TELEMUNDO Y MÁS: THE FRONT PAGE -- En Otra Piel ends tonight! Gran Estreno de Los Miserables and Señora Acero starts its first full week -- Week of Sept. 29, 2014

Finally (and it can't be too soon for some of us) En Otra Piel ends tonight (Monday). Tomorrow (Tuesday) at 9pm, Los Miserables, based on the 1862 Victor Hugo novel which, according to IMdb, has already been made into at least 14 movies, the earliest dating back to 1909,  4 TV miniseries, a musical and a movie of a musical gets a new life as a telenovela. At 10pm Señora Acero starts its first full week.

This is the place for comments and recaps of these novelas.

Los Miserables
I can't remember the little girl's name but the little actress from La Impostora is in Los Miserables. I'll be happy to see her again.

Can you upload several photographs from tonight's episode?

Go 49ers Go: sorry, couldn't resist.

I will be shortly posting the last recap of En Otra Piel. I plan to watch the first episode of Los Miserables, but doubt I'll watch more than that, nor do I plan on doing recaps.

I'll be seeing you all in the comments section of Reina de Corazones, though!

EN OTRA PIEL – EL GRAN FINAL – Parte 1

At the hospital Diego tells Selma he doesn’t understand why Mónica fainted right after she embraced her daughter. But Adriana didn’t immediately return to her body. Selma suggests that he get the dije and bring it to the hospital, but Diego tells her the shaman said that it needed to be dug up with Mondriana there. Selma insists that without the dije the body could die and neither Mónica nor Adriana would be able to return.

We see Elena coming out of the preliminary hearing. Lorena is waiting for her. Elena tells her she doesn’t want any sermons; just tell her whether or not Jorge is her biological father. Wow! They surprised me. He is the father! Lorena asks Elena’s lawyer what is going to happen. The lawyer responds that the judge denied bail [Whew!] and Elena will have to come to court from a jail cell.

At the pensión Anselmo brings Maite a gift, a pair of very pretty earrings. He tells her the really good news. Rodrigo has given him a job running the bookstore because he won’t be able to spend much time there. [Hmmm. I have difficulty seeing Anselmo interacting with customers who ask about the best literary novel that’s recently been published.] Anyway, Anselmo says he’s becoming a good man for Maite’s sake. Kisses ensue.

Selma is crying over the comatose Mondriana, lamenting that she didn’t get a chance to say goodbye to her friend. Emiliana and Cami come in right behind Selma. Emi calls Mondriana mamí and begs her to wake up. Camila looks on skeptically. She still isn’t buying the reincarnation issue. Emi tells Mondriana, crying, that Cami won’t be that hard to convince. She only needs to think of all the sweet things Mondriana knew about her daughters.

We see Diego at the beach [must have memorized that it’s the 4th palm from the right] and digs up the dije without any difficulty.

Back in the hospital waiting room Selma, eyes brimming with tears, tells Jorge that Mónica is gone. She says she thought she’d have a chance to say goodbye. But on the other hand she knows that Mónica can now rest in peace knowing that her daughters are safe.

Jorge tells Selma that Elena is his daughter. It hurts him that he wasn’t with her all these years. Lorena shouldn’t have hidden the truth from him. He says he detests Elena for what she’s done to his family, but he knows a father should not abandon his child.

Emi tells Mondriana, still in a coma, that she now knows why Mónica seemed so familiar to her. She remembers Pacho barking happily at the gate, recognizing Mondriana the first time she came to the mansion. Diego comes into the room and asks if he could speak along with …her. Emiliana: “Of course. Maybe it’s Adriana. It’s right that you should spend time with her.”

EN OTRA PIEL – EL GRAN FINAL – Parte 2

Diego puts the dije on Mondriana saying that this is what she needs to return. He reminds her she promised him. He says her promise was the only reason he agreed for her to let Mónica come back to rescue her children. He then tells Selma there’s been no change. Maybe it was a mistake to dig up the dije. What if this time Adriana doesn’t come back?

I’m delighted to see Elena escorted into a cell in an orange prison uniform. Her lawyer again tells her that, if she doesn’t plead insanity, she’ll spend the rest of her life in jail. She replies that she hasn’t exhausted all her resources. She asks for a pen and some pieces of paper. She tells the lawyer she’ll be out before he even can realize it.

At the pensión Eddie gives Valeria a blank invitation to go wherever she’d like to go with him. Kisses ensue.

Elena is writing in her cell but the off-key piano is again heard in her head, freaking her out.

Well, I don’t know where Valeria wanted to go, but Eddie has brought her to a room with a bed covered in rose petals. He says he wants her first time to be wonderful. In a shamed voice Valeria says that it won’t be her first time. But Eddie tells her it will be the first time with someone who loves her.

The Moonlight Sonata plays. Diego holds Adriana’s hand. We see Eddie and Valeria making love. We see Emiliana walking, just with a cane. Elena keeps hearing a piano in her head.

Dawn breaks. Diego has spent the night by Mondriana’s bed. He feels her hand squeeze his every so slightly. Diego: “¿Eres tú, Adriana?” Adriana, weakly: “Where am I?” Diego: “We’re in the hospital. Mónica was able to help her daughters. It’s all over. Tell me it’s you!” Adriana: “My beautiful Diego. I missed you so much!” Diego: “You came back, my love!”. Adriana: “I came back like I promised.” Diego tells her that he was so afraid she wouldn’t come back. She tells him he’s her life, her everything.

Emiliana and Camila have come to the hospital. They enter the room. Emi: “¿Eres tú, mama?” Adriana: “No, Emilianita, soy Adriana. Emi rushes out crying.

Two months have passed.

Lorena speaks to Elena in her cell. Only in telenovelas do visitors go right up to the bars of the cell! Rather coldly she tells her daughter that the lawyer is going to appeal her sentence. [What? That was one speedy trial, and we didn’t get to see it?] Lorena says she knew de antemano (had foreknowledge) that the judge would rule against Elena. She asks why she didn’t plead insanity.

