Mi Corazón es Tuyo Lunes 9/22/14 #46

Capitulo 46: A Truth and a Consequence

Lascuráin Mansion: Fernando was trying to understand why Yolanda would try to do anything to hurt Ana, so he asked Isabruja. She feigned shock that he would think such a thing.

While this was happening, Ana caught Luz, Alex, Guille, and Sebastián eavesdropping outside the door of the master bedroom. Isabitch did her usual “it's all about me” thing, asking whether Fernando was now doubting herself and reminding him that she was pregnant.
Ana listened as Fernando fell into the apology trap and Isabitch claimed not to understand why her mother would do such a stupid thing. After all, she is an old woman.

Do you think Isabela is trying to set up her mother for being sent to a nursing home?” asked Hera.

Now why would she do that? And how?”

Alzheimer's Disease. Yolanda is old enough and she does embarrass Isabela at times. Demeter, I wouldn't put it past her. But you were away during the engagement party.”

Persephone told me about it. I see what you mean. She may threaten her with it to try to make her do her bidding.”

Hissabela kissed Fernando in her usual manipulative way and commented that perhaps her mother was trying to frame Ana for the theft. Ana heard every word of that one, along with the children.
She then shooed them away from the door with an ironic scolding about eavesdropping. She shushed them as they went down the hall toward their rooms. She tried to explain things to them in a neutral way, but the kids definitely knew whose playing pieces were on the board. And where.
Diego arrived and the kids told him they were talking about La Bruja Mayor. He asked about that, but Ana cut this off and gave the kids their newly laundered PJ's. Luz sniffed hers and indicated she liked the fabric softener scent

[Suavitel? Lavender Sachet? Here's a product placement waiting to happen.]

When Luz asked Ana if she could sleep with her, Ana told her that she and Diego were going out to dance salsa. Diego demonstrated it and Luz got excited.
Nando and Ximena entered and Ximena asked if they could join them. Luz wanted to come, too, but Ana told her she couldn't and took her off to her room. Nando wasn't too crazy about the idea of going to a club, but Ximena was very high on it.

In the master bedroom, Isabruja promised Fernando she would talk to her mother and he wouldn't have any trouble with her again. He bought it hook, line, and sinker and said that what Yomama did was bad enough, but he wanted to understand the motive.
He couldn't see Isabad rolling her eyes, but she was saved from having to answer him when Bruno knocked and entered to tell them that their guest, "Enrique Ba-Basurto" was waiting downstairs.

Do you think he called him that deliberately?”

Whatever do you mean, Hermes?” asked Hera. “You know Bruno stutters.”

In their language 'baba surto' means an anchored pool of slime.”

Really?” Aphrodite smiled. “How apt.”

Fernando indicated they would be down in a moment and Bruno left to tend to their guest. Isabad then told Fernando “The only thing you need to know is how much I love you.” She kissed him, but his smile was half-hearted.
The slimy Señor Basurto had anchored himself near the foot of the stairs where he stared at the painting of Fernando's first wife.
Manuela entered to serve him his cocktail and began flirting with him. He did nothing to discourage her and she went far enough to enquire as to whether he was an actor. He ate this up like so many tacos at a street fair until Bruno entered and bowed.
Once again Bruno gave his name as “Ba-basurto” before deliberately inserting himself between the slimy creep and the lustful cook. He first tried to get Manuela to return to the kitchen. Having failed at that he introduced himself and Basurto shook his hand. Bruno finally suggested to Manuela that they repair to the kitchen and he led her out, ignoring her entreaties to Basurto to call for her if he needed anything. Basurto smiled as they exited. When they were out of the room he wasted no time berating them but instead turned his eyes back to the painting of Estefania.

Marguerita's Neighborhood: Marguerita thanked Fanny for coming to see her and asked her to reconsider her feelings for León. She kissed her goodbye and Fanny left. Marguerita then noticed that Fanny had left her cell phone, she picked it up and ran out, missing Fanny by a hair.
At that very moment Tamara arrived in her red car. She walked past Marguerita, saying she had come for her son. Marguerita followed her into the gated area.
León was in a cab, urging the driver to go faster. He knew what Tamara was trying to do.
She had just picked up the little boy, who asked where they were going.
She told him they were going “very far from here”, but Marguerita blocked the door. She tried to force Tamara to stay long enough to answer one question, but Tamara got the door open despite her efforts and ran out carrying Mauricio.

Meanwhile, Fanny was on her way to meet Ximena somewhere and she felt in her purse for her cell. She then realized she had left it behind, so she did a U-turn and headed back.
Tamara strapped Mauricio into the car seat, which gave Marguerita time to confront her. She told Marguerita that Mauricio was used to living without his father, who now wanted a divorce. Marguerita said it was because “he doesn't love you” but Tamara ignored everything beyond that. She got into the car and drove away without looking Marguerita in the eye.

Marguerita was calling for help when the cab pulled up and León got out. He asked what happened and she told him. The cab pulled away just as León was about to get back in and Fanny pulled up. She saw the panicked looks and he told her what happened. They had to follow Tamara.
She got into the shotgun side, Marguerita returned her cell phone, and León took the wheel. Marguerita prayed as they pulled away in hot pursuit.
Tamara must have been driving rather fast because Mauricio was frightened. He yelled to her to stop, that he wanted to see his father, and she yelled back to him to shut up and stop crying.
Finally she stopped for a red light and had flashbacks of her latest confrontations with León, ending with her threat to take Mauricio away forever.
Fanny's car was the second one behind hers and León got out and rapped on the window to get her attention. She looked up, then floored the accelerator.
Just as she was crossing the intersection a truck came from the right and ran right into the car. León shouted out his son's name in anguish. Fanny got out of the car, saying, “No, no!” León was almost doubled over as she ran up. He ran up to Tamara's car. The truck driver had gotten out of his vehicle and León told him that it was the woman's fault.
He opened the back door of the car and released the child from the car seat. He appeared to be unconscious, but a moment later he was blinking his eyes. A police car arrived almost immediately and the plainclothes cop looked at Tamara. Fanny took Mauricio and León went over to Tamara's car.
He asked how she was the the cop told him she didn't survive. He then directed a uniformed man to get the ambulance.
León backed up in shock, then went back to Fanny and Mauricio, embracing them both. No words were said.

