TELEMUNDO Y MÁS: THE FRONT PAGE — El Señor de los Cielos II, En Otra Piel, et cetera, week of September 8, 2014

Both these shows are in their final weeks, soon to be replaced by Señora Acero and Los Miserables.  Even if you’re not watching the novelas, it’s worth stopping by to read the remarkable recaps of Novelera, Jean and Kelly (En Otra Piel) and Hombre de Misterio (El Señor de los Cielos, II).

Have a great week!

I'm looking forward to this one.

just discovered En otra piel. Must admit, quite smitten with it. Saw the original version a few years ago. loved it too. I think it was clever switching the male lead to a female. she brought sensitivity and passion to the part. They could have done away with the prostitution ring and sex slaves though. We know these things happen, but its hard to watch. I would love to hate Geraldo, but i can't. He is just as much a victim of Elena as Monica was. He just had privileges. Can't wait to see if she comes back into Adriana's body tonight.

EN OTRA PIEL – LUNES – Part 1

More scenes with Diego getting on my last nerve. He tells Adriana that he was helping Mónica because he thought she suffered from Multiple Personality Disorder. Adriana says she knows he saw something good in Mónica’s soul. Just then Emiliana calls. She’s sent Adriana a photo. Adriana doesn’t know what a “selfie” is. Adriana shows the photo to Diego and asks him to have sympathy for this child. Emi tells Adriana that she feels like she betrayed her mother. Emi misses her mother and Mondriana. Adriana tells Diego that the child will never be happy if her mother doesn’t appear.

Camila has come to Marta for some comfort. She tells her that she doesn’t know how to respond when Emi says she’d rather be dead than helpless. Marta reassures her and says that she needs to be strong. Marta invites Cami to the farewell party for Jennifer and Gabriel.

The cop who has come to see Elena IS Eddie. Good! [Why does the idiot Susana glare in the background when Eddie starts to speak to Elena?] Eddie says he has been told there was an attack on Elena and her cousin and wants to ask some questions about this. Gerardo, looking uncomfortable, interjects that the LA cops are in charge of this, and why does he want to question Elena. [Eddie is FBI, I think.] Eddie responds that, if it’s true that one of the attackers was the hitman of Carlos Ricalde, then this case also is in their purview. Elena plays innocent and cooperative.

Back at the pensión Doña Lupe tells the girls that they’ll have no problem running the place because they’ll be legal. Rodrigo arrives and makes a crack about Lupe getting married the 9th time. She tells him it’s the 7th and the last. Lupe announces that Maite and Valeria will soon be legal in the US. Lupe says they’re planning a celebration and Rodrigo says this is quite the coincidence because he came to ask if it’s OK to have a farewell party for Jennifer and Gabriel. ¡Por supuesto! They’re all in a state of happiness that I’m certain won’t last!

Eddie asks Elena about working with Carlos Ricalde. Elena makes it sound like he insinuated himself bit by bit. Eddie: “What was the deal he had set up with you? You never suspected his real intentions?”

At Selma’s house she tells Jorge that it concerns her how weak Adriana is. Jorge again experiences a drop in IQ. He suggests taking Adriana to a medical doctor and that Cristóbal might be a charlatan. Selma tells him that, if Mónica’s soul doesn’t return, Adriana will die.

Lorena notices that Jorge is nervous about what’s happening with Eddie and Elena. She says she thinks they’re hiding something even more horrible [than killing her own sister?] He tells her to shut it unless she wants to see her daughter in jail.

Diego pounds on Selma’s door. When admitted, he is carrying Adriana, who has fainted. Adriana, weakly, tells him to call the shaman tout suite. She looks ready to die.

EN OTRA PIEL – LUNES – Part 2

I do love Eddie interrogating Elena. He reminds me of Colombo. He’s vary mild, but insistent. He tells Elena that her cousin heard about 10 shots. A rain of bullets, she says. He asks how close the attacker was, 16 feet? He says those were exactly the circumstances that interested his bosses. That in spite of the relatively close proximity of the car and the excessive number of shots, they only found three bullet holes. Elena: “What are you trying to say?” Eddie: “ That it appears like it was a plan to seem like an attempt to kill.” Elena: “”I don’t like what you’re insinuating” [She lost her cool a bit there and Eddie definitely noticed.] Eddie: “I didn’t express myself well. Either they were extremely bad shots or they had orders not to harm anyone.”

Back to Selma’s. Things are in process for the ritual. Selma and Jorge are staying around. Adriana asks a moment to say goodbye to Diego. She tells him not to make things worse than they already are. She has to go.

Back to the mansion for the Eddie Show. He’s moved his focus back to Ricalde. Elena says that the guy didn’t spend as much time in the office as he should have done. Eddie asks if they didn’t grill him about this. Elena says that he came on board as a shareholder. Eddie asks her if perhaps he tried to get them involved in his illicit activities. Elena doesn’t answer but looks perturbed. Eddie goes on to ask if he can see the documents that describe the capital Ricalde put into the company. Elena says this is private and only under a court order would this be revealed. Eddie: “But couldn’t the money Ricalde put into the company have been from illegal sources?” Elena finally plays the nauseated pregnant woman card to get out of the interrogation.

Back to Lorena and Gerardo. She wants to know what’s going on. She asks about the shooting attempt, seeming to smell something fishy. Gerardo: “Why do you ask? Do you know the serious nature of what your daughter has done? Do you think a pregnancy can wipe all of this clean?” Lorena says he’s equally or even more guilty. [Ay, Lorena, your denial is driving me crazy. Just die soon, please!]

Whoops, I was mistaken my last recap. Adriana still has on the dije. Cristóbal takes it off. Diego protests. [Shut up, Diego!]

Gerardo asks Elena how things went. She says Eddie is just a boy playing cop. And that the only loose end will be solved on Saturday, with the speeded up wedding date. They are the only ones who can tell on each other, and once they’re married they can’t testify against each other.

Pachuco and Rottweiler discuss possible virtues of celibacy. Rott says there was a woman he liked, but she got mixed up with another guy. Her name is Jennifer.

Jennifer and Gerardo tempt fate by saying the neighborhood is probably safe and Rottweiler far away.

EN OTRA PIEL - LUNES - Part 3

Ok, so it’s WOO WOO time. The shaman Cristóbal speaks to Adriana in some strange language while holding her hand.

Elena is admiring pricey wedding cakes online. She goes on to talk about the three-course menu for the wedding dinner. She gets an odd feeling, like air passing by her!

AAAAARGGHH! After a torture-the-viewer scene in Emi’s bathroom in which Emi says she’s not even sure she can wash her own hands, Marta helpfully says that she can. And Emi does! And we know what’s in that hand soap!

Jennifer receives a letter. She got the scholarship to study marine biology. Gabriel rains on her parade by reminding her she’s going to be a mother and can’t possibly accept. She agrees with him. Eileen bursts out that she wouldn’t be the first woman to study with a baby. Gabriel, very sanctimoniously, says that a mother has to be with her baby all the time during the first years. He asks her to wait. All the women turn their backs, disgusted.

Rodrigo asks his son if he’s crazy Does he know how hard it is to get a scholarship like the one Jennifer got? He asks his son where he got this machismo from. Rod: “Tell her to accept the scholarship. Are you going to take away her dreams?" Gabriel. "No."

Back to the woo-woo stuff. Cristóbal asks for photos of Mónica’s children to be placed next to Adriana. He asks Selma to talk to her. Selma gets close and tells her that she has two children in danger. She has to return. BIG GASP! Diego, eyes welling up with tears: “Adriana?” Looks like Mónica to me.

CIELOS - Lunes

This was a set-up episode for the big fireworks to come.

We see Garnica passed out, having been dressed in a bra and not much else, a tray of cocaine on his lap, red lipstick on his lips, as Andrews takes pictures! Lai enters, Andrews tells her Garnica will be apologizing to her. When the General wakes up, Andrews tells him "I told you Chema was boss". Garnica tries to lunge at Andrews, who pulls a gun (Garnica's gun and badge have been taken away), and coolly stops Garnica from trying anything. Garnica knows he's lost, and does apologize to Lai, who tells him when a woman says no, that means NO.

