids I was always compared to Fer… my dad was not like he is now.. he was strict, stubborn, very tough on me… Fer was always the boy scout, the one with perfect grades, my parents pride and joy… I was the rebel, the one that got suspended in school frequently, and when my mom died… my Don Nic Lasc found refuge in working… (Ana: and the story repeats itself, no?).. that is right… Fer took care of educating me and caring for me… but always scrutinizing me (senalandome).. I know he was doing it for my wellbeing, but I always felt belittled… until one day… I think the happiest day of my life… the most beautiful girl in the world… noticed me.. she noticed the imperfect one… she became my girlfriend… (where is she, Diego??) … she is in heaven, Ana… that woman…. Was Fanny, my brother’s wife… (no wonder you two had been separated for so long… and you said he took what you loved most?) Yes, and although relationships are for just two people… she chose him. My brother, Fernando, ended up the winner, as always. (Ana can’t believe Fer ‘took’ Diego’s girl).. Fanny was more than that, Ana.. She was the love of my life.

Fer continues his heart spill to Bruno…

Fer: I tried… I fought to rip that love from my heart… you know how much… but I couldn’t.

Dieg: I have never loved anyone like I loved her.

Bru: Estefania married you and gave you seven wonderful kids.

Fer: Yes, and… we destroyed Diego’s life.

Ana: Then Mrs Fanny…

Dieg: I made her a promise.

Lo Nuevo:

Ana thanks Diego for his honesty. He wants their relationship to begin with the truth. She has a double take… ‘our relationship?’ Diego insists that she should do the same and spill her soul to him. He would like to know what happened between her and Fer. She repeats, it was just a couple kiss and the typical story of the employee who falls for the boss… nothing really happened.

Nico arrives, and both Ana and Diego notice he is not well. He admits he needs them and tells them Jennifer broke up with him. He tells them Jennifer met another younger guy… Ana slips ‘that is not true’ but then backtracks her… The truth is Jennifer does care a whole lot about you. Diego agrees. Nico wonders what he will do without her.

Alicia gets heat from Sebas and the twins for telling Ana about the hip –hop boys. She explains that those boys were scary, that is why she told Ana. Fernando walks in, wants to know what is going on. The boys lie and say Alicia had taken Sebas’ tablet but Fer won’t buy what they’re selling. So he will go ask Ana.

Ana tells Nico that she has to go put the kids to sleep… but she offers any help he can think of.

Fer comes down and is a bit too curious about Ana spending time with Diego… Ana responds in kind (a bit bitter and sharp)… we just talked. Fer asks her what is up with Sebas and Alicia. She does not want to keep anything from him so she will tell him.

Ximena wakes up at Nando’s room, she apologizes to him and admits she does not deserve him… (boy is that the truth!)… he tells her it is the other way around (kisses her hand and calls her my love).

Ana tells Fernando the truth about Alicia, Sebas and the hip-hop boys. Fernando, for a change, has a very objective conversation with Ana and even asks her what she thinks they should do. She says we should be out there by the school to see things ourselves. Fer asks her to do that for him, as a favor. Ana warns him that Sebas might be looking out there for what he does not have at home… and what is ‘forbidden’ is what is most attractive. Fer agrees… says he will let Sebas do what he likes to… and thanks her. He seems at a loss looking at her go up the stairwell.

At the bridal salon, the brujas are giving the saleslady a very hard time, it is way way after closing time. Yolanda acts offended and says they will stay until they find a dress that makes Isa look like a queen.

Fer apologizes to Diego for going over the line.. Diego semi miffed agrees that finally there is something they agree on.

Fer (here comes the ‘but’…) But… Ana does have a job and has no time even to have a coffee…

Diego claims that Ana is not Fer’s private slave.

Fer warns Diego not to tell him how to deal with his staff.

Diego asks if that is what Ana comes down to… just his staff.

Fer gets defensive, ‘whatever she might have been… it is none of your business’.

Diego: you are jealous!

Fer: What if I were!?

Diego: you will get married in 3 weeks! You have no reason to get jealous!

Fer: I don’t have to explain to you anything about my life! Leave Ana in peace! Get it?