Lascuráin Mansion: While Fanny and León waited for news in the hospital, Enrique was still standing in the same spot in front of the portrait until Fernando came downstairs to join him in a drink. A few words were exchanged about marriage and children, disclosing that despite the difference in their lives Fernando and Enrique are about the same age. Enrique speculated that Fernando's recent marriage would be good for the children, but Fernando told him it was not proving to be so. Enrique seemed very interested.

I'm afraid Fernando has a boundary issue of his own,” said Athena. “He has spent so much of his life working he has no friends.”

I don't think he can recognize a true one,” said Hera. “He doesn't realize he can't trust this man. But then he has yet to recognize that he can't trust his wife.”

I wish Don Nico hadn't gone out this evening,” said Demeter. “He would be able to see through this mass of slime.”

Seven?” Enrique sounded impressed with that. Fernando started to say something about “You've only met my oldest daughter, but...” and Enrique seemed embarrassed at his earlier blunder. He started to say she seems very intelligent and Fernando said “She is but – of course – I'm her father!” Then Enrique commented that Fanny was also very, very pretty.
Fernando was creeped out, but may not have realized it.

I imagine there are many young men pursuing her,” Enrique said.

Well, she's had a disappointment recently and it has greatly affected her,” Fernando said. “You may have heard something at the office.”

Enrique clearly hadn't, so he asked what happened.

Fernando, Fernando, when are you going to learn?” Aphrodite said in frustration. “I guess you will have to learn the hard way that there are people you can't confide in.”

He's on what the mortals' police now call a fishing expedition,” said Poseidon. “He's as slippery as an eel.”

Hospital: León just found out that Mauricio was alright. He had been very upset during the time he hadn't seen him. He was also upset that Tamara died. Fanny tried to help him feel better when her cell rang and she saw Ana's number. She stepped away to take the call.
She asked Ana not to tell her father, but then explained what happened. When she explained that Tamara died, Ana started packing up her sewing materials and telling her she would be right there. Fanny told her it wasn't necessary. León may have lied to her but he needed her now.
Ana finally backed off, wondering at the bizarre situation.

Lascuráin Mansion: Isabruja scolded her mother over the necklace incident, calling her out on using a novela plot line to deceive Fernando. Yolanda said it would have worked perfectly well, but Isabruja said she was obliged to take Fernando's side in the dispute because he was her husband. Yolanda started her “your poor mother” act and Isabitch lost patience with her.

But don't you want to destroy the nanny?”
Yes, I want to break her into pieces but it needs to be done intelligently. But things have to change. This marriage has to work. Fernando has to be happy. And the first thing that has to happen is for you to apologize to him.”

That went over like a lead balloon. When Yolanda whined Isabitch told her she would do that or “get out of my house.” Yolanda didn't like that one bit.

Nando and Ximena were in the parlour with Fernando, who introduced them to Enrique. He asked if they were staying for dinner, but Nando said they were going out unless that was a problem. He said they were going dancing with Diego and Ana. Fernando didn't like that, but didn't say so. Enrique became curious about Ana, who came down the stairs just at that moment. She took a sharp left turn and circled around before facing Fernando, only to not like the way Enrique was looking at her when they were introduced.
She shook his hand reluctantly. She then formally requested permission to go out, explaining that the children are all in their pjs and in bed. Fernando nodded and Nando asked where Diego was. She led him and Ximena out as she tried coming up with the answer. Fernando looked after them for a second, then asked “So what were we talking about?”

The competition,” said Enrique.

Fernando was distracted by the thought of Ana dancing with Diego, but covered by wondering when Isabitch was going to join them.

Chicago Club: Johnny went back to Doroteo's office to pitch his comedy routine idea. Doroteo rolled his eyes, reminding Johnny what a failure he is. There were a few henchmen in black clothes present.
Doroteo reminded Johnny that he was his slave and not to forget that. Undaunted, Johnny did some lame “A guy walks into a bar” jokes which fell as flat as a flour tortilla, but Doroteo promised him half an hour. They would talk about money later. Johnny walked out.

The chorus girls did a half-hearted number in the half-empty club room as Johnny came out to tell Jennifer the good news.
He hugged her and she asked how much he was going to be paid. He said he thought he'd get his basic pay, but she knew better than that.
Nicolás arrived in time to see the hug and he was not happy. Neither was Diana, who was dancing on the platform.

Hospital: León explained that Tamara had no other family and her mother had recently died. Fanny took her leave of León and Marguerita. It was painful for both her and León.

Salsa Club: Ana, Diego, Nando, and Ximena sat together at two small tables. Ximena pulled Nando on the dance floor and had no idea that three predators were watching them.
Ana was distracted, finally telling Diego she was worried about Fanny.

Lascuráin Mansion: Bruno served some drinks, saying he would check on dinner. As he left there was some polite small talk about Isabruja's pregnancy, which she said was nine weeks along.

So that makes eight.”

Eight, as you can see,” Fernando said. Isabruja held onto him possessively and asked Enrique when he would marry and have a family.

I'm a confirmed bachlor,” he said.

