Aw, hell no! There is no way in the world that I would let that beeyotch get away with treating me like that! Pregnant or not, she would know "de lo que soy capaz!" First I would pull her dang platform shoe off and smack her knee with it. Then I would jump up, grab her by her long extensions, and drag her downstairs right to her husband. I would throw her toward him and before anyone could say a word, I would tell him, "This belongs to you. I would advise you to keep this thing in check and out of my room and out of my way. My job here is to take care of the children. Period. I am not here to cater to this trepadora or her leech of a mother or to be the object of their little power games and humiliation. I do not and WILL NOT work for either one of them, is that clear? And you (to the bruja), you don't have to prove to me every five minutes that you 'won' and are now la Senora Lascurain. Every last person in this house, including the youngest, knows that he married you SOLELY because you're pregnant. Every one knows that he's really in love with me. But don't worry. I won't be in a competition with you for him. The minute he decided to marry you because it's the right thing to do, I realized he's not for me. I need a real man. A man who is ready to fight for our love. I DON'T WANT HIM. Now, if that's acceptable to you, Boss, I'll stay. If not, I'll say my goodbyes to the children and be off. You can have your tarantula and her gold digger mother, who treat your long-time staff like dirt and hope you're very happy with your decisions. Diego, I have to get out of this place, would you take me to my house?"

Then, on the way out, I would be really mean and wrong and say, "Oh, by the way, I just heard her mother ask her if she was sure that baby is yours!" And take off.

I'm serious. If anyone tried to treat me like that, that's exactly what I would do.

Anon, I think you summed it up for us perfectly. I started seeing red with how Fer just stood there watching his staff acting like something out of 19th century manor greeting him home with MeanieMama barking orders. That little aside about Bruno didn't cut it. What a coward, he should have stopped all that with the same force he isn't afraid to lay into his brother, heck to Ana even, when he wants to throw his weight around.

I know Jardinera, the brujas have to ramp their behavior to make their anvil more appealing. What I really dislike about this is how Fer.He's not blind, he just refuses to see what's around him. Heaven forbid he has to realize he made a bigger bone-head blunder than he knows he already did. "La la la. Dont' hear it, don't see it....all is well. It will work, it will work...." HATE HATE heros who are so clueless until the end of the TN. Real world, most women would take a powder long before that.

All his after the fact apologies (hello poor Sebas)are starting to ring hollow to me unless I see it coupled with some action and change in behavior soon.

Can't wait for the recap! Have a feeling the board is going to have a field day on this episode.

I hope Ana starts standing up for herself because I won't be able to take her getting humiliated for 100+ episodes.
 

I did notice one thing I was wrong about with Fernando. I thought he would see what Yolanda was doing and do nothing but Friday at least he shut her down real quick about Bruno, saying he had been with him a long time and shouldn't be disrespected. They were alone, she did a quick 180, and she asked Fernando if she could get him something. Fernando is capable of putting his foot down is something makes him uncomfortable. He did it with Yolanda (but not in front of Bruno) and he has asked his brother to leave the house.
 

True, but he might not shut Isabully down for two reasons:

1. If his first wife had to be babied during any pregnancy because of issues he might regard her as "delicate" (which we all know she isn't) and/or

2. She will keep her worst behavior for when he isn't in the room to witness it, such as when she stepped on Ana's hand.

Had that been me I would have grabbed her other foot behind the ankle and swept her right off to do a pratfall on the floor. In absence of any witness I would deny deny deny having done that and told her off.

Whatever job is eating up your weekend must be discarded immediately so that you can look for work as a wordsmith of one kind or another! I don't think that Yo-landa or Carmen Salinas will ever recover in my mind from your hilarious descriptions of her on the loose.

As for the content, what can any of us say but that the formula of this formulaic-novela reigns on with our mother-less heroine pledging to stay on the sinking familial ship. Diego becomes the hero if for no other reason he speaks sensibly and thoughtfully and will defend Ana to the death. I did think that the scene between the two brothers was the best of the night, though I am a complete devotee now of our bon-bon Bruno.

Jennifer fixed Nico's fancy car. So the thought is that she can be taught by his mechanic buddy to do much more. She will never make the money back that Ana owes but it will be a welcome change of scenery IMHO. I wasn't sure whether you had seen the act of mechanical-wizadry that led to this idea.

My final comment: Leon has left the realm of redeemability. This actor can look incredibly sweet and handsome OR seem to be sneering. Perfect for the role.

Great recap of a great episode! Thanks, Jardinera. I am eagerly awaiting the final part.

I loved this episode! The masks and gloves are off on all fronts! Major melodramatic comedy!

The writers did such a great job of turning Isabela and Yolanda into almost cartoon characters. I especially got a kick out of Yolanda "la capataz" from the goofy marching to telling Fernando: "Call me mother in law and I'll jump." Then she actually gave a little jump on her little legs. Isabela was truly evil from putting her foot on Ana's hand to calling her "la nanaca" to her face to reminding her of who is sleeping with Fernando every night. No question about who the enemies are in this one. Very funny.

Then there is Fernando suffering more major fallout from his bad decision. Oh, no! He has discovered that he cannot control his brother Diego and that he has hurt Sebastián beyond anything he could have imagined--all that in addition to feeling guilty about hurting Ana. Will he do the right thing and get a divorce ? Will Ana refuse to be treated like garbage and quit? Probably not. They both probably will just dig their heels in which will lead to more drama and laughs on Monday.