Diego: What if I said I won’t leave her in peace? What if I said I am attracted to her? (Fer stunned)

Ana is helping Alicia wash her face (really? She needs supervision for that?) Alicia tells Ana that now Sebas is angry with her. Ana reassures her she did the right thing. Luz comes in. Alicia tells Ana that she wants to start planning her sweet 15 party. Ana starts asking if she wants the escort boy and the long gown etc etc (the traditional party). Alicia says that is old fashioned.

Fer still arguing with Diego that he can’t come to his house and seduce his kids’ nanny. Diego is tired of arguing, enough of that for the day. ‘what do you want to do? Get Ana in bed and then dump her as you are used to with all the girls?’ ‘I don’t want to get Ana in bed! I am seriously interested in her!’ Fer claims he knows Diego too well. Diego says think again. You never did know me. Time’s up, gotta go. Diego tells Fer that Nico needs both of them. Diego will go investigate what is going on and sends Fer to talk to Nico.

At bridal salon, the brujas have finally chosen a gown.. or have they? … the dress Isabruja chose is white, and Yola is saying ‘it is white… and you are no longer that … pure’. The saleslady faints at the counter.

At the Chicago, Jenny is checking with the other girl (Dana?) about Johnny. Diego arrives. He goes straight to Jenny, who has no time to warn Ana. Ana is being introduces via the intercom for her presentation. She starts her routine. Which is longer than usual. Diego at first does not recognize her but when she gets her face in the light, he does. Diego is more than impressed with her skill. Diego asks Jenny what is up with Ana there. Jenny says ‘it is not what it looks like’. Jenny tries to lie to make it as if Ana is doing this just tonight…Diego won’t bite. Ana finally sees Diego and immediately comes to him and asks angrily if he is following her around. He warns her she better finish her act, the crowd is getting rowdy. She warns him not to leave without talking to her.

Nico and Fer at the house have a talk. Fer explains he at first was against Nico and Jenn together because he thought Jenn was interested in Nico’s bank account. But he was wrong. Nico says what does it matter now? Fer asks if he can do anything. Nico says one thing… give me a hug. Fer does.

Ana finishes her act. She drags Diego to her dressing room. She demands to know what he is doing there. HE came to see Jennifer because Nico is not well. She begs him not to tell Fer. Diego starts mocking her ‘the nanny of Fer’s kids has a double life… and dances at an antro with little to wear.. I think it will be very impactante for my bro… (she demands he look in her eyes, drags him to her dressing room) Jenn comes in, tells Diego she would give her life for her friend… Jenn tells Ana that Johnny is lost since last night… Ana will deal with one issue at a time… sends Jenny away, will talk to Teo later about that.

(Diego notices Ana is very nervous) Diego, I beg you… don’t look there!... I love your brother’s kids so much… Diego agrees… (Diego still confused, how come Fer hired a woman like her… and not someone with degrees … Ana takes offense in that, asking if he is judging her by her looks… it’s a long story). Diego asks if Fer suspects anything… Ana tells him about Fer’s visit to the club and about his liking her disguise as ‘Lola’ the Italian. Please, Diego… don’t tell anything to your brother…

I’ll dance for you in private …

I’ll detail your motorbike

I’ll shave you and cut your hair for free

I’ll get you permament free drinks here

I’ll do your laundry

I’ll cook my grandma’s secret recipe cookies for you

I’ll give you facials and massages

I’ll read stories at night for you

I’ll massage your back with my stilettos

Diego is still on the fence…

At the house Fer is talking to IsaBruja on phone.. She made an appointment with the OBGYN to get her ultrasound. She also has been thinking they need to fix up one of the rooms in his house for the baby. He is totally distracted/disengaged in the conversation. She says goodbye with ‘I love you’ and is clearly expecting the same in return but he can’t seem to stomach or spurt the words…

IsaBruja gets sad and tells MotherBruja that Fer doesn’t love her. MB tells her not to worry. MB asks her to bring a doll she bought that looks like the nanny (oh no, not voo doo dolls!! O M G!!! Yolanda a.k.a. Mother Bruja is into Voo Doo Dolls!!). MB makes IsaBruja sink pins into the nanny doll. You have to do with feeling, you have to release all the anger you have inside… hit her in the heart… orale!!

At the club, Ana is feeling real bad, holds her chest… she thinks or at least tells Diego it is about anxiety. Ana tells Diego that she is the first one interested in Jennifer and his dad to get back together. Diego says he has one question left. Why do you still dance here? Ana says she has a year commitment to the owner of the place because she was deep in debt, but she also loves to dance… and the ‘Chicago’ is the closest thing to Broadway that she has within her means at the moment.