But you've had affairs, surely?” asked Fernando.

Not right now, but I've had an offer.”

Really? What kind?” asked Isabruja.

He went on about how he was dedicated to his professional success, which will come at the expense of the heart. Both Fernando and Isabruja looked a little uncomfortable.

Didn't some mortal genius once say that to rule the world one must forswear love forever?” Hermes asked.

Yes. His name was Richard Wagner,” said Poseidon. “He was right.  And if we don't watch out that can also affect us.”

So you just haven't met the right woman?” asked Fernando.

Yes, you could say that,” he answered. As Fernando began to make some statement about love, Fanny came in quietly. Fernando could see that something was very wrong, so he went over to her. Enrique looked up but Isabela distracted him by saying they should allow them a little privacy.
Fernando knew that this had something to do with León, but Fanny didn't want to talk about it. Fernando just reassured her that he loved her and let her go upstairs. Although she didn't roll her eyes publicly, Isabitch was thinking it.

Chicago Club: The chorus girls danced, looking thoroughly bored with what they were doing. Jennifer was tending the bar and she knew something was up with Nick. “I know you,” she said, “what's on your mind?” He immediately told her that he felt jealous when he saw her embracing Johnny.

Salsa Club: Ximena was having a good time dancing with Nando, who was becoming aware of the predators lurking at another table.
Diego was confused at Ana's attitude because she couldn't do anything to help Fanny, but she explained to him that she feels for the kids. Their problems become her problems. Finally she said she'd call Fanny to check up on her and she'll be right back. She got up from the table. Diego sighed a little and looked over at the other two kids.
Nando was getting nervous.

Chicago Club: Jennifer reassured Nick that she loved him and that Johnny was only a friend. A friend since childhood, like a relative. He's having a hard time now and is very confused.
“Do you think he's in love with me?” she asked. Nick nodded.

Salsa Club: Fanny told Ana on the phone that León was having a hard time. He resigned his job in the morning an now this. He will have a tough time raising Mauricio without a mother. She asked how things were going and Ana told her she was at a club with Diego. She told her to have a good time before they ended the call.

Hospital: León had to explain to little Mauricio that his mother had gone to Heaven but that he would be with him all the time.
He cried as he explained this and leaned over his child. Marguerita cried at the other end of the room.

Lascuráin Mansion: Yolanda asked Fernando for five minutes and he said they'd talk in the library. After he slid the door closed behind them, Enrique sat on the armrest of Isabruja's couch and asked
“And are you so sure that it's Fernando's baby?”
She shushed him discreetly and said, “Actually, it could be yours.”

In the library, Fernando stood over Yolanda as she tried to apologize. She acknowledged that it was a stupid thing to do. He sat on the opposite couch asking, “What hasn't been explained is why you would accuse one of my employees of theft. Why would you want to hurt Ana?”

Neither of us are fools,” Yolanda said. “You had a thing for her, didn't you? You're not going to deny that?”

No. I won't deny it. But it was in the past.”
Is it really in the past?”

He stared at her.
Outside in the parlour Enrique laughed. “No, that can't be. How could you be confused about who made you pregnant?”

It was the timing. I only did it with him once and you many times.”

And it didn't please you to do it again?”

She gave him a look of surprise. “Why? Fernando doesn't doubt that the baby is his. That's what's important.” She paused a second. “Oh, don't tell me you've become paternal.”

No. It's of no importance whether the baby is mine or Fernando's. I know you.” He caressed her hair carefully. “Aren't you even a little bit curious?”

Salsa Club: Ana and Diego took over the floor and had a few spectators. She did a floor move out of her club routine. She suggested they switch partners with Ximena and Nando, so they did.
She was looking to talk to Nando to check up on him. He did seem a little ill at ease [if anyone else can fill in the conversation please help.] as they talked about relationships. Finally he let it out: “I know my father still loves you.”
Ana looked surprised. She tried to change the subject, but Nando said that eternal loves are always the hardest.

Love should be eternal,” said Aphrodite.

You're a fine one to say that,” said Hera. “You've caused enough trouble for all of us over love.”

I wasn't talking about infatuation. But I will speak to my son about this. Most of the time he's responsible for those problems.”

Lascuráin Mansion: Yolanda claimed to be sorry for what she had done and promised Fernando that she would treat Ana with all the respect she deserves. He looked suspicious at first but accepted her apology. They shook hands.

Salsa Club: Ana and Diego talked at their table, she refused to tell him about her conversation with Fanny. Nando was getting tired on the dance floor and told Ximena he'd like to sit the next one out.
The lead predator, Skinhead, made a come-on remark to Ximena. She tried to tell him off, but he got up. Nando punched him in the mouth, knocking him down. He got up along with his two wingmen and shoved Nando along with an insulting remark. He punched Nando in the stomach only to get punched back by Diego.
Ana grabbed Ximena's jacket and purse and led her out.
Diego helped Nando up, grabbed his jacket, and said “Let's go.” As they left, the skinhead said “I'm going to break your face, infeliz.”

Lascuráin Mansion: Fernando indicated to Bruno that Yolanda would be joining the dinner table. Bruno said he would be only a moment to take care of this; she would be seated next to Enrique. He then seated Isabruja to his left in her usual place.

Street: Ana et al ran from the club, Diego commenting that he thought they'd lost the thugs. Ximena thought this very exciting. Diego was amused.
Nando was still trying to get over it, and Ana was not amused by any of this. Ximena kissed Nando for his courage (although he gave due credit to his uncle) and someone said something about not being able to go back yet for the car.
Diego suggested they go out for tacos. This was unanimously approved.

Chicago Club: Jennifer explained about Johnny being evicted and she took him in because of his help after the storm. She told Nick she loved him. They kissed.