Elena is really upset that the death squad is faking records to hide the truth from Leo. She tells Ana and Ig that she will no longer fire weapons in their killings, but isn't going to turn them in, either. For now, she'll go to the mall where Monica was supposed to show up.

At the mall, Monica DOES show up. Elena calls Ig, who's meeting with Leo and Vicky. They had been discussing transferring Ernie, and Leo gets Vicky to wait one more day, she wants to interrogate Ernie some more. Vicky gets a call from AC/Danilo, who pumps her from info on the transfer, and although she doesn't tell exactly where, she gives him enough info for him to tell his men how they'll intercept the transfer, and grab Ernie. If things go wrong, kill him.

Chema tells Andrews, if things go wrong, kill Ernie. I'm beginning to feel a little worried about Ernie. Ernie finally agrees to help Leo a little, in exchange for letting him write a letter to Rutila. Leo agrees. Ernie tells her that Andrews works for Chema. This is a shock for Leo, but could come in handy. Leo gives Ernie pencil and paper.

Ernie's picture is on the front page of the newspaper, arrested for murder, working for Chema, etc. Alba, Ximena and Victor are saddened, but not surprised.

Chema calls Chacorta, says put your brother on the line, Chacorta says he's dead, but Chema isn't buying that, and AC grabs the phone. Finally, says Chema, we get to talk. AC is livid, threatening to tear Chema to pieces. Chema calmly says if that's your attitude, I'm hanging up (and he does). They call back, AC is calmer now, AC wants proof that Ruti is okay.

CIELOS - Part 2

Chema has Ruti make a video, holding the newspaper with Ernie's photo to prove the date, and she says Dad, I'm fine, please negotiate with these guys. Then she gets teary and adds, but I just want a NORMAL LIFE! After the video's over, Chema tries to reassure her he'll give her everything, but a normal life isn't too easy at this point. She says if things go wrong, would you kill me? He hesitates, proving he would, the business always comes first. He softly says if we get through all this, I will try to give you that normal life. (Unlikely!)

I guess the video gets to AC. Chema tells Toro he's going to demand all sorts of territory, such as Europe, etc., in exchange for Rutila. When AC calls again, Chema says you're in Juarez, right? Well, I want to do the exchange in Guadalajara. At the Villa Catalina! Chema thinks this is neutral territory, but I think AC has more power there, that's Vicky's town. Chacorta and Saul both tell AC it's time to take off the mask with Vicky, but he continues to say not yet.

Ig goes in the hall to call Elena back, are you sure it's Monica Robles? Yes, she is. Ig and Ana carefully close up their disguised headquarters in the basement of the police building, and head off to the mall. But Leo has been tailing them!!!

It's revealed that Helga is 1) European aristocracy, 2) Inaki's ex-wife, and 3) his cousin!! How nice.

Toro calls Lai, tells her that there's going to be a big meeting of Chema and AC, at Villa Catalina, and she's to be the hostess! This is not good, since Lai has been playing the two druglords off again each other, both think she's on their side. Lai gulps.

So now we have 3 things about to happen: 1.Ernie's prison transfer, 2. Elena, Ana, Ig, Leo and Monica at the mall, and 3. The meeting of at Villa Catalina. It's time for more action!!

En Otra Piel

thanks so much novelera!

Diego is such a brute it always amazes me how anyone could drag him out of a room, it must be his kind heart giving in, this guy is really tormented, it's a 'gran amor' thing.

so if Monica comes back it should put to rest any doubts that there are two separate people here, except for Jorge of course.

well, I guess we had a glimmer of hope that Emi's place was not handicap accessible, the door was almost too small for the wheelchair and the sink is way higher than the average sink, no trouble at getting to the upper floors though which is normal novela.

hmm, I wonder what the purpose of closing off the secret room was, and with Monica coming back, it may still have the outside entrance, and there was that other peephole into the study that Jorge used once.

and I'm thinking Diego is going to be sticking to Monica like glue to get this over with as soon as possible.

En Otra Piel

Spotted an error this morning. In Part 1 of the recap, next to last paragraph, I should have said Lorena notices Gerardo being nervous, not Jorge.

Cielos 2

thanks Hombre,
for another wonderful recap!

I didn't get the part on how Leo is going to get that letter to Ruti,
and what could he say, since everyone will probably read it.

it's nice that Leo is getting the whole picture.

and instead of a coffin, Danilo is in a coffin sized freezer, for his viewing.

En Otra Piel

Hanna,

I'm glad to see your comment here. I hope to hear more from you. For one thing, Gerardo needs all the sympathizers he can get :)

Novelera,

Another crackerjack recap! I didn't think of Columbo last night, but as soon as you mentioned his interrogation technique, I realized it fit Eddie like a dirty, wrinkled raincoat!

The "woo-woo stuff" -- love the description. Well this is why I'm here: I want to see this Mondriana everyone has been talking about. Bring it on!

Cielos
Great Hombre, tks

You're beginning to worry about Ernie, LOL. It's obvious he will not make it to season 3 with both AC & Chema wanting to kill him. I don't think Lai will make season 3 either.

Yea, Garnica got what he deserves except that he is still alive. I've been wondering when he ever did his Generaling.

Cielos

Thanks Hombre...things are heating up really fast!
Everybody wants to kill Ernie! I don't think his future is looking too good.
I wonder if this will be the end for Monica. I don't know if she signed on for Season 3. Her death would enrage AC even more. He seems to be getting careless since Ruti's been taken, and Monica getting killed could put him over the edge.
I love what they did to Garnica...well deserved. Now I'm anxious to see how Lai handles this meeting between AC and Chema.
It's really moving fast now!

CIELOS:

Thanks for the comments, everyone. I also have no idea how Leo could get Ernie's letter to Rutila.

One thing I left out was that Elena said Monica was pregnant, and shopping for baby things. Normally, telenovela rules says you can't shoot a pregnant woman. This prevented Danilo from shooting her. And I think the same will hold true with Leo, Ignacio, Ana and Elena. No one will shoot Monica. And she'll survive to season 3! Or maybe just the baby will survive. I don't think they'd have her lose the baby twice.

EN OTRA PIEL

I forgive this show for all its slowness of the last few weeks after seeing how disgusted everyone was with Gabe. Dude. You draw characatures in the park and SHE has to give up HER dreams? Plans that could actually get them somewhere? Good for Rod pointing out that he might actually have to care for his infant. And sitting in a park all day is a pretty ideal job for also being the primary caregiver. Yeah, Show!

EL SENOR

Interesting watching Chema's fascination with Ruti. Not that he'd ever fall in love, but this is probably the first woman he's ever respected. And she's probably smarter than most the guys in his organization, including Toro. She'd be quite the foe if she were in to that (but I'm glad she's not).

Please don't kill Lai! Other than Ruti, she's the most likable woman here. And smart enough to run her own drug business if she wants.

Feminism day on Telemundo, I guess. Even Reina got in the act!

Kelly

En Otra Piel

Great recap, Novelera. Thanks very much. Loved your "it's WOO WOO time."

I'm really disheartened to learn that there are three more weeks to go. Enough time to pile on all kinds of unpleasantness. Arrgh. Apparently Telemundo was chopping away at the delightfully madcap Reina de Corazones, whereas what they should have been chopping is the extraordinarily drawn out and repetitious En Otra Piel.

Kelly, unlike you I don't forgive Telemundo for many needless weeks of En Otra Piel, but I agree that the scene last night with everyone turning away from Gabriel for his male chauvinist piggery was a very pleasant surprise. And you're right--there seemed to be feminism across the board last night, starting with Reina finally standing up to Victor in Reina de Corazones.

