TELEMUNDO Y MÁS: THE FRONT PAGE -- El Señor de los Cielos II, En Otra Piel, et cetera, week of September 1, 2014
En Otra Piel chugs along. We rejoice when something happens and imagine horrible endings for evil Elena.
Enjoy!
Labels: cielos, piel, telemundo
I have to post this early, since I won't have time tomorrow. And it'll be short.
Rutila is NOT happy with Ernie, he lied to her. Only a little, he counters. She continues, there's no way she's going to live this life, Chema is not the answer. She doesn't want her boyfriend to be an assassin. He wants some nookie, but she's not in the mood. We then see that Chema has a hidden camera, and is watching this whole thing. Chema tells Toro he's going to try to be Mr. Nice Guy, charm Rutila. In the morning, Ernie asks if Ruti loves her. Of course, she replies. Then since we're now free, let's prove it, he suggests, and they start to make love, still being watched by Chema. But Chema has Toro interrupt them.
Andrews is there, too. He warns Chema that AC's men are in the area. Chema says fine, that'll bring AC himself. Andrews says not that same old thing again, AC is dead, but Toro shows him the picture, proving AC's alive.
Irma tells Chacorta she'll quit her acting job to be his full time wife and mother to his children.
Alba receives a letter from Spain (which Helga actually wrote to make her think Bert is still alive).
Santiago has contacts in Juarez. He's going to try to find Ruti. He'll put up photos and offer a large reward. He does. Chema's men show him the photos, with the name Rutila Casillas Letran.
Lucila calls Chema, threatens to expose all his dealings unless he tells what happened to Elsa. Chema says go to hell, then tells Toro she just signed her death warrant. He tells Ernie that HE has to kill Lucila. Ernie reluctantly agrees. This will separate Ernie and Rutila, which Chema apparently wants.
Lucila goes into Vicky's office (Ignacio is there, too), says she thinks Elsa has been kidnapped by Chema. They want to know if Elsa was working with Chema, maybe helped get him out of jail. She agrees to testify if they will protect her. Hah.
Lai decides to have sex with Garnica, for the business. Inaki is upset, but Helga says she could help seduce Garnica for a price. AC calls Lai for info about Chema, and she isn't happy about this. Chacorta then informs AC that there are posters of Rutila all over Juarez! AC is livid, all their enemies will know Ruti is his daughter. AC swears he's gonna kill Santiago. Chacorta says he has to do it really secretly, so no one will know, the way Chacorta did with Matilda.
In the morning, Garnica wants more sex from Lai, and when she refuses, he threatens to toss her into the streets with nothing. He makes her put on his shoes.
Ruti realizes she's made a big mistake. Ernie wants an advance of money, since he and Ruti want to cross the border. Chema points out that Ernie doesn't even speak English, and take care of this job first. Ernie tells Ruti he's got a little job, and Ruti isn't happy she's be left alone with these people. A sumptuous meal is brought in to make her less nervous.
AC bursts in on Santiago and Ximena, he raises a gun, points it at Santiago, how dare you plaster my daughter's picture all over the streets!
Things are really heating up now!
We again see Jorge, in the hospital cafeteria, tell Camila that he wants custody of Emiliana. He asks if he can count on her. Cami, always difficult, says that her mother wanted Lorena to have custody of Emiliana [actually, no, she didn’t]. She then goes on to say that she doesn’t want to be separated from her sister. Jorge suggests that they both come to Australia to live with him there. He tells her that his brother wouldn’t want hanging onto a house make his children miserable.
Diego calls Selma. He wants some more answers from her. Just then Eddie comes in with Valeria. Diego breaks off his conversation. He doesn’t want Eddie to even smell Adriana. Eddie starts out griping at Diego about taking the risk he did at the hospital. Diego asks if he was supposed to let El Pachuco harm Emi. Eddie thinks EP will lay low for a while, but Diego says that the guy is a sicario and he won’t give up until the job is done. Eddie mentions 24 hour guards for Emi.
Jorge tells Camila that he helped his brother found Vinos Larrea, and he can help Cami start her own business. She ends up saying she’ll think about it.
We get more foreshadowing when we see a conversation between Gabriel and Jennifer in the bookstore apartment. She thinks it’s too small of a place and wants to go to the pensión to stay. Jennifer says she has a bad premonition.
Lorena (just die already, please) comes to the winery and tells Elena that Diego told her someone was trying to poison Emiliana. Lorena, of course, doesn’t trust or believe him. Elena wants her back in the hospital, probably for keeping up appearances in her desire for Lorena to maintain custody of Emi.
Diego still isn’t reconciled to what has happened. He accuses Selma of not trying hard enough to bring back Adriana. Selma tells him about the efforts to hypnotize Mondriana. Adriana did come through a couple of times, but she went away very soon. Diego and Selma compare notes on Mondriana’s behavior. They both agree that both Mónica and Adriana were completely exhausted, even out of breath, after having regained control of the body. Selma asks if it could be possible that Mónica is trying to return. She asks if Adriana is wearing the dije. Diego says she does wear it at all times. Selma tells him about the Oaxacan shaman who knew about souls that wouldn’t stay put. Diego is all for bringing him up. Selma tells him not to get too excited. She tells him this whole thing is unknown territory.
Up in her bedroom Adriana puts on Mónica’s video again. She watches Mónica, in her body, talking about her children, showing a picture of them to the camera. She begs Adriana to lend her her arms to protect her children.
Back to Elena and Lorena. I wish a bomb would explode and blow these two up. I can hardly bear to watch their scenes together. Elena’s voice rises into the upper registers asking her mother why she didn’t call her right away about what happened at the hospital. Looking as always like a sulky baby, Lorena says that Jorge protected Diego, probably because he believed that Diego was protecting Emi from being poisoned. Always astute, Elena says that the two of them must have discussed this before because no one would believe anything like that the first time they heard it. Lorena says that Jorge has been distant with her since talking about getting custody of Emi. She thinks he blames her for what’s happened. Elena looks thoughtfully into the middle distance and says “Ya veo.”
This telenovela has cornered the market on stubborn people. If it’s not Camila, it’s Diego. Diego keeps on ragging on Selma. He asks why Mónica made him believe that Adriana didn’t love him and that she loved Gerardo. Selma says Mondriana believed she’d stay in the body. Diego sets his jaw and says she should have tried to return the body. Selma tells him about the danger and Mondriana’s desire to protect her children.
Adriana walks in just then. She asks Selma how Emiliana is. She asks what’s wrong with her. Diego tries to hustle her upstairs, but she insists on hearing. Selma puts it bluntly: “They poisoned her. At first she fainted, and now she can’t walk.” Selma goes on to say that the child is depressed. She wants to see the Mónica that lived in your body. Adriana says that she saw this on the video. She says that Mónica said that the depression Emi was going through went away when Mondriana became her governess and why not, since it was her own mother caring for her. Adriana thinks Emi must have sensed her mother. Diego again tries to distract her from the conversation.
Adriana asks why they won’t let her visit the hospital. Diego interrupts again and asks Selma to leave. He tells her that they have to start thinking about themselves.
Emiliana tells Camila that she thinks she’s going to die. Ricardo comes in and announces that he tried to bring Emi some chocolates, but they wouldn’t let him. Camila thinks it must be a new hospital policy.
Eddie has come to visit Jorge at his house. He tells him that the cops think the proof isn’t strong enough for him to get 24-hour guards for Emi. Jorge (whew!) tells him that he’s already hired 24-hour security for Emiliana. Jorge wonders why Ricalde would have gotten Pachuco hired as a driver. Eddie says he understands this part very well. The plan was to use EP to transfer kidnapped girls from México to the U.S. Eddie also says that the truck EP was driving was modified with a double bottom to hide the girls. Jorge wonders if Elena and Gerardo could be involved.
Diego, in bed with Adriana and with his arms wrapped rather too tightly around her, starts planning. He thinks about their going to NYC and then back to México. Adriana says it doesn’t matter where they are as long as they are together. She looks off into the distance and says that her life is going to be connected to that of Mónica Serrano. Adriana doesn’t feel like going out, so Diego volunteers to go and bring back some food from a nearby restaurant that specializes in food from the Yucatan.