Lascuráin Mansion: Dinner must have gone smoothly; Fernando, Isabimbo, and Enrique were in the parlour. Enrique thanked them, saying he will have to return the invitation. Fernando told him he'd see him bright and early the next day at the office. Isabimbo said she would escort him to his car. Fernando went upstairs to check on the children as the other two went outside.
Did it go alright with Fanny?”

Yes, but it's a long-term plan.”

What kind?”

You know what would please me most?” he asked.
He grabbed her as though he were Rudolph Valentino in a silent movie. She did not resist. They kissed in a way she would never get Fernando to.

Let's hope that at least two of the kids are looking out the window,” Hermes said. “This looks like they planned to set Fernando up for a double whammy.”

Pond of slime, indeed. Both of them.” Poseidon said. “They had better not be planning a cruise anytime soon.”

Comments:
Urban, thanks for such an enjoyable read tonight. Great comment about the Suavitel! The ongoing commentary from Mt. Olympus cracked me up. It would have been great if a couple of the kids witnessed the smarmy kiss.

Lots of info and positioning with a little plot movement in this one.

Wow! That was a very convenient way to get rid of Tamara. Looks like the road is wide open for Fanny's return. Probably better for her to go down this road and be less vulnerable to whatever Enrique has in store.

It was like Fernando was giving Enrique way too much info about himself and his family while Enrique gave him no info about himself. From the conversations between Isabela and Enrique we know for sure that Enrique and Isabela are lovers and she only slept once with Fernando one time. She is only 9 weeks pregnant so we will be waiting a good while until she looks it.

I loved the club scene and brawl.

Jarifa

OMG
I think we learned two things during this episode:

1) The baby maybe (probably) is Enrique's. One time versus many times.

2) Looks like Enrique is going to go after Fanny. How horrible!

Did I miss something? Did Enrique know Fernando's wife before she passed away?

Victoria, it was weird how they made a point that he was looking at mamá Fanny's portrait. Looks like he is just going to be full of surprises.

Jarifa

It only takes one time, but when Isabitch saw the positive test result she was counting back the weeks. She isn't sure by a long shot.

You didn't miss anything; I think Enrique has history somehow with Estefania. As for what that is, we'll see. For him to go after Fanny, however, would be disgusting.

Urban Thank you for the recap.

I just love this Greek myth theme! Although I think somebody better tell Demeter that Yolanda doesn’t need any coercion to make and do evil.

And these line gave me a chuckle :

“In their language 'baba surto' means an anchored pool of slime.”
“Really?” Aphrodite smiled. “How apt.”

Coming off of LQLVMR I was waiting for someone to say-- wait, Tamara's breathing! It seemed weird to me that they could dump her that quickly. Boy that way they do whatever you call that thing they do in the Maze with the credits, you would think we were in with Tamara for the long haul.

I still hate the way that Yomama and Isabruja are running around that place (and can you imagine being a son-in-law who's MIL just makes herself comfy all the time in YOUR bed on YOUR SIDE of the bed?! Knowing that would be a cold shower, not that Fer seems to need one of those), BUT I did think it was right that Yomama called him on his real feelings. On the other mano, why couldn't Fer have just said, "You're right. Your daughter knows I'm not in love with her and I only married her for the baby, and I'm doing the best I can. Oh, and by the way, given that that is the true situation, maybe you both could just back the hell off of me and my staff!" (I feel that I should say that I didn't mean that in a double entendre kinda way, although I guess it works in the case of his wife!

Hope that last line didn't offend anyone!
Rebecca

I actually thought that they screwed up on the accident scene. The truck hit the passenger side of the car, so Tamara shouldn't have died.

BTW, Bruno's malapropism was translated correctly. And did anyone else notice the look on Ana's face at the sight of Enrique?

Maybe Lizard gives Ana the creeps like me (no disrespect to animal lovers).

Thanks, Urban, for the Monday night treat with the full story, the photos, and the goddesses too!

I wondered about Tamara's death when the truck hit the passenger side. Maybe the impact snapped her neck. Whatever, it was a very convenient demise and a solution to Leon's most pressing problem.

UA, thanks so much! This was a big episode and your recap was an absolute joy. Special thanks for the translation of Baba surto. Funny!

I agree with Rebecca: as much time as Tamara has in the opening credits, I thought she would be around making trouble for quite awhile. She was hardly around longer than Bruno's mama.

Did anyone catch Ana's comment after Diego asks if anyone wants tacos...Ana looks over at Nando and Xime who are busy kissing and says "tacos de lengua" (tongue tacos).

J in Oregon

I was disappointed once more in Fernando and his talk with Yolanda. He should have demanded that she apologize to Ana. After all, Ana was the one set up and accused of being a thief. She was the one truly slighted in all of that.

I agree. I'll take that another step further and say that I think he should have suggested to Isabitch that Yolanda live elsewhere. The way she just barged in right after they left on the honeymoon should not have been let go.

Thank you, Urban and Olympians, for the excellent recap!

Baba Surto? Leal? It appears tn writers like to use allegorical names. Cool!

I apologize for mentioning this ridiculous point again, but I still find it incongruous that Enfrique Baba Surto and Isabruja, two highly intelligent Harvard MBAs, do not use contraceptives. (Beanie, please.) Regardless, Enfrique as sperm donor provides Fernan-duh with a way out of the marriage-from-Hades.

Unfortunately, the rest of the world will have to live knowing the Enfrique-Isabruja spawn exists in its gene pool. I guess this poor child is predestined to be a tn villain one day.

Was it me, or did Fanny Sr.'s portrait look like it scowled at Enfrique?

Have a great day on the patio, All!