Cielos
thanks hombre
personal death predictions
For sure to die:
Ernie, Toro, Ignacio, garnica
Maybe to die:
Chema, chacorta, monica,

its getting exiting !

En Otra Piel

OK, I've been wondering about something. When Gerardo told Elena to demonstrate how much she loved him by agreeing to move out of the mansion, I thought she agreed to right away.

She made a big announcement in front of everyone that they were leaving and Emi and Cami would have the house if only she could have her wedding there. The way she said it sounded to me like moving now and coming back for the wedding. Now it looks like they're staying put until AFTER the wedding.

So, opinions? Do you think she EVER plans to move into that apartment? Probably once she gets an "I do" out of Gerardo, she'll come up with a reason to stay.

If she moves it will be temporary but my guess is that she will not move. Poor Emi. If Ger and la bruja get married will Ger go through with the will thingy? or will it be too late?
I love Monica more than Adrianna so shoot me,lol. Adri is a nice girl but I feel so bad for Monica. If Monica stays she can stay with Diego and he can keep calling her Adrianna, ugh
Romy

En otra piel

Omg I was so fed up with these silly meaningless weeks of nothing! I'm so glad monica is back, I hope she is dear me someone save emi, geez if I see that nobody replaces the bathroom products I'm going to pull hair! Lol

I'm so sick of nothing happening but hopefully there's progress with Eddie and Monica this time, but trying to convince an FBI agent will be hard and I do hope monica contributes and cooperates with Eddie.
Though I hope he doesn't start finding her suspicious or as a suspect.

Did everyone forget about the peephole that Jorge used to spy on above the secret room or the office? Nobody has found that secret garden entrance except for Diego, so hopefully monica can still use that.

I keep telling my mom that the big series finale will end on Elena's fancy rich wedding haha I keep joking that it would be funny if she has her wedding in the house, and she's happy and feels so alive and loved and wanted and admired, thinking she will have a great long life with Gerardo and then monica and the team (hoping it's everyone in the novella) interrupt and show a PowerPoint presentation or video on how Elena was recorded admitting she killed monica Serrano. Either that or I'd like for monica to play piano as a wedding gift only to shock the entire family and guests, then she can announce with such honor that she is monica Serrano.

Its only a thought, an idea that probably even happen but who knows how everything will turn out.

Now that it's in the final episodes, I like observing and talking more about Elena. I forgot to include or even comment in the previous posts but I'm so amazed by human behavior that I'm studying psychology at the moment and seeing how she thinks and easily manipulates makes me believe she's a sociopath. She was made this way by the trauma she experienced in her early childhood. But then I think she's a psychopath because the hatred that stemmed off from Lorena "raising her" piled into something very dark and Elena decided to start a horrible fire. I didn't know that bit and it's intriguing trying to see where it all came from...the feeling of want, desire, lust, and how much she craved attention. The poor child could've been saved, which is what monica regrets not seeing, I remember she said that a while back but she really felt bad for her and her troubled past. Sorry to be to involved with the show but I don't watch novellas like my parents do but when I do, I stick through it and I usually find something I'm interested in.

Enough babbling on, hope this weeks eps are exhilarating!!!!

En Otra Piel

Welcome, Maria. I don't remember seeing you posting about the novela before. Interesting comments you have made!

OK, my DVR betrayed me. I didn't get the whole episode recorded. Fortunately, at least where I live, they repeat it at midnight, so I will be able to see it tomorrow night.

Anyway, here's what I did see.

Mónica is back! Diego mopes his way out of the room, ugly crying. Diego, man up!!!

Cristóbal, the shaman, gives Diego the dije (ooooh, that's kinda risky) in a little wooden box. He tells him he has to hide it somewhere meaningful to Adriana and that Mónica has to accompany him when he does this.

Eileen did an amazing, funny monologue about all the bad things that were going to happen to Gabriel if he didn't get behind Jennifer's studies. It must have worked because later, at the party, he convinced Jennifer to take the scholarship.

Jorge comes to stay at the mansion and Elena opens the door looking SO much like Elvira, Mistress of the Dark.

Mónica sneaks into the mansion to see Emiliana, who's overjoyed to see her. Emi does notice that she speaks "normally" now. But in the middle of Emi's enjoyment, Gerardo comes in looking like a storm cloud [or actually like an egotistical man who's been rejected].

And, that's all my recording got! I'm crossing my fingers there were no Rottweiler sightings in the rest of the episode.

En Otra Piel

thanks novelera!

Diego looked like the only one cheering for the losing team at a football game, when Monica came back, poor guy.

Jorge drives me nuts, but I'm guessing he was running interference with Elena so Monica could sneak in.

I keep thinking Monica is going to have to make a run to the secret room and there is no more door.

Yep, Elena is all ready for Halloween.

En Otra Piel

Thanks, Novelera, for your recap of what you saw. I'll be traveling for a week starting tomorrow, and last night I realized that I was delighted not to be watching En Otra Piel while I was away. That led to the next realization: if I feel that way, why am I continuing to watch at all? So I think I'm outta here until perhaps the last day. I'll follow the recaps with much gratitude, but I'm very happy at the thought that I won't have to watch Mónica go through her now very expected and limited range of actions and expressions. Ditto for Adriana. And, indeed, for almost everyone in the novela. There's no longer anyone I really enjoy watching.

I probably won't be able to post while I'm away, so thanks in advance to all the talented, stalwart recappers.

En Otra Piel:

Thanks for the recapette, Novelera. I missed the beginning of the capitulo so I will definitely watch to see Eileen who is my favorite character and if she doesn't end up with a guy by the Gran Final, I am going to be very annoyed.

No, there were no appearances by Rottweiler or any other bad guys. The farewell party, so far, is going smoothly.

As I recall, nothing happened except that Mondriana hung out with Emiliana for quite a while. Elena took Jorge to the guest house. Mondriana is told about what happened when she was "gone" and she is sure that Elena is poisoning Emi. She is confused as the rest of the good guys about the supposed shooting where Elena saved Cami's life.

At the end, I believe that Elena, Jorge, Ric and Cami come into the house and Gerardo tells them that Mondriana is with Emi.

En Otra Piel:
To respond to your question, Novelera, about whether Elena really intends/ed to move out of the mansion. I think that it was typical Elena deviousness. Yes, I agree to move out but I want to have my wedding with the family (gag). That could certainly mean that she moved out and came back for the wedding ceremony but it rapidly became obvious that she meant that she had to stay living in the house until the wedding. Nobody really asked but she could say that she would have to be at the house all day making arrangements, etc. so why not just stay. It can take a loooong time to plan a wedding so who knows how long she'll be there meanwhile doing evil things to Emi and possibly Cami. So once again, she has outsmarted Gerardo by appearing to meet his ultimatum but really continuing to do what she wants.
Bottom line - no I don't think she intends to leave the house.

CIELOS - Martes

Rutila goes into full on seductive mode with Chema, breathless asking if he could just let her go, they could say she escaped...Chema is SOOO tempted, but...no. So off they go to Guadalajara.

AC wants to figure out where they're going to be holding Ruti, but Lilo says Chema has so many houses all over the country, I'm not sure we can check them all.

At the mall, Monica's cop sense tells her that the woman over there (Elena) is a cop, and she tells Ramon. They call AC for help, and he's pissed, but tells Chacorta to send some guys to the mall to rescue Monica. Elena also wants reinforcements, and Ignacio and Ana are on their way.

Can you guess who gets there first? The bad guys, of course. Elena follows Monica to the parking lot, where Moni and Ramon get into their SUV, and start to leave. She writes down the license plate, calls Ig, hurry! But one of Chacorta's men shoots her dead, twice in the back. Ignacio arrives just then, fires at the thug, but he gets away, leaving Ig in despair. They do find the piece of paper with the license plate, though. The SUV is owned by some local company, and they figure it's their only clue, it may be a company used to launder funds.