Camila tells Ricardo about what Diego did, stopping El Pachuco from harming Emi. She also tells him that Jorge wants she and her sister to go to Australia with him. Ricardo says he’s not happy that Camila would go to Australia, but maybe it’s a good idea. He says he’d go with her to the ends of the earth.
Diego comes back with the food, but Adriana is gone.
Emiliana is sitting up in a wheelchair in her hospital room when Adriana comes in. Emi’s face lights up. “¡Moni!”, she says. The nurse tries to throw Adriana out, but Emiliana pleads and convinces her to let her stay. The poor child says she thought she’d never see Mónica again, thought that she didn’t love her.
Emi doesn’t seem to notice the way Adriana talks and is just overjoyed to be with her.
Marta tells Rodrigo that Gabriel and Jennifer need to move away. He says he wishes he could finish the book with Gabriel and have his grandchild live nearby. A few scenes later Rodrigo tries to make his case for Marta to come back and live with him as man and wife. Her face stays the same, so we won’t know until tomorrow if his pleading works.
Diego freaks out and launches a search for Adriana.
Elena has come to see Jorge at his house. She says she doesn’t understand his attitude toward her. Jorge just smiles and asks who would have a bad feeling toward someone with the face of an angel. She comes right out with it. She says her mother told her that he thought she was trying to harm his nieces. Jorge tells her he has nothing to hide. His only interest is the well being of Camila and Emiliana. She starts up again with the same yada yada: “It hurts me that you doubt me. I was there when they were born and have watched them grow up.” Jorge tells her that one doesn’t gain confidence by reciting tragedies. He tells her to let it go.
Elena says she can tell by his tone that he thinks of her as an enemy. She asks what’s the problem. He tells her it’s the same problem everyone has: her relationship with Gerardo. He then asks if she was Julián’s lover. He reminds her she hinted his brother sexually abused her. She says he was 25 years older and she could not have abused him. Jorge: “And this is why you killed him?” [I’m starting to worry about Jorge making it to the end of this novela.]
Muchas gracias, Novelera. Your recap was terrific; I wish I enjoyed the episode as much. And the future looks even worse. I suppose we'll have to suffer through something seemingly terrible happening to Jennifer (thanks, probably, to Pachuco and/or Rottweiler), while Elena gloats and Lorena does whatever it is that Lorena does. And yes, as soon as Jorge accused Elena of having killed Julian, I suspected that he won't make it to the end. If there ever is an end.
Thanks, Novelera, for the excellent recap. I agree with Juanita that not much happened in this episode. Camila is still whining. Why can't Ric go to Australia with her? I'm afraid that Adriana isn't going to be able to carry off pretending to be Monica. Knowing what he does, Jorge is a dope to show his hand to Elena. But at least we didn't have to see Elena and Gerardo having their endless argument.
Cheers for now.
And still I haven't learned to put the heading!!! The above is in regard to En Otra Piel.
Lo siento.
Novelera, thanks so much for this and for all the smart, well-written recaps you've been sending our way.
This telenovela has cornered the market on stubborn people.
Yes, I'm beginning to understand that. Maybe that's why -- even in the final stretch -- everything is moving so slowly.
For some reason, I just adored this sentence of yours:
Diego sets his jaw and says she should have tried to return the body.
It is a precise description of a scene that encompasses what is both absurd and heartbreaking about the central conceit of the novela.
Thanks again!
Thanks for the kind words, all. And it's nice to have you with us, NovelaMaven, for the likely to be bitter end of this one.
Thanks Novelera for your wonderful recap. I marvel that you were able to stay awake through this episode. I can see that I didn't miss much by fast forwarding through the Elena-Lorena and Camilla-Ricardo scenes.
I hope that Jorge makes it through to the end. I was thinking they would pair him with Selma. He seemed so astute and assertive when he first arrived. Now he's just another of clowns circling (and doing nothing) about Elena. Even his 24 hour guard around Emi is worthless as Adriana seemed to be able to waltz right in.
Basta para hoy. Manana.
Thanks Novelera. Thanks to the video, Andriana knows what happened when Monica took over her body, but Diego is still holding out on telling her about her brother and the fact that Pachuco is in town and is the one poisoning Emi.
I think we all thought the same thing about Jorge...he is officially on Elena's hit list.
I think Emi did mention that Andriana was acting a little different (distanty instead of motherly). Hopefully Andriana will be able to leave without making any obvious mistakes.

Tks Hombre
That was stupid of Santiago to put Ruti's photo out there. He is alerting both good guys & bad guys.
I thought I'd pop in for the últimas semanas.
I think we'll see Monica take over Adriana's body one last time - with her consent. Her feeling tired and rubbing the back of her neck must mean that Moni is not far away.
If the story went in a different direction, however, I could see Lorena have a near-death experience with Monica then taking over for good. It would certainly be a more age-appropriate body (albeit with a pickled liver) and would give her an excuse to be in close proximity to her girls.
Both Gerardo and Elena should either go to prison or die for their sins. At one time, I thought Monica might assume Elena's body, but that would be pretty creepy, all things considered. I'm hoping we have a flashback scene soon of Elena paying off the doctor who said she was preggers, so we don't have an innocent baby caught in the crossfire.

I’ve been throwing in a bonus on Tuesday, but it’s not exactly comprehensive!
This thing should be entitled Relentlessly Dark instead of En Otra Piel.
So, after Jorge outright accuses Elena of killing his brother and says that Vicki knew about it, she “tells him the truth”. We don’t know exactly who seduced whom way back when, but I’m guessing Elena made the first move. Present day she tells Jorge that Julián kept insisting they keep up the affair, threatening her with telling Mónica about it. We know this is BS because we saw a flashback where he was telling her he wasn’t leaving Mónica for her and to back off. She tells Jorge that he was pursuing her (on horseback?) and fell. But in the flashback we saw her, infuriated by his preferring Mónica, throw a big rock that hit him in the head.
Adriana is entertaining Emiliana by telling her some story about her youth so laden with Mexican slang that I’m not even going to try to translate it. Anyway, Emi is laughing. Adriana again feels dizzy.
Rodrigo’s effort to win Marta back shows a slight chance and, again, he almost kisses her. And, again, Gabriel walks in and breaks the spell. Rod says that he should have named him Inoportuno Cantú at birth!
Emiliana finally seems to notice Adriana’s odd manner of speech. Sourpuss shows up, and Adriana starts to leave. But Camila aka Sourpuss softens and says they can visit. When Adriana says Diego must be worried, Emi calls him to tell him she’s there.
Jorge blows up at Elena for saying those things about Julián. He doesn’t believe her. He tells her he’s taking the girls. She whines that she loves them. Jorge: “Really? You love them? Or do you want them nearby for another reason?”
More dark stuff. The truly vile Pachuco tells Rottweiler that the poison in the syringe he’s waving around comes from a Chinese insect. Rottweiler actually doesn’t like the idea of poisoning a kid, but when EP offers him $20K to try again, he jumps at it.
Emiliana is having such a good time it can’t possibly last. Of course, Lorena shows up. She starts raving at Adriana, threatening to call the police if she ever comes back. Adriana leaves, and Emiliana explodes in anger at her wretched aunt. Outside the room, Cami thanks Adriana for coming. Adri says she did her duty and won’t be coming back. But she came because of the child. She tells Cami that Emiliana’s mamá is worried and that Camila should watch her closely!
Elena shows up at El Pachuco’s triple locked door and finds Rottweiler there. She seems to have forgotten she hired him before. [What did he do? Beat up Ricardo? Beat up Gabriel? Can’t remember.] Anyway, she denies knowing Rotty and says she has an important job for EP. I think we can probably guess what it is.
Whoops! Adriana leaves the hospital and Gerardo runs up asking why she isn’t returning his calls. He gets the “full Adriana” right in the face. With the barrio girl slang she accuses him of putting horns on his wife. Gerardo: Cara de impactado. When he babbles on some more about love, Adriana tells him she’s in love with a real man, not a gigolo. He intuits it’s Diego and his jealousy of Diego flares right up. He starts saying that Adriana and Diego planned together to defraud the family. He grabs hold of her by the shoulders and gets a punch in the face from Diego for his trouble.