Fanny calls Leon, who is clearly too worried to talk to her the usual way. He suddenly is in a hurry to stop being ‘mensajero’ and get a serious career. She tries to encourage him and ‘love you’. He remembers his conversation with his mom and tells himself he has to tell Fanny the truth.

Back to the club… Ana and Jenn are now talking to Teodoro (who seems to feel like disguising as Liberace with that musical note suit jacket). Teo tells them he knows nothing about Johnny but does not lose the chance to remind her that both Johnny and Ana have big debts with him.

We get a glimpse of Johny, who is remembering his conversation with Jennifer. He can’t stop thinking of Jennifer. He has to get out of here..

Back to Bruja Manor… Isa has turned the nanny doll into a colorful porcupine (pins had different color heads)… she feels like sinking the pins directly on ‘her’. She wants Ana far far away from Fernando. Isa says she can’t get Ana to leave, not even with ‘chochos’. (not sure of this word and if it censored I apologize) Mother Bruja asks her not to use that word, it is too ‘na=ka’. Mother Bruja makes a pitch for moving into the Lasc house along with Isa, ‘I have to be your consultant, give you advice’. Isa is so sold on her previous ‘advice’. Mother Bruja continues, we will be moving in as the Mrss Lascurain, and then we will figure out how to get rid of Ana. Haven’t figured out how yet, but will .. so Fernando will forget about her for good. (now these two are beginning to creep me out, like they are real witches)

At club, Jenn asks Ana if Diego will tell Fer. Ana is not getting her hopes too high that Diego would stay quiet. Jenn feels guilty about Diego coming to talk to her. Ana asks Jenny why she broke up with Nico. Jenn says ‘what do you think? ‘Cause Now after the surgery, I won’t be able to be a mommy’ (you know, Jenny? At this age and with so many grandchildren, I seriously doubt Nico would mind that very much)

Now dressed like Sherlock Holmes in plaid gray, Bruno is getting a drink and Manuela scares him so bad he drops glass… he calls her witch… and she claims that it is because his conscience is THAT dirty…

Jenn worried about how she will pay for the treatments (the surgery and the chemo). Ana says she is already working on it… but she wants to know more about Nico. Jenn says Nico wants fun, and who will want to be with a crippled woman? She does not want Nico to pay for her treatment or to be with her out of pity. Ana reminds Jenny that Nico loves her since way before she discovered her illness. And he does not deserve to be left behind like that. He is a good guy. About the money, Ana will talk to Don Teo (Jenn does not like that idea). Ana says I will take care of it. ‘you take it easy, I am the nervous’ (tu tranquila, yo nerviosa).

Diego gets home… and is still on the fence about Ana… heads upstairs.

Fer is checking on the boys room… tucks and kisses the twins, then tells Sebas that he loves him and will do what he can to support him.… Sebas wakes up and thanks him, Fer caresses him… then leaves.

Ana arrives to her room, as she is taking her shoes off (noisy shoes aren’t they?) Fer is about to knock on her door, but he changes his mind and leaves. Luz is in Ana’s bed. Ana remembers Diego telling her that Fer should find out the truth. Ana decides to write a letter to Fer. Dear Don Fernando… this letter is to tell you once and for all who I am… I am… a dancer.

Meanwhile Diego is in his room looking at the pictures he took of Ana, and remembering her dancing. He tells himself it has been very long since he felt like this.

Ana walks out to the hallway. She prays and pushes the letter under Fer’s door. Diego catches her right after it… startles her right at Fer’s door… Ana tells Diego she wrote Fer a letter with the whole truth. HE asks her why she did that… he was kidding when he said he would tell Fer. They have to do something Fer cannot read the letter!... At that moment on the other side of the door Fer is picking up the letter.

Previews: Diego tells Nando about his feelings for Ana. Also, Fer is stunned as he catches Diego planting a ‘tronado’ (thunderous one) on Ana

Off Topic: For those of you who like Hispanic film and live in an Hispanic area, I recommend the movie "Cantinflas" that just came out last Friday. Luckily for me it is playing at my local AMC. It is bilingual with English/Spanish subtitles depending on which language is being spoken. It is very entertaining with Spanish actor Óscar Jaeneda doing an outstanding job in the title role of Mexico's comedic treasure.