Meanwhile, Leo has discovered the death squad's secret headquarters, and is shocked at what Ignacio did. She also finds that Monica Robles is alive! So far she doesn't tell Vicky, but she does tell her that Ernie said Andrews is working for Chema. They both think Garnica is, too. Leo wants to personally supervise Ernie's transfer. She goes to his cell, and he gives her the letter for Rutila.

Outside the police station, Chacorta is waiting, ready to kill Ernie. But here's comes Victor! What's HE doing here? Vic goes into the station, and Leo allows him to visit Ernie. He tells Ernie he feels for him, but Ernie made his own bed. And where is Ruti? Ernie says she's in Juarez, I never meant to hurt her, I really love her, but that damn Chema double-crossed me? Did you kill all those people? asks Vic? Nah, just one, Chema's men killed the others. But Chacorta is waiting outside to kill me. For the sake of our friendship, is there anything you can do? Vic says he'll try.

He goes outside, walks right up to Chacorta's SUV, Chacorta is freaking out! He says the cops know you're here, they're coming out right now. Chacorta has no choice but to leave, as inside, Ernie tells Leo, Chacorta's right outside, here's your chance! She rushes out with tons of cops, but Chacorta has just left. So no capture of Chacorta, but Ernie's still alive.

Leo is shocked to hear that Elena is dead, and tells Ignacio she knows all about the death squad, how COULD he?

Helga calls AC, I can give you Garnica on a silver platter. AC is interested. That Helga is treading in deep waters, and I bet she'll have that smile wiped off her face before long.

Andrews gives Garnica his clothes back, get dressed, you need to look good for the big meeting. Lai is also ready. Chema leaves Rutila in some luxurious house in another part of town. He then arrives at Villa Catalina, and proceeds to show the General who's boss. Garnica at first tries to play tough, but eventually has to say yessir, he'll follow Chema's orders.

AC and his men are arriving at nine. Here we go!!!!!

Cielos 2

thanks Hombre,
your smooth recaps always connect the dots for me!

so do we start thinking Chema is a good guy now, nice house he has for Ruti, but didn't they take her to her room, probably windowless and a big lock on the door.

not sure what Chema's ultimate plans for Ruti are, he uses people plain and simple, maybe it's that he knew her as a little girl, the daughter he never had.

always amazing how this Colombiana, Leo, can scrape up a dozen or so Mexican masked armored police at a moments notice, but, then she is the only one that can figure things out.

and Ernie lives to see another day, thanks to Victor.

recent events seem to rule out another friendly visit to Danilo's where Ignacio could spill the apple cart, but then they would all end up dead anyway.

so there is still some honor among thieves as Chema/Toro meet Aurelio/Chacorta, two on two at Villa Catalina (which could become world famous in an instant), wasn't/isn't Chema's original plan to eliminate the Casillas?

Cielos

Thanks so much Hombre; ITA that you fill in all of the blanks for me too!
So Ernie's luck hasn't run out yet; Leo's going to protect him!
Ignacio didn't seem too upset about losing Elena. I thought that was comical how he was running around the mall with his gun drawn, and a clueless look on his face. He is so "in over his head."
I'm confused about Chema's mixed signals. One minute he is putting a gun to someone's head, and the next he is a peaceful negotiator. That would be a turn of events if he let Ruti escape.
Lai looked really apprehensive about this face to face meeting; Chema is definitely aware she works for AC too.
Wow, Chacorta really does have a short fuse, the way he hauled off and whacked Victor.
OT: the girl who plays Helga is also on La Gata playing a rich girl who wants to marry the galan.
Thanks again.

En Otra Piel

Thanks for filling in the not very much that happened after the DVR crapped out, Jean.

A couple of episodes ago Elena told Gerardo, who wasn't thrilled, that she had moved up the wedding date and that it would be Saturday. Of course, at the pace this novela moves, it could take two weeks for it to be Saturday of the novela week.

Cielos

Thanks yet again, Hombre.

Has anyone seen any casting info for Season 3? I'm not going to be watching Season 3, but the cast info would tell us who is likely to survive.

En Otra Piel

Novelera, I loved your comment about the wedding date being moved up to Saturday: "Of course, at the pace this novela moves, it could take two weeks for it to be Saturday of the novela week." How true!

Cielos
Tks mucho Hombre

I don't think Chema has anything near a fatherly feeling for Rutila. Even when he saw her at 9 yrs old I thought he was ogling her like a lecher.

Poor Victor, I hope he can escape.

EN OTRA PIEL, Wed. Pt.1

So this recap is only bits and pieces. The antenna, that was working just fine for Reina, has decided to crap out. Pull out your Breaking Out of Beginner’s Spanish book, turn to the chapter on swearing, and those are the words I was using for most of this hour. Apologies, and also %#*@% tu madre to the antenna.

When it finally comes in, Gabe and Jenny are talking when Eileen, in her dress that she is way too cute to be wearing, dramatically interrupts. Then she starts talking about them separating and that it will all lead to divorce, etc. But Jenny tells her that she’s going off to school and Eileen is all happy and congratulates Gabe on his conversion from caveman.

Diego is dying without Adriana, he can’t breathe, so on. Rod tries to get him to enjoy the fiesta and drags him downstairs.

Camila has interrupted Mondriana and Emi, and is talking to her while I swear some more at the antenna fuzz.

Ger has proposed some agreement to calm things down. Elena just wants to know how Mondri got in the house. She used her keys, which she gives back to Elena. She is accused again of messing everyone with the piano playing and so on, but she says she heard everything too and got scary messages. She’s sure it’s the soul of Monica Serrano (love how they always use everyone’s last name, as though people might not know which other Monica this Monica could be talking about) who can’t rest in peace.

20 minutes of swearing later, Cami and Rodrigo are talking about the secret roof and what was going on down there. Cami STILL blames Mondriana because it’s the only explanation she can think of because she has zero imagination. (Could be really talented mutant mice, Cami. Or a poisonous gas that gives everyone musical hallucinations. See? There’s two perfectly reasonable possibilities besides Mondriana). Rod still tries to defend Mondri, to no effect.

Marta apparently said some really nice things to Jenny that Jenny is grateful for. Rod tells her that she and Gabe need to support each other.

Eddie comes by and all the girls know who he’s there to see. Vale greets him at the door. He’s not much for parties but really wanted to see her. She leads him in to introduce him to everyone.

Mondri thanks Jorge for everything.

Cami harasses Emi about Mondri. Emi says she just doesn’t understand the connection she has with Mondri, and Cami thinks she’s being childish, having feelings and stuff that Cami has to ignore.

Selma has shown up at the party. She congratulates Gabe and Jenny and finds out Jenny is going to San Francisco. Selma knows someone there who owns a clothing store, where she thinks she could get a job for Jenny until the baby comes. Full time school and retail on your feet all day while pregnant? Jenny is in for a hell of a year. But she thanks Selma happily.

EN OTRA PIEL, Wed. Pt. 2

Dona Lupe is there with her Philipino man who understands nothing of what is happening because he doesn’t speak English or Spanish. He seems nice, but does he even know he’s getting married? Diego thanks her sweetly for everything she did for him, and she takes her leave of everyone and goes with the new man. Then Eileen wants to paaaaartttaaayayyy. Also Susanna is there for some reason.

Ger enters the bedroom where Elena is working on the computer. She does her harpy thing and nags him endlessly about Mondriana and his helping her. (Gerardo. Is this really better than life in prison?)

Mondri talks to Diego at Lupe’s and tries to apologize to him and thank him for this ability to do, I don’t know, something. (more fuzz).

Next day- Emi is in a much better mood having seem Mondri, and Marta is happy for her. Gabe and Jenny come by and Emi is happy for them too.

Eileen notes that the house smells funny (sage?) and asks her mom about it, but doesn’t really get an answer. She opens the door to leave and there is Camila. They greet each other as warmly as you’d expect (Eileen calls her “archenemy” and “vampire”), but Cami is there to talk to Selma. After Eileen leaves, they sit down and Cami tells her she wants to talk about Mondri. (But will she actually listen this time? Possibly, since it’s ultimas capitulas).