Cami is trying to intervene between Lorena and Emiliana, but Emi is not backing down. She tells Lorena she doesn’t know why her mother gave custody of her to a fool. She tells Lorena she hates her, and that she’d rather be in an orphanage than with Lorena.
Lorena runs out, humbled, and tells Cami that she’s probably not the best person to have custody. She didn’t even raise her own daughter. Camila asks her why she doesn’t consider Jorge’s offer. Lorena is shocked Cami already knows.
Eddie and Valeria are walking in the neighborhood when Anselmo and a bunch of the El Chalado gang challenge him and say he’s part of the Rottweiler gang. Valeria says he’s her boyfriend. After the gang leaves, Eddie and Vale kiss.
Now that Adriana has refused him, all of a sudden Gerardo wants to protect Emiliana. He lays down orders that neither Adriana nor Diego are to visit the child.
Back at the House of Horrors. Susana catches Elena having a little cocktail. Never discreet, Susana asks if this is a good idea for a pregnant woman. Elena swears her to secrecy.
Thump! Elena, Marta, and Susana are in the hallway. Marta goes to the door and finds a huge rock with a note tied on it. Voy a matarlos a todos empezando por esas malditas escuinclas. Elena looks pretty shocked and we don’t get her trademark smirk. So who else would want to do that?
Novelera,
Thanks for your "brief" recap. (It seemed pretty comprehensive to me.)
I'm traveling for work for a few days so recaps are tiding me over until I can get caught up on the real thing.
Sue in TN - No babies will be harmed. Elena is not pregnant. She injected herself with some weight loss stuff that gives her a positive pregnancy test and stole some other woman's ultrasound picture. Susana saw the syringes and knew that the stuff can result in a positive pregnancy test but the penny hasn't dropped. Susana is not the sharpest tack in the box. Otherwise, no one else knows about this. Yet.
Thanks for the bonus recap, Novelera. You got it all. I was watching casually and when the credits ran, I said to myself, "That's it - vitrually nothing has happened." In other words, same old same old.
Even though Elena didn't smirk, I assumed the rock throwing incident was part of Elena's plot with EP and Rottweiler.
Who could forget a name like that and Rott's hideous bandanna style? Didn't Elena even recall that Susana ratted out Rottweiler as Jennifer's vengeful former boyfriend?
My guess is that Elena is behind the rock throwing...in an attempt to deflect attention away from her. And who will she blame? Pachuco? Unfortunately it'll support Eddie's weak theory. And perhaps this is when Rottweiler will become useful to her.
I'm now hoping that Elena's punishment will be to have Mondriana return and inject her with the same poison she's using on Emi.

AC is just about to kill Santiago, Ximena screams no, the little girl is right in the next room (Luzma), and AC relents. He gruffly informs Santiago that he, AC, is not going to be replaced by some idiot like Santi, and stalks out. Later in the episode, Chacorta tells AC he should kill Ximena, she's a loose end. After all, Chacorta killed Mati, right? AC isn't buying it, says Xime is not like Mati.
Ruti has a cellphone, even though Chema probably doesn't like that. She calls Victor, but doesn't get to say much before Toro enters, having seen Ruti with the phone, and Chema doesn't want to make calls. After he leaves, Ruti calls her Mom, but AC is so mad at Xime and Santi that he doesn't look the the phone, just SMASHES it! Xime cries out, that could have been someone who knows where Rutila is! AC doubts it, just some golddigger or one of his enemies. He also takes away Santi and Xime's other phones. Great guy, that AC.
Ruti tries to make a call again, Toro comes in again. She hides the phone. Then a girl comes in to pick up the food Ruti had finished, and "accidentally" drops the phone in the glass of water, ruining it. Chema comes in, pretends to be all on Rutila's side. He later gives her a new phone, but he doesn't want her to use it, for security reasons.
Chema takes Ruti on a tour of his lair, with lots of girls in their underwear (security reasons) measuring and packing the cocaine. He shows her the tunnel to the US, saying you and your boyfriend will be be going there soon. But Ruti isn't buying this, and tells him she's not dumb. She's figured out by the phone thing that he must have a hidden camera, and she's not happy about that.
Inaki is not happy about Garnica using his wife Lai for sex and treating Inaki like a servant boy. He pulls a knife and holds it on Garnica's throat! But Garnica dares him to stab, Inaki freezes, and Garnica kicks, spins and punches the helpless Inaki. The only thing preventing more problems is a sexy Helga, luring Garnica away.
AC's heading to Juarez to get Ruti back personally (with tons of men, of course). He doesn't have time to talk to Vicky. Vicky gets a call from Monica, who DOES want to talk. They meet, and Monica tells Vicky she has a secret. Her baby is from a drug trafficker! A Casillas! Danilo doesn't know, and don't tell him. The drug trafficker said he was a nice normal guy, but he totally fooled Monica. How could a smart girl ever let that happen? This is of course ironic, since Vicky is doing this same thing. I think Monica is preparing for AC to reveal himself, just trying to speed things up, by making Vicky think about things a little. But Vicky is so dense, who knows if it'll work?
Meanwhile, our death squad crew have two new guys, cops who will help them, to go along with Ana, Elena and Ignacio. Ig brings out the picture of their next target, Monica Robles!! I'm thinking that they'll be discovered, but that Vicky could see that picture, and start putting two and two together.
Vicky is going to have a press conference tomorrow, to announce that Elsa is missing, and that they will have testimony that Elsa is working with Chema. She tells Garnica to be there. She calls Lucila, home alone, to reassure her that some cops are coming over to protect her. But as soon as Lucy hangs up, thugs burst in, three guys and Ernie, and one guy throws Lucy to the ground and starts trying to rape her! Ernie is appalled, they were supposed to kill her, but this is like, so unprofessional. He tries to get the guy off Lucy. Meanwhile, two cops arrive, and are promptly killed.
Ernie gets the guy off Luci, and says sorry, it's just business. He points his gun at her, but another guy says use mine, it's a better caliber. So he shoots her with the second gun. Two seconds later, Andrews arrives, and Ernie is arrested for murder!!!! Apparently Chema set up this whole thing. I don't understand the gun switch, but in this testo of Ernesto, who'd have thought he'd be under arresto!!
thanks hombre fantastic recaps. I think AC deserves an award for being the most narcissistic man in novela world, compared to him, chema seems like a good guy! Also hilarious when Garnica told Inaki that the only reason he didn't kill him is because he (inaki) had the balls to fight him
Tks Hombre
I think my most hated character now is Garnica, he is a disgusting pig. Too bad Inaki didn't kill him.
I am also finding Garnica to be disgusting; he is so slimy. So Monica is the next target; not looking good for her and the baby.
Ernie is doomed; he fell right into that trap! Ruti; I don't think she is going to fare well either; chema plans to dispose of her one way or another.
A lot if action and happenings now... I wonder who the survivors will be!
Thanks Hombre!
Interesting that you all seem to think Elena arranged the rock throwing and note to deflect attention. Good theory. I didn't immediately go there because I'd honed in on my theory that Elena met with Pachuco to get him to kill Jorge.
Novelera, first thanks for the recap. I forgot to mention that earlier.
I also think Elena wants Pachuco to kill Jorge. And I'm thinking Elena is behind the rock throwing mostly because I can't think of anyone else who hates the entire family and would specifically want to hurt the kids. I'm just guessing that at some point her relationship with Pachuco will be compromised (more so than now since Diego, Jorge, and Cami knows about his attempt to poison Emi). If so, she may use Rottweiler to get rid of Pachuco. And if he doesn't find Jennifer first, she'll probably hand Jenny over to him. Just a theory.

Thank you, Novelera, for throwing us a bone. Actually, it's quite tasty and there's plenty of meat to gnaw on. I still haven't seen the episode (I almost never read ahead because I like to be surprised; I'm making an exception in this case because I feel sure that nothing is going to happen.)
"Relentlessly Dark" huh? Maybe I came back too soon. :D
Hombre I have not posted in awhile as I have not had anything of significance to add but I still read your great recaps!
As far as them switching guns with Ernie, I believe it was all a part of the set-up. If you remember, the gun with the silencer that Ernie shot Lucila with is the same gun that the other guy killed those 2 cops who busted in on them. So now they can blame all 3 killings on Ernesto since he was found with the gun.