Awesome UA and so very, very clever

“Pond of slime, indeed. Both of them.” Poseidon said. “They had better not be planning a cruise anytime soon.”

Oh yeah, Ana's pervdar picked out Icky Ricky right away

Thank god Tamara strapped the boy in but Leon is partially to blame for her death banging on the window while she at a stop light.

Luz was a little doll again last night.

Diego doesn't understand Ana's mothering instinct and her love for the children and doubt he ever will.

Urban, I am loving your recaps. I smile ear to ear all the way through. Your humor is simply splendid and inspired.

“In their language 'baba surto' means an anchored pool of slime” and "He's on what the mortals' police now call a fishing expedition,” said Poseidon. “He's as slippery as an eel were among my favorites as was this little Hera/Aphrodite exchange “But you were away during the engagement party.”

And now from the high to the low.

How do you try and make your audience forget that the loathsome Leon lied to innocent Fanny, professing his love and devotion while he had a wife and child? Why you kill his wife off naturally in a truly gruesome manner. Now of course, we are supposed to feel sorry for him and forget what he did, allowing her death to pave the way for he and Fanny to be together. Not so fast...First, I try not to speak ill of the dead so must say that we never really got the chance to see Tamara's side of the story. Yes, she was wrong to run again but she did not deserve her hideous death.

Rebecca, I guess it would have been too much to ask to have Tamara alive so things could be sorted out in an adult manner, but..that was not to be. Blech.

Victoria, I am shuddering along with you and others that Enrique will now go after Fanny.

Rebecca, yes, Yolanda was pretty shrewd to call Fer on the fact he still cares about Ana. He is married to her daughter after all. I don't think he sees who Isa really is - he simply doesn't want to.

None of the kids who are usually all over anything Isa saw the kiss?? Hard to believe. And also, how utterly careless. Isa may have dodged a bullet this time, but she would be wise to be more clandestine next time.

So is Nico going to propose already? This is interminable. Jen doesn't love Johnny. Pop the question dude.

J, thanks for the delightful tidbit "Ana looks over at Nando and Xime who are busy kissing and says "tacos de lengua" (tongue tacos)".

Urban, your screen shots were perfect as always. Another extraordinary recap.

Diana

UA, I don't remember word for word but the Nando/Ana convo in the club was about Ana saying she was going to give herself a chance (with Diego) since his dad was lost to her... and he was trying to make her just hold on a little longer, Nando was trying to reassure her that Fernando still loves her, but what is that supposed to guarantee for her? so she insisted that she could not sit and wait for (who knows how long). so
J, great catch with the 'tacos de lengua'.. LOL!! i missed that!

now I am afraid Enrique will somehow find out about Ana's night life and will blackmail her by having her 'date' him.... I wonder if they will just make Diego go away in another trip.

I agree, Diana,
I don't think he sees who Isa really is - he simply doesn't want to.

I agree about Jennifer and Nico... Propose to her already!!

and it was too funny how Bruno got jealous when Manuela was drooling for Enrique and decisively stepped in between them.

the previews showed a kind of paranoic Isa trying to get Fernando to push Ana out to sleep elsewhere... she should know better... look what happened last time Ana left... is Isa willing to tend to the little ones in the middle of the night or let Fernando leave their room?

I so look forward to our Greek goddesses and their insight every week!! UA, you just rock this over and over. SO enjoyable!

I'll go with the "color me surprised" at the Tamara end. The minute she got in the car, I knew they were going to do an accident, but didn't think it meant killing her off. I actually thought she would be injured in a way that Leon would be feel guilty and not pursue a divorce, etc. Wonder if Fanny will try to get him his job back...

The fact that Enrique is thinking of pursuing Fanny is just disgusting. She's a smart girl, and I hope she confides in Ana what is happening if he starts coming on to her. Fer will be clueless as always, but Ana would step in. She already has a good read on the guy it seems. That little "competition" quip was funny though.

But really? Enrique staring at the portrait? If it turns out he was in lurrrvvv with Fanny Sr. too my beanie will implode. And if that turns out to be his revenge motive, someone better put a protector on the TV screen. As for he and Isa-- match made in...well you know. Poor baby.

Speaking of child--little Mauricio was such a good little actor last night. Lord, what these kids are put thru in these shows. I so want to see a Mauricio/Luz play date, I can't stand it. The cuteness factor would be off the charts.

Still don't like Ximena and Nando together. They just look odd. Hoping that cretin from the club doesn't go to the same university though.

Again, all things Johny bore me to tears. Why must we endure him?

Daisynjay

I don't think we should blame Leon for Tamara's death. Their history isn't good, but I have no sense of domestic violence coming from it.

She was a bitch to try to take the child away again, but that doesn't mean that she deserved to die this way. She was obsessed with trying to get him back despite the fact that he didn't love her. If this is a preview of coming attractions for Isabruja, the payoff will be much later.

Other points:

EB, that's a great one about how Enfrique and Isabitch were careless. Maybe a broken condom was the cause? Neither of them look like they ever wanted to be parents so one would think they'd use two methods at once.

Which also makes me wonder why Enfrique didn't get a vasectomy long before this.

Tofie, you've got another great one. Diego isn't a paternal type at all. He does seem to be a good (as well as cool) uncle while he's under his brother's roof and he does love Fernando's children. He has potential but also a long way to go. Considering that he's supposed to be 40 (PM's current age) he needs to make some decisions.

As for Ana giving him a chance, the chemistry is there. However, she is supposed to end up with Fernando so there needs to be a chick waiting for Diego in the wings.

Marta, perfection on the issue of Ana no longer sleeping in the mansion. That would hurt Luz very badly and would not be good for the other kids. Isabitch has no maternal instincts at all.