EN OTRA PIEL – EL GRAN FINAL – Parte 3

Elena demands to know where Jorge Larrea is. Why doesn’t he come to see her? She says they probably didn’t even give him the letters. Jorge appears behind Lorena. He says he got all the letters, but he wasn’t sure how to confront this thing. Elena: “Papito! You came to see me! You’ll help me get out of here, won’t you? You have lots of money and influence and can insist they get me out of here.” Jorge tells her that neither he nor Lorena are responsible for what she did. He says she chose to be what she is. She made decisions because of ambition and resentment. She whines that, if he’d been with her, he would have given her what she deserved. Jorge, sternly, tells her to cut it out. She had everything and nothing worked to change her. He says that he doesn’t plan to bear the burden of her crimes. He says he’s her biological father, but nothing else.

Elena: “But, you’re my parents!” Lorena tells her she committed many crimes. It’s unjust to expect she and Jorge to stand up for her. Lorena says she already harmed a lot of people to protect Elena. Elena reverts to type, screeching insults at her mother. Lorena tells her she’ll never let her speak that way to her again. She’s going far away soon to try to find peace. As Lorena and Jorge leave Elena starts shrieking after them, and the discordant piano starts up again.

There’s a party at the mansion. Susana is back there working, all smiles. The doorbell rings and the guests file in. Anselmo, Maite, Ricardo, Gabriel, Valeria, Eddie, Marta, and Rodrigo. Marta is apparently now living with Rodrigo, and Susi es la ama de llaves (head housekeeper). Marta tells Susi that Rodrigo is writing his telenovela day and night and is very, very happy.

Adriana and Emiliana are in the office at the mansion. Emi cries a bit and says she doesn’t want to ruin the big party for Adriana and Diego, but she’s going to miss them. Our barrio girl is back in spades. She tells Emi that she and Diego are returning to Mexico. Adriana asks Emi if she misses Mónica. Emi: Si, mucho. She regrets that she didn’t get to say goodbye. Adriana touches the dije and asks Emi if she’d like to say goodbye to her mother.

Back in the Living Room, Camila still doesn’t get it. She says that now Mondriana has come out of the coma she behaves oddly and doesn’t want to be called Mónica.

Eileen tells everyone that Rodrigo is like a virus on the internet now that everyone knows he was the one who wrote the screenplay for the famous movie. They’ve gone outside for the party, and Eileen points to her date, a guapisimo galán from the novela she’s just finished recording.

Back inside Adriana says she doesn’t know if it will work, but she’ll try. She takes Emi’s hands and tells her to close her eyes. She takes off the dije and puts it on the arm of the sofa. Cami has come in, but neither Adriana nor Emi see her. Adriana faints, and Emi asks her to please wake up.

Diego arrives to the party. He says he was at the Mexican consulate, and they gave him a letter exonerating him of all charges. Smiling from ear to ear he says that he and Adriana plan to open a bar by the sea.

Eileen asks if time spent in Australia has made Jorge slow. Is this the reason he hasn’t asked Selma to live with him?

EN OTRA PIEL – EL GRAN FINAL – Parte 4

Back in the office Mónica comes to and calls Emiliana pulgarcita, my little spoiled girl, my doll. Mónica says that Emi knows how to see with the eyes of her heart. Emi says that she always knew Mondriana was her mother. She says that she loves her. Cami is in the background taking all this in with a stunned expression. She finally approaches and says: “¿Mamá?. Mónica calls her my precious one. Camila finally believes. She sobs and begs her mother’s forgiveness for having treated her badly. [ There are lots of words of love, and I definitely have tears running down my cheeks.]

Mónica says she doesn’t have much time. She wants them to look in the safe in the secret room. When Cami says it’s been sealed off, Mónica tells her that Tío Jorge knows how to get in. Mónica says that they’ll find the answers to all their doubts in the safe. She then tells them it’s time for her to go. She can now go in peace. But she says she’ll live in their hearts and, in some way, will always be with them. She faints again, and the girls cry.

Back outside at the party, Gabriel says that, now that his father is famous, they had no problem getting the graphic novel published. They took the best offer, and he and Jennifer will have a new house to which to bring the baby home. Gabriel explains that Jennifer couldn’t come to the party. She’s in the middle of exams.

Jorge blurts out, rapidly, that he loves Selma and wants to spend the rest of his life with her. He asks if she’d accept him. And she does. Kisses ensue.

Adriana is back. She is outside at the party and says she wants to propose a toast to a wonderful woman with a huge heart: Mónica Serrano!

At the jail Elena hears the piano again, crawls under her bunk, and then sees Mónica in that green, veiled outfit Mondriana used to scare her months ago. The green phantom says her name: “Elena! Elena!”

We see Emiliana and Camila horsing around in the Living Room of the mansion. On the stairs we see a fuzzy outline of the ghost of Mónica Serrano, who is getting the last word.

She says: “Here are my hopes, my happiness, and my pain. I’m taking my memories, my peace, and the good fortune to have known that my daughters have found happiness again and that they have it in their hearts to forgive. [We see Emi and Cami embracing Lorena, who’s just returned from her time away.] Mónica says that her life wasn’t a dream, nor was it perfect. But she had the opportunity to live it completely. She learned that the heart never is transparent, and she confronted hatred face to face. At last she learned that love is stronger than anything. We see Gerardo’s smiling face in a sort of vision.

Now we’re transported to a lovely beach in México. Diego and Adriana are smooching beside a grass shack that I HOPE isn’t their bar. But they are very, very happy.

En Otra Piel,

Novelera,
Thanks for your wonderful recap and all of your wonderful recaps!

I personally loved the finale. I loved the slow pace so that I got to savor the finishes of all the stories. I was really pleased that there was no return of Elena to menace the protagonists in the final. It was so nice that everything wasn't rushed.

Very happy with the end of Elena! If they had only thrown in a brunt doll sighting it would have been perfect! I guess I'll talk the green dressed ghost.