On Topic: Marta, thank you for your most excellent and detailed recap. I agree that Isabela and Yolanda did pass over to creepy territory with that voodoo doll and cackling over how once they get in the Lascuráin household they'll find a way to get rid of Ana and make Fernando forget her forever.

I did not find Diego telling Ana that he had no real intention of telling Fernando about her dancing at Chicago funny. I found it rather cruel when he saw how upset and desperate she was and still kept the up the "teasing". Let us see how he can help her get the note back that Fernando now has in his hand.

It was also interesting that Fernando immediately expected that Diego was interested in Ana to seduce her. I think that tells more about him than Diego.

Poor Ana willing to indenture herself even further with Doroteo to help finance Jennifer's treatment. At least Nico did not seem to fully believe Jennifer.

My favorite scene was with Fernando and Ana sitting on opposite ends of the sofá discussing Sebastián.

So Alicia is ready to start planning her quinceañera.
That could be a fun subplot especially with Isabela in the mix.

Jarifa

Voodoo? Seriously? Come on now, writers, get real!

And please, Fernando, por lo que mas quieras ... DON'T let Sebas dance!!!

Thank you, Marta! I only have watched this episode, while doing stuff around the house, so all the detail is helping me feel in the gaps.

So now Diego knows Ana's secret, too. I thought that Nico will find out before, but I'm pretty sure that the last one to know will be Fernando.

Yolanda and Isabela just went from annoying gold-diggers to creepy brujas.... but wait, they were that already.

Thanks so much Marta. This was a strange episode, some good, some down-right stupid.

I agree, Voodoo? I don't know if you can say these two crossed a line because they have been weird and conniving from the beginning, but the whole conversation of plotting to get rid of Anna was more creepy to me than the stupid doll. Officially want Yolanda away from Nico for sure, and if Fer lets YoMama move in, add to his clueless behavior.

Speaking of which, of course he doesn't sau I love you. Isabraindead is disappointed? And why the blazes, and I know we keep beating this to death, doesn't he just fess up and say, sorry, this is about the child. Or even say, I hope I can grow to love you, but I don't now. Coward. This doesn't bode well for future plots.

And in the meantime, this bickering between the brothers. Neither is a perfect 10 in behavior, and I'm ok with that as that's just being realistic, but Nico needs to take a step back from his hurt over Jen and slap both his boys up the back of the head right now. Poor Ana will have enough grief when the brujas move in, she needs the men-folks support, not being in a tug of war between them. Like that will help with Isabitch.

My radar says Nico and Jen will find their way back to each other. of course, that won't stop the stupid triangle with Yolanda. Blech.

Finally we will get Leon's big secret? Yeah, this isn't looking good. Darn. But I bet it's not as bad as they are trying to make it...or I hope not or my old tween-heart crush will be ruined.

Daisynjay

Gracias, Marta.

Whoever started calling them brujas, felicidades on that. Great call. Yes, it's a bit ridiculous but it would be more so with another actress playing Yolanda.

I predict that the next step will be Isabruja trying to cast a spell on Fernando to make him love her. I have a few choice words for that one, but will save them for their own post.

Diego fell several notches with his nasty "teasing" about telling Fernando. He needs to know that there are things in this world you can't make fun of and for some people there is no such thing as "good" teasing. Ana should slap him flat for that one.

Head-scratching also because Pablo Montero is now being cast as characters older than himself.

Now for my Non-Wit and Wisdom of the Day. Someone needs to teach Isabela a very important lesson: You have no control over whether anyone loves you.

I had this lightbulb moment about 12 years ago when a friend ended up getting divorced. When her ex told her he wanted a divorce she actually got on her knees in front of him and begged him to love her. I cringed when she told me that, knowing that this level of abasement was going to have exactly the opposite effect. There can be no love without respect and there can be no respect for a person without dignity.

For those reasons it is actually liberating to realize this because it will protect you from doing things you will hate remembering later.

If by any bizarre chance the writers decide that Isabela will do a "love spell" on Fernando and have her succeed she should ultimately realize that making a puppet of him will erode any respect she would have for him. That's a lesson she should learn from Angelique of Dark Shadows; this was the one thing she would not do to Barnabas.

Yolanda seems to know that the person who loves the least has the most power in any relationship. She isn't going to like what she witnesses when all this gets started.