If I remember correctly, some blog posters do not consider Isabruja evil. After Friday’s episode, I have to disagree. She epitomizes egocentrism and exudes venom. Blech!

Yomama Bruja disgusts me. Did that woman actually eat all that food Manuela prepared for her? I thought she was going to eat Nico’s engagement ring, too.

Although the previews indicate Ana and Fernan-duh ultimately pair, I remain rooting for dear Diego. (Aphrodite and Hera – Will you please revise Ana’s romantic fate?)

Tamara’s a stalker. Watch out, Fanny.

Luz – I want to adopt you.

Bruno - I would love to have you as a loyal friend; I could always count on you.

Finally, someone noticed Johnny’s missing!

Did Nico say he would get Jen or Johnny a job as a mechanic?

 

Oh I don't know how Ana is going to manage the s**t that the Brujas (both) are going to throw at her. They will definitely hide all their attacks against Ana from Fer. And, based on what we've seen so far, who knows if he has the balls to put his foot down and stop these witches.

Nico will get Jen the job. Dana convinced Jen that though she didn't want to take money from Nico, she should consider asking him to find her a better job. Based on her ability to fix his car that broke down on the way to the wedding, he is going to hook her up with a mechanic friend who can teach her some additional mechanics.

Only in novelaland, but love these two characters and sounds like a plan. Maybe he will slip the guy more money to make it all easier for Jennifer, she will find out, more broncas -- only reading all the many scripts from past novelas still active in my mind!

Jonny does finally show up, I guess it will be in the part of the recap that isn't done yet. He tries to get into his apartment and learns that it's got new tenants.

I thought that Tamara was going to tell Fanny that she's Leon's wife. She might still do that I suppose. What is Leon waiting for? Does he think this problem will just go away?

If Jennifer says yes the the marriage proposal, then I hope she will let him pay off her debts.

This was amazing. I was completely entranced by your recap.

"Get some backbone and if you’re gonna turn the other cheek, then make sure it’s the ones on your derrieres, dearies!!)" and "Field Marshal Yo-landed-us-a-big-un" were but a few of your wonderful lines.

I wasn't prepared for the intensity and depth of Isabel's cruelty. She has morphed from an unpleasant, insensitive witch into a monster very quickly. It does not seem at all probable that Ana will be able to sustain her acid barbs and sheer cruelty much longer.

I'm not sure how much longer viewerville will be able to stand this either!

The other disturbing event to me was that Leon still has not told Fanny the truth. Mati, I completely agree with your astute "My final comment: Leon has left the realm of redeemability. This actor can look incredibly sweet and handsome OR seem to be sneering. Perfect for the role".

Well said. Leon, you are dead to me.

I had hopes that Yolanda had a conscience and might be a catalyst into forcing Isabel to back off. How wrong I was.

OMG! I am mopping up Coffee Coolatta from the desk. That was an absolutely brilliant description. And sorry, just don't find Yolanda amusing. Talking slow to Ana, and you just know they will be demeaning and bossy behind Fer's back to all the staff. Nothing about verbally abusing anyone seems amusing to me, no matter how the writers paint it.

Still trying to figure out, even with Johny back to the land of the living, how he figures into this story. I worry there is a plan here that is going to make me a very unhappy viewer.

I love Bruno, but dang, that is a lot of pressure to put on Ana. I can understand the children, but she shouldn't have to be everyone's savior. And Fer? Baloney, she owes him NADA!

Looking forward to the next installments later.

Yolanda seems to have a bit more sensitivity to other's moods and opinions than Isabela. When Yolanda started in on Bruno to Fernando and she learned that Bruno was someone who Fer respected, she quickly changed her tune about her attitude about Bruno. She also seems to be more understanding of what they will have to put up with in order stay where they are and get what they want. And that's not to say she isn't a bad person because she taught her daughter how to behave.
 

Jardinera, this recap great and brings me right back into the moment. Started to highlight all the good stuff but my finger got tired with the copy/paste.

I missed watching this episode so your recap is just wonderful - not only well-written, but amusing as well and without it I would have missed the entire episode. I don't know how Ana is going to counteract Isabel's horrible-ness. I would leave and could not stay in love with a man who was so insensitive to my feelings in having to live side/side with Isabel knowing that I am in love with him!! Not at all worth it. Ana is not responsible for the children in the final analysis, only Fer is.
He's doing so much harm to his existing children in wanting to look out for the unborn one. Not this woman's "thinking man", just really didn't weigh the pros and cons of his actions enough. But love this TN and glad it is going to be on for awhile.

Sammie here. Formerly known as Anon 1:09. I stumbled upon this blog totally by accident a couple of tns ago and got hooked. I usually just read and enjoy the wonderful recaps and great comments without commenting myself. I believe in Caray world this is called "lurking?"

Anyway, I just couldn't remain quiet this time. Sorry about that long rant, but I just couldn't help it. I usually watch tns by myself, with a sprinkle of drive-by comments from the peanut gallery aka my husband. I don't normally comment out loud about what I see on screen, but this scene where Ana just took Isabela's mess was too much for me and I went off! I got so loud my other half came running in and when he found out the reason for my diatribe, he just shook his head at me and said, "Well, stop watching!" And I went off on HIM!

STOP WATCHING?!? Is he serious? Does he not realize that ... take a deep breath ... calm down ... okay, I'm all better now.