Thanks to all for your input. I'll see you over with the Reinamaniacs until the next one.

Cheers.

Señora Acero... Monday epi5

as the procession to Guadalajar stops (and I'm thankful I'm not one of those guys making the trip on their knees), Sara spots Capi (brother to the guy she accidently killed) following them, she gets away quick with Salvador, but they are caught, and he is going to even the score by killing Salvador, but at the last minute he is shot dead by Tiburon, Capi was ordered by Indio to let Sara be, punto.

a beat up Felipe, home in bed, has his secretary, Mariana, crawl onto the bed with him and he starts sliming on her, as they talk about her replacing him as Presidente Municipal de Tijuana, he wants a kiss and she asks if he's looked in the mirror lately, so he pulls her hand under the covers for a little... , but his wife Josafina comes into the room, and Mariana leaves.

to be met on her way out by Berta who wants to know what's up with Felipe's beating, but Mariana is a confidential secretary so-to-speak, (the guy Ernesto, is that Berta's husband?)

Junio (who the doctor has given 2 months to live) meets with Indio at the hospital, and convinces him there was no betrayal, they strike a deal but Junio won't shake hands with the killer of his brother, Indio understands.

on leaving Junio sees Indio talking to a doctor (is he paying him off) and recognizes him from when Sara was brought in after loosing her baby, alone he threatens the doctor with a scalpel to the throat, who confesses to making Sara sterile while he was working on her, Junio slashes his throat.

Junio makes it home ?? and runs into Mariana, she wants a divorce (as Felipe asked her to do), Junio is confused.

Junio goes to the apartment where Sara burnt the money, and meets with a guy that owes him a favor, who brings him a gun and a car.

a beatup Felipe meets wth a limping Fulgencio (Vicente's chief of security who set up the raid at the wedding but got away when they went after him), Felipe wants him to find Sara, who he blames for his troubles with Indio.

Fulgencio goes looking at the apartment where Junio is, who gets the drop on him, and they have a little chat, before Junio, who wasn't a murderer, shoots him dead.

Junio then drops by to see Felipe, chats with Carlota (Sara's mother) outside and updates her on things including that Sara is now sterile, he gives her Fulgencio's id to give to Felipe, saying it was slid under the door, when she does he calls, but Junio has the phone and they chat, he claims to be all powerful Presidente Municipal but Junio tells him not to walk past any windows, he goes to see and Junio is standing outside and pretends to shoot him.

later we see Junio tailing Mariana.

Sara arrives in Guadalajara, calls Junio who has found a place for her to rent, Salvador's not impressed, no tv, no video games, and no food. as Sara cries on the stairs, she meets her neighbor, Aracely Paniagua (Litzy)

elsewhere, some bad luck thugs try to hijack a truck, but it's a setup and our new policeman, Eliodoro Flores Tarso (Andrés Palacios) jumps out the back of the truck, making the arrests.

En Otra Piel

and the piano plays on...

Emi was always such a sweetheart, María Elisa Camargo was so amazing being an older lady in a young body, and the final goodbyes were so touching.

thank you so much novelera for this and all of your wonderful recaps!

En Otra Piel-
Thanks so much, Novelera, for this and all the other recaps of this novela. It's not going on my list of favorites but I'll admit that I was crying too when Mónica gave her farewell to Emi and Cami. Much more than in the original version of this, you realized the terrible injustice of Mónica Serrano losing her future with her daughters because of Elena's obsessions and wackiness.

When Elena was trying to get under the bunk beds in prison to escape the piano music, she almost couldn't do it due to her giant butt!

I hope that shack on the beach wasn't Diego and Adriana's bar, too!

What happened to Monica's 2nd husband, who conspired to kill with Elena to kill her ?

En Otra Piel

Steve, Elena shot and killed Gerardo.

En Otra Piel

Novelera, many thanks for this final recap (and, of course, all the others you've done). I was somewhat less enthusiastic than you, both about the novela and about the final episode. I was happy (and not surprised) that Emi and Cami got to say goodbye to Mónica, but I didn't shed a tear. There were several things I did like about the episode: the interaction between Jorge and Selma, including his blurted-out proposal (thanks to Eileen's delightful prompting); Diego's finding the dije right away, rather than wasting half the episode with his searching for it; and Elena's final punishment, in prison and tormented by hearing piano music and even hallucinating the appearance of the green ghost.

Other than that, it seemed to me like just another stereotypical novela ending. The only surprise was Anselmo's now being manager of Rodrigo's bookstore. Huh?? I definitely agree with your comment about that.

See you at the Reinamanicomio! :-)

En Otra Piel

Thank you, Novelera, for your thorough recap of the finale and for all of your previous recaps.

I loved the irony of Elena losing the love and support of both of her parents to Emi and Cami, the 2 people who were denied the same as a result of her greed. She refused to be labeled insane yet she only became more insane. Thus there was no need for the typical scenes of her being tortured by other prisoners.

Everyone except Jennifer was together and happy with lots of good news. Yes it was a steoreotypical novela ending but I enjoyed it and was a littly teary-eyed when Monica said goodbye to her daughters. I also wanted to see her say her final goodbyes to some of the other characters too (Lorena, Marta, Rodrigo and sons, Maite and Valeria).

I was surprised that Diego and Andriana chose to return to Mexico since they didn't have family or friends there but Andriana didn't really have an emotional attachment to LA, and Diego was willing to follow her wherever. Plus as long as she's around the girls they may want to bring Monica back.

Adios a todos,

Señora Acero

Deb thank you for the recap. I truly like Junio and believe it or not am glad he's turned killer. Next up his wife? Too bad it appears his time is limited. This TN really has me going and has my full attention. MV is doing a fantastic job directing.

En Otra Piel

Thanks for all the kind words, guys!