Diego is at the beach in a clump of palm trees (even though trees on the beach isn’t really a thing in CA), and he talks to Adriana’s soul box and cries, while Mondriana looks on and cries. There’s a lot of crying even though Adriana isn’t really dead-dead. Then Mondri wants to talk to her box, and thanks her while Diego just glares at her. He takes back his Adribox and buries it right there under the trees on a public beach! Where a dog could dig it up and someone will think their dog has found them a really great hippie necklace. Some stranger is going to walk around with Adriana around their neck all because Diego couldn’t spring for a safe deposit box with an ocean picture inside. Maybe a satellite radio with wave sounds.

And now the antenna is working just fine. @^#%$. What did I miss that was good?

Kelly

En Otra piel

thanks so much Kelly!
I share your frustration with fuzzy antennas, no captions, no pictures, and all of the other variations.

Monica and Emi are real soul mates and I can never see them apart, no mater of much Monica swears to Diego and Adriana she will make this quick, since she hasn't yet.

and so Monica finally leaves Emi, walking down the stairs into the Elena tirade with all present, Lorena usually hovering behind someone while standing up for Elena and her baby, Jorge, looking here and there, Geraldo the peace maker, and Ricardo trying to comfort Cami, who's looking confused and tormented, but Monica stands her ground and hands Cami the keys.

then Monica goes off to the guest house to chat with Jorge who is now staying there and later gives her a ride, (remember they are way out in vine country and Monica doesn't own a car, but shares everything else she has with Adriana)

I think that was Ricardo (not Rodrigo) that talked to doubting Cami about, is she really that bad, Monica.

I'm still scratching my head with Lupe's new, can't speak spanish, Philipino husband, well there was a sign at the party that said newly married but I guess no one was invited to the wedding, and there was a scene where they were trying to talk to each other making little pictures with there fingers.

and yes, why is Susana at the party?

and I kept waiting for Monica to walk in and run into Eddy.

"Gerardo. Is this really better than life in prison?" haha Kelly, lock me up!

Yes, why is Diego burying Adriana at a public beach, will she wake up in a nest, as a little turtle? (I mean it's like he is never going to see her again if he loses that box with the 'dije', right?)

En Otra Piel:

Fuzzy antennas do good things to you, Kelly. What a funny recap. I haven't seen the episode and now I don't want to!

Que the hell - Diego buried the dije on a beach?!?

I loved:
(love how they always use everyone’s last name, as though people might not know which other Monica this Monica could be talking about) who can’t rest in peace. I always thought it was weird that Monica kept her name in her reincarnated state.

and

(Could be really talented mutant mice, Cami. Or a poisonous gas that gives everyone musical hallucinations. See? There’s two perfectly reasonable possibilities besides Mondriana).

and I really cracked up at:
(Gerardo. Is this really better than life in prison?)

Eileen had that moomoo dress on that made her look like she was pregnant. Not a good look at all.

CIELOS - Miércoles

Here we go with the meeting of the titans, AC and Chema! But first, let's check in on our other characters. Garnica apparently did not put on his dress uniform, he's upstairs with Helga, in bed. She get's him drunk, then turns on her phone recorder. She records him saying he's the head of the Anti Drug Unit, and that he's been working with Chema Venegas for years! Uh oh, general, you're in trouble now!

Rutila is in some luxurious room, and can't find a way out.

Lai is nervous, Inaki is drinking, Andrews is trying to manage the situation.

In the war room, AC has Chacorta, Chema has Toro. AC roars, where's my daughter! Give her back or I'll tear you to pieces! Chema keeps his cool, says let's have a drink and go business. Guns are pulled a few times, but eventually Chema has AC agree to give him France and Italy. And I think he also wants some of AC's army contacts in Venezuela, not sure about that one. AC and Chacorta aren't happy about the whole thing. The switch is supposed to take place tomorrow. I think both sides are preparing for some kind of double cross.

Leo is very upset with Ignacio. Ignacio says don't you love me? He begs Leo to let them finish the job, get Monica and AC, then he'll turn himself in. Leo isn't sure she even believes THAT, maybe he'll flee.

Chacorta is mad at Irma for letting Victor go to Guadalajara and mess up the Ernie thing. Irma apologizes, Chacorta says you don't get off that easy. Irma says Pepe wants more money to reshoot the film or something like that. Chacorta says pay him. We then see Pepe and his two cronies. Pepe says we can get info from Chacorta, and then sell it to Chema. One of the cronies, Memo I think, has known Chema since childhood. These guys are signing their own death warrants, if you ask me.

Since the deal has been made, the parties retire for the night. Monica is upset that AC will go with Vicky. And she's right, AC breaks into Vicky's house somehow, and despite her misgivings, soon they're making love. He wants to know what some army guys are doing, for security's sake, and idiot Vicky just calls the generals and is going to tell AC everything!

Our other pair is Chema and Ruti. She wants to get drunk again, is seductive, tells him her eyes have been opened, maybe she will join the family business. He says you should go college, she says yes, I'll major in business administration, and maybe I could advise my father! You guys need some feminine intelligence.

More action tonight! However due to the Ravens football game, I won't be able to recap until Saturday. See you then!

Cielos
thanks hombre
I.would like to.hear does anyone have predictions on.how the.novela or season will.end, either serious or funny. Personally I think AC will realise that the drug business has.ruined his family, therefore him and chacorta will give up on being drug.lords and instead work to bring down other drug.lords. thereby el senor de los cielos will become el senor de justicia!

Cielos 2

thanks Hombre,
every day I am amazed at how you weave this story together.

ah, didn't Aurelio glean from Victoria that they got Monica's license plate numbers, Victoria is such a dummy.

Monica is always such a stressed out psycho, I have trouble picturing her as a mother.

Ruti has led a pretty sheltered life with Ximena, but she is a quick learner, and Chema (the pro) is still at the dance.

So Chema has his pics of Garnica, Helga will feed Aurelio the recording she made, Victoria passes on her doubts about him to the President, is there anything working in his favor, (and we seem to have forgotten all about the snooping 'security' cameras at the Villa)

and boy Andrews, who doesn't know he works for Chema, the DEA?

En Otra Piel

Kelly, maybe you were getting some woo woo magic from the disturbance in the field because your recap is even funnier than usual.

I didn't think about a dog digging up the dije box, though that is a distinct possibility. I imagined it being swept away by the sea, far from the increasingly irritating Diego.

I actually liked the episode a lot. For me, it's not same old same old since I bailed out after the first week or so and only recently started watching again. I liked seeing Emi and Moni together. I liked seeing Elena's dawning realization that nearly everyone has her number. And I loved your parenthetical question, Kelly:

(Gerardo. Is this really better than life in prison?)

He'd look good in orange.

En Otra Piel

Kelly, you were in rare form with the recap! So funny. I also loved the question of whether life in prison would be better than life with Elena.

And, yes, why in the world do they always invite Susana to parties at the pensión? And we get some shots of her sour face whenever Jennifer and Gabriel seem happiest.

Also liked Does he even know he's getting married? I thought Lupe would come up with a more handsome guy, but oh well.

Camila is just SO irritating. I guess she's got that eldest child syndrome I've read about, involving feeling an exaggerated sense of responsibility.

I can't even stand to see Diego's face any more. THEY TOLD HIM ADRIANA WOULD DIE AND PERMANENTLY IF MONICA DIDN'T RETURN FOR HER UNFINISHED BUSINESS. But does this stop him from glaring at Mónica like a sulky child who is being denied his favorite toy? Nooooo.

En Otra Piel Jueves Parte Uno

Woo Hoo! Look who got a capitulo where something happened.

Mondriana says nice things to the box that contains the dije and Adriana's soul and then she and Diego bury it in the sand on a public beach. We've already noted what a bad idea this is. I can see Diego now, “Was it this palm tree or that one?”