But I did chase him back to his man cave to watch his own TV - something about some guys in tight pants and huge, bigger-than-the-eighties shoulder pads play keep away with a funny-shaped missile and then all jumping on top of each other. What is it called .. what is it called ... oh, yeah, football!

Don't mess with me and my novelas, dude!

I am wondering whether Yolanda snagged her rich husband through pregnancy entrapment. The most declasse way to get a man to marry her and now the most gauche handling of servants and a household. She was making me sick.

Her daughter outdid her, though. As previously referenced, both will suffer for this in the end.

Jardinera, thanks so much for the epic recap! I am getting stressed out watching our favorite people/characters be mistreated by those two witches! The writers need to sprinkle a little yeast into this dough and let the witches get a taste of their own medicine once in awhile.

Also: Fernando has now done abject apologies to three of his children for not being there for them: Nando, Fanny, and now Sebas. Does he not get a clue that the whole family dynamic is connected? And his decision to marry will affect all the children and cannot be mended by more lame and meaningless apologies?

Thanks, Jardinera! Oy, what a frustrating episode, but your recap is pure delight. Would love for the whole household to turn their other cheeks to the brujas.

I HATE that Ana is being all meek and submissive. QTH. She was never that submissive to unFer, and he's actually her boss! I wish she had calmly said to Isa, "I don't work for you" and simply not followed any of her orders. And then if Isa complained to Fer, go with Sammie's rant.

And I think Bruno should tell Fer that the witches are so demanding that the staff can't do their actual jobs taking care of the family and be the witches' slaves at the same time, so Isa and Yomama need their own servants.

I also think Ana should enlist the help of Fanny and Diego and Nic to fill the house with hidden cameras and microphones to record all the abuse. Evidence would surely come in handy at some point. Blackmail, if nothing else.

If Ana stays, she should get at least quintuple her previous pay.

I don't think Leon is past redemption yet, but he's sliding downhill fast. What an idiot? How long does he think he can keep anything from Fanny? I'm surprised she hasn't shown up at the boardinghouse unannounced and encountered Tamara and Mau yet.

Fatima - ITA. Visiting the Caray blog throughout the day is great fun. Not only do the hilarious recaps help me understand what I missed in the episode, the comments make me chuckle.

Tamara has no desire to get a job at Fer's company for employment's sake; she's stalking Fanny and plotting something dastardly. Since she deserted her husband and kidnapped their son, she deserves no sympathy and should have no expectation of reconciliation with Leon.

Leon would have merited sympathy if he revealed the details about his AWOL spouse and son to Fanny in the beginning of their relationship. However, since his cowardice compels him to continue to deceive her, he forfeits ALL rights to sympathy.

Fer remains clueless, spineless, and, in Julia's words, 'unFer.'

Yomama Bruja, the Bruja Mayor, kept repeating a word, 'lele,' when she mistakenly assumed Nico purchased the engagement ring for her. Does anyone know what it means? My Spanish dictionary does not list that word, and the online one defines it as 'silly.' This definition does not seem to fit the context of the scene.

 

Somebody commented earlier that she looked like she would swallow the ring and I am now wondering whether she would have if only to prevent him proposing to Jennifer.
 

Ecuador - you know how junior bruja keeps talking to the kids in that annoying, cloyingly "sweet" baby talk? Well, now I see where she gets it from. The word for "hurts" (as in my finger hurts) is "duele" and little kids learning to speak usually say "me lele" since they can't yet pronounce it correctly. The smurfette's use of it was simply her idiotic attempt at being cute by using baby talk. Ugh! It was so ridiculous and annoying!

I have to say that while I'm always a sucker for the story line, Fer is making me sick! Really, what was that ridiculous salute of the staff that he watched with Yo-l(oc)a-nda calling the shots? It was humiliating to them all! And he saw enough of how the staff was being treated to set some boundaries!

I also think were it not for TN land Ana WOULD have spoken of to Don Effer. The man would certainly believe her, AND, he can't be so stupid as to think he can marry a bruja AND send away the only woman that the children have felt motherly vibes from since his wife's demise? I am not enjoying watching the humiliation AT ALL!

Someone suggested that Ana get Diego and the gang to set up hidden cameras-- why not have the kids drag out their remote control car again and capture some choice footage.

Poor Alicia, she is going to be in for a terrible fall when she finds out the truth!

Thank goodness for you guys-- I think we are in for a few rough weeks of humiliation!

I'm firmly ensconced right now at the Diego table. Thanks Tofie for pointing out that comment he made to Fer. I hadn't caught that. So now my inquiring mind wants to know more detail....was this Nico's company and Fer took charge or did her start a company with Dad's capital and reputation? I keep thinking back at the start of this TN that he needed to get investors on board.
So that would open the board for someone (Lisardo?) to move in for a takeover? Would be interesting to learn Fer's not exactly Mr. WhizKid at business either.

I'm not a fan of this Leon plot and there is way too much in how they are trying to parallel Fer and Leon-- each has a women with their child. Wants the child, doesn't want the women...could we try for something more original? They both need a good smack up the back of the head.

For some strange reason I keep thinking Tamara and Ximena are going to wind up buddies...past or future.

Rebecca - You're right about poor Alicia. In the scene in which Isabruja skyped her on her iPad, when she and unFer lounged at the beach, did she call Alicia fea? Cruelty toward Ana because of jealousy is one thing; cruelty to an insecure teenage girl is another. This behavior notches her evil status up another level.
 

Alicia goes ga-ga over Bela’s being there finally. The rest of the siblings go gag-gag instead.