However, that may be the only way Fernando learns this.

DaisynJay, totally agree with your comments about Enrique/Fanny/Leon and Mau and Luz... cuteness off the charts indeed! i still have in my face Luz's smiles exchange with Ana as she and Ana were enjoying the YoMama and Isa scam backfiring on them ...

UA, Brilliant! I just love the idea of the goddesses looking on wisely and trying to figure out these silly (some sillier than others) mortals. Great screen caps. Many, many thanks.

I loved the conversation between Nando and Ana, tough as it was to catch, as it showed their friendship. Ana has done a great job establishing a different kind of relationship with these older kids. I did think that Nando said that "eternal loves are always the shortest". I may have misheard, because I wanted it to sound even more profound! Love Nando, bow ties and all.

I fear he is stuck with Ximena for a while, any way. I have wondered whether she is the dark-haired beauty with Diego win the bumper they sometimes show. That would be a double-hit - hurting both Nando and Ana. Again, may be advancing the plot in my mind where it is not going.

I hate it that Nico's jealousy of Johnny (Good Lord) may well get in the way of moving along the marriage. I love novelas that seem to go in a cliched direction and then DON'T. This novela has not yet missed a trick in the cliche department, though I am enjoying it anyway.

Trav lady...
I love novelas that seem to go in a cliched direction and then DON'T.
ita, when Jen went to the point with Nico to tell him she loved HIM and with Johnny she just had a 'friends/siblings' relationship since they were kids, i thought it nipped it in the bud but i guess the fact that he questioned it kind of hurt her.

I still think Brianna is the right girl for Nando. Neither of these two girls are in the Maze, so I guess Nando might be going away to college at some point.

Not to mention that they're too young for the FPS.

I'm giving Nic a little break with the Juan jealously thing. I think he believes his age makes him vulnerable to a man Jenny's age (not Juan though). Juan was all up in her grill and wearing that moon face. Wasn't that long ago Jenny was slightly jealous when she saw Yomama (of all people) pursuing Nic.

Tick, Tock, Ximena. When this one explodes its gonna make a big mess.

I'm with Diana about the punk Leon and it takes killing his wife and hurting his child in an attempt to garner sympathy for him and his cause. Hes a punk liar and the hurt is all over Fanny in her face and her walk. Girl is crushed and weakened enough for the next slimeball to take advantage of her with a lie or two or three.

Fernando again rolling over for Isabella and her mama. Wimp Great play by Yomama though, shut him up and also put him on notice the both of them have their eye on him.

As to Tamara's departure I wonder whether the actress got an offer she couldn't refuse. It does seem premature to get rid of her now whether or not Fanny is supposed to end up with Leon.

Who has a lot of growing up to do just as she does. I suspect he grew up without a father (Can anyone recall him ever talking about one?).

I'm waiting for what happens with Alicia's quince. I suspect it won't be pretty.

Not sure if anyone is still interested, but I'm posting the HPLP lists for last week's eps. I would have posted yesterday, but forgot to bring my notes on Friday's ep to work.

Fantastic as always but thought "Nando should probably not still be seeing Xi. He’s too young to take on that responsibility" was particularly poignant.

Thanks, UA! Delightful read. I love the peek behind the Mount Olympus curtain.

Well. We certainly got that antagonista out of the way quickly. I don't think Leon is at all to blame for her death. That's as nonsensical as blaming rape victims because of their clothes. She was just crazy and overreactive.

I hope Fanny doesn't get back together with Leon, but I'm glad she helped him and stayed at the hospital with him. She still should be mad at him for lying to her, but I think it's good that she was mature enough to know that it wasn't the time or the place for those issues.

I loved how Ana and Nando were carrying on a serious conversation while doing spazzy dance moves. Also liked her tacos de lengua joke.

It was definitely weird how Tricky Icky Ricky was staring at Fanny Sr.'s portrait. Did he have a thing for her, too, back in the day, and twenty years later has come back for "revenge" on Fer? What if he's actually Fanny Jr.'s father?!?! That would be a huge gross twist. He's such a creep.

I'm hoping that someone does see Isa and Enfrique sucking tonsils. One of the kids, one of the staff, Ana and Diego and Nando arriving home...someone.

I also thought Fer was being a spineless pushover with Yomama. He should have laid down the law. First, insisted that she apologize to Ana. Second, something along the lines of "look, witch. Everyone knows I don't love your daughter and only married her because of the baby. Also, I don't have to let you live here or pay off your debts. And don't you and Isa even try to threaten me with taking my child away, because I am rich and powerful enough to have you followed anywhere and to win and enforce a custody battle, and it's not going to be that hard to prove Isa is an unfit mother. So shape up or ship out."

(Can anyone recall him ever talking about one?).

I recall leon telling Fanny that all he knows of his dad was his name, and that the dad was never present in his growing up.

Oh, and add to what Fer should have said to Yolo: "And stop demanding service from Bruno. You may eat the meals Manuela serves to the family at mealtimes. If you want anything else, get it yourself."

Yes; Leon has never known his father. I wonder if Margarita even knew much about him. Maybe Leon learned to keep secrets from her.

The ONLY reason I would accept Fanny getting back together with Leo the Lyin' is if it helps keep Enfrique off her. But really I think we need a new galan to step into the show for Fanny.

Why did Isa look so smug when she was telling Frique that the baby might be his?

One thing I thought was funny was when Enfrique was claiming that he never married or had a family because he was so focused on career success. It was quite gracious of Fer not to point out that he got married and had a gazillion kids and yet STILL is more successful in his career than Reeky.