Tender farewell of Gabriel and Jennifer from Marta and Emi. There's a knock at the door. Jennifer goes to open the door. It's Elena laden with packages. Let's just say that she is in super nasty mode. She tells Jennifer that she and Gabe have no future and in 20 years she sees her, “toda gorda y llena de celulitis” “really fat and covered with cellulitis” serving meals to people like Elena. [Sure, I can see Jenni volunteering to serve meals in a homeless shelter.] Elena says that Jennifer has, “la alma de la gata y gata es gata,” the soul of a cat and she always be a cat.

Jennifer replies that Elena has, “la alma del vibora and cara de perra y perra es perra,” “the soul of a snake and the face of a bitch and a bitch is a bitch!” That's great except that Elena really does have the soul of a venomous snake and when snakes are angry, they bite. When Susanna is summoned to take Elena's packages upstairs, she once again tells Elena that Jennifer's gang boyfriend is named Rottweiler. This time Elena makes the connection with Pachuco's buddy. She makes a call.

Poor Selma, who always seems to get the rotten jobs, has to try to explain to Cami that Mondriana is a good person without actually telling her the truth. This takes a long, long time. Finally, Jorge shows up and Cami leaves.

Now that the dije is safely buried (hah), Mondriana tells Diego that the plan is for Jorge to get custody of Emi while Mondriana will try and get evidence that Elena and Gerardo were responsible for the murder of Mónica Serrano. It's not clear how she will do this when she failed completely to get any proof when had access to the house and even pretended to be Mónica's ghost. Diego tells her that Eddie believes the shooting attempt on Cami was a setup. Diego leaves and instead of getting down to business, Mondriana sits on the beach and daydreams about Gerardo.

Rottweiler and Pachuco jump Gabe and Jennifer. Maite and Valeria happen to witness this. Maite goes for Anselmo and Valeria for Eddie.

Gerardo is with his lawyer who is doctoring up the paperwork to make it look like Carlos Ricalde was a legitimate investor in the winery. Everything is ok except that the late Ernesto made large deposits into an account in the Cayman Islands that Elena might question. Did Gerardo know about this? Gerardo isn't saying. The lawyer suggests that it would be illegal to hide these transactions and maybe Gerardo needs a different lawyer. Gerardo replies that he only trusts this guy. He understands that the lawyer is risking a lot but Gerardo says the risk is nothing in comparison to what he'll get.

En Otra Piel Jueves Parte Dos

Jennifer bites Rottweiler (woman bites dog?). Rottweiler throws her against the grafitti'd wall and she falls down unconscious. The Chalados and the cops show up. Rottweiler is captured and Pachuco escapes, naturally. Gabe brings Jennifer to the bookstore? [Why not have the police call an ambulance?] Eddie tells Maite and Valeria that Pachuco will be in prison for a long time. Anselmo, who kept Rottweiler from shooting Chalado, is back in Maite's good graces.

Tiny, little sparks continue between Jorge and Selma.

A doctor comes to examine Jennifer. Diego comes over to be with Gabe while he wallows in guilt.

Without the hideous bandanna, Rottweiler looks like a normal human being. Eddie tries to scare Rottweiler to tell him where Pachuco is.

Cami comes home and tells Emi that she is leaning toward trusting Mondriana. Elena overhears.

Mondriana barges in on Gerardo. She asks if the gift of the house to the girls is legit or is part of Elena's evil plans. Gerardo assures her that it is legit.

Rod calls Marta and fills her in on what happened with Gabe and Jennifer. Susanna comes in and asks what is going on. [Are the wheels turning in Susanna's tiny head?]

Elena has bought dresses to wear at the wedding for Cami and Emi. Emi flashes back to Mondriana telling her to be smarter than Elena and not create problems. She tells Elena that she likes the dress but with a healthy dose of sarcasm.

Gerardo and Mondriana exchange insults. When she accuses him of deciding to marry Elena when she, Mondriana rejected him, he accuses her of being with Diego. But they end up kissing.

En Otra Piel

thanks Jean,
such an enjoyable recap!

"Was it this palm tree or that one?" lol

(did I just see a dog running up the beach with a small box in his mouth)
ok, so did Diego bury the box under the shaman's earlier orders, in a place that was meaningful to Adriana, or something?

"Sure, I can see Jenni volunteering to serve meals in a homeless shelter." haha!

"(woman bites dog?)" lol

wow, Elena sure is generous buying dresses for the girls,
with THEIR money.

I'm not really jumping up and down with the Selma / Jorge (the dummy) sparks and what the heck is Monica doing kissing Geraldo (the guy that has done nothing about Emi being poisoned, who has a huge rainy day fund in an offshore bank account thanks to Larrea money)
not to mention it's Adriana's body.

but they do fight like an old married couple.

Thanks, deb. Since I usually only watch the episode that I have to recap ;-(, I might have missed the shaman ordering Diego to bury the dije on the beach. I know that the ocean had a special significance for Diego and Adriana due to the many flashbacks to when Diego gave Adriana her first view of the ocean.

Cielos Jueves

I'll do the best I can, Hombre was watching the Ravens win.

Andrews warns Lai about being a double agent.

Chema tells AC he could kill Ruti, I think he wants a better deal

Garnica wakes with a bad hangover. Helga drugged him & he blabs for a recorder. Garnica goes to baño & Helga stupidly calls AC. She lies & tells Garnica that she called rm service but they had nothing she likes. He is suspicious but she manages to get away.

Chema & Rutila are talking about college. He advises her to stop drinking so much. He asks her if Ernie was her 1st. He says it's a shame, he would have liked to be her 1st. She asks if he likes young girls, he doesn't answer.

Vicky has visions of wedding bells with (Danilo). AC asks if she is proposing. Of course he wants to marry her but he should do the proposing.

Monica has a breakdown because of AC & Vicky. Chacorta is surprisingly supportive.

Leo is at Vicky's discussing the death squad, Ig & Ana. AC makes his escape out the baño window. Nothing suspicious about that. Vicky lies & tells Leo he had an important meeting.

I guess Chema wanted the contacts in Venezuela, not sure about that.
Toro tells Chema he kept Ruti extra day because he wanted to bang her. He quickly gets a bang in the jaw.

There is a warrant for the death squad. Ig tells Ana to get out of town.

The SUV that Monica took to the mall is registered to Danilo's business.

AC finds Ruti, hands tied & hooded in the middle of the road. He tells her NEVER do anything like that again, she gives him some sass & he slaps her for lack of respect.

The movie crew shows up at Chacorta's uninvited.

Lai is going to sell out & she & Inaki are getting out of town. Inaki had Mirolindo get him a gun.

Vicky & Leonor are in V's office & Helga brings them the tape of Garnica. Is that what AC wanted?

Monica gives Victor a bag of cash so he can get the hell out.

Cielos 2

wow, thanks so much Variopinta!

I'm thinking Helga has 'do Aurelio' on her bucket list.

teenagers never appreciate what their parents go through for them, right Aurelio?

and pregnant psycho Monica is working hard to get the recognition she deserves.

and corruption surrounds Vicky who just spent the night with Aurelio, who had to jump out the bathroom window and disappear because he slept in, and Leo showed up.

Cielos

Thanks so much for the recap.

I was surprisingly amazed at how comforting Chacorta was. That showed a whole other side of him. I like all of the money Monica gave Victor. Maybe Ruti will take off with him. Poor Ignacio, his own wife puts out an arrest warrant for him. Did Helga hint that she is going to run the bordello after Lai leaves? She made it seem like AC was giving it to her as a gift. I'm anxious to see which way the story goes now, since Chema and AC did not have their showdown.

Cielos

Looks like everyone wants to get out of town but I bet Victor is the only one that makes it, maybe taking Rutila with him.

I don't see Lai making it to season 3 or Helga. Since AC & Chema came out of this alive, maybe they will carry on the battle to season 3.