While parents should not cave to every demand their children make of them they definitely need to listen if there is a major objection to a new step-parent. Isabruja will be the Wicked Stepmother Cliche to the hilt before this is over and Fernando will feel like a prize idiot.

Yep, I'm on Team Diego myself and I love the idea of secretly recording/videotaping Yo-Naca and Isabruja's private conversations. Wish it could be possible, but for now that doesn't seem probable.

Ana will have enough to bear and enough work to do without dancing attendance on Las Brujas. The entire staff needs to call a conference with Sr. Spineless to define their duties.

I don't know that I can stand to watch every moment of this. I may have to go by recaps for a while.

Our dear Jorge is verging on disappointment for me. Many couldn't stand his angry character in LQNPA, then his mariachi singer debut in QBA. I could take the angry man with a whip better than this spineless victim we see here.
 

La Paloma: Wow! Hadn't actually thought of Don Ferd as a victim. Spineless? definitely!

I know it's rough, but this too will pass and we'll have illicit? love and roses sooner than you think. Sort of like a Norwegian sauna experience racing from a steaming hot room to a jump into icy waters.....
 

The writers will do what they will to our characters. We all know that.

I have serious doubts that even actors of JS's status have much influence over how their characters are written. In US soaps this was not the case, but that was mostly because those ran indefinitely with actors playing the same characters for longer than most writers' stints on the program. Susan Lucci played Erica Kane ever since she was 17 and thus if a writer 20 years later wrote something out of character for Erica she could object and it would be changed because she virtually lived Erica's life on camera.

Having said that, if Fernando could so quickly undo what he's done we wouldn't have a series. All I'm hoping for is that there is no serious change in tone for this series as there was in PEAM.

the only issue i would have with Ana doing as you say is the kids... that is not the example she wants to give them... and the only thing she would achieve witht hat is to follow Isa's plan to a tee... give Fernando reasons to believe that you and Isa / Bruja Mayor can't live under the same roof... and he would end up chosing (lo correcto) her over you.

 

Jardinera, I guess if Don Ferd is a victim, he's a victim of himself. Maybe I should have called him a nebbish. Whatever the most accurate noun is, the adjective is weak!

Yes, we wouldn't have a story without conflict and the writers are acting upon our characters. Maybe I need a new beanie.

What I really dislike about this is how Fer.He's not blind, he just refuses to see what's around him.
the one that has to take action and stop ignoring the obvious signs in front of him is Fernando. He is the wishy washy one here, and i agree with Anon that Ana should push Isa toward him and say 'you deal with her!'. (if it were not for the kids needing her, as Bruno put well... but then again the dysfunctionality Fernando has created in the family by ignoring his duty is not for Ana to pay for with humilliations and abuse that she does not deserve.)

I was super impressed with Sebastian's acting chops in Friday's episode. He is becoming more and more grounded as an actor as he dares to enter the emotional landscape of acting. I am proud of that little actor.

From what we know of the life of the household as Fernando and Diego were young, there was no 'step-mom'. Seems Fernando and Diego were left to be raised/watched by the staff... so there wasn't any situation similar to this in Nico's house.
Having said that, I still believe it is Fernando who should jump on the horse (household) and command where it should go... and ITA that it was Fernando's decision to ignore the opinion of the first seven children in order to give 'a happy home' to the one to come... boy that is many lives you are sacrificing for the one... and you should consider the other options (don't really have to marry Isa in order to be in your child's life and give the child all the happiness you can)...

Having said that, I really hope Fernando puts his foot down and tells Isa and her mom that Ana is there to watch over the kids, not as a maid... i noticed they have at least two other maids, another guy and the gardener... and Fernando can always hire one more maid to attend to Isa's and Yola's needs...
it would not solve the deeper problem but it might reduce the amount of abuse and humilliation Ana has to endure... a raise would not be a bad idea either.
Also, i know why Ana didn't just tell Isa 'I don't work for you.'. Having seen Fernando opt for what he considers 'correct' by marrying Isa, I bet he would also tell Ana that Isa is 'la senora de la casa' and Ana can't say things like 'I don't work for you'. But he can certainly say Ana has enough on her plate with the kids... (just like he would not expect the gardener to have to be on-call for Isa/Yola) and hire someone specifically to serve Isa and Yola.
 

The cameras to gather evidence against Isa/Yola sounds like a great idea, especially if it is Diego who takes care of that.
 

I had explained the 'lele' line in the end of the comments on the wedneday recap... i agree with Sammie... it was a bit ridiculous /caricaturesque that Yola used it but that was the context, a childish way to say 'it hurts'.
 

what i found most funny was Nico yelling at Diego 'cuidado que le lele!!' after she had whined 'me lele'.
 

I know this is a stupid question, but I'm a little peeved.
Why does Fernando have to hire new staff to cater to the needs and whims of the Brujas? Ana says GTH and the Brujas can and should take care of themselves. There are seven more needing souls in the mansion.
 

I think if Fernando knew about the problem that Ana is having with Isa, he would put a stop to it, but no one has told him yet.

Victoria Gomez: As a protagonist, Ana is not allowed to do more than to obey and suffer for the first half of a novela. And, Ferd can do no more than be ignorant of the problem because he's naive and chooses not to believe, never is in the right place at the right time, is never told or is lied to about the incident. TN rule book.
 