Marta, an amazing, witty, fully detailed summary. You always provide so many interesting details that I miss. Most excellent.

"Now dressed like Sherlock Holmes in plaid gray" and "Ana is helping Alicia wash her face (really? She needs supervision for that?)" were among my many favorites.

"Diego: you will get married in 3 weeks! You have no reason to get jealous!" sums up the situation perfectly. You can't have everything, let alone everything at once. Fer should step aside and let Diego and Ana get on with their lives. His trying to keep them apart will only serve to bring them closer together.

That said, I was not thrilled that Ana was really begging Diego to keep her secret. If he had no intention of telling Fer, he should have said so immediately. I agree with Jarifa that it was cruel.

SN did an amazing routine last night. Give her full credit - I only wish Sebas was as talented. Sigh.

Perhaps Johnny cares more about Jen than he realizes? Is it strictly friendship that he is feeling? Either way, he is redeeming himself...

And of course Ana going to Doroteo is absurd - she should go to Nico. Sorry, this is a secret that should not be kept. I like Jen and Nico - I have no problem with the age difference and hope things work out.

Daisy, I hope Leon's secret comes out tonight so we can end our speculation. I mean, it can't really be all that bad, can it??

Marta, thank you once again. This was fantastic.

Diana

UA, "Yolanda seems to know that the person who loves the least has the most power in any relationship". So true! So very true...

Diana

so sorry guys, forgot to label it go mcet. done.

UA...
yeah, the quote Diana had... i agree...
and i also agree on:
Yes, it's a bit ridiculous but it would be more so with another actress playing Yolanda.
i don't think anyone other than Carmen Salinas (or Sylvia Pasquel) would get away with this type of character... has to be caricaturesque per the type of novela but also have some serious moments like when she gives Isa her analysis on Ana and Ana's role/position of privilege in that household. Regardless of whether Isa becomes Mrs Lascuwhine or not.

I also totally agree in that Diego took his 'playful teasing' too far. He should realize that Ana is in a big BIND and the losers if she gets fired would be the kids... so shut up and become her supporter rather than her pain in the ___.

Marta, thanks for that detailed and entertaining recap.

A voodoo doll is one thing, but using a Barbie-type doll for it? Even stranger. I would have thought the normal plotting and scheming would have been enough. While they're at it, why don't they get a dancing power spell for Sebas?

UA, love your Dark Shadows reference. Boy, that brings back memories! I was so addicted to that show back in the day.

Personally, hated them using a barbie doll for the Voodoo doll. I should never have read that interview with the producer who said he wanted to send good messages and was careful on what they showed since they expected younger audiences. Yeah, great, we get Johny with his bloodied face every day now and they are taking the doll little girls love (though personally didn't like Barbies) and they get to watch sticking pins in one. Nope, sorry, this is not family hour viewing.

I'm of the mind that we are seeing faults in Diego as well since both "boys" have some growing up to do. Ana is becoming the Nanny for more than 7 kids. Those two guys are going to learn the right way to treat a woman thanks to her, so we have to suffer through them screwing up, also with her. Poor thing.

Daisynjay

DaisynJay, i forgot to mention it but yes, it was a barbie type doll and if it is meant to be a family show... they are not putting their best face forward in between the
1. gangster type characters and treatment, blackmailing good folks like Ana and beating Johny
2. barbie voodoo doll torture
3. parenting skills (or lack thereof, more like neglecting them or their needs)
4. jealousy between mature men (both should be over 40 by now, right? even though we know Diego is supposed to be a good 5 or more years younger than Fer from his story telling to Ana)
5. the cancer storyline which is not for kids
yeah.. definitely not a kids show

and you are oh so right, The Lasc brothers are more kids Ana has to babysit around and teach how to communicate and respect each other.

Pablo Montero just passed his 40th birthday (which still blows my mind) so for this to go back 22 years? Jorge Salinas is actually 46 years old, so they are the right age difference off-camera for these roles. Except that for a man to win the girlfriend of an 18-yr-old bro just isn't right.

Not that Fernando did this on purpose; I wouldn't believe that. It's not in his moral code.

There will be trouble for Ana tonight, I'm sure of it. And it's Diego's fault for making her believe he's going to rat her out to Fernando.

I would love to see the children collectively protest the marriage when the priest asks about objections. However, Fernando seriously disappointed me by not refusing the church ceremony. For the moment his only way out later will be if he somehow refuses to consummate the marriage.