-VRO
Great recap, Novelera. Many thanks. I can't imagine anyone other than Elena writing such a note. I suspect she had Pachuco "deliver" it while she was in the house, so as to make it seem as if she too is being threatened. Hence, she wouldn't have her characteristic smirk, since she would want to seem perplexed and frightened. I also think that the primary task she had for Pachuco is getting rid of Jorge.
Wow, this little shop of horrors never seems to run out of merchandise.
Muchas gracias, Hombre. Loved your "with lots of girls in their underwear (security reasons)."
Rehash of idiot Susanna nagging Elena about drinking while “pregnant”, and then the rock thing.
Elena blames the gang that kidnapped Cami. Marta actually calls the police. Weird.
Selma calls the guy that Esteban was talking to about the dije. We don’t get to hear their conversation.
Diego gets Adriana to bed. Again. And asks her to promise not to go back to see Emiliana. She agrees but talks about how happy Emi was to see her and that it was all worth it. Adri thinks that Emi felt that she was with her mother again.
Emi is griping about Lorena and Cami tells her to cut the woman some slack. (No). Emi jokes that she’s the worst for saying those things and she deserves a punch in the nose. Then Cami gets a call from Elena who asks where she is. She’s waiting for Jorge to get to the hospital and take over her watch. She wants Cami to meet her downstairs at the hospital so they can talk without Emi hearing. Then she calls someone else to tell him to wait for her signal. Cami is going to send in Lorena, and Emi is resigned to that.
Diego still wants Adri to dump the whole Emi thing. The two of them made it when they both started out as orphans, and now it’s up to Emi to resolve her own life. Way to be empathetic, dude. Adri points out that she’s only there because Monica’s soul took over her body when her own soul left. Diego still harps about them needing to focus on themselves and make things better, but Adriana considers the Big Picture. Selma comes to tell them the good news that Adriana will be fine.
Jorge finally gets to the hospital as Cami gets downstairs and outside to see Elena. There is a driveby by Pachuco and Elena “saves” Cami from the “shooting”.
Selma talks to the kids about the shaman. Monica didn’t do anything about it before, because they got a hold of the guy just as she got her memory back about Elena killing her. The shaman is coming to LA, but she doesn’t know when he’ll get there, but hopefully in time for ultimas capitulos.
Jorge checks out Cami and Elena and they’re fine. Elena passes on the story of the rock to Jorge. She didn’t see anyone in the car, but Cami did. It was the guy who helped Carlos with her kidnapping. Elena looks concerned.
Diego goes on again about it being time for them, etc., but Adri looks bummed (achicopalada). Selma tells her it was important to Moni that they get back together and be happy again. Adri thanks her and understands that this must be hard for Selma.
Marta is filling in Eddie, the only good cop in LA apparently, about the rock. Gerardo returns home and gets the story from Marta too. Eddie watches him. He goes after Eddie about why Pachuco isn’t in jail yet, why isn’t he doing his job. Eddie gets a call and tells Marta and Ger about the shooting.
Vale and Maite share some girl time, as Vale tells her about kissing Eddie. The she tells Maite about what happened and that they were fine because of Anselmo believe the novios story. Maite is still annoyed at him, but mostly she’s happy for Valeria.
Gabe and Jen and Ric and Eileen are having dinner with Rodrigo. Eileen jinxes everything by saying she’s sure everything will be just fine. She’s going to have her friend Leni help out Jeni and Gabe, even though he’s a weird artist type. Ric gets a call from Cami about the gunshot, but she’s ok because Elena “saved” her life. But someone is after Emi.
Elena talks to a SECOND cop in LA! She bs’s Jorge about just wanting to protect Cami. She doesn’t need anything from the nurse, although Jorge thinks she should be checked out because of the “pregnancy”. She thinks she’s fine and just needs to rest. Jorge tries to insist but she doesn’t want to be around all these sickies in the hospital. Ger calls to see how she is, even though he doesn’t look like he really cares. She tells him she’s fine, he says nothing, and she says, “no, no don’t worry about the baby”, for the benefit of Jorge who’s still there listening. Ger can’t say much since Eddie can hear his side of the call. Jorge convinces Cami to go home with Elena. Eddie is going to investigate and interview everyone in the house. Ger is annoyed and Eddie doesn’t trust him.
Eileen takes leave of her new family and provides a light moment, as she does.
Diego goes downstairs of the pension and tells Maite and Vale that Adriana is resting. Maite questions this, all that resting. Diego asks them not to tell her anything about what happened in San Diego (but didn’t they already tell her?). Then Eddie call HIM about the gunshot. Why? He’s not family. Eddie really needs more officers.
Lorena sits with Emi. Emi tells her Cami wanted her to ask forgiveness of Lorena, but she can’t. She’s still mad about how Lorena treated Moni. Lor asks why she’s so hooked on moni, and Emi tells her she feels like she did when she was with her mother. (I was hoping Monica would take over Elena’s body, mostly because it would annoy Elena’s soul. But I like the idea that someone had of taking over Lorena instead. Elena should probably suffer more than just purgatory, and Lorena owes Monica, big time. Plus, Lorena hasn’t done anything that could land Monica in jail. Pretty sure the “but my soul just got here” defense wouldn’t work in court).
Diego plays guitar for Adri. They talk all lovey-dovey about being suertudo (lucky), etc.
Everyone is back at the house, where Elena fakes worry about Cami. Jorge wants Emi out of the hospital. Elena wants to bring Emi home but Jorge thinks she’ll be better off at his house. Safer, less Elena-y, no one knows where he is. Even the docs think it’s a good idea. Elena is annoyed that he talked to the docs without consulting Lorena, but Gerardo thinks this is a good idea. Elena glares at him.
Pachuco and Rott are celebrating their fake shooting and talking about becoming millionaires.
Elena defends the security of the house, and Jorge reminds her of the rock. She’ll get guards. They have Pacho, it’s Emi’s home, etc., but Jorge still think she’d be safer and better off at his place. Elena argues a little too much for her plan, and then excuses herself to rest. Ger follows. Jorge asks Cami’s opinion, but she supports Elena’s plan. Boy, is she going to feel like an idiot in a few weeks or what?
Ger and Elena talk, and Ger still thinks Jorge has a good point. Then he asks Elena if she had something to do with the attack. She gets all defensive and he, finally having her figured out, says it could’ve been a false shooting. She gets angry, yells, blames Adriana. He points out that THEY are being investigated and it’s not time for secrets. She’s not giving in. He does admit that she was right about Adriana being a liar (because she dumped him), and Elena is all kinds of happy.
Cami tells Jorge, who can’t probably can’t believe he’s hearing this, that she wants to stay at their own house. Cami actually believes Elena’s fake life-saving story, and Jorge sighs. He goes back to the hospital while Ric comforts Cami.
Elena wants Ger to leave the cops up to her. She can handle them. He’ll give her the benefit of the doubt, but he doesn’t really believe her, and if she’s lying, he won’t be able to help her.
Eddie investigates, finds a shell on the ground, and HEY! Two more cops! He asks how far away Cami was from the car, and thinks it’s strange that they were such bad shots to have missed.
Ger doesn’t understand why Elena wants Emi there so badly, after all the talk of getting rid of her. Because of family, etc. But Ger knows her and he’s not a complete moron anymore. She’s doing it because she loves Emi. Fine, says Ger, prove it. Lets go stay at Ernesto’s apartment and leave the house to the girls. Elena is all kinds of unhappy.
Diego brings Adri some food and talks, but she just lies there looking stoned. He checks on her but she doesn’t answer.
We’re making up for lost time now, people!
Kelly
Oh my Kelly, what a fantastic recap. I laughed out loud not once but several times. I'm sure the recap is waaaaay better than the episode, which I have no intention of watching.
I particulary liked:
Pretty sure the “but my soul just got here” defense wouldn’t work in court).
and
The shaman is coming to LA, but she doesn’t know when he’ll get there, but hopefully in time for ultimas capitulos.
I wish I thought that writers were clever enough or cared enough to put Monica's soul in Lorena's body. I'm not sure the actress who plays Lorena is up to acting like Monica instead of a zombie with a lot of hair.