La Paloma/Tofie: I like the idea of a beanie BBQ and garage sale. --Now hard hats are a good idea, but perhaps not delicate enough for me.....How many adjustable knobs and antennae will fit onto one?
 

La Paloma, that explanation is great! Please put my order in for a super beanie. If there are other Novelas like CI and CDL, I will definitely need one. I'd say I wouldn't watch such novelas, but unfortunately we often don't know that they are going to be so terrible ahead of time. By the time I find one to be so stupid, or go off track, I have too much invested to turn it off.

I'm probably in the minority, but it took me approximately 58 of 63 episodes to get into "La Reina del Sur". If it had been126 longer, I might have plugged the plug. However, it was my first Kate del Castillo novela, and I loved hrr!
 

Cathyx: Wanna take bets on how long it is before ANYBODY dares discuss Isabruja and Yolanaca's antics with him? Ana knows, but she and Bruno are both scared for their jobs now.

Victoria: I have tried to get involved with Reina, but couldn't. Had to drop it after the first few epis. I know it's got to be great, The novel was good--tho' I only got half way through and real life took over. Maybe another time if Telemundo would put the CC in Spanish instead of irritating English. Destroys my concentration.

Kate Del Castillo has been around now for a couple of decades or more and has branched off into a few US films. She's always been a terrific actress, far and above general TN fare. If you can find full recordings of Ramona or La Mentira, those are a couple of the best remembered of her early days. You tube may have them by now.

I must admit I again fast forwarded through the majority of this episode. I just can't stand Isa and Mama. They really are horrendous people.

With CI, the torture of Maricruz went on forever and I didn't feel any of them got the true comeuppance they deserved. I can't stand another 149 episodes of Ana being tortured and then have everything all happy in the last episode. Just wouldn't be enough to satisfy me. Hope Isa starts to suffer soon.
 

Jardinera, with the hard shell, plenty of knobs and antennae however the balance must be right and I fear with so many holes punched for the accessories it may be weakened structurally and come to pieces. It will ruin a perm, give you that.
 

How quickly do you think it will be before Isa or Yomama catch Ana leaving or coming home from Chicago?
 

Jardinera, at least 70+ episodes before Fernando knows anything. We wouldn't have much of a story if he put a stop to Isa's wicked ways.

I absolutely do not care for narco novelas and only watched "La Reina del Sur" because it was recommended so highly by Caray, Caray bloggers (refer to 'Recommended Novelas' blog).

While Telemundo.com now has the captions in both Spanish and English, I would not recommend watching it on Telemundo.com because the commercial breaks will drive you absolutely crazy. Telemundo plays the same four to five commercials throughout the whole show and the same four to five commercials are played a minumum of four to five times during each episode. This was my first foray into Telemundo.com and the last! By the way, I will never ever buy Daisy Sour Cream!

Unfortunately, I was unable to find all the episodes on YouTube or DailyMotion.
 

Jardinera (and forgive me all if it was someone else who said this), but I think you said "unless rent-a-priest was an actor, it being a religious ceremony, short annulment or death, Isabela’s got Don Effer by the cajones for eternity! OMG!!!" Question, as I'm not Catholic, IF as we all suspect, said bebe is not a verdad Lasucrain, is that not grounds for annulment? And, would it be THAT bad if the hero got a divorce? They divorced in Amor Bravio, right?

I still say he's being a total schmuck (I'll take your nebbish and raise you a schmuck!) about how the new tenants are treating the staff. And Fer got a taste of this when he took Isa to dinner and they saw Ana and Johnny at the next table. You can tell alot about a person by how they treat waiters! He may be married to Isa, but I would be (will be?) shocked if he takes her side and fires Ana. He's not a TOTAL idiot and he sees how much his kids need her.... of course if he IS a total idiot, I'm on board with Diego stepping in!

Carvivlie, The Cabal, uncovering Ana's other job, will be tragic and admit I have not wanted to contemplate that. Telling Fernando is one thing, but threatening to disclose the beloved nanny works at a gentlemans club (doubt the younger kids would comprehend) not outside their MO. They do want to remove all 7 kids and Ana from the house for free reign and that would do it for her and no way Fernando would give her a pass.
 

so on top of being a wimp/weakling, Fernando was an idiot... if you want to marry the woman because she is having your kid but you KNOW you don't love her, you love another... WHY oh WHY did you marry her by church??
have no clue what entails a legal annullment by church, but still... he is an idiot and he deserves sleeping on the bed he built for himself... but neither his first 7 kids nor Ana deserve any consequences of his decisions.
 

Rebecca: You may be right that Ferd will never of his own free will push Ana out. He needs her there and wants her there as much as the kids do. He's so in love with her and it's like a dog in a manger. Anyway, he'll be emotionally using/abusing her every bit as badly as he accused Diego of meaning to do. Can't live with her but definitely cannot do without her.

Carviville: I believe it'll be in the next few weeks cuz it's gonna be rough coming and going as she pleses at all hours unless she moves her bedroom to the downstairs/back of the house.
 

Urban: Did I miss something here? Why would any of the kids ever be kicked out--perhaps all sent off to boarding school instead? No need for Ana except for Luz and the baby. But then, Isabruja will lobby to find her own nana at that point, I suppose.
 

Reb: I'm no Catholic (so somebody who is can correct me)but from what the Tn's suggest/lead us to believe there is no reason for annulment unless there's proof that there has never been a consummated marriage or some accidental abnormal pairing of blood relatives has occurred.