I actually liked that Diego and Adriana returned to Mexico. There's a sort of insidious sense that people who come here find everything better than where they came from. I found it refreshing that Adriana said she found many good things about el gabacho but she wanted to return to her beautiful Mexico.

En Otra Piel

I totally agree with your words above and for that reason I like that they returned to Mexico...everything full circle. Plus it gives them the opportunity to return to who they truly are and not the Mondriana and obsessive/faithful Diego that the others knew. With a rare experience to guide them and without the ability to rely on family friends they have no choice but to create their own path.

En Otra Piel

Oops, the message above was intended for Novelera.

Was Cami able to start dating what's his face again ?

En Otra Piel

@Alicia: Yes, Camila was reunited with Ricardo who she was in love with all along. They had plenty of breakups, mostly caused by Elena and Cami's dumb insisting that her cousin was a good person. Also, she was given a date rape drug by Ernesto, although he didn't really rape her - just took suggestive pictures. So that broke them up again for a while.

En otra pile - What a lovely recap novelera, and I too loved this version even more than the previous version. Regarding Anselmo running the bookstore - we do know he's actually pretty well read and even memorized some poetry from a couple of books. Both Diego and Rodrigo commented in the past how Anselmo was different and had potential, but simply settled for being in a gang because he didn't think he had another choice. Granted, he will probably have to take some public speaking classes since he sometimes has trouble expressing himself, but the potential is there. Alicia - did you mean Ricardo? He and Cami got back together a while ago and I got the impression they're either engaged or assume they will be soon.

Señora acero - I really wish they had all agreed on what part of the song they were going to sing, and that they sang more than the opening line and the chorus, just saying... I too am happy not to be walking all the way uphill on my knees! I don't know if Aracely's was saying her last name or her nickname "pan y agua". I could see it going either way. I am definitely enjoying it so far.

Deb, it looks like we have a littlle more company for
Senora. Thank you for the great, informative recap.

EN OTRA PIEL

Thanks Novelera for the well done final recap. I liked having one more show to wrap things up. It would have been too rushed to try to do this on Friday. As it was, Adriana recovered much, much faster than she had before from the body snatcher. I had hoped for a new body for Monica, but I guess that was pushing it, even for this show. (Lorena still deserved some worse punishment for enabling her murderous daughter, but fine). Everyone is happy, Cami got to say goodbye to her mother, and Eileen gets a hot boyfriend. All is well in LA.

Don't think I'll stick around for Les Miz since I have La Reina and want to catch up with the Silvia Navarro one (thanks illegal internet), plus Christian de la Fuente has one that just started that isn't too bad. But three is pushing the limit. I'll catch you at La Reina, and for whatever comes up next!

Señora Acero... Tuesday epi 6

Guadalajara...

the truck hijack doesn't go so well, one bad guy is shot but the others get away, they take him to the local hospital.

Aracely takes Sara and hungry Salvador down to where she works, a little beauty shop (with a back door beauty enhancement clinic),

where we meet a new character Enriqueta Sabido (Rebecca Jones) and what the heck is going on here (too many new words for me, but it sure is creepy), is she doing a butt enhancement on an unconscious girl injecting her with vegetable oil, and what could go wrong here?

Sara asks for a job (out in the beauty shop part) but it's not a good day for Enriqueta who gives her a hard time, so Sara leaves, but Salvador faints, they drop to the sidewalk, Sara screams for help, and our new cop Eliodoro who seems to be watching the place, comes to help but Sara wants nothing to do with him, Aracely flags down a guy in a pickup truck and they go to the local community hospital, it takes a bit of screaming persuasion but Sara gets Salvador looked at, as they wait. (I think Sara fears that he might have been poisoned)

meanwhile at the beauty shop of horrors, nothing is looking good, and they bring in a 'specialist', some other quack who wants to take the girl to the hospital, but no, she stays here.

meanwhile, good cop Eliodoro wanders in to check the place out, it's unisex shop so he will get his hair cut (by the unconscious girls sister), the girls are all checking him out.

back at the hospital one of the hijack thugs shows up to give the shot guy a little encouragement, talk and you are dead (shows gun), and afterwards phones this guy at the beauty shop who is watching over the botched butt job, so these guys are all tied together.

the second good cop drops by to question the shot guy but the doctor wants some kind of authorization so he calls Eliodoro, who stops short of getting his hair cut to head on over to the hospital to take care of that.

and without much for the quack to work with, the beauty shop girl dies.

and the doctor at the hospital comes to talk to Sara, Salvador is in a coma.

Tijuana...

Junio follows Mariana to a meet she is having with Indio, he tries to listen but has one of his attacks, and manages to collapse out of sight.

Indio talks to Mariana about Junio, she says he's a coward, she should know, she's married to him, but Indio tells her about the doctor that was killed.

Later Junio comes to see Mariana at her office and behind close doors he wants to know what she was doing with Indio, she sloughs him off till he grabs her, and with that intense look in his eyes makes her wonder if he did kill that doctor, she finally confesses that it was her that let Muneco in at the wedding, she didn't think anyone would be killed, they would just grab Sara and hold her till Vicente came up with the 3 million, Junio sees now how she has totally betrayed him and his family, and leaves.

btw I'm not really getting everyone's names so I'm using a cast list here,
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3904068/fullcredits?ref_=tt_cl_sm#cast

also it's rumored that José Luis Reséndez will be in this playing a narco.

oh and thanks all for your comments, I'm really not that good at this.

El Chivo
Are you still watching Variopinta? It looks like his close associates I mean Trujillo may be getting the idea he means to be a despot. I wonder how long this novela will go on. Trujillo was in power one way or another for about 30 years. I wonder when his wife will wise up.
Bmc

Los Miserables

I watched the first episode. It was okay I guess. But I'm not really up for a novela in which a woman constantly suffers.

Gonzalo Garcia Vivanco had a VERY short role as he was shot down in the first 10 minutes. He was the criminal with a heart of gold in La Patrona. In this one he was her boyfriend and father of the baby she's carrying. He gasps out that he agreed to drive a car full of cocaine because he owed money to a drug lord.