Thanks, Kelly, for a great recap. I'm really pretty fed up with this endless novela, and I'm not sure that last night's episode did much to encourage me.
Yes, I too thought that Adriana had already been told about what happened in San Diego. Indeed, I think I remember the scene, with Adriana being shocked at what she was being told, and yet having a flashback of cutting Carlos. So I'm not sure why Maite and Vale didn't just tell him that Adriana had already been told. Probably the writers didn't remember. :-)
Loved a number of your comments, esp. "Pretty sure the 'but my soul just got here' defense wouldn't work in court" and the bit about the shaman getting to LA "hopefully in time for ultimas capitulos."
Oh, I just looked again, and I see Jean has cited the same two passages. Jean, I loved your comment about the actress who plays Lorena not being up to playing Monica rather than a zombie with lots of hair.
I liked the lines Jean and Juanita alluded to, but for some reason, this little throw-away was my fave:
"Jorge thinks she’ll be better off at his house. Safer, less Elena-y"
So do you think Adriana will wake up as Monica tonight? I'd really like to see that.
Hmm. I think I'll read tonight's recap and then decide whether or not to watch.
Great recap Kelly.
Elena was smart not to plan an immediate hit on Jorge. I think he understands what we've all been feeling... exasperation when a someone refuses to wake up and smell reality. I could see he was flustered when Cami fell for Elena's version of what happened. However we haven't seen much investigating on his part. If he can buy a new home for Cami he can certainly afford the best detectives. Even the guy who photographed Monica would be a start. I do like to see him interrupting Elena when she's lying or blaming Mondriana for everything.
Strange that the writers took the time to show Marta in the basement, faithfully asking Monica for a sign... and then nothing after that. Monica would gladly communicate with Marta if she was willing. Nice that Andriana essentially thanked Monica for saving her life.
There will definitely come a time when Elena will want to get rid of Pachuco now that he's been identified twice. Instead I'd like to see him arrested and make a plea with Eddie...he provide a lot of info about the crimes and accomplices from Mexico to LA.
And Monica in Lorena's body, that would work since Lorena is the guardian but it would be creepy to watch her play that role.

Yes, Ernie is being blamed not just for Lucila's murder, but also for the two cops. Andrews has the guy wipe all prints down, and when Ernie gets thrown in jail (in Guadalajara, where Vicky, Ig, etc are, and where Elsa was), Andrews tells the investigating officer that this punk acted "alone". Who's the investigating officer? It's Leo, back from Colombia! She instantly recognizes Ernie, knows he was either working for Chema or AC. At this point, Ernie won't say a thing. And after Leo leaves, Andrews tells him, if you talk, you die, so be a man and take the rap.
At the end of the episode, AC finds out that Ernie's in jail for this, and AC decides HE will interrogate Ernie!
Victor understands Alba's frustration that nobody tells her anything, so he tells her the truth, that Rutila is being held by Chema Venegas! This doesn't calm her down too much. Alba had told AC that she got that letter from Bert, but Bert's never coming back, so she's lost one grandchild, doesn't want to lose another (Ruti).
Victor tells Chacorta that he did speak to Ruti, she's in Juarez, but doesn't know where. Victor and Irma are really becoming friends. Maybe if Chacorta gets killed, these two could be a couple.
Lai visits Chema. He's very suspicious, why is she there? (we know it's to get info for AC). She says she's tired of putting out for Garnica. And she wants to have sex with Chema, which they do. This is not too convincing to Chema, who says could you probably be working for AC? No way, she says. Well, if you are, give him the message, I've got his little "treasures". Lai leaves, hooded, calls AC, says I think he does have Ruti, relates the treasure thing. As for where he is, Juarez, and maybe near the border, as there were tunnels. I also saw a mountain. AC wants to go into Juarez in full force, even though they don't know where the hideout is.
Mónica gets criticized by Lilo, and she tells him to mind his business, she's tough, and he'll regret it if he makes waves. AC also reams her out for visiting Vicky, but Mónica says you need to cut out this lovey dovey stuff, and tell Vicky you're AC NOW. She won't dare reveal to the public she's being funded by the Lord of the Skies, even less sleeping with him! She's just a business for us. Or are you actually FALLING for her? Hmmm.
When Vicky finds that Luci is dead, she accuses Garnica, since that's the only person she told about Luci. Garnica calls Chema and is p-oed that Chema got him blamed for this. Chema basically says F- off. Helga does have sex with Garnica, and doesn't want any deal, money or anything in return. She just digs older guys. Yeah, right!
At the press conference, Vicky announces that Elsa has disappeared, and Luci has been killed, but they'll wipe out this drug scourge. She brings up the death squads, and Ignacio says the people are happy, lots of drug people are being killed. No, says Vicky, we will only act within the law. No more violence (dream on).
So what about Rutila? She does discover the camera, and yells at it, let me out! Chema lets her stew overnight, to calm down. The next day, he goes in, acting really nice, says I have bad news, you're boyfriend has been arrested. She's furious, it's all Chema's fault, giving him this "job" to do, but he comforts her, let's her cry on his shoulder. Then he says I'm not your enemy, your own boyfriend was lying to you, Rutila Casillas!
Ruti is shocked, you knew who I was! Chema pulls out the picture of AC, says your boyfriend called me, he said he had pictures of the Lord of the Skies, and here's what he brought. If here's the camera, recognize this? More pictures are inside. Ernie was turning over your father to me, to get a job. And he just used you.
Ruti doesn't know what to think. Well, then let me go. No, sorry, honey, says Chema. Your father would find me and kill me. For now, you need to stay here, safe and sound, and I'll try to make your stay comfortable.
As if!!!
Thanks, Kelly, that recap was terrific! I share your annoyance with Diego Way to be empathetic, dude. I really liked what Adriana said to him. For once she wasn’t babbling as if she were brain damaged – the way she’s been doing since she “came back”. She reminded our possessive Diego that his Adriana would have died at the hospital and they wouldn’t be having this conversation if Mónica’s soul hadn’t entered her body.
Cami was very pleased to see some humor from Emiliana. What Emi said was that what she’d said to Lorena made her a very bad person and she needed a grano (pimple) right on the end of her nose.
I don’t think Camila recognizing Pachuco was in Elena’s plans. He’ll stay alive just as long as he’s useful.
Is there any chance they’re just screwing with us with all the foreshadowing that Jennifer will be somehow snatched up by Rottweiler?
Yep, I expect we’re in for a long scene with Camila tearing her hair for not seeing what Elena was.
Please, please, writers: Don’t give us scenes of Elena sneaking into Emi’s room and injecting her.
That Chinese insect thingy must be very versatile. Elena confessed to having “given it” to Mónica for quite a while before she finished her off. I remember Mónica having health issues and fainting. So she couldn’t have been injecting her – it must have been oral. And then the coup de grace was the injection in the back of her neck. Oh well, telenovela poisons are a breed apart.
thanks hombre for the recap
does anyw one have any.guess as to what chema has plan for ernie ?
It seems like the women in these cartels are treated like 2nd class citizens. What Lai doesn't have to do; and Monica, always getting chastised by AC. I think it's funny that she told the Gober about her baby being a Casilla.
I just don't see a good ending for Rutilla, unless AC risks his own life to save hers, and then she can run the cartel in Season 3. Poor Ernie, when AC gets hold of him...I would rather be in the hands of Chema.
Awesome recap, Hombre. Thanks so much!
Otra vez, gracias Hombre
Pobre Rutila,in the hands of a monster.
Not much difference in having Chema or AC after you.
Chema got rid of Ernie just like he planned. When AC gets a hold of Ernie, welllll
We know AC is in season 3, I doubt Chema or Ernie will be there.
I found another double for AC, Liev Schreiber, ck out his images, sorry Liev
AC, Garnica, Chema all make my skin crawl. Sick of the narco babes cliche a
Nd the general abuse of women. However the story has been more exciting lately. Hombre great recaps.
Bmc
Muchas gracias como siempre, Hombre. I'm enjoying following the plot without having to get emotionally involved.
Ernie bangs his fist against the wall, making it bloody. Leo comes back to question him again. Despite her probing questions, often close to the truth, he won't say a word. Leo was happy to see Ignacio, asked him about the death squads, he said he knew nothing, but aren't they good? No, she says, we have to be within the law. She asks him for some shell casings from the killings. He later tells Ana and Elena to fake some shell casings. Elena is upset, but will go along. Ana is totally on board. We know they're all going to get burned by this.