Sounds like this show has gotten into the really painful period, when the villains get to gloat and have their way and trample on people-- literally! Ouch!

I can't believe that Fer is just going to stand back and let these two harpies walk all over his family and staff. If so, he really is a wimp!

Rebecca- The galan was first married in a Jewish ceremony in Amor Bravio, and the heroine's ex-husband died, so there were no Catholic Church complications.
 

UA, been thinking about that and guess we'll find out with his response to Sebastian tonight. My focus was on Diego's impending banishment from the house and Ana's mistreatment but as mentioned by others, now Fernando knows 3 of his kids have an issue with his wife. If his reaction toward Fanny, when she has mentioned it, is any indication he may tell them all to talk to the hand and deal or leave (or make arrangement for boarding school). I hope he doesn't decide to enlist the help of Isabela in dealing with Sebastian because of her recent bonding with Alicia.

 

Jardinera- In Cuando me Enamoro, the heroine petitioned the Church for an annulment based on fraud-- because she believed the galan married her just to get revenge, not because he actually desired to form a marriage and family with her. They would have granted it, had the galan not convinced her that he loved her and that even when he married her, he loved her.
 

Would it be impossible for Ana to move out of the house? She can arrive to help the kids in the morning and then come back when they get off school and stay until they go to bed. This would put her out of the way of Isa and Yomama for the most part. Luz may find it difficult not to sleep with Ana but eventually she will be okay. It would save Ana.
 

This show is getting great ratings both here and in Mexico, by the way.

Fernando has become the same caricature that Televisa thinks we'd rather see instead of an actual galan, with a backbone and sensible feelings about things that surround him.
This part of the story annoys me so much, I would so give up on watching if it weren't for my recapping duties and for all of you helping me stand the burden of going through so much stupid torture.

Ok, I don't know if anyone answered about the annulment question, but I definitely remember that on AB, Daniel was able to get an annulment because they were not married in a Catholic ceremony but rather in a Jewish one. So an annulment was not a problem.

I don't know about Catholic or Mexican laws regarding annulments but I remember several novelas where the couple could not get a divorce if there was a question about the wife being pregnant. I think this gave the husband the right to deny the divorce. I think "Apuesta por Un Amor" was the last novela I saw on YouTube where this happened.

Some better Catholic than I might be able to answer the annulment question. wouldn't one have to be divorced first to ask for a divorce?


 

Nanette: Just WOW to your extensive list. Though I put Sebas rebelling into the Highs list. I think the kids acting up is brings a dose of badly needed reality.

Anyone else disturbed when Fer grabbed Sebs arm? He realized his error but that made me think he and Isa are not as far apart as I thought in terms of their manhandling of others when angry.

Vivi: Didn't CI have great ratings to the end? I still can't seem to get over the disappointment of that show! Probably bec it was my very first TN.
 

Carvivlie- Let's not bring up CI. :) Ratings are definitely not the sole measure of how good (or bad) a show is-- that's what we learned from CI.

I'm not even really watching this tn, but I like to see when my favorite actors (like SN) are getting good ratings. It means they get more respect in their network. I don't think SN re-signed a contract with Televisa. She's a free agent at the moment.

He started to tell her about a lost love, could she be his kid? wishful thinking on my part of cause but they connect so well.
Sammie, on behalf of all recovering Lurkers everywhere, Welcome. Fer is now officially dead to me. The whole family should revolt. Mutiny in the Luscurian household. He didn't lay down any ground rules for his new wife. Isab---made no bones about her feelings about Ana. He saw how she approached her and he just mentally leaves the scene. He is not even thinking about her negative impart on the kids. They all hate her,with the exception of Alicia. God forbid he thinks about the effect on Ana. what a whimp! and he has the nerve to be upset with Diego.

As far as catholic church annulments, I remember from Luz Maria (and at that time in Peru, marriages by church were about as orthodox as you get, but, granted, the groom in question had his brother, a catholic priest, run the request and see it through) the marriage between the leading guy and the villainess wife was annulled because she had lied to him telling him she had conceived a baby and lost it because of an accident, when she truly never would have been able to have a child because of the 'under-grown uterus' (matriz infantil) issue (not sure the medical term). Also the wife tried to murder the heroine. So because she lied to her husband (the annullment request was sent before the murder attempt), he was able to get a divorce... and he married the heroine by church in their home town. BEFORE his first wife died a few months later.

exactly. its like he took three steps back when his plans got totally overriden (he had just decided he loved the nanny and was about to start an official relationship with her when the pregnancy bomb was dropped on him). So he totally undid all the advances Ana had achieved on him and his relation with the kids (except he still now treats Fanny and Nando as adults - he stopped her before she left when she was upset he was going to marry in 3 wks to tell her he loved her... and his facial expression showed he meant it, and he talked about the situation with Nando before everyone else found out)...
And yes, ITA that his roughly grabbing Sebastian by the arm to drag him into the library room was inappropriate, especially of the Fernando that had 'melted' the ice and had started to repair his relationship with his kids, thanks to Ana.
 

I love this show and want Fernando & Ana together, forever. However, this marriage to Isabela is Fernando's choice. He is an adult and a successful business man and should know how to run a risk analysis before executing any contract. Though the pregnancy and marriage a set up courtesy of Isabela & Yomama, even she didn't push for marriage, Fernando decided and the only one he gave prior notice was Nando on a father and son outing. Claiming ignorance after those close to him suffer the consequences is not a mitigating circumstance. He is of the opinion a decision (even a bad one) of his is correct and if someone else has a problem with it, that is their problem, not his. I still think his largest problem is that humongous ego that has more bedrooms than the mansion he lives in. Until he learns some humility his decisions are more damaging to his own family and staff than anything Isabela & Yomama cook up.