Thanks so much, Marta, for a delightfully detailed and funny recap. This was a strange episode in some ways -- voodoo business, for example. But the writers are playing games with Yolanda as the gold digger with a "naca" background, creating an approach/avoidance to Ana and her world. We will see where this goes!

Diego is a mujeriego of the first order. Of course he would tease Ana, anything to seduce her and draw her in. I think the point here is that he is slowly falling in love and will more firmly take her side at every turn. Also, the indecision about whether to tell Fernando goes back to his promise to Fanny -- make peace. A part of him would want to tell Fernando about Ana to seem to be a good brother. He is a charming rogue and NOT good boyfriend or husband material, but a great addition to the novela.

And, yes, I agree. NO church ceremony, Fernando. You do not love or even seem to like this woman!

I'd love to see a smart priest figure out that Fernando is so not into Isabela (and won't be if you get my drift) and refuse to do their ceremony.

I'm hoping one of Isabruja's past lovers interrupts the ceremony!

Wow to SN for her dancing skills! Amazing!!

Funny that two brothers as different as night and day are totally entranced by the same women.

We need the Padre from Robo. Bless him, he'd be giving Fer a what for and dressing down at this point, baby or no.

Daisynjay

I don't know Daisynjay, I think the good Padre would be telling Fer he needs to marry Isa and be a good father to the baby. He had no problems with telling Montse to stay married to a man she didn't love (of course in the beg.) and allowing Ale to treat her like a prize cow bought and paid for.

Very good job, Marta.

SN did beautifully on the pole and I think it isn't very easy. However, maybe I'm the only one, but I think the cameras could have gotten better shots of Ana on the pole.

Ann-NYC

If Fernando is being so "moral" now he should have been as "moral" before and not had sex out of wedlock to begin with. Being consistent with his "moral" code could have saved him so much grief. His very inconsistency is what has caused his current problem. So funny.

Jarifa

Jarifa, he seems to have a hard time saying "no" to anyone but his kids.

Thanks, Marta!

Wait, they're actually attempting to make this young-audience-friendly?!?! Yikes! How bad would it be if they weren't? I'm not exactly young, and I had a little trouble watching some of last night's scenes. I actually had to look away when Isa was sticking pins into the doll, and I had serious creepy-crawlies seeing Johnny all bloodied and with roaches crawling on him. Why is violence okay to show?

I still like Diego and his roguish charm, but he needs to grow up. Teasing is only okay when the subject thinks it's funny, too. Genuinely stressing someone out, ESPECIALLY when that person is essentially powerless, is cruel. It's bullying, not joking.

Although I do kind of wish Ana would come clean with Fer, get her secrets out in the open, and make the case that she is still an excellent nanny for the kids and that he should get over his double standards. I mean, she may dance in a club, but at least she isn't out having sex with people she doesn't care for and making babies with them and bringing witches into the house. So I say she's got the moral high ground over Fer.

I hope Alicia's quince is a million times more awesome than Isabully's wedding.

I like how Isa and Yomama sort of switch back and forth between which is worse and which is almost a teeny bit human for a moment. Last night, it was Isa of all people showing a smidgen of courtesy to the poor sales clerk. But only a smidge. I hope they tailor her dress up a little too tight so she thinks she's getting fat.

Leon's secret had better not be too terrible. I need at least one crush on the show, even an age-inappropriate one!

This comment has been removed by the author.

How about inoDoro-teo?

Great recap, thank you Marta!

I haven't had much time to read all comments and even less time to comment myself. I really like this TN, well except for the voodoo. But I can't help getting a LQNPA vibe...... does anyone out there get the feeling that Yolanda will end up being Ana's long lost mother?

I erased my last comment because there was an error on it.

Please please please writers, don't make this stupid voodoo doll nonsense actually work.

Thanks Marta, great detail of every conversation. I love it. One small correction, Teodoro should be Doroteo.

So will Fernando read the note? Wait until tomorrow. I say no, but it is a 50/50 chance.

Now what could León's secret be? What could jeopardize his relationship with Fanny? Maybe it will be like Jane Eyre, and he has a crazy wife in the attic.

Do we know the ages of Ana and Isabela? Ana remembers her mother slightly from when she was a little girl. So if Yomama were Ana's mother, Isa would have to be at least a few years younger. Would they not have recognized each other at all? Or Yomama not have even wondered if this Ana is her daughter? Does Yomama play guitar?