I guess I'm not looking to blame Leon for that crash and Tamara's untimely passing. I think she was too elusive of a character to pin this on him all, and without a true back-story to explain how she could have just walked out and no word for an entire year which built his disdain and resentment ( nor know what her mother was like), there is equal blame on these individuals. Both were too young and not ready to start a family, a young woman who probably didn't know how to function on her own and wanted to lash out when her illusions were ruined, and a young man who met his true love AFTER the fact and acted rashly and angrily in turn. Tragic, but not a bad PSA to show how things can go so wrong with this type of relationship and responsibility so young.

Honestly, I worry Ximena is another Tamara. What would happen if Nando tried to leave her? She has a very legitimate mental health issue, but if not treated well, could be a danger to himself or to her, or both.

As for the Hello, contraceptives!! issue we keep getting on these TN's. I do chuckle though remembering a very promising young business woman I worked with who was dating a rather young, again up and coming, prominent lawyer/politician in town. She came in one day very quiet and as we were having lunch with another co=worker she just blasted out "so, guess what. I'm pregnant...me, the "Not mother of the year" candidate." After we picked our jaws up off the floor, the inevitable same question came out " didn't you take care"...and she laughed. "My doctor looked at me and said, you know that 1% that all contraceptive companies report on accuracy and effectiveness. Welcome to the 1%". She turned out to be a fabulous mother...

But unfortunately with TN's, They are just stupid, I swear.

Daisynjay

Daisynjay

Contraceptives can fail, but I wonder if Isa was maybe deliberately not being careful because she was trying to trap Enrique before she gave up on him and went after Fer instead. As to why HE wouldn't be more careful...he's probably one of those jerks who thinks it's the woman's job to deal with it, and if she gets pregnant, she should get an abortion or whatever, not his problem.

Julia, I agree with your theory about Enfrique. The only responsibility I see him taking is for his own ambition.

I also wonder whether he is from money and his parents got the gold-digger vibe from Isabruja... or knew about her mother.

Or realized that both of them are sociopaths.

Another awesome recap Urban!

Must say I am with Rebecca and surprised Tamara has left so soon. Maybe the writers had written themselves too much into a corner and couldn't figure out a logical way to get out.

Enrique does seem to know Fanny major as he couldn't stop staring at her pic. Another man's heart she broke?

I was disappointed to not see Ana and Diego do some neat salsa moves.

I thought this was supposed to be a comedy but the tragedies keep ratcheting up. This family just lost their mother a year+ ago and have gone through such hard times. Seems unfair that they have to continue to suffer bec of Isabruja and Enrique.

Thanks for the recap UA. The pics were great and I enjoyed the gods dialogue as well.

Like Rebecca and others, I am shocked Tamera is gone.

Also creeped out by Icky Ricky going for Fanny Jr and playing tonsil hockey w/Isa.

Thanks Nanette for the highs and lows of the tn!

I am surprised that Tamara is gone so soon but also relieved we don't have to go through the whole child custody divorce plot.

Jarifa

UA: great recap. Thanks for the continued channeling of the Gods and Goddesses. I'm starting to make a list so I can do some research on the ones I'm not as familiar with.

Diana: thank you. I liked that Nando decided to stand by her. Shows what great character he has. But, like I said, too young for that responsibility. She was a bit manic at the club.

They pulled a Diana (DQTQ2) with Tamara. Maybe the obstacle will be EB, now like it was Rod in DQ.

I can't believe we're just 1/4 of the way through this one. Where in the heck is this going? I admit, I'm a little bored with it. Not with the acting, but it just doesn't seem to be moving very fast.

Nanette

Karen: you're welcome.

Fernando was blind for the year after the death of his wife.

He has been blind to the upbringing of his children for probably their whole lives.

He is blind to the shenanigan and maliciousness of both the Brujas.

He is blind to the money grabbing instincts of his social climbing wife.

He is blind to the hurt he caused his brother, and did nothing to repair the hurt during 20 some odd years and didn't move a figure as his wife plead with him to do before she died.

He has a narrow and rigid personality and hss neen oblivious to the needs of those around him.

He must walk around with blinders.

But, hopefully he is starting to change. One can hope.

per the previews he keeps thanking Ana for being there for ALL of them... how about taking action too, buddy?? Ana could certainly use some help and you are the 'father' so BE the father.

I was disappointed by the way Fer handled Isa's debt problems on the previous episode. She's supposed to be a brilliant management type! How could he not even ask how and why she got into so much debt? Or why she hadn't felt the need to cut back on expenses if she was having money problems. Her lack of financial responsibility is now going to be Fer's problem, and she could bankrupt him if he isn't careful, since her only money strategy seems to be Spend, Spend, Spend.

He should have suggested that she deal with the debt by continuing to work until the baby is born, at least. Either for another company, or at a new position at his company where she can't affect the finances! Or sell off her jewelry.

I hope the kids appreciate their piddling allowances that come out of Ana's salary, because that's probably the only inheritance they will see from their father, who is going to let Isabruja and Yomama drain him dry.

I don't think Leon is at all responsible for Tamara's death. She is the one who took off in a speeding car with a young, terrified child strapped in the backseat.

She is the one who floored the gas pedal at the stoplight and didn't consider the consequences as a responsible parent and driver should. She just thought about herself.

Think how many more people could have been killed at that intersection because of her reckless and irresponsible behavior. What about a van full with a family and kids?

Tofie I don't give her a pass at all. Reckless drivers are their own worst enemy but take others with them.

Julia: it looked to me like Fer was about to say something more to Isa when she started thanking him and sliming on him. I don't think he meant to pay for everything--just help out. He definitely should have said something later. When the wedding bills show up, maybe he will.

Victoria, I agree with your whole list except one item, which was about Diego.