 

Thanks for the thoughts on annulment everyone. I also just remembered that Alejandro tried to get an annulment from Montse and that marriage had certainly been consummated. But in truth I don't remember why that went away....

Bruja Menor is unbelievably pathetic. Her smug gloating was really sad, in a way. Married to a guy who doesn't love her and doesn't want to be married to her, if not for the baby...living in a house full of kids who hate her...with her tacky demanding mama...pregnant with a child she doesn't want except as a meal ticket...I think she learned her definition of "winning" from Charlie Sheen. With success like that, who needs failures?

I agree that Ana should live in her own house and only come over to the mansion when the kids are there and awake.

And Fer should quit being so obtuse. He KNOWS Isa can't stand Ana and is rude to her. Yet he opts to ignore the whole situation. Useless twit.

Victoria: I’m the same about TNs. I wanted to quit Robo, but by the time I was fed up with it, I’d invested so much time and wanted to see how a couple of plot lines came out, so continued. Same with PEAM, though I mainly stayed with that one for Fernando Colunga. I’m sorry you didn’t like LRDS. It is one of my favs. Re: the lists. I’ll be watching an ep and say “I’ll have to remember to put that on the list” (usually it’s little bits of business that Luz does), but for the most part, the list comes from the recap and comments. I usually watch the ep, read the recap, make notes, read the comments (or most of them), copy my notes down, revise and that’s that.

Carvivlie: I was on the fence about Sebes rebelling. I try to do the list chronologically and this was when he first started acting up. I remember my first reaction was that he was out of bounds with what he was doing, being rude to Ana and refusing to talk to his dad—but it was throwing the phone that really got me. Unacceptable. His reasons for acting out are valid, but his actions not so much.

Did the idiot sign a prenup? I don't remember. Did they marry under "bienes separados" or "bienes comunados?" He let himself get steamrolled into the wedding so quickly that I don't remember him protecting himself or his kids legally.
 

I think it is so funny that we are citing examples from novelas to know about whether something might be possible or not! (for example, annulment). Surely I am not the only one who is guilty and also sees the irony of that.
 

Rebecca- Alejandro dropped that annulment business when he did the DNA test and realized the kid was his. His son would have been illegitimate in the eyes of the Church had he gotten the annulment.

Victoria- It is funny, but since we are talking about the tn universe, we have to use tn law, which is usually a twisted version of real law.
 

I am fairly certain Fer could get an annulment on grounds of fraud/coercion if it turns out that the baby has a different father.
 

If in fact the babe is not Fernando's, I hope JS has a different facial expression from what we've seen so far. I cannot place it within his repertoire of Dumb, Dumber or Pissed

Since the answer was usually 'yes', I never knew what the right punishment should be. Of course I would be so hurt and frustrated by my dad marrying a witch that little reactions like throwing the phone would be minor in comparison to running away from home!

OOOOH! If this novela needs an extension, how about all the kids and Ana run away and live in the woods, and it's kind of like the Boxcar Children or Swiss Family Robinson or something?

Well, they could just do it now, no extension. Ana, Diego, and all the kids should run off to the jungle and build a treehouse and devise all sorts of clever contraptions from sticks and vines. Actually Sebas could run away with the hip hop gang and disappear from the story.
 

Except she never coerced him into marriage. It was HIS idea. She said "I'm pregnant," he said, "Let's get married." He has no idea whether she would have accepted child support and his involvement with just the baby and not her (of course, Viewerville knows she would never have gone for that) but it never even entered Mr. Do the Right Thing's thick cabezota to even suggest it. And as has been mentioned here countless times, the weenie DID NOT HAVE TO MARRY IN CHURCH!

I would have expected such a supposedly intelligent and successful business man who already knows he's in love with someone else, if he felt he had to do so, to marry her in a quick and quiet civil ceremony with no engagement party, no "pedida de mano" no nothing but an, okay, let's get this over with attitude. She played him perfectly.
 

Yes. Fer is stupid, and if he is stuck with the bruja for the rest of Catholic eternity, it is his own fault. I do not feel sorry for him in the least.

I wonder what will come first: he will decide to divorce her, or she will leave because she's bankrupted him and wants to move on to richer pastures?
 

Maybe we will find out Bruja was married before and somehow that divorce never went through so her now marriage is invalid.
 

As Julia previously stated, A Catholic marriage can also be anulled by the church when the marriage was based on fraud.

She never coerced him and she can always say she was sure the baby was his and was acting in good faith, then point to all the public celebrations of the engagement, wedding, etc and say "is this what a man does when he's been coerced and defrauded? No, he was clearly in love with me. And would he then move in my mother into his home and make all of his staff welcome us? Of course not!"
 

I think it would still be fraud because she told him quite emphatically that the baby is his. If there were even the slightest possibility it is someone else's, she would have known, so saying that constitutes fraud.
 

If she had an inkling the baby was not his and failed to tell him, it still is fraud. Adding to this, she has admitted she knows he only married her because of the baby. Bingo!

I think the fact that he turned down her proposal shortly before she told him she is pregnant is enough evidence that he was not willing to marry her if not for the baby.
 