So Lucía, nicknamed Lucha, loses her baby and goes to prison for 11 years for being in the car in TX with the boyfriend. Seems excessive to me!

So she comes out and it turns out she is not the daughter of the same woman as the other daughters. She's the daughter of her father's lover that he's taken in. Of course, she's her father's favorite.

It's very confusing to me if she's in the US or Mexico. I think Mexico. Anyway she tries to see her family and evil sister, Aylín Mujica, tells her her father doesn't want to see her and sends her away.

While she's in prison she's become good friends with a woman who's dying. This must be the Fantine character from the Victor Hugo novel. This woman says her daughter is not safe with some step-sister (I think) and asks her to take the child to replace the one that died.

So Lucha goes to the address the dying woman gave her, and knocks and knocks. We see some pretty ghastly looking people in bed. They look like drug addicts. I suppose these are meant to be the Thenardiers from the novel. We also see Cosette for a minute. A young boy who is her friend gives her something to eat. She hasn't eaten for a whole day.

Oh, Gabriel Porras is back as a baddie with a gold tooth. Stereotypical horny drug lord.

Lucha has a nursing certificate earned in prison, but she can't find work because of her criminal history. But the last place she applied had an emergency after a shootout, and she pitches in to help.

It doesn't look too bad, but I'm not ready for the months of suffering and victimization.

Los Miserables

thanks so much novelera!

it was strange to see Gonzalo Garcia Vivanco and Aracely Arámbula back together again after "La Patrona", but as you say, that didn't last long.

I think when Lucia got out of jail in Texas they put cuffs on her, to the surprise of the inmates watching, because she is being deported someone says, so she is back in Mexico.

I loved watching Gabriel Porras, he is just so cool!
and Macarena Oz, as the young girl, was really incredible in "La Impostora".
and I see our Don 'Cleto' from Cielos.
and Erik Hayser (who played twin brothers in "Camelia la Texana") is the cop.

Los miserables

Thanks Novelera. I didn't expect a recap since no one appeared to be interested in this one (not even me).

I missed the part where Lucha's mom confirmed that she's not her mother. So this is where her hatred really came from, not because Lucha was rebellious. Weird because it didn't appear that Lucha knows the truth although her sister does.

I laughed at Gabriel Porras' first few minutes. Haven't seen him since Corazon Valiente so it'll be interesting to see his diablo character.

El chivo
Bmc, I'm watching, although I do drift off at that time of night.
Unimas doesn't think of their viewers like Telemundo does so you can watch later. I can compare it to the movie & Wiki's bio of that monster. Wish we had a recapper.

Deb Re Senora:

You ARE good at recapping.I can pick up a good bit with
a modicum of Spanish and common sense, but your
recaps fill me in on a lot that I would miss otherwise.
Thank you.

Variopinta,
Glad you are watching El Chivo. I am getting ready to go on a trip and will be gone for awhile after a week and will need to catch up when I return home. I would love to try to do my first recap ever, just cannot do it now. So, I hope someone else gets interested in this Novela who can recap. If not, know that whenever possible I will at least make some litte comments. Although his character is so evil, I love Julio (actors name, I think) as the monster, Trujillo. I like the guy playing his hit man "Johnny Abbass" who was in a grim novela about human trafficking that I watched earlier this year, he played a bad guy who turned kind of good. Can't belived I understand the woman that played Lai in ESDLC2. She must of had marbles in her mouth, a la the Godfather during that entire novela. Sometimes I cannot really watch the Novela til the next AM, I am prbably going to wait till tomorrow to see most or all of tonight's episode.

Señora Acero... Wednesday, epi 7

Guadalajara...
ah, the truck that they were trying to hijack had supplies for plastic surgery.

we find out Salvador wasn't poisoned but has diabetes, that was probably brought on by stress, he is still in a coma, the doctor explains that this hospital doesn't have the resources to deal with this, he later gives Sara a list of things including insulin, to buy but she has no money for this stuff, she calls Junio.

and the wounded guy refuses to talk to Elio.

Tijuana...
is Junio driving that white Mustang that was in "Camelia la Texana"?

Junio grabs Mariana, shows his gun, and threatens her to get him some money or he will tell all, she goes to Indio at the cool junkyard office with the nice blankets on the old couches, and asks that he have him killed, am I your personal sicario, he asks, she explains how Junio has changed and now he knows all, Indio then tells her, this is what you will do...

Guadalajara...
Enriqueta pays off the quack doctor and gets rid of the body, she doesn't want an autopsy, and tells the frantic sister that she is alive but was taken to the hospital, she'll bring her there, then calls her guy to see if he's buried the body yet, nope, well make the hole big enough for two.

the sister rounds up her stuff and says bye to everyone, no one knows about her sister.

Sara thinks Elio is working for Indio and after her, when she sees him at the hospital she hides but he sees Aracely and follows her around, but Sara grabs his gun, he gets it back but pushes her into a closet, he wants to know where Indio is, he has a score to settle with him, but he never discloses who he is,

Elio figures out this is the wife of comandante Acero (also of the PGR) who stole $3 million from the cartel and was killed, there was no $3 million Sara barks at him, and how do you know, it was in the news,

the commotion brings the police, they arrest Sara because she was seen waving a gun, and after they take her away Elio discloses that he is an agent of the PGR, and that was his gun and he is working on an investigation which arresting Sara will compromise, so he talks the police into letting her go.

Sara goes back to check on Salvador but Aracely is curious about who this guy is and follows Elio.

hoody guy has returned to the hospital to see how the shot guy is, who says he didn't talk, then the hoody guy smothers him with his pillow to make sure he doesn't, but a guy in another bed sees this so the hoody guy grabs him and slams him up against the wall, but there is a hook there that goes into the back of his head, he slides down the wall a bloody mess and hoody guy gets out of there.