Ignacio goes back interrogate Ernie HIS way, by beating him up! Leo stops it, and tells Ig he should be ashamed of himself. He is, but is also sick and tired of these drug guys killing people, like his father, like Lucila.
Inaki asks Mirolindo how much it costs to hire an assassin. He wants to kill Garnica. He thinks they could contact the death squads, who are killing drug guys, Garnica's involved, why not? Mirolindo says no way, let's forget you even asked.
Alba all of sudden gets a brain. Ximena tells her that Rutila is being held captive by Chema. Alba isn't too surprised, then adds that she figured out that Bert is dead, thanks a lot for hiding that from me, Ximena! And what about Matilda? Xime says what about her? Alba says, my sons are killers, you do the math. She adds that Rutila is also lost to Ximena, she made her choice. So Ximena should take Luzma and leave with Santiago. Xime says 1) I'm not leaving, and 2) AC would find us and kill us anyway, he almost killed us yesterday, only stopping because Luzma was there. Alba knows this is true.
AC and Chacorta arrive in Juarez, and Lilo has a map of various locations, they can get pretty close to where Chema's hideout is. They also have the idea of sending a guy out to buy drugs locally, that could lead them to Chema, which is the distribution center.
Monica has promised not to wreck AC's plan. AC has assured her that he loves only her, and in time, he'll take the next step with Vicky, to blackmail her. When Vioky calls Monica/Fernanda though, Monica again stresses how you can be totally fooled by someone. Vicky still doesn't see this applies to her.
The real Danilo gets free!!!! He got a paper clip, and got his shackles off. Since most of the guards, AC, Chacorta, Lilo, etc. are in Juarez, could he actually get to freedom and contact some one?
With Ernie gone, Chema decides to put his Ruti plan into full gear. He has Toro buy her a pretty dress, and tell Ruti dinner's at nine. Nine comes and goes, but then Ruti DOES show up, DRESSED to the nines, hair and make up more mature than before. Chema's happy, offers her wine or champagne. Nope, she wants tequila, says she's NOT a lady. And forget the wine, that reminds her of Ernie, whom she's trying to forget (in her room she said to herself "Damn you, Ernie".
Rutila asks Chema, what's next? What plans do you have for me? Chema plays it cool, praises her, he thinks she's not only beautiful, but also very intelligent, did your boyfriend ever tell you that? He continues to pile on the charm, and Ruti continues to play along. For now.
But the hounds are barking at the gate! (AC and his men are in Juarez searching for the hideout). More excitement to come!
Adriana won't wake up. Her eyes are sort of half closed in a creepy way. Diego is freaked out. He can't lose her again. He calls Selma who comes over but she doesn't know what to do. Time to call the shaman for an emergency visit. Selma says that he has called.
Cami has drunk the Koolaid about Elena's saving her from the gunman. Ric – not so much.
Gerardo is sitting around drinking. He flashes back to running into the woman he loves who all of sudden became an angry Mexican street chic who gives him what for. Since he doesn't know about soul transfer, he can only conclude that she and Deigo are fraudsters and asks what did they want? Elena comes in. She says that she will accept his proposition. Cami and Emi can keep the house but she wants to have her wedding at the house and they will leave afterwards. So plenty of time for evil.
Diego fiddles with Adriana's dije but it's psychic battery is low or something and it's not working. Selma passes along the advice of the shaman - hold Adriana and tell her her stories of their life together and how important she is to him. Diego obeys. Adriana starts to awake up. She says Diego's name. Selma and Diego are happy.
Valeria tells Matje that she went upstair and peeked at what was going on up there and Adriana looked dead. She looked like a souless body. Diego was trying to bring her back.
Elena managed to get Gerado to have sex with her. Afterwards, Gerardo looks at the sleeping Elena and sees Mondriana. Elena is all happy to have Gerardo back in her bed.
Next morning. Adriana is sleeping. She wakes up. Diego brings her breakfast. She says that doesn't feel that well. Her head feels big, like it will explode. She is having trouble focusing. She didn't recognize the room when she woke up. She says that he knows what is happening - her soul is trying to get out of her body again. Diego tells her not to say that. She needs to hold on; the shaman is on the way. Then everything will go back to the way it was.
Jorge and Selma discuss the attempted shooting at the hospital. Selma asks how Elena was afterwards. Jorge replies that she was fine - less nervous than Camila. She refused to be examined by the doc at the hospital. Selma is surprised at this. She would have a thought a mother to be would put her baby first and want to be checked out pronto. Jorge agrees but says that Elena said that she wanted to go to her own doctor. Jorge says that if he hadn't seen it, he never would have believed that Elena was capable of risking her own life to save Cami.
Valeria thinks something weird is going on with Adriana and that Diego is hiding it. Doña Lupe comes in and announces that she is getting married to a guy she just met. Valeria and Maite are surprised but happy for her. Lupe says that the 7th time is the charm. Lupe is going to go on a cruise with her fiancé who works in the kitchen of a cruise ship. She asks Valeria and Maite to administer boarding house. [Administer what? Maite, Valeria and Diego appear to be the only tenants.] She will teach them and Rodrigo can help.
Jorge tells Selma about his conversation with Elena concerning Julian's death. Selma asks if Elena convinced him that her version of what happened was true. Jorge replies that he is not sure. Elena seemed sincere. Selma says that Elena is a murderer and a fluent lier. Jorge the dope repeats that he saw Elena protecting Cami. He asks what if she isn't the monster we all think she is? Selma speaks for us all and says that if Jorge has changed teams, we're done. Mónica lost everything, including her life, because of Elena. Jorge brings up Elena's hard childhood and says that maybe she really cares about Cami & Emi. Selma replies that she can't convince Jorge that behind all that pink lipstick is a cold and calculating woman who is so smart that she has brainwashed him. She says that she is worried. Jorge can't believe that that Elena is so two faced. Selma points out that they can't prove she killed Julian but they know for sure that Elena killed Mónica for her money. Jorge says that he will pretend didn't see what happened yesterday at the hospital. Selma says that she misses Mondriana. She feels this void as will others. Jorge suggests that they can take flowers to her tomb. Selma replies that Mónica is not in her tomb. They should remember her in her music. Jorge asks about Adriana. Selma says that she is not doing well. Jorge apologizes for having doubts and gives Selma a kiss on the cheek as he leaves. She tells him to be careful.
Elena and Gerardo want to talk to Cami. They tells her that they will move somewhere else so Emi can live in stress free environment and doesn't have to live with Jorge.
Diego gets Adriana up but she can't walk. Adriana asks what if she came back only to say goodbye. Diego won't accept that. Adrians wants Diego to promise that if she can't control her soul and Mónica comes back not to hate her and to help her save her daughters. Diego replies that he won't let her go again.
Diego brings a semiconscious Adriana's to Selma's place. They wait for the shaman.
Elena has workmen close off access to secret room. Susana tells Elena that Jennifer left without notice and Marta badmouths her all the time. Elena does not seem to be interested.
At the hospital Lorena is with Emi. Cami comes in. Emi guesses something happened. Cami tells her about the attempted shooting.
Shaman housecall. He's says that Adriana's soul is in two worlds at once but she is ok. He asks if she lacks strength or will. She answers that she doesn't have the will to do anything. He is told that her soul was gone for six months [it seems longer]. He replies that is a long time. The soul of the other woman has not left completely. She wants to come back. She needs to come back.
I didn't get to watch the actual episode yet, but I couldn't wait to read the recap. Now I'm anxious to watch. Everything is really moving fast now.
Thanks Hombre!
Thanks, Jean, you did a fine job with another dud of an episode.
I liked the dije's "psychic battery being low".
So I'm guessing Elena's plan is to get Gerardo to the altar and then have a convenient miscarriage at some later date.
Yes, Selma did speak for all of us when she said she'd be done with Jorge if he were now on Elena's side. The writers have not done justice to this guy. We had WEEKS of his treating Mondriana like something scraped off the bottom of his shoe. And now several people: Gerardo, Ricardo, and Eddie suspect that that shooting was a bit odd. Jorge, not so much. Gah!