OTRA PIEL

Thanks everyone for the nice words the other day. I usually tone down the sarcasm since it's not everyone's cuppa tea, but I was annoyed. Look like things are happening (slowly), and glad the happenings don't include Jennifer actually getting kidnapped, just a bit of concussion. I laughed at Jenny serving Elena in a homeless shelter. Ha! Still too good for Elena.

Was that spark of understanding from Susanna a Spark-"Elena is evil" or Spark-"I can blackmail Elena and get myself killed in the process"? And why not just spill to Cami what is really going on? I'm hoping, as someone said, that Mondriana plays a nice piano tune at the wedding and freaks everyone out. Cami and Emi should get a heads up though. Love Emi and her (fake) zen acceptance of Elena. She's my kind of people.

EL SENOR

If Helga keeps making stealth calls in front of the guy she wants to blackmail, she'll never make it out alive. Stupid European royalty. Inaki may be toast too, but I'm still pulling for Lai.

Chacorta's concern isn't too out of character. He was very sweet with Monica when she had her miscarriage, and he's been soft with Irma too for the most part. Certainly better than he ever was with Matilde. And he mentioned once about wanting to get out of the business and go straight, maybe be a film producer (if that counts as straight). It's in him to be civil, but he doesn't always bother (see the smack he gave to his SON). I hope he's sorry when Victor (please please) gets out of town with Ruti.

Kelly

En Otra Piel

Thanks, Jean. You DID get some movement.

What a relief. Jennifer is not going to die, nor lose the baby. I predict she'll be OK by Monday at the latest. But it was dumb they just took her home and had the doctor make a house call (like they ever really do!).

Of course, El Pachuco got away. I was thrilled to see Rottweiler in custody. He's not that smart, saying he'd barely get an hour in jail for what happened with Jennifer, seemingly forgetting that he stabbed an FBI agent. I think he'll rat out El Pachuco, but that guy is so slippery that he'll probably get installed somewhere else at Elena's expense.

They definitely surprised me with Mondriana responding to Gerardo. But then they've said over and over that Mónica Serrano fell hard for this guy and she hasn't been able to get over him completely.

I'm pretty sure Susana connected the dots. She JUST told Elena the name of the guy who had been involved with Jennifer. I think Rotty and Pachuco assaulted them right after this. And Susana overheard what happened right away. I actually think they'll go with her feeling guilty and bad rather than trying to blackmail Elena.

En Otra Piel

Thanks, Jean! Loved the recap.

Jennifer bites Rottweiler (woman bites dog?)

And you guys say nothing ever happens on this show!

I was also confused by police allowing an unconscious victim of a criminal assault to be scooped up and carried...well, anywhere except to a hospital in an ambulance. There's no way that would happen in the U.S. (except on a Telemundo lot).

En Otra Piel:
Thanks NovelaMaven and Novelera:

I still think there is pretty good chance that Jennifer will lose the baby. Miscarriage is one medical problem that does not have to happen in a hospital on a novela. If it were amnesia, paralysis or blindness, she would definitely be in the hospital. If she doesn't lose the baby, what? She and Gabe go to SF and that's it? We've got two weeks and two days to fill up. I hope I'm wrong 'cuz if not there's going to be a lot of crying but we'll see.

En Otra Piel

I hope you're wrong about the miscarriage as well, Jean. But you do tend to have a spidey sense about what may be about to happen in these novelas.

EN OTRA PIEL

Here’s a brief one of Friday’s episode.

Mondriana stops kissing Gerardo and lights into him. She praises Diego to the skies but she says they’re not an item. He tells her he’s marrying Elena to protect the girls.

Emi is delightfully sarcastic lately. She tells Elena she’ll wear the dress she bought her for the wedding if Elena will agree to get married in her best color: black!

El Pachuco calls Elena who’s not happy Jennifer didn’t get hurt. She tells EP to call a lawyer whose name she’ll give him and to make sure Rottweiler keeps his mouth shut.

Mondriana tells Gerardo he’s been an accomplice to all of Elena’s crimes. He gets the lawyer who’s been working on getting the house for Emi and Camila to tell what he’s done. Later she says this isn’t enough. She says she’s coming after Elena with everything she has. He gets close and asks her why she cares so much about these girls. He senses something about her. She looks into his eyes and tells him he’s blind and can’t see what’s in front of him (Mónica Serrano).

Jennifer and the baby are both fine. They call Marta with the good news. Susy listens in to Marta’s end of the conversation, looking a bit shifty.

A lawyer interrupts Eddie’s attempt to turn Rottweiler. Rott is told by this lawyer that if he talks, he dies.

At La Malquerida Anselmo tells Maite he’s talked with Chalado about leaving the gang. She rather curtly tells him to do it not for her but for himself.

At the mansion Camila tells Elena that Emiliana is with Marta, and that she’s planning to have Emi sleep downstairs with ‘Tita. Elena: “She’s going to sleep with the servants?” Cami, shocked, says that Tita isn’t a servant; she’s like their second mother. Of course Viewerville knows Elena doesn’t want her away from the poison in the products in her bathroom. Elena doesn’t like the idea of Camila reading Mónica’s diaries.

Rodrigo is making great headway in winning back Marta and leans in for the kiss when… the offspring all return and he’s back to square one!

Emi’s doctor wants her to have a spinal puncture in order to test her spinal fluid. Emi is scared and refuses. But Mónica comes to reassure her and to hold her hand during the procedure.

Lorena marches in to the waiting room, spies Mondriana, gets huffy, and threatens her with the police. Mondriana goes right after her. She tells her Emi wouldn’t be here if she’d taken care of her. She tells her she went back to drinking and let Elena take everything from the girls. She tells her that her sister Mónica would be so ashamed if she could see her now. Lorena is completely cowed.

Elena is up to something else now. She tells Cami that it’s OK if Mondriana comes to see Emi from time to time.

Gerardo brings a document to Elena to sign that gives the house to Camila and Emiliana. She’s outraged, but manages to stuff it down long enough to promise she’ll sign it after the wedding. Right. [Why does he even need her signature? Isn’t everything in his name and the only thing Elena really has is some secret side document that giver her half?]

Two days pass and the big day arrives. We see some guests milling around. We see Elena descending some stone stairs I don’t remember seeing before while Emi mutters “Let her fall down! Let her fall down!" Gerardo does NOT look happy. Suddenly he looks away from the bride. On the day Elena’s waited for for so long, Gerardo is looking at a vision in a blue dress, Mondriana on Jorge’s arm.

En Otra Piel- Thanks, Novelera for the excellent recap.

I'm glad I was wrong about Jennifer losing her baby. Maybe the tendency of this novela for nothing to happen will prevail.

Maybe Mondriana will play the piano at the reception.

Once the ceremony is over, what excuse is Elena going to use for not moving out of the house?

CIELOS - Viernes

Thanks Variopinta for your excellent recap of Thursday's show!

So Rutila is back in the fold. Ximena tells Alba she wants to leave with Santiago, Ruti and Luzma. Alba says I understand Luzma, but Ruti is of age now. Also, AC will never agree. Xime replies, can't you just put your foot down and tell AC what to do, for once? Alba says okay. Xime tells AC she wants to take both girls, Alba supports her. AC at first says no way, Xime says Alba knows Bert is dead and the letters are fake, she didn't want to upset you, can't you ever treat her honestly? Alba then pipes up, yes, I knew, these girls need a new life. AC says he'll think about it, after all, he's a reasonable man (yeah, right), and tell them his decision tomorrow.

Privately, he tells Chacorta he's going to kill Santiago. Chacorta says if you do, the girls will NEVER forgive you. So AC comes up with the idea of killing Santiago, but making it look as if Chema did it!

Meanwhile, Ruti tells her Mom she may not go along, wants to make her own decision. Chema had given her his phone number, and she takes it out and looks at it.