Estefania's choice was involved here. She chose Fernando over Diego. Fernando is not the sort to steal a woman's affections from any other man, especially his own brother. However, his failure to mend fences with Diego over that is consistent with the rest of his relatively unemotional behavior. Estefania herself is not without blame in that situation because there were 20 years in which to do something about it.

Based on the flashbacks we have seen it looks like Estefania was the only person who ever really saw Fernando's emotional side. He had to have been sure she loved him before showing that to her. He shut it down when she died.

Julia, you are on the money (he-he) about the way Fernando handled the debt issue. He should tell Isabruja point blank that he isn't responsible for any of her debts prior to the marriage and should immediately take away her credit cards. She should be paying that back herself and should not have allowed Yomama to get her hands on the plastic.

Of course, there is no pre-nup or we would have heard about it.

I agree Fer isn't to blame for FannyMama choosing him over Diego. That was her choice. Even if he'd declined, that doesn't mean she'd have married Diego instead, as she apparently didn't love him that much.

HOWEVER, Fer has not exactly been a gracious winner. He's always putting Diego down for being a wanderer and not having a wife and kids, despite knowing that was what Diego wanted with FannySr.

Are we sure about that, though?

On the assumption that JS and PM are playing characters of the same age as themselves, I doubt that Diego was old enough 22 years ago to make a decision like that or for anyone to believe it if he was already a player. Which he still is.

I see Nando as a junior version of his dad, which is why they have the same name. Nando isn't going to be a player either; he will only date seriously and he will marry someone he truly loves. I can see Fernando or Diego someday giving him a copy of The Joy of Sex (or similar) for learning about how to please his ladylove. Whom I hope will be more like Brianna.

What I think needs to happen for Nando is to learn to loosen up a little now before he spends years in a deep freeze.

I think Diego was probably too young at that time to have already been labeled a player. Maybe he'd had a few girlfriends or flings, but at that point it would have been normal young-person dating around, not a pattern of being a player. Possibly also too young to have REALLY known he wanted to be with FannySr. for life, or to be a good husband, but I don't think that's entirely relevant. Whatever might have happened had things gone differently, he BELIEVED that he was super duper long-term in love with her, and Fer never hesitates to rub it in his face that he is the one who wasn't chosen.

I think it's normal for there to be some kind of competitive thing with same-sex sibs. I'm glad I never had to live with it, though.

Could it be that Fernando was The Nerd while Diego was The Dreamboat? Which would put him light-years ahead of Sebas in comparison with Nando.

Nando needs to shed the specs for contacts, lose the hair product, and lose the bowties. When Ximena showed up with a necktie rather than a bowtie for the wedding she was on to that.

I like the glasses and bowties, but I agree about the hair product. Blech. Wash that out.

I think Diego could stand to be a little less scruffy, though.

And I thought it odd that Ana chose to wear a cowl-neck sweater to go salsa dancing. If they'd stayed and danced longer, she would have been sweating profusely.

Thanks for mentioning Ana's clothes in that scene. Salsa should be an occasion for sleeveless or cap-sleeve dresses just to or just below the knee, 2-inch heels, and good support hose.

And Diego does need to shave. I don't get why Pablo Montero doesn't shave anymore when he looks so much better without the stubble.

Urban and Julia:
I didn't mean to imply that Fernando was responsible for Fanny Sr. choosing him over Diego. Just that he did nothing to repair the rift over the years or after the death of his wife.

I suspect that the rift from Diego's side could have as much to do with sibling rivalry and jealously as the fact that Diego felt that Fernando stole his girl. Diego was the younger, more carefree and rambunctious one. Fernando on the other hand took after his father and maybe Diego felt that Fernando was more loved.

Pablo Montero seems like one of those guys whose thick hair grows so fast that he'd need to shave four times a day to maintain a clean-shaven look for filming continuity. Maybe they didn't think it worth the trouble for this role since the character is a casual dude who isn't terribly concerned about appearances? Or maybe it's just trendy still? But I think he should clean up a little more, at least.

WOW,

Quiero Amarte is on Hulu!

Well we know Isa doesn't have a heart, and Enrique knows that too, which probably means he doesn't either. But it would be a nice joke if he started to feel and switched sides on her. She deserves to lose everything.

Isa must really trust Reeky to tell him the baby might be his and not worry he'll wreck things for her with Fernando. Why does she trust him so much? What's their deal?

Maybe Enrique didn't pay Isa's debt because she already owes him for something else. Maybe that's why she has brought him in. To repay that debt to him by letting him sabotage the company, possibly to take Fer's job or fleece money. Maybe that is why Isa trusts him not to tell Fer the truth about the baby. (Lots of maybes I know!)

The "salsa dancing" made me chuckle. But it looks like Ximena might know how to dance if someone could lead her.

Too early to call this perfectly, but I'm guessing that Enfrique's family might have had older money and therefore snubbed her. I'm sure she realized that he isn't the marrying kind; she may have had to learn the hard way. Which would mean that he has something to blackmail her on.

Which if he didn't before he does now.

I suspect he will begin playing her sooner rather than later.

I doubt that he knows about her debts. I'm sure she overspent in order to impress him just as much as she continued doing so to impress others she wants to have as part of her life.

His revenge could be on her by ruining La Costena or Fernando personally. However I have to wonder whether ruining the company would be a problematic plot point for the sponsor.

Victoria - ITA regarding Fernan-duh's blindness.

Urban and Julia - Forgive me. While I agree with 99.9% of your comments, I disagree with you about Diego's appearance: I totally dig his scruffy look! I would pack my rucksack and travel the world with him in a New-York minute!

Was anyone else worried that Ximena would drink in the club and there would be a bad interaction with any bipolar meds she might be taking?

What's the legal drinking age in Mexico, anyway?