Elio's guy lets him know about the death of the shot guy and they return to the room, Aracely, who is following him, sees both dead guys, but recognizes the shot guy, Elio sees this and asks if she knows him, but she denies it, later she calls the beauty shop of horrors (where she works) and tells Lupita that the brother of her boyfriend (who is the hoody guy) is dead.

Tijuana...
Junio goes to see Sara's mother, Carlota, tells her about Salvador, they will go see him, but when she returns home from her supposed shopping trip without buying anything Josafine wants to know what's up, so Carlota swears her to secrecy and tells her Salvador is in a hospital.

PGR... (from wiki) The Attorney General of Mexico is the head of the Office of the General Prosecutor (Procuraduría General de la República, PGR) and the Federal Public Ministry, an institution belonging to the Federal Government's executive branch that is responsible for the investigation and prosecution of federal crimes.

Señora Acero

Speaking of butt enhancement, how about fix a flat?

En Otra Piel

Novelera, what a masterful recap of the final episode of this novela. As for the episode itself, I enjoyed the way things were wrapped up. It was just sweet enough but not overly saccharine or overly bloodthirsty. Thank you for championing this one, Novelera!

Señora Acero

"I'm really not that good at this."

You're kidding, right? Deb, I'm tempted to watch this just to read your prose poem recaps. If only the story were a little less disturbing...If only Blanca were a little more convincing...

I bet you have a lot of fans out there, Deb!

Señora Acero

Variopinta- wow, so our butt enhancement story isn't far off,
and that one pretty girl in the shop wants to get her breasts done.

NovelaMaven- thanks so much, that is quite a compliment, as I'm in awe about the recaps you and the others are doing in "Reina de Corazones", but do give this a quick look, Rebecca Jones is quite an intriguing villain as the 'patrona of beauty enhancement' and our narco Indio is actually kind of an interesting guy, and Sara (Blanca), well, she has her son Salvador to practice on, now that he's in a coma, and as the recaps come out as serious, the whole show has a lot of dead pan humor and interesting scenes.

Señora Acero... Thursday, epi 8

Guadalajara...
Salvador is still in a coma, he's stable , the doctor advises Sara to go home, she is worried about the money and buying what he needs.

Elio gives the hospital security tapes to his partner but stays to check out Sara, later interviews Salvador's doctor, and later they get a photo of the hoody guy (Empanada) from the tapes, make a poster and place it around the hospital, I think some of the nurses recognize him, they'll check it out.

Elio also gets a return call from the PGR guy in Tijuana, Elio wants info on Sara.

Enriqueta gives Yadira some pills which cause her to faint, then injects her with something and I guess she is on her way to being with her dead sister Magdalena, while her guys go to their apartment and clean it out.

Tijuana...
Mariana has Felipe sign a check for (was it) 100,000 pesos, NO, especially when he finds out it's for Junio, but Mariana explains that once she gives Junio the money, he will be killed, this delights Felipe and he signs.

Mariana makes her rendezvous with Junio, gives him the money, he transfers it to another bag and goes back to his trunk and returns, she's puzzled, but he knows they are waiting for him, so he runs inside with the bag as Tiburon and another guy show up and follow, he leads them to a mannequin dressed like him and they mow it down with gun fire as Junio circles back to his car and takes off with Mariana.

Tiburon reports back to Indio, he lost Junio, and the money, and Mariana,
Indio does not look pleased.

Mariana turns out to be a bag of tricks, first she tries to get out of the car but he has the door locked somehow, Sara calls Junio but before he can answer she grabs the phone and throws it out the window, next she grabs the wheel and tries to drive the car off the road, and later she tries throwing the money out the window, forcing Junio to stop fast (slamming her into the dash) and go back to pick it up, while she gets around into the drivers seat ready to take off, but Junio gets back in time to put his gun in her face. I guess he has no more patience as he now puts Mariana in the trunk and gags her (but I didn't see him tie her hands).

Guadalajara...
Meanwhile, while Sara is home sleeping she has a dream, she is with Vicente, her late husband, by a windmill or something while he is saying "this is where our future lies", bingo, she figures out where the $3 million is, and this is why she called Junio.

and later talking to Aracely about this sicario guy, no he's police, oh!

Tijuana...
Carlota leaves in a taxi to see Sara and Salvador, but Berta and Josafina are waiting in their car, and follow her to the bus station, and as they catch-up and jump on the same bus they discover Carlota is not there, she got wise and after ditching them meets up with Junio, he drives her to the airport and gives her 20,000 pesos for Sara as she wonders why there is blood on the dash, oh from a chicken, and what are those noises, I don't hear anything, but Mariana (in the trunk) hears them talking about Guadalajara.

Tiburon has searched everywhere and can't find Junio, he returns to the junkyard office, gets on his knees, hands Indio his gun, bows his head, and prepares to die.

Guadalajara...
Sara goes to the hospital to see Salvador, is the nurse feeding him a coke and a banana, Sara explains how he needs a special diet, (and I didn't really get this) but she asks Salvador about something and he gives her a location that Vicente gave him...

Great recap Deb. Thank you again. I must have missed
something, but I don't understand why Carlotta can't
let her other daughters know about Salvador. Is it because Beta is so jealous of Sara, or maybe because
Josefina might tell Felipe where they are?

Señora Acero

Anon- I think Sara said once that the only people she trusts are Junio and her mother, but her mother did tell Josefina (swearing her to secrecy) but it looks like she told Berta (who hates Sara and blames her for everything including their father's death), and Josefina is Felipe's wife who I think wants Sara dead for the beating he got from Indio, he has already hired that guy to find her that Junio killed, plus he is after the $3 million.

Deb

Thanks for the info!

Señora Acero

Deb, I wanted to take a moment to thank you for stepping up to the plate with recaps of this novela. I'm not watching it, but I'm sure you have more readers than you may be aware of.

There were a couple of Anonymous comments to your recap. Whoever you are, it is SO helpful to adopt a name to use, whether it's your real name or a screen name that means something to you. That way recappers learn to recognize the "regulars". It fosters a sense of community. If you don't want to register on Blogger, you can just put your name or fake name at the bottom of your post. Thanks!