I don't fast forward because I just seem incapable of doing that, but I'm up to the back teeth with the repetitive scenes of Diego pleading with Adriana to stay with him, Diego telling her how much he loves her until my teeth ache. If I were Adriana I would have screamed at him to shut up by now!
thanks so much Jean,
this show is putting me to sleep, so recaps are really nice.
not too many servants over at Ernesto's place, it won't be long before the pizza boxes, wine bottles and dirty clothes take the place over, so I'm not seeing them make the move.
so they sealed off the secret room, wasn't that full of treasures, and what about the other entrance?
yep, low batteries, that's it.
thanks Hombre,
I've been too busy to comment but I always read your recaps.
didn't Lilo have satellite pictures from Cuban intelligence, wow, no wonder people think they were involved in JFK's assassination.
Thanks, deb and Novelera. Another dud show, I agree. I was taking notes as it was broadcast and it seemed like every other paragraph was Diego begging Adriana not to leave him. I know the guy is desperate after 6 months of seeing his girl turned into a stranger but really. Can they drag this out any longer? And don't get me started on Jorge! Mónica needs to come back and kick some butt with her team!
I don't know about treasures in the secret room. It looked more like junk and whatever Mondriana needed to pretend to be Mónica - a piano, an evening gown. etc. I don't think that Elena found the other entrance so I guess Mondriana could get in there again that way and play the piano again if it still works after Elena shot it up.
Remember way back when when we all hoped she would find a copy of Mónica's real will in the secret room? Whatever happened with that? Do I care? No.
Thanks, Jean, for injecting some life into last night's episode. It's not surprising that the dije's psychici battery is low, I think so too are the writers' batteries. And, hence, mine as well. [insert loud snore here]
Now that Eddie and Jorge have made contact, I'm hoping that Eddie mentions to Jorge the fact that the shots fired from the car at close range went nowhere near their supposedly intended victim(s). Perhaps that will get Jorge thinking in more productive directions (though not if this turkey of a novela is set to drag on for another month).
What are the odds that we havent' seen the last of Mónica? I'm thinking they're pretty high.
Yikes, Mónica may not be back, but Ernesto has just taken over my skin and typed psychici.
Tks so much Hombre
Yes, this is getting more exciting, interesting, unlike Televisa that jumps the shark before ep 10. Rutila seems smart to me, love clouded her mind. I think she will get out of this alive for season 3.
I found out that a TN is being filmed at the Bonnet house in Fort Lauderdale. I can't find out what it is, but must be Telemundo since it is in Miami. The filming is Sep 8, until 10 PM. Any guesses what it could be?
Ck out the location, beautiful!
http://www.bonnethouse.org/
They also filmed Santa Diabla here. I recognized several of those locations.
Jean, I actually watched this episode so I was particularly impressed by your ability to tease out the glacially slow, barely perceptible plot movement in your recap.
The recap was fully charged, even if the dije appeared to be low on battery. This poor show is positively SOPORIFIC, especially on the heels of Reina, a show that wakes you up wondering WHO? WHAT? HOW WHY? Here, the only question is WHEN????
Thanks for soldiering through and for making such lovely lemonade.

Thanks, Variopinta, for the link. That does look like a fabulous house. I didn't watch much of Santa Diabla, so the pictures didn't prod my memory.
Univision/Venision are also filming somewhere in the Miami area their narco series Ruta 35 which will be seen towards the end of this year.
Danna Garcia will play Sofia the wife of a capo and mother of a 16 year old son who is also in the business.
The potentially interesting scene with the shaman, Cristóbal, is pretty much spoiled by Diego interrupting and disagreeing with what’s being said. [Selma, lock him in a closet!] The shaman tells them that there are two souls attempting to live in her body. Right now the dije keeps Mónica at bay. Neither soul is actually inside. While these souls fight, the body is dying.
Camila comes to the hospital to tell Emiliana that Elena and Gerardo are moving out. She’s thrilled! Meanwhile we see Elena put on gloves and put her Chinese insect crap in several items in Emi’s bathroom: hand soap? face cream?
Tomás arrives with Ricardo at the pensión and receives a rather startlingly warm welcome from Maite, Valeria, and Doña Lupe. He’s told that Mónica is not well enough to give her information just now.
Back upstairs, Adriana has taken off the dije. The shaman says he will perform a ritual to protect both souls until the mission left undone by Mónica has been accomplished. If they don’t go ahead, Adriana’s soul will stay put, but her body will die.
Gerardo wants to have a talk with Jorge. Jorge is glad the pair are leaving but very pointedly asks why now. [Jorge’s IQ fluctuates from episode to episode.] Gerardo tells Jorge that he wants the girls to have the house. He’s working with a lawyer to try to get around the clause (written by Elena) that Gerardo cannot refuse any part of the inheritance or … [I forget what happens if he does. Jean?] Anyway, Gerardo says that the week after next will be signing a document to take over the inheritance [finalizing probate?]. In any case Gerardo says he could rent the house to Cami for $1 per year. He swears Jorge to secrecy about this plan. [I think we know why.]
Emi is back home from the hospital. She has a bad moment outside, but rallies. Elena wants everyone gathered in the Living Room. She announces she and Gerardo are leaving, but she wants to have her wedding in this house, as she’s always dreamed. She puts on quite an act, choking up at having her “family” together if only for one day. Emi agrees on the condition they go far away and she never has to see them again.
Gabe and Rodrigo explain the comic novel to Jennifer. It’s meant to feature people in the neighborhood and inspire them to achieve … something.
Tomás tells Maite and Valeria he not only thinks, he’s certain that he’ll get them asylum in the US. Big scene of joy all around.
Somehow the half-dead Adriana manages to be upright on the beach with Diego. He still has a head like a rock and hasn’t accepted that Adriana will die if they do nothing. He wants to go back to México. [He’s so addled with hormones that he’s forgotten he’s a fugitive from justice there.] Adriana tells him that for their grand love to work out, Mónica has to return. Adriana asks him to please help Mónica with her plan. The quicker it’s accomplished, the quicker she can return.
We see tickets for Jennifer and Gabriel to go to San Diego, but a farewell party is planned, doubtless so Rottweiler can find out and grab her up.
While Elena is trying to wheedle out of Gerardo what he talked about with Jorge, Susana comes to say there’s a policeman in the lobby to see Elena. We hope it’s Eddie, but it may be a red herring.
I liked:
Gabe and Rodrigo explain the comic novel to Jennifer. It’s meant to feature people in the neighborhood and inspire them to achieve … something.
Getting out of the neighborhood probably.
As I recall (and I can't imagine why I store this crap in my memory), if Gerardo refuses any part of the inheritance, the whole thing escheats to the State.
Oh yes, the farewell party. They'll probably invite Susana with predictable consequences. Yawn.
I wondered too about Diego's big desire to go back to Mexico when he wanted there as a fugitive. Duh!
Rutila decides she DOES want to drink wine. Lots of it! She proceeds to get completely drunk, charming Chema. She asks if he has a girlfriend, and he says no. She says, my Dad's problem was all the women (viejas), they always cause the problems (Chacorta is also saying the same thing to Lilo). In the end, she passes out, and Chema just picks her up and places her on her bed, so far, acting like a gentleman (although she is, of course, his prisoner).
AC and crew have decided that one way to locate Chema's lair is to follow the truck activity. They do, and Chacorta is ready to blast right in, although AC says we need to confirm the info. They end up bursting into a warehouse, but it's not Chema's. The scared guy in charge is a pollero (transfers people across the border), and he has a few bricks of drugs. But although he knows who Chema is, he's totally independent of him, and has no idea of his whereabouts. AC is mad, see, we shouldn't have gone in so fast, now Chema knows where WE are.
Garnica wants sex with Lai again. She doesn't want to, says she could tell Chema everything about him. This enrages him, and besides, he says, he already took his Viagra! So he brutally forces her to have sex, making huge bruises on her legs and arms. Then he falls asleep (or passed out drunk). She desperately calls Chema, who says, take his uniform, guns, etc. away, and I'll deal with him. She puts all the stuff in a bag, and Andrews comes to pick it up.