Vicky, fresh from revealing all sorts of details to AC, has Leo at her house, telling her that Ig is the death squad. They both agree that as painful as it is, Ig has to pay. But Ig and Ana have disappeared. We see them compare notes about the license plate. Yes, it was registered to Danilo Ferro, and no, it was not reported stolen! What could be the link between Danilo Ferro and Monica Robles? They go to Danilo's house unannounced.

But AC has alerted Lilo, who tells Ig he'll look into it. And once again, Danilo is "unavailable". Later, AC and Lilo agree that some employee, maybe Juanito or something, will admit that he took the SUV on his own, and he'll somehow take the rap, thus showing it had nothing to do with Danilo Ferro.

Helga calls Vicky and Leo, says she has a tape for them, of Garnica. She brings it to the office, and sure enough, this evidence will do in Garnica. But Leo thinks it's strange that some random woman taped it, she must have been under orders from a bigwig. She follows Helga back to Villa Catalina, and confronts her there, saying who made you make that tape? Helga plays it cool, says I'm here because I'm buying the place (this is true, although I think she's buying it for AC - Lai and Inaki agreed they have to sell it and leave ASAP. They're asking $5 million.) Inaki also wants to sell some of the ranches they bought, but Lai thinks if they wait around any longer, they'll be dead.

CIELOS - Part 2

Vicky can't reach Danilo, so she calls "Fernanda", who is still really upset that AC and Vicky are getting it on. Monica also knows she screwed up taking that car into town, and she warns AC that Vicky is just a fantasy, while she, Monica, is real.

Leo overhears Vicky's phone call and says, yesterday, Danilo really just disappeared on you, didn't he? Vicky has to admit to herself that Danilo has been acting very strangely. But of course she hasn't put anything together yet.

Victor tells Rutila he IS going to leave with the money Monica gave him, and wants Ruti to come, too, but she can't yet. Maybe later.

Inaki gets Mirolindo to get him a gun. He then goes to Garnica's hotel, tricks the desk clerk into revealing the room, and confront Garnica, who's wearing a towel. Garnica DARES him to pull the trigger, and Inaki can't! Meanwhile, Miroindo realizes what's happening, tells Lai and Helga, and they go to the hotel and charm the desk clerk, even though she's a woman, Helga thinks Lai's cleavage will help them get the info. They burst into the room to find Inaki pointing the gun at Garnica. Loud words are exchanged, when Inaki snaps, and although he couldn't SHOOT Garnica, he hits him with the gun, over and over again. I think the General could be DEAD.

With only a little more than a week left, I just can't wait for Vicky to finally find out she's been sleeping with the enemy. AC's plan with her has been so diabolical, it's driving me crazy. When she does find out, it should be one of the most powerful reveals EVER!

Cielos

Thanks Hombre! I would be missing so much without these recaps. I totally did not get the whole business with AC saying he is going to kill Santiago, but make it look like Chema's work.
I think Garnica may be a goner...Inaki hit him pretty hard.
I, too, can't wait for Vicky's reaction to Danilo being AC. I thought maybe someone would show her a picture of Monica and she would catch on, but that didn't happen.

En Otra Piel

thanks so much novelera,
so nice of you to jump in with these recaps.

Mondriana looked absolutely stunning!

I'm not sure what's up with the wedding, in this story I guess spouses can't testify against each other, so maybe Elena is figuring that Geraldo won't be able to turn on her, (doesn't she keep saying that there is no proof against them as long as neither of them talks), but these things like ownership of the house that she keeps delaying until AFTER the wedding, I'm starting to wonder if she has NOT forgiven Geraldo and after the wedding she plans to do away with him and become the owner of all. She certainly is not going to leave the house and be away from the people she loves to torment every day.

Thanks for the recap. I can't believe we are not going to get more danger for Gennifer, Maite and Valerie before the end. I guess we still have two weeks to go, so there is time. This TN either moves super quick or glacially!

Did Diego say something about going to a wedding at the breakfast table? I wonder what he will be doing? It must be something in Mondriana's plan. I sure hope it is worth the wait. We still need some scenes of Elena becoming truly unhinged. Vanessa Villela is really good at those chewing the scenery type scenes, so that should be fun. I hope the is a very good one between Lorena and Elena where Lorena truly understands what a monster her daughter is.

What do you all think will happen to Geraldo? He's the one that I'm in certain about. He's been pretty spineless in dealing with Elena. I don't think the writers can save him, though. Perhaps, he will get sacrificed in savings the girls? It seems like they are setting up a redemption for him, but I sure don't what him to be around.

Cielos 2

thanks so much Hombre,
there are times when these guys actually make sense,
but then there are those times when I don't have a clue,
your recaps really put the whole story together for me.

so everyone is ready to pull the rug out from under Garnica, Chema, Aurelio, even Victoria, and his days lounging around naked are about over, so Inaki jumps right in there and maybe kills him, what an absolute blunder, no wonder he is Lai's EX.

En Otra Piel

Sorry my comment above is for En Otra Piel

En Otra Piel:
Miguel: I don't think it would be considered a spoiler to say what happened at the end El Cuerpo del Deseo, which EOP is based on. EOP has deviated A LOT from the original story.

The two people who are the equivalent of Mondriana and Gerardo (sexes were reversed) are being chased by the police and they purposely crash their car. The Gerardo character is killed outright and the soul of the Mondriana character leaves the body she was in and since they truly loved each other and the Gerardo character didn't kill the Mondriana character - he/she died of natural causes - they are reunited in the hereafter.

The soul of the Adriana character is restored to her body and goes home. There was no dije or anything like that. Also the equivalent of the Elena character was killed by the Gerardo character way before the end.

I have thought that something similar might happen where Gerardo dies and his and Mónica's souls go off together but who knows. I still love the idea of Mónica's soul going into Lorena's useless body but I don't think that is likely.

Thanks so much for the snappy recap, Novelera!

Deb, I also thought Mondriana looked spectacular.

Miguel en SD, yeah, Diego said he was going to a wedding. Someone (Maite or Val) said, surprised: En esa fachas? (Dressed like THAT?) and he answered: Yes, I'm going to crash the party. (ir de colado or something like that.)

En Otra Piel

Deb,
Thanks for clarifying. I had the Spanish captions on and didn’t understand everything in the breakfast scene with Diego, et al.

Jean,
Thanks for sharing the ending of the original. It will be interesting to see how this one differs. I can’t see them getting rid of Elena until the very end, but I could be surprised. It seems like Telemundo likes the major villain around until about 15 minutes before “el fin”. And then they give the characters their final endings, some happy and some not so happy. I’m hoping that there is some really outlandish villainy coming up that we have us shaking our heads in disbelief.
In concept, I like the idea of Monica still being around in Lorena’s body with the caveat that Geraldo is gone (that would be strange even for this TN). I’m not sure if it will happen, but it could be a nice bow to tie around this package. We’ll have to see…

(Also, I apologize for typos in my messages, sometimes I'm using my phone and the interface isn't great.)

En Otra Oiel

ah Miguel en SD, I think you meant to thank NovelaMaven, for the wonderful clarification of the breakfast scene and Diego's dash to the wedding.

En Otra Piel

Deb,
You are so right.

NovelaMaven,

Mil disclupas. Thanks to you for clarifying the breakfast scene for me. Much appreciated, because I thought the same thing, "Going to a wedding dressed like that?" But as I said I didn't understand the Spanish words. :)

Miguel,

No hay de que! I just happened to remember that because "fachas" is one of my favorite Spanish words. In my head, I always translate into the Yiddish word "shmatas" (rags) -- You're going to a wedding in those shmatas?

CIELOS:

Due to Monday Night Football, I won't be able to do the recap for the Monday show until Tuesday around 7 PM. So if someone else wants to write a recap earlier, that would be welcome.

Jean said:
We've got two weeks and two days to fill up.

Let's be glad it's no longer than that. Otherwise the story probably would have gone in the direction of Jennifer giving birth and Elena stealing the baby and passing it off as her own.