I haven't made any comments that were not positive, and
I have tried to show my appreciation for the recaps not
being a Spanish speaker. I could understand why you might want to know who I am if I were making negative
comments.

Wow, Anon at 6:29, I never meant to imply that there was ANYTHING wrong with any of the Anonymous commenters remaining that way. It's just that I've been posting to this forum for many, many years. And we like recognizing people's names or nicknames because we think of them as friends. Of course, if you prefer not to do so, it's entirely up to you.

Thank you for explaining further.

TELEMUNDO...(rumors)

"Tierra de Reyes"
I've noticed that Telemundo is currently doing some filming on this in Miami,
and according to wiki,
this will follow "Reina de Corazones"
is based on "Pasión de Gavilanes"
starring
Aarón Díaz
Gonzalo García Vivanco
who both appeared/appearing in Los Miserables
and rumored, Sonya Smith
(I wonder what an actress goes through when she goes from the beautiful leading lady to the mother)

"Dueños del Paraíso"
and according to wiki this will follow "Señora Acero"
which may be the usual short (60/70 epi) narco show.

Señora Acero... Friday, epi 9
part 1

oh wow!

Tijuana
Indio doesn't shoot Tiburon THIS time, but scars his palm with his hot cigar tip, in front of all of the guys, who are quietly gulping, (Tiburon might have taken the death option)

Guadalajara...
Araceli is back at work, and when no one is around she gets a wad of money from a box someplace and slips it between her boobs, but Enriqueta sees her and gets it back... puts it between her boobs.

later Enriqueta explains to all at the shop that Yadira and Magdelena are gone, Magdelena was pregnant and her boyfriend wanted her to get an abortion, blah, blah, blah, or something.

Elio brings Sara a present at the hospital, she doesn't accept presents from strangers, what are you, police, sicario,,,,, but he persuades her to take it, it's insulin for Salvador.

and later Carlota arrives at the hospital and meets with Sara.
(I think Carlota will watch over Salvador while Sara returns to Tijuana to get the $3 million)

Tijuana...
Felipe gets a tip from the local PGR comandante (that Elio had called earlier looking for information on Sara), he lets Felipe know Sara is in Guadalajara.

soon after, the despondent Josefina and Berta arrive after losing Carlota, but then work with Felipe and Esteban ?? to locate Sara, Josefina spills about Salvador being in a hospital, ahha, Berta gets on the phone to find which one, then they have Josefina call Carlota at the hospital as she poses as Sara, and I think Carlota blurts out that Sara is returning to Tijuana, before Josefina hangs up without saying anything, it's smiles all around (except Josefina).

Guadalajara...
Sara stops by the beauty shop and Araceli introduces her to Cornelia ?? (the manager), Miriam (who I think is sleeping with Juan, Enriqueta's main guy) and Lupita, and while trying on a blond wig, Elio returns for his previous days haircut, ha!, but the girl that was there before no longer works there (because she is dead) so he picks Araceli and does he recognize this blond Sara, oh no, he does, awkward moment all around,

in the back room clinic dra.Injecta (Enriqueta) is injecting something into some poor ladies lips, that are all puffy in different places, yikes, (Enriqueta's work would make cold sores look good) when Empanada (the hoody guy that killed Andrecito in the hospital) comes back to warn her about the police guy (Elio) out in the shop, ut oh, and Enriqueta recognizes him from the other day.

Enriqueta comes out and wants to know who he is, and he says he is a forensic doctor at the hospital, huh?, but everyone plays along (because no one really knows who he is),

and meanwhile a boy's dog has discovered the dead girls bodies and it is being broadcast on the shop's tv, talking about how one girl looked like she had some kind of butt enhancement, Enriqueta is doing some major Gulps,

but anyway, Elio has to run but he wants Sara's phone number, huh? and pulls out a piece of paper to write on and it's one of the wanted posters for the hoody guy and Araceli recognizes Empanada, what? who happens to be Lupita's boyfriend, but somehow, passing the poster around they explain that away and Elio finally leaves.

but as Sara leaves we see him following her.

Señora Acero... Friday, epi 9
part 2

Tijuana...
all the while, Junio (with his hot Mustang) has taken Mariana to some abandoned shop, ties her up, and as he is violently crushing a coconut in a vise lets her know he has 2 months to live, she's truly touched, maybe, and then he gets around to asking her for one reason he shouldn't kill her, ahh, she spills, because I'm carrying your child, (and wow could this ever go wrong) he figures it's been 2 or 3 months since they have done it, why isn't she showing, and what kind of mother would set up the father of her child to be murdered, what kind of monster are you, she's looking worried, and he starts to leave, where are you going, to get a pregnancy test he replies.

later he returns, and sets her and chair back up (that fell over while she was trying to escape) rips open the pregnancy test, and reaches up under her skirt and pulls her undies down, positions the tester and tells her to pee, ha!, of course she can't or won't, but he says sooner or later, I'll just wait, and eventually they get it done, but wait, she IS pregnant!

(of course she has been boinking Felipe as part of her job description)

Junio is just totally lost.

Thanks again, Deb, for another great recap. To show you
how much your recaps help me, I thought the gift from
Elio was a pastry since she and Salvador have been going hungry. Poor me! Andres Palacios is TOO
GORGEOUS.

Anongringa

Señora Acero

Anongringa- thanks so much!

did you see "Camelia la Texana", Andres Palacios had just about the same role, the good cop that fell in love with the not-so-bad narco girl, but in the end they went their separate ways, I wonder how this will turn out.

so funny when he walks into the beauty shop (as an undercover cop) for a haircut he doesn't need and everyone is there.

this show keeps getting better and better!

Yes, I did watch Camelia and really liked it, especially as time went on. Also, I did notice how similar Andres
Palacios's character is in both novelas. What a sadsack
poor Junio is. At least his role is good in this one.
I was so disappointed when he turned out to be evil
in El Senor.