We can be Fernando's witnesses so he will be able to apply for that annulment when the dna test shows the baby isn't his. LOL Yes, the church does ask for witness statements.

Playing devil's advocate here, but yes, everything they said to each other was just that, TO EACH OTHER. She can deny everything and it will be a case of he said/she said (though, yes, the patio would gladly be his witnesses), but what did he do in public? There are even witnesses to their smooching during their fabulous honeymoon. He was even acting all lovey-dovey with her on the golf course (of course, no one was close enough to see his facial expressions).

Fernando has been pretty honest with Nic, Bruno, and Diego. They could be witnesses (Diego might need some sweet-talking). Plus he could track down the staff from the dinner when Isa proposed. Plus everyone at the wedding saw how loooooonnnnnnnng he stalled before saying "acepto". Plus Beatriz must overhear a lot.

Of annulments and deities...

I've heard that annulments can be somewhat tricky. After the paperwork is submitted the couple goes through some sort of hearing or trial where some religious big cheeses decide whether the marriage can be annulled or not.

This kind of goes against what the Catholic Church (CC), since they believe that a marriage is something that God has united and no man can separate. But hey, I am not a theologian so who knows what criteria is used for annulments :-)

In reading the comments I saw CLD and CI. I know CI, watched most of it until I fled the country towards the end of the year, but for the sake of those of us who are acronym challenged, what is CLD?

This story went seriously south…

Fernando, oh where do I start? He sacrificed his kids to satisfy his version of doing the right thing. He’s too blind to even begin to see the many ways that Bela is not right for him or his family. Yes, there is a bun in the oven, but how can anyone expect the bun to turn into a gourmet burger when there is no love? Do we honestly think that Bela will be a kind loving mother? I expect her to be the kind of parent that will outsource all motherly attentions and dedicate herself to a superfluous and meaningless life. Creepily enough, if Ana stays on, she will probably be more of a mother to number 8 than Bela.

Bela, well done! All villainesses will be proud of her. She got her guy, did a 3 week church wedding (I am sure the Pope is turning in his bed) and has now installed herself in the Lascurain Mansion planting the Bela flag as a sign of triumph. She also totally displaced the Nanny and now that her victory is complete she has to be satisfied by rubbing it in Ana’s face in the worst way possible.

Ana, what are you still doing there? The love of your life just got married. Living in that house is so wrong and tortuous knowing that there is an attraction between you and Fer. Yes, the kids do need you, Bruno and Manuela need you, Fernando needs you, heck! Even the ferret needs you, but Fernando made a decision that will have repercussions throughout and he will have to deal with it. Now I feel that she is staying on to do damage control. You really need to l-e-a-v-e. And what were you thinking borrowing money from Mister D? As long as you were at it, you should have shackled yourself to the pole.

Leon, you’ve managed to single handedly make Fanny and VIewerville in general fall in love with you, admire your tenacity and nobleness then manage to procure your own coffin, put yourself in it, nail it shut, toss in into the grave, cover it with dirt and plant some daisies above ground. You can say bye-bye to Fanny.

Tamara, why plot at this point in time? Leon plotted against himself beautifully. Better, get a life!

Johnny – for the way you treated Ana and betrayed her you deserve what you are getting. If Mister D has not killed you because you owe him money, just tell me how much you owe him and I’ll take care of that debt for you. Ain’t I a stinker?

Jenny. Congratulations on your new job. I feel like watching the show again just to see what is up with you! The only thing that concerns me is that if you learned all your mechanical skills from Johnny, I am not sure how far that will get you. But I am getting Marisa Tomei vibes of My Cousin Vinny from you, so good luck on your new career hoping that you become a prestigious auto mechanic for the fast and furious.

So where can this story go? Fer did a church wedding, so the only way that our heroine will get her prince charming (or in this case she’ll have to settle for Fernando) is if Bela buys herself a Ferrari and drives it off the cliff (with her in it of course). I really don’t want to see Bela dead just to see Fer and Ana together. And what about Diego? Will he be the so clichéd third wheel that will forever be in love with some one that will never love him back? Or maybe he’ll be the consolation prize and marry Ana, much in the same way that Fer married Bela… without love.

And speaking of catastrophic relationships, where can the Leon/Fanny (known in trendy circles as Leoanny) couple go? If he did a church wedding with Tamara then read my diatribe above regarding the Fer/Bela wedding. Will Tamara have to die? Would Fanny actually forgive him for his cowardice in not telling her about his existing family? Will Tamara be understanding and give him a divorce (assuming no church wedding)? Answer the above in the worst possible way and you’ll probably be right.

Oh, what a tangled web we weave…

Everyone gets excited about the shows (or sports) that they watch on the TV or in person and everyone has their moment of glorious exaltation.

There is only so much gloom (and stupidity) that I can take. I desperately need a beanie.

LOL at myself moment. I did not know what a beanie was and for the first few posts here I thought they were talking about a beanie, as in the little cute stuffed animals. I thought it was horrible when some one mentioned that they had burned their beanie! Then the hat subject came up and here I have an epiphany , "Oh, that kind of beanie!". Whew! Glad to hear that no cute stuffed animals were harmed after all!

Ok, gotta go, my carriage is about to turn into a pumpkin :-).
 

I think maybe we need a FAQ link to explain things like beanies and Nerfazos and The Patio (and The Bunker, for shows that are really off the rails) to newcomers. Plus a listing of all the acronyms we use for shows. I hate for anyone who wants to join us to feel left out and not part of the fun club.