Speaking of Andrews, last time, he had warned Garnica that although he was a general, Chema rules. Andrews also gets to have sex with Helga, who has now had sex with Bert, Inaki, Garnica and Andrews. Helga seems to think all this is helping, but I'm not so sure. Male viewers have been getting some nice shots of Helga's beautiful body, though, so who's complaining?:)
Xime tells Santi that Ruti is Chema's prisoner, and Chema is a ruthless druglord like AC. She relates how Alba says they should flee with Luzma. Santi says he'd do anything for her, but he's not sure about fleeing.
Alba also tells Victor to flee. I'm thinking they can't all flee, we wouldn't have cast members for season 3.
Ignacio apologizes to Leo for hitting Ernie, and they make love, providing male viewers with a nice view of Leo's lovely back.
AC calls Vicky, and says this whole thing is between two rival drug gangs, Chema's and AC's. For Ernie's safety, he should be moved. Promise me you'll do it. Vicky says don't worry, and guess what, my chief of security, Leonor Ballesteros is back in town. Good, says AC, she can protect you. AC knows that Leo will be in charge of Ernie's transfer, and AC can kill them both.
Idiot Vicky agrees to this, and call Leo to tell her, we'll transfer Ernie tomorrow (not mentioning that it was "Danilo's" idea. Leo is strongly opposed, but they'll talk in the morning. Vicky is digging herself in deeper and deeper w/o knowing it. When the truth comes in, she'll be so deep in doo doo that...okay enough with that image.
The real Danilo has freed himself from his shackles, now just has to get out, or contact some help. He sneaks up behind Felix, a guard, and strangles him to death with a handkerchief. Ironically, Monica had just told Ramon, her helper, to get Felix to take Moni into town to do some shopping. More ironically, Ignacio had just told Ana and Elena they got a tip that Monica was coming to the city mall to shop, and they could kill her there.
But none of this will happen, because Felix is dead. Danilo grabs his gun, and moves to the net room, finding Ramon. He grabs him and holds the gun to his head. But Monica's across the room. She starts to reach for a drawer, but he says hold it! Danilo tells Moni to pick up the cell phone, and do exactly what he tells her to. She picks up it, and breaks it in two! He's furious, and shoots Ramon in the leg. But in the confusion, Moni opens the door and stuffs a gun behind her back.
Danilo points the gun at her, and she pretends to be all scared, but she's really acting. She wimpers that she's pregnant. Surprised, he looks down for a second and she pulls her gun! They point guns at each other. She says you wouldn't shoot a pregnant woman, would you? Lower your gun, and we'll talk. He does lower his gun, saying, I'm not like you people. She shoots him dead in the heart, saying, that's right, you're NOT!
Later she tells AC that Felix and Danilo are dead, but it was her life or his.
The tension keeps mounting, as all our mini-plots surge towards their moments of truth!
Thanks, novelera, for yet another excellent recap of a far-from-excellent episode. Loved your asides, such as "[Selma, lock him in a closet!]" and "[Jorge’s IQ fluctuates from episode to episode.]." And I too thought it strange that Diego keeps forgetting that he's a wanted fugitive in Mexico. Unlike Jorge's IQ, which goes up and down, Diego's has been on a downward trajectory for some time.
I keep looking for signs that we're close to the end, but all I see are more ways to drag this turkey on. The fiesta for Jennifer and Gabriel, for example. As you say, it's a clear opportunity for Rottweiler to create trouble. And who knows how much worse Emi may become since Elena has poisoned so many of her things. Arrgh.
Many thanks, Hombre. Your recaps are so good that I can picture everything that's happening even though I haven't seen the novela in months.
I loved your comment "Alba also tells Victor to flee. I'm thinking they can't all flee, we wouldn't have cast members for season 3." Perhaps they'll all flee and season 3 will be something of a travelogue, with AC hunting people down in all kinds of interesting and exotic locations. :-)
thanks hombre awsome recaps.
Juanita funny idea. Ac hunting down his family. They can't escape his "love"
thanks so much novelera,
I'm needing recaps more every day as I find myself gazing out the window during the show.
kind of amazing how Jorge won't give an inch when it comes to Geraldo, who is actually trying to recover something, somehow, from this disaster, but when it comes to Elena, well maybe she is not so bad as everyone thinks, we need one of those courtroom scenes like in "Relaciones Peligrosas" where the judge sentences everyone.
I like the looks on Lorena's face when everyone totally disses Elena.
why oh why after they got things safe at the hospital did they bring Emi home when Elena is still there, at least we can guess that the show will be over before Elena ever moves out of the house.
and I'm guessing Elena had the gloves on so that whatever that was, didn't touch her skin. (reminds me of "Santa Diabla", btw it looks like Ximena Duque has signed on with "Dueños del Paraíso")
thanks so much once again Hombre,
what a perfect and amusing recap!
they pretty much summed up the whole good and evil thing when Danilo lowered his gun and Monica shot him dead, then said "no, you are not like us".
did Chema comment that Aurelio is coming for dinner, Toro looks worried, but Chema thinks his bunker with blind tunnels and such is perfect, and when the Casillas brothers take the wrong warehouse doesn't Toro call Chacorta, then Chema takes the phone and asks for Aurelio, and as Chacorta denies he is alive, Aurelio grabs the phone.
it's a curious dance Chema and Ruti are doing (or is it Maria los Angeles Hernandez, why did they name me Rutila?), I'm thinking he is going to set it up so she also crosses the line, because he keeps reminding himself, too bad she is a Casilla, but afterwards will she escape to then follow in her fathers footsteps?
HaHa!, season 3, Aurelio searches the world for his family who have all fled, arre!
Jean, you sent me on a Saturday morning Wikipedia time suck with escheats. It was obvious what you meant in context, but I loves me a new word!
Deb, I can just see you gazing out the window during this show!
Thanks, Deb. I hadn't thought about Elena wearing gloves to avoid contact with the awful stuff. My mind went to leaving no fingerprints. But you're probably right. When I first saw the scene I thought she was going to put it in Emi's mouthwash, but then I noticed the pump mechanism and concluded it was hand soap. Anyway, the stuff must work on contact with skin as well as being injected right into the body. Ugh!
So that's the end of Danilo! He escapes his shackles only to die at the hands of Monica. They should have sent her to get Rutilla back. It seems like Ernie is opening up to Leo; will he end up in AC's hands, or will she convince Vicky not to transfer him?
I'm actually glad to see Garnica's demise. Ewww.
Chema vs AC... It's like the showdown at the OK Corral; there is no winner.
Lol, I also like the idea for Season 3. Where is my family??
Thanks Hombre; your recaps are stellar!
Thanks for the excellent recap of Friday's episode, Novelera. Since I haven't been around here very long, I am still hopeful that every single lamb won't end up devoured by hungry wolves, and so it occurred to me: what if they decide to put Emi in a different room that is more accessible and then what's-her-name, that metiche that LIKES Elena, is the one who ends up using the poison stuff? No, huh?
Great recap Hombre
Can't blame Rutila for getting drunk with the mess she is in. Funny how she is so grown up & Chema hasn't aged at all in 10 years.
Who is the more perverse AC or Chema?
This TN has picked up, I think I am in for season 3.
Good to have you aboard, NovelaMaven! And I really like your suggestion of the room switch and Susana starting to lose sensation in her legs! [Boy, that was mean! I just can't bear the little snitch!]
I am hopeful, as much as you can be with the dire things that have happened to good people in this novela, that they won't really go with Emiliana getting worse because of exposure to that toxin.
Thanks recappers. I finally caught up again. This week we had a little movement, and then we ground to another halt. I really want this one to be over, but I've invested so much time already that I'll be here to the end. I guess about six more weeks.
It really drives me crazy how much action there is at the beginning of a TN and then things just slow down to molasses speed. I really feel that the networks are alienating their audience by dragging these shows out for months past their sell by date.
Thanks Novelera. Loved your comment about Jorge's IQ. I dont think he's the right guy for Selma at all. I even found myself thinking that she and the Shaman would make a nice couple. He's more like Esteban while Jorge is w/o balls and just boring.
Deb, I like your idea. What if Lorena, in her ever present quest for approval, spent time in Emi's room and came in contact with one of the products. Certainly if it happened to another person people will put 2 n 2 together.