Señora Acero

I had a hard time following Camelia and ended up going to the library every day to rewatch it with english captions (which I don't get at home), but that story was so cool, one of my favorites.

ah yes Junio, dying, deceived, and the whole world is against him, and that Mariana sure is a handfull, but he has a nice car.

Thanks Deb.
Not really a narco novela fan, and not able to watch much at the late time-slot anyway, but your lovely recaps have made it possible for me to enjoy the episodes I do see by keeping me up to date with the story, and able to make some sense of what's going on.

I popped into see if Blanca was developing as an actress after the Avon hijinks of PEAM, which she has, at least a bit. Along the way, I am finding this less violently offensive than some of the other narcos I've sampled and abandoned.

I missed Camelia de Texas, so maybe I'm giving this a few points for "originality" that it doesn't deserve, but so far the characters don't seem to all be just one-note evil.

Narcosceptic

Oops that last Thanks Deb was about Senora Acero
Narcosceptic

I agree that Blanca Soto's acting has improved a little
which makes me happy since I really do like her character.

Anongringa

Señora Acero

thanks for your comments Narcosceptic!

there are a lot of scenes in this that crack me up, and I find all of the characters so fascinating, who are these people?

I'm new to Blanca but I can see why people have commented on her, but her style really seems to work here with these other characters, of course maybe the boy playing her son really did go into a coma just by doing scenes with her, ha! (just joking, I do like her more every show and I think being in one of these novelas is one of the hardest jobs there could ever be and I'm glad this cast looks like they are having fun).

btw, (if you don't already know) this is being created by Roberto Stopello who did "La Reina Del Sur" and may be a short novela as well.

Los Miserables

I follow Telemundo novelas online and am currently watching Los Miserables...at least until it gets too intense for me. I liked La Patrona, but took a hiatus during the mine explosion-manicomio episodes.

EN OTRA Piel
I liked the final, but I wish Eddie had found his sister. Also, since the series was set in California, shouldn't Elena and Pachuco gotten the death penalty for all the murders committed?

Señora Acero

some trivia,
Viviana Serna Ramirez who plays Lupita, the beauty shop girl that is going with Empanada, was the young Pati who later became the wife of Pablo in "Escobar, el patron del mal".

Hola Novela fans =)

Thanks to Deb and Novelera for all the great recaps and summaries. I must echo everyone’s compliments to Deb’s maiden voyage in recapping. You are doing an awesome job!

Miserables – For what it’s worth, I think Lucha was charged with being a smuggler herself, part of a team, as opposed to an unknowing accessory to a crime, since nobody believed her. Her boyfriend (I think his name was Pedro) ran out of the car and started shooting. Obviously they shot back and Lucha herself got shot. Apparently the bullet not only caused a miscarriage, but also punctured her uterus (much like the bad doc did to Sara de Acero). So far she’s tried to get Roxana the easy way, by showing her aunt the letter and nicely asking. She knows she’ll need to get legal help ‘cause the last thing she needs is to go back to jail for kidnapping. This is exactly what might happen since our sexy cop broke down the door so Lucha could get Roxy to the hospital after a nasty case of food poisoning (courtesy of some tamales her buddy Memin dug out of the trash since she hadn’t eaten since the night before). Hopefully the cop and mother superior will be able to vouch for the fact the munchkin would have died if they hadn’t rushed her to the hospital. I also wonder what sort of love triangle will be created when both brothers realize they are falling for the same woman. I’m liking the writing, and the performances are pretty good overall, so I may stick with it. We’ll see if I change my mind if it gets too depressing.

Acero – Deb, on the conversation between Chava and Sara – She asked him if he remembered how to get to the mill (it’s where dad proposed) since she was asleep for a big chunk of the trip. He tells her dad made sure he memorized the address because mom would ask one day. It sounds more like landmarks (higway, km#, etc), but hopefully it will be correct. Oh, and thanks for the 411 on the actress playing Lupita. I do love trivia! I’m not sure “Empanada” knows Elio is a cop, just that he saw him at the hospital; so his identity is still safe. He asked Sara for her number using the excuse that the people he bought the insulin from sometimes made donations, and he’d let her know the next time they were donating. At first she didn’t trust him, but changed her mind when he said he was a doc and that’s why he was at the hospital. On the “specialist” Queta (short for Enriqueta) hired, I think he’s a vet. The goons said he would take a while because he was busy with a mare giving birth, and Queta said to call him again and remind him she paid better than the rancher. Not sure Empanada and Anselmito were brothers. I believe the term “carnal” can be used to refer to a friend as well, like calling someone “bro”. Will definitely miss Junio when he’s gone. He’s grown quite a set now that he knows he’s dying. I did love Deb’s musing: “at least he has a nice car”.

Catch you all later =)

Señora Acero

Margarita- wow, thank you so much for your comments! I've been doing these recaps because no one else has been but my spanish is really limited and I don't have english captions so although I can relate what I see, the conversations often lose me.

and wow, your interesting details really fill in some holes for me, I just couldn't figure out why Sara had to ask Salvador where that place was, and was clueless to the doctor being a vet. Any little bits you wish to add along the way we sure will appreciate.

Los Miserables

Margarita- thanks also for your comments here as well, I'm kind of watching this, I like how Lucha gets in everyone's face, and her scenes with Roxana, and especially how Sor Amparo has enough goodness for everyone.

the Miserables

some trivia,

Erik Hayser, who plays the cop Daniel, was twins in "Camelia la Texana" both of which were killed, by different people for different reasons.

Alexandra De La Mora, who plays the cold blond Helena, married to the nasty Radamés Echeverría (Tigre in "La Patrona") was the dark haired Patricia, married to the non performing guy also in "La Patrona".

Does anyone know who is the actor who portrays Empanada a.k.a Orlando ( Lupita's boyfriend) in Señora Acero?

. -Erick