From the way Ana remembers her mother, I envision her as a little more elegant and genteel (in mannerisms, if not economic status) than uncouth clodhopper Yolanda.

But Yolanda did seem to know about Nicolas previously...I wonder if she knew him years ago but he doesn't remember her.

Thank you, Marta, for last night's recap!

Whoa! Isabruja and Yo-mama-naca Bruja are REAL brujas!?! Internal conflict much for Isabruja? She wants to have a church ceremony AND to practice voodoo? Maybe the priest will find out about her dark 'hobby' and refuse to perform the wedding. BTW, the pins in the doll's head and body creeped me out too, Julia. Isabruja enjoyed the activity a little too much.

Diego dropped a notch in my estimation last night by 'threatening' to blab Ana's secret. However, so did Ana by promising lots of ridiculous favors to Diego for his silence. If she's going to continue dancing, she should be proud and honest about it. She should never offer 'favors' to someone to keep her secret. It demeans her.

My thoughts go like this: although no ages have been mentioned, Ana is most likely mid-30's, especially since Jenn just said she is 34. Also Ana has talked about not being able to wait too much longer to have kids (to Johnny). Isa could be late 20's. In other TNs, the mother leaves a child and meets a rich guy and has another child, yada yada.

It also struck me when Isa called her mother a naca, or something to that effect. Could be when the brujas move into the mansion Yolanda will recognize the guitar, because you know she'll go through Ana's things.

Now this is a stretch but Carmen Salinas is a singer...

My last thought is, when will Fer grow a spine? He should have nixed the church wedding in a single breath.

Wait, we know that Ana's mother plays the guitar. I can't picture YoMama playing any instrument.

Thanks Marta. Hated every bit of the Diego/Ana exchange at the club.

Yes, it is a stretch but a TN trick is that two of the main characters often end up being half siblings. And Carmen is a singer in real life but I don't know if she plays the guitar.

In the opening credits there is a young-ish woman that has not yet been introduced, running through the maze. She looks too young to be Ana's mother but too old to be Leon's secret whatever. And there is an older, familiar looking actress as well... could be Ana's mother.

I can't wait until Lasardo (Lizardo?), the one named actor shows up. Good, or evil?

LoriLoo and Cathyx - I used to suspect Isabruja and Ana might have the same mother, but I don't ever see Yomama with a guitar. In the opening song-and-dance number, we see a blondish, older woman in the hedge maze. I suspect she might be Ana's mother. I think the ironic plot twist might be that Isabruja's mom is naca, while Ana's mom is upper crust. Just speculating . . .

Thank you Marta. Awesome recap. The love of money leads people to all sorts of strange places. MB is not the least bit concerned that her only child is going into a loveless marriage. The child herself is so dazzled by Fer's money she is not thinking. I hate to imagine what that household will turn into after the brujas move in. Poor Ana problems where ever she goes. Diego just seems like the playful type. He forgets Ana doesn't know him that well. She was bound to take him at his word. Jerk.

Ecuador Bound, that sounds quite likely. Ana's mother is from a rich background, and she had to give her up if she didn't want to be shunned from her family. We're certainly not unfamiliar with that theme.

Ecuador Bound: funny how our comments overlap... I also mentioned in my last comment that the older blonde woman could also be her mom.

I'm sure there is more fun to come.

I've only seen Mayrin in good girl roles. She is pretty scary this way!

Thanks cathyx. I thought Ana's mom gave her up because she was poor. My theories are often wrong, lol.

They are killing me with Leon's secret. I hope it comes out soon.

Theories as to why Ana's mom disappeared and she was left in the casa hogar:

*she was too poor to take care of her
*she was very sick, possibly dying
*family pressure
*opportunity to date/marry a man who didn't want her child as part of the package (or she didn't want him to know she had a child)
*she was kidnapped
*mental breakdown, just couldn't handle motherhood
*???

Cathyx, you are right about Doroteo's name, but i will go with Julia's suggestion and just call him 'ino-Doro'. how's that for where we think he should go?

I also think that the older actress in the beginning credits is Ana's mom... i used to think it could be Diego/Fer's mom but since Diego said she died, i gave up on that theory. that leaves only Ana's mom.

and as far as MB being Ana's mom, i seriously doubt it. according to Ana's memories this woman was very soft and feminine, sort of like Fanny Sr. so i do buy into Ana's mom coming from well off family and having to give her up maybe for family rejection issues.

So, Julia, I vote for family pressure.

and my theory on MB is she married into rich family but like she said, she spent all the inheritance money on Isa's education so she could catch a big fish. I think Isa is at least 30. and this is why she is so frustrated. remember her scene at her apt when Fer said no to her proposal? she was angry/frustrated of geting the same outcome again. 'When am I going to get married??!!!" sounds to me like her 'little babies box is running out of juice even earlier than Ana's.'

Julia, family pressure. Ana's mother was from a well to do family who didn't approve of her pregnancy so she went off on her own to have her and try to make it on her own but couldn't, so she put her in an orphanage.

did I hear correctly last night? (when Isa and MB are at the bridal store wrapping up the purchase) does Isa want her wedding gown delivered to her fiancee's house?
IS SHE CRAZY???? interesting possibilities for sure.

@Daisynjay
How could it possibly be for younger viewers when a large portion of the show takes place in a strip club? I agree with your additional observations. This show is not for young viewers.

Oh, yes! She did ask to have the dress delivered to Fer's! Probably so she could put a snootier name and address on the delivery order. But that gives the kids a chance to get their crafty little hands on it. Polvos pica-pica, perhaps?

Maybe Ana will be tempted to put it on and then Fernando will see her.

Witchcraft is rather prevalent in the Hispanic community. A lot of decent Catholic Hispanics practice witchcraft. Many Hispanics visit psychics, have their palms read, engage in tarot card readings, and yes, many of them resort to using spells and voodoo. This is not unheard of. I know this could be said of any race or religion, but being that the topic is on Isabruja and this Novela, I thought I would add my two cents worth. I have met quite a few interesting people in real life that part-take in witchcraft with out giving it a second thought. I am glad to say that I am non-religious. With all of the mixed messages we are taught growing up a certain faith, religion is enough to steer clear of for a lifetime. I think we have the ability to use our gifts for good or evil. Clearly, Isabruja is abusing what she has learned.

Gosh, I have to tell someone right now and you're it. Joan Rivers just died.

What rating does Univision give this? TV-14 was the rating for LQLVMR.

Wouldn't it be funny if -- in view of the voodoo -- Isabruja and Yomamabruja can't physically enter the church? However, Angelique of Dark Shadows was able to fool the first Reverend Trask into believing she was a believer.

The dress might be delivered to Fernando's house because the ceremonies are intended to take place in the garden. However, I suspect that the kids might get to it first, she finds out at the last minute, blames Ana, and postpones the wedding.

RIP Joan Rivers

Thanks Marta for the detailed recap. Haven't seen this ep yet.

Hoping the voodoo thing is a one off and not a running gag.

Haven't had a chance to read all the comments yet, so someone may have already thought of this, but my fear is that Alicia's Quinceañera might be back-burnered because of the wedding.

What this show needs is a shrink. All these characters need to visit a shrink. Anyone remember the scenes in Gancho where Constanza (aka Constahhhncia) went to the shrink (and then Beto joined her)? Those were hilarious.

I think both Fer and Diego trying to work out their psychological issues could be highly comedic.

That would be almost as funny as Frasier and Niles Crane.

Maybe we'll see Isabela planning the quinceanera as a way to bond with her. Imagine a woman who has no understanding of teens planning one.

OMG...poor Alicia would end up with a clown and duck-duck-goose and a Barney cake or something at her quince. And Isa hanging around baby-talking to her friends. She'd be mortified.

Horrors!

Tks for the great recap. I came in on the pole dance, !super Silvia Navarro! Best scene!
too bad the TN doesn't grab you, at least not me, kinda ho hum, usual fare.

Julia, that made me think of the disastrous party given by Gabriela in FELS that embarrassed her daughters.

OMG I am just now watching this episode and haven't yet finished but I had to stop to comment about SN's pole dancing talent!!WOW and some of us thought the pole dancing in LQLVMR was cheesy. Boy were we right! SN really does know how to move around a pole! I am so impressed and it is really her not a double!

In the opening scenes, the older blonde woman (yet to be introduced) running through the maze is Norma Herrera. She played Cayetano's wife in Amor Bravio. She is my guess for Ana's mother.
